The sermon "Christ's Infinite Greatness" by Wayne Boyd focuses on the profound theological doctrine of the infinite greatness of Christ as emphasized in Luke 10:22. Boyd argues that while many historical figures are labeled "great" by human standards, their greatness pales in comparison to the infinite nature of Christ, who is both fully God and fully man. He supports his arguments by drawing on various Scriptures, particularly emphasizing how all things have been delivered to Christ by the Father, and that true knowledge of God can only be revealed by the Son through the Holy Spirit. The practical significance of this sermon lies in the believer's assurance that their names are written in the book of life, and their understanding of Christ should lead to deeper faith and worship, recognizing that salvation is entirely through His infinite grace and mercy.

to open your Bibles, if you would,
to Luke chapter 10, being the same chapter that I had Brother
Tom read in. I love that last verse that Tom
read in that portion there. I just love that. I've got to
preach that someday. Notwithstanding in this, rejoice not that the
spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice because your
names are written in heaven. Oh my goodness. Our names are
written in heaven, beloved. The book of life. The book of
life, God's penned our names from eternity in that book. Isn't
that wonderful? Oh, it's just amazing. Today we're gonna look
at the greatness of Christ. The name of the message is the
infinite greatness of Christ. His greatness is infinite. It's
infinite. The little bit we know we marvel
in, right? But it's infinite. His greatness is infinite, beloved.
My. Now in this world, there have
been some so-called great men and women, haven't there? Through
time, men have called and women have called certain people, certain
individuals, great. Because maybe a heroic thing
that they've done. Maybe they were a skilled military
leader. They called Alexander, Alexander
the Great. Julius Caesar was known as a
great tactician. He was a genius tactic-wise,
but part of that was because of the men that he had around
him. I didn't realize it, but he often sought the advice of
his fellow leaders who were below him. But he was a genius when
it came to military tactics. And he is considered a great
man in people's eyes. Lately, in the last 10 years,
we've heard the word goat used. You ever hear that used? No?
Goat. People say goat. Call somebody, oh, he's a goat.
Well, it means the greatest of all time. Like some people call
football players that. Wayne Gretzky was called, of
course, it's hockey. Wayne Gretzky was called the
Great One, right? because he was the best hockey
player at that time who played the game. Now there's going to
be someone else who comes along who's going to play the game
better than him, but he's still referred to as the great one. And so some people are called
great because of their minds. Some people are called great
because of their athletic ability. Some people are called great
because of their leadership. You know, people used to say,
oh, that guy, he was a great president, or he was a great
leader in the world. Well, that's man's opinion, isn't
it? And you ask another man, he might
not have the same opinion of that guy, right? So all through the years, there
have been people who the world's considered great. Well, I want to tell you about
the greatest man that ever lived. The one that the world doesn't
recognize as being great. But you know he is, and was,
the greatest man that ever lived on this earth. And his greatness
is infinite. Now the word great means of an
extent, amount, or intensely considerably above the normal
or average. So those People who the world
calls great are considered to be above the normal or average. Well, I'm just average guy, personally,
so. But they never consider Christ. The world never considers Christ
and his greatness. They despise him. They reject
him, still, even today. Even today. But, you know, it
doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest one who ever
lived on this earth. He's the greatest man that ever lived
on this earth. No one's ever even come close to him. Never. No one's even come close
to him. He far surpasses the greatness
of anyone who's ever lived upon this earth. Do you know the word
infinite? It's defined as limitless. Do you know our God's greatness
is limitless? Do you know our Savior's greatness
is limitless? It also goes on to say, this
is from just the regular dictionary, English dictionary, without bounds. You can't measure it. If something is infinitely great,
and remember, our God is infinitely great, He's infinitely powerful,
He's infinitely holy, He's infinitely righteous. You cannot measure who he is. And it also means this, impossible
to measure or calculate. We cannot calculate the greatness
of Christ. Now in our minds, for we who
are believers, he's great, isn't he? He's the lily of 10,000. He's
the lily of the valley. He's the one in 10,000, right?
He's the Rose of Sharon to us. He's absolutely beautiful and
He's great. But even our conception of His
greatness doesn't measure even near how great He is. You know, He's great because
of who He is. He's great because He's God incarnate
in the flesh. He's God. He's God and a man. And He's great. And He's greatly
to be praised, right? He's the one who's only one who's
worthy of our praise. The only one. So He's God in
the flesh and He's fully human. And because He's great, He's
the only one And this makes him great, too, is he's the only
human who's sinless. Sinless in his life and sinless
in his death. He gave his life for us. See,
the wages of sin is death, right? We deserve death. That's a payment
for our sins. He never sinned. But yet he gives
his life for us as our substitute. My, that's a great Savior, isn't
it? You can't measure that. That's
boundless mercy. That's boundless grace. That's
great love and great grace that we can't even measure. Can't
even calculate it. Oh, do you know he's great because
of who he was before he came to this earth? He's the second
person of the Trinity. He's the Word of God. There's God the Father. God the
Word, or the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and the three are
one, the scripture says. They're of the same nature. They're of the same nature, remember
that. We're of human nature, aren't we? Their nature's divine. See, that'll help us give an
understanding to us of why God's ways are not our ways. Because
we think humanly. God thinks divinely. With a divine mind. So far above us. He's great, Christ is great because
he finished the work that the Father sent him to do, didn't
he? Which is to save our souls. Each one of us can say, he came
to save my soul. We who are the people of God.
We who are born again by the Holy Spirit of God, we can say,
He saved my soul. He did that. He came to do that
for me. Bless His holy name. Bless His holy name. Let's read
our text for today. We're going to read the context
of it here, verses 21 to 24. Our verse, though, is verse 22. In that hour, Jesus rejoiced
in the Spirit. So this is after He sent the
70 out. They come back. And he's told
them, don't rejoice over the power you have over the spirits,
but rejoice because your name's written in heaven. I had Brother
Tom read that to set up for where we're at here. So that had just
all occurred. In that hour, Jesus rejoiced
in the spirit and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven
and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and
prudent and has revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father,
for it seemed good in thy sight. He's revealed Christ unto us.
We're just babes, aren't we? Our knowledge is so limited,
but yet we rejoice in the little bit we know about Christ and
about God our Father and about the Holy Spirit. And it seemed
good in God's sight to save us. Look at this though, verse 22.
All things, and I mean all things, it says all things there, it
means everything. All things are delivered to me of my father.
And no man knoweth who the son is but the father, and who the
father is but the son, and to whom the son will reveal him.
Do you know that word reveal there means to unveil? To uncover? And that was us in our natural
state. We were dead in trespasses, and since he gave us life, he's
unveiled. He's unveiled the, now we can
see him! By faith, can't we? By God-given
faith, now we can see him, and now we rejoice. Oh my. And he turned unto his disciples
and said privately, blessed are the eyes which see the things
that you see. That can be each one of us, isn't
it? Blessed are your eyes that you see Christ. And that's speaking
of not the physical eyes, but the eye of faith, isn't it? Now
they saw Christ face to face, but they also saw him by faith
as the Messiah, as the sent one of God. For I tell you that many
prophets and kings have desired to see those things which you
see and have not seen them. Blinded. And to hear those things
which you hear and have not heard them. My oh my. So it's only by the grace of
God that we know who the Father is, because the sons reveal Him
to us. And only the Son knows the Father,
we saw that in that text. And only the Father truly knows
the Son. And God the Holy Spirit knows both the Father and the
Son. You know why? Because they're of divine nature. Our little grasp of divine nature
absolutely makes our minds start to fizzle. God is so much greater. Christ
is so much greater than we think. He is so great, beloved. You
know, after putting together a message
like this, I often think, why do I ever doubt? I know it's my flesh, but why
do I ever doubt what God can do? Why? He's great. He's of infinite
greatness. This really helped me putting
this message together. I spent a lot of time on this
message this week because it's such a weighty topic. The greatness of God. Who He
really is. And how great He really is. And
again, I'm just scratching on the surface with this. I pray God will give me the ability
to proclaim how I feel. This is amazing. Let's look at
verse 22 again. And we pray God, the Holy Spirit
will illuminate the scriptures for us. Look at this, all things
are delivered to me of my father. He's the judge of all things.
He's the owner of all things, beloved. They've been delivered
to him by the father. They've been entrusted to him
by the father. Do you know you and I, as believers, have been
entrusted to Christ? We've been entrusted to Him,
beloved. And the Father, because He knows the greatness of the
Word of God, the Son of God, He entrusted us to Him. Oh, Lord, increase my faith,
Lord, please. My, oh my. One old preacher made a comment
on this verse. He said, no words perhaps in the whole scripture
set forth the dignity and glory of the person of Christ more
empathetically and expressively than the following, no man knoweth
who the son is but the father. Let's look at that again. All
things are delivered to me of my father and no man knoweth
who the son is but the father. No man truly knows who the Lord
Jesus Christ is except the father. and including the Holy Spirit
as well. See, we have faith given to us
to believe on Christ, but only Father truly knows Him. You know
why? Because the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are three,
and they're one. They're one in purpose, they're
one in nature, and they're one in will. It's incredible, beloved. It's incredible. Our Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ, is infinitely far above all principalities
and powers. Anything that can affect this
world, whether it be physically or spiritually, our King, our
Lord, is infinitely far above them. He's in control of them all.
They've all been delivered to him. That's what the scripture's
saying here. This is His world, beloved. We are His creatures. His creation. We're part of the creation of
God. It's amazing. And He is so infinite in nature,
and so the glory of His person that none but the Father, who
is an infinite being, right? Could know the Son. the Word
of God, who is an infinite being. And know the Holy Spirit, who
is an infinite being. They have no beginning or end,
right? No beginning or end. Oh my, see
how great our God is? It's hard for us to even comprehend
these things, isn't it? But it's true. We know what He's revealed to
us. We know the little we know about God, it's been revealed
to us by the Son. That's in the text too. Isn't that amazing? We don't
have nothing to boast in, do we? We just boast in our great
God. We can just boast in Him. We only know what He's revealed
to us about Himself. Norm Wells says, there's so much
more to our God than what we know, because he only reveals
to us what he wills in the scriptures about himself. But he's without
bounds in his greatness. Hard for us to understand, isn't
it? But it's true. But it's true. Our imaginations
cannot conceive the greatness of the Lord Jesus Christ, We
can never reach Him. The distance is so great. How
can man think that he can work his way to heaven when the distance
is so great between us and God? It's impossible. It's so impossible
for man to work their way to God that God the Father sent
His Son into this world to die in our room and place so that
we might be with Him forever. The Infinite One sent in His
infinite Son, who became a man and died in our room and place,
shed His blood to redeem the souls of all those the Father
gave Him. Turn, if you would, to Isaiah
chapter 6. We're going to get a glimpse of the greatness of
Christ. This is a pre-incarnate appearance
of the Lord Jesus Christ to Isaiah. And we're gonna see Isaiah's
response, but I also want us to look at the response of the
angels, holy angels, sinless angels. I want us to see the
response of them to the glory and the greatness of Christ,
who is the word of God sitting upon the throne. The one who
became flesh and dwelt among us, the one who redeemed us with
his own precious blood when he became a man. Look at this, this
is just absolutely incredible. Even the highest Angelic being
is overwhelmed at the presence of our great Savior. Isaiah chapter 6, starting in
verse 1. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord
sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled
the temple. Now that train, the trains of
kings represented the size of their kingdom. This is a huge
train that falls behind him. filled the temple, and above
it stood the seraphims. Each one had six wings, and Twain,
he covered his face. They could not even look upon
him. These are holy angels. These are sinless beings. They
cannot even look upon the glory and the greatness of our king.
They have to cover their eyes, beloved. You know, I praise God that he
forgave me for being so flippant about who he was. before he saved
me. And I praise God that he forgave
me for being so flippant when I was in religion and said, God
can't do anything without you doing something. Horrible. I thank God, though, that now
he's given me the ability to preach the truth, to proclaim
the truth about him. This is the truth about him.
This is the God of the Bible right here. This is our Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ. He's so great and so glorious
that holy angels have to cover their faces before him. Each one had six wings, and with
twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet,
and with twain did fly. And one cried unto another, Holy,
Holy, Holy Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Look at that. Is the Lord of hosts. There he
is. The whole earth is full of his
glory. And the post of the door moved,
and the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with
smoke. So holy angels are covering themselves
up at the glory and greatness of our King. And then look at
Isaiah's response, which is the response of every believer. Look at this. Then said I, woe
is me, for I am undone. I'm undone. I'm a man of unclean lips. He's
confessing that he's a sinner there. And I dwell in the midst
of a people of unclean lips. He's confessing the depravity
of all mankind. For mine eyes have seen who?
The king. Singular. The king. The king of glory. The Lord of
hosts, then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in
his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar,
and laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy
lips, and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin is purged.
That's a picture of the blood of Christ, beloved. Oh my. So even these holy angels must
cover their eyes before the King of Glory. Oh, His greatness is
so amazing. The saints in glory and the saints
upon this earth, we have an understanding of how great He is. As little
as it might be, we still have an understanding, don't we, of
how great our God is. He saved us from all our sins.
We couldn't save ourselves. He saved us from all our sins,
every single one of them, fully forgiven. covered in His precious
blood. Can't save ourselves. We fall
infinitely short of that which God demands, don't we? Infinitely
short of what God demands. And we fall infinitely short
of who God is. See, because we're humans and
He's of a divine nature. But we do know, by the grace
of God, that Christ is the only Savior of sinners. We do know
that. And we rejoice in that, don't
we? We've entrusted our souls to Him, haven't we? See, the
Father's entrusted Him with us, and we've entrusted our souls
to Him. You know, we've entrusted our
souls to the greatest man that ever lived. We've entrusted our
souls to the infinite God, The infinite Great One? Can anything remove us from Him?
No. Nothing. He says, thou art mine. Oh my, the Great One said that. Oh my. And we do know we have
a great Savior. Even though we're great sinners
to our shame, we know we have a great Savior who's able to
save us from all our sins, cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.
And He did it all on Calvary's cross, didn't He, when He shed
His precious blood? That's when He's redeemed us.
We were redeemed 2,000 years ago, beloved. We were redeemed,
purchased. Oh my, so let us praise the name
of Jesus, the only Savior of sinners. Let us praise him for
his great work of redemption. Let us praise him for his infinite
greatness. Look at this scripture again
with awe and wonder as we read this, and we see the infinite
greatness and the infinite wisdom of God. of God the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit. Look at this again. All things
are delivered to me of my Father, and no man knoweth who the Son
is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and he
to whom the Son will reveal him. Do you know the divine mind can
only contemplate the divine nature? That's what he's bringing forth
here. We can't comprehend the divine
nature of God. But one who is of divine nature
can. Who's our savior? One of divine
nature, isn't he? He's God incarnated in the flesh.
A creature's known by a creature of the same order and a creature
by the same nature. We know each other, we're all
humans. And we all have human nature.
We don't have a divine nature, do we? But Christ did, didn't He? Therefore,
He knows the Father, and the Father knows Him, and the Holy
Spirit knows Him, and the Holy Spirit knows the Father, too.
Isn't it wonderful? You notice in Scripture, too,
the Holy Spirit won't speak of Himself? You notice here, it's only talking
about the Father and the Son? Isn't that amazing? He's the
author of this. Oh, it's amazing, isn't it? It's
absolutely amazing. So, we see here in our text that
the father knows the son, therefore he must be far above all others. He must be like the father. In the same manner, the father
knows the son. They both must be the same manner. They both must be of the same
nature. Their minds and their natures,
therefore, must be equal, right? That's why the Father, Son, and
the Holy Spirit are equal. The three are one. The three
are one, again, in will and purpose. He purposed the salvation of
his people, right? The Father did. The Son willingly came to
this earth to die for us. And the Holy Spirit regenerates
us. They're all in unity, beloved. They're all in unity. Their minds must be equal. Their
natures must be equal. So this shows us how inconceivable
it is for man to understand who God is in our natural state.
We cannot understand who God is unless we're born again. And then, to be born again is,
of course, then the Son reveals the Father to us. It's amazing, beloved. It's absolutely
amazing. So think of the greatness of
our God, think of the greatness of God, the Father, Son, and
the Holy Spirit, and think of how much we pale in comparison. And yet He has mercy on us. And
yet He has mercy on us, beloved. Yet Christ, Christ whose God
became a man to save His people from their sins by His death
on the cross. See, God can't die, can He? So
He becomes a man. Man can die. Every one of us
has got an appointment with death, but the difference with Christ
is he's sinless, so he gave his life up for us. It's wonderful. So only an infinite mind can
comprehend the divine nature of God. And God the Father, Son,
and the Holy Spirit all have divine nature. Only they can
conceive of the knowledge that they have. Only they can conceive
of their true greatness. And only a divine mind can conceive
the greatness of God. Therefore, the scripture proclaims,
there's none that understandeth. There's none that seeketh after
God. There's none righteous, no, not one. See, we do not understand
the things of God before we're saved because our minds are veiled. Remember what the reveal means,
to take a veil off? Oh, my goodness. That's my savior. I'm looking
to him to live. Praise his mighty name. And only one of divine goodness
and greatness could plan the salvation of God's people by
his free and sovereign grace. due to nothing in them at all.
Human nature, we would never come up with something like that. We see what man does to their
enemies in wars, don't we? Here we were, enemies with God
in our minds. He sends his son to save us.
The father sends his son. Only God, only a divine mind
could come up with that plan of salvation, beloved. Only divine
mercy and grace could send God the Son into this
world to die for sinners. The sinless one dying for sinners.
What mercy! How great is the mercy of God
the Father! How great is the mercy and grace
of the whole Trinity to plan this wondrous plan of
salvation for God's people, for his elect. And remember, divine grace and
mercy is shown to each one of us who are believers in the death
of Christ. It's a manifestation of the divine mercy of God and
the divine grace of God It was a divine, it was manifested to
us when Christ died in our room and placed on Calvary's cross. Now think upon this, our text
bringing forth that only the Son and the Father, and we know
the Holy Spirit, have a true understanding of one another.
A true comprehension of their greatness. The little bit we know, we marvel
in, don't we? It's amazing. And to think that
He's revealed Himself to us? My, oh my. Let's read the text
again. All things are delivered to me of my Father, and no man
knoweth who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is
but the Son, and He to whom the Son will reveal Him. So the Father
perfectly knows the Son. The Son perfectly knows the Father
and the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit perfectly
knows the Father and the Son. They know of each other's greatness. They have a true comprehension
of their greatness. They know one another perfectly,
why? Because they all have a divine
nature. See the word knoweth there in
verse 22? Again, that's the word gnoska,
which means to know whether the action be from beginning or complete
and settled. And it's an intimate knowledge
of each other. They know each other. My, oh my, beloved. And remember who Christ is. He's
the word of God incarnates. We saw him in Isaiah before he
came. He's sitting on a throne, isn't
he? And angels can't even look at him. They've got to cover
their faces. He's so great and so glorious. And you talk about
humbling himself, eh? Comes to this world and men are
spitting on him and despising him, rejecting him. He's a man
of souls, acquainted with grief. But praise be to God, by his
stripes we're healed. He was bruised for our inequities. Our sins were laid upon Him,
and He paid it all, beloved. So much so, and think of this,
only a perfect man, Brother Travis said this one time, it's so true,
only a perfect man could offer a perfect sacrifice. He's a perfect man. And we often think how people,
I've heard people go, how could he save all those people at once? Because think of the infinite
greatness of his merit. Think of who he is. His sacrifice
is so great that he saves a multitude of people that no man can number
while he's dying on that cross because he's so great. And just
bring it right home, beloved. We were in that number. Oh, my! What can we say but praise be
to God? Hallelujah, what a Savior is
our King! Turn, if you would, to John,
chapter 1. John, chapter 1. Only the Lord
Jesus Christ knows the Father, and we see that in our text,
right? Only divinity knows divinity, truly knows divinity. And it says in the latter part
of our verse, in he to whom the Son will reveal Him, speaking
of the Father, look at what it says here in John 1, verses 17
and 18, look at this. For the law was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man has seen God at
any time. You know who appeared to Moses?
Christ. At the burning bush, the giving
of the law, that was Christ, beloved. No man hath seen God
at any time. The only begotten Son, which
is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. And then
we see in our verse, He reveals Him. My, oh my, how great is our God,
beloved. This is depths of mystery here
before us, isn't it? This is the mystery of godliness.
God became a man to redeem his people from their sins. Look
at verse 18, though. No man has seen God at any time,
but the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father.
He hath declared him. So in our natural state, it's
impossible for us to know Jehovah. It's impossible for us to know
God in our natural state. It's impossible for us to know
Him as the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Now, we might have
cooked up who we think God is in our imagination. I did that
before the Lord saved me. But when He revealed Himself
to me, He was nothing like I thought. He's so great. And now I'm learning. I'm learning. The little bit
I think of how great He is, it doesn't even scratch the surface.
But I still rejoice in that. Rejoice, beloved, that He's revealed,
that the Son has revealed the Father to you. Because He did
it all according to His grace and mercy. Let's look at our
text again. All things are delivered to me
of my Father, and no man knoweth who the Son is but the Father,
and who the Father is but the Son, and He to whom the Son will
reveal Him. This is why we must be born again,
otherwise we don't know God. We have no understanding of Him
if we're not born again. No understanding. In our natural
state, again, we have a warped version of who God is. And you
know what it's according to? Human nature. He's not like us. See, that's why he says, see,
we think of things that he does from a human perspective, but
that's why he says, your ways are not my ways, and your thoughts
are not my thoughts, because we think from a human perspective.
He thinks from a divine perspective. That's why he can say, that's
why he can say to us, all things are working for your good and
for my glory. often, even what's going on in
the world, working for our good and for God's glory. I don't
understand that, do you? But that's what the scripture
says, so we believe it, don't we? We believe it. We're just going
to trust our king. And this is what makes Christ
so wonderful is that he's absolutely sinless and he gave his life
for we who are sinners. There is nothing in us, absolutely
nothing in us that would merit this grace and mercy that God
gives to us in Christ. And then think of his work too.
Think of how great he is and who he is. So this brings forth
the greatness of the merit of his work. No wonder he only had to give
himself up once for the salvation of all his people. Because he's
the great God. He's the infinite being who's
become a man. So now he's fully God and he's
fully man. And he gives his life for us,
beloved. So Christ having a divine nature
and being God in the flesh is the only human being who has
ever lived who can understand the divine nature. And then he
reveals to us who the Father is. And he reveals himself to
us too, doesn't he? By faith we believe it. He accomplished the work that
the Father sent Him to do, which was to redeem His people from
their sins. In Marvel, our text, it says, no man knoweth who the
Son is but the Father. So it's also in reverse. No one
really knows who the Father is except for the Son, and no one
truly knows who the Son is except for the Father. And we know that
includes the Holy Spirit as well. Aren't you glad He revealed Himself
to us? Because we never would have known.
See, this is why those old hymn writers say, I thank God that
he chose me because I never would have chosen him. Because we can't
comprehend who he really is unless he reveals himself to us. This
is what makes salvation all of God's free grace. He didn't have
to do that. But the divine mind planned and
purposed this salvation. And the salvation would only
be accomplished by He who is divine. Because we could never
save ourselves, right? So He becomes a man and saves
us from our sins. Wonder of wonders. Wonder of
wonders. Now think of the greatness, the
infinite greatness of God the Son. that God the Father, who again,
who is of infinite greatness, is entrusted into him, our souls.
It's absolutely amazing. Scripture says this, Christ is
not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the
figures of the true, but into heaven itself now to appear in
the presence of God for us. Nor yet that he should offer
himself often as the high priest entereth into the holy place
every year with the blood of others. For then must he often
have suffered since the foundation of the world, but now once, he
offered himself up once, beloved. His sacrifice was so great, he
only offered himself up once. That's all he had to do. Once
in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by
the sacrifice of himself. Whose sins? He's sinless. My
sins and your sins if you're a believer. How? By the sacrifice
of himself. What a Savior. What a great Savior
we have, beloved. What a great Savior we have.
The work, think of this too, the work of redemption was put
in the hands of He who is the Word of God. He who is of divine nature. Wonder of wonders. And it's proclaimed
of the great Savior that the seed of the woman shall bruise
the serpent's head. And it did. Crushed Satan at
the cross. And God the Father foresaw. See,
He entrusted His people because God the Father knew that Christ
would accomplish that work. There was no doubt. He's God. There was no question of whether
he would accomplish the work, but yet he still came and did
it willingly, didn't he? My, oh my. And he came, and he
triumphed over princes and principalities, spoiled them at the cross, triumphed
over them. He's a lamb slain from the foundation
of the world. Is there any doubt that he could save his people
from their sins? Nope. Nope. So God sends him into this
world. He shall not fail. That's what our God says. He
never failed, did he? He redeemed us, beloved. He sent
the only one, God the Father sent the only one who could be
our help. He sent Christ Jesus into this world, the one who's
mighty to save. And he knew his capacity to govern the universe.
Before he came, he's already king. He's already king before he even
comes. And so when we get worried and
worked up about the things of this world, let us remember that
the great one of infinite greatness is the one who keeps us. And when he chooses to take us
home, he will take us home. to be with him forever. Because
he loves us so much that he purchased us with his own precious blood. And God's love, God's mercy is
free. It finds no merit in the creature. But it springs from his divine
love and his divine mercy. My And you know the Son delights
in you and I? He delights in you and I? I'm
such a sinner. I know my failings, I know my
sins, I know who I am, and yet He delights in me? And one day
He's going to present us faultless? How? How can one present a sinner
such as I faultless because of the infinite merit of His work
in His precious, precious blood that cleanses me from all my
sins. Is it so for you? Rejoice, beloved
of God. Rejoice. And think of this, the
Father possesses the same love for us as the Son. He possesses the same love for
us as the Son, an eternal love, an unending love, an immeasurable
love. both in duration and in degree. It's eternal. It does not change. It does not change. And all three are involved in
our salvation, aren't they? The Father chose us, the Son
redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit regenerates us. Isn't that amazing? The three are one. They're all
in unity, beloved. And the Father knows the infinite
merit of the sacrifice of Christ. And you know what? He's satisfied
with it. See, he's not satisfied with anything we can bring with
him, to him, because it's filthy rags, right? But that which Christ
brings before him, the sacrifice of himself, is of infinite merit. God is absolutely satisfied with
the sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, he's well pleased
with all who are in Christ. Wonder of wonders, beloved. God,
with infinite satisfaction, looks upon the sacrifice of his son
for the salvation of all those who he gave to Christ in eternity.
And salvation only comes in and through Christ and him alone.
There's no other way. That's why the scripture says,
there's no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. No
other name. None. These other religions have dead
men who are in graves. They couldn't save themselves,
and they can't save anyone else. But beloved, our Savior's risen.
He's risen. He's not in the tomb anymore.
It's empty. It's empty. God's satisfied with
that sacrifice. And let us ponder this week. Let us ponder the infinite value
of Christ's blood. The infinite value that it redeemed
us. It did that which we could never
do. Purchased our souls. He satisfied the law of God.
And then think of this too, that wrath of God, and I'm telling
you what, when you think of the wrath of God for people that
no man can number, I can't even fathom how much
that is. He extinguished it against us. That's why God says,
I don't remember your sins no more. That wrath is extinguished, beloved,
against us. My oh my, that's the best news
this old sinner's ever heard. Is it so for you? It's wonderful.
Oh, so let us think about that. Let us meditate on the infinite
greatness of Christ. Let us meditate on the infinite
value of his blood. It's incredible. And we believe
what the Father says, don't we? By grace. Do you know it's only
by grace? Father says, this is my son, my beloved son in whom
I'm well pleased, right? We by faith go, he's our savior. We agree with you, Father. We
believe what you say. Because we know we're such sinners
and we can't save ourselves. But we know that you're well
pleased with your son. And if you're well pleased with your
son, who's the head of the body, then you're well pleased with
the whole body. Oh, what mercy. What mercy. I had more, but I think we'll
just stop right there.
