He is born King, and beloved
He's King right now. Oh my, my oh my. Excuse me. I'd like you to turn
to Psalm 90, and also put your finger in 1 Timothy chapter 6. The name of the message is everlasting.
We'll be doing a little word study today on the word everlasting. Psalm 90, verses 1 and 2, and
then 1 Timothy, chapter 6, verses 15 and 16. Everlasting. It's a word that's mentioned
often in Scripture, used in both the Old Testament and the New.
And we'll look at both places here. Psalm 90, verses 1 and
2. A prayer of Moses, the man of
God. Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought
forth, For wherever Thou hast formed the earth and the world,
even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God. From everlasting to everlasting,
Thou art God. Now one commentator says about
the word everlasting, in strictness, it is that which endures forever,
either that which has no beginning and will have no end. And in
that sense, it's only applicable to God. No beginning and no end. The Hebrew definition for everlasting
in this psalm right here in verse 2 is this, forever, ever, everlasting,
evermore, perpetual, ancient time, long time, speaking of
the past, in the future, forever. continuous existence, perpetual,
everlasting, indefinite, or unending future, eternity. Let's turn
to the New Testament, 1 Timothy chapter 6, verses 15 and 16. So we'll look at the word everlasting
in the New Testament. In the Old Testament it's the
Hebrew word olam, and in the New Testament it's the Greek
word ionias. And here in 1 Timothy 6, 15 and
16, which in his times past he shall show, who is the blessed
and only potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, in
verse 16, who only hath immortality dwelling in the light, which
no man can approach unto, whom no man hath seen, nor can see,
to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. So the Greek word defined
for everlasting is defined as without beginning and end, that
which has always been and always will be. Without beginning, without
end, never to cease, everlasting. Now the English word is defined
as lasting or enduring forever. existing or continuing without
end, immortal, eternal. continuing indefinitely, perpetual. So we see three different languages,
same word, three different languages, the same meaning. The same meaning. And I hope that this study today,
this message will be a great blessing to God's saints and
be a warning to those who have not trusted Christ. That eternity
is fast approaching for every single one of us. Every single
one of us. Our life here is just but a vapor.
We're here just for a short time, beloved. Now again, the Hebrew
word olam in the Old Testament, which we looked at in Psalm 90,
verse 2, and ionies in the New Testament, which we looked at
in 1 Timothy 6, 16, bear the full sense of eternal. And it's
always applied to God. When speaking of His mercy, His
mercy, think of this, beloved. Vicki and I were talking about
this. Because our God is the everlasting God, that means His
mercy is everlasting. Everlasting. That means also
that his holiness is everlasting. That means that his justice is
everlasting. And he is, and that also means
that his covenant is everlasting. It also means that his kingdom
is everlasting. And it also means that eternal
life is everlasting. Everlasting. Some words that
are related to everlasting are eternal, endless, never-ending,
perpetual, undying, infinite, boundless, timeless. Now we who are living upon this
earth right now are locked in time and space, aren't we? We're
in time. We live in the constraints of
time. But our great God and King lives
outside of time. He's the one who made time. He
dwells in eternity. He dwells in eternity. And we
who believe in Him will one day be with Him in eternity. And
it won't be based upon anything we did. Now God is above time. One day to Him, Scripture uses
the analogy, one day to Him is like a thousand years. So, think of this, the terms
past, present and future do not apply to him since he's outside.
He dwells in eternity. That's why, beloved, he knows
the end from the beginning. He knows the eternal, if you
would, Isaiah chapter 46. He knows the end from the beginning.
He dwells in eternity. Look at Isaiah 46.10. Now think
of this too, when a human dies, He or she steps into eternity. Steps into eternity. God dwells in eternity. And we
human beings, when we die, we either step into an eternity
with God in glory or an eternity separated from God in hell. Look
at what Isaiah 46.10 says. Look at this. Declaring the end
from the beginning. That's the backwards to how we
know things. He's outside of time and space.
He has no constraints at all. Declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times, which is eternity. The ancient times,
the things that are not yet done. See, that's why when this whole
election was up, we who believe were just resting in the Lord.
He already knows who is going to be in power. We can trust
him. He dwells in eternity below. He knows the end from the beginning.
And look at this. Look what he says about his counsel,
about his decree, about what he decrees to come to pass. My
counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. This is the
God of the Bible, beloved. And this is the God who a lot
of people don't know. And if you know him, be thankful
because he's revealed himself to you. Vicki and I were talking
this morning about some aspects of religion and how they betray
by their own words that they don't know God. And how do they do that? Well,
they say that God's waiting for you to make a decision. Or God's
done all that he can do. Think of this, okay? Think of
this statement that people make. God's done all he can do. Now
the rest is up to you. Well, but the scripture says,
my counsel shall stand and I'll do all my pleasure. That something's,
you see how that goes right against what the word of God says, beloved?
God does whatever he pleases. We're dependent upon his mercy. Now, as I said, there's some
in the religious world who also heavily believe that salvation
is not everlasting. They say that you can lose your
salvation. Well, the salvation that they claim, you can lose.
The salvation that they claim, you can lose. Because it's based
upon your doing or their doing. It's based upon their works,
their merit. And I would agree with them that that salvation,
you can lose that salvation. You never had it. There was no
salvation there in the first place. But the salvation spoken
of in scripture, beloved, it's an everlasting salvation. It's
an everlasting salvation. It'll never end. Because it was
accomplished by God himself. By God himself, the everlasting
one who came into this world and lived a perfect life as our
substitute. died on Calvary's cross for our
sins, having our sins imputed to Him. And then He rose again
victorious, and now He rules and reigns upon an everlasting
throne. An everlasting throne. No one
will ever usurp Him. No one can. No one can. This is the God of the Bible,
beloved. Turn, if you would, to Psalm 93, verses 1 and 2. And the verses here speak of
the Lord Jesus Christ, the head of the church from everlasting.
God has established this. He's the one mediator between
God and man. And this has been established.
Christ being the mediator between God and man has been established
from eternity. Look at Psalm 93, verses 1 and
2. The Lord reigneth. He is clothed
with majesty. The Lord is clothed with strength.
Wherewith He hath girded Himself, the world also established that
it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of
old. Thou art from everlasting." Christ is the Word incarnate.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He's
from everlasting, beloved. He's God. Proverbs 8.22, speaking of Christ,
says this, The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His ways
before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting,
from the beginning, wherever the earth was. Hawker comments
on those verses in Proverbs, God the Father girded him with
strength for the warfare and the human nature which the Son
of God put on. This was all of Jehovah's providing.
In the New Testament, in Hebrews, it says, A body hast thou prepared
me. Wherefore, when he cometh into this world, he saith, Sacrifice
and offering thou wouldst not, but a body hast thou prepared
me. Beloved, our God, the King of Zion, the
Lord Jesus Christ has come from everlasting, has come from everlasting,
and his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. This is the one, this
is the one who's redeemed me. This is the one who has purchased
my soul. He who is from everlasting. The Ancient of Days. Jehovah. Jehovah. This is the one. He's
my trust. He's my stay. And this is the
one who will keep me. This is the one who will keep
me. Jehovah. The Everlasting God. And this
is the one who will present me one day. And if you believe,
he'll present you one day faultless before his throne. How can he do that? Because he's
the everlasting God. He's the everlasting God. And we say, oh, rejoice, my soul.
The Lord thy God reigns. He reigns. He has all power. All power is His, not only in
heaven, but upon the earth. All power. In what comfort this
brings the sinner who is trusting in Christ under every event that
may arise in our lives. He will never forsake His people.
Never. He by His own precious blood
purchased us. He is in the midst of His people,
for where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am
I in the midst of them. I remember someone telling me
back in Oregon, I was talking to Donnie Bell about this. Two
weeks ago, him and I were talking on the phone and I was telling
him, I said, yeah, someone told me one time, Donnie, that if
church is under 50 people, all the Holy Spirit's not there.
And he goes, oh my, like this. And I said, yeah, I just quoted
him the verse for where two or three are gathered together in
my name, there am I in the midst of them. Donnie goes, that's
the exact verse I was thinking of, brother, because that's it right
there. God is in the midst of his people,
beloved. He's in the midst of His people? Oh my. And we who believe are
poor and needy, aren't we? We're poor and needy. I am. I'm
poor and needy. I need the Lord all the time.
I'm a needy sinner. And I need my Savior. Turn, if
you would, to Isaiah 41, verse 17. And then we'll look over
one chapter for our first point. Isaiah 41, 17. Are you poor and
needy? Isaiah 41, 17, when the poor
and needy seek water and there is none and their tongue faileth
for thirst, I, the Lord, will hear them. I am the God of Israel. I, the God of Israel, will not
forsake them. Oh, you poor and needy. I pray
God to make you poor and needy. I pray to show you your need
for him. So let us consider the word everlasting. and who our
Lord God is in light of the word everlasting. Turn one chapter
over from Isaiah 41 to Isaiah 40, verse 28. Who is the God
of Israel? Who is He? He's the everlasting
God. He's the everlasting God. Look
at Isaiah 40, verse 28. Has thou not heard that the everlasting
God, the everlasting God, The Lord, the creator of the ends
of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary, there is no searching
of his understanding. Now we know that the church is
the Israel of God, right? So therefore, our God is the
everlasting God. It says there that the everlasting
God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth
not, neither is weary. He is the everlasting God. He
is the creator of the world. He has made it and it is His.
And He upholds it. And He governs it. And He judges
righteously in it. He is from everlasting to everlasting. He's unchangeably the same. His
name alone is Jehovah, the self-existent One, the maker of all, the former
of all things. This is the God of the Bible,
and He is an everlasting God. And this is the God of Israel,
the God of God's people, the God of the elect. Turn, if you
would, to Habakkuk 3.6. Do you know that all God's ways
are everlasting? So we saw there that He is the
everlasting God. Do you know that all His ways
are everlasting? Habakkuk 3, verse 6. All His ways are everlasting.
Habakkuk 3, verse 6. He stood and measured the earth.
He beheld and drove asunder the nations. And the everlasting mountains
were scattered. The perpetual hills did bow.
His ways are everlasting. Beloved, His ways are from everlasting. His power is everlasting. His wisdom is everlasting. His grace is everlasting. His mercy is everlasting. Oh, what a God we have. He's
the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change,
beloved. When I was in religion, I thought
that the God of the Old Testament wasn't the same as the God of
the New Testament. He's exactly the same, beloved. He doesn't
change. My! I'm thankful He doesn't change. I'm thankful that His mind doesn't
change about having mercy on me, aren't you? Oh my. Oh my goodness. What a great
God we have. His ways are everlasting. All
He does in time is according to His counsels. All He does
in time is according to His purpose. And all His decrees in eternity
will come to pass. Will come to pass. He cannot
be hindered or frustrated in the execution of His decrees.
What He decrees will come to pass. What He has begun will
go on. Look at the church. They've tried
to crush it through the ages. It's continued on because of
our rock. We have one rock, don't we? One
foundation, and that is Christ and Him alone. His kingdom, beloved,
is an everlasting kingdom. And He will support His kingdom.
He will maintain His kingdom and His people. and any obstructions
to His kingdom, any obstructions to Him, He'll just wipe them
out. That's our God. That's our God. This world is under His government. And all the things in it are
subject to His providence, beloved. And He can rule and overrule
all things for His own glory. and the good of his interest,
and he will do it as he's pleased. This is the God of the Bible.
See, it's not a God you can twist to your own likings, which is
what religion does. Oh, he's just a God of love.
He just loves everyone. Really? I know he loves his people. I know he's benevolent to everyone,
but he has a love for his people that's like... This is the God of the Bible.
This is the reality. He's the everlasting God. He
can rule and overrule all things for His own glory and the good
of His interest. And He does that. And everything
is subject to His control. Everything. Everything. And everything
is under His direction. One commentator said, not a step
can be taken without His will. My goodness. And this is our
God, beloved. This is our great King. This
is the God of the Bible. He's the everlasting God. And
His ways are everlasting. And the believer says, Oh, rejoice
my soul. This is who saved me. This is
who my eternal bound soul is resting in. Is it so for you? Oh, I pray God make it so for
you. Turn if you would to Jeremiah
chapter 10. Our Savior is an everlasting
King. We saw that He's born King. We heard in the song He's born
King, right? He's King in glory. He's King right now. Jeremiah
chapter 10. And then put your finger on Jeremiah
32 for our next point. Jeremiah chapter 10. Our Savior
is an everlasting King. You see, God is an everlasting
God. Scripture declares this. Jeremiah
10.10. But the Lord is the true God. He is the living God and an everlasting
King. At His wrath the earth shall
tremble and the nations shall not be able to abide His indignation. Now as we looked at Above, in our other points, God
is from everlasting. He governs the affairs of all
men. All men. And this scripture here is Fitton,
which proclaims that he is an everlasting king. Because, you
see, we've kind of lost that a little bit now, nowadays, to
what a king, how a king was. A king was an absolute sovereign,
beloved. Now, we have different forms
of government now. But he was an absolute sovereign.
You go against the king, your life will lose your head back
in the days. And they had a domain, didn't
they? And a kingdom. And they ruled
that kingdom however they were pleased to rule it. Our Lord
is a king. He's a king. Scripture declares
this. We see it right here. He's an everlasting king. So
that means his kingdom has no end. It's everlasting. And we saw
that in the three different languages for that definition of that word
everlasting, didn't we? It never ends. From everlasting
to everlasting, he is king of kings and lord of lords. From
eternity, his kingdom is an everlasting one. His throne is forever, beloved. And he will always have subjects
to reign over. And he has no successor. No successor,
as mortal kings have, because He is an everlasting King. And
the believer says, praises my name. He had mercy on me. He had mercy on me. Turn, if
you would, to Jeremiah 32, verse 40. He planned our salvation
in an everlasting covenant. which Christ came to this earth
to ratify by the shedding of His own precious blood. He planned
our salvation in an everlasting covenant. Jeremiah 32, 40, And
I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn
away from them to do them good, but I will put My fear in their
hearts, and they shall not depart from Me. God has made an everlasting
covenant with His people. We are chosen in Christ by God
the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ redeems
us by His precious blood, and the Holy Spirit draws us lovingly
to Christ. And the covenant of grace here
spoken of was made from all eternity, beloved, all eternity, with Christ
and His people in Him. He is our mediator. He is the
mediator of His people from eternity. In this everlasting covenant,
is founded on the everlasting love of God towards His people
in Christ. And it's always in Christ. Always. And it's all according to His
eternal purpose. And it will last forever. Forever. Because it's been ratified and
sealed by Christ, which leads to our next point. Turn, if you
would, to Hebrews 13.20. Hebrews 13, 20. The Lord Jesus Christ's precious
blood was shed to seal and ratify the everlasting covenant. The
everlasting covenant. Look at this. Now the God of
peace that bought again from the dead, our Lord Jesus Christ,
our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood
of the everlasting covenant. The blood of the everlasting
covenant, which we saw in Jeremiah spoken of. This wonderful covenant
is called the everlasting covenant to signify its age, beloved.
Think of this, to signify its age. The covenant of grace, this
everlasting covenant is the oldest of all of God's works. It's from
everlasting. It's from everlasting. The covenant
of works had a beginning and an end. But beloved, this covenant,
this covenant of grace has neither. And let us think upon this wonderful
fact. Because it will refresh our soul.
Our God is an everlasting God. His covenant is an everlasting
covenant. And Christ, by the shedding of His blood, sealed
and ratified that covenant. He sealed and ratified it. Before you sinned and I sinned,
before there was ever a sinner, there was a Savior. There was
a Savior. Slain from the foundation of
the world. And think of this, since our God is everlasting,
then His love towards you and I who believe is an everlasting
love. My! And when Scripture says He's
loved you, He's loved you with an everlasting love. And there's nothing in us, is
there, that deserves that love? Absolutely nothing in us that
deserves that love. Nothing. But yet, I obtain mercy. My. God's people have been loved
from eternity in Christ, and God has made an everlasting covenant,
the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, to redeem your soul if
you're a believer. Why? All because he loved you
with an everlasting love. This makes my soul marvel. Makes
me want to cry with the hymn writer saying, oh, what wondrous
love is this. Oh, my soul. Oh, my soul. Sometimes when we go through
trials and temptations, it seems like God has forsaken us. Turn,
if you would, to Isaiah 54. Isaiah 54. Sometimes when we
go through trials and temptations and tribulations, it seems like
God has forsaken us. But beloved of God, we see in what we've looked at
so far that God will never forget or forsake His people. Never.
The saints of God rejoice that our God is a great God and King.
Look at Isaiah 54, verses 7 to 10. For a small moment have I
forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee. Great
mercies. Oh, the mercies of God in Christ
Jesus our Lord. In a little wrath I hid my face
from thee for a moment, but with everlasting kindness Now think
of that. God saving us in Christ is showing
us everlasting kindness, beloved. Well, I have mercy on thee, saith
the Lord thy Redeemer. And this is Christ. For this
is as the waters of Noah unto me. For as I have sworn that
the waters of Noah should have no more go over the earth, so
I have sworn that I would not be wroth with thee nor rebuke
thee. The believer's sins are all forgiven
in Christ, as far as the east is from the west. Why? Because
He's an everlasting God, and His forgiveness is also an everlasting
forgiveness, isn't it? It is. Oh, my. For the mountains
shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall
not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace
be removed, saith the Lord, that hath mercy on thee. Oh, has God not had mercy on
we who believe? He shed His blood. Christ shed
His blood for His people. Because again, He loved us with
an everlasting love. And I'll read Jeremiah 31.3.
We've read this many times, but it says, The Lord hath appeared
of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting
love. I don't think we can truly fathom
that. But that's what the Word says. My, oh my. Therefore, with loving kindness
have I drawn thee. Remember, there's none that seek
after God. He's drawn us with loving kindness. Oh, what wondrous love is this.
Oh my soul, oh my soul. Love with an everlasting love.
Oh my. Turn, if you would, to Psalm
103. Psalm 103. He upholds us with His everlasting
mercy, beloved. He upholds us with His everlasting
mercy. Psalm 103.17. And think of this. Christ is
the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, right? He's the Lamb from the foundation
of the world. We were given to Christ in eternity.
In eternity. With that in mind, look at this
verse, Psalm 103, verse 17. But the mercy of the Lord is
from when? Everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him and His
righteousness unto children's children. Now think of this mercy before
us here in contrast to the frailty of man. The frailty of man. We see here the stability and
the duration of the mercy of God. And it's from everlasting
to everlasting. It's eternal. And who's it manifested
to? It's manifested to the vessels
of mercy. It's not manifested to everyone,
is it? But it's manifested to the vessels of mercy. Turn, if you would, to Colossians
chapter 1. And this mercy we find in the covenant of grace
which is founded upon and in and through Christ alone. David
called it the sure mercies of David. And think of the mercy that God
shows in revealing Christ to His people. We're unworthy. But do you know that this mercy
was hid from ages and from generations? Now think of that. But you know
that it's revealed to His people as God pleases? Look at Colossians
1, 26 and 27. And this is speaking of Christ. Even the mystery which
has been hid from ages and from generations. Think of all those
empires that rose. All those nations that knew not
God all through the biblical times and before that. There was one nation, right,
that God revealed himself to, Israel. That's a picture of the
church, beloved. Look, it says here, even the
mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but
now is what? made manifest to the saints. God reveals himself
to his people, to whom God would make known what is the riches
of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory. Christ in you, the hope of glory. God's people are shown everlasting
kindness by Christ. Isaiah 54.8 says this, In the
little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment, but with everlasting
kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. As I said, all God's people go
through things in this world, and sometimes they're very dark
and depressing, the things we go through. But one day we'll
be shown that they all occur. according to God's wise providence. And they do not contradict God's
everlasting love to His people, because it will be manifest one
day that they were for God's glory and for our good. Think of the mercy He has in
store for His people. He loves us, we're kept by His
power, and then we're presented before His throne, faultless,
to spend eternity with our everlasting God. And it's all by His doing. We're recipients. We're recipients. Do you know we're kept in His
everlasting arms? Turn, if you would, to Deuteronomy
33. We're kept in His everlasting arms. We're kept by Him. The
everlasting God keeps His people. Think of this when we're going
through times of trouble and tribulation. were held in His
everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33.27, the Eternal
God is thy refuge. The Eternal God, the Everlasting
One. The Eternal God is thy refuge. And underneath are the everlasting
arms. Deuteronomy 33, 27, the eternal
God is thy refuge. Is Christ your refuge? He's the
eternal God manifested in the flesh. The eternal God is thy
refuge. That's my refuge. That's my hope. You take Christ away, I have
no hope at all. None. Oh, in Christ, what a hope I
have. What a hope you have, beloved. The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms, and He shall thrust out
the enemy from before thee. and shall say, destroy them.
But the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting
arms." That's whose arms we're in, beloved, the everlasting
one. And God's righteousness is an
everlasting righteousness. Psalm 119, 142 says, thy righteousness
is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. God's
righteousness is an everlasting righteousness. And think on this
in relation to the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel.
Christ, who is the Lord, our righteousness. God approves of
him, accepts him. And we who believe are clothed
in his righteousness, in everlasting righteousness. In everlasting
righteousness that we can stand in the presence of God for eternity. All because of what he's done.
Clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Turn, if you would,
to 1 John chapter 1. We are redeemed by our surety
who was set up from everlasting Proverbs 8.23 says this, I was
set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth
was. And John speaks of this in 1
John. Look at 1 John 1, 1 and 2. Chapter
1, verses 1 and 2. Now think of this. John the Beloved,
the disciple, laid his head upon the everlasting one's breast. And Christ was a real man. Look
at this. That which was from the beginning, speaking of his
eternality, which we have heard, they heard him, which we have
seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands
have handled the word of life. For the life was manifested and
we have seen it and bear witness and show unto you that eternal
life which was with the Father and was manifested unto us." Here is our surety. Here is our
Redeemer set up from everlasting. Revelation 13.8 says this, And
all that dwell upon the earth shall worship Him, whose names
are not written in the book of life, of the Lamb slain from
the foundation of the world. He's set up from eternity to
be our surety, our Savior, and our Redeemer. And ours is an
everlasting salvation. Isaiah 45.17 says this, But Israel
shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation. Our
salvation is everlasting, beloved. I like what Bruce Crabtree said,
we can't mess it up. Because it's in him. Him who is the everlasting one. Oh my, that brings me comfort.
Because if I could mess it up, it'd be over in seconds probably. But Israel shall be saved in
the Lord with an everlasting salvation. He shall not be ashamed
nor confounded, world without end. In the New Testament, it
is proclaimed, for God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him or in him should
not perish but have everlasting life. Everlasting life. How can
you lose it if it's everlasting? Next time someone pops off about,
well, they don't believe the same God you believe anyways,
but if someone pops off about losing salvation and says, I
can't lose my salvation, it's an everlasting salvation. That's what scripture declares.
Everlasting life means everlasting life. That's what scripture declares. It's wonderful. It's wonderful.
Oh, it's wonderful. He saved us by sending us a preacher
to proclaim the everlasting gospel, right? What do true preachers
of God proclaim? We proclaim salvations of the
Lord. That's it. You go to places, they tell you
what you've got to do and the things you've got to do. Nope. Look to Christ. Look to the everlasting
one who manifested himself, became a man, dwelled upon this earth,
left the glories and splendors of heaven, left angels bowing
down before him, didn't even have a place, I mentioned this
in Sunday School, didn't even have a place to lay his head.
And he did that, he came to this earth to redeem his people from
their sins. And he did it. Oh my, what a
great God we have. What a great God. And I saw another
angel fly in the midst of heaven. Heaven, the everlasting gospel.
The gospel I proclaim, beloved, is the everlasting gospel. Because
it's been set up from eternity. Because it's centered in Christ.
He's the object of it. Without Christ, there's no good
news. There's no everlasting gospel. Preach unto them that dwell on
the earth and to every nation and kindred and tongue and people,
God's preachers, we preach and proclaim the free grace of God
in Christ and that salvation is of the Lord and it's of Him
alone. And God reveals His saving goodness
and grace in Christ to His people as He's pleased. And the gospel
preacher heralds the everlasting gospel, and the Holy Spirit saves
whom He will through the preaching of the gospel, drawing them and
pointing them to the everlasting One, Christ Jesus, the everlasting
Redeemer, the everlasting Savior. Christ. Lord Jesus Christ. There's no hope outside of Him.
None. None. And our joy is an everlasting
joy. God's people have an everlasting
joy. And the ransom of the Lord shall return and come to Zion
with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads. Then they shall
obtain joy and gladness. And sorrow and sighing shall
flee away. One day there'll be no tears,
no sorrow, no crying. Nothing. There'll be an everlasting
joy as we behold our wonderful, merciful Savior. And we're soon
to enter into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ,
to be absent from the bodies, to be present with the Lord.
Oh my. For so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. And there's only one door into
that kingdom. It's Christ. There's only one
way into that kingdom. It's Christ. See, religion and
false religion, you look at every religion and they all tell you
something you've got to do. What we believe is we say it's
all Christ and what He's done. It's all Christ and what He's
done. Spurgeon comments on the verse
in 2 Peter In this life you can enjoy all
the privilege of the inheritors of the kingdom of heaven, and
in the life to come you shall go into the harbor of eternal
peace like a ship with her sails full, speeding before a favorable
wind, and not as one that struggles into the harbor, tempest-tossed
in half a wreck. For so an entrant shall be ministered
unto you abundantly in the everlasting kingdom, everlasting kingdom
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our God's kingdom is
an everlasting kingdom. And the wicked who do not obey
the gospel will be punished with everlasting destruction, beloved.
Everlasting destruction. There's folks that mock what
we preach and mock our God and King, but there'll be a day when
they mock no more. My, oh, my. 2 Thessalonians 1,
7-9. And to you who are troubled,
rest with us when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven
with his mighty angels in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them
that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction. from the presence of the Lord
and from the glory of His power. Turn, if you would, to Psalm
145, verse 13, and we're closed with this verse. God's kingdom,
beloved, is an everlasting kingdom. Our great God is an everlasting
God. Therefore, His kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom. His salvation is an everlasting
salvation. It will endure through all eternity.
As I said, nations may arise, empires may rise, conquerors
may arise, but they all cease to endure. They all come to an
end. But our great God and King, He
is from everlasting, beloved. Look at Psalm 145, 13. Thy kingdom
is an everlasting kingdom. Psalm 145, 13. Thy kingdom is
an everlasting kingdom. And Thy dominion endureth throughout
all generations. Our God is an everlasting God.
Our God is the everlasting King. His kingdom is an everlasting
kingdom. And His dominion is everlasting.
It endures throughout eternity. Beloved of God, rejoice. The
God of our salvation is the everlasting God. The man Christ Jesus, the
ancient of days, becomes a man and redeems his people on Calvary's
cross. Manifest in the flesh, sheds
his precious blood to redeem us, to purchase us. And what
is God's saints' reply? Praise his mighty name. Oh, my salvation is dependent
upon the everlasting one. Rejoice, beloved. Rejoice. Our Lord is King. Not just King. Our Lord is the everlasting King.
Gracious Heavenly Father, we come before thy throne, a throne
of grace, which is an everlasting throne established forever in
eternity. We marvel that you've had mercy
upon sinners like me, sinners like us. and that you've loved us with
an everlasting love. and that our Redeemer is an everlasting
Redeemer, a Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. We praise
You and thank You for manifesting Yourself to us, for showing us
our desperate need for Christ. We pray that You'd use the message
to draw Your lost sheep to Thee. Oh, that You would manifest Yourself
to others, we pray. Your will be done. We bow to
Thee in Jesus' name. Amen.
