What a Savior. Praise God, He
included me. Oh, I love that song. I could
sing that every week. Oh, from eternity. From eternity,
like the song said. It's remarkable. Turn, if you
would, to Mark, Chapter 5. The name of the message is Just
a Touch. Just a Touch. Mark chapter 5, starting in verse
24 to 34. Just a touch. Just a touch of the hand. Just a touch. And Jesus went with him, and
much people followed him and thronged him. And a certain woman,
which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many
things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and
was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse. When she had heard
of Jesus, came in the press behind and touched his garment. For
she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightaway the fountain
of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she
was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing
in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned about in the
press and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him,
Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched
me? And he looked round about to
see her that had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling,
knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him
and told him all the truth. and in Mark 5.34, and he said
unto her, Daughter, thy faith made thee whole. Go in peace
and be whole of thy plague. Today, we will look at God's
providence at work, bringing a needy sinner to the one who
could make her whole. bringing her to the only one
who could cure her of this incurable disease, who could cure her of her desperate
need. Her sickness was not an accident,
but a work of God for her soul to bring her to Christ and to
bring her to this moment Right here in our text. By God's gracious and wise and
good providence, the God of all grace bought this
chosen sinner and the appointed Savior together at the time of
love. At the time of love. So here
before us, we have an amazing healing of a sick woman. A healing
by the great physician. And remember, our text says she
had went to many physicians. But she came to the great physician.
The one who is full of compassion. The one who is gentle. The one
who is the healer of the brokenhearted. The one who is the refuge of
the weak. The one who is the comforter
of the distressed and helpless. The one who is the sinner's friend. The Lord Jesus Christ. He's the
one who's being seen eating with publicans and sinners. Can you
imagine that? So said the self-righteous religious
Pharisees of the day. This man eats with publicans
and sinners. How can it be so? But our King,
our Lord is the friend of sinners. He came, he came not for the
whole, but he came to heal the sick. Those in need. Those, as Brother Matt brought
out, who have been abased and shown their need for Christ. He's the Lord Jesus Christ, the
Savior of sinners, just like me. And if you're saved, just
like you. In this world, the world is full
of pain and trouble. We've all experienced this. But
there is one who is the friend of sinners, the Savior. And this lady has a divine appointment
with Him. This woman has a divine appointment
with Him. And she's in a terrible place
with her sickness. She's in a terrible place. But
she's about to come face to face with the great physician. Turn,
if you would, to Leviticus chapter 15, and we see not only the physical
place she's in, but spiritually as well. She's dead in trespasses
and sins, but she can't even go to the temple to worship. She has an issue of blood which
rendered her ceremonially unclean before the law. Before the law
of God, she's unclean. She can't even go to the synagogue
to worship. Look at Leviticus 15, verse 7. And he that touches the flesh
of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the evening. Look at down in
verse 19, applied to women. But her issue hadn't stopped.
The lady in our text, the woman in our text, her issue hasn't
stopped. Look at Leviticus 15, 19. And if a woman have an issue
and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart
seven days. And whosoever toucheth her shall
be unclean until the evening. So she couldn't even go out.
She wasn't supposed to be out amongst the people. So we'll keep this in mind for
later reference. Whosoever touches her shall be
unclean until the evening. Or whosoever she touches. So keep that in our minds as
we go further in the message. Now we understand why she didn't
want to announce, right? what she had done, that she had touched Christ.
And at the same time, note the position of our Lord, that He
occupies in working this cure for the woman. He works as our
great High Priest, beloved. He bestows health and ceremonial
cleanliness upon us, and yet in doing so, He does not contract
any uncleanness to Himself at all. He remains perfect and spotless,
undefiled by sin. And praise God, we give praise
and glory to our sinless, spotless, perfect Lamb, the Lord Jesus
Christ. He's the Lamb of God. He's our
Savior. He must be spotless. He must be perfect. Otherwise,
how could he take our sins away? Do you know that the Jews still
do this that's spoken of in Leviticus 15, 19, still today? Recently,
one of our members was at work and someone came in who was Jewish.
He's a Jewish man. He had his little cap on and
all that. And he would not shake the hands of the woman in the
office, but he shook the hands of all the men. And the reason being was he didn't
know if any of the women were on their cycle, so he couldn't
touch them or shake their hands because then he'd be rendered
unclean. Little did he know he was already unclean in the sight
of God. But do you see the self-righteousness? Do you see that? Still practiced today. Still
today. Aren't you thankful, beloved
of God? that we who are unclean by birth, nature, and choice
because of sin, that we who believe in Christ, who were unclean by
sin in our natural state, are now made clean by the precious
blood of Christ. We're not in bondage to the law
like that man is. Not at all. We're not full of
self-righteousness. We've been bought low. We don't think something we do or do not keep us clean or unclean. The only way we are made clean
is by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ in Him alone.
No other way. No other way. So let's look at our text in
Mark 5. And Jesus went with him, and much people followed him
and thronged him. So here's a great amount of people. Throng of people. They're pressing
in. Following our Lord within their
midst is a certain woman. A certain woman who is not there
by chance or luck, because we know that there is no such thing
as chance or luck. But she's there by the divine
providence of God. Who gave her this desire? Who gave her this? What caused
her, who is not to be amongst the people because of her issue
of blood, what caused her to be amongst the throng of people? Oh, beloved, we will watch and
see in this text the almighty, irresistible, all-powerful power
of our sovereign God at work. That's who's bothered here. That's
who's bothered to this point. And verse 25 says, And a certain
woman which had an issue of blood twelve years. So not just a few
weeks or months, but twelve years. Twelve draining, tiring years. And there's no cure found. None. And verse 26 says, "...and had
suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all
that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse."
So she goes to all these doctors, and she's not getting any better,
she's getting worse. Oh, twelve years for this woman. Think of this, 18 years for the
woman in the synagogue with the spirit of infirmity, 18 years
and 38 years for the man at the pool of Basadia. All the same,
until they have a divine encounter with Christ. With Christ. She had suffered many things
of physicians and spent all that she had and was no better but
rather grew worse. She tried all kinds of means,
but they were all in vain. They were all in vain. Medical
skill had proved unable to cure this incurable disease. And she had went to many physicians,
not just one or two, but many. Just like religion. Just like
religion. And your own works cannot cure
the incurable disease of sin. And you can go to many physicians,
many different churches that'll tell you what to do and what
not to do. But we cannot make ourselves
righteous. We cannot cure ourselves of the
incurable disease of sin. Just like this woman could never
cure herself of this disease, of this plague. And religion
is like physicians. You go to them and you come out
worse. Worse, I know, I was there. I'm living proof that the grace
of God is the only thing that can change us. The only thing
that can cure us of the plague of sin. So twelve long, weary
years have been spent in battling with this disease, and relief
seemed no nearer than at first. It sounds just like religion.
Do this and do that and do this and do that and you're just,
man, it's weary. It just bears you down. And scripture
declares this, that hope deferred will make the heart sick. Hope deferred make it the heart
sick. But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life, Proverbs
13, 12. Look at verse 27 and 28. When she had heard of
Jesus, came in the press behind and touched His garment. For
she said, if I may touch His clothes, I shall be whole. This woman before us had heard
of Jesus. He was made known to her, revealed
to her. How did she have the faith to
reach out and touch the hem of the garment, believe in? If she could just do this, she'd
be healed. Because God had granted her faith
to believe. He had granted her faith to believe. And no one is ever saved apart
from the hearing of the Gospel. Turn, if you would, to 1 Peter,
chapter 1. God does not bypass the appointed
means of grace and faith coming by hearing, and hearing by the
Word of God. The grace of God by the power
of the Holy Spirit caused her to hear about Him. And the grace
of God gave her faith and brought faith in her to come to Christ. Look at 1 Peter 1, 23 and 25. Being born again, not of corruptible
seed, but of incorruptible by the Word of God, which liveth
and abideth forever. For all flesh is as grass And
all the glory of man is the flower of grass. The grass withereth,
and the flower thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord
endureth forever. And this is the word which by
the gospel is preached unto you. And faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God." This woman had heard of Jesus.
She'd been given hearing ears. See in eyes and notice the humbleness
of this woman. And Brother Matt brought that
out in Sunday School. How the humbleness of her. In the midst of her faith, she
comes behind Christ. And faith is always mixed with
humility. Always. Always. We see what we are and we fall
before a holy and righteous God. And cry, God, have mercy on me,
this woman. We're bought to an end of ourselves. And this woman's been bought
to an end of herself. She has nowhere else to go. No
hope. But God's given her hope. The higher views we have of the
Lord in His grace and His mercy, the lower views we will have
of our own understanding. God's people, like Brother Scott
Richardson said, make our headquarters in the dust. That's where we
do. Right in the dust. We bow in
humble adoration to our great King. We see Abraham who was speaking
before the Lord. He did it in humility, Genesis
18.27, and Abraham answered and said, Behold, now have I taken
upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes.
I'm but dust and ashes, Lord. Ezra chapter 9 says this, O Lord
God of Israel, Thou art righteous, for we remain yet escaped. As
it is this day, behold, we are before thee in our trespasses,
for we cannot stand before thee because of this." They've been
shown what they are before a holy and righteous God. So let us
take note of the humbleness of this woman in coming behind Christ. This is the way God's people
approach our great King. No matter when we come before
Him, we come before Him in humbleness. Knowing who He is and what we
are. See, the proud sinner won't come
before Him that way. They come thinking that they
can approach Him on their own and they'll be cast into hell. We must come before God clothed
in the righteousness of Christ in Him alone. We must. We must. God's people, turn up
your wood Isaiah 27, 13. God's people come from the east
and from the west and from the north and from the south, but
we all come in the same way, beloved, humbly before our great
God and King as mercy beggars. I'm a mercy beggar. That's what
I am. And I'm just one beggar telling
other beggars where to find bread. That's preaching. That's preaching
the gospel of Christ. We come before our great God
and King as mercy-beggars. Sin-sick sinners ready to perish
and in desperate need to be cured of this plague of sin which none
but the great Physician can heal us from. Look at Isaiah 27. And it shall come to pass in
that day that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall
come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the
outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in
the holy mount at Jerusalem." Those who were ready to perish. Oh, let's go back to our text
in Mark chapter 5. Now this woman desired to be
healed, but she had gone to the wrong physicians. She'd gone
to the wrong physicians, beloved. She went to physicians who could
do nothing, who were in need of themselves, of a cure from
the great physician. Her eyes at that time were not
set upon Christ when she was going to all these different
physicians. But now, she's being led by the
Holy Spirit of God to the Great Physician. The Great Physician. And just like her, the sinner
who comes to Christ can be made whole. Can be made whole. Can be cured of the plague of
sin. Just like this woman. Look at
Mark 5, 27 and 28. When she had heard of Jesus,
came and pressed behind and touched his garment. For she said, if
I may but touch. Just touch. Touch, but touch his clothes,
I shall be whole. Turn over your word over to Luke
chapter 5. And think of this, if I may just
touch, just touch, just a touch, I'll be whole. Remember the leper over in Luke
chapter 5, look at this. You see how God's people approach
the great king, the great physician with humility. Look at Luke 5, 12 and 13. This
is one of my favorite portions of scripture. This is me. I'm the leper. Look at this. This is what's
happened to me too. Look at this. And it came to
pass, verse 12, and it came to pass, not by chance, not by luck,
by God's divine providence. And it came to pass when he was
in a certain city, behold, a man full of leprosy, what a picture
of us full of sin, who seeing Jesus, fell on his face and besought
him saying, Lord, if thou will, now he's not saying, I'm going
to exercise my free will here and come to you, is he? No. No. Lord, if thou will, if
thou will, Thou can make me clean. Remember the woman? If I just touch, I can be made
whole. And He put forth His hand and touched
him. He touched the leper. and touched him saying, look
at these words, I will. Do you know that in every believer's
life, we like this leper, there's an I will. I will. I will be thou clean. And immediately, oh my, the leprosy
departed. So here before us in our texts,
we have a woman. This woman, what great faith
she has in our Savior. She's been granted faith to believe,
just like the leper, that she but touch the hem of his garment,
she can be made whole. Just a touch, just a touch. She reaches out and touches the
hem of his garment. Now remember, remember earlier,
she touches anyone, they're unclean for a week, Or for a day, right? But remember in Luke, that leper,
he touched the leper, what happened? Our Lord still is pure and spotless. He's not defiled. He's a spotless, sinless Lamb
of God, beloved. And she reaches out here and
just touches the hem of the garment. She's unclean and He is holy,
perfect, spotless. And this touch by the sinner
did not defile our wonderful God and King, the Lord Jesus
Christ. He remains the perfect, spotless
Lamb of God. And even when He was made sin
for us, He remained the perfect, spotless, sinless Lamb of God. Our sins were imputed to Him.
He was made sin. Our sins were imputed to Him.
And praise God, His righteousness is imputed to us. And we who
were unholy like the leper are made clean, perfect, spotless. What a great God. What a great
Savior. What a great Savior. She reaches
out and touches, just a touch, just a touch, touches the hem
of his garment. Touches the hem of his garment.
And remember, this is one of the Lord's sheep, one of the
ones who was included. Included before eternity. She didn't know that. If I can just touch the hem of
His garment, I'll be made whole. I'll be made whole. Oh, she's
one of the Lord's sheep, given to Him by the Father. And she
by faith, which is being given to her, reaches out and touches
the hem of His garment. What a picture of a sinner coming
to the one, the only one who can save us from our sins. Coming to the one who can make
the blackest sinner white as snow. White as snow. And this woman's faith, like
all true faith, was a gift of God. It was a gift of God. Yet it was her faith. She chose to come to Christ.
She chose to believe on the Son of God because she was made willing
in the day of His power. But she was willing, wasn't she?
Because she's made willing. But see, she came to Him. She was caused to come by the
sweet constraint of grace, the grace of God. John Gell says
this of these words, I shall be whole. He says, I shall be
saved. That is from her disease, from
which she could have no deliverance by the advice and prescriptions
of all her former physicians, by all the means she had made
use of, end quote. What a picture again of a sinner
coming to Christ. And what was the result of her
reaching out and just touching the hem of the garment? Look at verse 29. And straight
away the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in
her body that she was healed of that plague. Straight away
belonged. Do you remember the leper? And
immediately, instantly, this woman was cured by a touch of the garment of
the Lord Jesus Christ. What a miracle of grace we have
here before us. And do you know that the salvation
of every sinner is a miracle of the grace of
God. If you're saved, it's a miracle of the grace of God. You're a
trophy of the grace of God. We don't feel like trophies,
do we? But we are trophies of the grace and magnificence of
our great God. And he gets all the glory, his
brother Matt bought that this morning. How can we glory in
anything? We can't. We wouldn't want to, would we?
Now, when we're in religion, we like the glory. Not in grace. Not in grace. This had come to pass, too. This
had come to pass according to God's everlasting purpose of
love and grace towards this chosen sinner. And it's the same with
every single one of God's people. The virtue that went out of the
Savior to this woman was His omnipotent grace. No sooner did she touch our Lord's
clothes than she was healed. Just like that. Just like that. The thing that she had sought
in vain for twelve years. Twelve years! was gone in a blink
of an eye. That which all these physicians
had tried to heal and could not was healed in an instant by the
great physician. In an instant of time, She felt
in her body that she was healed of that plague. Again, what a
picture we have before us of a sinner coming to Christ. The
sinner who comes to Christ has spent many years, many sorrowful
years, in search of peace with God. Thinking in our, I remember,
in my mind, thinking, well, surely, you know, God will accept me
because I'm not that bad. Meanwhile, I was so unclean.
I had no desire, but I did want to go to heaven, you know. But
I thought that I'd get there because, you know, I'm a good
person. There's none good, though, Scripture says. And God reveals
that to his people. He reveals that to sinners. Many sorrowful years in sin,
the sinner toils until the great physician heals us. Before the Lord saves us, we're
like this woman, again, having gone to many physicians who could
not heal us of the plague of sin. And even if we weren't in
religion, we were still trying to do something to gain the merit
and favor with God. Useless. Useless works. And by the time we were done,
we were nothing better, but worse. But worse. But ah, the sinner
at last. This sinner in our text, and
this sinner here, has found rest. Rest. Where does the sinner find
rest? None but Christ. None but the
King of Glory. Nowhere else this believer has
found rest from this disease, this plague. And where has she
found it? In Christ. By God the Holy Spirit,
draw on her to Christ. Bring in her. Regenerating her.
Giving her faith to believe that if she just but touches the hem
of the garment, she'll be made whole. And the sinner who believes,
who is being regenerated by the Holy Spirit of God, comes to
Christ as a humble sinner. A needy sinner. A bankrupt sinner. And he commits his eternal soul
to the mercy to the mercy of God, to His mercy, believing
on the Lord Jesus Christ as our only Savior and as our Redeemer. And what happens when we do that?
At once the burden falls from our shoulders, just like it did
for Pilgrim, in Pilgrim's Progress, when he looked to the cross.
when he looked to the Christ of the Cross. Heaviness is turned
to joy. Anxiety is turned to peace. One touch of real faith can do
more for the soul than hundreds of self-imposed works. One look at Christ is more efficacious
than years of sackcloth and ashes which do nothing. One look, just a look at Christ. Let's stay in our text here actually.
We have no peace outside of Christ. No peace with God outside of
Christ. It's in and through the Lord
Jesus Christ in Him alone. And I know I say this a lot,
but may we rest and repose. And we're reposing right now
in these seats. Rest and repose in Christ in
Him alone. Every day. May God give us the
grace to do this. Let's continue in our text in
verse 30 and 33. And Jesus, immediately knowing
in Himself that virtue had gone out of Him, turned about in the
press and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said
unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest, Who
touched me? They see all these people, and
they're like, now the Lord's not asking us for information.
He already knows. And he looked round about to
see her. Remember when he looked to Peter? Remember that piercing
look when he looked to Peter? when he was in the hall and they
were beating on him and everything, or they were at the trial and
he just looked at Peter, remember, just melted his heart. And he
looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But
the woman fearing and trembling knowing what was done in her,
came and fell down before Him and told Him all the truth."
Again, our Lord's not asking us for information on this question.
He knows. He knows. He knows who's touched
Him. And we see here the necessity
of confessing Christ before men. With the mouth, confession is
made unto salvation. And this woman came and told
the Savior publicly all the truth. She told the Lord Jesus Christ
about her plague. She told the Lord of the power
of His grace that she experienced within in the cure that His mercy
had wrought. The cure that His mercy had wrought
in her. And what do we do after the Lord
saves us? We tell others, after coming
to the Savior. the great things that God has
done for us. You know, you've heard me say
this many times, folks like, they take witnessing and they
make it like this huge thing of a ball attached to your foot
that you gotta drag around. If you're saved, witnessing is just telling other
people what God's done for you. He's redeemed my soul. He saved
me. I could never save myself, and
He saved me. He redeemed me with His precious
blood. He purchased me with His blood. He died, and He rose again. And now He's reigning. See? We're just telling folks the
great things that God has done for us. With the mouth, confession is
made unto salvation. We identify ourselves with our
Lord and with His Gospel after He saves us. And we're not ashamed
to confess Christ. We're not ashamed to. And we
do it both in believers' baptism and as His witnesses. And let us remember, this woman's
confession did not cause her to be healed. Any more than the believer's
confession of Christ causes him to be saved. He's just professing
what God's done. Our confession is not that we
might be saved, but it's a confession referring to the salvation which
we have found in Christ, in which He has bestowed upon us. It's
not our doing. We tell folks, it's not my doing.
The Lord's done this marvelous work. And look at verse 34. And he
said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Go
in peace, and be whole of thy plight. Here our Lord commands,
or commends faith, that great work of grace of which he himself
is both the object and the author and the finisher. Nothing brings glory to Christ
is that faith which looks to Christ for everything, not just for
some things. but for everything. This is why
we give Him all the glory. We give Him all the praise. We
give Him all the honor. Why? Because He alone is worthy. He alone. See, religion seeks
to rob God of grace and glory, but like Brother Matt said this
morning, He won't share His glory with anyone. No one. He's King. He's God. And He's the only,
that which is impossible with man, is possible with God. Salvation. We can't save ourselves,
but God can save sinners if He so pleases. And He does. He does. The believer begins, turn if
you would to Colossians chapter 2. How do we begin our walk with
the Lord? By faith. How do we continue our walk with
the Lord? By faith. Not by our doings, but by faith. Now, God's people
aren't going to walk out this door and go crazy. They just
won't. And when we sin, we grieve. And we go to our king and we
say, Lord, forgive me. But how do we walk in this line? You know, you can go to these
so-called Christian bookstores. Man, there's 50,000 books on
how to do this and how to walk this and how to have all these
things and how to do all these things and have a deeper relationship
with the Lord. And they'll get you doing so
much that your eyes aren't on the king, your eyes are on what
you're doing. And all they're doing is making
merchandise. They're making money. That's
what their bottom line is. And whatever feeds the religious
preference of the weak, they'll write a book about it. It's ridiculous. It's crazy. How are we to live in this lie? Well, we, the believer, begins
by faith and trusting in Christ and Him alone, and he lives a
life of faith. By faith, we stand firm in our
faith in Christ, and we have no peace with God except through
Christ. Look at this, Colossians 2, verses
6 and 7. And we looked at Colossians 2,
6 this week. But look at this. As ye have
therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord. How did we receive
the Lord? By faith. Simple faith. Look into Christ. Look into Him. Right? So then how are we to
walk in this life? Well, we walk in Him. How? By faith, the same way as
we were saved. By faith. And look at what it
says. Rooted and built up in Him, established
in the faith, as ye have been taught. God's people have been
taught of God. They've been taught of God. Abound
in therein with what? Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving. Praise Lord Jesus, you saved
my soul. You saved my soul. Now how am
I to walk? How am I to walk through this
life? By the same thing. You don't have to buy any of them
useless books. The Bible, this book, this book will take care
of everything. Right here, right here. As ye have therefore received
Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him, rooted and built up
in him, and established in the faith. And how do we get established
in the faith? By sitting under the preaching of the gospel.
The Holy Spirit teaching us and building us up in Christ as ye
have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Oh my, we
keep, do you know, we just keep looking to Christ. We just keep
looking to Christ. By faith. Day by day. Day by day. And then, God will
give us dying grace and we'll die in faith. And then, we'll
see the one who's the object of our faith. My, it'll be incredible. It'll be incredible. So, this
woman, look, Christ. He thought, if I just but touch
the hem of his garment, I can be made clean. And she was made
clean. She was made clean. But who's
the object? Who's the object if I could just touch the hem
of his garment? Christ. Do you see? Christ. Turn, if you would, to 2 Chronicles.
2 Chronicles, chapter 20, verse 12. God's saints looked to Christ
and Him alone, just as Jehoshaphat did over in 2 Chronicles, when
a great company had came up against Judah and Jerusalem. A great
company had come up against them. And trials and tribulations in
this world Great companies of them come against us, don't they?
But who do we look to? We look to Christ. We look to
Him. And Him alone. Look at this in
2 Chronicles 20, 12. I was listening to a message
by Drew Dietz, who's going to be one of our speakers next year.
And I was listening to one of his messages, and he brought
this verse out, and I was like, I sent him an email. I never
saw that before, brother. That's awesome. I love it. It's
a wonderful verse. Wonderful verse. Look at this. You know, when you read it, you've
read it before, you know, we all know, we've read scripture
and it just comes alive, the verse will come alive. Look at
this. 2 Chronicles 20, 12. O our God, wilt thou not judge
them? For we have no might against
this great company. Kind of sounds like us when trials
and tribulations come, right? We have no might against these
great company. that cometh against us, neither
know we what to do. Look at this. Oh, look at this.
But our eyes are upon thee. Is that not a life of faith?
Is that not what we do? Our eyes are upon thee. Oh, my beloved. Now, here's the
question of the ages, the most important question to be asked
of you. Doest thou believe on the Son
of God? Doest thou believe on the Son
of God? And let us remember that the
most important thing about this miracle, which we've seen in
our text, is not the woman's faith, but our blessed Lord and
our Savior, Jesus Christ's great grace, which has been bestowed
upon her, granting her faith to believe and healing in but
a touch. That's the most important thing
of the text we're looking at today. She did not know that
the faith which she had in Christ had been given to her. She disbelieved. But our blessed Lord and Savior's
great grace, which had been bestowed upon her, granting her faith
to believe and healing in a touch, Oh my, she did not know that
the faith, again, which she had in Christ had been given to her,
that it had been wrought in her by the Holy Spirit of God, just
as it is for every single one of God's people. Thy people shall
be made well in the day of thy power, His power, His power. And what happens as a result
of that? I may just but touch the hem of his garments. I've
made a hole. God's people just look, just
like in that text in 2 Chronicles. But our eyes are upon thee. Life and a look. Life and a look. Do thou believe us on the Son
of God? Do thou believe us on the Lord
Jesus Christ? Oh, it's this preacher's prayer
that God would grant your faith to believe. Because there's salvation
in no other. No other but Christ. Turn, if
you would, again to Colossians, Chapter 2. Colossians, Chapter
2. God, the Holy Spirit, He rots
faith in the believer. He regenerates us. And we flee
to Christ. Colossians 2, verse 11 and 12. Look at this. And whom also ye
are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, and the putting
off of the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision
of Christ. And this is the operation the
Holy Spirit does upon His people. Buried with Him in baptism wherein
ye are risen with Him through the faith, look at this, through
the faith of the operation of God. God the Holy Spirit does
an operation on His people. Born again. Born again. Of the operation of God who hath
raised him from the dead. So let us remember this. Let
us take away this. She came trembling and left triumphant. She came trembling and left triumphant. Not in anything she did. but
in what the Master's done for her, what the Master's done for
her, and what a marvel of the grace of God in Christ we've
seen this morning. May God grant faith to those
who do not know Christ. May God grant you faith to come
just as this woman came. This is what He's done for all
of us who are saved. And may He be pleased to build
up the saints of God, to rest and repose in Christ more and
more through the preaching of His Word. Let's go, Lord, in
prayer. Gracious Heavenly Father, oh,
what a miracle of Your grace we've seen this morning. You
granted this woman faith to believe, and she came trembling before
Thee, Lord Jesus. and said, if I just but touch
the hem of his garment, I'll be made whole. And you healed
her, Lord, of all the plague that was within her, just like
you do with your people. Heal us from the plague of sin
by your precious blood. We pray that you'd use this message
for your glory and for your honor and for your praise. And let
us think about this and meditate about this through the week.
glory of your grace, and the miracle of salvation which you
wrought in your people. In Jesus' name, Amen.
