Turn, if you would, to Matthew
chapter 9. Tonight's message is called,
The Physician. The Physician. Now, we live in
a world where there's always a fear of a pandemic. They're always talking
about, there could be a pandemic. There is one. It's called sin. There is a pandemic that has
spanned this world for 6,000 years. And there's only one who can
heal us of this pandemic. Only one. And that is the Lord
Jesus Christ. The great physician. Turn, if
you would, to Matthew chapter 9. Matthew chapter 9. The physician. Starting in verse
9, we'll read the verse 13. And as Jesus passed forth from
thence, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the receipt of custom,
and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he rose and followed
him. And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house,
behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Him and
His disciples. Our Lord was in the midst of
publicans and sinners. That's good news for us, isn't
it? That's good news for we who are
sinners. He was often found with the common
people, often found with those who were despised by the who's
who of the religious world. And here it says plainly in Scripture
that He sat down with publicans and sinners. And when the Pharisees saw it,
now here's the religious folks. Here's the folks who are supposed
to be teaching the people, who study the Scriptures. And when
the Pharisees saw it, they said unto His disciples, and I bet
you they said this with just despising Him. Why eateth your
master with publicans and sinners? Well, praise God, he does. But
look at our Lord's response. Look at this. This is the God-man
meteor. The great physician. God incarnate
in the flesh. And look what he says to them.
To these ones who thought themselves better than everyone else. These
ones who are the blind leading the blind. But when Jesus heard that, He
said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but
they that are sick. They that are whole, they that
are self-righteous, they that are full of pride, they that
see no need for the Savior, need not a physician, but they
that are sick. Sin, soul, sick sinners, right? That's what we are, right? Plagued
by sin, but they that are sick, those who have had revealed to
them what we are. And then he says this, but go
ye and learn what that meaneth. I will have mercy, now this is
God speaking, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. So remember,
they were bringing all those sacrifices, weren't they? But they were pointing to Him.
For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. And here we see again before
us the Lord Jesus Christ among common people, publicans and
sinners. He was often found visiting and
teaching those who were considered great sinners. And the self-righteous Pharisees,
the religious folks of the day, were offended at this. And they complained of it. How
many times have you been around religious folks? And you can
tell them, it's not hard to figure them out. They're the ones who
kind of look down at you. Maybe you're not dressed like
they are and they're looking down at you. Or maybe you are
dressed like they are, and they still look down at you. And you
can tell. It's not hard to tell when someone's
doing that. I used to go to the mission,
and I asked those guys, I said, how many times have you met people
on the streets who just treat you like you're dirt? And every
one of them was nodding their head. And I said, it ought not
to be so. Because we're all sinners. Every
one of us. Every one of us. We're no better
than anyone else. And here's the king of glory.
eating with publicans and sinners. And the self-righteous Pharisees,
the self-righteous religious folks were offended at this,
and they complained about it. Then said they unto his disciples,
why does your master eat with publicans and sinners? They were
voicing their opinion. And in a pride to this question,
and in a vindication of himself, the Lord Jesus says, they that
behold need not a physician. but they that are sick. No sinner can be really whole
in ourselves, but the Pharisees imagined that they were. They
imagined that they were better than everyone else. The Bible's pretty clear on it,
isn't it? There's none righteous. Not one. Not even these religious
Pharisees. And those who are like these
religious Pharisees, self-righteous folks, they feel no need for a Savior. Nor do they really desire a saving
interest in Christ. Because He's not suited for them. They may speak well of Him, as
many healthy people do of a physician, but they will not come to Him.
Nor do they desire Him. Now man is intoxicated with a
foolish confidence in their own self-righteousness. Intoxicated
with self-righteousness. And they do not consider and
they do not know the purpose for which Christ was sent into
this world. He came into this world to save sinners. That was
His mission. To save sinners. And I have good
news. He did it. He's successful. But the self-righteous person sees no need. They do not know
why Christ came to this world, and they do not acknowledge the
depths of evil within the human race. They don't acknowledge
it. But Jesus Christ, our King, is
a friend of sinners. He didn't come to call the self-righteous. He came to save sinners. Look
at our text again. He came to call sinners to repentance. Look at Matthew 9, 12, and 13.
But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that behold
need not a physician. So He's telling these men, You
don't need a physician because you already think that you're
fine. But they that are sick, but go
ye and learn what that meaneth. I will have mercy and not sacrifice,
for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Now, every one of us at one time,
even we who are saved, we're self-righteous. But praise be to God. He didn't
leave us there. We've been taught of God, haven't
we? We've been taught of God, who Christ is, that He is exactly
suited to sinners. And as we see in our text, He
loves to be found among them. The God-man, mediator. Jesus
is the only physician in this world who can heal sin-sick sinners. The only one. And He has healed
thousands, millions, And he will heal all of his elect. Every
one of them. But multitudes reject him. And
they imagine that they can heal themselves without him. They imagine that they can heal
themselves. They think they're whole. And
they see no need for a physician. No need, they see. Now, sin is
a disease. It's a plague of the soul. And the sinner's state is a diseased
state. We are plagued by it just like
leprosy, which eventually creeps into all the person. It's like a disease that goes
through your bloodstream, and it goes everywhere. In humans, sin reigns. Sin reigns. Man is sick. Mortally sick. As the wages of sin is death. And his sickness is a hereditary.
We've inherited it from Adam. When Adam fell, we fell in him. Therefore, every one of us is
born dead in trespasses and sins. Plagued by sin. Every one of
us. Turn, if you would, to Psalm
58.3. And this is true of everyone.
David said this, Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin
did my mother conceive me. This week I was talking to a
man who professes Christ. I don't believe he knows Christ.
I don't believe he's saved. But he professes to, and I was
telling him that, you know, I said, do you know we come out of the
womb speaking lies? No, no, the Bible doesn't say
that. I said, it sure does. And I opened my tablet and we
looked at this text right here. Psalm 58.3, the wicked are estranged
from the womb. They go astray as soon as they
be born, speaking lies. Man is totally depraved. Estranged
from the womb, estranged from God. And we know, if you turn
to Ephesians 2, I know we've looked at this many times, but
turn to Ephesians 2 with that verse in mind from Psalms 58,
3. We come into this world dead,
plagued by the leprosy of sin. You talk about a pandemic. Sin
is it. And there's only one physician
who can cure us of it. Only one. Look at Ephesians 2
verses 1 and 3. And you hath he quickened who
were dead in trespasses and sins. And dead means dead in the Greek
there. It means graveyard dead. Where in times past you walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the
children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversations
in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires
of the flesh and of the mind, and we were by nature the children
of wrath even as others. So, that ties in with Psalm 58.3,
the wicked are estranged from the womb, they go astray as soon
as they be born, speaking lies. This is the state of man, whether
people believe it or not. This is our natural state. Sinning, for us, is as natural
as breathing. And we don't even know sometimes
when we sin. Now think of that. Think of the great salvation
we have in Christ. And the disease of sin is contagious. It's passed from father to son
and from father to daughter. We contaminate others with sin,
increasing our own sickness and sometimes others. The progress
of the disease is constant. It spreads daily. As we grow,
it spreads. It produces great weakness so
that the sinner cannot of himself do any good. Not that we ever
could. As sin permanates our whole being,
everything that we do is tainted with sin. Everything. As it is written, there is none
righteous, no, not one. There's none that understand
it. There's none that seek it after God. They are all gone
out of the way. They are all together become
unprofitable. There is none that do it good. No, not one. There's
a level playing field. Like we like to say, there's
everyone. No one excluded from that except Christ, who is the
God-man. But no human being who is the
son of Adam is excluded from that. We are dying of disease,
but unconcerned about it. But there is a skillful physician
at hand who can heal us. There is a skillful physician
at hand. But in our natural state, we refuse to go to him. And left
to ourselves, we'll never go to him. And sin produces sorrow
and pain, and it surrounds us with many cares and woe. It brings
death, not only separating the body from the soul, but separating
the soul from God and eternal damnation. There is no sickness
like sin. And this disease, this pandemic,
is universal. It doesn't matter what race you
are. It doesn't matter what country you live in. It doesn't matter
where you're born, it's universal. As it is written, there's none
righteous, no not one. Turn, if you would, to Isaiah
chapter 1, verses 5 and 6. This disease affects every part
of man. Every part of man. Look at Isaiah 5 and 6. Why should
you be stricken anymore? Isaiah 1, verses 5 and 6. It affects every part of man. Why should you be stricken anymore?
Ye will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, and the
whole heart faints from the sole of the foot. Right? From the bottom of our feet.
Unto the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises
and putrefying sores, they have not closed, neither bound up,
neither mollified with ointment. Man is plagued in every part
with sin. Every power, every faculty is
infected with this disease. Man deeply needs a physician
and he is dreadfully sick with the disease of sin. So sick that there is but a step between
him and damnation. Now this is the state of all
humans who come into this world. Everyone. There was only one who was perfect.
And he is the God-man. The Lord Jesus Christ. And he
is the Great Physician. He is the one who can heal this
plague. Him. And this, what we looked at so
far, what we looked at, is a portrait of humanity. It's a portrait
of humanity. When we come into this world,
lost and hopeless, desperate, in desperate need of Christ,
in desperate need of the Great Physician, and this is the state
of we, this was the state of we who believed before the Lord
saved us. And we were in that state and had no idea until God revealed Himself in
Christ. As a matter of fact, we were
in that state and probably enjoying it until God revealed what we
were and who He is. And we fled. Now I ask you, sinner friend,
can you recognize the likeness in the portrait that's being
presented? If not, your eye is diseased.
Do you feel alarmed at the representation of man? If not, then your conscience
is diseased. Are you determined at once to
flee to the physician? If not, then your heart is diseased. And the plague of sin is upon
you. Our prayer is always, is oh, that the Lord may open your
eyes. Open your eyes. That you may see your dreadful
state before the Lord. May He be pleased to give you
eyes to see Christ and ears to hear the precious words of the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. That the Holy Spirit would be
pleased to grant faith to believe. That's what He's done for we
who believe. Oh, that you may be alarmed at
your condition. May the Holy Spirit quicken your
soul. that you may run to Christ, that
you may flee to Christ and receive spiritual health,
healing, and everlasting life which is in Him and Him alone.
He is the only cure. He is the only one, the only
physician who can cure us of this plague. He's the only one qualified for
this work. He is a wise and skillful physician. All the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge are in Him. He employs them for the good
of His people. He's a kind and tender physician
to poor, broken-hearted sinners, such as me, such as you, if you
believe. And He never refuses to attend
one who comes to Him. He is the great physician. and
a very skillful one. He knows the nature of all the
diseases of the soul without even being told by the patient
what they are, what the true causes of them
are. He knows. He knows. And He is ever faithful to His
Word and to the poor, sick sinner who flees to Him. Look in Matthew
9 again. But go ye and learn what that
meaneth. Verse 13, I will have mercy and
not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners
to repentance. He is a physician. Do you know
that He is a physician who seeks out His patients? Turn if you
would to Luke chapter 15. Luke chapter 15. Luke chapter 15. And I didn't have all the verses
from the first, but I want to read it from the very beginning. Look at this. We remember how
our text started where he was with publicans and sinners. Then
drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
Oh my. I never get tired of seeing those,
because that's me. And the Pharisees and scribes
murmured, again, here's the religious folks again, saying, this man
receiveth sinners and eateth with them. And he spake this
parable unto them. What man of you, heaven and hundred
sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and
nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until
he find it? And when he hath found it, he
layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth
together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, rejoice with
me, for I have found. I have found. He sought the sheep
out. I have found my sheep which was
lost." Oh, our great physician seeks his patience. He stoops
to the beggar in the dust and visits the needy wherever he
may be. And he seeks out his sheep, beloved.
Turn, if you would, to Matthew chapter 8. Matthew chapter 8. And here we see the faith of
the centurion. Matthew chapter 8. Verses 5-13,
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him
a centurion besieging him, and saying, Lord, my servant Liat
at home, sick in the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto
him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said,
Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof,
but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. So
he believed. He believed that Christ had all
authority, because look at the next verse. For I am a man under
authority. Heaven's soldiers unto me, and
I say to this man, go, and he goeth. He don't refuse. And to
another, come, and he cometh. And to my servant, do this, and
he doeth it. Now, think of this, what we just
read. Think of the lie that false religion
says, that God's waiting for you. This centurion has just
given us a perfect example of God's authority and power. None
can stay his hand. None. He's God. He's God. When Jesus heard it, He marveled
and said to them that fall, Verily I say unto you, I have not found
so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, that many
shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with
Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the
children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness,
and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus
said unto the centurion, Go thy way as thou hast believed. so
be it done unto thee. And look at this, and his servant
was healed in that selfsame hour. God has all power. Christ has
all power. He's the great physician. He
can save whomever comes to Him. He has all power. He's the great
physician. No one can be compared to Him for qualifications or
for success. He's a good physician. No one
beside him can be found who so kindly, so freely, and so affectionately
heals every patient who comes to him. Everyone. And his blood
is the true balm of Gilead. He is the skillful physician.
And he heals his people freely, certainly, and perfectly. Those whom He restores to health
will enjoy health forever, free from the disease and plague of
sin when we die. We go to heaven to be with our
Lord forever. Sinless. Sinless. And think on this, beloved. Beloved
of God, this great physician heals the sin-sick sinner who
is blind spiritually to the things of God. He gives us eyes to see. He heals the sin-sick sinner
who is deaf spiritually. He gives us ears to hear. And
he performs heart surgery upon the believer too. Heart surgery. taking the stony heart that was
within us and gives us a heart of flesh. A heart that seeks
Him. A heart that rejoices in Him.
A heart that glorifies Him. A heart that seeks to magnify
Him. A heart that loves Him. As we were singing that song,
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, what was going through my head for a minute
was There was a time when that name wasn't precious to me. But
as we sang that, and as we were all singing that, how precious
that name is to us. How precious that name is to
me now. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus. Oh my. The One who has healed me from
the plague of sin. And how are we healed? Turn,
if you would, to Isaiah 53. How are we healed? by His stripes,
by His work upon Calvary's cross as our substitute, by His precious
blood. Look at Isaiah 53, and we will
read the whole chapter. How are we healed? By the precious
blood of Christ. Isaiah 53, starting in verse
1. Who hath believed our reports,
and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? Key word there,
revealed. For he shall grow up before him
as a tender plant and as a root of the dry ground. He hath no
form nor calmliness. And when we shall see him, there
is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected
of man. The God-man. God incarnate in
the flesh, despised and rejected of man. A man of sorrows and
acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces
from him, right? We despised him at one time.
We didn't seek him out, because scripture says there's none that
seek him out. Now whether or not we openly despised him with
our words, in our actions we did, He is despised and rejected of
men. A man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Yet we did esteem
him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions. And we looked at this one, the
sinless one, dying for sinners. He was wounded for our transgressions. He is bruised for our iniquities.
The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes
we are healed. The precious blood of Christ.
All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his
own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all,
the imputation of our sins to Christ. He was oppressed and
he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. Why? Because he's
the sinner's substitute. He's brought out as a lamb to
the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and
from judgment, and who shall declare his generation? For he
was cut off out of the land of the living. For the transgressions
of my people was he stricken." Note that. Remember, we looked
at Daniel, not for sins that were his, right? He's sinless,
isn't he? This verse just reaffirms that again. For the transgressions of my
people was he stricken, for my sins, for the sins of all the
elect, of all the ages. And he made his grave with the
wicked and with the rich in his death, because he had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. And here we go,
look at verse 10. Yet it pleased the Lord, it pleased
the Father to bruise, and remember we looked at that a couple weeks
back, to crush. Crush, the crush. To bruise him. He hath put him
to grief, when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin. He's an offering for sin. But not sin, any sins he has,
right? But if you're a believer, we
can say for my sins. He shall see his seed, and he
shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper
in his hands. He shall see the travail of his
soul, and look at this word, and shall be all satisfied. God is satisfied with the sacrifice
of Christ. By his knowledge shall my righteous
servant justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall
divide the small with the strong, because he hath poured out his
soul unto death. And he was numbered with the
transgressors, and he bared the sin of many, and made intercession
for the transgressors. He's our advocate. Brother Chet
bought out this morning after the message about, and I didn't
bring it out in this morning's message though, but advocate
is the same word used for comforter. In the Greek, they're the same
word. He's the comforter of his people. We who are born dead in trespasses
and sins, contaminated by the plague of sin, blind to the things
of God from birth, deaf to the things of God, lame from a fall
when we fell in Adam, are born again by the Holy Spirit of God
through the preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And it is all an operation of God. Turn, if you would, to Colossians
chapter 2. It is all the operation of God. It's all His doing. He's the
great physician. Look at Colossians chapter 2,
starting in verse 10. And ye are complete in Him, which
is the head of all principality and power, in whom also ye are
circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, and put off
the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,
buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through
the faith of the operation of God." We're not regenerated by anything
we do. It's an operation of God. who hath raised him from the
dead, and you being dead in your sins." Now, again, dead means
dead. Dead in our sins, dead with the
plague of leprosy, or the plague of sin. In the uncircumcision of your
flesh, hath He quickened. That means we're born again.
Together with Him. And look at this marvelous verse,
beloved. Heaven forgiven you all trespasses. And all there means all. All. blotting out the handwriting
of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us,
and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. Sinners who
look to the great physician, the Lord Jesus Christ, are made
whole. Heaven forgiving you all trespasses. There's nothing left. Now many fall into the mistake
of the Pharisees. They imagine that they are healthy
on their own. And they are sure that they might
have a little bit of this disease called sin, but surely they're
not as bad as everyone else. And they assume that they're
not very sin-sick. I'm just a little sin-sick. It's
only in my hands. Well. And then some, like the Pharisees,
think they're not sick at all. Look at Matthew 9, 11 in our
text, back in our text. And the Pharisees saw it and
said unto his disciples, why eateth your master with publicans
and sinners? And look at our Lord's response.
Now, we know by our Lord's response that they thought that they were
fine. They're full of self-righteousness. They think they're whole. And
remember Paul himself said that he believed that one time that
he was blameless before the law. Do you know that when I used
to say that God would take my good and my bad, I was just like
them? Because I was thinking it was
based upon me. And I wasn't quite as bad as
that fellow down the street. But when Jesus heard that, he
said unto them, they that behold need not a physician. They don't
see their need. They think that they're just
maybe, well, these Pharisees didn't think they were sick at
all. They didn't think they were plagued by sin. They thought, well, surely
those publicans and sinners are. And our King says, they that
behold need not a physician, but they that are sick. Go ye and learn what that meaneth. I will have mercy and not sacrifice,
for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Now these Pharisees here are
in the worst symptoms of this disease. This plague called sin. They are completely under sin's
power. And they will remain in that state as they will never flee to the
great position unless He makes them willing. They feel secure though. Not knowing that the plague is
in their heart and flowing all through them. And eventually it will destroy
them. They despise the savior. They
despise the great physician. Or at least they do not think
that they need his aid. And therefore they do not call
on him. They trust to their own remnants. Well, I'm doing this. And I'm doing that. Do you know that works-based
religion that says you have to do this and you have to do that
is people trusting in their own remedies? And it will lead to their eternal
doom unless God shows them who He is. Now everyone in this world is
mortally sick with the plague of sin. But we who believe have
fled to the great physician. And let us ponder this. If you're
under the physician's care, then you have felt your sickness.
You felt your sickness. You know that you're plagued
by sin. You've run to the great physician. Actually, he sought you out. He is the only one who can heal
us of this plague, heal us of sin. And only the blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, can heal us. In whom we have
redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Now a word of warning to those
who imagine that they are whole and in no need of the great physician.
Please seriously consider this verse. Turn if you would to Proverbs
30, verse 12. Please seriously consider this
verse. Oh, that God would open your
eyes to your state before God. And I honestly never saw this
scripture until preparing for this message. Look at this. Proverbs
30, verse 12. Now I've read it, but never saw
it. Look at this. Proverbs 30, verse
12. Please seriously consider this.
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes. And yet it is not washed from
their filthiness. My. And let us think this, beloved. We were there until God revealed himself. And
I ask you, sinner friend, do you deeply feel your diseased
state? If the answer is yes, then I
point you to the Great Physician, the only one who can heal sin-sick
sinners. And let us remember the terms
of the Great Physician. Turn, if you would, to Isaiah
chapter 55. The terms of the great physician
are no money and no price. Not by anything you do, but only
by what he's done. No money and no price. Oh, everyone that thirsts, come
ye to the waters. He had no money, bankrupt. Come ye, buy and eat. Yea, come,
buy wine and milk without money, without price. Don't bring any
works. Wherefore do you spend your money
for that which is not bread? That's working your way. Trying
to work your... It's that which is not bread. And your labor for that which
satisfieth not. Hearken diligently unto me and
eat ye that which is good. Let your soul delight itself
in fatness. Oh Let your soul delight in Christ
Incline your ear and come unto me here and your soul shall live
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you even the sure
mercies of David So what is the result of of this healing by
the great physician. Turn, if you would, to Acts 13.38,
and I'll read Ephesians 1.7, which says this, In whom we have
redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according
to the riches of his grace. And Acts 13.38 says this, Be
it known unto you therefore, Acts 13.38, what is the result
of this healing by the great physician? Be it known unto you,
therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached
unto you the forgiveness of sins." And we saw in Colossians, that's
all sins. There's nothing left behind. Look at verse 39 of the same
chapter. And by him all that believe are
what? Justified from all things. I stand before you a man justified
before the law and justice of God, not by anything I've done
at all, but all by what my great physician, my great king, the
Lord Jesus Christ has done for me in my room and place on Calvary's
cross. And if you're a believer, you
know it's so for you. I've obtained mercy, mercy, in
whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness
of sins. Christ died on the cross as a
sinner's substitute. He bore the wrath and justice
of God. We saw that this morning. He turned away the wrath of God
from His people. In the sinner's place. So a question
for you is, are you healed? Have you fled to the Great Physician?
Have you fled to Him? Well, if we have, then let us
admire the physician's skill. We couldn't heal ourselves, could
we? Let us admire the physician's skill and let us tell others. Tell every poor, sick sinner
that we know, that we meet, of our great physician and of the
wonderful things that he's done for us. And that's all witnessing
is, beloved, just telling the great things that Christ has
done for us. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, we are so thankful
again to be able to meet tonight. Lord Jesus, we see tonight that
you didn't come to save the righteous, to save those who thought they
were whole, those who have no need of a physician, but you
came to save sinners. I'm so thankful that that's in
Scripture. I'm so thankful, Lord Jesus.
And we who are saved, we who are redeemed know that we are
just sinners in desperate need of Thee, and You have redeemed
us. Oh, may we just be in awe this
week. May we think upon this, that
You, the Great Physician, have healed us from all our sins. We pray that if it's your will
to use this message to draw a sinner to thee, we'll give you all the
glory and honor and praise. But we pray that you'd use it
for your glory and for your honor. No matter what you do, the scripture
says your word will not return unto you void. And so we just
leave it to you and put it in your hands and pray that you
would be glorified and magnified by the preaching of your word.
In Jesus' name, amen.
