Today we will be in Psalm 150,
the last Psalm. Because sovereign mercy sought
us, it should fill our hearts with joy and with praise. The name of the message today
is, Praise Ye the Lord. Praise Ye the Lord. Psalm 150. Now the Psalms open with the
word blessed. And here we see an echo. Praise
ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God
in His sanctuary. Praise Him in the firmament of
His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts. Praise Him according to His excellent
greatness. Praise Him with the sound of
the trumpet. Praise Him with the psaltery
and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him
with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud
cymbals. Praise Him upon the high-sounding
cymbals. Let everything that hath breath
praise the Lord. And He closes again. Praise ye
the Lord. God's people are blessed. Blessed. We're blessed people. And we
praise the Lord in our hearts. We praise the Lord in our minds,
with our lips. And we give thanksgiving and
praise to our great God for what He has done. And think on this,
beloved. There was a time when we didn't
praise Him. when we didn't think about Him,
when we didn't love Him. Oh, what a change. The Holy Spirit
rots in us when we're born again by the Holy Spirit of God, when
we're given seeing eyes and hearing ears to see the Savior. Then our hearts are filled with
praise. The heart that didn't praise
is now filled with praise. The lips that didn't praise are
now filled with praise. Praise springs out of a new heart,
a new spirit, and it worships and it adores the great King,
the Lord Jesus Christ. And we seek After He's regenerated
us, after we've been given a new heart, a new spirit, we seek
to give Him all the glory, to give Him all the honor, and to
give Him all the praise. And I know that's a nail we keep
hitting, but it's true. It's true. And from Psalm 146, To 150, the
last five Psalms, they begin and end with this wonderful statement
right here. Praise ye the Lord. Look at Psalm
146. It begins, praise ye the Lord.
It ends, praise ye the Lord. 147, praise ye the Lord. It ends, praise ye the Lord.
148, praise ye the Lord. It ends, praise you the Lord.
149 again, praise you the Lord. Praise you the Lord, it ends
again. And in our text here, it begins and ends again. Most
of the commentators say it means hallelujah. Hallelujah. So the last five psalms begin
and end with hallelujah. Praise you the Lord. Hallelujah
to him. for the great things that He's done. The great things
He's done. And let the redeemed of God cry
out, Alleluia to Him. Now, I know some of the charismatics
have taken that word and they've abused it, but it's not a word
that we shouldn't say. We should give Him praise. We
should give Him glory. And when our hearts are filled
with joy, say Alleluia to Him. It's wonderful, the work that
He's done. In us! So I'd like to look at this wonderful
psalm, this wonderful psalm, and I hope that we can cry out
in praise, praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. God's people are to praise God
because He's our King, and because He alone is worthy of our praise. He alone is worthy of our praise.
We're to praise Him here at church, we're to praise Him at work,
We're to praise him at home. And don't you find, and I don't
mean like just shouting in the middle of work, don't you find
though sometimes you'll be working away at something at home and
you just start giving thanks to God? You just start thanking
him for what he's done for you. It's amazing. And think back,
did you do that before? No, most of us didn't. No, most
of us didn't at all. But now we seek to praise our
God. We seek to adore Him. Because again, He's worthy. He's
worthy. When you're redeemed, it's not
hard to praise God. It's not hard to give Him thanks
and praise. Because all we have to do is
start thinking about the things that He's done for us. And we're
going to look at some of the great things that God has done. Some
of the great things that God has done. Praise flows out of
a grateful heart. And it flows towards God. So
when we get down and depressed, and we will and we do, we need
to look to Christ. We need to look to Him. And just
start thinking about the great blessings daily we're given.
Daily we're given. Think of the fact that we have
air to breathe. That's a gift from God. Oh, and we who believe in Christ
are secure in Him. We're blessed people. We're blessed,
we're secure in Christ. He's purchased us, sealed us,
marked us. Purchased us so with His own
precious blood. We're a purchased possession.
That should fill our hearts with joy. Oh, and we're sinners. We're
sinners though. We go through this world, redeemed
sinners, and it's not by anything we've done at all. It's all because
of the mercy that God's shown us. And that fills our hearts
with praise. That he had mercy on us. That
he didn't leave us where we were. It's incredible. Now here before us in this psalm,
there's a call to praise Jehovah. Thirteen times the word praise
is mentioned. Thirteen times. In just six verses. And some call it the Hallelujah
Chorus because of that. Because he's just continuously,
he's filled with praise. And what a fitting end for the
Psalms. What a fitting end for Psalms. So let's look at this
wonderful Psalm we have before us. And my prayer is the same
as always. I pray that it would build up,
we as saints, that we would be built up. That we would be built
up. And also our prayer is that those
who don't know Christ would be given faith to believe, to praise
Him right along with us, if it be God's will. So let's notice
in this last Psalm, it's praise, praise, praise, all the way through
it. Thirteen times again it's written
the word praise. In six verses, praise Him, praise
Him, praise Him, a total of nine times. One commentator said, it's not
enough to do it once or twice. We who are redeemed should keep
on praising the Lord, because He's worthy. Because He's worthy. He's worthy of it all. So here
before us, we have the psalmist exhorting we who believe to magnify
the Lord Jesus Christ for what He has done and for who He is. Who He is. And again, naturally,
it springs from a redeemed heart as we meditate upon the Lord.
Meditate's another word. We meditate in the sense of thinking.
That's just thinking about Christ. We meditate upon Him. We think
about Christ while we're at home or while we're at work. So let's
look at our text here. It says, Praise ye the Lord.
Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in the firmament of
His power. Now, Jehovah is to be our one object of adoration. We are to praise Him. We are
to praise Him. We're not to praise man. We're
to praise Christ. And every preacher will tell
you, give the praise and glory to God. If you get a blessing
out of the message, praise the Lord. Praise God. He gets all the glory. He gets
all the glory. It all goes to Him. So praise
ye the Lord. And to give, and think of this,
one commentator said this, to give worship or adoration to
anyone else is treason. It's treason. We are to praise
and worship our great King, because He alone is worthy. When we gather
together to hear the preaching of the Gospel, to hear about
Christ and what He's done in the room instead of His people,
and how He bled and died on Calvary Street to satisfy God's law for
His people, it fills our hearts with grace. And we are to give
Him all the glory, and Him all the honor, and Him all the glory,
We come into this oasis, and it is an oasis from the world.
We're out in the world, right? All week long. And this is an
oasis to come. I talked to someone this week,
and they were telling me about, it was Brother Chet, and he was
telling me that he worked in a factory one time with thousands
of folks, or about a thousand people, and he only knew one
other believer, and that was Brother Carrick that was there.
That's desert. This is an oasis. This is an
oasis that we come to and drink. Drink of the water of life. Drink
of the spiritual things about Christ and about what He's done. We worship our great God and
the preacher's one desire, the preacher's one commission from
his general, from his king, is to preach Christ and Him crucified.
To lift Him up. And that's what we want to hear.
We would see Jesus. Oh, it's an oasis. We come here
and we gather together, too, with brothers and sisters in
Christ, like-minded believers. And think of this, too. We're
sojourners, aren't we? We're traveling through a foreign
country, but we seek a better country. We seek a better country. And the good news from afar is
the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel of Christ. Turn, if
you would, to Exodus, chapter 34. Now it says in our text,
it continues, praise God, praise God. And God here is Elohim.
Elohim. The great God in covenant and
in power who has entered into a covenant to save His people
and to bless them. Elohim. Praise God. Praise Elohim
in His sanctuary. El, or Elohim. And Elohim speaks of His power.
Of His power. Exodus 34, verses 6-10, And the LORD passed
by him, Exodus 34, starting in verse 6, And the Lord passed
before him and proclaimed, The Lord God, merciful and gracious,
long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth. That's our
King. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, and oh, what
iniquity He's forgiven for His people, and transgression and
sin. And that will by no means clear
the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
and upon the children's children unto the third and to the fourth
generation. And Moses made haste and bowed
his head toward the earth and worshipped. He said, if now I
have found grace in thy sight, that is what God's people have.
They've found grace in the sight of God. Oh, now if I have found
grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among
us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity. Has he not pardoned the iniquity
of all his people? And our sin, and take us for
thine inheritance. We are Christ's inheritance.
And he said, Behold, I make a covenant before all thy people. I will
do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in
any nation, in all the people among which thou shalt see the
work of the Lord, for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
The God of all power, El Shaddai, the God of all power and might,
This is what our text says. Praise God. Let's go back to
Psalm 150. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God. Else should die in His sanctuary. Our great God is a covenant God
with all power and might. Hebrews says this, Now the God
of peace that bought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting
covenant, Christ's blood was shed to ratify the everlasting
covenant of grace. where God chose his people in
eternity. So here before us is an exhortation
to praise and worship the God of the universe. The God who has all power. The
almighty God. Praise God in his sanctuary.
Praise El Shaddai in his sanctuary. The one who has all power. All
power. What a mighty God. We who are
here in God's house are here to worship and adore Him. To
give Him the glory and the praise. In the church below and in the
courts above, hallelujahs are continuously presented before
the throne of God. Praise God in the sanctuary.
Now think of this too. In the person of Jesus Christ.
God finds a holy dwelling, or a sanctuary, and He is greatly
praised. Turn, if you would, to Colossians
2 and 1 Timothy 3.16. Colossians 2. The Lord Jesus
Christ is holy in both His natures. He is often called God's Holy
One, the Holy One of Israel. His human nature is a tabernacle,
or temple, wherein the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily. Colossians 2, verse 9 says this,
For in Him, being Christ, dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead
bodily. And in turn, if you would, 1
Timothy 3.16. I was reading a comment by John
Calvin on John 2.19, and I'll read the portion that he spoke
of when the Lord said, destroy this temple, and in three days
I'll raise it up. He said, the Son of God clothed Himself with
our nature in such a manner that the eternal majesty of God dwelt
in the flesh, which He assumed as in His sanctuary. And then look at 1 Timothy 3,
verse 16. Our Lord Jesus Christ, God incarnate
in the flesh. Scripture declares this. And
without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God
was manifested, manifest in the flesh. He's God. God incarnate in the flesh. Fully
man and fully God. God was manifest in the flesh.
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
When we meet here and we preach and proclaim Christ, we're proclaiming
what God has done for His people. God was manifest in the flesh. It's incredible. Our text continues in Psalm 150. Praise Him in the firmament of
His power. Here we lift our eyes toward
the heavenly sanctuary. And may our hearts be filled
in awe, in adoration as we look at this. The firmament of his
power, the majesty, the majesty of the glory of God is on display
when we think of him in his heavenly sanctuary. He rules. He reigns. Angels. Turn, if you would, to
Revelation 5. Angels in the redeemed worship
Him. They worship Him. They fall down
before Him. They worship Him with adoration. This is our Savior. This is the
One who became a man. Revelation 5, 11 and 12, And
I beheld and heard the voice of many angels round about the
throne, and the beasts and the elders, and the number of them
was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands and thousands. Saying with a loud voice, Worthy
is the Lamb. Oh, He's the only one who's worthy
to receive all praise, to receive all adoration, Worthy is the
Lamb that was slain. He was slain to redeem His people
from their sins. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain
to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor
and glory and blessings. Blessing. Oh, the Lord is worthy
to be praised here and throughout the universe. He is worthy. The angelic hosts bow down before
him and worship him. And to think that man thinks
that he's waiting upon their supposed free will? Do you see
how much folly that is? This is the God of the universe.
This is the one who holds Adams together. It's incredible. The one who angels bow down before. What a mighty God. Turn, if you would, or continue
down to 13 and 14 in Revelation 5. And every creature which is
in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such
as are in the sea, and all they that are in them, heard I saying,
blessing, and honor, and glory, and power be unto him that sitteth
upon the throne. He rules. He rules. He's not
waiting to rule. The Lord Jesus Christ rules and
reigns right now. And unto the Lamb forever and
ever. And the four beasts said, Amen.
And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped Him
that liveth forever and ever. Oh, what a great God. Worthy
is the Lamb. He's worthy. He's worthy. of all our praises. And then
our text continues. It says the firmament of His
power. The firmament of His power. This
speaks of His control. His control over all the universe,
over all visible things, over all invisible things. We are to praise Him because
He has all power. He is El Shaddai. He has all
power. He's almighty. He's King. Turn, if you would, to Genesis
1. The firmament of His power speaks of the heavens above.
The sun, the moon, the stars, and all the galaxies were placed
in the firmament. Genesis 1, verses 14-18. And God said, let there be lights
in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night.
And let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and
years. And let them be for lights in
the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth. And
it was so. God said it. And it was so. This is a God who has all power. And God made two great lights.
The greater light to rule the day. He just spoke it into existence. And the lesser light to rule
the night. He made the stars also. They manifest his glory. And God set them in the firmament
of the heaven to give light upon the earth and to rule over the
day and over the night and to divide the light from the darkness.
And God saw that it was good. God created this universe, space,
and all that we see in the vastness of the space out of nothing but
by the word of his power. See, we need things to create
things. God doesn't. He just says and
it's so. And he became a man and died
on Calvary's tree for his people. What a majestic, mighty, sovereign
God we have who created all these things. And the Lord Jesus Christ became
a man. God incarnated in the flesh and died on Calvary's cross
in the place of sinners to redeem our eternal souls. Think of the condescension. Think
of how low he came. And he did that to redeem his
people from their sins. No wonder the angels were in
awe. Let's look at verse 2. And think
of this too before we move on. Think of this. As I mentioned
earlier, folks in religion, they don't have this God. They have
a God who they control supposedly. That's not the God of the Bible.
This is the God of the Bible, the almighty, all-powerful, all-sovereign
God, and we are at His mercy. Where it is, mercy. Does it not
make salvation so sweet, so wondrous, that He saves His people from
their sins? Look at verse 2. This is a wonderful
verse. Praise Him for His mighty axe. Praise Him according to
His excellent greatness. It just continues. Praise. Praise
Him for His mighty axe. Turn, if you would, to Daniel
chapter 2. What are some of His mighty acts?
Well, we praise Him for His mighty act of creation. And we praise
Him for His continued care and sovereignty over all things.
I like to eat oatmeal in the morning. Vicki put some bananas
in my oatmeal today. And we always thank God for how
He providentially brought that food to our table. He did that. And I said, I wonder
where the Lord bought the bananas from. Because he did. He bought
the bananas from wherever they were growing, to the grocer,
to our table. He provides for his people. So
next time you're having a meal, think of that. God has provided
that food right before you. It's incredible. Daily, and we
don't even think of that sometimes. But it's incredible. It's incredible. Oh, we praise him for his mighty
acts of creation, act of creation. Look at Daniel chapter 2, verses
20 to 23. Daniel answered and said, blessed
be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are
his. He changes the times and the seasons. He does this. We're
in summer now. He does that. He removeth kings
and setteth up kings. He knows who's going to be president.
He already knows. We don't. You put in whomever
He's pleased. It's incredible. He raises up
governments, He raises up kings, and He removes them, and He setteth
up kings. He giveth wisdom unto the wise
and knowledge to them that know understanding. He reveals the
deep and secret things. He knoweth what is in the darkness
and the light dwelleth with Him. I thank Thee and praise Thee,
Thou God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and
has made known unto me now what we desired of thee. For thou
hast made known unto us the king's matter. And God makes known to us Christ
by his Holy Spirit. He reveals Christ to us. We didn't
know him. I didn't know him. until He revealed
Himself. Oh, what a mighty God. God in
His providence, He provides food, though, and He provides it to
all. Turn, if you would, to Psalm
145. He provides food to all. Is this not mercy, even those
who curse Him? He provides food to all. Look at Psalm 145, verses 15-17. The eyes of all wait upon Thee,
and Thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest Thine
hand and satisfy the desire of what? Every living thing. What mercy! And then it says,
The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His
works. What a merciful God! We praise
Him for His mighty act of creation. He spoke it and it was so. We saw that in Genesis chapter
1. We praise Him for His mighty act of salvation. God purposed
and planned and executed salvation for His people in the Lord Jesus
Christ according as He has chosen us in Him. for the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love. Mighty act of salvation. We praise Him for the mighty
act of redemption. We could never do that. We could
never pay for one of our sins, not one. Christ dies on the cross to redeem
His people. He redeemed our eternal soul.
What a mighty act of redemption. He lived a perfect life before
God's law as the sinner's substitute. And then he dies on Calvary's
tree in the place of his people as the sinner's substitute. What
a mighty act of redemption. It's incredible. And the Almighty
God did this. The Lord Jesus Christ. Luke chapter 18 says this, and
they heard it and said, who then can be saved? How can we be saved by our works?
We can't, right? And he said, the things which
are impossible with men are possible with God. He's the sinner's substitute. Things which are impossible with
man are possible with God. God incarnate
in the flesh. The Lord Jesus Christ. Turn, if you would, to John 19.
The Lord Jesus Christ pays all that God's law and justice demands
in the place of His people, and God is absolutely satisfied with
the sacrifice of Christ, with the payment that He made, a mighty
act of redemption. And the Lord Jesus Christ did
it all by Himself. He didn't make it possible for
us to be saved. He saved us. He saved us, and
this fills the believer's heart with praise, because we know
we could never save ourselves. Look at John 19, verses 28 to
30. And after this, Jesus, knowing
that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
saith, I thirst. Verse 29 of chapter 19, now there was said
a vessel of vinegar. He's thirsty, and they stick
vinegar. And they filled the sponge with vinegar and put it
upon Hyssop and put it to his mouth. And when Jesus had therefore
had received the vinegar, he said, it is finished. What a mighty act of redemption. Finished. Is this not a mighty
act of God? Oh, does it not fill your heart
with praise, beloved? It's finished. It's accomplished. Nothing to be added. Sinner friend, this is our hope.
Christ. It's finished. It's finished. What a mighty act. What a mighty
act of redemption. He bowed his head and gave up
the ghost. Let we who are redeemed sing
mighty praises to our King. Praises of faith and love and
thankfulness. It is finished. It's incredible. God's law and
justice are satisfied in the place of his people in Christ.
And we also praise them for the mighty act of regeneration. Where
the sinner is born again by the Holy Spirit of God. We could
never do that. Now people reform themselves
all the time supposedly, but they end up just going back to
what they were. Oh, those who are born again by the Holy Spirit
of God, they hate sin more in themselves than anywhere else. What happens when the Holy Spirit
regenerates us? We run right to Christ. We flee
to Christ. We flee to Him. We look to Heaven. We thank Him
for His mighty act of redemption. Let us praise God the Father
for redemption. Let us praise God the Son for
redemption. And let us praise the Holy Spirit
of God for our redemption. Let us praise the holy, undivided
three-in-one, our great God, the Trinity. Turn, if you would,
to Psalm 136. We praise Him for His mighty
acts of mercy, His mighty acts of mercy towards His people in
Christ Jesus. I've obtained mercy, and so have
you. If you're saved, you've obtained
mercy. And look at this psalm. I'm not
going to read the whole thing, but we're going to read parts of
it. This is incredible. Psalm 136. Sin's forgiven. Why do we praise Him? Sin's forgiven. Payment's made. It's finished.
Sin's forgiven. Pardoned fully. Justification
before God. Clothed in the righteousness
where we can appear before God. Eternal life in Christ. And then
when we die, we'll be in His presence. Look at this in Psalm
136. O give thanks unto the Lord,
for He is good. And may these words just ring
in our ear. For His mercy endureth forever. O give thanks unto the
God of gods, for His mercy endureth forever. O give thanks to the
Lord of lords, for His mercy endureth forever. To Him who
alone doth great wonders, for His mercy endureth forever. To
Him that by wisdom made the heavens, for His mercy endureth forever.
To Him that stretched out the earth above the waters, for His
mercy endureth forever. Forever. To Him that made great
lights, for His mercy endureth forever. The sun to rule by day,
for His mercy to endure forever. The moon and the stars to rule
by night, for His mercy endureth forever. And then down to verse
23. Who remembered us in our lowest
states. Oh, what a state we were in. Dead and trespasses and sins. With no hope. Oh, God has mercy upon his people,
who remember us in our lowest day, for his mercy endureth forever,
forever, beloved, and hath redeemed us from our enemies, for his
mercy endureth forever, who giveth food to all flesh, for his mercy
endureth forever. Oh, give thanks unto the God
of heaven, for his mercy endureth forever. Forever. Oh, the mighty acts of His mercy. It endures forever, beloved. What a great God. What a great
God. Our psalm continues in verse
2. Praise Him according to His excellent
greatness. Our God is unlimited in His power.
Let us praise him for his greatness. He's unlimited in his power.
We're limited. He's not. He's unlimited. He's El Shaddai, the almighty
God. Let us ponder his excellent greatness. Let us praise him for the greatness
of his power and of his majesty and of his sovereignty. He is absolutely sovereign. And
He rules over His entire creation with all power. All power. And He's all-powerful and all-knowing. So let us praise Him for the
greatness of His knowledge. God possesses perfect knowledge. And therefore, He has no need
to learn. He doesn't learn like we do.
He's never learned and He cannot learn. He knows all things. He's omniscient. He's all-knowing. He knows everything. And beloved,
His knowledge is infinite. I remember talking to Brother
Donnie one time, and we were talking about preaching. He said he had been talking to
Scott Richardson. Brother Scott often used to say,
well, one of these days I'm going to learn how to preach. Brother Donnie said to me, one
of these days, Wayne, I'm going to learn how to preach. I say
to you, one of these days I'm going to learn how to preach. It's so infinite who God is that
our words seem so insufficient. But we preach what we know. And we praise Him according to
His excellent greatness. He's a great God. He's a Savior. He saves His people. I know this because He saved
my soul. I was once dead in trespasses
and sins, but He's made me alive in Christ. And now my heart's
filled with praise. This great God we have. Let us
also praise our great God for the greatness of His holiness.
The greatness of His holiness. Now this attribute sets God apart
from everything He's created. He is absolute holiness, beloved. Absolute holiness. Perfect holiness. Sin cannot be in His presence.
Pure holiness. Pure righteousness. And only in Christ can we stand
in His presence. Only in Christ. Can we stand
in his holy presence, clothed in the righteousness of Christ?
Think of this, too. I found this in one of the commentators. He was saying, think of the places
where he appeared. He appeared at the burning bush.
He appeared before Joshua. What was said about that place
just by his appearance? It was holy ground. He's pure
holy in this place. We're sin, pure sin, and He's
pure holiness. Oh, what a great God. And He
makes us holy to be able to stand in His presence by the righteousness
of Christ. Turn, if you would, to 1 Timothy.
1 Timothy. Let us praise our God for the
greatness of His mercy. And we looked at that in Psalm
136. Let us praise God for the greatness
of His mercy and it endures forever, forever. I ask you this, did God not show
you who believe? Did God not show you and manifest
His mercy to you when He saved you? Oh my. I think of how I was and the
words that used to come out of my mouth. And God saved me. The very one who used to curse
him. And he saved my eternal soul.
And now I praise him for what he's done. It's incredible. He had mercy upon His people. We get mercy. We don't get what
we deserve. If we got what we deserve, we'd
be in hell. But we don't get what we deserve. God's people
receive mercy. Mercy in Christ. Oh, and God showed and manifested
His mercy in the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary's cross. in
the place of sinners. Look at 1 Timothy 1.12-17 in
all the greatness of the mercy of God. And I thank Christ Jesus
our Lord who hath enabled me for that. He counted me faithful,
put me into the ministry. Who was before a blasphemer and
a persecutor? Paul went out and made havoc
in the church. and injurious, but I obtained
mercy. Oh, I ask you who believe, do
you not cry out that too? I obtained mercy. Mercy. Oh, I obtained mercy. I didn't
deserve it, but I obtained it. It was given to me. because I did it ignorantly in
unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant
with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful
saying and worthy of all acceptation that Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners of whom I am chief." Every believer says
that too, don't we? Halibate for this cause again.
I obtain mercy. I obtain mercy. that in me first
Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering for a pattern
to them which should hereafter believe on Him to everlasting
life. And here comes now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible,
the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Do you see why? We just praise Him. We just obtain mercy. He did
it all. Christ did it all. And this is
why we say, flee to Christ. He is the sinner's only hope. Jesus Christ. The believer in Christ has obtained
mercy. He's obtained mercy. The Lord
hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee
with an everlasting love. Therefore, with lovingkindness
have I drawn thee. Mercy didn't leave us where we
were. didn't pass us by. Pass me not,
O gentle Savior. Oh, let us praise Him for the
greatness of His grace. Let us praise Him for the greatness
of His redemption which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Let us
praise Him for the greatness of His wisdom. Let us praise
Him for the greatness of His faithfulness. God is faithful. Let us praise Him for the greatness
of His being, who He is, God Almighty. And then our psalm
continues verses 3 to 5. Praise him with the sound of
the trumpet. Praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise
him with the timbrel and dance. Praise him with stringed instruments
and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals.
Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. In the days of the Levitical
type and chattel musical instruments of every form and power contributed
to swell the melody. Now when we gather together,
may our hearts be filled with praise as we worship our King,
our Great King, our Almighty God. And may we praise Him with
grateful hearts. And then it closes with verse
6. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the
Lord. Here is a fit and close to the
book of Psalms. A fit and close. Oh, we're commanded
here, let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. And remember,
our breath even is a gift from God. Oh, may we praise Him. May we worship our great King.
This week, may we think about the greatness of our God. The
greatness of His mighty axe. Oh, salvation is of the Lord.
