That is why the world hates you. By Charles Simeon It is enough
for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like
his master. If the head of the house has
been called Beelzebub, how much more will they malign the members
of his household. Matthew 10.25 If the world hates you, keep
in mind that it hated me first. If you belong to the world, it
would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to
the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is
why the world hates you. John chapter 15 verses 18 to
19 The ungodly have always hated
the saints in proportion as they bear the divine image and appear
to be objects of God's saving love. In fact, everyone who wants
to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 2 Timothy
3.12 In the days of the apostles,
the saints were looked upon as the scum of the earth, the refuse
of the world. 1 Corinthians 4.13 In fact, there is no one thing
which will render people more universally despised than vital
godliness. Every description of men, the
moral and the immoral, the proud Pharisee and the scoffing infidel,
are alike hostile to the true Christian. The whole world will
hate a genuine follower of Christ. To the whole world, Jesus himself
was a butt of ridicule, and all who designated him Beelzebub
will be sure to find some sufficiently debasing name for the purpose
of characterizing his faithful disciples. All men will hate
you because of me, but he who endures to the end will be saved. Matthew chapter 10 verse 22 Blessed are you when people insult
you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against
you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because
great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted
the prophets who were before you. Matthew chapter 5 verses
11 to 12
