You say drug use is a disease like cancer. You say that we haven't found the cure. But you're wrong. There is a cure!

This past Sunday, Pastor Kent W. Clark broke down the difference between "drug problem" and "sin problem". We don't have a drug problem, we have a sin problem; we have not seen ourselves as sinners!
"Why would I beat and abuse the woman I say I love? Why would I desert my children? Why would I break the hearts of my aging parents? Because I refuse to see the enemy, and it's me!"

You know, Wednesday night, we
graduated nearly 100 people. You know what that says to me?
That's 100 almost drug addicts that aren't dead and aren't going
to die. I hear people saying all the
time, well, you know, we just have no remedy for this heroin
epidemic that's taking place in our country. But that's not
so. We do have a remedy for drug addiction. It's Jesus Christ.
I know what you're saying. That's just way too simple. You know, Narcon is the new deliverer. How many of you have had Narcon? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,
11, 12, 13, 14, 15. 15, 16, 17, how did that work? Pretty good?
No? Within a short time, you OD'd
again. You know what Narcon is, it'll
bring you back. I'm telling you, the only true
deliverer is Jesus Christ, who will change your heart. You say
drug use is a disease, like cancer, or heart disease. You say, as
yet we have not found a cure. But I would say to you, you're
wrong. There is a cure. and Grace Centers
of Hope, and Grace Gospel Fellowship, and 52 houses, and people getting
married, and their children coming to know Christ, and following
their Lord in baptism, putting families back together through
the gospel of Jesus Christ is the answer. And it's a miracle. We don't have a drug problem,
we have a sin problem. You know sin is real. I don't
know whether you knew that or not. The real problem is you
haven't seen yourself as a sinner. I ask myself this, or I know
this to be true, at the root of all evil, you'll find self. When you get to the end of the
road, you'll find the enemy is enemy. You'd be surprised the ridiculous
stories I've heard in 35, 40 years here at Grace Centers.
I had a guy steal our van. He stole one of our vans. And
when we caught up with him, he said, Pastor, I'm telling you
the truth. I've never experienced anything like this. He said,
I was pulling out a McDonald's in Waterford and the devil just
took over the steering wheel and turned it toward Detroit.
And I went and used for seven days. The devil didn't make you
do that. You did that. You know why? Because
you're self-centered. God has to kill your self-centeredness. You're all about self. Really,
the cure is the opposite of self-centeredness, it's other-centeredness. But it takes a miracle transplant
to cause you to be other-centered. You have to have a new heart.
It's not your fingers or your toes that messes you up, it's
your heart. the seat of your affection. And
only God can give you a new heart. But what a miracle that is. It's
called the new birth. I know it's outdated. I know
it's old fashioned. I heard people say that all the time. You're
one of those old time religion guys, aren't you? Basically,
yes, but not religion. I'm a Christian. I hate religion.
I really do. Let me ask you a few questions
here. Why would I beat and abuse the woman I say I love? You got
a good answer for that? Why would I desert my children?
Why would I break the hearts of my aged parents? I'll tell
you why. Because I refuse to see the enemy
and it's me. I do not have sight to see what
I do not want to see. Seeing the enemy and recognizing
the enemy, that he's in me this morning. I hope you come face
to face with the enemy. That you realize there is a God
and He opens your eyes. And I'm telling you, Narcan is not the Savior. Jesus
Christ is. And I would call upon you today,
right now, to look at your past. Up to right now. Just take a
good look at it. See how self-oriented it is.
