This Past Sunday, Pastor Kent W. Clark dove into the topic of fear. He shared with us his experiences growing up with certain teachings within the Church, where their teachings were designed to scare the hell out of you. But this doesn't work!
In our flesh dwells no good thing. And it's the great love of God that draws us to Himself.
God is not angry with us. We are a mess, and in our flesh dwells no good thing. But Jesus Christ has paid the price; He's been the propitiation.
When that day comes, we're going to point to the one who sits on the throne, the one with five wounds in His body. He is our right, our propitiation, our redemption; we are complete in Him, there is no condemnation for us, because He paid it all!

When I was a young boy growing
up in the church, I mean, there was a lot of fear in my life.
I just, you know, no preacher ever told me about Romans 7,
that in my flesh dwells no good thing. And I was having a, I
thought for sure, and in our church, many times they tried
to scare the hell out of you. That doesn't work either. It's
the great enormous love of God that brings us to Himself, draws
us to Himself, and we fall in love with Him. And there is no
need to fear. I don't know what you're fearing.
But I used to hear this, you know, you may be saved, but you're
going to have to give an account for everything you've ever done
in your life. Huh? ever wicked thought you've ever
had, huh? I like to hear this, Jesus paid
it all, all the debt I owe. In this was manifested the love
of God toward us because that God sent his only begotten son
into the world that we might live through Him. Here in His
love, not that we love God, but that He loved us and sent His
Son to be the propitiation, the appeasing factor for our sins. God is not angry with you. You
are a mess and so am I. And in our flesh dwells no good
thing. But Jesus has paid the price. He's been the propitiation. The price has been paid. You're
not going to have to go to purgatory. There is no purgatory for the
believer, absent from the body present with the Lord. Herein
is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness. Boldness? When? in the day of judgment."
Wait a minute, boldness in the day of judgment? Absolutely. Boldness. Because as He is, so
are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but
perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath torment. He
that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love Him because
He first loved us. That word perfect there means
mature. Are you mature in the love of God? If you're mature
in the love of God, you know He paid the price. And you can
have boldness, not in your self-works, but boldness in this, that He
actually redeemed you. He paid the price for your sins. And there's no judgment for you.
after this life. Bonus. What right do you have
to be here, Kent Clark? I'm going to point to that one
who sits on a throne with five wounds in his body. The Lord
Jesus. He is my right. He is my propitiation. He is my redemption. I am complete
in him. There is no condemnation for
me because he paid it all. That's the truth.

Pristine Grace functions as a digital library of preaching and teaching from many different men and ministries. I maintain a broad collection for research, study, and listening, and the presence of any preacher or message here should not be taken as a blanket endorsement of every doctrinal position expressed.
I publish my own convictions openly and without hesitation throughout this site and in my own preaching and writing. This archive is not a denominational clearinghouse. My aim in maintaining it is to preserve historic and contemporary preaching, encourage careful study, and above all direct readers and listeners to the person and work of Christ.
