In the sermon "Typology 101," preacher John Chapman emphasizes the theological doctrine of typology, particularly as it relates to the Old Testament and its foreshadowing of Jesus Christ. He articulates that the Old Testament scriptures, especially Exodus 25:1-9, reveal various types and shadows of Christ, underscoring that understanding these requires divine grace and revelation. By examining the materials used in the tabernacle and their significance—gold representing Christ’s deity, silver for atonement, brass for His dual nature, and various colors symbolizing His perfect qualities—Chapman argues that these elements illustrate the fullness of salvation provided through Jesus. He highlights that God’s intention to dwell among His redeeming people is fulfilled in Christ, who is the central figure of worship, and emphasizes the importance of approaching God through Christ alone. This serves as both a doctrinal reminder of the sufficiency of Christ in redemption and an encouragement for believers to recognize His presence in their lives.

Key Quotes

“All of these are types of Christ... the Lord is walking us through the history of redemption.”

“The only ground on which He [God] can dwell with His redeemed people is in Christ.”

“Everything we have, God's given to us. What do you have that you did not receive?”

“Worship is now going to be centralized. It’s now going to be centralized. We worship God in Christ.”

What does the Bible say about typology?

Typology in the Bible shows how Old Testament figures and events foreshadow Christ.

Typology is the study of symbols and types in Scripture, especially how they point to the person and work of Jesus Christ. In Exodus 25, we see examples of types that serve to illustrate God's plan of redemption through Christ. These types include objects from the Old Testament, such as the sanctuary, which represent God's presence among His people and foreshadow the ultimate dwelling of God with humanity in Christ. Without close examination, many may overlook these signs that point to Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and shadows.

Exodus 25:1-9

How do we know Christ's deity is true?

The Bible asserts Christ's deity by revealing Him as God incarnate.

The deity of Christ is affirmed throughout Scripture. John 1:14 proclaims that 'the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,' indicating that Jesus is God in human form. Additionally, Hebrews 1:8 states, 'But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever,' illustrating that the Father Himself recognizes the Son as God. This dual nature of Christ as fully God and fully man is essential to our understanding of His redemption, as it qualifies Him to bear the sins of humanity while still being the eternal God.

John 1:14, Hebrews 1:8

Why is atonement important for Christians?

Atonement is crucial because it reconciles sinners to God through Christ's sacrifice.

Atonement refers to the reconciliation between God and humanity achieved through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. In Scripture, particularly Exodus 30:12-16, the concept of atonement is presented as a payment for sin. The blood of Christ, as noted in 1 Peter 1:18-19, is the ultimate means of redemption and represents God's provision for our sinfulness. For Christians, the understanding of atonement underscores the depth of God's grace and love, as He willingly provided His Son to satisfy His justice and allow us to enter into a relationship with Him.

Exodus 30:12-16, 1 Peter 1:18-19

What does the Bible say about Christ as the fulfillment of the law?

Christ fulfills the law and the prophets through His perfect obedience and sacrificial death.

Jesus affirms in Matthew 5:17 that He did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. This fulfillment encompasses His perfect adherence to the law as well as His role as the ultimate sacrifice for sin. In typological terms, various elements in the Tabernacle (as described in Exodus 25) represent aspects of Christ’s ministry and obedience. In fulfilling the requirements of the law, Christ embodies God's righteous standard, allowing believers to be justified through faith in Him rather than through works of the law. This highlights the grace given to us through Christ, which is foundational to understanding our salvation.

Turn back to Exodus chapter 25, chapter 25. I titled this, I had several titles before I finally settled on this one, and once I finally settled on this one, then I understood the message. As I said, I have to get the title first. But I titled this TYPOLOGY 101 because that's what we have here. All of these are types of Christ.

This is why we have this given to us in the Old Testament. Here in Exodus 25 and throughout the Old Testament we are given pictures, types, and shadows of our Lord. You know, in the Old Testament, the Lord is walking us through the history of redemption. We get to see the history of redemption. And He's doing it in a way that we can understand by His grace.

Apart from His grace in Revelation, we can never understand the types as they relate to the Lord Jesus Christ. You know, many of those Israelites missed it. They had it right there in front of them, and they did not see Christ in the types. Some saw beyond them, those whom the Lord saved. Remember what Paul said, Not all who are of Israel are Israel. Not all of them, but those who were, those whom the Lord had saved, those whom the Lord had chosen, they could see beyond the types. They could see and understand that The LORD was their salvation. Jehovah is their salvation. They could see that. Isaiah, when he wrote chapter 23, which was not written in a chapter, but when he wrote those verses, he was writing of the Messiah. And I believe he understood what he was writing. I believe he did.

But those who by grace and revelation, they see in these types their Lord and their Savior. Our Lord said this in Matthew 13, verse 16, Blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. Blessed when you can read the Scriptures, and the Old Testament Scriptures especially, and you can see Christ, you can see the Lord Jesus Christ in all of these.

And I'm going to do that this morning. I'm only going to work with the first nine verses. I had, and I got carried away, but I had notes all the way down through verse 22. And I got up this morning and going over it again, I thought, that's way, that's way too much information in one sitting. You need to just take your time. Just take your time. Nobody's in a hurry. We're not in a hurry. And let's look at these things in the light of Christ And let's just soak it in. Soak it in.

Now the people here have been redeemed. They came out of Egypt. You know, as I was reading this, it piqued my interest and I went over to Acts chapter 7 where Stephen just gives the history. He gives them a history lesson of redemption and what the Lord's done for them and he brings it all the way up to the Lord Jesus Christ. And what did they do? They got mad, stoned him, and killed him over the truth. But the people here that this has reference to were redeemed by the blood, remember the Passover Lamb in Egypt? Redeemed by blood and by power. They passed through the Red Sea. God has brought them to this place.

And now the Lord declares, He declares here and I believe it's in verse 8, His gracious purpose. Let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them. Here is the purpose of God revealed, that I may dwell among them. I'll be their God and they'll be my people. That's what it says over in Revelation, when all is said and done, God said I'll be their God and they shall be my people and I'll dwell among them. And this chapter is about God's will to dwell with His redeemed people. It's an amazing thought to think that God in all His greatness and all His glory and all His infinite being would dwell, be pleased to dwell with us, with worms like us, sinners like us.

One of the things that the Pharisees accused our Lord of was this, it was really a compliment, but they didn't mean it as a compliment. This man receiveth sinners and he eats with them. They meant it as they were slamming him for it, but it was really a great compliment. God, the God of heaven and earth receives sinners and He eats with them, He fellowships with them.

And oh, by His grace this morning, I pray that the Lord will be pleased to fellowship with us this morning. Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst. You believe that? I do, I believe that. The Lord said He'd be there, He's here in spirit. That's just as real as the body, isn't it? That's every bit as real as the Lord's physical, fleshly presence. BEING HERE IN SPIRIT. Because the scripture says, GOD IS SPIRIT. And Jesus Christ is God. He's God. So God is among us this morning. He's among us.

And the only ground, listen, He said God is going to dwell with His redeemed people and the only ground on which He can do so is in Christ. no other way on no other grounds no other grounds and we have this in picture and type now he says in verse 9 he says to Moses he says you make this you make this this sanctuary according to all that i show show thee after the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all the instruments thereof even so shall you make it This had absolutely no human design in it. Christ is of God. Moses, the Levites, did not design one thing, not one thing. Christ said, A body hast thou prepared me, Christ is of God, that human nature, that man is of God.

He's of God's creation. He's of God's purpose. I am fearfully, he said in the Psalms, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. He was begotten by the Holy Spirit in the womb of a virgin. Now as we go down through this, we are going to see the dual nature of the Lord Jesus Christ. He's God and He's man, but He's yet one person. He's one person. But our Lord is the fulfillment of this.

It says in John 1.14, the Word was made flesh. The Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God.

It was made flesh and dwelt, and that word dwelt means this, tabernacled. That's what it means, He tabernacled. It's like that tabernacle in the wilderness. He tabernacled, listen, among us, among us. The tabernacle was God's dwelling with Israel. It is where His presence was made known. And Christ is God dwelling with us in the flesh. That's who He is.

That young man came up to the Lord and he said, good master. And the Lord stopped him right there. I mean he stopped him. He said, why do you call me good? There's none good but God. If I am good, it's because I'm God. If I'm good, it's because I'm God. He stopped him right there and straightened him out. Because all he saw, and the Lord knew the man's heart, he knew exactly what was going through that man's heart, but all that man saw was a good man doing good deeds. And the Lord said, I'm not a good man doing good deeds, I'm God. I am God in the flesh. He said to his disciples, he that has seen me has seen the Father. You're looking at the Father when you're looking at me. That's what he's telling his disciples. Listen to Colossians 2, 9 and 10.

For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, in Him the whole fullness of God dwells in Him. You cannot see the whole fullness of God dwelling in the Law, can you? You can't see it. You can see the holiness of God, the strictness of God, the righteousness of God, but you cannot see the mercy and grace of God until you turn and see it in the face of Jesus Christ. That's where we see God's grace and mercy. That's where we see the completeness of God. That's why it says and you are complete in him. I don't need any more than Christ. I don't need any more. God has given to us absolutely everything we need in Jesus Christ.

Just like this tabernacle and all the furniture, everything about it was given of God and not one thing was added to it after that. Nothing was added to it. Not a thing. Just like when God put Adam and Eve in the garden. God finished creation. He finished the garden, made it like He willed to make it, and then He put them in it and they added nothing to it. They brought nothing to it, added nothing to it. It was complete. And that's exactly the way glory is going to be. We bring nothing to it. Nothing. And I've said to you more than once, The day I die and by God's grace stand in glory, the first thing I'm going to realize is this, I had nothing to do with it. It's all on Him. Every bit of it.

Now we pick up here in verse 2 and He shows us here what true worship is. We have a real glimpse here of true worship. Listen. Speaking to the children of Israel, speaking to Moses, that they bring me an offering of every man that gives it willingly WITH HIS HEART. YOU SHALL TAKE MY OFFERING. THE LORD CALLS FOR OFFERINGS, BUT THEY ARE TO COME FROM A WILLING HEART. WORSHIP IS WILLING. IT'S A WILLINGNESS. IT'S A WILLINGNESS. GOD DOES NOT FORCE DEVOTION. GOD DOES NOT FORCE WORSHIP. WE WORSHIP HIM WILLINGLY.

You know what this says in Psalm 110? thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power when he gives that new heart oh we're willing to worship god we're willing to give of what he's given to us you see we've got to recognize that in giving we're only giving back what's his you know your gifts this morning when you came in you know you gave some gifts to support this ministry do you know what you gave this morning What He gave you?

What He gave you? Everything we have, God's given to us. What do you have, Paul said to the Corinthians? What do you have that you did not receive? Everything we have, and we just give a small portion of it back each week. That's all we do. We give back what He's given to us. Now we're going to look at the materials for this tabernacle that God gave to Moses, and they have great meaning.

Let's not just read over and just go past it. There's great meaning in every detail here. I've told you this, there are no fillers in the Word of God. I mean these have great meaning. And you know what the first one he starts with? Gold. Gold. He starts with gold because it represents His purity. It represents Deity. It is incorruptible. Our Lord is incorruptible. It points to the divine nature of Jesus Christ. As I already read to you, in the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. It points to His divine nature. Gold! He starts with gold. We've got to start with God first, don't we? You can throw it into trash if He's not God. If Jesus Christ is not God, He's not any better than you or me. That's why He's telling that young man, if I'm not God, I'm not good.

Hebrews 1.8, But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God.

This is God. Now listen, this is God speaking to God. But there's only one God. There are three distinct personalities in the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are very real. But here is God speaking to God and He says unto the Son, He said, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom. This is God the Father recognizing God the Son on the same level, on the same level. But there's only one God.

And then silver. Silver, this is in verse 3. This is the offering which you shall take of them, gold, silver, and brass. And it starts out with this. Gold, the deity of Christ. Silver, you know what silver is here? Well, if you go over in Exodus chapter 30. Just turn over a few pages. It's the atonement money. It was used as atonement money for this period of time. In Exodus, let me see, look in verse 12, 12 through 16.

When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them, that there be no plague among them when thou numberest them. This they shall give every one that passeth among them that are numbered half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary. which was made of silver, a shekel is 20 giras, and a half-shekel shall be the offering of the Lord. Everyone that passes among them that are numbered from 20 years old and above shall give an offering unto the Lord. The rich, now this is important, the rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel when they give an offering unto the Lord to make an atonement for your souls. There's only one price. only one price for the soul, that s the blood of Christ.

You know, the rich don t give more, and the poor don t give less. And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the Lord to make an atonement for your souls. It's the atonement money, that's what it's for. You see we start out with DEITY and here we have ATONEMENT!

You know, and boy this was interesting for me, I went on YouTube, I mean I use what the Lord's given me to study, and I got a 3D animation of the tabernacle, all of it, the priesthood, everything. It was just a 3D animation, piece by piece, coming together.

And that acacia wood that was used for the tabernacle, it was set on those sockets of silver. You know what a tenon is on a piece of wood, it goes down to a socket. And it was two to a block of silver. It sat on that all the way around. That tabernacle sat on that silver all the way around.

Boy, when I saw that, I thought the foundation of the tabernacle, the foundation of God's presence is the Atonement. It's the Atonement. There it is. I'd never seen it like that before. But the very foundation of God dwelling among His people is SET ON THE ATONEMENT OF CHRIST. The word means AT-ONE-MENT. God's appeased.

Those in the posts that went around, they sat on brass. I'm going to get to that brass here. I'm getting ahead of myself. They sat on brass. They didn't just sit on the ground. They sat on a block of brass. designed and set there, and had a case of wood, a sheet of wood is what it's called. It's set down on that.

But let me get back to this, I'm getting way ahead of myself. Because I watched that, I watched that animation, and I can sit here and in my mind I can go right through it, piece by piece. I watched it five times. I don't usually get things the first time. They say the best way to train a dog is sets of three or sets of seven. And so this dog either gets it in three or seven. So I watched it five times. And boy, I can just see it coming together. It was great to watch. But anyway, this speaks of Christ's Atonement.

Peter says this in 1 Peter 1, 18 and 19, For as much as you know, you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold. They were TYPES! You weren't redeemed with the TYPE! Christ said, Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and they're what? They're DEAD! There's no life in the TYPE! The life is in Christ! And so he says, you're not redeemed with silver and gold from your vain conversation received by the tradition of your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

But here the pattern is atonement. It speaks of atonement. And then thirdly, brass. You know how you get brass? You take tin and copper and you melt it together. You have two alloys. That's the dual nature of the Lord Jesus Christ. God and man in one person. That's how you get brass. You take tin and copper and you melt it together. And you know what it does? It becomes one. And it's called brass. It's called brass.

That's the dual nature of Christ. And they use this to keep the acacia wood also Because they put the brass, they put it all over the altar. It was covered with that, and the staves were covered with the brass. It's also a symbol of judgment. It kept the acacia wood, now this is interesting. When you take bronze, and you take it and you put it like that altar, it was covered with that.

There's some things it did. First of all, it took the heat and made it more equal. You know, it makes the heat more equal instead of getting a hot spot. But here's what it did. It kept the fire on the altar from burning up the cashew wood. The deity of Christ is what kept him from burning up. If he were just a man, he would have never made it. He's the God-man. He's the God-man. Remember that serpent on a pole, what it's made out of? Brass. Brass hanging on a pole, a symbol of the cross. This is a symbol of judgment.

It says there in Isaiah 53-5, But he was wounded for our transgression, he is bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement of our peace is upon him. And with his stripes we are healed. You know, when John saw him in Revelation 1-15, you know what his feet were? He said, they looked like fine brass. And in another one it said, well, let's go over and read it. I didn't read it five times. So we're going to have to look at it. In Revelation chapter 1, let me see what verse. Let me go to verse 14.

His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire, and his feet likened to fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace. And they did there on Calvary Street. And His voice has the sound of many waters. That's the brass. It's used to absorb the heat, the wrath of God.

And then we come down to verse 4. We have in blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goat's hair. When you look up into the heavens, what do you see? What color is the sky? Blue. John 3.13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven. He came from above. This blue tells us where He's from. He's from above. He said, I'm from above, you're from beneath. I'm from above. PURPLE! That shows His ROYALTY! This is the KING!

What did they mock Him as? What did Herod and them mock Him as in the Judgment Hall? They mocked Him as KING! They took a PURPLE ROBE and put it on Him. In Revelation 19, 16, And he hath on his vesture, and on his thigh, a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, there's nothing that probably gives me more comfort than to know that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is reigning and ruling over this earth right now.

Not the Democrats and not the Republicans. Not China and not Russia. God Almighty is doing it. So now go home and rest. Go home and rest. And then thirdly, Scarlet. Scarlet. What does this represent? Well, most of you are already ahead of me. Blood. Blood and sacrifice. Blood and sacrifice.

Matthew 27, 28. And they stripped him and they put on him a scarlet robe. They mocked him as a king and put that purple robe on him. And then they stripped him and put on him a scarlet robe. Scarlet. That was what was used over the tabernacle. They don't have a clue, they're just fulfilling the type. Isn't that amazing? Satan's been around 6,000 or so years and he still doesn't get it. He's still doing the will of God. He's still doing it. Someone said Satan is nothing more than a pit bull on a chain. Whenever he did what he did to Job, God allowed him to do it. He did the will of God, didn't he? Because at the end of Job, what does Job say?

By the hearing of the ear I have heard of thee, but now mine eye seeth thee. I have experienced God. It's one thing about hearing about Him, it's another thing to experience Him. And all three of these meet perfectly in the Lord Jesus Christ. He's from heaven, He's the King, and He shed His blood to redeem us from our sins. And now we come to verse 4, the fine linen. What's that fine linen? It's His righteousness. It's the righteousness of Christ and you know in Revelation it said the fine linen is also the righteousness of the saints because His righteousness is our righteousness.

I don't have any righteousness, you don't have any righteousness. There's a lot of people think they do but they don't. How sad would it be to be walking down the street completely naked thinking you were fully dressed. There's a whole lot of people going to stand before God thinking they are dressed, fully dressed, and they are going to find out they are naked. And everything is open before God. This represents the pure white righteousness of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5.21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, no sin of birth, no sin of thought, no sin of action. He knew no sin. And here's the reason that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

And now we come to GOATS HAIR. And we'll see as we go on for these next chapters how all these make up the tabernacle and how they go on to the tabernacle. Which one goes on, then which one goes over the other. I mean this is... Exodus right here in 25 takes a complete shift from what we've been looking at. Now it's really, really getting focused on the Lord Jesus Christ. But GOAT'S HAIR! What is that? What's this covering of goat's hair? You remember that scapegoat that was taken out there in the wilderness? One was killed, one was put to death, sacrificed, and the other one was taken out to the wilderness and let go.

Christ crucified and He has taken our sins away and they are no more. They are no more. Before God, my sins don't exist. I know them. I know what a sinner I was going to say I know what a sinner I am, really I don't. Ain't nobody here knows how sinful they are. However sinful you think you are, you're worse. It don't matter how bad you think you are, it's always worse. We just can't go that deep. Our Lord did, but we can't.

Goat's hair. Now someone said this, that this goat's hair was made from the underbelly of a goat. That's where you get cashmere. soft real soft oh the our lord is meek and lowly isn't he meek and lowly i don't know about that but i know this it does represent him as a scapegoat it does ram skins dyed red these are all specific THIS IS THE SACRIFICIAL DEATH OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. THIS IS CHRIST OUR SUBSTITUTE. RAM'S SKIN DYED RED. Christ's blood covering our sin. Romans 5,

9. Much more than being now justified by His blood. We shall be saved from wrath through Him. And then we have BADGER SKIN. Badger skin, what's that? His humanity. You could look at that tent and there was no beauty about it that would draw your attention to it. As Isaiah said, there's no beauty about him that we would desire him. If a Philistine or somebody was standing up on the hill and they were looking down and they saw that tent, it would not impress them. Jesus Christ did not impress anybody by His appearance, but He sure impresses everybody who can see past the humanity and see God, the Shekinah glory of God dwelling in that man. He's God in the flesh.

And then we come to Shittim wood. That word also means Acacia wood. That's the Acacia tree. that grew, and here's what's interesting, this tree grew in that desert, there weren't hardly any other trees, but this one thrived, it didn't take much water to live, and it was very dense wood, very hard wood, and it was resistant to insects and rot. Here's the reason God used this, here's the reason why, incorruptible wood basically, And it's very durable, very durable.

This is Christ's humanity and without sin. And then we come to Oil for the Light, Christ the Light of the World. There's only one light in that tabernacle, wasn't there? There was no natural, what we call natural light in that tabernacle. The light in that tabernacle was given of God. Christ is that light. He's the light. He said, I'm the light of the world. I'm the light of the world. And here's something interesting. I'm going to wind this down. I'm glad I didn't go to verse 22. We'd have to take a break.

But we have here This oil for the light, you know what this is? This is olive oil. And in my studies, I realized I got this. The olive oil is pressed. It goes into a press, it's like a big the lever big log like and they take and they pull it down and they press it where the first pressing is what's used for the oil for the light because it's the purest and they'll press it two more times after that but that first pressing is what they used for the light oh this is Christ crucified it's only in Christ crucified that you and I have light When we see God in the face of Jesus Christ, we get the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. That olive oil was from the first pressing, and it was pressed, I mean, and it just ran down, and they took that first pressing and put it in the lamps, and that was burning all the time. We're going to go through this, it's going to get even more condensed and defined.

Then there was the SPICES for anointing oil. This is Christ, God's anointing. The anointing oil is for Christ. Remember, was it Mary that anointed Him? And Judah said, Why are you wasting that oil for? No, no, no. He's anointed of God. Jesus Christ is anointed of God to be our Savior, our Redeemer, our King. He's anointed of God.

And there's supposed to be sweet incense. The place didn't stink. I'll tell you what where Christ is preached, it doesn't stink. The sweet smell of grace, the sweet smell of God's sweat, the sweet smell of God's love. But this what this is, this sweet incense is the SWEET SMELL of the intercession of Christ.

Without Him, our prayers would STINK! I mean, that'd be some of the worst odor you could smell. But our Lord makes them SWEET. That's why God accepts them, because He intercedes for us and He takes our prayers before God. and just sweet incense. That's what God smells, sweet savor.

And then we have, and I've got to close here, we have the onyx stones and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate. There were two onyx stones, I probably shouldn't get into this, but there were two onyx stones worn by the high priest on the ephod. And they had six names written in those stones. And those stones, they had two of them. One on his shoulder, one on her right shoulder. I said, this is too good to pass up. And here's what he did. He wore them on his shoulders.

You see, he has his breastplate here. It says, stones set in the breastplate also. There's 12 stones in the breastplate. And there's 12 different stones, and they were set in gold, and they were on the breastplate. He has six names, each six names of the tribe of Israel on one side, six name on the other side on his shoulders. But then he has all of them on his breastplate near his heart, near the heart of God. But now here, listen here.

HE BEARS US UP ON HIS SHOULDERS LIKE THAT LAMB, REMEMBER HE GOT THAT LAMB THAT WAS LOST AND CARRIED IT ON HIS SHOULDERS? HE BEARS US ON HIS SHOULDERS AND CARRIES US IN HIS HEART BEFORE GOD ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME. WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE GETTING UP AND COMING HERE, WHEN YOU'RE SICK, WHEN YOU'RE SICK, HE'S STILL BEARING US UP AND REPRESENTING US. AND WE'RE ON HIS HEART ALL THE TIME.

THAT'S GOING TO COME LATER. THAT'S LATER. AND THE HIGH PRIEST, HE WORE THIS AS A REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE GOD OF ISRAEL. HE'S OUR REPRESENTATIVE. AND HE SAID HERE IN VERSE 8 AND VERSE 9, AND LET THEM MAKE ME A SANCTUARY THAT I MAY DWELL AMONG THEM. WORSHIP IS NOW GOING TO BE CENTRALIZED. IT'S NOW GOING TO BE CENTRALIZED. We worship God in Christ. And here's something interesting.

God set this tabernacle up. We got this fence around it. It's white linen. You got all the shittum wood around there holding up the white linen. You got the Levites, and here's how this goes. The Levites encamped all around it. They're pretty much encamped all the way around it.

But after that, now listen, There's three tribes on each side, on each side. On the east, and there's one, out of those three tribes, there's one, there's always one tribe that's the leader, the principal tribe. So on the east side, you've got Judah, Issachar, Judah's the leader, he's the leading tribe. Judah, Issachar, Zebulun. And this is considered the most prominent position there. On the south side you had Reuben, Simeon, and Gad. On the west side you had Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin. On the north side you had Dan, Asher, and Naphtali.

What does that mean? Why did God do that? Why did He position them? Guess who's in the center? Christ. The Tabernacle. The Presence of God. All His people are surrounded by Him, and He's in the center. Get that picture in your mind. We're just around Him this morning. His whole church is around Him this morning. He's the center of our worship. He's the reason we are here. He's the reason we exist. All things are made by Him and for Him.

Outside of that, you can't explain yourselves. You can't do it. And then listen, He says here, According to all that I show thee after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall you make it. Men did not formulate this matter of worship. Israel did not formulate this matter of worship. God alone defines how He is to be approached, He is to be approached, and how He is to be worshipped. And I thank God He has given us that Gospel. THAT DEFINES HOW HE'S WORSHIPED.
