The sermon titled "Covenant of God's Will" by Fred Evans addresses the theological distinction between the Covenant of Law and the Covenant of Promise, primarily based on Galatians 3:15-18. The preacher emphasizes that justification before God cannot be obtained through the works of the Law but only through faith in Christ, who was made a curse to redeem the believers from the law's curse. Specifically, he highlights that the blessing promised to Abraham and his seed is fulfilled in Christ and that no human effort can alter God's covenant of grace. Evans underscores the practical significance of this distinction, illustrating that those who believe in Christ are secure in their salvation and liberated from the demands of the Law, which serves only to expose sin rather than provide redemption.

tell you somebody tells you that
you've been faithful Christ is faithful Christ is
faithful any man is faithful to preach the gospel and continue
to preach the gospel it is because of the power of God and the faithfulness
of Christ nothing in a man nothing in a man I'm so thankful that
God has given me the opportunity to preach Christ to you. I enjoy
this every time I come. It is a privilege, and I take
it as such, and it's a duty and responsibility, but it's a joy. It's a joy to preach. To preach
to people who love Christ, it's a joy. It's a joy. You'll take
your Bibles and turn them into Galatians. Galatians chapter
three. I preach from this passage in
chapter 3 last time to you concerning this state of every believer,
cursed, redeemed, and blessed. That was my last message to you.
I've been preaching through Galatians in our congregation. The Lord has seemed to bless,
and it's been a blessing to me to go back through it, and it
seems like the Lord is allowing me to see that others are blessed
by it. I've received calls and things
like that that are quite unusual. And I pray it'll be a blessing
again to you. But last time we looked at verses 10 through verse
14, verse 9 through 14, it says, so then they which be of faith
are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works
of the law are under the curse of the law. This is where we
start, we're under the curse. For it is written, curse is everyone
that continueeth not in all things written in the book of the law
to do them. but that no man is justified by the law and the
sight of God. Paul said, well, that's evident.
That's just clear. For the just shall live by faith
and the law is not of faith. But here's our hope, we are also
who were cursed. God has purposed that we should
be blessed in this, Christ redeemed us. For Christ hath redeemed
us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us. For it is written, curses everyone
that hangeth on a tree. That, this is the reason why
he did that. order that The blessing of Abraham
might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ That we might receive
the promise of the Spirit through faith So the Apostle declared
the blessing of Abraham then is not obtained by the works
of the law But through the redemption that is in Christ, we who are
cursed by the law should be justified by the substitutionary death
of our Lord Jesus Christ. So he was made a curse. And as a curse, he suffered the
full measure, the full measure of God's wrath for our sins. He was made a curse. under the
law. And this is, the experience of
our redemption is this, that at the appointed time, God, like
Abraham, blessed us through faith, through faith in Jesus Christ. Now, let us consider tonight
the greatness of God's salvation. And I want us to focus on this
tonight. This is my point, and I hope
you get this. The apostle is going to show
forth the distinct nature of two covenants. Two covenants. The covenant of the law and the
covenant of promise. The covenant of promise. You
see, we were cursed by birth, by nature, unable and unwilling
to obey that first covenant, the law. We couldn't do it. We could not merit the righteousness
by the law. Paul said, that's just clear.
Isn't that clear? It's just clear. Yet God had
purposed that we should be saved from the curse so that Jesus,
in love, offered himself, listen, according to another covenant. Another covenant. Christ came
to redeem those named in that second covenant. everyone that
Christ died for this according to this covenant God will empower
come and give them life and faith according to the promise of the
covenant So then all who have fled to
Christ you tonight if you have fled to Christ, I want you to
know this I want you to grab a hold of this you are saved
according to the covenant of grace and Not according to the covenant
of the law So now we who are blessed, who
believe on Christ, Paul said we are blessed with faithful
Abraham. We are blessed with the same
blessings as he was. And so tonight we're going to
look at this verses 15 down through verse 18. The apostle says, brethren, I
speak after the manner of men, though it be but a man's covenant,
yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth or addeth thereunto. Now to Abraham and to his seed
where the promise is made, saith not seeds as of many, but as
of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ. Paul is again, like
I said, he's going to show the distinct nature of these two
covenants. Under one covenant called the
covenant of promise, it is here likened unto a last will and
testament. Paul is going to liken this covenant
of promise, the one that was given to Abraham, he's going
to liken it unto a covenant of a man's last will and testament. The other covenant that we've
already been over, but I want to see it again, is the covenant
of the law. And this is what we would call a contractual covenant. A contractual covenant. And that
I want you to see this most of all, that the contractual, that
these covenants being distinct have nothing to do with each
other. They're never meant to be mixed. You are either under
one covenant or another. You cannot mix them. In other
words, the law being one of these covenants has no part. I want you to get this. The law
being a covenant of works has no part whatsoever the accomplishment
or the obtaining of our salvation has no part. It has no part in
our justification. It has no part in our sanctification. It has no part in our redemption.
It has no part in our wisdom or understanding. While the other covenant, the
other covenant is one of grace, has obtained, accomplished, and
administered all our salvation. And so the blessing of the covenant
of the law, the blessing of the covenant of the law is one of
works and the blessing of the covenant of promise is one of
free grace. One of free grace. Now, In this
text, the apostle makes here a distinction of these two covenants.
He sets forth the illustration of an earthly covenant. Read
that again with me in verse 15. Brethren, I speak after the manner
of men, though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed,
no man disannull it or addeth thereunto. These two covenants,
are very distinct and different from one another. This one, a
last will and testament. We all know what that is. A man
makes a last will and testament. A man, he accumulates goods all
of his life. He works for them, he builds
up his inheritance, and then he writes out a covenant and
gives it to whomsoever he will. He seals that covenant so that
you cannot add to it or take away from. It would be unjust
to do that. I know we've got unjust laws. If a man does that, surely in
our judicial system, people overturn this stuff all the time. But
it's not right. It's not just. In Paul's day, this was impossible.
Once a man sealed that, it was done. You couldn't add to it
or take from it. And so then, There's really only
one active party in this. The testator. He is the only
active party in a last will and testament. And all the beneficiaries
of a last will and testament are passive. They didn't do anything
to earn it. They didn't do anything to merit
it. They didn't build it up. They didn't store it up. They
didn't do anything. They just simply received it.
On the other hand, you have the covenant of works. You have another,
what we call a contract, where both parties are responsible
for something. You sign a contract, both parties
are responsible, they're obligated. And in a contract, in order to
receive what is agreed upon, there must be strict adherence
to the terms. You set the terms. And then if
the terms are met, you receive the benefit. If they are not
met, you receive, the benefits are forfeited. The benefits are
forfeited. So the law then is the contract,
isn't it? The law is a contract, a covenant. When receiving the blessing,
namely, this is the blessing, justification before God. That's the blessing. Justification before God then
is contingent upon a man's absolute perfect obedience. Read it again
in verse 10. For as many as are of the works
of the law are under what? The blessing? No, the curse. For it is written, curses everyone
that continueth not in all things written in the book of the law,
not just to admire them, not just to acknowledge them. This is what religion does. Religion
acknowledges the law. They say it's good. They try
to keep it, but it's not just acknowledging it, is it? But
do them. Not just once but a perpetual
continual obedience is necessary for blessing Therefore it has been established
It has been established verse 11 that no man is justified by
the law in the sight of God. That's just plain That's just
clear The scripture hath concluded
this, all under sin. Therefore, the contract is broken. There is no hold of ever obtaining
justification before God by your obedience. Let me ask this question, who
in the world then would desire to be under the law? Do you desire in any measure
to be under the law? any part of the law. And I want
you to read that again when it says, continueth not in, what's
the next two words? All things, all things. What
does that mean? What does it mean? It means all
things. Everything written in the book
of the law you want to keep ten commandments go find you a high
priest Go find you go build the temple back over where they got
a mosque knock it down build it up You have to you have to
do all of that That's you don't get to pick and choose which
part of this law you want to obey. Well, I like Sabbath worship
I think I can do that You can't but okay Well, then you got to do everything
else too That's what he was telling these people in Galatia. They
were picking one thing, circumcision. That's what they were picking.
Now we wouldn't, in our generation, wouldn't think that would be,
but in their time, the Jews were really trying, they were having
a very difficult time letting go of that law. Peter had a difficult
time letting go of that law. Paul had a difficult time letting
go of that law. So yes, it was necessary for
us, for Paul here, to sever all ties from this covenant. For to remain under the law,
you are obligated to fulfill all of the law all of the time. If you were to observe the Sabbath
or the worship or attend commandments or tithing, you're under the
whole law. And so Paul concludes that this,
it's impossible in any degree, in any degree to obtain the blessing.
Impossible, can't be done. Why if you started right now,
so you if possible right now for you to start from right now
and go on being perfect? The problem is you've already
failed before that you've already nullified the covenant you receive
what what's the promise of God a curse? Now God's gonna keep
his in the bargain God's gonna keep his in the bargain Therefore,
it can never be married, but behold, behold the glory and
goodness of God in this covenant by which sinners are justified,
by which sinners may receive the promise of the Spirit through
faith, and that is by the last will and testament of God. It must come by grace and power
to the sinner. Now the will of God assures us
that all he has named in this covenant of grace will receive
the blessing. This is the beauty of this covenant.
Everyone named in it will receive a blessing. There's no curse
in this covenant. There's no cursing. This covenant doesn't
deal with the curse. Matter of fact, it does away
with the curse. We'll see how in a minute, but with that, listen,
Everyone named in this covenant is going to receive all the blessings,
the blessings that Abraham received. Listen, listen to this, without
obedience. Without obedience. And catch
this, that your disobedience doesn't disannul you from receiving
the blessing. Neither your obedience nor your
disobedience have anything to do with you receiving the blessing. Nothing. And so this covenant, it is a
covenant then that is solely based upon the grace and love
of God toward his elect people. Now remember this, I told you
that in the last will and testament, the full weight and responsibility
falls on the test day. Now listen, if I wrote out a
last will and testament and I said, okay, I'm going to leave my wife
one million dollars. That would be silly. There'd
be no way she's going to get that because I don't have it. But if I'm to have a legitimate
last will and testament then I'm going to have to earn whatever
it is I'm going to give her. It's my responsibility. It's
my responsibility to store up What I'm going to give. And it's
my responsibility to name who gets it. Even so in this covenant,
Jesus Christ is a testator. In other words, listen to me.
The full weight of your salvation is totally dependent upon him. Hang on to that a minute. Mull
it over. The full weight of our salvation
was totally dependent upon Jesus Christ. Listen to this in Isaiah
six nine and verse six unto us. Unto us a child is born. Unto
us a son is given. Now we know who this is because
that's only one. The child born speaks of his
humanity. The son given speaks of his deity. Only one person like that, Jesus
Christ. And the government shall be upon
his shoulders. His government. When a king When
a king rules a government, the total protection and safety and
care are on his shoulders. And that's exactly what it means.
That text means that the full responsibility of his kingdom
is on his shoulders. And what do we call him? His
name shall we call wonderful. Isn't it wonderful that the full
weight of your salvation is dependent on him? that you have no responsibility
as for your justification, sanctification, redemption, or righteousness,
none of it. You have no responsibility of that. In this covenant, he
bears all the responsibility, all of it. This is what they
called in the Old Testament a surety, a surety. Over in Genesis chapter
43, you remember how that there was a famine and how, look, Joseph,
what a picture of Christ he is. He has stored up all that grain. You know what he stored up for?
Give to Jacob. That's what he did. Stored up,
what a picture of Christ. He stored up our salvation. He
accomplished all of it in order to give it to Jacob. But you
remember that Jacob was reluctant to send Benjamin. And in this
picture, Judah was a picture of Christ. And Judah said this
to his father, he said, send the lad with me and we will arise
and go that we may live and not die, both we and thou and our
little ones. I will be surety for him. Of
my hand shalt thou require him, if I bring him not unto thee,
and set him before thee. Let me bear the blame forever. What a picture of our Lord Jesus
Christ when the Father gave his people to his Son. And he said
this, Father, I will be sure for them. You've made a covenant.
You've made a last will and testament that every one of your sons should
be saved. Father, give them to me and I
will bear the full weight and responsibility of all their salvation. And if I don't bring them to
you, don't blame them. Blame me. This is exactly what Paul mentions
in chapter seven of Hebrews. Chapter seven of Hebrews and
verse 18, he's talking about a high priest. Isn't that exactly
what a high priest is, a surety? One that goes before God for
the people. One who bears the responsibility
for the offering and bringing it before God for us, for the
people. Yeah, that's exactly what a high
priest is, he's a surety. He said in verse 18, for verily,
for there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before
for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing
perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did. By the
which we draw nigh unto God insomuch as not without an oath he was
made a priest. For those priests were made without
an oath, but this with an oath by him that said unto him, the
Lord swear and will not repent, thou art a priest forever after
the order of Melchizedek. By so much was Jesus made a what? Surety. When God made him our
high priest, God made him our surety. Of what? A better covenant. That law made nothing perfect.
And to this day, that law makes nothing perfect. Who wants to
be under that law in any part? This is the covenant that every
elect person, every believer is under, a better covenant.
And they truly were many priests because they were not suffered
to continue by reason of death. But this man, because he continueth
ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood, wherefore he is able also to
save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he
ever liveth to make intercession for us. And we may see Jesus,
our eternal high priest in surety. That what the law could not do,
he did. Law made nothing perfect. But you mark this down, you believer,
listen to me. He, Paul later on testifies in
chapter 10, he, by his offering, hath perfected what the law could
not do. In this covenant, bearing the
full weight and responsibility, Jesus perfected forever them
that are sanctified. He perfected forever them that
are sanctified. You see, this will and testament
is a better covenant. It is a covenant of love, it
is a covenant of grace, and it is not a covenant of works. So back in your text, back in
your text here, Paul in verse 15 testifies of
the sureness and the bindingness of this covenant. He says, when
the last will and testament of a man is made, nothing can be
added to or taken away. Nothing can disannul it. Even among human covenants, when
a man makes his will, it is binding. So that when it's confirmed and
sealed, no man can add or take away from it or alter it or change
it in any degree because that would nullify it. How much then
more binding is the covenant that God made? If a man's covenant
is binding, how much more is God's covenant binding? What
does God say about himself? He says, I am the Lord, I change
not. I change not. And so then all
that God has willed to do from eternity, He will perform. This is a sure thing. It is a
sure thing. That all that God has decreed,
He will perform. He said, remember things of old
for I am God and there is none else. There's none like me declaring
the end, when? When did God declare the end?
From the beginning, from ancient times of things that were not
yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand and I will do all
my pleasure. He gives that illustration of
Cyrus. Remember that man doesn't even know who he is. He said,
I called Cyrus by name before he's born. And he's gonna deliver my people
and do my bidding. And he's not even gonna know
what he's doing. Then God declares the fulfillment
of this in Christ. He says, I bring my righteousness
near and it shall not be far off. My salvation shall not tarry.
I will place salvation in Zion. Listen, for Israel. My righteousness
is coming. My salvation will not tarry.
It is coming. And he is coming to Zion for
a very specific people, Israel. Not that nation, Israel. They
rejected him. This is spiritual Israel. This
is talking to you and to me who believe. We are Israel. We are
Israel. We are the true sons of Abraham. And so God's will in Testament
is from eternity. So then nothing in time can affect
it. Nothing in time can disannul
it. In fact, everything in time was
working toward it. And even now in time, all providence
is moving for the complete fulfillment of it. Nothing disannuls this covenant. seeing that this covenant is
grace and established long before the law. Nothing can be added
to this covenant. The law is not an addition or
a supplement to the covenant of grace. This is, mark this
down friends, this is happening. I know that we are, seem like
we're in a little bubble. We don't see what's going on
outside in religion. Good, you really don't need to.
It's just, it's happening all around you. Religion takes the law of God
and somehow desires to superimpose that upon the covenant of grace.
They say, yeah, salvation is by grace, but you've got to obey
the law too. They try to superimpose it. Paul's
saying, look, you can't do that to this kind of covenant. You
can't take a man's last will and testament and impose another
law on it. It defiles it. It's an either
or principle here. So nothing can be added to this
covenant. It is not to be transposed upon the salvation of God that
is in Jesus Christ. It cannot be added to or it cannot
help us. It's never intended to be our
rule of life. Don't fall for that. Now, I'm saying this to
you because I want you to understand that you're not exempt from this
kind of deception. We've been in the gospel, I've
been in the gospel most of my life. But I want you to know
we're not exempt from this kind. The law is seductive. To your
flesh, your husband told me this when I first started preaching.
He said, Fred, be very careful. The law will feel good in your
hands. And it will feel good to the back of your feet. Don't
use it. It's not what it's for. Peter in the chapter two, we've
already read this, if you read it later, Peter did the same
thing, didn't he? He was seduced by it. He was eating with those
Gentiles, and those Jews came in, and he thought to not want
to offend them. He had some good motives. He
didn't want to offend these brothers. And so what'd he do? He said,
well, man, they're going to be offended if I eat this pork sandwich,
and he pushed it away. And Paul said, whoa, whoa, wait
a minute, wait a minute. You walk unevenly, friend. Your
gospel says it's salvation by grace. Why are you going back
under the law? Because it was seductive to his
flesh. And mark this down. Paul did it too. The one who rebuked Peter, the
one who's preaching to Galatia, he was seduced so much to shave
his head. and almost offer a sacrifice,
an animal sacrifice. So don't think we can't be seduced
by this. Why? Because work religion feels
good to the flesh. Believer, who among us does not
want to know that we know that we know we're in Christ? I mean,
a lot of times I don't feel like I'm in Christ. A lot of times I feel the opposite.
But see again, what does my feelings have to do with this covenant? Sometimes I feel safe, sometimes
I don't. What does that have to do with
it? Nothing. But yet sometimes I want a measurement. Am I growing
in grace? And so what do we have to do?
We have to look at something we've done in order to see if
we're growing. Our kids, you know when you put
that measurement on the wall, you put that little pencil mark
up there? They come back five minutes later and try to look
and see if they're growing any. Well, that's us too. We have
the same thing spiritually. We want to know if we're growing.
So what do we do? We take the tape measure of our
works. We take the tape measure of the
law and see if we're, no, don't do that. Don't do that. Our salvation does not have anything
to do with the works of the law. So God's will in Testament was
from eternity and nothing can affect it or disannul it. Seeing
that the covenant is by grace, grace of God was established
before the law, nothing is to be transposed upon it. Remember
these two covenants are distinct. So Paul said the law was added.
Now look at that in verse 19. He said, for when? He said, wherefore
then serve the law? It was added because what? What
was the law added for? What was the purpose of the law?
Transgression. Paul said this, that sin might
appear exceeding sinful. That's all law can do is magnify
my sin. That's all it can do. It can only magnify my sin. It
doesn't magnify my righteousness. It magnifies my transgression. So the law was added only for
this purpose to expose the transgression. That sin should be exceeding
sinful. You can read that later in Hebrews
chapter, in Romans chapter seven. Paul talks about his conversion
there. And he's telling them, this is how it was. I thought
it was a lie without the law once. Everything was fine. Me
and the law, we were good. We were good. Until when? Until
sin came. When the law came, sin revived
and what? I died. I found out I was dead. And so was the law evil? No,
the law's good. It was me. I'm the problem with
the law. But in this covenant of grace
that you are under, believer, listen, it doesn't have to deal
with transgression. In fact, it shows forth this,
that our transgressions are totally removed from us. That's what
the new covenant testifies of. That Christ, when he came into
the world, bore our sin in his own body on the tree. And when
God's holy justice fell on him, what happened to your sin? What
happened to the guilt of our sin? It's forever gone, paid for in
full. That's why Jesus said those words,
it is finished. He made an end of sin. transgression
and iniquity. He made an end of it. And so this will and testament
of God has to do with righteousness, not by merit, but by grace. Romans 3, 23, 21 says, but now
the righteousness of God, listen to these words, without the law. I need the righteousness of God
and I need it without the law. I can't have it by the law, I
need it without the law. Listen, is manifest. Here, I'm gonna show it to you.
That's what Paul said. I'm gonna show it to you. Righteousness
with God. Where, Paul? Well, it's manifest. Just listen,
it's manifest. It was witnessed by the law and
the prophets. The law and the prophets testified
of this one to come. Even the righteousness of God,
which is by the faith of Jesus Christ. Now, who earned the righteousness
of God? Who merited the righteousness
of God? It is the righteousness of God by the faith of Jesus
Christ. I can't overemphasize that word
of. Very important. It's not faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ didn't earn righteousness right up until the point of faith
and say, okay, that's your part. No. It's the righteousness of
Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that, what? Believe.
See, faith is just a manifestation that I've been made the righteousness
of God in Him. And so see then the salvation of all the elect
is according to the covenant of grace that was in effect from
eternity. The fulfillment of the qualifications
of our justification was ratified by the death of Jesus Christ.
What makes a last will and testament in force? Now you can write one,
right? Give it to your lawyer, get it
signed, put it up. But you know what? You got a
bad apple in the bunch. So you go and say, man, I'm not
going to give him a thing. I'm going to go back and change
it. So you change it as long as what? As long as you're alive. What seals it? Death. Death is the only thing that
seals the last will and testament. So Paul says in Hebrews 9 verse
15, he said, for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant
that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgression
that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive
the promise of eternal inheritance. For where the testament is, there
also must of necessity be the death of the testator Well, the
Testament is a force after men are dead. Otherwise, there's
no strength as long as he liveth. Now listen, that will in Testament
of God says this, I will give you all the blessings of heaven. To every one of my elect, I give
you all of the blessings of heaven. When was that ratified? It was
ratified when Jesus Christ died. It was purposed of God from eternity,
but when he died, it's in full force. It's in full force. Jesus, our mediator of the new
covenant, must of necessity died. Isn't that right? He must. Our
sin deserved death. Our sin deserved death. The law
of God must be satisfied. It's God's law, it must be satisfied.
And the only one who could do that was a testator, Jesus Christ. And Jesus told him many times,
he said, the son of man must suffer, must. He said, nevertheless,
I tell you the truth, it is expedient that I go away. For if I go not
away, I cannot send the comforter to you. It's expedient that I
go that the comforter will come. And so by his death, the covenant
was in full force Therefore he has now sent out
his spirit into the world To give the benefits of this
covenant to his people Right now the Spirit of God is moving
to give all the benefits God purposed all the benefits Christ
died for He is going to give them to everyone named in this
covenant. God says fear not I am with thee. I will bring my seed from the
east and gather them from the west. I will say the north give
up and the south keep not back. Bring my sons from far. Therefore all who would seek
to impose or add the covenant of works, they failed to grasp
the truth that the law has nothing to do with the promise. It has
nothing to do with our justification, nothing to do with our sanctification,
nothing to do with our righteousness or redemption. It does not impart
wisdom as to how to live. It just convicts me that I've not
done it. And so then, as Abraham heard
and received the promise according to the will of God, this is how
we do. This is how we receive it, even
as Abraham. He said, Now to Abraham and to
his seed were the promises made. He saith not seeds as of many,
but as of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say,
that the covenant that was confirmed before of God, the law which
is four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that
it should make the promise of none effect. Now like this, do
you realize it was six hundred years after Abraham that the
law was received Wasn't 430 years? Why would Paul use that? He's
not making a mathematical error here. Why would he use that?
He's telling you this, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all of those patriarchs, they
all received the blessings of the covenant before the law. And so the law which was after
the last of the patriarchs did not add to or disannul from the
covenant they received. So the promise that was made
to Abraham and to his seed, which is Christ, how then is this mine? Because I'm in Christ. 1st Corinthians chapter 1 Paul
chapter 1 in verse 30 the Apostle says but of God are you in Christ?
Well, who put you in Christ? Well when you do that, he did
that in eternity in a covenant He puts you in Christ and all
the promises are to Christ and listen to all who are in Christ
God puts you in Christ who of God is made unto us and wisdom,
righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. So then all the elect are included
in this. You know what this means? It
means when he lived, I lived. When he was righteous, I was
righteous. When he died, I died. And when he rose again and sat
on the throne of God, I rose again and sat on the throne of
God in him. I am in union with him. That's what this covenant
is. God puts you in union with Christ
and nobody can add to it or take away or disannul it. Nothing that happens in time
will ever disannul this covenant. Nothing you do, nothing you say,
nothing that happens to you, Why? This covenant was made by
God in eternity. It was secured by Christ in time. It was given to you by the Spirit
of God. And right now, you that believe,
you are being kept according to this covenant. And it's all
one-sided. It's all God doing it. And you are simply the passive
recipient of it. Therefore I want you to know
this that none of those named in this covenant will miss it I Say this to our congregation
over I said here I may have do you know that the church is always
full You know, there's not one missing
ever There are some out there that
have not yet come in and But at the appointed time, they
will. And you know what? None of them
will go out. John said they went out from
us because they were not of us. If they were of us, they would no
doubt continue with us. Why? Because everyone named in this
covenant, Jesus Christ said, all the Father giveth me, what?
Shall come to me. And him that cometh to me I will
in no wise cast out. No wise cast out. I will never
cast them out. Why? Because the total dependence
of their salvation was on him and not on them. So what does the law have to do
with it? Nothing. The law has a purpose
just to testify of my sin, testify of my curse. That's what it does.
But I'm not under the law. I'm not under that testament,
I am under a better covenant, the last will and testament of
God. Do you believe on Christ? Man,
if you don't, it is my desire that you flee, that you would run and find everything
that he promises in him. Love, joy, peace, meekness, all
of these things, peace with God, everlasting life, forgiveness
of sin, all of them are found in Him. Run to Him, find, hold
Him by faith. My faith is the evidence that
I'm named in this covenant. Do you believe? And you're in this covenant.
and nothing can add to it or take away from it. I'm so thankful. I'm totally dependent on him,
aren't you? The more I grow in grace, I'm more dependent on
him, not less. I'm more dependent on him. And I'm so thankful it's that
way. We couldn't do it ourselves, could we? What if he gave you one thing
to do? Please don't. My hope is Christ did it all.
And I know this, he did it all. Pray God bless this team.
