Part 3 in the 4 part series on "Spiritual History of Jehovah's Saints" (Psalm 66:16)

The sermon by Daniel Parks focuses on the redemptive work of God the Son, particularly His actions during His incarnation and crucifixion, as outlined in Psalm 66:16. Parks emphasizes that salvation is wholly the work of God, highlighting the roles of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in a believer's redemption. He specifically cites Galatians 4:4 regarding the timing of Christ's coming, and passages from Isaiah and Revelation to support his claims about sin, redemption, justification, and reconciliation. The practical significance of this message lies in its assurance of salvation and the deep connection it establishes between believers and their Savior, underscoring the complete and final nature of Christ's redemptive work which cannot be contributed to by human effort.

I invite your attention to Psalm
number 66. Psalm number 66, my text is found
in verse number 16. My message is part of a series
on the subject of a spiritual history of Jehovah's Saints.
It is actually our spiritual autobiography. If we should write what the Lord
has done for us in our salvation, we would all be writing the same
thing. Because what he has done for one, he has done for all.
And it's glorious what he has done. The psalmist says in Psalm 66,
verse 16, Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will
declare what he hath done for my soul. I'm not going to tell you what
I have done for my soul because everything I did for my soul
condemned me. And I do not want to know what
you have done for your soul because you're as big a sinner as I am.
But oh, if we could think back and recollect and search the
Scriptures and find what He has done. And that has been glorious. We commenced this series last
Lord's Day, two messages last Lord's Day. And today is the
third message in this four-part series. And then I promise you
I'm coming back before long. And when I do, we'll do the fourth
part in this series. But last Lord's Day, we considered
what God the Father has done for my soul. My salvation is of God the Father
with regards to its origination. He started it. He decreed it. He planned it. My salvation is of God the Son
with regards to its acquisition. He purchased it. He performed
it. And my salvation is of God the
Holy Spirit with regards to its application. As we considered
what God the Father has done for my soul and my spiritual
autobiography and of yours if you are a believer, we considered
that almost everything he did for us was done before the foundation
of the world from old eternity before he created the heavens
and the earth. He foreknew me. Now I'll just
briefly recite for you He foreknew me before the foundation of the
world. He loved me before the foundation
of the world. He purposed my salvation before
the foundation of the world. He predestined me and chose me
and highly favored me to be accepted in His Son, Jesus Christ. That's
what God the Father did for me. And it was all of grace, all
of grace. Oh, dear Lord, never let me have
what I deserve. Never give me what I deserve. But if you would be gracious
to me, and He has been. All right, now we considered
last Lord's Day in the first and second parts of this series
what God the Father has done for my soul, and we considered
also what I have not done for my soul. It's all of Him. It's all of God, but today we
consider what God the Son has done for my soul. Now, just briefly
to remind you that our salvation is of God the Father with regard
to its origination, of God the Son with regard to its acquisition,
and of God the Spirit with regard to its application. Now, consider
what Jesus Christ has done for my soul. Everything Jesus Christ did for
my soul was done during the days of His incarnation. The days
of His incarnation occurred about 2,000 years ago when He was God
incarnate in human flesh upon this earth. Lived for 33 and
a half years. But the greatest part of His
saving work and what He did for my soul was done in three hours on Calvary. Darkest day in the history of
this earth. In three hours, from high noon
until 3 p.m., what he did for my soul on that day. But we're going to consider what
Jesus Christ has done for my soul. I would have you to know
that he did it at precisely the right time. We read in Galatians
4, verse 4, that in the fullness of time he came. When the fullness of time had
come, yes, the precise moment of his birth was predestined
of God. He was born of the predestined
parents, born in the predestined place, and born At the predestined
second, when the fullness of the time had come, God said,
it's now time. And the son said, I'm going. And he did. He came to this earth
in the fullness of time. He fulfilled the prophecy of
Psalm 102, verse 13, that you will arise and have mercy on
Zion for the time to favor her. Yes, the sent time had come. There was a time set for him
to come and he arrived at the precise moment to do it. He came
and performed what was done in the 70 weeks of Daniel prophesied
in his prophecy. He finished transgression. He
made an end of sin. He made reconciliation for iniquity. He brought in everlasting righteousness. He sealed up vision. He sealed
up prophecy. And He anointed the most holy.
Seven things. He did that in that short time
that He lived on this earth and in His death on Calvary. But He accomplished what He came
to do. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. We esteemed him stricken, smitten
of God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace
was upon him, but catch this, catch this, by his stripes we
are healed. He did it by his stripes we are
healed. He's on Calvary crucified and at high noon God plunged
the world into darkness For three hours, a veil was brought
across the sun, and there occurred the transaction between
God the Father and Jesus Christ when he was stricken spit, afflicted, and
it was because of me. My sins, your sins, and your
sins, and your sins, they were laid on Him, and He paid the
penalty for every one of them. The sins of all God's elect laid
upon Him, and for three hours, stricken, smitten, and afflicted
by God. And then the smiting stopped,
3 p.m. Why did it stop? He had paid
for every sin of all gods he left, and he shouted, It is finished. The word means perfect, complete. It is finished. And God said
it is. It most certainly is. And the sun came out. The sun let the world behold
what had happened on that tree. He had done his work. What was his work? Well, he saved
me. That's why he was born. You shall
call his name Jesus. The name means Jehovah is salvation. You shall call his name Jehovah
is salvation because that's who he is and that's what he's going
to do and he will save his people from their sins. And he did.
He did. What sins? He saved me from every
sin. of every kind, my original sin
and my actual sins, my public sins and my private sins, my
sins of commission and my sins of omission, the sins of my body's
deeds and of my lips' words and of my heart's thoughts, my sins
whether known or unknown to me, my sins past, present, and even
in the future. He saved me from every one of
them. You will never hear me say, I was saved today and lost
tomorrow because He saved me. He saved me. Second, He redeemed
me. Revelation 5 verse 9, you Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God,
were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of
every tribe. Notice, I want to emphasize this.
Out of, I'm going to come back to that in a minute, there's
a reason why I'm emphasizing, out of every tribe and tongue
and people and nation. All right. Now look at that word,
redeemed. In the Greek text of which it
was written, you'll find the word agora. A-G-O-R-A. It means marketplace. This is
a particular marketplace. This is a slave market. In this
slave market are sinners. They're in bondage to God's law. They're slaves to it. And they
cannot free themselves. And here comes Jesus Christ,
and he says, I'll take that one, and that one, and this one, and
the other. And he chooses which ones he's
going to take, and then he paid for them. And he redeemed them. He paid the ransom, and thereby
he redeemed them. I'll give you three facts concerning
this redemption. First, it is blood redemption. It took blood. We were not redeemed
with corruptible things like silver and gold, but by the precious
blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. It took His blood to redeem us.
My blood would not suffice, neither would yours, but it was His blood. This is a blood redemption. This
is a particular redemption. Some say, well, he came to redeem
everybody. No, no, no. He came to redeem
a people out of. I told you I'd come back. Out
of. Every tribe and tongue and people
and nation, this is a particular redemption. He came to redeem
a particular people. Here is accomplished redemption,
some say. Well, he paid the price of redemption
for everybody. Are they all redeemed? Oh, no,
no, no. They've got to do their part.
Well, then that's not a redemption. Don't tell me about such a redemption
as that. A conditional redemption? A parcel
redemption? I got to do my part? I'm doomed. I'm doomed if I have to contribute
to what he did. But no contribution from me is
needed. He paid it all. Jesus paid it
all, all the debt I owe. Therefore, he redeemed me. Third, he justified me. I'll give you some texts. I'm
going to briefly bring a point from each of them. In Isaiah
53, verse 11, God the Father says, My righteous servant shall
justify many, note that word, many, words mean things, many,
for he shall bear their iniquities. In Romans 3, verse 24, saints
are assured that they are justified freely. by God's grace through
the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. In Romans 5, 9, I am told
that having now been justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through him. Now what is it to be justified? What is it to be justified? It's
a legal term. It means declared righteous. Declared righteous does not do
anything to you It only declares something about you, declared
to be righteous. The moving cause of my justification
was God's grace, because I did not deserve it. I was justified freely, Paul
says, freely. You know what that means? It
means without a cause. There was no moving cause in
me. God said, I'm going to do it. And he did it. My justification
is of God's grace. But he did not do it by mere
fiat. He did not merely speak it and
it was done. No, no, no, no, no. In order
for me to be justified, a righteousness which I did not have had to be
wrought for me. I could not work it out myself. A righteousness had to be wrought
for me and worked out, and Jesus Christ did it. In order for that
righteousness to be wrought for me, God's law had to be fulfilled and God's justice had to be satisfied. And for thirty-three and a half
years, Jesus lived on this earth and fulfilled God's law in every
jot and tittle, every bit of it. So he fulfilled the law, except
for this. The law said, the soul who sins
shall die. That's me. So he had to die in
my place instead. He fulfilled every requirement
of the law, but because justice said Moose Parks has got to die. So Jesus died in my place. And
when he did, he wrought a perfect righteousness. And God imputed
it to me through Jesus Christ, declared me to be righteous. I am as righteous as Jesus Christ
is. Because He is my righteousness. I'm clothed in it. God does not
behold me as I am and as I know myself to be. God sees me in
His Son who is my righteousness. This righteousness is by the
blood of Jesus Christ. His blood that is shed. By His
knowledge my righteous servants shall justify many. And in shedding
that blood, and when he said, it is finished, they were justified. He was raised from the dead because
of our justification. He did it. Jesus Christ did it. Fourth, Jesus Christ sanctified
me. Hebrews 10, 10, and 14. God's
elect are assured that we have been sanctified through the offering
of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Now, sanctified, consider
the difference. To be justified means to declare righteous. It
does nothing for me, but sanctification does. In sanctifying me, Jesus
Christ made me to be holy. In justification, God declares
me to be righteous. In sanctification, Jesus Christ
makes me holy. He has sanctified forever those
who are through the offering of his body. Now, he did this
once for all. What did he do? To be sanctified
is to be separated from the world, pulled out, consecrated and dedicated
unto God. That's what he did. He sanctified
me and did it once for all. Therefore, I am not of those
who will say I may lose my sanctification. Can't lose it. He did it. Furthermore,
since he is my sanctification, I'm not going to talk about progressive
sanctification and getting holier and holier. I do not do it. Jesus Christ did it. He sanctified
me once for all. And a better sanctification there
can never be. And then number five, Jesus Christ
perfected me, Hebrews 10, 14. For by one offering he has perfected
forever those who are being sanctified. Perfected means to be made complete. All right. Now, in the epistle
to the Hebrews, in chapter 7, verse 19, we read that the law
made nothing perfect. The law made nothing perfect. Our brother Chris this morning
read concerning that law. And he read concerning the sacrifices
that were made. Those sacrifices were made precisely
and exactly as God said they should be made. For example, the sacrifice that
he spoke of this morning, our brother Chris, when he read the
scripture, into the most holy place with only the high priest
once a year. Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement. He goes in. He's got the blood for his own
sins. It's the only day of the year
he can go in there. He goes in to the mercy seat,
takes the blood, sprinkles it with the hyssop upon the mercy
seat, and he backs out. Folks, he's in God's presence.
He's in God's presence. God is there between the wings
of the cherubs. And he backs out. And he goes
and kills another animal, takes its blood. He comes back in. He has made himself pure through
the first time he went in. He comes in with this basin of
blood, comes to the mercy seat, and he's looking God in the face
as it were, and he takes his hyssop, and he sprinkles blood
upon the mercy seat, and then he backs out again. He comes out to the people, and
he says, Atonement has been made. Well, it has been made. Just like God said it should
be made. But you know, I still feel like I'm a sinner.
And I know I've got to do this again next year. And so the conscience
always knows Yeah, atonement was made, but it's not perfect. It's not perfect. There's something
missing until Jesus Christ came. And in his death on Calvary,
he sheds his blood. He goes into that tabernacle,
not made with hands, it's in the heavens. He goes before God's
presence in the mercy seat there in the heavens. Of course, Jesus
Christ is the mercy seat. But he goes and before God, he
comes in only once. He's not going to go twice. The
priest went twice because the first time he had to make a sacrifice
and shed and spread blood for his own sins, Jesus had no sins. He comes in. Jesus sprinkles
his own blood there on the mercy seat of the heavenly tabernacle. And God said, perfect! Perfect! You do not ever need
to come back here again, son. You did it! And then he tells his people,
you have been perfected. Folks, my conscience is clear.
I am never again looking for another sacrifice for my sins. I do not need a priest to make another sacrifice for
my sins and the sacred mass or anything else. Jesus has perfected
his people. And he did it on Calvary when
he said, it is finished, which means it is perfect. He did it. He has perfected forever those
who are being sanctified. Number six, Jesus Christ cleansed
me. Revelation 1, 5. Jesus Christ
washed us from our sins in his own blood. Washed us from our
sins in his own blood. There's the prophecy in Zechariah
13, verse 1. In that day a fountain shall
be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem
for sin and for uncleanness. In that day a fountain shall
be opened and in that day there on Calvary there's a cross The Romans thought it was an
instrument of punishment. I'll tell you what it was. It
was an altar. It was an altar. There's a lamb
on that altar. The Lamb of God who takes away
the sin of the world. There's a lamb on that altar. He suffers for the sins of his
people. dying in their place instead. And a soldier comes up and says,
he's already dead. Well, I'm going to make sure.
And he comes up to Jesus on the cross. And he takes his spear,
plunges it into the side of Jesus Christ. And what blood was still
in his body, that spear having pierced his heart, spilled it
there on the ground and a fountain was opened. A fountain was opened
for sin and uncleanness so that we can sing there is a fountain
filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins. And sinners
plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stain. Well,
it cleansed me. It cleansed me. There is a soap
that is said to be 99 in 44, 100% pure. Here's a cleansing
agent that is a little more than 100% pure. And I'm cleansed. I'm cleansed, cleansed from all
my sins. Number seven, Jesus Christ healed
me. By his stripes we are healed. The prophecy of Isaiah, first
chapter, describes me as covered in wounds and bruises and putrefying
sores." I'm sorry, folks, that's the language of Scripture. I
don't mean to offend, but that's what the Scripture says I am,
and that's what we are. From the crown of our head to
the sole of our feet, wounds and bruises and putrefying sores,
oozing forth the pus of our infection. That's what we are. From here
to here, all the way down. wounds and bruises, giving forth the pus of our depravity. And Jesus Christ came to heal
me. How did he heal me? By becoming from head to toe,
wounds and bruises, A crown of thorns pierced that
holy brow, bruised it and broke the skin. Hands bruised his face when they
smote him. The beard is plucked from his
face. A cat of nine tails has lashed
his back and been wrapped around his torso 39 times. He's laid on the ground, a straddle
across, and his hands have spikes driven into them. His feet, his
feet, have spikes driven into them. He is, like me, from head
to toe, a mass of wounds and bruises, and he did that so that he could
heal me by his stripes. My wounds produced the pus of my depravity. His wounds produced the cleansing
agent and the medicine and the balm and Gilead. The great physician
now is here. I think we sang that this morning,
did we not? He's here and he healed me. The
great physician, he has healed me. He continued his healing
of me and my conversion. I was diseased, a spiritual and
unclean leper because of my sin, but he is the great physician,
healed me and made me clean. I was deaf and could not hear
the call to come to God, but Jesus opened my ears so I could
do so. I was blind and could not see
my way to God, but Jesus opened my eyes so I could do so. I was
crippled and could not walk to God, but Jesus strengthened my
legs so I could run to Him. I was mute and could not call
upon God to save me, but Jesus restored my voice so I could
forever speak and sing of what He has done for me. The Son of
Righteousness has arisen with healing in His wings. He healed
me. He healed me completely. Completely. Number eight, he remitted my sins. Matthew
26, verse 28. He declared, my blood of the
new covenant is shed for many for the remission of sins. This
word remission means letting sins go as if they had never
been committed. You know what that means? It
means you'll never find my sins. God says, a search for sin shall
be made, and they will never be found. That means God says to the devil,
go find Moses' sins. And the devil comes back and
says, I couldn't find them. And God says, Even I do not know where they
are, for their sins and iniquities I will remember no more. I took
their sins and cast them behind my back, and they landed in the
deepest part of the sea." Even God says, I do not know
where they are. They're gone, as if never committed. Jesus did that for me. Can you
see now why I love him so much? Number nine, we'll close with
this. Jesus Christ reconciled me to God. Yeah, there I am,
a rebel. Born estranged from God and could hardly wait to learn to
talk because I had so many lies to tell. Departed my mother's
womb speaking lies. Couldn't wait to grow up because
the older I got, the better liar I became. Wandering farther and farther
from God. I'm his enemy. I'm an enmity against him. Worse
than that, God's wrath is an enemy against
me. Then Jesus came. Then Jesus came. I read in Romans 5, verse 10,
that when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through
the death of His Son. What has He done there on Calvary?
He hangs on that tree. He's the God-man. The sins of God's people are
laid upon Him. And God's justice smites him. And there in his death, he who is the God-man takes hold
of God's hand, takes hold of my hand, and brings them together
in himself. reconciled to God through the
death of his son. Oh, Lord, I surrender. I'm done. I surrender. I want to be your friend. And
God says, my friend, you are through the death of Jesus Christ.
been reconciled to God. And I come to you today with
this message. That's what Jesus Christ has
done for all his people. And I say to you, if you have
never been reconciled to God, now's the time. Be reconciled
to God. And then you can know what Jesus
Christ has done for his people and how glorious is this work
of salvation that he has wrought and performed. Seize your rebellion now if you
never have before. Stack your arms. Be done with
your rebellion. Trust in Jesus Christ And then
you can say with me, I will declare what God the Son has done for
my soul. Oh God, our Father, be pleased,
we pray, to bless this word. Be pleased, we pray, to glorify
your Son in our presence. Be pleased, we pray, to receive
our thanksgiving for all that He has done for us. To Your glory
in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
