In the sermon "The Man That God Chooses," Darvin Pruitt addresses the Reformed doctrine of divine election, emphasizing that God's choice is sovereign and unmerited. He argues that the blessings of salvation are not due to human effort but are ordained by God's eternal will, as illustrated in Psalm 65:4. Pruitt supports this with various scripture references, including James 1:17, Ephesians 1:3, and John 6:37, which affirm that all good gifts and spiritual blessings come from God alone and that all whom the Father has chosen will inevitably come to Christ. The practical significance of this message highlights Christians' assurance and satisfaction in their salvation, pointing to the grace of God that saves and keeps His chosen people.

$4,000 eye surgery and I still have
to wear glasses. I invite you this morning to
turn with me to Psalm 65. I want to thank God for the opportunity
to be here today and also to this church for having me. There was a time when I thought
I'd never enter the door of God's house again. I felt like David said, he said,
I thought I was clean gone. I thought I'd never be enabled
of God to come into his house, let alone to worship him, and to preach his gospel was
beyond anything I could ever imagine. But our God is merciful. He's
merciful. He's gracious. He's long-suffering, he said
to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come
to repentance. I remember back in the mid-70s,
I was attending a little church called White Oak Chapel, a little
independent Baptist church about 50 miles downriver from Ashland. And we had an evangelist come. We had a revival. And there wasn't
too many of us in there to do anything, so I was one of them. And we went out and knocked on
doors and was inviting people to come to church. My brother-in-law's
brother had come to visit him, and I went up there, and my brother-in-law
said, just don't even go in there. He said, all you're going to
do is, he's going to make you mad. And I said, well, he can't
make me mad. All I'm going to do is invite
him to come to church. So I went in and invited him,
and he said, why? Nobody had ever asked me that.
They'd either say yes or no or make an excuse. Nobody ever said
why. And he kind of caught me off
guard and I scrambled for an answer and finally I said, well,
we have an evangelist down here that came to preach for us. I think you'll enjoy hearing
him. He said, why? What does he preach? And so I got the general answer.
I said, he preaches the gospel. And this man was looking at the
floor as he was talking to me, and after I said that, he looked
me right in the eye, and he said, you wouldn't know the gospel
if you met it in the middle of the road. And I said, well, what
do you mean I don't know the gospel? Well, he said, if you
know the gospel, what is it? And for the first time in my
life, I realized I didn't know the gospel that I professed to
believe. I found myself lost. Lost. That word took on a whole
new meaning to me. Lost. We use it. It's part of
religious language. We use that word all the time.
But it's a whole different thing when you're lost. When you're
lost. I didn't know who to go to. I
went to the elders in our church. They knew nothing about what
I was talking about. Well, the gospel, that's inviting
people to come to the front, you know, it's inviting people
to... We had a little mourner's bench and you'd come up there
and do what they call praying through, whatever that is, and
I guess you just pray till you're through, and then you get up. Anyhow, I began to read the Bible with
some seriousness, trying to figure out what the gospel was. And
I run on to things I'd never read before. I read on Nebuchadnezzar's confession
after God sent him out and let him eat like an oxen in the field. He gave him his reasoning back
and he said, now I praise and honor and extol the God of heaven.
His kingdom is from generation to generation. And he doeth according
to his will in the armies of heaven and among the inhabitants
of the earth. And none can say his name or say unto him what
doest thou. I've never heard anything like
that before. And I read some other scriptures
and then I went over to the Baptist bookstore. And I'd take these
things and I'd look through the books and see what they had to
say about it. If they had anything interesting, I'd buy the book.
And I went on doing that and just wasn't getting anywhere.
Finally, one of the deacons at my church, my brother-in-law
and I were talking about it. And he said, well, there's a
guy on Sunday morning dealing with those things all the time.
And I said, there's nobody on television during prime time
on Sunday morning dealing with these things. Oh yeah, he said
he is. And so Kathy and I stayed home
next week. And we turned the TV on and there
was a man on there, his name was Henry Mayhem. And I heard the gospel. For the
first time in my life I heard the gospel. Oh my soul. After hearing him preach on the
television, I went up to Ashland to meet him. And I told Kathy,
I said, this is where we're going to church. So we started going. And I came in time to understand and to see, to perceive
in my heart, and still learning today, what
this gospel is. What this gospel is. And what
I come to learn in time, and it's a privilege to know, is
that those chosen of God and redeemed by Christ, and called
by the Holy Spirit of God are blessed. They're blessed. Blessed beyond your imagination. You can't imagine how blessed
you are. You was blessed before you had
a being. You were blessed before there
was a creation. You were blessed and are blessed
and shall ever be blessed of God. And I believe that's what was
on David's mind as the Holy Spirit inspired him to pen this on.
And that's my message this morning, Psalm 65 verse 4. He said, blessed
is, not will be or shall be or might be, blessed is the man
whom thou choosest and causes to approach unto thee. that he
may dwell in thy courts. But if he is, if he finds himself
among them, we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house,
even of thy holy temple. What I thought was something
a person must earn Turned out to be the free gift of God. Turned
out to be the gift of God's sovereign grace. Why would he choose me? Because he would. Because he
would. There's no other answer. No other
answer. That's the answer God gives,
because he would. Scripture said, that he gave
us power, those who received him. The reason they did is he
gave them power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on his name which were born. Not of the will of the flesh,
and not of the will of man, but of God. Because God would. It's because God would. What I thought was an act of
man's will turned out to be the eternal will of God. Christ said,
I come down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of him
that sent me. This is the will of God. And what I thought to
begin with me began in eternity in Christ our Savior. Everything
that I thought. Now he said, there's a way that
seemeth right unto you. And that way seemed right unto
me. Seemed right unto me to go to church. I was raised in church.
Seemed right unto me to make a profession of faith. Seemed
right unto me to dedicate myself to work in that church and be
a part of that church. But what seems right unto a man, it seems right unto a man. is
not the right way. It's not the right way. God's
way is the only way, and that way is Christ. That way is Christ. Paul said, God hath saved us,
he told young Timothy. God hath saved us. We can save
ourselves. The Jewish nation didn't save
us. The priesthood didn't save us.
God saved us, and then he called us with a holy calling, not according
to our words, but according to his own purpose and grace which
was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. The title of my message this
morning is The Man That God Chooses. There's four things that I want
you to see in this psalm this morning. I want you to see the
source of these blessings and the person by whom they're giving
and the power behind the blessings. You know, I purpose, I sit there
and watch my young grandbabies. We used to put out an old drywall
bucket and we'd put a little bit of water in it and they'd
climb up in that thing in their diapers and play in that bucket
and we'd sit there and watch them and I thought as I watched
them play, as long, you know, As long as I got a nickel to
my name, they'll never be bankrupt. As long as I got a loaf of bread,
they'll never go hungry. And I thought about that, and
now, I look back on that and I think about the Lord. Oh, my
soul. When he says, they shall never,
they shall never. They shall never. When he says,
no man gonna pluck you out of my hand, that's not wishful thinking
on his part. No man gonna pluck you out of
his hand. When he said, I come to save my people from their
sins, that's exactly what he's gonna do, what he's gonna do. The power behind these blessings,
and then I want you to see the wonderful state of those that
he chose and blessed. So let's begin here with the
source of the blessing. In James chapter one and verse
17, we're told that every good gift, every good gift, and every
perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of
life with whom is no bearableness, neither shadow of turn. All these
blessings, they come down from God in Him. They come down from
one who calls himself the Father, the Father. And nothing that God has for
chosen sinners comes from the sinner. It doesn't come from
them. It comes from God. God saves
men through the preaching of the gospel. And the word of God
says that when we learn that, when we know that, when we've
heard, we're gonna say in our heart how beautiful are the feet
of them that preach the gospel of peace. They bring good tidings
from God. Because we know that God sent
them. And God used them to save our
souls. But we know where those blessings
come from. It wasn't from that man. He just used that man. They come from God. And that's
what James is reminding us of. Every good gift, every perfect
gift is from above, cometh down from the Father of lights. What's
he talking about there? He's the God of all revelation.
He's the God of all revelation. We know absolutely nothing about
God except what He reveals to us. We're not born with any innate
knowledge of God. And then he tells us that these
blessings coming from the Father of Light with whom is no variableness. He's not wishy-washy. He don't
say, well, he's doing pretty good. I'm going to bless him.
And then when he goes bad, he says, eh, this is me taking you
off of my list. No. No, that's not how it works. Not how it works. Those he blesses,
he blesses. He blesses them forever. It blesses
them forever. They come down from the Father
of lights, with whom is no wearableness, neither shadow of turning. Christ said this over in John
chapter six. He said, every man therefore
that hath heard and hath learned of the Father, come with unto
me. He's the Father of lights. Paul
writes in Ephesians 1, 3, blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us. This is something he did
in the past. He uses that word hath. It happened
in the past. Who hath blessed us, now watch
this, with all spiritual blessings. Even those that haven't come
past yet. Did you ever notice when you read over in Romans
chapter 8, where he talks about all things working together for
good to them that love God, to them who are called according
to His purpose? For, he said, whom He did foreknow,
them He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image
of His Son. We might be the firstborn among
His brethren. And whom He did predestinate,
them He also called. Now wait a minute, he's talking
about eternity past. Yeah, I know. Them he also called. Them he
also justified. Them he also glorified. God did
all those things in eternity past in his will and counsel. Worldly religion paints a picture
of a world in which some dwell who have the ability and willingness
and insight to seek the Lord, win his affection and thereby
work themselves into his favor to be blessed of God. But the
truth is there's none that understandeth and none that seeketh after God.
The man who has any understanding has been given to it by God.
That's a blessing of God to give you understanding. If you know
any, Paul said, if there be any, any affection in you, any of
those things from God, if, if, if, do I have an interest
in Christ? Do I have an interest in the
true and living God? Where did it come from? It didn't
come from here. Out of the heart proceed evil
thoughts, adultery, fornication, all this stuff comes out from
the heart, defiles a man. If I have an interest in Christ,
where did it come from? It comes from God. It comes from
God. God leaves a man to himself,
he'll wander about until he finds something that appeals to his
sinful nature. And that's where he'll park and
that's where he'll stay until he wakes up in hell. What we're talking about this
morning is a man that God has blessed and caused. He not only chose him, but he
caused him to approach unto him. He's not gonna leave him alone.
He's gonna intervene on his behalf. What are you saying, Preacher?
I'm saying salvation to the Lord. That's what I'm saying. Religion's
not saying that, listen to them. They're saying sinners save yourselves. I know from the Word of God,
from the Spirit of God, you can't save yourself. Only God can save, salvations
of the Lord. And then secondly, I want us
to see the person through whom these blessings are dispersed. He calls him in Psalm 65, one,
I don't know if you ever noticed this before, God in Zion. God in his people. God in his church. God in his
elect. Mankind fell in the garden. Sin
entered and death passed and Adam all died. You had the Quicken
who were dead in trespasses. In Ezekiel 37, the prophet of
God describes the whole house of Israel, God's elect, as a
valley of dead, dry bones. He said, what do you see, son
of man? He said, I see a lot of bones,
and they're very dry, and they're very dead. No potential of life
out there. Just dead, dry bones. He said,
can they live? Can ruined man live? Ezekiel gave him the only answer
there is. Oh Lord God, thou knowest. Thou
knowest. The whole of mankind died spiritually
in the garden. And all that Adam could ever
produce is another Adam. That's all he could do, just
another son of Adam, another daughter of Adam. And the only
hope for any fallen sinner is for God to intervene, God to
enter into his life, enter in on his behalf. And that's exactly
what God did by his Son before the world began. He made provision
for those he chose. He made provision. God chose
a people in his Son. In Colossians 1, verse 18, he
tells us that Christ is the head of the church who is the beginning. The beginning of what? If you
read Colossians 1, you'll find out he's the beginning of all
things. He's the beginning of creation. He's the beginning
of providence. He's the beginning of revelation.
God doesn't have anything to say to us apart from Christ. He's the beginning of all things,
but especially of the church. And he said a part of God is
our federal head and representative. The fate of the world rested
on Adam. It rested on Adam. God put a
perfect man in a perfect environment He gave him only one commandment.
He said, that tree of knowledge of good and evil, don't eat it.
Don't eat it. But he did. And the fate of this
world hung on that man, Adam. By one man, sin entered into
the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all
men. Religion always misrepresents
the person and work of Christ because they're ignorant of who
he is. He's God come into the flesh. They're ignorant of why he came,
ignorant about what he did and where he's at and what he's doing
now. Is he up there with his, just
sitting there in the chair saying, well, whatever will be, will
be? No, he's up there arranging all things, working all things. He's up there making intercession
for us. His person sitting there intercedes
for us. He don't have to say anything.
Just his person seated at the right hand of God says it all.
It says it all. The Bible not only teaches election
in Christ, but it goes on to describe the eternal blessings
of God, telling us that He's predestinated us unto the adoption
of children by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the good
pleasure of His will. And I don't know if you've ever
thought about it, but God's will is not just a will, it's not
just a force. God's will is a redemptive will. You can't find any other will
in here. It's a redemptive will. He endures those vessels of wrath
that you read about a while ago. He endures them for his elect's
sake. He uses them for his elect's
sake. God's will is a redemptive will. He's gonna manifest his
glory through the redemption of a people that he chose in
Christ before the world was. He's gonna manifest who he is. The very heart and soul of God,
he's gonna manifest to them. Christ said, I come down from
heaven not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent
me, and this is the Father's will which has sent me, that
of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but raise
it up again at the last day. and everything God has for chosen
sinners, he's purposed for them to have by way of his son. His son is the surety of the
everlasting covenant of grace. I tell you, when you think about
God's eternal provision in Christ, all spiritual blessings, election,
predestination, acceptance, were accepted in the blood, have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. You think about providence,
the gospel, faith, preservation, even our perseverance. We persevere
because God preserves us. If he didn't keep us, we wouldn't
persevere. And so long as the Son of God
lives and reigns at the right hand of the Father, we're blessed. We're blessed in him, blessed
in him. Now here's the third thing I
want you to see. The power of God to bring these blessings
to reality. He's gonna see to it that every
heir gets his inheritance. He's gonna see to it. Paul wrote to the Thessalonians
in his second letter. And he said, oh, he told us about
antichrist and he told us how antichrist in the last days was
going to be so overwhelming and blind men and God giving them
over to a reprobate mind, giving them over to strong delusion
to believe a lie and be damned because they would not receive
the love of God, the love of the truth. They wouldn't receive
it. But he said, I thank God for you, brethren. Beloved of
the Lord, for God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation,
now watch this, through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the
truth, whereunto he called you by our gospel. That's why you're
sitting here today. That's what Paul was telling
them. That's why you're assembling together today, is because God
purposed these things from the beginning, and he sent his Spirit
to make sure it happens. I used to try to talk to people
about God's irresistible, the irresistible calling of the spirit. You're not gonna resist him. You're not gonna resist him.
Because the first thing he's gonna do is fill that head that's
so rebellious and so ignorant, he's gonna fill it full of truth
and fill it full of light. And you ain't going to want to
resist him after that. You're going to want to learn
more and more and more. God's elect are scattered throughout
the world. Turn with me to John chapter
6. Let me show you something over here. God's elect are scattered
throughout the world. They're no different than any
other child of Adam by nature. They grow up, we just like them.
You couldn't tell us apart if you had us in a room. So how does God bring his people
to know their election of God and receive what God's purpose
for them to have? How does that happen? How does
a man know his election of God? You're a sinner here this morning,
you don't know God. But you know because I just read
it to you that God has an elect people and that all those he
chose he's gonna draw to himself. But how does that man know Christ
died for me? How does that man know his election
of God? How does he know he's been eternally blessed by God?
John 6, 37. All that the Father giveth me,
that's his elect, shall come to me. Where are they gonna go? They're gonna go to Christ. Every
one of them. They're gonna come to me. And him that cometh to me, as
I am, as God has testified of me, as God has inspired these
men to write of me, as God has called these preachers to preach
my gospel, and declare to men who I am. They're gonna come
to me as I am, and all of them that come to me, he said, I'm
not gonna cast them out. Not gonna cast them out. Oh, my soul. Listen to this,
John 10, 26. They said, if they'll be the
Christ, tell us plainly. They already thought they was
God's elect. They weren't worried about that.
They were Jews. And they were sitting in judgment
of him. That was a whole reason for the
council to determine if the Christ could come. And they said, if
thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. He said, I told you. Plainly. But you believe not. And I want
you, because you're not my sheep. You're not my sheep. As I said
unto you, my sheep, hear my voice. And I know them. And they follow
me. They follow me. There's a lot of reasons why
they rejected him. Pride, tradition, lies, ignorance,
blindness, rebellion, and on and on the list goes. There's
all kinds of reasons why. But the bottom line is this.
Faith is the gift of God. And that's what he's telling
us back here in the psalm. Blessed is the man that God chooses. He's blessed. He's not going
to leave him to himself. He's not going to leave him to
his will. He's not going to leave him to the will of this world.
He's not going to leave him to the power of the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children
of disobedience. He's going to intervene on his
behalf. And He's gonna irresistibly call
him through the Spirit of God. Salvation is brought to pass,
and I don't know an issue this generation is fighting against
more than this, but their salvation is brought to pass by the preaching
of the gospel and the powerful working of the Holy Spirit of
God. It always has and it always will. There's no bearableness
with Him. These gifts are His gifts. There's
no changing of the mind. I don't care what your situation
is. One fellow told me he was up
in Iowa and he was listening to me on the internet and listening
to Don. It's funny how God takes a man
and He takes some preachers and He'll listen to them and He won't
listen to nobody else. But that's what he did. And he
was listening to that, and he was listening to me talk about
this very subject. And he said, yeah, but my situation,
we didn't have any preachers. I said, you reckon God didn't
know that? You reckon maybe that's why God
put us on the internet? How come you listen to us and
not somebody else? Why ain't you listening to Jimmy
Swagger or somebody? Why are you listening to us?
And he began to see something about this and began to give
it some study and some thought. It brought to pass by the preaching
of the gospel and the powerful working of the Holy Ghost, Paul
said, I'm an apostle, a preacher of the gospel. But he said, I don't think that
there's any sufficiency in me. And don't get that idea. But
he said, my sufficiency is of God. If the spirit of the living
God doesn't attend my ministry, it's just words. It's just words. Paul said, in his first letter
to the Thessalonians, he said, I know your election of God.
They didn't know it, he did. He said, I know your election
of God. How do you know that, Paul? My gospel came not into
you in word only, but it came unto you in power and in the
Holy Ghost and in much assurance. Assurance in Christ. He said to the Corinthians, we
have received not the spirit of the world, the prince of the
power of the air, but we have received the spirit which is
of God that we might know the things freely given to us of
God. That's why God gives his spirit. He tells you in John
16, when the spirits come, he ain't gonna speak of himself.
There's churches out here. I know there is right here in
Danway. I used to live here. And all they talk about is the
Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit.
You see somebody preaching that, they don't know the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit comes, he ain't gonna speak of himself.
Well then how do I know the Holy Spirit's working? He's gonna
speak about Christ. And he's gonna say it in a way
that's affectional. It's affectional. It works in
the heart. When Paul finished quoting that
scripture, I just quoted to you out of 1 Corinthians 2. He said,
but the natural man, the natural man, those in whom God has not
intervened, they receive not the things of the Spirit of God.
Isn't it funny how the rich, they'll receive the priesthood,
they'll receive Just about anything in the Bible, you tell them God
created the world, and they'll sit there and agree with you.
They'll receive all these things. But not the things of the Spirit
of God. They won't have it. They won't
have it. The gospel of Jesus Christ comes
to chosen sinners by way of a preacher called of God, whose ministry
is blessed by the Holy Spirit of God. Blessed is the man whom
thou choosest and causest. Everybody he chose, he's gonna
cause to approach unto him. And then lastly, let me show
you the end of this calling, the state of those blessed of
God. What is the state of a believer
called of God? God called him, he revealed himself
to him, He's given him strong assurance that everything that
he said about Christ and everything Christ said about himself and
his redemptive blood and all of his righteousness, all of
these things. He's given strong assurance,
he believes in all of those things. But what is his state now? What is his state? The state of those blessed of
God. Well, our text tells us. He calls to approach unto him
that. See that word, that? He may dwell
in thy courts. Where are the Lord's courts? Where is his courts? His courts
is where he dwells. His courts are where he reigns.
His courts are at his house, where his people have been called
of God to approach. Where is this? Inside, in his
churches, where two or more gather together in my name, there shall
I be in the midst. Where he's in the midst, that's
where his courts are. That's where his courts are. When John heard his voice on
the Isle of Patmos, he heard this voice, he was caught up
in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and he heard this voice, and
he turned to see who was speaking. You know what he saw? Listen
to this. Seven golden candlesticks. Is that where that came from?
That's where it came from. That's where that voice was heard,
from these seven golden candlesticks. And these seven golden candlesticks
are one with a man. Not only did he see the candlesticks,
but then he saw the man. He saw the man as he saw the
candlesticks. And not just any man, but one
like unto the Son of God. And as he saw the man, he saw
in his hand seven stars, and he was holding those stars in
his hand. Now hear what the Spirit said
to John. He said, these candlesticks are
my churches. God gonna speak? Where's he gonna
do it? In his churches. That's what
he's telling John, I'm gonna speak in my churches. How many
times in the book of Revelation does he say, and the Spirit saith
unto the churches? Over and over and over, don't he? And the stars that he held
in his hands, these are the angels of the churches, the ministers,
the pastors of these churches. He said, these things saith he
that walks in the midst of the candlesticks, and holdeth the
ministers, in his hands. These are the courts of God where
we're brought to dwell, where his people are commanded to assemble
and not to forsake the assembling of themselves together. Now watch
this, Psalm 65, verse four. We shall be satisfied with the
goodness of thy house, even thy holy temple. That man, that blessed
man, chosen of God, chosen in Christ, chosen to be blessed,
is caused. What do you mean caused? I mean
caused by the power of God's Spirit and the gospel of Jesus
Christ. Caused to approach the living
God, to dwell in his courts, children in his house, servants
in his palace, fellow citizens with the saints. You can go on
and on with the descriptions that God gives. He's caused to dwell in his courts. Well, what's he find there? Satisfaction. Satisfaction. I like that old
story I heard years ago about a famous country and western
singer and he'd been out to hold a special session somewhere down
around Nashville and he was on his way back and he decided to
take a shortcut through the mountains. Don't ever do that. He drove, and drove, and drove,
and drove, and drove. He was only 30 miles from Nashville,
but he couldn't get there. He just kept going around, and
up, and down, and around. Finally, he was about to run
out of gas, and he pulled the car over. And he said, well,
I'll walk down here until I find a house. And he found his house,
and he could see the lights on. And he went up there, and there
was a fellow in there, and he didn't seem really right. But he said he was desperate.
He said, I told him who he was. Oh, he said, I know who you are.
I know who you are. And he said, well, I've run out
of gas. He said, I need to use your phone.
You'd be kind enough to let me. Oh, come on in. Come on in. So
he called whoever it was he had to call. And God sat him down. And here he comes with a guitar. He said, I know you're a famous
guitarist, but he said, would you like to hear me play? One
guy let him use his phone. Yeah, he said, I'd love to hear
you play. So he gets his guitar out and
he goes, plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk. And finally, the guitarist said,
you know, if you'll take that left hand and move it around
on that, you can get different sounds. He said, yeah, that's
for them. They're looking. He said, I found
mine. When you go into his courts,
into his house, you're going to hear a one note song. Christ,
Christ, Christ, Christ. That's all you're going to hear.
And you know what's going to happen? You're going to be satisfied. Huh? I don't want. I don't want
anything else. Do you?" That lady told Scott
Richardson, she said, Christ, Christ, Christ, that's all you
ever preach. He said, would you write that
on my tombstone? That's all this preacher ever
preached was Christ. Just put that on my tombstone.
I tell you, when he brings you into his courts and he teaches
you the truth, you're satisfied. Oh my soul, to be satisfied.
Satisfied. Now watch this, with the goodness
of his house, even of thy holy temple. Satisfied. Fed to the
full. Rex took us out to eat last night.
I ate everything I could eat. I couldn't eat no more. I couldn't
even eat the little rolls that they gave. I'm full. I'm satisfied. That's what happens when you
come into God's house. You hear about Christ, and he
just, he fills all your wants. He fills all your dreams. He
fills all, all these blessings in him, and you eat all you can
eat. I was preaching on the 5,000 that he fed the other day, and
I told him, he dispersed all this food. This is about the
preaching of the gospels, what that feeding was all about. And
he dispersed this food into baskets. Each disciple had a basket. And there were probably 15,000,
16,000 people or more. It was 5,000 men, plus the women
and children. Anyway, they started out with
a full basket. And they fed everybody there.
And when they got done, they took up 12 baskets. That's how
many they had set up with. Everybody there was satisfied.
And the man with the basket, his food hadn't went down one
bit. A fella like that one time just
going over to the Ohio River or Mississippi River, one of
these big rivers, and take a gallon bucket and dip it in there. Did
you see any change in the river? None whatsoever. When we preach
the gospel, that's the way it is. My basket's still full. And I hope that God has given
you some satisfaction in the Christ that I preach. He's all.
There's nothing. There's nothing else. Just Christ.
He's all. He's sufficient. And when you
learn that, you're satisfied. Satisfied with the goodness of
his house. All right, thank you. Lord willing, I'm gonna preach
from the same psalm Wednesday night on the river of God. So you can be looking this psalm
over.
