Many years ago, there was a fellow
in a village outside of London who had to go to London on business
about once a month. On Saturday, he would go to town. His boy always wanted to go.
And finally, the boy got a sufficient age. His father thought he'd
take him to town. And he told him, he said, son, today, I want
you to go to town with me. hitched up their team and they
went into town and did a few things. Then the father had some
errands that he had to take care of and he took his boy to a specific
place and he said, now son, I've got to go take care of some things
on my own. I want you to stand right here. You don't move, you
stand right here and I'll be back in just a little bit and
pick you up and we'll go home. And he went and took care of
his business and went home. He got home and went inside.
His wife said to him, said, where's Johnny? Oh, no, I forgot. He wasn't accustomed to taking
his boy. He forgot him, left him standing right where he put
him, and he hurriedly went back to London. It was getting almost
dark, and he was terrified what might have happened to his boy.
And he went back to where he left him, and there that boy
stood, right there in that little cove, where his daddy left him.
He said, oh, son, you haven't gone anywhere. I'm so thankful.
He said, well, daddy told me to stand right here. And he stood
right where he was told. Forty-five years ago, God in
his mercy put me in this blessed work of preaching the gospel
of his grace. And he took me to a place called
Mount Calvary, And he said, stand right here. And this is where I've been ever
since. And I intend never to be moved. Turn with me, if you
will, to Ephesians chapter 1. Ephesians, the first chapter. I come this morning to what is
perhaps my favorite chapter in the Word of God and my favorite
subject. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
by the will of God to the saints which are at Ephesus and to the
faithful in Christ Jesus. Grace be unto you and peace from
God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, according as
he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestinated us unto
the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according
to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of
his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted into beloved, in
whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of
sins, according to the riches of his grace. redemption through
his blood. That's my subject. Two weeks
ago, I tried to preach to you on the subject of limited atonement,
precious redemption. I will pick up right where I
left off there and try to to you that which the Spirit of
God reveals to us in this seventh verse about redemption through
the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the verses 3
through 6, God the Holy Spirit tells us what God the Father
has done for us from eternity in election, in predestination,
in and blessing us with all covenant blessings in Christ and accepting
us in the beloved. Then in verse six, he begins
to work on what God the Son does for us in time in the accomplishment
of redemption through his blood. Then in verses 12 and following,
the apostle tells us about what God the Holy Spirit does in the
saving of our souls in regeneration and in effectual calling. You
see, salvation is the work of the triune Jehovah, Father, Son,
and Holy Ghost. and the works of all three are
vital. I mean by that, the works of
the father from eternity and the works of the son when he
walked on this earth and the works of the Holy Spirit in the
appointed time of love are all absolutely necessary to our salvation. No one would ever be saved without
God's election and predestination. There's no possibility of salvation
without God's election and predestination. Except God accepted you in Christ
before the world was, he'll never accept you. Salvation is according
to God's eternal purpose of grace accomplished by him in eternity. The Apostle tells us in Hebrews
4, 3 and tells us very plainly with regard to all this blessed
salvation, all this rest of grace that we have in Christ Jesus,
the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
That means that everybody loved, chosen, predestinated, adopted
by God in eternity was saved in eternity and shall be saved
in time. But hear me and hear me well.
Hear me and hear me well. That does not nullify or set
aside anything with regard to the necessity of God's works
of grace in time and in our experience. Those and those only shall be
saved who were purchased with the precious blood of Christ
at Calvary when he died for our sins. Except the Son of God shed
his blood, the purpose of God would fall to the ground. Is
that plain enough? If Christ hadn't died for you,
you'd go to hell, election notwithstanding. If that's not a possibility,
I know that's not a possibility. The problem is most folks don't.
Christ's death is as necessary as was God's purpose of his death. and accept God the Holy Spirit,
give you life and faith in Jesus Christ. Accept God, cross a sinner's
path by the preaching of the gospel. Accept God, send his
word and heal you. Accept God, give you faith in
Jesus Christ. Accept God the Holy Spirit, make
you alive by his grace and calls you to come to his son. You're
going to hell, election and redemption notwithstanding. Pastor, that
can't be. I know it can't be, but not many
folks do. God's purpose secures the certain
accomplishment of redemption by Christ in time. And Christ's
redemption and God's purpose absolutely secures the certain
effectual calling of God's elect in the experience of grace in
time. All the works of the triune God
are vital. Without them, without any of
them, you could not be saved. Salvation is of the Lord. Redemption. What a marvelous,
marvelous subject we have before us. But redemption presupposes
something evil. Redemption presupposes a grave
situation. It presupposes captivity, bondage,
and slavery. Were we not fallen captive, enslaved
people, there would be no need for redemption. But God's elect,
like all others born of Adam, were by nature children of wrath,
even as others. That is, we were born with a
sense of guilt, born under the curse of the law, born sinners,
just like everybody else, in captivity to sin, so that the
wicked go astray as soon as they're born, speaking lies. The wicked, All of them. Who are they? Every
child born of a woman. The wicked go astray as soon
as they're born, speaking lies. And there's no goodness in them.
Oh, he's such a good boy. Not if he's yours, he's not.
Not if he's mine, he's not. The wicked go astray as soon
as they're born, speaking lies. If you don't believe me, watch
your children. If you don't govern your children,
they'll run around like a bunch of wild animals because they
go astray as soon as they're born speaking lies. You don't
have to teach your children to lie. It comes more natural to
them than breathing. You take the babies and you bounce
them on your knee and you want them to say daddy or mama, First
word out of my mind. And they will lie to you before
they'll tell you the truth. If you catch them with their
hand in the cookie jar and chocolate chips running down their jaw.
No, I didn't do that. I didn't lick those cookies.
Why? Because the wicked go astray as soon as they're born speaking
lies. Evil is in the heart of every
child, and it bursts forth sooner or later. And it is so with you
who are adults as well. We are all born and live by nature
in bondage to Satan, so that the wicked are taken captive
by Satan at his will. They have no power against him,
no ability to resist him. Nothing with which to restrain
him. Nothing by which they can hold him back. They're taken
captive by Satan at his will. So that the man who thinks he
could never do something suddenly finds himself doing the thing
he thought he never could. How could a man walk in and shoot
his wife? I guarantee you, I can find you
some men who've done it who once said, how could a man possibly
do that? The wicked are taken captive by Satan at his will. We all live all the days of our
life under the curse of God's law. I mean by that under the
conscious curse of God's law. He that believeth on the son
of God hath everlasting life. He that believeth not the Son
of God is condemned already. So that every one of you who
are without Christ, you are sitting here listening to this preacher
again. Hear me. Hear me well. The youngest of
you to the oldest of you. If you can hear my voice, you
know that what I'm saying is so. If you have no sacrifice
to give you peace with God, your conscience is constantly terrifying
you. Sometimes you can push aside
the voice of conscience and you silence it a little bit so that
you don't think about it. Don't think about dying and don't
think about judgment. Don't think about hell. but you
can't escape it. The wicked live under a sense
of guilt and condemnation. Would to God he would make you
to know your guilt and to know your sin that you might confess
your iniquity, your transgressions and your sin and seek mercy from
his son. But all are living by nature
under the curse of God's law. Redemption also implies a prior
ownership. It implies a prior ownership. I've only done business with
a pawn shop where I pawned something once. When I got back from college
down in Springfield, Missouri, I'd gone to a pawn shop and bought
a suitcase so I could take my things out to Springfield. And
I came back and got married. And I went pawn shop to pawn
the suitcase. And I got almost five dollars,
within five dollars what I pawned it for. Or what I bought it for.
But I went back and pawned the thing and they gave me a ticket.
And I go back with that ticket and redeemed the suitcase that
was mine. With the price that was specified.
That's called redemption. You go in, you lay down the price,
give them the ticket, you take the item, and you walk out with
it. It was mine before and I bought it back. I bought it back, well
I didn't buy mine back, I just... I was getting married and I needed
$20. So I didn't go back and get mine,
but I had the right of redemption. Redemption implies a prior ownership. The Lord Jesus brought his people
with his blood who were given to him in covenant mercy long
before Adam went astray in the garden and they fell in him.
And when he came to Calvary, he brought back that which was
his before it fell and before the bondage ever occurred. Redemption
involves, however, much more, much more than just the work
of Christ at Calvary. We tend always to limit words. And we like to put things in
neat little boxes. When we think about salvation,
we think about the time when the Spirit of God comes and awakens
the dead and gives you faith in Christ. Well, that's not salvation. That's not salvation. That's
just the experience of it. That's just the initial experience
of it. Salvation takes in the whole
package from everlasting to everlasting. Everything God has done for us,
bringing us at last into heaven's glory. So it is with redemption. Redemption is not just the purchase
of our souls by the blood of Christ. Redemption is the complete
deliverance of God's elect from sin and all its consequences
by the blood of Jesus Christ and by the power of God's omnipotent
grace, delivering us from sin and all its consequences at last
into the glory of God in eternal heaven. That's redemption. Redemption is the theme of this
book. It is the subject spoken of on
every page. It's prophesied, it's pictured,
it's portrayed, it's presented to us in all the various types
and ceremonies of the law. Redemption is the theme of the
scriptures, Old Testament and New. The New Testament explains
and defines redemption for us. The Old Testament proclaimed
it and prophesied and in picture. Redemption by price. by the price
of Christ's precious blood, as was indicated by the sacrifice
of the Paschal Lamb. Redemption by power. God brought
Israel to the Red Sea. The price had been paid. The
blood had been shed. But they came to the Red Sea,
and there's that sea before them, and Pharaoh's army behind them,
and the children of Israel are just in a tizzy. What are we
going to do? What are we going to do? And
Moses said, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. And
God opened up the sea. God opened up the sea and they
went across on dry land. The scriptures speak in the book
of Ruth of that great Boaz, the kinsman of Ruth. And the whole
picture, the whole picture in the book of Ruth is a redemption
by a kinsman. The law was given by God telling
us that a kinsman could redeem his brother. A kinsman, if he
was able and willing, could redeem his brother. If he had the ability
and he was willing to do it, he could redeem his brother who
had lost everything. And so that's what Boaz did for
Ruth. That's what Christ did for us.
Father, he became our near kinsman so that he might have the ability
and the Willingness wherewith to redeem he came here as a man
in our flesh Touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but
this man is God in the flesh Redemption is portrayed throughout
the scriptures by a substitute By substitute that paschal lamb
the morning and evening sacrifice the turtle does all those sacrifices
Represented a substitute. Do you know why those Rams died?
I Do you know why those lambs died? Do you know why those turtledoves
were slaughtered? They died in the place of the
one who brought them to God's priest according to the law.
So it was with our Lord Jesus Christ. He came here By God's
decree, according to God's law, this one who was spoken of throughout
the scriptures, he came fulfilling the scriptures and died at Calvary
in the womb instead of his people as our substitute. He who knew
no sin was made sin for us by God's own hand that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him. Redemption. is the theme of the book, and
it is the dominant theme of my prayer, meditation, and worship. The dominant theme of this pulpit,
the dominant theme of preaching. I mean by that, if I did not
preach redemption through his blood, I would not preach. If I did not preach redemption
through his blood every time I stood in the pulpit to speak
in God's name to eternity bound sinners, I would not preach and
I wouldn't call myself God's preacher. I wouldn't do it. I'm
determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and
him crucified. I make no apology. But rather,
this is the one thing about which I boast. Christ crucified is
my message. Christ crucified is my message. Christ crucified is the message
of all the counsel of God. It is the message of everything
revealed in Holy Scripture. Jesus Christ and him crucified. And since by faith I saw the
stream, thy flowing wounds supply, redeeming love has been my theme. And God helping me, it shall
be till I die. Redemption through His blood. That's the one thing you must
have. Redemption through His blood. Do you possess redemption? Is redemption yours? Is this
something you hold in the hand of faith? Or do you have nothing
but a little religious experience, a little religious notion, little
religious ideas? Redemption we must have. Let
me show you six things in this verse of scripture. You just
stay right here We'll look at some others along the way, but
I want to show you six things here In whom we have redemption through
his blood the forgiveness of sins According to the riches
of his grace All right. Let's look at the first two words
in whom? Here is the one who purchased
redemption for us the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God in whom
all the blessings of God's free grace for time and eternity Are
in Christ if you haven't done it as I've told you many times
here in this first chapter of Ephesians Mark the words in him
in Christ of that kind in this first chapter 14 times In this
first chapter, 14 times, God the Holy Spirit tells us that
everything God has for sinners is in Christ. It's not in the
church. It's not in your creed. It's
not in your theological system. It's not in your knowledge. Everything
God has for sinners is in Christ. If you would have God's mercy,
you must have it in Christ. If you would have life, you must
have it in Christ. It's nowhere else to be found.
Christ is that one in whom we have redemption. He was called
and appointed to be our Redeemer in eternity in the covenant of
grace. And read the 40th Psalm, you
will see that he freely, voluntarily gave himself to this work. In
the fullness of time, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman,
made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law,
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit, that we might
receive redemption in the experience of grace by the call of his Spirit.
Turn to Hebrews chapter 2. I want you to see that Christ
Jesus is indeed that kinsman Redeemer of whom Boaz was a type
and of whom the law of the kinsman Redeemer spoke. Ephesians chapter
2. Christ is our near kinsman. He has the right and the ability
to redeem and he's willing to redeem. He proved his willingness
by coming here in our flesh He proved his willingness by taking
up our cause. He proved his willingness by
dying in our stead now look at verse 9 hebrews chapter 2 We
see jesus Who was made a little lower than the angels? for the
suffering of death crowned with glory and honor That he by the
grace of god should taste death for every man Now don't let those
two words, every man, shock you or confuse you. For one thing,
the word man, you will not find it in any of the original Greek
text anywhere. It's not there. The sentence
literally should read that he, by the grace of God, takes death
for every. But read it smoothly as our translators
gave it for every man, for every man of whom he is speaking right
here in Hebrew chapter two. Every son, every child of Abraham,
all that he brings to glory, everyone in the congregation.
He came here, made a little lower than the angels for this purpose,
for the suffering of death. He now is crowned with glory
and honor that he, by the grace of God, should taste death for
every man. Let's see who they are. For it
became him for whom were all things and by whom were all things
in bringing many sons to glory. That's those every man, every
man, those many sons to glory, to make the captain of their
salvation perfect through sufferings. Verse 11, for both he that sanctified
and they were sanctified. That's the ones for whom he tasted
death are all of one. For which cause he is not ashamed
to call them brethren, saying, I will declare thy name unto
my brethren in the midst of the church while I sing praise unto
thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, behold,
I and the children which God has given me. For as much then
as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself
likewise took part of the same, since we were flesh and blood. He became flesh and blood for
this purpose that through death He might destroy him that had
power of death. That is the devil verse 15 and
Deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage now watch this For verily he took not on
him the nature of angels But it took on him the seed of Adam. I Does anybody have a Bible reads
like that? You'll notice, uh, when we're saying that him amazing
love, he died for all Adams Adams race. No, no, no, no, no. We
changed the words. He died for all his race because
he didn't take on him. Adam's seed. He didn't take on
him the seed of every man. He took on him the seed of Abraham,
the covenant head. took on him the seed of God's
elect. All right. With his own blood,
we're told he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained
this redemption for us. Back here in Ephesians 1-7. This
redemption through his blood, he obtained when he entered into
glory. He bought that throne on which
he sits. He bought that throne on which
he sits. But Brother Don, he's God, it's
his throne. Yes, but he bought it as a man. He bought the right
to rule over all flesh that he might give eternal life to as
many as the Father has given him. He bought the right to dispose
of this world as he will for the saving of his people as a
man. He's seated on a blood-bought
throne. Our Savior obtained redemption
when He entered into heaven with His blood. Redemption then is
His. He did it. He obtained it. He owns it. He can give it to
whom He will. It resides in Him. There is no
redemption for your soul except in Him. You cannot be redeemed
except you have life in him. He is made of God and to us redemption,
the apostle says. Of him are ye in Christ Jesus,
who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification
and redemption. All God's salvation is in and
by Christ. Do you understand this? Why? That according as it is written,
he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. We will never appreciate
the greatness of redemption until we have some appreciation of
the greatness of the Redeemer. He says, I am thy Redeemer. The Lord of Hosts is his name,
the Holy One of Israel. Fear not, Jacob, for I, the Lord
of Hosts, fear not, Jacob, for I, the Rock of Israel, fear not,
Jacob, for I, the Holy One of Israel, have redeemed thee. I've called thee by thy name,
thou art mine. If Christ has redeemed you, if Christ has redeemed you, you
never have any reason to fear anything. Is that what he said? Fear not, Jacob, for I have redeemed
thee. I have redeemed thee. Well, Brother
Donovan, if that's the case, all this stuff about universal
redemptions, universal nonsense, you got it. All right, let's
look at the second thing. In whom we have redemption through
his blood, we, we. The objects of redemption are
God's elect. The we who are actually redeemed
by his blood. Everywhere the Bible speaks about
redemption. Everywhere this book speaks about
redemption. It speaks of it as the effectual
work of Christ accomplished for a specific people called in this
book, God's elect. Everywhere this book speaks about
redemption. It speaks of it as the effectual
accomplished work of Jesus Christ for a specific people called
God's elect. For the transgression of my people
was he stricken. Turn to Revelation chapter 5.
It pleased the Lord to bruise him. He hath put him to grief. When thou shalt make his soul
an offering for sin, he shall see his seed. He shall prolong
his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his
head. He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied. Look in Revelation chapter 5
verse 9. They sing the song of praise to the lamb. And this
is how they sing. They sung a new song saying,
thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof.
They said, Lord, oh, blessed name of God, you're worthy to
take the book of God's decrees and open the seals and fulfill
all things in providence for thou wast slain. and hast redeemed
us to God by thy blood out of every kindred and tongue and
people and nation. Not along with, out of, out of. To redeem is to purchase out
of every nation, kindred, tribe, and tongue. Again, the analogy
of the pawn shop. There are numerous words used
for redeemed in scripture. Three words in specific in the
New Testament. One has the idea of paying for something and taking
possession of it. You purchased a house. Most of
you have. When you purchased the house,
you bought it. It's yours. You've got the deed
to it. But not often are you going to
move it. Some folks do. Not often. Well,
what do you do with it? You have purchased it. It's yours. It's your possession. You can
burn it down. You can move it, whatever you
want to, or you can move in it. But it's yours. It's your property.
That word is used for redeem. Sometimes the word redeem means
to loose, to set free. You purchase a slave and you
set the slave free. That's the way the word's used.
But the most common form of the word means to buy out of. As you would go to the pawn shop
and buy a previously owned possession and take possession of it and
carry it out of the pawn shop. So it is that Christ has redeemed
us. Out of every nation, kindred,
tribe, and tongue. Out from under the curse of the
law. Out of the bondage of sin and Satan. Out of the grips of
hell. He's redeemed us out of death
into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Who are these
redeemed ones? Who are these we? Paul names
them right here in Ephesians 1. We All who are blessed in verse
3. All who were chosen in Christ
before the world began, verse 4. All who are predestined unto
the adoption of children, in verse 5. All who are accepted
in the beloved, in verse 6. All who are forgiven of all sin,
in verse 7. All who have obtained an inheritance,
in verse 8, verse 11. All who have faith in Christ,
in verse 13. All who are sealed by God the
Holy Spirit. These are the redeemed. Now,
here's the third thing. Paul shows us the fact of redemption.
We have. In whom we have redemption through
his blood. This vast work of redemption
is here spoken of as a thing possessed. We have redemption. Yes, we were redeemed by the
blood of the lamb before the foundation of the world. Yes,
Christ finished the work of redemption when he cried, it is finished
in John chapter 19 verse 30. Yes, he obtained redemption for
us when entered into glory and obtained it with his blood. And
now we've obtained it. It's our possession. We hold
it. It's ours as much as it's His. It's ours as truly as it's His. It's His by right of blood atonement. And it's ours by right of blood
atonement. It's his because he purchased
it. It's ours because he bestowed
it upon us and gave it to us. Redemption. This is a work which
every believer has in the hands of faith. This is a work, a gift
of God, a marvelous thing that every believing sinner, oh, if
God gives you faith in Christ and right now you believe on
his son, redemption is yours. The whole of it is yours, as
surely as it shall be when you're seated with Christ in heaven
itself. This work of redemption has vast,
vast dimensions. It reaches through all time and
through all eternity. It's vital in the experience
of God's elect. There's no life without it. What
an unspeakable word it is. Redemption is the present everlasting
possession of every believer. I've been redeemed. That means
I'm freed from sin. Being then made free from sin,
he became the servants of righteousness. Freed from its guilt, its penalty,
and its power. Freed from sin. Christ came to
take away our sins. And in him is no sin. Being freed by Christ's blood,
I'm freed from Satan. freed from his grip, freed from
his power, so that Satan... Sometimes I'm reluctant to say
things that just came to me. Satan came to our Lord Jesus
and found nothing in Him. Found nothing in Him. And while
Satan would accuse and condemn, he is the accuser of the brethren.
I'm in Christ and he can't find anything in me. God won't hear him. God says,
have you considered my servant, Don? There's none like him in
all the earth, perfect and upright, one that fears God and discuses
evil. That's what God says about Larry
Braham. Carol might not, but God does. And Don might not,
but God does. And Larry sure wouldn't, but
God does. You got that? Freed from Satan. In Christ Jesus, being redeemed,
we're freed from the law. Freed from the law. Now, I won't
spend much time here, because none of you folks here would
Try to throw this back in my face, but some folks are going
to hear the message and say, oh, you can't just say that. Well, let's try it again. Freed
from the law. I mean, totally, absolutely free. I mean, the law has nothing to
say to me. The law has nothing to do with
me. The law can't touch me. The law can't condemn me. The
law can't motivate me. The law can't constrain me. The
law is for the lawless. I have fulfilled the law in my
Redeemer. I'm free. It's called dead to
the law. Dead to the law by the body of
Christ. Paul uses the illustration if
a woman is married to another while her husband lives, she
should be called an adulteress. But if her husband's dead, Now,
I know some of you dear old ladies and men, you think, well, he
ought not to have done that. It's too quick. Not too quick.
Listen. Now, listen to me. Listen to
me. If I drop dead before I get done preaching and Shelby gets
married tomorrow, that's all right. That's all right. I know
she's not likely to. Of course, you're going to find
another one like me. But if I if I should drop dead, she got married
tomorrow. That's all right. That's all right. She's free
from me. She's free from me. And if she
should marry another one, she'd be real smart never to say to
him, Don did, or Don said. She'd be real smart never to
do that. Never do that. Because she has no more obligation
to the dead man. And you are dead to the law if
you're in Christ Jesus. Christ died in our stead, and
we died in him. Well, Brother Don, that sounds
like The law has no place in the believer's life, doesn't
it though? It's called redeemed. Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse
for us, as it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a
tree. This redemption is the possession of everlasting
life. in whom we have redemption, everlasting
life. God brings redemption to the
dead sinner. And he puts it in him. And the
dead sinner lives forever. He has everlasting life. It's God's gift, not our operation. All right, the next two words.
His blood. His blood. Here's the fourth
thing. The price of redemption is His
blood, in whom we have redemption through His blood. His blood
represents His life sacrificed for sin. The life of the flesh
is in the blood. His blood is a man's blood. The reason he became a man was
that he might suffer death. He could not die for us except
he become a man. His blood, however, is more than
the blood of a man. It's the blood of an innocent,
perfectly righteous man who never knew sin. This blood is the blood
of a man who is himself God. God in the flesh. Jesus Christ
is God. That man who died in our stead
is God. That man who lived for us is
God. That means that his blood is
of infinite worth, of infinite value, of infinite efficacy to
meet all the demands of divine justice, holiness, and truth.
With his own blood, the Lord Jesus Christ, we're told, purchased
his church. And do you know how he's described
in Acts 20, 28? The church is that which is purchased
by God with his own blood. Now preacher, how could God die and not die? How could that be? God became
a man. God became a man. How could Christ
who could not sin and did not sin and knew no sin, how could
He be made sin? He was made sin that He might
redeem us. How could you be made the righteousness
of God? By a work of God alone. As it
was God who formed His holy humanity in the virgin womb. It was God
who made Him sin and it was God who made us the righteousness
of God in Him. His blood. His blood is enough in whom we have redemption through
His blood. Will you children of God lift
your hearts now to heaven? Look God face to face and ask What more can you require? His answer is, I have enough. I have enough! God has enough and he won't accept
anything else. The blood of Christ is enough. It's covenant blood. The blood
of the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world, accepted for us
from everlasting. And His blood is sprinkled blood. We won't turn there, but you
can look at it in Hebrews chapter 9. The Lord Jesus entered into heaven
and Sprinkled his blood on the mercy seat and obtained redemption
for us and the Lord Jesus it is into the hearts of chosen
sinners by the power of his spirit and Sprinkles his blood on the
conscience so that believing on the Son of God God testifies
to you enough I have it up and Justice is satisfied. Sin is
put away. Oh, now I sing blessed. Blessed
is the man unto whom God imputeth not iniquity. And his blood is
assuring blood. That same ninth chapter of Hebrews.
Let's draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. In full assurance of faith. Come to God with full assurance. How can you do that? In whom
we have redemption through his blood. You got that? Come to
God by the blood of Christ and God will not and cannot turn
you away. He says so. He says, him that
cometh to me, I will know why is cast out. Now, here's the
fifth thing. The forgiveness of sins. That's
the result of redemption. Wherever there is redemption
through his blood, there is the forgiveness of sin. There is
no forgiveness without blood redemption. And there is no blood
redemption without forgiveness. If Jesus Christ died for all
men, then hell must be vacated. If Jesus Christ died for all
men, no man shall ever suffer anything for his sins. Well,
that's absurd, Brother Don. It certainly is. Where there
is redemption through his blood, there is the forgiveness of sins.
The forgiveness is obtained by his blood from everlasting as
the lamb accepted on our behalf. The forgiveness is obtained by
blood of redemption when he with his own blood entered in once
into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. And
the forgiveness is obtained by faith in Jesus Christ, obtained
by God's own gift of faith, obtained by the blood of Christ being
sprinkled on your conscience, purging you from your dead works,
that you might stand before God free, redeemed, justified, forgiven
forever with full assurance of acceptance with God. This forgiveness
When Christ was made sin for us, God punished him. He slaughtered his son. God drew
out a sword and said, Kill him! Smite the shepherd! He who has
made sin must die! And die he did! And God buried
him in the ground. And three days later, We're told
by the Apostle Paul, he was justified in the Spirit. God the Holy Spirit
quickened his slain body, and he who died because of sin is
raised up from the dead, free from sin! And all who are in him are free
from sin, in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness
of sin. And I gotta quit, but here's
another message. According to the riches. The riches. The riches of His
grace. In whom we have redemption through
His blood. The forgiveness of sins according
to According to. Isn't that wonderful? According
to. According to the riches of His
grace. Amen.
