Hebrews chapter 3, and then I
want you also to find Numbers chapter 13. We are going to look tonight at the
children of Israel right on the border of the land of Cana, the
land of promise. They were at a place called Kadesh
Barnea. And that's on the southern borders
of the land of Palestine. They were ready to enter the
land that God had promised them. One thing kept them out. That's
what I want us to look at this afternoon. The apostle here,
in writing in the book of Hebrews, makes mention of this incident
that took place in the lives of the children of Israel at
this time. Getting right to the land of promise and then not
going in, and having to go back in the wilderness for 40 years
until all of them had died but two. All their children went
into the land of promise. And the writer of the book of
Hebrews is going to tell us here why they could not enter the
land. Let's look at it in chapter 3
of Hebrews, and let's begin reading verse 12. Hebrews chapter 3 and
verse 12. lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God. But exhort
one another daily, while it is called today, lest any of you
be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." Sin deceives us, sin
hardens our hearts. For we are made partakers of
Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto
the end. While it is said today, if you
will hear His voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation,
as in the rebellion, for some, when they had heard, did provoke.
Howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses, but with whom
was God greed forty years? Was it not with them that had
sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? And to whom
swore He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them
that believed not? So we see that they could not
enter in because of unbelief. Therefore, let us fear, lest
the promise been left us of entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it. Look in verse 3. For we which
have believed do enter into rest, as he had said before, as I have
sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest, although
their works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Now look down in verse 10. For he that is entered into his
rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from
his. Let us labor, therefore, to enter
into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of
unbelief. Look at one more scripture before
we go to our text. Look in 1 Corinthians chapter
10 in verse 11. 1 Corinthians 10. The Apostle Paul
here was speaking about the children of Israel wandering in the wilderness. And he says here in verse 6,
look at 1 Corinthians 10. Now these things, these people,
what they did, what they didn't do, their faith and unbelief,
now these things were our examples to the intent that we should
not lust after evil things as they also lusted. Look in verse
11. Now all these things happened
unto them for examples, and they are written for our admonition,
our teaching, our warning, upon whom the ends of the earth are
come. Now let's turn to our text over
in Numbers chapter 13. And let's look at this, and I'll
try to be as brief with it as I can. Look here in Numbers 13,
beginning here in verses 1-3. We are told what Moses instructed
the children of Israel to do. Do you find it? Numbers 13, verse
1. And the Lord spake unto Moses,
saying, Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan,
the land of promise, which I give unto the children of Israel,
Of every tribe of their father shall ye send a man, every one
a ruler among them. And Moses, by the commandment
of the Lord, sent them from the wilderness of Paran. All those
men were heads of the children of Israel." Now look here in
verse 17, "...And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan,
and said unto them, Get you up this way southward." Get up from
the south, go into the south of the country, south of Canaan.
and go up into the mountain and see the land, what it is, and
the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak,
few or many, and what the land is that they dwell in, whether
it be good or bad, and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether
they be tents or in strongholds, and what the land is, whether
it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein or not, And be
of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the
time was the time of first-ripe grapes." They went up into the
land, and we're told in verse 23, and I want you to see this.
This tells us something of what kind of land it was. And they
came into the brook of Eskro, and cut down from bents a branch
with one cluster of grapes, and they buried between two upon
a staff. and they brought of the pomegranates
and of the figs. The place was called the Book
of Esther because of the cluster of grapes when the children of
Israel cut down from the fence. And they returned from the searching
of the land after forty days, and they went and came unto Moses
and to Aaron and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and
to the wilderness of Paran to Kadesh, and brought back word
unto them and all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of
the land. And they told him and said, We
came into the land where you sent us, and surely it flowed
with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it." Now, we
begin our text here in verse 28. Nevertheless, the people
be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and
very great And moreover, we saw the children of Anak, the giants,
there in the land. The Amalekites dwelt in the land
of the south. The Hittites, the Jebusites,
Amorites dwelt in the mountains. And the Canaanites dwelt by the
sea and by the coast of Jordan." Now, boy, they'd went all over
the land. They brought back the fruit. They told them what tribes
lived were and ruled in the land of Cana. They went from the south
all the way to the north and searched the land all the way
up. These twelve men had. And Caleb steeled the people,
in verse 30, before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and
possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that
went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the
people, for they are stronger than we. And they brought up
an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children
of Israel, saying, The land through which we have gone to search
it is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof, and all
the people that we saw are men of great stature. And there we
saw the giants, the son of Anak, which came of the giants, and
we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Now in verse chapter 14, and
the congregation lifted up their voice and cried, and the people
wept that night. And all the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and against Aaron, and the whole congregation
said unto them, Would to God we had died in the land of Egypt,
or would God we had died in the wilderness, wherefore hath the
Lord brought us into this land to fall by the sword, that our
wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better
for us to return unto Egypt, And they said one to another,
Let us make a captain, and let us return unto Egypt. And then
in verse 6, Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jacob,
which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes,
and they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying,
The land which we pass through to search it is not an exceeding
good land. If the Lord delight in us, then
he will bring us into this land, and give it us, a land which
flows with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the
Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land, for they are bred
for us, their defense is departed from them. The Lord God is with
us, fear them not." Now you go on reading, and I won't read
any more, but most of you read this story. The next day, the Lord appeared
to Moses and said, Tell them it's too late. They can't go
in now. And He says, You take them back
and let them go back in the wilderness for forty years. Every day they
search the land out. I'm going to make them pay for
a year. Those ten men that brought back the bad report, they died
immediately with the plague. And He told Moses, You say I
brought your children out here to slay them? You're the ones
that's going to die. I'm going to take your children
40 years from now into the land of Canaan. So that's what happened.
So they went up and said, we'll go up. We'll go up. Moses said,
don't you go up now. It's too late now. They said,
no, we're going up to take the land. So they went up. And the
Amalekites and the Canaanites came down and destroyed a whole
bunch of them. So this is what we want to look
at tonight. The writer of Hebrews tells us
plainly here why they could not enter the land. They could not
enter the cause of unbelief. You know, I've always marveled
when I've read that. He didn't say they did not enter,
but they could not enter. They could not enter. There's
but one way to be saved. There's but one way to be justified. There's but one way to walk and
live in this world and enter glory. And that's by faith, isn't
it? Without faith it's impossible to please God. You cannot be
saved apart from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the
way He saves us, by faith. So this story is here about faith
as opposed to unbelief. It's an example of faith in God,
faith in a covenant God, faith in the Son of God, faith in the
Gospel, faith in the promises of God as opposed to unbelief. entering the land through faith
or wandering about in the wilderness until they died through unbelief
for forty years. Now look here at the attitude
of faith. Here's the attitude of faith in chapter 13 and verse
30. Here's faith's attitude. And
Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, Let us go up
at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. Now that's faith speaking, isn't
it? That's faith's attitude. We are well able to overcome
it. With God, all things are possible. I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me. That's the language of faith.
We are well able to overcome it. Yes, there's going to be
some overcoming. There's going to be some enemies
to face. But we are well able to overcome it. What about faith? What about unbelief? That's faith.
What about unbelief? Well, we're told about unbelief
in verse 31 of chapter 13. But the men that went up with
him said, We be not able to go up against this people. They
be stronger than we. We can't cross the Jordan. What's
that? That's the language of unbelief,
isn't it? We can't take these houses already
built. We can't gather the fruit from
the vineyards already planted. We can't. We can. That's the
language of faith. Faith says we can. Unbelief says
we cannot. What does faith rest upon? What's
faith's foundation? Well, look in chapter 14 and
look in verse 7. Here's faith's foundation. I love this. In verse 7 and verse
8, look at this. And here's what Caleb the man
of faith, and Joshua the man of faith, spake unto the company
of Israel, and said, The land which we pass through to search
it is not exceeding what great land. If the Lord delight in
us, then he will bring us into the land, and give it us a land
that floweth with milk and with honey." What's faith's foundation? It's based upon God, isn't it? If God delight in us, If He loves
us, if He cares about us, if He has promised the land to us,
He will fulfill His promise. That is what faith is based upon.
Who is God? What has God promised? Does God
love His people? Does He care for His people?
Has He promised them certain things? Then faith lays hold
of this. This is the language of faith.
If God delight in us, then He will bring us to the land. which
he gave to us, a lamb flowing with milk and honey. Only rebel
not against the Lord, neither fear the people of the land. The Lord is with us, fear them
not." That's the foundation that faith rests upon. Who God is
and how His love is for His people. What He'll do for them. What
about unbelief? What does it rest upon? Well,
we're told that in verse 28, chapter 13. Look back up in 13. I want you to see this. This
is what unbelief says, and this is what unbelief is based upon.
Nevertheless, the people be strong that dwell in the land. And the
cities are walled and very great, and moreover, we saw the children
of Anilac there. And in verse 32 and verse 33,
They said that we're in their sight as grasshoppers. Now, what does faith rest upon?
Faith rests upon and faith looks at the difficulties, doesn't
it? I mean, unbelief looks at the difficulties. Faith looks
to God. Faith looks beyond the difficulties,
above the difficulties. They see a covenant God, a faithful
God. Unbelief looks at the walled
city. Unbelief looks at the height
and strength of the people. And that's all. That's all. It
looks and it's difficult. Unbelief sees only the difficulties
and says, we're not able. Faith sees God only and says,
we're able. Unbelief sees only the people
and says, they're too strong. Faith looks beyond the people
and says, God is stronger. Unbelief sees how high the walls
is and says they're too high. But faith looks above the walls
and says God is higher than the walls. Unbelief looks at the
cities and says they're too great. But faith looks only at God and
says He's greater. See the difference? See the difference
between unbelief? It looks only at the difficulties. Faith looks above the difficulties,
beyond the difficulties, and says, yes, we can. Why? Because faith looks to God. Faith
looks above. Faith looks beyond the difficulties.
Unbelief looks only at the difficulties and says, we'd be not able. Faith
looks beyond its difficulties to a gracious God, a covenant
God, a promising God, a loving God in Christ, and says, yes,
we'd be well able. We be well able. Through Christ,
we can do all things. With God, all things are possible. Here's one of the chief characteristics
of unbelief. This is the way you can always
identify unbelief in your heart. It'll never fail. You remember
this, and you'll always identify unbelief in your heart, and it
always shows itself when you face your troubles and when you
face your difficulties. It always shuts out God from
the equation. It always shuts out God from
the equation. It refuses to consider who God
is, what He's promised, and His love for you. Now, that's the
way faith will identify itself. And when it is done, when it
is done that, I'll tell you what your attitude will be. When you
concentrate on your troubles, and your heart is full of unbelief,
and it shut out God and Christ from all your grace, here's what
your attitude will be. You'll be gloomy. You'll be troubled. It'll be impossible for you to
go on. Here we see that in verse 1 of chapter 14. See what they
did? All the congregation lifted up
their voice and cried, and the people wept that night. Why did
they weep that night? Unbelief. Now, there's a good
weeping. It's good to cry over our sin,
ain't it? It's good to cry over our failure. It's good to cry
over our commitment. But I tell you, there's a bad
weeping, too. There's some bad tears, too. And that's the tears
of unbelief. Unbelief will make you sad. Unbelief
will make you gloomy. Unbelief will turn your blessings
to curses. And the reason it happens is
we refuse to bring God into the equation. And I'm telling you,
that'll make you sad. You ever experience that? Remember
when the disciples were on the road to Emmaus, and the Lord
Jesus came and was walking along with them, and He said, Why are
you so sad? Why are your faces so long? I thought you fellows were Christian.
I thought you knew the Lord. Haven't you been with Him now
for three and a half years or so? Why are you so sad? Well, he answered that question
for them, didn't he? Remember what he answered? He
got pretty rough with them when he did, too. See, our Lord is
grieved by our unbelief. And here's what he said to them.
Old fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets
have spoken to you. Here's your trouble. Here's why
you're sad. Here's why you're gloomy. Here's
why you find it impossible to go on and face the difficulties
and the trouble. fools and slow of heart to believe.
They could not enter because of unbelief. The only way to
get into the land of Canaan is facing these difficulties. You
have to go through these difficulties. You have to face these enemies.
You have to face these walled cities. But the only way you
can do that is through faith. Through faith. The chief characteristic. It always eliminates God. from the equation. Have you ever
noticed this in yourself? Look in chapter 14 of Numbers
in verses 2 and 3. Have you ever noticed this in
yourself? Have you ever been aggravated?
Do you ever get aggravated at the Lord? Now, I'm not asking
you to raise your hand, but let every man examine his own conscience.
Have you ever felt rebellion rising up in your heart against
the providence of God? You just don't like where he's
leading you, you don't like where he's taking you, you don't even
understand it, but you know, boy, this heart rises up in enmity
against God. You ever felt that in yourself?
I'll tell you when you'll feel it, when unbelief is rampant.
Here they said in verse 2 and verse 3, they murmured against
Moses, they murmured against Aaron, and then they said, would
to God we had died down in Egypt, let us, appoint us a captain
and go back down there where we were before. Enmity, hatefulness,
rising up against the Lord. I tell you, I don't know of a
saint that hasn't felt that. But I tell you why we feel it.
Our unbelief. It's unbelief. They could not
enter in the cause of unbelief. But as soon as you begin to consider
the Lord, as soon as you bring Him into the equation, as soon
as we look to Him and beyond all our difficulties, all is
bright, all is easy, and you feel like in your heart, I am
willing to go up. I'm able to face a body of sin,
I'm able to face the devil and all his fallen angels. And as
soon as you look to the Lord, that's when everything changes.
When you bring Him and His power and His goodness and His faithfulness
and His love into the equation, immediately things change. I'm not saying we don't have
difficulties. We do. And I'm not saying we don't consider
our difficulties. We do that too. But no difficulty
is greater than our covenant with God. And no problem we face
in this life is greater than the love of God which is in Christ
Jesus the Lord. I tell you the only difference
in these people, unbelief and faith. One time, faith is reigning. Next time unbelief is ready.
Old chapter 14 there for a minute. Look back at Exodus. Look at
Exodus chapter 15. Look at this right quickly. Look
in verse 13. Here's a perfect example of these
same people. And look at them here in verse
13 of Exodus 15. They just crossed the depths of this Red Sea. The
Lord said, Stand still. See the salvation of the Lord.
And they stood still and watched the Red Sea part. And look what
he said in verse 13. Here is faith speaking. Thou in thy mercy hast led forth
the people which thou hast redeemed. Thou hast guided them in thy
strength unto thy holy habitation. The people shall hear and be
afraid. Sorrow shall take hold of the
inhabitants of Palestinia. There in the land of Canaan.
Then the dukes of Eden shall be amazed, the mighty men of
Moab shall tremble, and trembling shall take hold upon them, and
the inhabitants of the land of Canaan shall melt away. They
said, boys, we're coming, and those guys have heard we're coming,
and they're shaking in their boots. Their knees are knocking,
their hearts are full of sorrow, because they know God has given
us the land. Verse 16, Fear and dread shall
fall upon them. By the greatness of thine arm
they shall be as still as a stone, till the people have passed over,
O Lord, till the people have passed over which thou hast purchased. Thou shalt bring them in and
plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place,
O Lord, which thou shalt make for thee to dwell in, in the
sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hand has established. The Lord
shall reign forever and ever. Now, what was the difference
in here and in our text that we've been reading? Here, they'd
look beyond all of their difficulties, all of their supposed impossibilities,
and their eyes were on the Lord. You can tell that. They were
worshiping Him. They were praising Him. They
were giving thanks unto Him for His sovereignty and His redemption.
What about in Numbers 13 and 14? What would they do? Their
eyes were on their difficulties, and that's all. That's all. That was the difference. And
all they had to do in Numbers is the same thing they did in
Exodus 15, introduce the Lord into the equation, and all of
their difficulties would have vanished. And all the reasonings
of unbelief would have crumbled in dust at the Lord's feet."
And brothers and sisters, it's as simple as that. It's as simple
as that. We can complicate this business
if we want to, but it's as simple as this. Unbelief will fill you
with sorrow. It will fill you with dread.
It will reverse the roles. The enemies are trembling. Satan
and his fallen angels are full of sorrow, because you, you are
living by faith in the living Christ. But when unbelief begins
to reign, what happens? Who's full of dread now? Who's
full of sorrow now? Who trembles now? It's me. It's me. The roles are reversed
with these people. But the only reason is, here,
they have looked beyond their difficulties to a faithful God
who had promised. Over there, they just look to
their difficulty. We face difficulties. I repeat
that. We'll face difficulties. But
get your eye on your difficulties. I don't care what they are. And
keep your eyes centered and your thoughts centered upon how bad
you're having it. I'm telling you, you're going
to get down. You're going to spend some nights with your head
on your pillow, weeping, sobbing, and you won't be fit to Keep
company with yourself, let alone dear saints of God. And it's
all because of unbelief. You say, oh, it's this or it's
that. I'm telling you it's unbelief. Oh, if it wasn't for this sin,
if it wasn't for that weight, we're always going to have sins.
We're always going to have to contend with these weights. We'll
spend our lifetime laying aside weights and sins. It's not about
that. It wasn't about some sins that
they were committing. It was unbelief. Blatant unbelief. That's all it is about. Unbelief kept Israel out of the
land of promise for 40 years. Unbelief kept them out of the
land of promise. They went wandering for 40 years.
Kept them wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Everything they
could have gained but didn't was because of unbelief. The
things that they had and lost was because of unbelief. The
land of milk and honey was theirs, but it had to be entered through
much difficulty. And faith is the only way you
can overcome these difficulties. You and I as believers, we've
been given that eternal inheritance. We've been given that. The Bible
even says it's reserved in heaven for us. a heavenly country. God has prepared for them a heavenly
country. As wonderful as it seems, that's
what He's been giving you. That's what He's given you if
you believe Him. If you're a believer in Jesus Christ tonight, that's
reserved for you. We have some spies, as it were,
that have come and told us something about this land, haven't we?
We're told it's a land of comfort. We know a fellow who went there,
and the report about him, he is now comforted. We're told
time and time again that those who go there, they rest from
their labors. It's a land of comfort. It's
a land of rest. It's a land where Jesus Christ
will keep company personally with those who go there. I have
a desire to depart to be with Christ, which is far better. That's a good land, ain't it?
We're told that it's a land where no tears are. There's no sorrow. There's no pain. There's no death.
All of these things that we suffer here have passed away. But between
us and there are tribulations. Between us and there, there are
enemies that have to be overcome. And the only way we can overcome
is through faith. Whosoever is born of God overcometh
the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even
our faith. Faith in Christ. Israel finally
made it to the land of promise. It took 40 years for unbelief
to die in the world. But it died. It died. And you
and I are plagued with it, aren't we? We're plagued with unbelief,
but someday unbelief will die. Faith will get the victory, the
complete victory. But as Israel, and this is what
I want to emphasize tonight, but as Israel, as a nation lost
so much. They lost so much because of
their unbelief. If we're not careful, you and
I will lose so much because of our unbelief. You believe that we might lose
our assurance? Unbelief will strip you of your
assurance. Unbelief hasn't rested for one moment in Jesus Christ,
and it never will. Unbelief has never had one ounce
of peace of heart that God gives to His people. Unbelief's never
done one thing that was pleasing to God. It's only faith that
does these things. So many blessings, the joy and
the peace and the confidence. If we're not careful, through
unbelief we can lose soul, Many things. The Bible says here they brought
back some fruit of the land. Boy, it's something. It's something how blatant unbelief
is, ain't it? Moses said, I want you to bring
some fruit back now. And you know why he did that.
He knew some folks here were unbelieving. And he said, I want
you to bring back some fruit. Moses knew what this land was
like. The Lord already told it. I think it's in Deuteronomy chapter
8 if you want to read it sometime. You talk about a land. He gives
a description of it. Moses wanted them to bring back
some of this fruit so these people could see it and taste it. And it would strengthen their
faith. They had evidence of it. Glenn's got a grape harbor. He did have a grape harbor there
in your yard. one cluster of grapes and hold
it in your hand real easy. Can you imagine cutting down
one cluster of grapes and it was so heavy and so big that
they had to pull through it and carry it on two men's shoulders? One cluster? That's a beautiful,
rich country. And they saw it. They tasted
it. But look how blatant unbelief
is. We can't go there. We can't go. We can't make it. You and I have seen some fruits
and we've tasted some things from heaven, have we not? We
have in our souls. Haven't we tasted something of
the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ? Haven't we had a glance of that
fountain open for sin and uncleanness? Haven't you seen in your conscience
your sin taken away in the blood of Christ? Haven't you seen that?
That's fruit from heaven. Haven't you and I felt something
of the power of God's grace in our hearts, delivering us from
the kingdom of darkness? Haven't we felt something of
the love of God shed abroad in our hearts? Haven't we tasted
something of a new creature which is in Christ Jesus? Are you not
now something that you were not before? Don't you have a knowledge
of Jesus Christ now that you never had before? What is that?
What is that excellent knowledge but a foretaste of heaven divine? It's a foretaste of that country
from whence you and I are going. And who gave you that? God gave
you that. God gave you that. If He hadn't delighted in us,
do you think He would have ever called us out of darkness into
His life? Did He ever call anybody and
save anybody and reveal Christ to anybody that He didn't love? Why does He give you His Spirit
crying, Father, Father? Don't you cry that in your heart.
Sometimes when you're alone, don't you ever cry, Father, Father? You think He would give you His
Spirit if He didn't delight in you? You think He hates you? You think God is angry with you?
You think He's brought you this far because He hates you? And
He's going to get you out there and forsake you and destroy you?
That's what they thought. What is it that begins to think
that? Unbelief. But Caleb, the man of faith,
said, Look at us. How could we deny God's love
for us? He's brought us out of bondage.
He's opened up the cleft of the rock and give us to drink. He
sent us manna from heaven to eat. He sustained us. Why would
He do that if He didn't delight in us? I know as awesome as it
seems, brothers and sisters, here we sit in these wretched,
sinful bodies and we're so miserable and unworthy in ourselves. And
this is an awesome thing to think that the eternal triune God delights
in us. That He loves us. But we have
evidence from His Word. We have evidence in our hearts
that He does. And you can't deny it, can you?
Glenn, can you deny He loves you? Do you love Him? Do you love Him, Wanda? Then
why do you love Him? Because He loves you. Why do
you delight in Him? Don't you delight in Jesus Christ?
Don't you delight in who He is and what He is and where He is
and what He's done? Don't sometimes your heart just
want to burst with just love and appreciation and adoration
for Him? Oh, you have those times. Why
do you have those times? Because He's first delighted
in you. We can't deny that, can we? But unbelief will. That's how blatant it is. It
denies plain evidence. Here those fruits are. And they
saw those fruits. Unbelievable what a curse it
is. Oh, if you are here tonight and you are unsaved, give up
yourself to Jesus Christ the Savior. Ask Him to give you grace
to believe Him. That is all you need. Grace to
believe Him. Lord, give me grace to believe
Him. If you are a believer, then take Caleb for your example.
Above all your difficulties, above all your trials, above
all your hard troubles, look above it all to a God who is
sovereign, a God who is a promising God, a God who is a faithful
God. You may be in the side of your
troubles and your difficulties as a grasshopper. That may be
how large your difficulties are. You may be like a grasshopper.
But what are your troubles in the sight of God? They're nothing. They're grasshoppers in His sight. Look beyond your difficulties,
dear soul. And I just about bet you this,
as soon as you look above your difficulties, you'll see God
is greater than all. With man, this is impossible.
But with God, all things are possible. And, O Caleb, Wayne
told us about Henry Brother Mayhem's website. On there he's got his
New Testament eyes and he's got a study about Caleb the faithful
dog. I was looking at that. Caleb
the faithful dog. You know something? This man
went into the land of Canaan and he was 80 years old. 80 years
old. Was he 80 or 120? He was an old
man. And he said, he went up to Joshua,
and he said, Joshua, do you remember when me and you 40 years ago
went and looked at this place? And the Lord said to me and you,
you're the only two going over, and I'm going to give you some
land. And he said, here, I'm an old man. My hearing's not
abated. My eyes are as strong as they
ever were. I'm ready to go take that land. And he went and took
it. I tell you, you can be happy
It'll be much easier as a young man and an old man when we live
by faith. But if we move the Lord out of
the equation, I'm telling you, it don't matter if we're young
and strong or old and weak. We can't go, can we? We can't
go. Unbelief, we'd be not able. Faith,
we'd be well able. We'd be well able. Lord bless
His Word. Any comments?
