That was good, wasn't it? Thank
you, Aaron. Jamie, it's good to have you
with us. Aaron's wife and his two children, they're going to
be doing Disney this week, so glad it's you. Our Lord said in Matthew chapter
11, come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
of me. For I am meek and lowly in heart,
and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and
my burden is light. It's life for us because he's
already carried it. And that message was so clear,
Aaron, about that. I'm very thankful. Tom's going
to come lead us in 127 in the hardback tenor. Let's stand together. Man of sorrows, what a name! For the Son of God who came,
ruined sinners to reclaim. Hallelujah, what a Savior! Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood, Sealed my pardon with His blood. Hallelujah! What a Savior! Guilty, vile, and helpless we,
spotless Lamb of God was He. Full atonement can it be? Hallelujah! What a Savior! Lifted up was he to die. It is finished was his pride. Now in heaven exalted high. Hallelujah! What a Savior! When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransom home to bring, Then anew this song we'll sing,
Hallelujah, what a Savior! Please be seated. For a scripture reading, would
you turn to the Book of Psalms 56. Book of Psalms 56. A psalm of David pleading to
the Lord when the Philistines took him here in Gath. This is
a psalm for you and I that plead to the Lord when the enemy begins
its assault. And I'm talking about this enemy
right here on us. But preeminently, this is the
psalm of the Lord Jesus Christ, who defeated the works of the
enemy. By 2,000 years ago on the cross,
when he took your sin and my sin, he himself became an enemy
of God when God plunged his sword of justice into his heart, making
us friends of God, sons of God. So let's read this psalm together,
keeping that in mind. Pray the Lord will bless it to
our hearts, encourage us. Verse one. Be merciful unto me, O God, for
man would swallow me up. He fighting daily oppresses me. My enemies would daily swallow
me up. For they be many that fight against
me, O Thou Most High. You see, only the Lord has the
authority and the power to forgive me of my sin. I want so much
to believe Him, don't you? Fully. O Thou Most High. defeat him. Verse 3, what time
I am afraid, I will trust in thee. Fears and doubts, I'm not
talking about my circumstances or what trials come my way, I'm
talking about, Lord is this for me? Is everything that I believe
to this point, everything that you promised, is this for me?
I will trust in thee. In God I will praise His word,
that word was from the beginning, I praise His written word, but
more importantly, This is the Lord Jesus Christ. In God, in
Christ, I have put my trust. I will not fear what flesh can
do unto me. I remember Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego. Remember what he said to the
king? He said, paraphrasing, he goes, If it be so, O King, if it be
so, God can deliver me from this furnace. But if not, he will
deliver me out of thy own hand. He's God. He's God. And here's the Lord Jesus Christ
in verse five. Every day they rest my words. Oh, they twist it. All their
thoughts are against me for evil. They gather themselves together.
They hide themselves. They mark my steps when they
wait for my soul. Shall they escape my iniquity?
Lord, can we produce anything of our own hands? In thine anger
cast down thy people, O God. Thou tellest my wonderings, Lord. Put thou my tears into thy bottle. Are they not in thy book? The
quickest thing that would get the attention of our Heavenly
Father is a broken spirit and contrite heart. And when he sees
his child in trouble, he will come. and deliver them. When
I cry unto thee, then, then shall my enemies turn back. This I
know, for God is for me." You see, we know that the Lord sends
the enemies, and He's the same Lord that removes
the enemies when we cry out unto Him. Again, verse 10, In God
will I praise His word, in the Lord will I praise His word. He is a holy Christ God, and
in the Lord he is a merciful God. In God have I put my trust. I will not be afraid what man
can do unto me. It's temporal, brethren, it's
temporal, but eternity is forever. It's coming. Be of good cheer. Thy vows are upon me, O God,
in the everlasting covenant mercy. based on that covenant between
you and the Father, I will render praises unto thee. Why? Verse 13, for thou hast delivered
my soul from death. There's nothing more important
to me than that. Will not thou deliver my feet
from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the
living? That day is soon approaching, very, very soon. And in that
day, he will present us faultless and blameless before the throne
of grace. In the meantime, this morning,
I pray he would remind us by faith that we are the circumcision
who worship God in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus,
that precious treasure in this earthen vessel, and only he is
able to keep us from having any confidence in the flesh. Heavenly Father, that's our heart's
desire this morning. Lord, that you would exalt your
dear son, the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that if you do that,
if he'd be lifted up, Lord, all praise and honor and
glory would be heaped upon him, for truly he is our all in all.
Lord, deliver us from the enemy. Forgive us of our sins and our
transgression, especially the sin of unbelief. We truly want
to believe you for who you are and to rest fully in what you
say who you are. We're thankful for the proclamation
of your gospel here. We ask now you would be pleased
to do that again with our pastor. Lord, give him the power and
the ability to do so. For we ask it in Christ's name
and to his glory. Amen. Let's stand together once again.
We'll sing the hymn that's on the back of your bulletin. And
then Bri Weishi will come and bring some special music. So
let's stand together, the hymn on the back of the bulletin. The Lord of glory, moved by love,
descends in mercy from above. And he before whom angels bow,
is found a man of grief below. Such love is great, too great
for thought. Its length and breadth in vain
are sought. No tongue can tell its depth
and height. The love of Christ is infinite. But though His love no measure
knows, The Savior to His people shows, Enough to give them joy
when known, Enough to make their hearts His own. Constrained by this, they walk
with him. His love their most delightful
theme. To glorify him, hear their aim. Their hope in heaven, to praise
his name. Please be seated. ? Send it my way ? ? When sorrows
like sea billows roll ? ? Whatever I want, He hath taught
me to say ? ? It is well, it is well in my soul ? It is well with my soul. It is well, it is well in my
soul. No satanship, no trash. ? Let this blessed assurance come
true ? ? That Christ hath regarded my
helpless state ? ? And has shed His own blood for my soul ? ?
It is well, Lord ? ? With my soul ? It is well, it
is well ? With my soul ? My sin or the rest ? But on that lowest
thought ? My sin not in part but the whole He's nailed to the cross, and
I bear it no more. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
O my soul. It is well with my soul. It is well, it is well with my
soul Thy Lord is the day, and my faith shall be sight The clouds
be rolled back The trump shall resound, and
the Lord shall descend. Even so, it is well with my soul. It is well with my soul. Thank you, Bree. My sin, not
in part, but the whole, was nailed to the cross and I bear it no
more. That's the only way to be able to say it's well with
my soul. to be found in Christ. Not having your own righteousness
which is of the law, but that righteousness which is by the
faith of Jesus Christ. If you're there, if you're in
Christ, it'll be well with you. Regardless of what else the Lord
might purpose and ordain for your life, it'll be well. Would
you open your Bibles with me to Genesis chapter 39? Genesis
chapter 39. I want you and me to see the Lord Jesus Christ
as everything. Christ is all and in all. I so want the Spirit of God to
enable us by faith to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ himself
is all and in all. And my text is found in Genesis
chapter 39 verse 22, actually only the last phrase in verse
22. And whatsoever they did there, He was the doer of it. Someone has said life is short
and soon will pass and only what's done for Christ will last. I
don't believe that. Life is short and soon will pass
and only what's done by Christ will last. Whatsoever they did there, he
was the doer of it. And we know that this book is
not a history book. It's not about Joseph and Jacob. and his brothers and Potiphar
and all the events that surrounded Joseph's life here in Genesis
chapter 39 and chapter 40. This book is about Christ. In
the volume of the book, it is written of me. The Lord Jesus
Christ himself is the spirit of prophecy. When he met with
those disciples on the road to Emmaus, opened up the scriptures
to them and beginning with Moses and the Psalms and the prophets,
he expounded unto them those things concerning himself. This book is our hymn book. It's all about him. It's not
a history book. It's not a theological treatise.
It is an autobiography. It's God revealing
himself to sinners and showing them how it is that he makes
them right with himself. Joseph, I suppose, is probably
the clearest type of Christ to be found in all the Word of God.
We speak of David often. But Joseph, Rachel was barren,
unable to produce life, and God miraculously opened her womb
and she gave birth to her firstborn and called him Joseph. Jehovah
has added You and I come into this world dead in our trespasses
and sins. We are without the life of God,
and unless the Lord adds life, unless he is our life, we have
no life, in him is life, and the life is the light of men. He gives eternal life to as many
as the Father has given him. Joseph was Jacob's favored son. His brothers hated him without
a cause, and so it is with the Lord Jesus Christ, the firstborn
among many brethren, God's favored son, the one that God gave the
robe of many colors to. The robe of righteousness that
he put on the Lord Jesus Christ. And the only hope that you and
I have of standing in the presence of God is for him to give us
his righteousness. Look in chapter 37 of Genesis. And look with me at verse two,
and these are the generations of Jacob, Joseph. None of the other boys are mentioned
now for several passages. Joseph is the generation of Jacob. Joseph representing the Lord
Jesus Christ in our text. If we're not found in him, then
we're not the sons of Jacob. All the spiritual sons of Jacob
are found in the descendants of Joseph. Joseph was presumed dead when
in fact he was alive. Those disciples on the road to
Emmaus presumed the Lord Jesus Christ to be dead after God had
raised him from the dead. Joseph was sold into slavery. He was falsely accused. Joseph was the interpreter of
dreams. If the truth of the gospel is
to be revealed to the hearts of God's people, we are dependent
upon our Joseph, the Lord Jesus Christ, the one whom God has
added to reveal the truth of the gospel with us. The natural
man cannot receive the things of God. They're spiritually discerned. Joseph, after being sold into
slavery, was elevated to the prime minister of Egypt. He was given a name that was
above every name. And after having interpreted
Pharaoh's dream, he was the one who filled up the storehouses
with bread to provide life for the people during the famine.
So it is with our Joseph. He's the bread of life. He's
the one who has the keys to the storehouses. You remember when
the Egyptians came to Pharaoh and asked Pharaoh for bread,
Pharaoh said, go see Joseph. Whatever he says, he's the one
that's got the keys. He's the one that will distribute
the bread. And so the Lord Jesus Christ
gives life to as many as the father has given him. For God
has given him power over all flesh. Joseph, And when the people
came and they bought bread from Joseph, they, the scripture says,
gladly sold themselves. They sold all their property,
they sold their livestock, and then they sold themselves into
slavery to Pharaoh in order to receive bread of life. And they
did it willingly. And so it is with God's people.
When we come before the Lord Jesus Christ for life, for bread,
understanding that He must open, and what He opens no man can
shut, and what He shuts no man can open. We are completely dependent
upon the Lord Jesus Christ for all of our life. I love the story
about Joseph and his brothers when they finally came back down
to Egypt. And Joseph knew who they were
long before they knew who he was. Isn't that the way it is? And Joseph very wisely brought
them to a place of repentance before he revealed himself to
them. That story of Joseph concludes
with his brothers, you meant it for evil, but God meant it
for good, that he might give life to much people. What we did in crucifying the
Lord Jesus Christ in our hearts, which are wicked, full of, what
is that verse in Genesis chapter six that Adam, that Aaron read
earlier? Well, let's go there. I can't even quote it now. God saw that the wickedness of
man was great in the earth and that every imagination of his
heart was only evil and that continually. The evil of man
is seen expressed most clearly in our crucifying of the Lord
Jesus Christ on Calvary's cross. You meant it for evil. God meant
it for good that he might bring life to much people. Chapter 39, Potiphar, who is
described as the captain of the guard who also would have been
the keeper of the prison. Potiphar's wife tried to seduce
Joseph and he resisted her attempts and she accused him of taking
advantage of her, and Potiphar, it's clear from chapter 39 that
Potiphar knew his wife was lying, but to protect the honor of his
wife, he took Joseph and put him into prison. Isn't that the
way it is with us? to protect the honor of the wife
of the Lord Jesus Christ. The father sent his son into
this world, this same place where you and I live. Scripture says that Potiphar
saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord had made everything
he did to prosper. All that he had, he put into
the hands of Joseph. What a glorious picture of the
Lord Jesus Christ. In his condescension, in his
incarnation, he left the glories of heaven and came into the prison
of this world where you and I live. falsely accused and God caused
everything that he did to prosper and put everything into his hands. The salvation of sinners is completely
in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. And so Potiphar puts Joseph over
the charge of all the prison. And that's the context of our
verse here in verse 22. And the keeper of the prison
committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the
prison, and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. Now when we go to chapter 40,
we find that there are two individuals in particular that Joseph encounters
in prison. One is a butler and the other
is a baker. Much like Cain and Abel, the
butler being nothing more than a servant who brings the cup
to the king and a baker being one who produces works with his
hands, each of these men have a dream. In the end, the butler
is saved and the baker is killed. How often times the Lord has
given us in his word this dichotomy between two individuals. We saw
it between Cain and Abel. We see it here between the butler
and the baker. We see it described clearly in
the scriptures between Jacob and Esau. Jacob I have loved. And he saw, I have hated. God's chosen versus the reprobate. Those who are under the law and
those who are under grace. We see it in the two thieves
on the cross, don't we? I heard a man talking about those
two thieves on the cross recently and he called one the good thief. The good thief. That's the reason
God saved, because one was a good... The scripture actually tells
us that both those men were not only thieves, but they were murderers.
The good murderer. God had mercy on one. He chose
one. He overlooked the other. He allowed
the other to suffer the consequences. Who maketh thee to differ? Everything
that's going to happen in this prison, the scripture says that
Joseph is the doer in it. The truth is you're either in
Christ or you're not in Christ. You either have an advocate with
the Father or you're on your own to defend yourself and you
have no defense. There's only two people in the
world. Those who are the children of
God. and those are not. Contrary to what some people
believe, there is no purgatory. There is a heaven to be gained
through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and there is a
hell to suffer for all eternity. Whatsoever they did there, He
was the doer of it. If God's enabled you to be made
a sinner, He was the doer of that. You didn't make yourself
a sinner any more than Job finally came to that conclusion that
I am vile. Any more than Isaiah was able
to say, Woe is me, for I am undone. Or the Apostle Paul was able
to say, In me, that is in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing. God has to make a person a sinner. If we are able to come to the
place to where we realize that every imagination of the heart
is only evil and that continually, He'll have to be the doer of
that. He'll have to be the doer of it. Can you ask Him with me
to make you a sinner? Can you do that? To show you how He sees you? To show you what you are outside
of Christ? From the top of your head to
the bottom of your feet? Being wounds and sores? Leprous from head to toe? God's
got to do that. The natural man's not going to
see himself as a sinner. Oh, he may see himself with some
sores on his body, but you can be sure that he's going to try
to patch them up. Whatsoever they did there, he
was the doer of it. If the law is to be kept, If
righteousness is to be presented, Christ is the end of the law
for righteousness to everyone that believes. He's going to
have to be the doer of it. You and I have never been able
to keep one of God's laws, not one single time. Not one single
time have we been able to satisfy any of the demands of God's holy
law. And not one jot or tittle of
that law will pass away. God's law doesn't change. God's
law can say nothing to me and you but guilty. It can do nothing but judge us.
And the only way that we're able to say, there is now therefore
no condemnation, the law can't condemn me, the law's been satisfied,
is to be found in Christ. He's got to be the doer of it.
If we're to be righteous, He's got to be the doer of it. If
the law is to be kept, He's going to have to be the doer of it.
If justice is to be satisfied, God said, I'll not let one sin
go unpunished. God's a holy God. He must satisfy
His divine justice. And if it's going to be satisfied,
you and I can't do it. He's going to have to be the
doer of it. God's going to have to be satisfied with the sacrifice
that the Lord Jesus Christ made on behalf of God's divine justice. If we're going to be found in
Christ, it'll begin with election. It'll begin with God putting
us in the covenant of grace before the world began, and the scripture
makes it clear in Ephesians chapter 1 that we are chosen in Christ
Jesus before the world began. And so our election is the work
that He has done. Whatsoever they did there, whatsoever
they did there, in this prison in which we live, He's going
to have to be the doer of it. All our righteousness, all of
God's justice, our election. What about knowledge? The gospel
will remain a mystery to us if he doesn't open the eyes of our
understanding, if he doesn't show us the power of his resurrection
and the fellowship of his suffering. Paul said, oh, that I might know
him. How are we going to know him? He's going to have to make himself
known. He's going to have to be the doer of it. Whatever knowledge
that we might have, God's going to have to give it to us. If
we're going to have any wisdom whatsoever, God has made the
Lord Jesus Christ to be unto us our wisdom. He's the personification of wisdom. And James put it like this, if
any of you lack wisdom, let him ask it of God who gives it liberally
and upbraideth it not. He's got to give us wisdom. Whatsoever
they did there, He was the doer of it. Now that means that you
can't do anything. You know the hardest thing in
the world in salvation is? The hardest thing to do? The
hardest thing to do is nothing. This is the gospel. This is the
only way God's going to save any of us. He's going to do it
all or He won't do it at all. He's going to be the doer of
it from beginning to end. He's going to be the Alpha and
the Omega, the first and the last, and everything in between. How about our redemption? How
are we going to be redeemed? Well, the scripture says we are
bought, that's what that word redemption means, with a price. What is the price? The precious
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Aaron read that passage from
1 Peter 1, verse 9. And you know that you were not
redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold. You
can't redeem yourself. with any offering that you bring,
however valuable you might think it is, but with the precious
blood of Christ as with a lamb that was without blemish and
without spot and was slain before the foundation of the world. If we're going to be redeemed,
he's going to have to be the doer of it. Whatsoever they did
there, he was the doer of it. He's going to do it all. What
about our sanctification? Some say, well, that's a cooperative
effort. No, it's not. No, it's not. Sanctification is not a cooperative
effort. Don't put your hand to your sanctification.
And it's not progressive. To be sanctified is what He has
done in setting us apart and making us holy before God. He is our sanctification. Regeneration makes absolutely
no alteration in your flesh. Do you get that? Regeneration
makes no alteration whatsoever in your flesh. Your flesh is
always going to be flesh. Regeneration gives you a new
heart, a new spirit, but there's nothing in the flesh that is
holy. That's what that word sanctification
means. There's nothing in the flesh that's holy. And there's
nothing in the new man that's unholy. That's sanctification. And it's his work. When he takes
out the heart of stone and puts in a heart of flesh. When he
makes us a new creature in Christ Jesus. Whatsoever they did there,
he was the doer of it. Every part of our salvation,
he's the doer of it. What about justification? Job
asked the question, how can a man be right with God? How can he
be justified with God? How can he, born of a woman,
be justified before God? He goes on to say, the moon and
the stars are not pure in his sight. How is a man going to
be justified? God answers that question in
Romans chapter 3 verse 24, we are justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whatsoever they
did there, he was the doer of it. A man is not justified by
the works of the law. but by the faith of Jesus Christ. Your faith doesn't justify you.
It's the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ that makes us sinless
before God. What about faith? Where are we
going to get that? For by grace are you saved through faith,
but that's not of yourself, it's a gift of God. Whatsoever they
did there, He was the doer of it. If you believed, He gave
you the faith to believe it. It's from faith to faith. It's
the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ that saves. God's people have a desire in
their hearts to obey the Lord. Who gave them that? Scripture says that it's Christ
that works in you, causing you to will and to do of His good
pleasure. Whatsoever they did there, He
was the doer of it. He's going to do it all. He's
going to do it all. This is our hope, isn't it? If
He's depending on us to make any contribution whatsoever, We'll just mess it up. What about hope? Well the scripture says that
Christ in you is your hope of glory. Now we're not talking
about hoping for something temporal or hoping for a better situation
or hoping for a better day tomorrow. We're talking about a hope that
will not disappoint and any hope that's placed outside of the
Lord Jesus Christ is a false hope. It's leaning on a teetering
wall. It's a manufactured hope that
will, it'll disappoint. It's vanity. If it's not found in Christ,
it's deceitful. If we're to have any hope at
all, he's gonna have to give it to us. Peace. Listen to what David said
in Psalm 37, 37. Mark the perfect man, behold
the upright. Mark the perfect man. In other
words, look to Christ. Behold the one who is upright,
for the end of that man is peace. If we're going to have peace
with God, the Lord Jesus Christ is going to have to be the doer
of it. And if we're going to enjoy the peace of God that passes
understanding and keeps our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, He's
going to have to be the doer of it. This is not man-made religion. This is God's gospel. This is
the gospel of God's free grace, where He gets all the glory. He's the Prince of Peace. He
said, My peace I give unto you, My peace I leave you, not as
the world gives, The world offers moments of peace that are just
peace, peace, in fact, when there is no peace. But the true peace
of God has to be done by the Lord Jesus Christ in the heart. When we're able to say, as Brie
sang, it's well with my soul. My sin's been put away. It's
been nailed to the cross. I bear it no more. And whatsoever they did there,
He was the doer of it. Joy? Rejoice in the Lord. Rejoice in the Lord. And again
I say rejoice. Let your gentleness be known
unto all men. Why? Because the Lord's at hand. Be anxious for
nothing, but in all things, what? By prayer and supplication, let
your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God that passes
understanding will keep your heart and your mind in Christ
Jesus. He's got to be the doer of that
joy. We're not going to have joy if
he doesn't do it. We're not going to have peace. We're not going
to have faith. We're not going to have comfort. Job put it like
this, the joy of the Lord is my strength. All true blessings, he's the
doer of them. How often times we hear people
say, well, you know, God blessed me with a new car. He blessed
me with this or blessed me with that. Maybe the biggest curse
you ever got. All true blessings are in the
heavenlies, in Christ, and He's the doer of it. He's the doer
of it. Life. Life. And this, the Lord Jesus Christ
said in John 17 verse 3, and this is life. Eternal. Wouldn't you love that? Oftentimes
in the word of God, life is spoken of as eternal life. But here
the Lord Jesus Christ, in interceding on our behalf, he says, and this
is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God in
Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. God's given him power over all
flesh to give eternal life to as many as those the Father's
given to him. Life in this world's hard. Life's hard when you're young,
trying to figure out what life is. Life's hard when you become
an adult, trying to make a living. And life gets really hard when
you get old, trying to stay alive. The problem is that most people
never get an adequate answer to those youthful inquiries about
what the meaning of life really is. And so they spend their whole
life, they spend their whole life pursuing life in this world
and desperately doing everything they can to hang on to it. That's
not life. That's not life. It's not God's life. All true life is found in the
Lord Jesus Christ. There's no life outside of Christ.
We come into this world spiritually dead, and if we're to have life,
he's going to have to be the doer of it. just like he took
Adam from the dust of the earth and breathed life into his nostrils,
just like he used the prophet Ezekiel in that valley of dry
bones to not only preach the gospel to him, but to send the
wind of the spirit to give them life. They were walking around,
they looked like they were alive, but they were still dead. The
scripture says there was no life in them. And apart from the Lord
Jesus Christ, that's what we are. We're just zombies. We're
just zombies. We're just walking around in
this world, and the problem is zombies don't know they're not
alive. They don't know they're dead.
And that's man's problem, isn't it? John 17, verse 2, as thou hast
given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life
to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal,
that they might know thee, the only true God in Jesus Christ,
whom thou hast sent. All the struggles that men call
life, that they experience in this
world, they're not life at all. They're not life at all. If we're
to have life, he's gonna have to be the doer of it. In him was life. And the life was the light of
men. The life was the light of men.
Lord, would you be the doer of my life? Would you be my life? We're not talking about Jesus
Christ being the most important person in your life. We're talking
about you having no life outside of him. He's the only hope for life that
we have. He's the resurrection and the
life. Whatsoever they did there, He was the doer of it. The butler was delivered from prison. and
brought back to the king's palace to serve him. The baker, the one who worked
with his hands, was brought out of prison and hanged. What server they did there, He was the doer of it. In verse
23, and the keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was
under his hand, because the Lord was with Joseph. And that which
Joseph did, the Lord made it to prosper. You can't prosper, I can't prosper.
Only our Joseph. It's not a story about Joseph,
is it? Not about Joseph at all. Let's pray together. Our Heavenly
Father, we ask that you would be the doer of all things for
us. Lord, we confess that without
you we can do nothing. We can't take our next breath
without you. We can't live physically in this
world without you. And there's no hope of having
any spiritual life apart from you being the doer of it. We ask that for thy name's sake,
you would have mercy upon our souls and give us life. For we ask it in Christ's name.
Amen. Number 26 in the Sopactimno,
let's stand together. The soul that sins, it shall
die. Word from God, who cannot lie. Justice cried against my soul. Law required eternal woe. Terror's from God's law that
fell. Crushed my heart with thoughts
of hell. Righteousness I cannot give,
Less than that God won't receive. How can I be just with God? Can He save and yet be God? Can he pardon all my sin? Can he cleanse my heart with
him? Yes, O blessed word of grace,
Christ brings hope to Adam's race. He obeyed the law of God,
and poured out his life in blood. God in justice looks on him and
forgives his people's sin. Jesus died for sinners' sake. Now as such, my place I take. Trusting Him, I cannot die. God has sworn and cannot lie. By your cross, O Christ the Lamb,
free from sin and guilt Christ has full atonement made,
now my debt is fully paid. I will sing of grace most free,
justice satisfied for me. At the throne of God above, I
will sing redeeming love. Amen. Thank you.
