In just a few more risings of the sun, if the Lord's pleased, just a
few more settings of that same sun, and we're all going to be gone. We're here for just a moment. And in that moment, what's actually done by the Lord
Himself is going to determine wherever man, every woman spends
eternity. In this last chapter of the book
of Revelation, it's talking about heaven, what heaven will be like. Now, what we perceive of it is,
by the grace of God, what we understand. But in this fourth verse of the
twenty-second chapter, I want to look at that one verse, verse
4. For all that God has called out
of darkness for you that believe. There's a blessed word this morning.
There's some comfort. You know, you know. At least
we know it in our heads. Not going to be here long. You
know that. I think about some of the writers
that I'll read sometimes. They're different ones. John Gill, Robert Hawker. And
these men are writing. They wrote a few things, you
know, and they were aware. While they were writing, they
were aware of being in this world. Now they're gone. Some of them
gone. 250 years. It is not in this world. But for God's people, for those
that the Lord has given a heart for Christ, here is what Scripture says.
Verse 4, And they shall see His face and His name. shall be in their foreheads." His servants, that's who He's
talking about. Verse 3, it says, there will
be no more curse, but the throne of God and the Lamb shall be
in it, and His servants shall serve Him. That's who the they
are. They shall see His face. Now
this is what it's saying. The Word is visage, the front part. They're going to look at Him. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. A body was prepared Him. God-man. He has a face just like I have
a face and you have a face. That's what that word there means.
They shall see His face and His name. That is the person and
all that that name sets forth. Everything that that name represents,
the dignity, the title, His essence? We don't think of a name as the
Scriptures set forth as a name being. You read and look up some
of these names of people and name represents something. His name. Wonderful, Counselor,
Mighty God. And we hear these names right
now And that name just kind of goes right over our heads. We
don't perceive it. We say we do and we don't. But His name, His nature, His
attributes, His perfection, His counsel, His will, His purpose,
all of the glorious revelations in Christ, all that He's done,
for His people. We understand now in part, we
see through a glass darkly, but then we'll see His face and His
name shall be in their foreheads. They'll know
in their mind. Now this blessed truth, of seeing
Him. Now, we know based on His Word
where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am in
the midst of you. But right now, He is to our eyes
invisible. But this word, see, right here,
it means what you think of seeing. You are looking. I see you. The Lord said in Matthew 5, verse
8, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. It is
the same word. They will see Him. They will look on Him. And they will know. They'll know
as they're known. He will allow Himself to be seen. That's what it means. But the wonder of this seeing,
the wonder of that perception, they shall see His face. The wonder of that is where? they're going to see Him. This Scripture right here is
after the great white throne judgment. It's already taken
place. So where they're seeing Him is
actually in heaven. They're actually going to look
upon Him in heaven. I want you to turn to Luke 13. This is the wonder. They shall
see Him. Just for a moment, ask the Lord,
would You allow me the privilege? I want this. Would You allow
me to enter in, Lord, somewhat to what's being said here? They
shall see Him. Now here's the glory. Here's
the wonder. Here's the blessedness of this.
Luke 13, verse 24. Strive to enter in at the straight
gate. You know a believer does that. They're concerned. They are taken
up every day. They're taken up every day. Oh,
that I might know Him. Lord, have mercy on me. Lord,
allow me. I want to hear. I want to know
You. I do. I do. Lord, I don't want
to be indifferent. I'm so sorry for the way I perceive
myself. to be, forgive me, strive to
enter in at the straight gate. For many, I say unto you, will
seek to enter in and shall not be able." When are they going
to strive? When? Well, when once the master of
the house has risen up and has shut the door. You shall begin to stand without
and to knock at the door saying, Lord, open unto us, and He shall
answer and say unto you, I know you not whence you are. Then
shall you begin to say, We've eaten and drunk in thy presence. I was there. I came to church. Thou'st taught in our streets.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence you are. Depart from me, all you workers
of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing
of teeth when you shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the
prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out. Lord, let me not be found. Have
mercy on me. Here's the part though, verse
27. Depart from me. These right here,
back in Revelation 22. They shall see His face. They shall actually have His
appearance. They'll look on Him. They will actually behold with
an eye concerning His mercy and compassion. Hebrews 9.28 says, So Christ
was once offered to bear the sins of many unto them that look
for Him shall He appear. That's that same word. They shall see. He shall appear
the second time without sin unto salvation. They will actually
look on Him. And he who by faith now we see
through a glass darkly, then open face." Now you stop and
think about this. For all that Almighty God has
everlastingly loved, He's called out of darkness, given a heart
that's concerned for His glory, concerned for His honor, concerned
for His gospel, concerned for His people. Very soon, you're
going to look on Him. You'll see Him. You'll see Him in compassion. This blessed truth that we know
to be so. The Old Testament saints believed
this. Listen to Job. Job 19, 25 and
27, For I know that my Redeemer liveth. You know that. I know. I know that my Redeemer
liveth. He is. I know He is. I know. And that He shall stand
at the latter day upon the earth. God-man. There He is, the Man. The Man, Christ Jesus. He's going
to stand on this earth. And though after my skin, worms
destroy this body, Job said, I know that I'm going to die. They're going
to put me in the ground. And worms are going to eat my
skin Though that's so, yet in my flesh," not their old carnal nature,
I'm talking about this, in my flesh, shall I see God, whom
I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another,
though my reins, though my organs be consumed within me. His body
is going down. I know that. I know that. But
here's the confidence of a believer. Though because of sin I find
myself coming to the end of this life, oh, the glory of knowing that
I'm going to see Him and I'm going to look on Him and I'm
going to see Him in my flesh." Resurrected. Job trusted the
very One that we trust. He said, I know that My Redeemer. It's not enough to know that
He is a Redeemer. I know that He is a Redeemer. My Redeemer. I know that My Redeemer. I believe. This is my hope. I believe it when He died. I
believe He died knowing Marvin Stoniker. He said, I know my sheep. I know
them by name. I call them by name. I know that my Redeemer liveth."
This is not, as the communists said, just an opiate of the people. It's not just a soothing something
that just kind of appeases me for just a little while because
I see this life fading. It's, I know that my Redeemer
liveth, ever liveth. And Job said, I know that He
is going to stand on this earth. He who was made flesh, God, made
in the likeness of sinful flesh who lived, earned a righteousness
by His obedience, made sin, actually made sin, that I might be made the righteousness
of God in Him. He liveth. The one that we shall see, the
one who was actually raised from the dead, the one who ascended
into heaven, the one who is right now at the right hand of the
glory of power, the one who right now is working
all things after the counsel of His own will, that His purpose
that shall stand shall be brought to completion." That's who He
is. Job, who suffered so miserably
physically at the boils in the heat, he said, I know, I'm going to
see Him. my eyes, in this very body, in
the very body in which you're living in right now. Paul said
it's going to be changed. It's sown in corruption. It's
going to be buried in corruption. It's coming for you that believe
it's going to be raised in incorruption. Never to die again. No more sin.
No more curse. No more pain. No more tears. Eyes that will never change. Incorruptible. In the body that
you're living in right now, you that believe, you're going to
see God. And here's the wonder of what
you're going to see. you're going to see Him in His
flesh. And you'll look upon Him who
was made like unto His brethren. And you'll see Him just as those
apostles saw Him caught up into the clouds. They were looking
at Him. And the angel said, you men of
Galilee, why stand you here gazing at this same Jesus? The ones that looked on Him that
day, that believed Him, they are going to see Him and so will
everyone that God has called out of darkness and given a new
heart. You are going to see Him. who was ascended into heaven, you'll look on Him. And you will
see Him, and in that day you see Him, His name, and all that
that name sets forth will be in your forehead. God will teach
you all things. And you will bow before Him,
the Scripture reveals, Scripture says, casting their crowns before
Him, the four and twenty elders, and said, You're worthy to receive
all honor and glory and praise. Just a few more. Just a few more,
if the Lord tarries. Just a few more setting suns.
Just a few more. And you're going to see Him.
And you'll be with Him. Forever and ever. Amen. Let's just take a break for a
minute.
