The sermon delivered by Fred Evans on Philippians 4:19 addresses the theological doctrine of God's providential supply in meeting the needs of believers. He emphasizes that God promises to provide for all needs according to His riches in glory through Jesus Christ, highlighting the importance of understanding both physical and spiritual needs. Evans discusses the distinction between the world's view of wealth and needs and the biblical perspective that prioritizes spiritual blessings and the grace of giving as a response to God's abundance. Key Scripture references include Philippians 4:19, which emphasizes God's unfailing ability to meet needs, and illustrations from the Gospels that point to Christ as the source of mercy, pardon, righteousness, wisdom, and strength. The sermon underscores the practical significance of cultivating a mindset of trust in God's provision and encourages believers to pray earnestly for their needs, both physical and spiritual, while reminding them that all these needs are fulfilled through Christ.

Key Quotes

“Our wealth is in the spiritual blessings that God has given us in Christ before the foundation of the world.”

“If you don't want to give, don't. By all means, keep it. God gave it to you. It's yours. Do with it as you please.”

“You see, the believer's wealth is not measured by money... it is based upon the graces given us.”

“My God shall supply all your needs...because of His Son, no other reason.”

What does the Bible say about God's supply for our needs?

Philippians 4:19 states that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God's promise to supply our needs is captured in Philippians 4:19, where the Apostle Paul assures us that, 'My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.' This means that whatever necessities we face—be they physical, spiritual, or emotional—are within God's capacity to meet. The richness of God’s glory is not limited; it is infinite, and thus He can provide fully for His people. It is crucial for Christians to trust in this divine supply, recognizing that our physical needs are not the only focus—our deeper spiritual needs, such as mercy and righteousness, are ultimately more significant.

Philippians 4:19

How do we know God will meet our needs?

We know God will meet our needs because He is faithful to His promises and His resources are unlimited.

The assurance of God meeting our needs is grounded in His absolute faithfulness. Philippians 4:19 provides a direct promise that God shall supply all our needs. This assurance is not based on our merit but on God’s nature and the rich provision found in Christ Jesus. The Apostle emphasizes that what we receive from God in terms of need fulfillment comes from the inexhaustible riches of His glory. Our dependence on God is essential, as we acknowledge that He owns all things and can provide what is necessary. When we pray for our needs, we can rest assured that God has both the will and the ability to meet them according to His wisdom and timing.

Philippians 4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:8

Why is spiritual provision important for Christians?

Spiritual provision is vital because Christians have deeper needs beyond physical sustenance, such as mercy, pardon, and righteousness.

Spiritual provision is vital for Christians as it addresses our deepest needs—those that extend beyond mere physical sustenance. The life of a believer encompasses a continual need for mercy, which is the acknowledgment of our shortcomings and reliance on God's grace. We need pardon for our sins and righteousness to stand before a holy God. These spiritual blessings are granted exclusively through Jesus Christ, who fulfills every spiritual need of the believer. As we recognize our poverty of spirit, our hearts cry out for these provisions, understanding that they are not only necessary for our survival but also for our growth in holiness and fellowship with God. In this way, spiritual provision is foundational for living a life that is pleasing to God and beneficial to ourselves and others.

Ephesians 1:3, Romans 3:22-23

How does God supply our needs according to His riches?

God supplies our needs according to His riches through Christ, emphasizing grace rather than our merit.

God provides for our needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ, which highlights both the abundance of His resources and the means by which He supplies them. The supply comes from the infinite grace and love of God as displayed through Christ. This provision is not dependent on our worthiness but rather upon the merit of Jesus, who perfectly fulfilled the Law. When we seek to meet our spiritual needs—be it mercy, righteousness, or wisdom—we must approach God with nothing but our need. This reflects a posture of humility, recognizing that all good gifts flow from God's generous hand, and that in Christ, all our needs are met. Thus, we can find comfort knowing that the grace we receive is abundant and unfailing, allowing us to grow and thrive in our Christian walk.

Okay, I have notes. That's good. We'll begin the message. We'll go to God and ask for his mercies again. Ask your prayer for me. I have been sick this last week and you know how the mind is not always together and lack of sleep and things like that, but I do ask your prayers that God would give me what you need. that God would give me the liberty of His Spirit, that God would express through the message the heart of this text, the heart in which it was sent, the mind of the Spirit. That's what I desire. What good is to know my mind? We want to know the things of God. We want to know the mind of the Spirit. And who knows the mind of the Spirit but the Spirit? He must teach us. He must instruct us. And we must pray that He will.

Continue to pray for those that are sick, those who have difficulties. Chuck and Patty's family, remember them in prayer. His brother-in-law and now her mom are doing ill. So pray for them. Pray that God be gracious. And give them strength. bouncing from hospital to hospital. I'm glad to see you, but I know that that's exhausting. So pray for them, Lord, give them strength.

I was talking to Clay Curtis this last week, and I'd like to meet with him after the service concerning offerings giving to another congregation in the Philippines. A very young congregation, Clay's taken over that. And I believe that they could use some help and support in that place. So we'll talk about that after service. Any other thing that I'm missing? I'm sure I'm going to be missing a lot. So if it comes to your mind, you better speak now. Dinner next Sunday, next Sunday, thank you. Mom will be traveling out on Tuesday, so pray for her as she travels. Yeah, my sister is not doing well, so pray for her. Well, Ashley and them were sick, David was sick. They came down here, drove all the way from Texas just to get sick. So I'm sure it's a Thanksgiving they'll remember. So may not want to repeat it ever. So we may never see them again. So pray for them as they're sick.

Let's go to him in prayer. Our gracious Father in heaven, we bow ourselves before you in great need. We find no strength in ourselves, Father. We find no abilities in ourselves. We have no power in ourselves. We are absolutely dependent upon you for grace, for strength, for everything physical, and especially everything spiritual.

Father, I need you. I confess that I have no strength, no ability in myself. I pray that you would deliver a message for your people, for the furtherance of the gospel, for the comfort of your people, that you would again show forth your mercy, your grace, your righteousness, your blood, the blood of your Son that you have as all our hope and all our need is found in Him.

I pray for these that you would open their hearts and minds. If there be any who are lost in this place without Christ, that you would even this day open their needs, show them their need of Christ, and give them the power and strength and desire and will to come and believe on Him.

To those we have mentioned, Father, we pray for healing, pray for strength. Father, I pray that Christ be magnified in every part of this service. As he is worthy, cast aside the cares of this life and this body and this mind for a moment, that we would center our thoughts and our affections upon him.

and your supply of every need that we have. Forgive us our sins. Cleanse us of our unrighteousness. We believe, Lord, help our unbelief. We pray these things in Christ's name and for his sake. Amen.

All right, take your Bibles, turn back with me to Philippians chapter 4. Philippians chapter 4 in my text will be found in verse 19. The apostle says, But my God shall supply all your need. Listen to this source. According to the riches, his riches in glory. Here's the grounds. Jesus Christ, by Christ Jesus. And tie this message to God's supply. God's supply.

Now, the apostle back in verse 10, he expresses joy. He expresses joy. Now, the apostle here is in prison. In fact, then there was no prison system where they had a food line or anything like that. They were totally dependent on outside help for food or anything else. And the apostle here expresses his joy. He said in verse 10, ìI rejoice in the Lord greatly, how that at the now, at the last, your care for me hath flourished again, whereunto youíre also careful, but you lacked opportunity.î He was conveying his joy in their offering, their giving to him, and this was not the first time they did it, but now it was going to be the last. He was going to But this was, and he said, you wanted to do it many other times, but you lacked opportunity to do it.

Now, let me convey this to all the saints that giving to the furtherance of the gospel is a privilege. It is a privilege here. It's what Paul is saying. You lacked opportunity. You wanted to do it. These people had a heart for it. They longed to support God's man. Now the world sees giving to the church as a waste. That's a waste. False religion sees it as a law or as some means to obtain physical health or physical wealth. That's what giving is to them. But for the child of God, giving is a grace. It's a grace and it is based upon the grace that is given us. It is based upon the graces given us.

You see, the believer's wealth is not measured by money. That's not how we measure wealth. Our wealth is in the spiritual blessings that God has given us in Christ before the foundation of the world. The spiritual blessings are our wealth and it is our privilege then to support the gospel. That's what the Apostle is conveying here. It is a privilege. Therefore, we should, like these saints, look for every opportunity. Why? Because God has a people, doesn't He? We know He has a people. We know that the Spirit is going to call those people by one specific means, by the preaching of the gospel. And so what this does is we We should give it every opportunity for the furtherance of this gospel. That this gospel should go forth from this place. We enjoy it here. We're glad that it's here. We benefit from it here. But we also long for it to go out. It goes out by the power of the Spirit and to be used of God for that is a privilege. It's an honor. This is the means that God has chosen.

Look what Paul says in verse 17. He said, Not that I desired a gift. He didn't ask him for this. He said, I'd rather desire fruit, spiritual fruit, that it may abound to your account. But I have and abound, I am full. Having received of Epaphratus the things which were sent of you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. The apostle, like all preachers, do not covet the things, the money, the praise of this world. It's not what we're here for. We're here to preach the gospel because this is the means that God has chosen.

And listen to this. I've often said this about giving, and I don't often preach on it, But listen, if you don't want to give, don't. By all means, keep it. God gave it to you. It's yours. Do with it as you please. So if you begrudge in any way to give, then I say don't. Don't. God's people aren't begrudging about this. Why? Because they understand what they've been given. And they understand that they can never out-give God.

If you gave all, what have you really given? Have you not just given all that you received? You've not given anything of yourself. You don't have anything of yourself. What can you give of yourself? Nothing. It's all a gift. Everything we have is a gift of God. And so Paul comforts them who give. And He shows them something that He has learned.

Look what He says in verse 19 in our text, seeing that they gave. And I'm sure that they gave out of their necessity, not just out of their abundance. They gave out of necessity. And the Apostle here conveys to them that they should not be anxious. And I'll tell you what, there's something to be anxious about when we give and then we have nothing left. It causes anxiety, doesn't it? But here's what Paul says, don't be anxious about anything. Why? Because my God, listen to what he said, but my God, you think you gave? Let me tell you something about my God. My God shall do more for you in this. He shall supply all your need. And His account is not limited. according to the riches, His riches in glory. How rich is God in glory? Are not the heavens and earth His, in His possession, moving all things after the counsel of His own will? All things belong to Him. And so Paul comforts them, he said, My God shall supply all your needs. I want you to know this, and I want you to hold on to this confidence. So no matter the trouble and difficulty, here is our promise that God will supply all your need. That's a promise. That's just so. My God shall supply all your need.

Now, I want to take this and divide this into the three sections here. Our need, first of all. What is that? Our need. What do we need? What do you need? And ask what you want, but ask what you need, because my God shall supply exactly that, all you need. Secondly, we're going to see who supplies the need. My God supplies the need. And thirdly, we're going to see the channel by which He supplies this, according to the riches of His glory, listen to this, by Jesus Christ. That's very important. What if God gave you based on your merit? What would you receive then? No, this is not a gift based on your merit, but it is based on Jesus Christ.

So see this, first of all, our need. our need. Now, we as men have many physical needs. This is so. And if you have a need, believer, pray for it. There is nothing that you have need of that you are denied to pray for. You sick? Pray for it. You need finances? Pray for it. Why? Because it all belongs to Him, isn't it? Our physical, our financial, everything we have, family, relationships, all of those are vitally necessities that we have. And God knows your need. Doesn't He know the need of the birds? And if He takes care of them, are you not of greater value than they? That's what He tells us. You see the lilies, how they are beautiful there. God clothes them and then the next day the flower burns up. He said, God knows you need clothes. God knows you need food. Well, if you have need, pray for it. But I tell you this, man has a greater need than physical needs. There are greater needs that we have as believers. We know we have greater needs than these. God knows these needs. and we ask for Him and how many times He gives us. How many times? Can you count how many times you've been sick and how many times He healed you? Can you count how many times that He saved you from dangers and difficulties? You can't count. It's too many.

But we as believers know we have a greater need and these are spiritual needs. Yet we know this, that man by nature doesn't know this. Man by nature has no spiritual needs. So they read this verse and they only think physical. This is what religion concentrates on. My God shall supply all your needs. And all they focus on is their money, their health, their wealth, their relationships, That's what they want, that's what they need.

But what they don't realize is that they have a greater need, a spiritual need, and that is because they are dead. If you don't understand your spiritual need, it is simply because you are dead. Until the Lord quickened us, we had no need. A dead man has no wants. Isn't that right? You put a dead man in a desert, he will never want for water. Put a dead man in some ice and he will never want for warmth. You stab a dead man with knives, he will never feel the pain. You can beat a dead man and he will never cry out. Why? He's dead.

Now a natural man will cry out for physical stuff, because that's all he wants. That's all he needs. But when God gave us life, what did we begin to do? We began to cry, not for physical things, but for spiritual things. Natural man will cry for natural things, but those born of God, quickened by the power of the Spirit, quickened from the dead, that man that is quickened is made aware of his spiritual needs that no work of the flesh can supply. You that believe, don't you understand that? That there is no work of the flesh that can supply your spiritual needs. No amount of religion could supply it. You try it. I tried. I know I tried. But we found it to be empty.

Dead man satisfied with religious things and ceremonies and rituals. But once we were quick and no amount of those things could make us acceptable to God. Therefore all who are born again are like babes. We cry for food because we're hungry. We cry for what kind of food? Spiritual food. We cry unto God for warmth of His love. We cry for His care. We cry for His forgiveness. We cry for His pardon of sin. We cry for His righteousness so that we might be acceptable to God.

Now, this morning I want us to look at our needs. You that are born again, I know you understand these needs. And I want you to see this, that every one of these needs, This is what this scripture promises. My God shall supply all your need.

Now listen, here's the first one. Mercy. You that are born again, is this not a great need? Mercy. Mercy. I am sure it is the first thing you ask for. When God opened your eyes to your sin, it is the first thing you ask for, mercy. We were like that publican laying in the dust on his face and would not lift up his head. And he said, Lord, be merciful to me, the sinner. The Pharisee was looking around and he said, look, see all these sinners? That's what the Pharisee said. He didn't have a need for mercy. He thought everybody else had a need, but not himself. The publican didn't look at that Pharisee and say, He's a sinner. No, the publican beat on his own chest and said, Lord, be merciful to me. I don't know about anybody else. The sinner. The sinner.

How many in religion right now have never once lifted up and asked for mercy? Now, the word may have crossed their lips, but they have never felt broken. Have you been broken? Has the spirit broken your heart concerning sin? They've never felt helpless. When God exposes us of our sin, that's the first thing we feel helpless. And one thing we do not need is merit. We need mercy.

Mercy. Mercy is undeserved favor. And this only comes by one means, it comes by Jesus Christ. There is no other way to have mercy. Jesus said, I am the door. I am the door. By me if any man enter in, he shall be saved. Christ is the way. There is no other way for mercy but at the feet of Christ. And all who come to him for mercy, listen, There has never been one who has come for absolute mercy that has not received it. That's astounding, isn't it? Because mercy denotes the fact that we don't deserve it. If there's any way you deserve it, it's not mercy, is it?

I think of that woman who came to Napoleon. Her son was a convicted criminal and he was about to be hanged and she came to Napoleon asking for mercy. She said, have mercy, have mercy. And he turned and said, yes, but this is not the only time your son has done this. He has done it many times. He is guilty. She said, that's why I'm asking for mercy and not justice. Because he is guilty. Only the guilty need what? Mercy. Anybody have that need?

So we don't come by any merit of the flesh, any act of the will. To do so is to climb up some other way. Remember, there's only one way in the door, Jesus and I'm the door. If any man come in any other way, he is a thief and a robber. You come to God in any other way, you're a thief and a robber.

So now that we come to God for mercy, Since when do we ever cease to need mercy? You that have found mercy, do you not still need mercy? Matter of fact, the more I grow in grace and knowledge of Christ, the more I see my need of it. Mercy. Constant, perpetual, everlasting, ceaseless mercy of God.

Second need is this, pardon. We need mercy. Mercy from what? From sin. Because of our guilt. We need pardon. The Gospel message is plain. This is a clear Gospel message. That all the Father chose in grace, Jesus Christ has purchased by His blood. And the Spirit of God will come to every one of them, and they will seek mercy. And they will seek pardon by one means, His blood.

The Apostle Paul in 3rd Ephesians 1 says, In whom we have redemption. How? How has redemption come? Through His blood. Through His blood. There is no other way for pardon, there is no other way for forgiveness but through His blood. God's justice does not wink at our sins. God's justice does not slide our sins under the rug. It cannot! Therefore, God sent His Son in mercy, sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins, the offering for our sins. And listen, you that believe, you have redemption. Means, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

And I always like these words, according, because that means, that tells me how it's done. That tells me, that gives me the answer, doesn't it? According. Now that's how redemption's made, that's how forgiveness is made. Now listen, why? How? According to the riches of His grace. That's how. It's grace.

We who are taught of God the depths of our iniquity, the immutability and omnipotence of His judgment, it is then we feel our need of pardon, not by works, Without the shedding of blood is no remission of sins. Therefore, we who need forgiveness, where do we find it? And listen, I've not ceased to need mercy, but listen, I've not also ceased to need forgiveness. And I'm so thankful that His blood is a never-ceasing fountain of grace, a constant stream. I like the way John put it. He said, He cleanseth us. from all sins. That means He did cleanse me. He is right now cleansing me. And He shall forever cleanse me. That's what John meant. He cleanseth us from all our sins.

That's what His blood, His blood is powerful. His blood is effectual. That's our need, isn't it? I need forgiveness. I need mercy.

Third thing we need is righteousness. every believer is recognized this we need righteousness not only do I need our sins erased but we also need positive righteous obedience that we can't provide you see because God is holy only those who are holy will be accepted But as soon as we are able to see our nature, we know this, we can never provide it. Ever. Could you ever provide righteousness? Now listen, is there anything you have ever done that's righteous? Now religious men will tell you, they'll find things they've done righteous. They're blind and dead. They don't understand righteousness.

When we come to God, we come like that prophet, that high priest Joshua. Remember Joshua the high priest in Zechariah? He was supposed to be dressed in the priestly garment. He was supposed to be dressed in fine linen, clean and white. But how did he appear before God? He appeared before God in rags, in filth. That's how I appeared before God. When I came to God, there was no righteousness in me. None whatsoever. What could Joshua say? What could you say? Did you have any excuse? I had no excuse. I'm thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ refused to allow even Satan to make accusation. He said, is this not mine? That's what he said when you came to him. He said, it's not mine. Is this not a brand pluck from the Bernie? And what did he tell them immediately? He said, take the robe. Take that filthy garment off of him and put on the priestly robes. Clean him. Wash him up. Then put on the priestly robes. That's what he did with us. He washed us in his blood. And then he did what? He put on his own righteousness.

It's astounding to even think about. Now I have been given the righteousness of God made by Jesus Christ. It's mine. It's given to me. It's not mine by my actions. It's mine by grace. It's mine by gift. But it's mine. Do you have need of righteousness? Anybody need righteousness? Listen, Christ alone has made righteousness. And everyone who believes in Him, listen, that righteousness is freely given to them. And you know what we dare not do is we dare not add any of our own to it. You that have that righteousness, you know this, you dare not touch it. You don't want to put anything to it. I use that illustration of the Sistine Chapel, how beautiful that ceiling is that Michelangelo painted, beautiful. It's like I would go up there with some crayons and say, hey, let me add to this. This just isn't perfect enough. I think I need to contribute something to it. I'd ruin it. If I add my works to his, I'd ruin it.

Praise God, I don't have to. That's what he says in Romans 3. Romans 3 tells us, but the righteousness of God is manifest, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God, which is what? By the faith of Jesus Christ. Unto all and upon all them that believe.

You know what I'll never stop needing? I'll never stop needing His righteousness. I'll never desire anything else but to be clothed in His righteousness. We need wisdom. We need mercy. We need pardon. We need righteousness. And what do we need? We need wisdom. We need wisdom. Why? We don't have any of our own. You know what the definition Paul gives of ignorance is? A man trying to obtain his own righteousness. That's ignorance. He said that in Romans 10. He said they being ignorant of the righteousness of God go about to establish their own righteousness. That's ignorance. We all had our ignorance in time past until God revealed that we could not provide righteousness, we could not provide atonement,

And what's wisdom? Wisdom is Christ. He showed us that both righteousness, mercy, and pardon is only found in one person, Jesus Christ. That's wisdom. That's the wisdom of God. And when we found that Christ being the wisdom of God, we forsook all our own earthly wisdom. Look back in chapter 3, look what Paul says about his wisdom. All his earthly religious wisdom in verse 7. He said, But what things were gained to me I count as loss for Christ. That's wisdom. That's wisdom.

Yea, doubtless, and I count. Listen, he said, I not only counted, that's past. But right now, at this moment, whatever is gained to me, I count as lost, as dung. I count as dung. For the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ and be found in him. That's wisdom. You want to be found in Him? Is there any other place you want to be found? You that have been saved, is there any other place you want to be found? When God comes and takes us out of this world, is there any other place you want to be? Tell you what, as I live and breathe in this world, there is no other place I want to be. I have got to have Him. I have got to be found in Him or there's no hope for me. He's all my refuge. He's all my righteousness. He's all my atonement. He's all the love of my heart. Those who are found in Him. Found what? Wisdom. Wisdom.

Fifth thing we need is strength. Isn't this what you found when you came to Christ first, that you were utter weakness? You know, I heard this, and this was that God had an elect people, a very specific number of people, and Christ died for those people. And the Spirit of God will only come to those people. Now, when I was lost, that was a terrifying thing. That was a terrifying truth. Why? Because I had no strength to come. I had no hope in myself to get up and come. God revealed that to me. That was the beginning of life, not the end of it. That was the beginning. Why? Because when I had no strength, what did I do? I cried to Him for strength. I said, Lord, I cannot believe except You give me strength. I am totally dependent. You know what? And He didn't give me strength immediately. You know what? That never left me until He gave me strength. When the Spirit of God pursues a man, He will not stop until He gets him. And at the appointed time, He gave me strength. And when God gave me strength, was it a choice, really? Was it a decision that I had to really ponder? No. No, I definitely came when He gave me strength. And so then, do you still need strength? You that believe, do you not still need strength to believe?

So we see then our need. We need mercy, we need pardon, we need righteousness, we need wisdom, we need strength. And these are constant, perpetual needs. You need that this morning? Well then, listen to the text. Here's the second part, the one that supplies it. My God shall supply all your need. Now, suppose that you've realized you have these needs. You say, I need mercy. I need forgiveness. I need righteousness. I need wisdom. I need strength. I need exactly what you're saying, preacher. I need those things. But listen, if you're satisfied with just needing those things, you really don't need them. I've met people in that condition where they realize they need forgiveness. They need these things, but they're satisfied with just needing them. They think that that's good enough.

Now if you're dying of thirst, would it be good enough just to have the thirst? Would you be satisfied with the thirst? You wouldn't be satisfied until what? It was supplied. Until somebody gave you water. Your thirst would never cease until someone supplied it. Having a need, a necessity, is necessary. But sinner, if your need is of the Holy Spirit, you will never be satisfied until God supplies it.

Remember that Canaanite woman who came and the Lord rejected her, didn't even respond to her at first. And she kept crying. And the disciples said, look, she cries after us now. They weren't crying after them. And he turns around and he said, Is it meat to give the children's bread to dogs? Now, how many times has he got to reject her? But you know what? She was not going to stop until she had his response. No one would ever be satisfied with famine unless he had food. Even so, One who is truly made to see his need of salvation will not stop until God supplies it.

Now, I've met people who felt like they had a need and then it just went away. You've seen those people that have come in, they seem like they're just really, I mean, you feel embarrassed because they're so on fire, they're so full of zeal, you know, and you see their zeal and you go, man, why don't I have that? And then all of a sudden, the zeal is gone. Why? They didn't really have a need. But when God puts a need, He's not gonna let that need subside until what? He supplies it. Until He supplies it.

And listen what the promise is. Everyone who truly has a need, listen, God says He shall supply all your need. Do you need mercy? Then ask God till He gives it. Do you need righteousness? Ask God till He gives it. Do you need pardon and forgiveness? Seek God till He gives it. If you truly have a need of the Spirit, you won't stop until He gives it. You can't stop until you have it. Why? Because there's none other than Jesus Christ that can give it. And like I told you before, there is no one in Scripture who has ever sued for mercy to Christ and not found it. No one. Why? Because the act of need is a product of the Spirit. The Spirit of God quickening the soul to feel its need, and then pursues that man until he comes to Christ. When he comes to Christ, what does he find? He finds all he needs.

Need mercy? Come to Christ. You need pardon? Come to Christ. You need righteousness? Come to Christ. You need wisdom? Come to Christ. You need strength? Come to Christ. Why? Because that's where it's all found. It's found in one man, Jesus Christ. It's not found anywhere else. And you can't earn it. You can't buy it. It's total free grace. That's the only way to receive it. You come empty. You come with nothing but guilt, you come with nothing but sin, nothing but weakness. You come that way, you listen to my text. My God shall supply all your need. All your need. You see, God is well satisfied with Christ's righteousness. God is well satisfied with Christ's blood. And all who come to Him for righteousness and pardon find exactly what they need. Now, if you're looking for any other way, if you're looking to be justified any other way, there's no hope for you. You won't find these things that you need any other place. But Jesus Christ.

Now then, look at this channel. The channel by which this comes. According to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.

You say you need mercy. How much mercy does God have? His mercy is as infinite as His being. In other words, there's no measuring it. I could say His mercy is as full as the ocean, but that's just not even true. His mercy is as vast as the heavens. Even that's limited. I'm telling you, His mercy is as infinite as His person.

How rich is He in mercy? Listen, He has mercy on you even when you don't know you need it. How many sins has He pardoned that you don't even know of? How infinite is His forgiveness? How boundless is the blood of Christ to cleanse us of our sins? How boundless is it? How powerful is it? It's so powerful, the blood of Christ is so powerful to cleanse us of our sins that in Jeremiah 50, God says you don't have any. Jeremiah 15 verse 20, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for and there shall be none. That's how powerful the blood of Christ is to cleanse you of your sin.

That's not how you feel. I'm not telling you that's how you're going to feel one day. You're going to say, wow, I don't have any sin anymore. I'm just OK now. You're never going to feel that way in this life because you still have this old man. But the blood of Christ is so powerful to cleanse you of your sin. It's so infinite that you can't out sin it. You can't. Why? Because He's already taken into account all your sins. When He died, He died for all your sins. All of them.

How vast is His righteousness? How perfect is the righteousness of Christ? Can you find any flaws in it? Is there anything you need to add to it? No. When Paul said this, he said, it is the righteousness of God. That's what righteousness Christ made. As a man, as he earned righteousness, he earned the very righteousness of God. And in that same righteousness, he gives to you.

How infinite is his wisdom. And yet he's given you the wisdom of God in Jesus Christ. He's given you understanding. That's why Paul said, I count everything done for it. the excellency of the knowledge of Christ, wisdom, and he's given us strength. How infinite is his strength? Listen, matter of fact, Paul said, when I am weak, then I'm made strong. In utter weakness, we begin to experience some of the strength of our God. Is there anything too hard for Him? Is there anything impossible for Him? How strong is God? So when I ask for strength, I'm dipping into a well that's endless.

That's good. You know why? Because I need infinite mercy. I need infinite pardon. I need infinite righteousness. I need infinite wisdom. I need infinite strength. Because I'm the total opposite of that. You see the source.

Now then, look at the grounds. Why is He going to give me these things? Why is God going to supply these things? Now, I'll tell you, I can give you a million reasons why He shouldn't. I can tell you all the things in my mind, in my heart. The evils. I can tell you why he shouldn't. But he only gives me one reason why he will. By Christ Jesus. I'm gonna have mercy on you because of my son. I'm going to forgive you because of my Son. I'm going to give you my righteousness because of my Son. Give you my wisdom and my strength because of my Son. Because of His Son, listen, because of His Son, no other reason. Don't look for one. He won't find it.

Because of His Son, my God shall supply all your needs. Out of the depths of the riches of His glory, He'll supply them. And He's gonna do it because He loves His Son. And because you are in His Son. You won't find these needs met any other place except in His Son.

And listen to me, this is not like a promise we make. I promise you, I promise you, whatever you need, I'll help you. Who are you? because my supply to help is limited. And you might take me off, so I may not want to give it to you. This is a promise of God, my God. Not like anybody else, my God shall, without fail, supply your needs.

And I tell you, I have physical needs, and I know He's supplied every one of them. And if you need them, ask. Ask. But how much more valuable are these spiritual needs? Mercy, forgiveness, righteousness, wisdom, strength. Aren't these valuable? My God shall supply all your needs. according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.

I hope God will comfort you with this. Hold on to it. Grab ahold of it with both hands and don't let go. It's His promise that cannot fail. Because He cannot fail.

Let's stand and be dismissed in prayer. Our gracious Father, dismiss us with your own mercies. Pour out your Spirit on us. Be gracious to us. These things we have great need of. Mercy, righteousness, forgiveness, pardon, strength, wisdom. To meet the day, we constantly need these things. I beg you to give us these things by Jesus Christ.

Oh, forgive us our sins. Lead us. Cause us to rejoice and not to be anxious concerning the things of this world. I pray this in Jesus' name and for his sake. I love you.
