Now if you take your Bibles and
turn with me to Isaiah chapter 40. Isaiah chapter 40. And the
title of the message this morning is a message for the weary. Our text is going to be found
beginning in verse 26. In verse 26. We can begin in
verse 25. God says to whom? Then will you
liken me? or shall I be equal, saith the
Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and
behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their
host by number, he calleth them all by names, by the greatness
of his might. For that he is strong in power,
not one faileth. Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and
speakest, O Israel, my way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment
is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known, hast thou
not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of
the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There
is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint.
To them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the
youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly
fall. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and
not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Now this passage of Scripture
in Isaiah chapter 40, we all know that the beginning of this
chapter is a wonderful blessing. It's a wonderful blessing. At
the very beginning, God opens this chapter with a word of comfort. He says, Comfort ye, comfort
ye my people, saith the Lord. Speak comfortably to Jerusalem
and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, her iniquity
is pardoned, for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for
all her sins." We know this man by nature is ruined. Man by nature
is wicked. He cannot and he will not believe
on Christ except God come in power to him and give him life
and understanding and faith. And that's what God has done
to His people. He says, Comfort ye, comfort
ye, who? My people. My people. These are the people who God
calls to faith in Christ. His elect. You this morning who
are believers in Jesus Christ. God commands His preachers to
declare unto you this word. He commands us to comfort His
people. Now, not everyone is to be comforted. If you are lost this morning,
there is no word of comfort to you. There is a word of warning. There is a word of the gospel
that says, to Christ, believe on Christ, trust in Christ, and
only then you will find this comfort to be yours. But to us
who believe, God commands preachers to say this, comfort. Why? Her warfare is accomplished. You were at war with God. You
were not at peace with God. But behold, Christ has made peace
for us. By His blood He accomplished
and paid for all our sins. And this speaks even more so
that He not just paid the debt, but that He doubly paid the debt. He said His death was so sufficient
that you just didn't get by on the skin of your teeth. You're
actually going into the presence of God as holy as God is. That's what His blood accomplished
for His people. That's why there's comfort. Comfort
ye, comfort ye my people, sayeth the Lord. I've received double.
I've received double at the hand of the Lord for all her sins. All your sins have been pardoned. And God says, comfort them. Now,
why would He say that? Why should God command us to
comfort such blessed people? You're blessed. You were chosen
of God. You were redeemed by the blood
of Christ. You were called by the Spirit. You're kept by the
Spirit. You're safe as though you were in heaven itself. You
are as safe as though you were there. Now, why then should such
people need comfort? We need comfort because many
times in our life and our walk in this wilderness, though we
are accepted, though we are loved of God, we walk through this
wilderness and we become very weary. We still have this old
nature of sin abiding in us and with us. And the struggle between
the new nature and the old nature becomes very tiresome. We become
very weary, faint, we become distressed, we become fearful. And this is why God says, comfort
ye, comfort ye my people, because we need it. The cares of this
life and the circumstances of living in this cursed world with
this old nature of sin, the burdens of our flesh, the guilt of our
sin begin to bear down on us and we find ourselves in such
a barren place. Have you not seen that, believer?
This world is a barren place. It's empty. And I think the older
we get, the more we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ,
we begin to see more of that. not less. This world does not
become a happier place for us. It becomes more burdensome the
longer we are here. The more we grow and understand
what God has done for us, we feel as though the weight of
the world is upon our shoulders at times. And what do we do?
We call on Him. We call on God But there are
times where God seems so far from us, as though He is nowhere
to be found. We ask for deliverance, but He
does not come. When we are sick, we beseech
the Lord to heal us, or those that we love, and God tarries. The psalmist in Psalm 13 verse
1 says this, How long? How long will you forget me?
Oh Lord. Forever? Have you ever felt that
way? As though God has abandoned you
here. As though His presence is not
to be felt. The psalmist did. You remember
Lazarus when he was sick. His sisters. This is a man that
God loved. Christ loved Lazarus. Remember,
his sisters sent him that message. Behold, he whom thou lovest is
sick. They appealed to the love of
Christ. And he did love Lazarus. But you remember how he tarried
several days before he came and Lazarus died. And his sisters,
when they met him, they said, Lord, had you been here? Had you been here? He had not
died. They were grieving. They were
hurting. They were suffering. And often
times God's people, they feel this same way. We begin to doubt
and fear. And that's where our text begins
here. Look back in your text here. Go over to verse 27. And
God asks a question. He asks a question of his people.
He says, Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest? And this is what
they were saying. Oh, my way is hid from the Lord. And my judgment, my cause, my
case is passed over from my God. We say, Surely the Lord must
not see my suffering. Surely, he must not see my affliction. Surely, he has hid from me and
has not been mindful of my grief, or my pain, or my tribulations. Oh Lord, why have you not noticed
my tears? Why have you not avenged me of
those who hurt me? Lord, I know you're good. We're
like Asaph. Asaph in Psalm 73. He said this,
I know God's good to Israel. Lord, I know you're good. Don't
you know that? Even when you're suffering, you
know this. You know it to be true. God's good to Israel. I
know God is good to Israel. I know God is good to His people. I know that He gave His only
Son to die in the stead of Israel. I know that Israel is safe. Israel
is to be comforted. And Asaph says, but as for me,
I don't know. I don't know. My foot and I will
slip. This man had thought he had lost
all faith. Many times we doubt the accomplished
work of Christ on our behalf. I don't doubt it for you, Eric.
I don't doubt Christ died for you. Sometimes I tell you when
my sorrows are great, I doubt that it's mine. How could it
be mine and I suffer so greatly? We see how it could be God's
other children, but as for me, I'm sure he's passed by my cause.
Believers, if this is your case, then you should hear this word
from God. Why are you saying that? God
said, why do you speak like that? But we do. We do speak, if we're
honest. If we are honest with ourselves,
we know this is true of ourselves. It was true of Israel at this
time. It was true of David when he said, Where are you? Have
you forgotten me forever? I know this. It is true of God's
people as we suffer in this life. We become weary. We become faint. We become miserable in the things
of this world. God asks. He asked in this chapter,
he asked this twice, if you look up just above this to verse 25,
this is the second time he asked this, he says, whom will you
liken me? Or shall I be equal, sayeth the
Holy One? God asked that twice to Israel.
The reason we are in such misery most of the time is because we
think God to be like ourselves. We assume God to be like ourselves. We assume that He becomes weary
of us even as we have become weary of Him. We think that He will forget
us simply because we often forget Him. We think He will forsake us just like we
have forsaken Him. Now isn't that why we're miserable
anyway? Isn't that the reason for our misery is our sin? Our
sin has caused us great misery. We have forsaken Him. We have
forgotten Him. And then this comes to us and we realize what
we have done and it causes us great sorrow and we thank God
like ourselves. We thank God. And God says, If
you will then but behold me. Isn't that what he said? Look
at verse 26. Lift up your eyes on high. What are you looking
at yourselves for? There's nothing there. Don't
look at yourselves. There's nothing to see. Look
up. Look on high. Look at Me, behold,
He who has created these things and bringeth them out by their
host by number, He calleth them all by names by the greatness
of His might, for He is strong in power and not one faileth. Look to Me. Lift up your eyes.
Look to Me. Look to Me. Believers, behold
the person and power of God And you will be comforted. You
will be comforted. He is nothing like ourselves.
If you want to find any grounds and foundation, it's only in
the person of God. Only in the person of God. Believer,
God tells believers that He is the one that created. Isn't that
right? The world, He created the world.
How did He do it? By a voice, by just speaking. Speaking. And He created the worlds and
sustains them by the Word of His power. But what took more
power than creating the worlds? Creating that new nature inside
of you. It took more power for God to
make a new nature in you than it did creating the worlds. He
said, I created you. Isn't that what He said? He said,
we are His workmanship. Created in Christ Jesus unto
good works. Remember, look up and see. I
chose you and I created you. I made you. I made you holy,
even as I purposed to do. Secondly, God says this. Not
only did He create us, He called them by name. He calleth them
by name. This number, this host, and surely
we could see that in the starry host. God even numbers and names
the stars. Isn't that something? We can't
count them, but He names them all. How much more particular
did He number and name His people? He named you. He called you by
name. He said, I calleth you out by
name. How? By the greatness of My might. The greatness of My power. Jesus
said, My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow
Me. He called us by name and we came
to Him by faith. Isn't that so this morning? Doesn't
He not call you by name? He calls you by name and He calls
you to faith. Believe Me. Trust in Me. And notice this, not one of them
shall fail. You know what He said? He said, look up, see that
I created you, see I called you, and see this, not one failed. There will not be one of His
people, His chosen, His redeemed, that shall not be called. Not
one of them shall fail, no matter their weakness. No matter the
faintness of our heart, we know this, He shall not fail. And because He will not fail,
guess what? You will not fail. You will not fail. Jesus said
this is the Father's will. This is the Father's will, that
of all He had given me, I should lose, how many? How many will
He lose? He said, nothing. Believer, if we are to have any
assurance, any hope of our salvation, any comfort, any comfort of the
Scriptures, it will not come from our works, or our religious
deeds, or how much we know. Listen, it won't even come from
our faith. When you look at your faith,
is it enough? Is your faith enough to sustain
you? No. It makes me weary to look at
my faith. Makes me fearful. Faith is not
it. Faith is necessary, but we know
this, that even our faith is a gift of God. A constant, perpetual
gift. So if you believe this morning,
know this, it is a gift of God this morning, that you should
believe on Him. And so our comfort and our assurance
and our hope come from not this, but what? How do you know that
these things are sure? How would you know except God
tell you? You wouldn't. You wouldn't be
any different than those in the jungle somewhere who have never
heard the word of God, only the word of creation. But we have
heard the Word of God. Look at this. You know this by
the Word of God. Look at verse 28. He said, Why
are you speaking this? 27 He said, Why are you talking?
Why are you so weary? Why are you so faint? Hast thou
not known? Hast thou not heard? Hast thou not heard? What comforts
you when you're weary? What gives us strength? What
gives us encouragement? It is the Word of God. God said
this. Why do you speak like this? Why
are you so fearful and fretful? Have you not known? Have you
not experienced My power and grace? Have I not kept you thus
far? And have you not heard? that
I will keep you? Have you not? Where do you hear?
The Word of God says that. In these times of great sorrow,
in these times of great distress and unbelief, when all around
us is dark, when all of us doesn't make sense. Isn't that what's
scary most is it just don't make sense? We look into our wisdom
and it just doesn't make sense. When you feel God has left you
and you can't see how this thing, whatever it is, is going to work
for your good. Where should you turn? Where
do you go for any assurance or comfort? What foundation can
you find? What refuge can you run to? The
Word of God. David said this in Psalm 119
verse 50, he said, This is my comfort in my affliction, for
thy word has quickened me. This is my comfort in my affliction. Thy Word, Thy Word has quickened
me. That's my comfort. Christ, the
Word. Oh, what peace and comfort, what
joy and peace we neglect when we neglect to read His Word. And not just read it, believe
it. To believe His Word. Have you
not heard? Have you not seen? God's Word. And I'll tell you
this, we're quick when we go to this book. What's the first
thing we normally do in trouble? Who do we look for first? Me. We try to find ourselves
in here. We try to find something that
we can relate to. We're quick to read God's Word
about ourselves. God's Word does say wonderful
things about His church, doesn't it? It says wonderful things,
beautiful things. He says, My church is beautiful. The Song of Solomon is a beautiful
book on Christ and how He views His church. He says, Thou art
altogether fair. Thou art altogether lovely. It
says wonderful things about us, doesn't it? It does say wonderful
things about His elect. But the reality of these things,
the comfort of these things, the assurance of these things
do not rest in us, or our ability to keep these things. But the
comfort rests in God who gave them. They rest in Christ who
purchased them with their blood. They rest in the Spirit who calls
and quickens and keeps us in them. You see, I'm only altogether
lovely because God purposed it. I'm only altogether lovely because
Christ purchased it. I'm altogether lovely because
the Spirit of God has quickened me and keeps me and made me holy. That's the only reason I can
read that and find joy. We're just looking in the wrong
direction. We're looking to self. Look to Christ. The Word of God. The Word of God. The Word of God points us to
look up on high. To look to God. The person and
character of God. And in Him is great strength
for the weary and faint hearted. Now look at your text again.
He says, Hast thou not known and heard? What do you read when
you read the Word of God? Here it is. It's the first thing
He says, that the everlasting God, the Lord. Now you weary,
you fainthearted, listen to this. God is an everlasting God. He's an everlasting God. The salvation of God's elect
is an eternal salvation because it comes from an eternal God. That's the reason you'll make
it. You'll make it because God is everlasting. You'll make it
because God is eternal. All around us is changing. Isn't
that what's causing the affliction, the trouble? It's changing. Something
changed. It wasn't the same. Everything
around us is changing. One minute we're soaring in the
clouds. One minute faith is so rich and so strong that you seem
to smell His presence. You seem to be able to trace
the prints of the nails in His hands and His feet. Oh, what
glories be! What to God, all our days were
so high and so wonderful. But what usually happens immediately
after we experience those high and precious experiences? You
know what happens. We drop off into the pits. Into
the abyss. Isn't that what happened to Paul
when he said he ascended into the heavens and then God sent
a messenger of Satan to buffet him. He was brought down so low,
and that's what changes. We're brought up so high, and
then we're brought into the depths by our own sin. Confronted with
our own ruined nature. Confronted with the world that
hates us. Confronted with Satan to tempt
us. We are constantly perplexed on
every side. Change. But let this be our constant. Let this be our grounds and source
and foundation of all our strength. God does not change. That should settle everything.
That should calm every seed in your heart. Not in your circumstances. Not going to calm your circumstances.
Not going to make everything around you a nice bed of roses. But it will calm your heart.
Behold, I am the Lord, I change not. And what's the result of
that? Therefore, you sons of Jacob
are not consumed. God does not change. Praise God
that His forgiveness His pardon, His grace is not based on our
unchangeableness, because we are always changing. But is forever
the same, because He does not change. Believer, there has never
been a time, I want you to, if you can grasp anything out of
this message, you are in Christ, and you're in trouble and you're
weary, hold on to this. Just grab it with both hands,
and hang on. There has never been a time,
in all eternity that God has not loved you. There has never been a time in
what we call time that God has not ever not loved you. There
will never be a time that God does not love you. One thought. What a thought to the most unlovable. To the greatest of sinners. That the blood of Christ has
always atoned for my sins. Is now atoning for my sins. Cleansing me and will always
cleanse me of all my sins. Do you not see He has taken everything
Every sin you thought to be unimaginable, He's already taken into account.
The everlasting God does not change. Have you not heard this? Have
you not experienced this already? Have you not seen this in time?
I have loved thee with an everlasting love. What's the truth? Therefore with loving kindness
have I drawn thee. Believe? You believe? Are you
weary? That should give you some foundation
to lay down on. I am the everlasting God, the
Lord. Secondly, look at this. He is
never weary or faint. Look at that, He said this, The
everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,
what it, He fainteth not, nor is weary. Praise God He is not
like us, for we do grow weary of Him. The message of God's grace is
at times to us becomes cold and indifferent. Have you not found
that to be so? Isn't it amazing that we should
grow weary of Him? Even though He has given us His
Son to satisfy His justice on our behalf, we still take His
atonement for granted. We just presume upon it and go
about our sin. We still take His atonement for
granted and become faint in our walk, We easily forget Him, we
set His Word aside, His worship, His witness, we forget. But have
you not heard? God, the everlasting God, is
never weary or faint of you. Do you not see, friends, who
is carrying who? You know the difference between
the real God and the false God? A false God has to be carried.
Any God that you have to carry is not God. The God that carries you is God. That's the one carrying you. And you think of all of the weight
and burden of your sin, the burden of your guilt, the weight of
your very nature. Who's holding this up? Who's
carrying you? Who's bearing that weight? Not only your weight, but the
weight of all His people. The everlasting God. He is not
faint. He is not weary. But in great
power He has created us as He has created the world and sustains
them and holds them by the word of His power. Even so does He
sustain and hold you in the faith. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, My
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and
I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man, what? pluck them out of my hand. Don't
you see he has to carry you to have you in his hand? He's carrying
you. To him it is no great weight.
You see that? It's no great weight to carry
you into glory. Because He has all power. He
created us, He redeemed us, He sustains us. He knows our needs and they are
never hid from His sight. He knows our cause and He has
undertaken with all of His might as though your troubles were
the only ones on earth. We in America like to think we're
special. We're individuals, right? We're
endowed with our Creator's certain inalienable rights. And so we
take that to its fullest extreme. But it's only true if you belong
to God. You are special. You're special
to Him in His eyes. So much so that the very hairs
of your head are numbered. Every circumstance is taken into
account. Every need is specifically taken. Every trial is measured out precisely. Brother Don said he's the great
pharmacist. He mixes things together, one
thing alone would kill you. You know, you take a pharmacist,
you take two fake chemicals, one alone would kill you, the
other alone would do nothing. You put them together and they
have a remedy. Too much joy, we'll be too proud. Too much good, and we'd leave
God. Too much sorrow, too much grief,
we would be in despair. But God measures them out. Why? He said, I create things and
I'm not weary. I'm not faint. I'm not faint. He knows you're
down sitting. He knows you're up rising. Every
word on your tongue is known before you speak it. Therefore,
believer, fear not, for I am with thee. Our God never grows
weary of us. but will in His power and grace
keep us. And look at this, He gives us
strength. Look at the next verse here. He says, He giveth power
to the faint, to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Now notice this, He doesn't say
that we don't have any strength, otherwise He wouldn't say He
increases it. Now, at one time we were without strength. Isn't
that what Paul says? We were without when we were
out. Without Christ we were without strength. But now then we have
given the strength of life. When He gives us life, we have
strength. And the strength is this, faith
in Christ. Now that faith may be very weak
as though you feel you have no strength. But listen, God has
promised to everyone He has given faith and strength and life. I will increase it. I will increase
it. This is a promise to someone
who feels like they don't have it. I will increase it. When we are brought low by our
sin and circumstances, we feel as dead. Yet, take heart. Take heart, for even the weakest
of faith is still faith enough to save. Though you have the
faith of what? A mustard seed. The smallest
of herbs. It is sufficient. Why? God gave
it. and God will increase it. And
God promised He will give strength to who? The faint. So then all
who are faint, look to God, look on high, look to Christ who changes
not, who carries thee and is not weary of thee. Now how does
He give strength? Where does it come from? Here
in our text, it comes by way of contrast. Look at these last
two verses and you'll see a contrast. God gives you a contrast here.
He says, even the youth, even the youth shall faint and be
weary, and the young man shall utterly fall, but, here's the
contrast, they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings
as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk
and not faint. By way of contrast, these youthful
men, these young men, these strong men, and then there's another
group of people, those who wait, those who need strength, those
who are without strength. Now these who are youthful, who
doesn't faint, these young men who have strength, these are
those without Christ. These are men that think themselves
that in themselves they are youthful, that they have strength, that
they have some ability, they have some power within themselves
to make themselves acceptable to God. The rebel against God
says, I will not bow to Christ, I will come in my own way, I
will not believe unless I can see something. Asaph said these
same men, he said, they are not troubled like other men. If you
ever notice really religious people and all their symbols
and all their ritualism, they're very confident. They're very
confident people. They're very proud of their religion. They put a lot of work into it.
They put a lot of work in their religion. Paul says, my people,
Israel, I bear them record. They have a zeal for God. just
not according to knowledge. I bear the religious this, they
have a zeal. Went to God, God's people had
such zeal in the truth. But they have a zeal just not
according to knowledge. Why? They think themselves able,
strong, having the ability to please God. They are proud They
are not troubled like other men. They wear pride as a gold chain
about their neck. They set their mouth against
heaven and against God. Man by nature is proud and boasts
against God and instead of begs for mercy, demands salvation.
Isn't this what free will works religion in? As though God is
waiting on them and then as when they do something, God is then
obligated to save them. by what they've done, because
of their will, because of their choice, because of their religious
deed, then God is obligated. What is that but a strong man?
That man doesn't seem to need anything. God's people are conversely different. They're in great contrast. Here's the contrast. But, they
that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. You see, they
have need of strength. They wait on the Lord simply
because they have no strength. They need strength from Him. But I'll tell you this, these
men, these religious men, they're not really strong, they just
seem strong. Look at that text above it again.
It says, "...even the youth shall..." what? "...faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly That's what's going to happen
to religion. That's what's going to happen to false religion.
They will utterly fall. They will utterly fall. But believers, you who are cast
down, you who are cast down, there is a contrast. Do not be
discouraged because of the righteous suffer and the wicked prosper.
Understand the end of the religious, they shall soon fall. But in
verse 31, Behold the hope of the weak and feeble. Contrast... When you're weary, when you're
faint, what do you do? What can you do? What can you do? Remember Israel
when they were brought out, they were delivered from Egypt. The
blood had been shed. The Passover lamb had been slain.
They were delivered from Pharaoh. And God led them to a certain
place at the Red Sea that entangled them. There were mountains and
valleys surrounding them. The ocean was before them. Pharaoh was behind them. What
could they do? Isn't this your condition when
you're weary? What can you do? Here what you
can do, you can wait. You can wait by faith for this
day. They that wait on the Lord, He
shall renew their strength. Isn't that what He did to Israel?
He parted the sea. They went through on dry ground.
He crushed their enemies in one day. One day He crushed their
enemies. And they won the victory in one
day. You suppose any of them thought
of that? Anybody think that that's how
it should be? You think, oh yeah, I know what he's going to do
here. We don't ever know, do we? We don't ever know. But we
wait, yielding that He knows what is best. He knows what is
best. Stay then, believer, wait on
Him in the Word of God In prayer, wait on Him. We must not try
to energize ourselves in the flesh. Isn't that what you do
when you are faint? You try to work yourself up.
Try to get yourself motivated. How does that work out? It lasts for about a minute.
And then you're more weary than when you started. What do you
do? Wait at His feet. And at the
appointed time, He will give you strength. The more we strive
to renew our own strength, the longer we will be in despair. Gilles says this, wait on the
Lord as children wait on their parents to honor them. as servants
wait on their masters to know their pleasure and do their work
and have their wages of them. Wait on Him as beggars at the
door, knocking, waiting, and keeping their place until they
receive the gift. Wait. Wait. Even so, we are to wait on God,
serve Him, honor Him, and beg of Him. Wait for His blessings
of strength to renew our vigor and faith and love and every
grace, and this is His promise, they shall renew their strength. He shall, He shall renew your
strength. You weary? He will renew your
strength. What are you to do? Wait. Wait. And when He renews their strength,
He gives us three ways He does it. Flying, running and walking. Here's the first, flying. He
said, They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they
shall mount up with wings as eagles. Believers that wait upon
the Lord, broken by their weakness, by their sin, waiting in service
and prayer for Him and study in His Word and the Spirit, sometimes
God causes us to soar. gives us the wings of faith and
the wind of the Spirit, and we are carried into His presence.
It's an amazing experience of grace to be in the very presence
of Christ. We mount up with wings as eagles. We're able to see. That's what
an eagle soaring, he can see pretty far, can't he? When we
are close to God, it seems like everything is clear. Everything's
okay, everything's well. We are able to see more of His
grace, more of His love, more of His mercy. We say, wow! That's a great, great time. But not always are we lifted
up on the wings of eagles. Sometimes we're just able to
run. We're able to run. We wait on the Lord to see His
person. And His person causes us to have
strength to run. To fulfill His purpose. To run
the race that is set before us. Seeking the prize, the crown
of life that awaits us. Running. I tell you, I remember
when I was younger, I could run. I could run a long ways. Sometimes I miss being able to
run like that. But you can run like that in
the Spirit of God. Where do you run? You run to
Christ. Isn't that what's causing your
weariness? Is it your absentee from Him? Then He gives you this
burst of strength so as you can run to Him and flee to Him for
refuge and strength. Most of the time, we don't even
feel like we can run, so God says this, if you can't fly and
you can't run, you can walk. Most of our days in the believer's
life are spent walking. Aren't they? Daily, slowly, constantly,
methodically. What? Believing in the Son of
God. Trusting in the Son of God. Oh, if he would just hold my
hand and walk with me, I would not have a care. I would not have one burden that
I couldn't bear. As long as He walks with me. What's that song? He walks with
me. He talks with me. A long life,
narrow life. He walks with me. What a wonderful
thing He gives us. And that strength is to walk
with Him daily. Renewing our strength. I don't
like that. He said renewing. You know what? We just need renewing.
Constantly, perpetually renewing this strength. It's not a one
time thing. Listen, if you're strong now,
wait a minute. Wait a minute. And you'll be
weary. What do you do when you're weary?
What do you say? How do you text this? Run through
it again. Lift up your eyes. Lift up your
eyes. I created you. I called you. And not one of you shall fail.
Why are you saying? Why are you saying this? My way
is hid from the Lord. Why do you say that? Didn't you
know? Haven't you read? Haven't you understand? I am
the everlasting God. I don't change. I created the
earth. I don't faint and I don't get
weary of you. I don't get weary carrying you.
I don't get weary forgiving you. He gives power to the faint.
He increases strength. Those religious men, they'll
fail. Self-righteous, free will works religion, they shall fail.
But, in contrast, you wait on me, you wait on me, and I will
renew your strength. You either fly, you'll run, or
you'll walk, but you'll have strength. Your strength. That's God's message to the weary. Comfort ye, comfort ye my people.
Isn't that a comfort? Even when you've got no strength. You have hope that you soon will
have strength. That's not my word. It's his. Have you not read it? Did you not read it? Did you
not hear it? May God give you faith, and me faith, to believe
that. And we would be so much more happy, so much more content,
if God would give us these things.
