text. The title of the message this
morning is sitting before the Lord sitting before the Lord 2nd Samuel verse chapter 7 verse
18 says then went the king David in and sat before the Lord. And
he said, Who am I, O Lord? And what is my house, that Thou
hast brought me hitherto? Now here in this passage of Scripture
we have the promises of God to David concerning the blessing
of the coming of the Messiah. that He would come and establish
the throne of David forever. At this time, God had blessed
and delivered David from all his enemies. It was at this time
the Lord was turning again Israel to His favor, to His chosen nation. The times of Saul were finished
and now he has set David, the man after his own heart, upon
the throne of Israel. God's man was on the throne and
there was peace. Look at that in verse 1. And
it came to pass when the king sat in his house, and the Lord
had given him rest round about from all his enemies. In this time of peace. David
sat in his house and began to look about at all the blessings
that God had given him. He sat in this sealed house,
this nice home that God had placed him. He'd sat on the throne.
He'd given him peace, victory over all his enemies. And he
contemplated the blessings of God upon his house. And then he turned his eyes toward
the Ark of God. That was in a tent. You remember
that tabernacle was that tent made where the Ark of the Covenant
was to dwell. And he said this in verse 2.
He said, "...that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See
now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the Ark of God dwelleth within
curtains." Now this was a good thought. David's heart, his heart
was toward the house of God. He remembered that Ark of the
Covenant was the only place where God would meet with His people.
It was where God manifested His glory, and David said, how could
I live in such a nice house? And that ark of God should be
out there in the tent, in a tent. And David, you know, he had a
right motive here. He had a right place and concern
for the honor of God. His heart was in the right place.
He was sincere. But David's going to learn a
lesson here. He's learning a lesson. David should learn a lesson not
to run headlong into his project without seeing what God would
say. So he went to the man of God. Now, David, he had this
in his heart. He had good intentions to build
God a house. And so he thought to go and ask
the prophet of God, the man of God, Nathan. David's heart was
right, his motive was right, and he even asked the prophet
of God, he said in verse 3, Nathan, and Nathan said to the king,
Go and do all that is in thine heart, the Lord is with thee.
Nathan seeing the desire of his heart was good, it was a good
motive, it seemed pleasant to Nathan as well as to David. And now it sounds great, and
there's nothing wrong with their heart or their motive, but what
did they forget? They forgot to ask God. They
forgot to talk to God about it. What does God desire? What does
God will? What is God's desire and will
for this? They forgot to hear the Word
of God. We may learn much from this phrase. Be swift to hear
and slow to speak. You heard that? That's a good
phrase. Swift to hear. It's slow to speak. We should
be patient and measured in our responses, because we should
seek not the approval of men, but rather of God. We should
seek what God's Word says. Rather than what men say, I'm
your pastor, listen, you come to me for advice, you ask of
my opinion, I should be swift to hear and slow to speak and
give you a solid answer about anything, except we first consult
the Word of God. What does God say? You may have
a right motive, you may have a right, sincere attitude about
something, but rather, what does God say? What does God's Word
say concerning this? We may learn much from this.
No matter how good the thought or sincere the motive, we are
to bring it before God and see what He would have us to do.
How many times have you desired something sincere and then you
sought God and He destroyed it? What did you get? You got an
answer. You got an answer. The answer was no. We're going
to learn David's answer was no. God said no to his request. Good intentions can cause great
harm if we go against God's Word. Nathan, that night, he went back
and God spoke to Nathan. God told him concerning this
matter and a vision. He said, you go and tell David.
He's not going to build me a house. Listen, I'm going to build him
one. I'll build him a house. God said, I took you from following
the sheep. to lead a nation. I was with
you and cut off your enemies, and remembered it was I that
made you great. You will not build Me a house,
I'll build you one, and listen, I'll establish it forever." Look
at this in verse 11. He says, "...since that time
that I commanded the judges to be over My people, Israel, and
have caused them to rest from all thine enemies." Also the
Lord telleth thee that, listen, He will make thee a house. And when thy days be fulfilled,
and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed
after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will
establish His kingdom. He shall build a house for My
name, and I will establish the throne of His kingdom forever.
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit
iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with
the stripes of the children of men. But my mercy shall not depart
away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before
thee. And thy house and thy kingdom
shall be established forever before thee, thy throne shall
be established forever." What is this? What is God doing? David
want to do something physical carnal for God God said no, but
I'm gonna do something better for you something spiritual This
is nothing but the preaching of the gospel this message right
here from verse 11 to verse 16 is the gospel of Jesus Christ
God was preaching to him the gospel And that's my first point
here. The Gospel preached, the Gospel
that is preached to David, is the same Gospel that is preached
to you. The Gospel of the seed. The Gospel of the seed of David
which is Christ, the Messiah. We know this is not speaking
of Solomon, although he is the seed of David, though God did
establish his throne for a while. We know this is not Solomon because
his throne was divided. His throne was taken. His throne
was not established forever. This is speaking of only the
Lord Jesus Christ that should come from the line of David.
Him will God set up, and His kingdom will God establish. Jesus
Christ, He shall build a house for me, says God. And that this
house, what is this house? We are the house of God. Isn't
that what Peter said? We are living stones that make up a
temple, a spiritual temple. This house is the church, the
promise of the establishment of God's church, the salvation
of the elect. And we that believe on Jesus
Christ are spiritual building, spiritual temple unto God, and
we are built by Jesus Christ. Verse 14, Verse 14, he says,
"...I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit
iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with
the stripes of the children of men." You see, this speaks of
how Christ should be charged with our sins, with our iniquities,
so much so that they became His very own. He unleashed all His wrath and
vengeance upon Jesus Christ so as to pay the debt of our sins. He was beat with the rod of men
and whipped with many stripes. Isaiah 53, verse 5. He was wounded
for our transgression. He was bruised for our iniquity. And listen, here's this word,
chastisement. of our peace was upon him, and
by his stripes we are healed. So when he says, if he commit iniquity, I will
chasten him with the rod of men, he was chastened, he was beaten
with the rod of men under the justice of God. He was wounded,
bruised, And the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. It
was by this one sacrifice for our sins that Jesus Christ sat
down. You remember in the old tabernacle,
those high priests never sat down. They were always working.
But this man, Paul says in Hebrews chapter 10, this man, after he
had offered himself once unto God, sat down forever, expecting
till his enemies be made his footstool. He hath perfected
forever them that are sanctified." Our Lord Jesus Christ, by His
one offering, has sat down forever. David desired to build God a
house of wood and stone and brick and mortar. God said, No, I will
build you a house not of earthly materials, but of precious things,
as the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son. If you had all the resources
of the world at your disposal, and God through His Son is of
far greater value than all the things of this world. If you
could do anything for God, what would that be? How great would
that be? If you had all of the things
and all of the power to do anything for God, what would that add
to God? Nothing. Nothing. But listen, God Most surely can
add to you and he has by giving his son to build an eternal home
Jesus said I go and prepare a place for you and if I go When I go
and prepare a place for you I will without a doubt come again and
receive you in my father's house or many mansions if it were not
so I would have told you and were the whole realm of nature
mine, that were a present far too small. Love so amazing, so
divine, demands my soul, my life, my all. Let us realize that this
One that was spoken of here to accomplish all these things is
Jesus Christ who is now seated on the throne of God, it is the
one that we have come to worship even this morning, the only Potentate,
King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. That's who we worship. That is
our God. That is our King, our Savior. Oh, come, let us adore Him. Let us adore Him, Christ the
Lord. Now, upon hearing this wonderful Gospel, that's what
David heard. He heard of the Gospel of Christ
coming. He heard of the establishment of the salvation of his soul
forever, that his seed should come and establish a house so
much larger than any house David could build, an eternal home.
And upon hearing this, what did David do? That's the second point
is, David sat down before the Lord. upon hearing this message david
sat down he said the key david sat down before the lord and
said who am i all lord god and what is my house that that was
brought me unity when we hear the blessing of god concerning
jesus christ our king is high and lifted up and through him
alone we have hope what can we do but sit down before Him. To bow ourselves before the presence
of God. Nothing in my hands I bring,
simply to thy cross I cling. Naked come to thee for dress,
helpless Look to thee for grace. Foul I to the fountain fly. Wash me, Savior, or I die. Isn't this what happens when
we hear the gospel? What do you do? But fall down
at the feet of the Savior and worship Him. Isn't that what
happened every time the Lord healed Those people, what did
they do? They bowed themselves, they fell
on their face and worshipped Him. They gave thanks to Him. This is what David did. Let us
come now then at this time, even after hearing this message that
rings in our hearts and ears, let us come first of all with
empty hands. This is how we should come, this
should be our goal every time we worship God is to come and
sit as beggars in need of mercy, hoping only that God will fulfill
His promises. And so the first thing, the first
way we come, how we come and sit before the Lord is this.
How do we come before the Lord? There are three things I want
us to consider this morning as we desire. Is this your heart's
desire to come before Him? To sit before His feet? You remember
Martha. She was cumbered about with many
things. She was cumbered about with much
serving. And it was Mary. She said, Well,
Lord, don't you know I need help? Get her up. She was sitting at
the feet of Christ. And He said, No, because Mary
hath desired the better thing. What? To sit at the feet of Christ. Do you desire to sit at the feet
of Christ? Listen, there are three things
that every believer should know about sitting before the Lord.
First of all, to sit before the Lord, you must come without work.
You must come without work. When you are sitting, are you
working? You can't sit and work. You can't
sit and work. Sitting is resting, is resting. There's no work involved in sitting. To sit intimates no labor or
work. The high priest that worked in
the temple never sat down. We said that just a minute ago.
They daily ministered to those sacrifices that could never take
away sin. Now listen, if you're striving
to sin, you're working too hard. If you're trying to work for
your salvation through your offerings, through your sacrifices, listen,
they can never take away sin. They can't do it. This is why
there is no peace in work's religion, because work is never finished. You see, they never come and
sit before the Lord, because they're always busy. They're
always busy about saying they're doing His business, but refuse
to sit and bow and rest before Him. But all who have come to
God by Jesus Christ may come and sit down. Why? Because He
sat down. Because He sat down. This man, after he had offered
one sacrifice for sin, sat down. Why did he sit down? For by his
one offering he hath perfected. If something's perfect, you don't
need to add to it. I've often used the illustration
of that Sistine Chapel. You know, you've got that beautiful
painting on the ceiling. I look up there and I say, you
know what, that could use some work. going to get a scaffold
and go up there and see if I can't put some stick figures in there
because this just needs some work. You'd ruin it. And so it is when a man puts
his work to the work of Christ. He ruins it. He's not trusting
Christ. He's not trusting that Christ
has finished the work. He thinks he must add something
to the work of Christ. There's no rest in that. There's
no hope in that. That's not sitting before the
Lord. For the believer in Jesus Christ, there's no more work
to be done for salvation. No more work to be done for salvation.
Jesus Christ has done all the work of our righteousness, our
reconciliation, our redemption, our sanctification. Therefore,
you should, believer, you should come and sit down. Sit down and
rest. Sit before the Lord in peace
without work. Why? Because our high priest
said, it is finished. It is finished. Believer, what
does God require of you to come? Nothing. Do you not see how wonderful
that is? He requires nothing. Why? You have nothing. What could
you come with if you wanted to come with something? What do
you have to bring before God so that you may sit in peace
with God, that you may commune with God? What do you have to
bring? You have nothing to bring. Therefore He said this, all is
ready, come, come and sit, come and feast, come and welcome before
the throne of mercy. That's a good word, isn't it?
Mercy. If you deserve to come, then
it's not mercy. You see, we don't deserve to come. That's why we
need mercy. Mercy. His blood has paved the way into
the very presence of God, therefore you may come boldly before the
throne of grace to find help in time of trouble. The Apostle
says in Ephesians 3, in whom we have boldness and access. So many people have boldness
but no access. And the sad thing is, you have
access, you don't have boldness. You who have access should have
boldness. Religions and nature tell us
to come to God by deeds and works, but God says to come without
them. What do you require? Isn't that
the proof of man's depravity, that God requires nothing of
you, and yet you still refuse to come with nothing? You still
demand that God accept something from you. What does hinder you to come
to God? Nothing, because you have nothing. He requires nothing. He's provided everything, and
yet you still won't come. We are to come to Him by the
Son. We are to come to Him by the Son, and we are to come as
sons to a Father. How does a son come to a father? Freely. Freely. It doesn't matter who that father
is. If he's a loving father to his
son, that son will have access to him no matter what. I remember that picture just,
when I come to think about this, not to say these people were
believers or anything like that, just the picture here. Remember
the picture of John F. Kennedy sitting at that presidential
desk, and you'll notice his son was playing underneath that desk. He was playing while he had access. All the generals and dictators
of the world must require great effort to get into there, but
not him. No, he came in and played in
his father's presence. That's what it is to sit before
God. To sit before Christ is to come and fall down at his
feet as a son. Fall down at your father's feet. We are come, not by works, but
by the precious blood of the Son of God that was once offered. Revelation 3, 21 says, To Him
that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my Father's throne. I know it's more than this, but
it's like you're sitting on His lap. It's more than that, you're in
Him. You're in union with Him to sit on that throne, so that
none could snatch you away. Sit. And we who are believers, we
have overcome. We have overcome. That's who
gets to sit, those who have overcome. Now how did you overcome? I told
you you had no ability to overcome, you have no work to provide.
What is this that you overcome? You overcome because He overcome. You overcame because Christ overcame. You remember David when he fought
Goliath? David went out there with that one stone in his sling
and he killed the giant. But yet the Scripture said this,
Israel won the battle. Now how'd that happen? David
represented all Israel. How did you win the battle? Christ
represented us. He won the victory. He crushed
the head of the serpent that bruised His heel, and He overcame. You are of God, John says, little
children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is
in you. than he that is in the world.
Because of Jesus Christ, none of our enemies have overcome
us, nor will they ever overcome to ruin our souls. All who are
in Christ are safe as Noah was safe in the ark. We are safe
as the firstborn in the house with the blood. And only those
outside of Christ should have cause to fear. Listen, if you've
not come and sat before Christ without works, you have every
cause to fear the wrath of God. You have every cause to fear.
You unbeliever must stand before the justice of God, but those
who are in Christ may sit comfortably, peaceably in the presence of
God. We may come and sit with no work,
no merit, but only that of Christ. The second thing to do is when
we come and sit is this. We must come and sit patiently. How often do your kids come in
and you're busy about something and they're not patient to wait?
They have access to you. They come to you. They want to
ask you to do something that only you can do, but then they
turn around and go and do it themselves. No. To sit before the Lord is
something that we must do patiently. We must come without work and
we must come and wait on Him. To sit before the Lord is to
wait on the Lord. This is the most difficult thing
for believers to do is wait before the Lord to hear His Word. Nathan and David ran before God,
and they were wrong. You remember when David ran ahead
of God and didn't ask about the ark? Remember that? He went and made a new cart,
got all the singers together, He didn't ask how he should carry
that ark. He didn't ask God. And you remember
Uzzah died because of that. Remember Sarah. She didn't wait. She had the promise of God. That
God would give them a son. And what did she do? She used
reason. She said, well, God's going to give
us a son. He hasn't given me one yet, so I guess we'll just
take Agar. We'll just do it this way. Rebecca did the same thing
with Jacob. He said, well, let's trick your
father. No. Christian, if we are sitting
before the Lord and petitioning His grace for help and have no
answer, what are you to do? Stand still. You have no answer? You come
with no work? You sit before God? You have
no answer? What do you do? Wait. Wait. God moves men to accomplish His
will, therefore we should bear patiently the cross that is given
to us. What is that song, Be Still My
Soul? The Lord is on my side. Bear patiently the cross of grief
and pain. Leave to thy God to order and
provide. In every change He faithful will
remain. I know that this world is moving
and so fast and it strives to push us along. But believer,
let us go against the hurry of the world. Let us take time to
seek His face. Take time. I know, listen, I know you're
rushed. I know that time, you think that I'm going to get to
my this and get to that. When we do that, what are we
doing with this business of sitting before the Lord? Fitting it in,
aren't we? We'll say, I'll fit it in when
it's convenient for me. Guess what? It's never going
to be convenient. You'll never find that convenient time. If
that time is not taken, you will never do it. If that time is
not set aside, you will never read, you will never study, you
will never worship if it is not taken. The kingdom of God suffereth
violence, and the violent taketh it by force. And so then when we sit, we sit
and wait upon God. We wait. We must sit and be patient. Proverbs 20 and 22 says, "...say
not thou, I will recompense evil, but wait on the Lord, He shall
save thee." Listen, the Lord knows your hurts, your pains,
for it is His hand that placed them there. Let us in our times of grief
then sit and wait on Him to deliver us. Wait on the Lord, David says. Keep His way. And He shall exalt
thee to inherit the land, when the wicked are cut off, thou
shalt see it. Bear with patience the cross
given to you, for it is a cross that you must bear. And we must
not resist our cross, but rather look to God for strength to carry
the load. Remember, who's carrying you
through this? Who's doing the heavy lifting
here? You? No. We train up our children. We try. We struggle. We work. A lot of effort in that. A lot
of work into that. But really, who's doing the work?
If anything good comes of our children, who's doing the work?
God is. If anything comes of us, who's
bearing us on His shoulders? It's Christ that bears you. He
bears you. And all that you bear, He bears
it. Established in your hearts believer
to ever wait upon the Lord now once you know this waiting is
not idleness Waiting is not sitting in your closet. That's not waiting
as laziness and slothfulness Waiting is not idleness. We are
to wait before the Lord in active worship witness and his word
That's what it is to wait on the Lord. It is to wait patiently,
hearing His Word, reading His Word, seeking His face constantly. We must be actively engaged in
worship. Listen, both public and private. Public worship is to hear the
preaching of the Word and have fellowship with believers, what
we're doing now. This is it. What are you doing? You're not
sitting before me. You're sitting before Him. You should be. You
should be waiting on Him to speak to you. Do you wait on Him to
speak for you? Is that what you're here for?
I pray it is. Please, please let that be the case that you
are wanting to hear His voice. To wait on Him in public worship. And worship not only in public,
but in private by prayer and devotion. How much time do we
spend in prayer? How much time do we spend reading? I suppose you think a pastor
sits behind the desk and reading becomes so easy. Reading this
Word is easy. That's just something that I
must spend the week and blessings pour out of heaven and my soul
is lifted up to glory. Whether I in the body, I know
not which, but I must... No, no, it's a task, it's a burden
at times. It's a struggle to read. because
of this old flesh, this nature and everything that draws me
away from it. Friends, we must do it. If we're to sit before
the Lord, waiting patiently on Him, we must read and study and
pray. Oh my, pray! How often are our
prayers so fast and fleeting that we just do it on the run?
Like we drive through window. They got that in false religion,
drive through prayer. You drive in your car and you
have somebody pray with you. I know that short prayers are
necessary. Pray without ceasing. So I know
that you don't spend long hours praying without ceasing. But
there should be some time where we get alone with our Lord in
the closet. This is worship. This is what
it is to sit before the Lord. And also to witness, actively
spreading the Word of God. This is our business as we wait
on the Lord to hear His voice and answer our prayers. We should
be preaching His Gospel, not alluring them with false methods
of false religion, but witnessing of the grace of Christ in word
and in deed. And we should seek out opportunity.
Do we do that? Do we pray for opportunity? to witness. And when opportunity
comes, do we neglect it? To wait on the Lord is to actively
engage in witness and also His Word, to be faithful in reading
and studying His Word. Not just waiting for Wednesday
or Sunday. Look, if you wait for Wednesday or Sunday to open
this book, you're not waiting on Him. Not waiting on Him. That's not
sitting before Him. And thirdly, to sit before the
Lord is to sit in humility. Humility. Look back at what David
said in your text here. He sat before the Lord, and notice
this, he sat with great humility. He said, Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You
have brought me hitherto? Who am I? What is my house? To come boldly before the Lord
is not to come irreverently, is not to come proudly to command
of God. We do not tell God to give us
our portion. That's what we did as a prodigal,
isn't it? The prodigal said, give me what
you owe me. Oh, but the prodigal returned
and said, oh, that I should be made a servant in the house of
my Father. We don't come arrogantly. We come, not proudly. We come, men outside of Christ,
they demand the love and mercy of God. Lost men, they demand
that God give them everything. They say, God must love me. He
made me, He must love me. No. No. Men outside of Christ
say that God is unrighteous, unjust, and unfair to love one
and reject another before they were born. They think that God
is unjust to have mercy upon whom He will have mercy, and
whom He will, He hardeneth. But a person who is aware of
his sin, his unrighteousness and unworthiness and guilt, thinks
altogether differently. Those who are quickened by the
Spirit of God, we see our need of a Savior. We come not demanding of God. But we come seeking mercy. We
come not by merit, but by grace. When sinners are guilty by birth
and by choice, when we hear the Word of God through Jesus Christ
that there is mercy, how do we come? We come like this. Who
am I? And what is my house? that you would bring such grace
to me, that you would preach such a gospel as this to me. Who am I that I should seek Christ? Who am I that I should be loved
from God from all eternity? Who am I that you would pass
by others and choose me and save one who is most unworthy? We
are like Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth, that man, that
son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, who was lame on his feet from
when he was little, the nurse fell. A fall crippled him. A fall crippled him. And you
remember when David ascended to the throne, he had the right
to kill all of the sons of Saul so that they should not usurp
his throne. But what did he do for Mephibosheth?
He said, Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son
of Saul, was come to David, he fell on his face and did reverence. What did he do? He sat before
the key. He fell before the key. And David said to Mephibosheth,
and David said, Mephibosheth. And Mephibosheth answered and
he said, Behold thy servant. And David said unto him, Fear
not. For I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's
sake, and will restore thee all the land that saw thy father.
And thou shalt eat bread at my table continually." And what
did he say? Well, it's about time. I've been waiting on you. Not
what he said. He said, Who am I and what is
my house? He said, What is thy servant? that thou shouldest
look upon a dead dog as I am. When we were first fetched by
the grace of the King, we said this, Behold thy servant, and
what did he say to us? Fear not, for I will show thee
kindness for Christ's sake. That's what our Father said when
He fetched us, when He brought us into His presence. We bowed
ourselves in guilt and shame and He said, I will show thee,
I will show thee kindness, not for your sake, not for your merit,
I will do it for the Son's merit, for the covenant that I made
with your Redeemer. What a blessing! What joyous
and gracious words of our God! And this is our response, what
is thy servant that you should look upon me as a dead dog? Our house was fallen, our race
was lost, we deserved hell, yet God gave us mercy. I stand amazed
in the presence. As I now sit before Jesus Christ,
I sit without words. I have nothing to offer. I sit
only because He called me. Only because He promised to provide
everything I need so I can rest before Him. I sit before Him,
waiting upon Him. I don't know how many times you've
heard a man say, I've come to God, but He hasn't spoken to
me. Keep coming. Wait. Sit down and wait. Keep coming and hearing the gospel
and wait on Him. He will hear you. He will answer
you. He will provide for all who come
to God by Christ. He will not cast you out. And we come with humility. We
stand amazed in presence and wonder how He could love me,
a sinner unclean. How marvelous, how wonderful
my song shall ever be. how marvelous how wonderful is
my savior's love i got one more that i just added this this like
yesterday evening and this is come expect when you sit before
god you should expect you should expect i hope that children when they
come to me you know what they expect that's what they expect they
expect to hear that word every time That's why they don't come
most of the time. But when we come to our God,
we should expect some things from Him and sit before Him.
We should expect to be accepted. Why? Because He said you are
accepted. We should expect to be loved.
I have loved thee with an everlasting love. We should expect to be
kept by the power of God. Isn't that what Peter said? That
we are kept by the power of God unto salvation ready to be revealed
at the last time. We should expect to be received
into eternal glory upon our death as we sit before the Jordan and
wait to cross over. We should expect to be received
into glory. Why? Because Christ has finished
the Word. Expect trouble. That's what you should expect.
When you sit before God, everything in the world is going to want
your attention. Have you not found that to be
true? How many obstacles did it take for you to get here this
morning? How many obstacles? Many. The biggest obstacle is right
here, myself. Myself is the biggest obstacle
for me. But yet you have many obstacles. They are all trying
to vie for this affection. You should expect that. You should
expect that when you sit before the Lord. And you should expect to be fed.
You should expect Him to feed you. To feed you with this. Did you expect that this morning?
Or did you doubt? Did you only wish to be fed?
You should expect to be fed. God will feed you with His Word. Isn't that what He did for Mephibosheth?
When Mephibosheth sat at that table every single day, do you
think he ever went without? He never went without. And when
we sit before God, listen, we will never do without. We will
have everything we need. Everything we need. May God give
us grace like David to sit before the Lord. Sit without work. Sit
waiting. Sit in humility. And sit expecting
God to do what He said He would. May God give us grace to do that
continually. Let's stand and be dismissed
in prayer.
