Psalm chapter 40. And we'll be looking at verses
1-4 this evening. The psalmist says, I waited patiently
for the Lord, and He had climbed His ear unto me and heard my
cry. He brought me up also out of
an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a
rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in
my mouth, even praise unto our God. Many shall see it and fear,
and shall trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh
the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn
aside unto lies." The title of the message this evening is,
The Patience, the Victory, and the Song of Christ. And those
are going to be my three main points this evening. The patience
of Christ, the victory of Christ, and the song of Christ. And that
just goes to show you that this whole psalm is prophetic. It is a prophetic psalm written
by David, but really should be understood as the very words
of Christ. These are the very words of the
Lord Jesus Christ. And how do we know this? How
do we know this is a psalm of Christ? Well, I'm just going
to give you this, but if you go down to verse 6. Look at verse
6 and read this with me. Sacrifice and offering thou didst
not desire. Mine ears hast thou opened or
digged. This speaking of a servant. You
remember that servant that had his ear dug out with an awl. That bond slave. And he said,
burn offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then
said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book, it is written of
me, I delight to do thy will, O my God. And we know this is
speaking of the Lord because Paul in Hebrews quotes this passage
of Scripture. If you go over to Hebrews chapter
10, Hebrews 10, Paul the Apostle
quotes this passage of Scripture in verse 6. He says, "...in burnt
offerings and sacrifices for sin, thou hadst no pleasure."
What is that? This is speaking of the law.
God, by those sacrifices, by those offerings of the law, had
no pleasure in the blood of bulls or of goats. Those sacrifices
were only given as a picture, a type of how God should put
away sin by the sacrifice of His Son. Therefore, He says,
then said I, lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written
of Me to do Thy will, O God. We know this is speaking of Christ,
that He came into the world to do the will of God. And what
was the will of God? In that same chapter in Hebrews,
in verse 10, here's the will of God that He came to do. By the which will we are sanctified. That word means made holy. By the will of God that Christ
came to do, He has made His people sanctified, set them apart and
made us holy before God. How? Through the offering of
the body of Jesus Christ. How often? Once for all. You see, those sacrifices were
offered every day. Those sacrifices were offered
every year. And they took away not one sin. Why? God wasn't pleased with
them. So how then should God remove our sin? By the offering
of Jesus Christ. How often should Christ offer
Himself? Once. This is mentioned, I don't
know how many times, in Hebrews 9 and 10. Once, in the end of
the world, once hath Christ come in, He hath obtained eternal
redemption by the one sacrifice of Himself. Now then, look at your psalm
and see this in the light of the Holy Spirit. This is what
the Spirit intended for us to see, is the words of Him who
said, Lo, I come to do Thy will. Now then, let's see what He does
to fulfill this will. It's written for us in this psalm.
First of all, He says this, I waited patiently for the Lord. This was the will of God concerning
Christ that He wait on the Lord. Now see, the Lord Jesus, before
this, before He came into the world and had to wait patiently
on the Lord, where was He? Where was Christ before He came
into the world? The Scriptures are plain. He
is the eternal Son of God. He was with the Father. He was one with the Father. In Proverbs chapter 8 it says
this, before the earth was, I was set up. I was in the bosom of
the Father before the world was, before anything was created.
Our Savior Christ, the Lord, was in glory. He was omnipotent,
ruling over all things, receiving the praise of His angels constantly. And so, we may now see Christ,
our Savior, say these words as He was made flesh. You see, as
God, He waited on nothing. As God, He always fulfilled His
will. Whatever He desired, He did.
In heaven and in earth. Our God is in the heavens and
has done what? Whatsoever He had pleased. He had not waited
on anything. And yet now we see Him in His
condescended state. We see the Son of God as He was
made flesh and dwelt among us, that He Himself must have waited
on God. You see, when the fullness of
the time was come, God sent forth His Son. made
of a woman, made under the law, to do what? To redeem them that
were under the curse of the law. And the Son of God being found
in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself. What did that mean,
He humbled Himself? It means He subjected Himself. As I read in that Scripture,
He had digged my ear. He hath made Him to be a bondservant
of God. That's what the Scripture in
Isaiah 42 says. He said, Behold, my servant in
whom my soul delighteth. Christ came to be a servant,
the servant of God, so that by His faithful obedience, this
is the purpose, by His faithful obedience, He should, by His
patience, obtain for us an everlasting righteousness. Consider this, believer, in our
text, that our Lord was our representative when He did this. He was our
representative man. He waited patiently on God all
of His days. And He fulfilled perfect righteousness,
always waiting on God. This is clearly seen when he
was tempted by Satan. If you remember, he was starving
for 40 days. Forty days, none of us can fathom
the amount of starvation that our Lord's body endured. It was
a miracle of divine preservation that He did not kill over because
He was starving to death. And every fiber of His being
wanted bread, cried out for bread, every fiber. And yet the Lord
Jesus Christ, our Savior, when tempted of Satan, if thou be
the Son of God, make this stone to be bread. And he said, man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God. What's he doing? He's yielding
to God. He would not make it bread, though
he could. He would not do it so that as
your representative, he might obtain righteousness. That's what he was doing. He
was waiting patiently. What you and I should have done,
He did. That's what He did. You and I should have waited
on God. We should have expected everything to come from God and
waited patiently for it. We've not waited patiently for
anything. Can you say this? I waited patiently on the Lord.
Really? No, you can't. I'm patient so long as I get
what I want. Yeah, I'm patient. So long as I have it now, I'm
patient. But no, this is the Lord Jesus
Christ. This is what He came to do. He established our righteousness. Think about His judgment. How
often did our Lord defer judgment? He who is judge of all. He deferred
judgment even in the minor things of dealing with a man's property.
He would not even so much as judge that one instance of property
between a man and his brother. He deferred it. Not that he didn't
have the divine right to judge everything. Yet, he said, I came
not to judge or condemn. I came to save. That's what I
came to do. Therefore believer because of
his patience you should you should rejoice in this I waited patiently
on the Lord That's his word in Order to merit our righteousness.
He waited patiently on the Lord That was the result of and what
was the result of this well because he had to wait on the Lord I
tell you he endured great troubles and Our Lord endured every hardship
that you and I endure. He tenfold endured everything
we did. Much more. And so we listen to
this. He cried unto God. Now that's something. Our Lord and Savior waited patiently. And what did this do? It caused
Him to cry out to God. And you know what happened? God
heard Him. That's good news. God heard him. He said in our
text, he inclined his ear and heard my cry. What a lesson for us. If our Lord waited patiently,
is this not a word to us to wait patiently? He who is our Lord
is a servant greater than his Lord. Do you expect that everything
should roll smoothly with you? It didn't roll smoothly with
Him. How do you expect it should roll
smoothly with you? He endured the contradiction
of sinners against Himself. Do you expect that we should
have any better fortune with them, with the world? Do you
think we should have any better path with the wicked of this
world? No! They hated Me, they will
also hate you. That's what He said. What a word. We need to wait patiently then.
Should we not learn to wait patiently? We should. Wait on the Lord.
He waited, so we should wait. And you know what? He cried,
we should cry. And you know what? God heard
him, he'll hear you. That's the result of this righteousness.
This imputed righteousness is righteousness that He made for
us, inclines God's ear to hear our cries. He does. He hears our cries. Believer, are you made to see
then your lowest state? Are your foes both without and
within? Are they not constantly compass
you about? Our Lord says, for innumerable
evils compass me about. Do they not compass you about?
You bet they do. Are they always not pressing
and overwhelming your soul? How often are you overwhelmed? How often? Every day? Yeah. Yes. Wait on God. It's not a complex word, is it?
These are not complex thoughts. You don't have to be the greatest
of theologians to understand. Wait. Wait. Wait on my God. Look not to the
arm of flesh in whom there is no help. Do you realize that? That all the people surrounding
you, you depend on, are of no value to help you. They are just
as frail and as weak as you are. Put not your trust in man or
self. But in God, who knows your need,
who hears your cries, and will answer in due time. Wait. Over to Romans chapter 5. And this is why you should wait.
This is why you should wait. Romans chapter 5. Because of
what Christ done in the flesh by being patient. Listen to this.
being justified by faith. Because of Christ, because of
His faith. You get that? Why you are justified
is because of His faith. You got it? You and I are justified,
not because of anything we have done. All we have done is sin. All we have done is unrighteous. But our justification is based
on what He has done on His faith. Therefore, being justified by
faith. You know this, I don't have any
faith in my faith. You see, my faith is constantly
fluctuating. I have no faith in my faith and
my faith doesn't justify me. I hear people talking a lot about
just having faith. Just having faith. Faith in who? Faith in what? Because your faith is just about
as good as anybody else's faith. And there's no hope in your faith.
But rather in the object of your faith. Jesus Christ, and having
received this. Now, this is what our faith does,
is receive what His faith did. What His faithfulness did, we
receive it. You see, I'm justified because
by grace I have been given faith to receive what He did. And having faith which is not
a mere act of the will, but rather the work of God. I know your
faith is fluctuating, it's weak. But I don't want you to underestimate
it. Because it is a work of God. Not everyone has faith in Christ. Jesus said that, this is the
work of God that you should believe on Him whom He has sent. And
this gift of God's grace, after we are quickened by grace in
spiritual life, our faith now looks to His faith. All my faith
rests in His. So when I read, I waited patiently
on the Lord, you see what my faith does? My faith automatically
looks to Him. Because I've never waited patiently.
All I've done is sin. He waited patiently. And because
he waited patiently, listen to what Paul says, therefore being
justified by faith, we have peace with God. Through our Lord Jesus
Christ. In whom also we have access. You got that? Access. Instant
access. You see, Christ had instant access.
When He waited patiently and He cried unto the Lord, He had
immediate access. You know what you have? Immediate
access. You have instant access to God. When? Always. Always. No exception. But I've sinned. That's not my righteousness.
My righteousness has nothing to do with me. It has everything
to do with Him. My acceptance with God has nothing
to do with me. It has everything to do with
Him. And so long as my faith is looking to Him who waited
patiently, I know I have access. The moment you take your eye
off of His patience and put it on your own, you have no access.
You feel like you have no access. Again, what does your feelings
have to do with it? Nothing. Not one thing. You have access. Our righteousness came by Christ,
by His faith and faithfulness. Believer, Christ's merits of
righteousness alone, I want you to get this, would not be sufficient
enough. His merits of righteousness alone
on our behalf is not sufficient. That's why we have a second verse.
That's why we got the next part. Look at this. Go back to your
text. Go back to your text. I waited patiently, there it
is, Him fulfilling our righteousness. Now then, secondly, He brought
me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay and
set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. So Christ's meritorious
righteousness alone would not be sufficient. Why? Because sin
must be dealt with. You cannot take His righteousness
and put it on an unrighteous man without dealing with his
sin. Why? Because then you defile the righteousness.
I like to look at, you see those coal miners. They're covered
in black from the top of their head to the bottom of their foot
is nothing but soot and dirt. Would you take a linen cloth
and put it on one of them without washing? No, it would dirty the
linen. That's what our sin would do. It would sully the righteousness
of Christ. But this is what he had to do.
He had to also descend even lower than just being a man. He brought me out of a horrible
pit. See this, that Christ, in order
to obtain our salvation, must have been lowered into the horrible
pit of our sin. At this time that Christ is speaking,
He is upon the cross being crucified in body. It was His soul that
was brought down to hell. He was made to be sin for us. He bore our sins in His own body
on the tree. And this again as a representative
man. He must pay for sin. He must. Why? We couldn't. By no means could we ever ascend
out of this horrible pit. If God were to cast us, this
is why hell is eternal, because there's no way out. There's no
way a man could merit by his suffering a way out. And so our Lord Himself, in love,
descended into the very pit of hell for us, bearing our sins. He says, for innumerable evils
have encompassed me about. Look at that in verse 12. Mine
iniquities have taken hold upon me, and I'm not able to look
up there more than the hairs of my head. Therefore, my heart
faileth me. These are the words of Christ
by prophecy. My iniquities. It's not only
the evils encompassed him about as though our sins were put on
him. He said they were even his own. It's a mystery. So he's not able to look up. And God declares that by his
descending, He has obtained peace. This is what it was for. Because
God could not be at peace with us except our sins be punished. The Word of God is not ambiguous
about this. Listen, He brought me up. out
of a horrible pit. This is the victory. This is
the victory of Christ. The patience of Christ was to
supply righteousness. The victory of Christ is that
He was brought up out of a horrible pit. He was brought out of the
horrible pit. Scripture is not ambiguous. He
accomplished salvation. This is the gospel message that
we preach. Salvation accomplished. Not salvation
possible. Salvation finished. Salvation
accomplished by the work of Christ. And notice this in your text.
He set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. What is
this speaking about? It means that when Christ died,
When He was brought out of the horrible pit, God raised Him
from the dead and sat Him on the throne of heaven. He established
His throne. He established the dominion and
success of Christ forever. He raised Him from the dead.
Go over to Acts chapter 4. You know, the theme of Acts is
the resurrection. If you want to know the theme
of every message the apostles preached in Acts, it's this,
God raised Him from the dead. God raised Him from the dead.
Look at verse 22 of Acts chapter 2. You men of Israel, hear these
words, Jesus of Nazareth, the man approved of God among you
by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst
of you, as you yourselves also know. Him being delivered by
the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by
wicked hands have crucified and slain." Listen, "...whom God
hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it
was not possible that he should be holding of it." Why are men
in the grave? Because of sin. But you see,
because sin was removed, because God brought him out of the horrible
pit, God must have raised him from the dead. And look at this
in verse 36, therefore. Let all the house of Israel know
assuredly, without a doubt. Listen, you
should know this assuredly, without a doubt. that God, that this
God hath made that same Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord
and Christ. As soon as God raised up His
Son, He ascended Him into glory and sat Him down on the throne
of God. And God, you remember this rock,
which is Christ, was laid from eternity. God purposed this from
eternity. He said, I, in Zion, I've laid
a foundation for a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone,
and he that believeth shall not make haste. But when Christ finished this
work, that's what God purposed. And we have to look at things
in time because I can't see things as God sees them in the ever-present
now. But as we look at this, God purposed
it. And as Christ finished what God
purposed, God said, that's Lord, that's the Christ. And He set
His throne. And no one can move it. No one
can move it. God established that throne because
the Lord, by His victory, obtained and merited the dominion of heaven
and earth. In Revelation, when the Lamb
came, what did He do with the Book? He took it. Now, nobody else could look on
it. Nobody could look on it, much less touch it. And Christ
not only looked on it and touched it, He took it. Why? Because
He deserved it. He deserved it. God gave it to
Him because He deserved it. And now He sits on the throne
because He deserves it. And now He is Lord over all.
All power is given unto Me in heaven and earth. Because He's glorified now, You've
given the Son of Man power over all things. over all flesh. You remember that parable of
the man who found the treasure in the field? Our Lord said a
man found treasure in the field. And he sold all that he had.
And you know, he didn't just buy that little plot of land
where the treasure was. What did he do? He bought the
whole field. You see what Christ has done?
For you He has bought the whole field, and now He is Lord and
Ruler over all creation." For what? For the treasure. For you. So He can get you. He bought
the whole thing. You are His peculiar treasure.
Believers see what great price Christ paid. to buy the whole
field. And God has established His dominion
and power, and now He rules over all things. Now He is risen, and even so,
all of His elect are established in Him." You see, this is the
surety of your salvation, that He sits on the throne. If He failed to sit on the throne,
you have no hope. We have no hope. We've met in
vain. There's nothing for us. If Christ
is not risen, then you are yet in your sins, and our faith is
vain, our preaching is vain. But we know this, He is risen. He's risen. And He rules. Why? Because He was victorious.
And thirdly, look at this. He said, and He hath put a new
song in my mouth, even praise unto our God. Now what is this? What is this new song that is
put into the mouth of Christ? Listen, it is the gospel. This new song is the gospel message. He says this in Psalm 22, I'll
read it to you, Psalm 22 and verse 22. He said, I will declare
thy name unto my brethren. in the midst of the great congregation,
will I praise Thee." See, this is a song of praise in His mouth.
What is it? It is to declare His gospel to
His brethren. That's the song that's in His
mouth. That's the desire of His heart, is to sing the song of
the gospel to His people. This is the declaration he mentions
in verse 9. Look at our text in verse 9.
He said, I have preached righteousness in the great congregation. Lo,
I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, you know. I have not
hid thy righteousness within my heart. I have declared Thy
faithfulness and Thy salvation. I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness
and Thy truth from the great congregation." Who is this great
congregation? It's His people. It's the elect. I've not refrained
it. I've not hid these things from
my people. I've not hid Thy righteousness.
When He lived, did He hide it? Did he hide his righteousness
from anyone? No, he openly displayed it. Which of you convinces me
of sin? That's open display, isn't it?
I'm so thankful he didn't hide this. I'm so thankful that he
opened it. Why? Because it's the gospel.
It's the message we believe. It's the message we trust in.
He openly displayed it. He didn't keep it in his heart,
but he testified. Testified of what? He said, I'm
the righteousness of God. That's what he was testifying.
He declared God's faithfulness when he preached. What was the first thing our
Lord did in his ministry after his baptism? He came back. What
did he do? He went to the temple to preach. Preach what? The Word of God. He came and
took the book, and He opened the book, and He preached from
the Word of God to the people. He said, the Spirit of the Lord
is upon me. To what? Preach! Preach to who? The poor! The captives. He told those people he had just
fed, that 5,000, he said, I am the living bread which came down
from heaven. Did he hide anything from them?
No, he told them the truth. I am the living bread. He that
eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life. And I will
raise him up again at the last day. Was that hiding anything?
Did he hide anything? See, they didn't understand it,
but he didn't hide it. It was the truth. He was talking
about faith. They were thinking something
carnal. He said, these words I speak, they're spirit and they're
truth. He didn't hide it. And this is the very song that
Christ, the great musician, leads in the chorus of heaven. Isn't
it? Go to Revelation chapter 5. the hymn of God's people. Revelation chapter 5. After the
slain lamb had taken the book and was worthy to open the book,
look what happens. Revelation chapter 5 and verse
5. One of the elders saith unto
me, Weep not, behold, the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root
of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and loose the seals.
And behold, I beheld, and lo, and the four beasts in the midst
of the elders stood a lamb, as it had been slain, having seven
horns and seven eyes." Speaking of perfections, of power and
wisdom. and the seven spirits of God
sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book
out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne. And when
he had taken the book, the four beasts, the four twenty elders
fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden
vials full of odors, which are the prayers of the saints. And
they sung a new song." Who? Christ and his people. They sang
a new song. And this is a song of his people.
Thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof,
for thou was slain and has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of
every kindred, tongue and people and nation has made us to our
God kings and priests. And listen, we shall reign. You
get the transition there? This is the present tense. We
sing, Thou art worthy, You have redeemed us, You've made us kings,
and one day we'll experience it. One day we will reign. Why? Because you've been victorious.
Because Christ has been victorious. Because He, by His patience,
has wrought our everlasting righteousness. What a beautiful song this is. The one gospel we preach, The
one Lord and Savior, the only mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus. The only righteousness of His
saints, the only Redeemer of the elect, the only Spirit that
testifies in our hearts. It testifies of this one Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ. And this is the song we've heard. You know, it's the only song
I desire to sing. Every time I preach, I'm singing
the same song. Have I changed the tune? Not
at all. Nope. I've got a one-string guitar. And I don't even have to put
my finger on the frets to go up and down. I just pluck the
one string. And it's beautiful! It's gorgeous! To who? To His
elect! And listen what happens. Go back
to your text. I want you to see the result of this. The result
of His patience, the result of His victory, and the result of
His song. Listen. Many shall see it, and
fear, and shall trust. in the Lord. This is the result
of it right here. The result of His righteousness, His victory
over death, His victory over our sins, and the singing of
His song by the Holy Spirit. Many, I like this, many. How
many? As many as the Lord our God shall
call. That's how many. And how will He call them? He'll
call them by our gospel. Beloved, we are always bound
to give thanks unto God for you, chosen of God, before the foundation
of the world, sanctified by the Spirit through
belief in the truth, and you were called, Paul said, by our
gospel. By our gospel. How are these
people called? How are they going to see it?
How are they going to feel it? Only through the preaching of
the gospel. This is why the gospel must continue
and go forth into the world, because this is how God calls
His people. There's no other means by which
God calls His people. I remember a preacher talking
about this. He had preached that message
about The Gospel being the only means that God has chosen. You
can see it in 1 Corinthians 1. You can see it also in 1 Peter
1. You can see it in that one I
just quoted, 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 13 and 14. It is necessary. Romans 10. You see it there. Many places. But he just preached
the Gospel, and this guy came back in the back, and they were
all talking, and this one guy started telling about his testimony.
And man, big tears filled his eyes and he was weeping and wailing
and crying. And he had the whole group of
people just surrounded him and said, well, that's not my experience.
I was saved without the gospel. Friends, that's impossible. I don't care how many tears you
shed. I don't care what your experience is. Man said to him, he said, well,
you know, I would say without the gospel, how do you account
for my salvation? He said, it's your salvation,
you justify it. Huh. How shall they hear without a
preacher? How shall they preach that they'll be sent? Faith cometh
how? By hearing, and hearing by the
Word of God. And this is how the song is sung.
And you know what the result is? Many. You remember when the
apostle was preaching in Acts chapter 13, he was preaching
to those Jews, and they rejected the gospel. They didn't want
it. And he said, well, since you've counted yourselves unworthy
of this, we go to the Gentiles. For the Lord commanded us, saying,
we should be aligned with the Gentiles. And the Gentiles heard
it, and they were glad. And you know who believed? As
many as were ordained to eternal life. Believed. You know how
many is going to believe? As many as were ordained to eternal
life. That's how sure this gospel is. Matter of fact, this gospel is
the very glory of God depends on the success of Christ. If Christ fails, the glory of
God fails. And that just ain't going to
happen. No, not going to happen. Why? Many shall see it, many
shall fear, and they shall, what? Trust in the Lord. They shall believe on Christ. Isn't that what happened to you? That's what happened to me. And notice what God says. This
is a benediction. Verse 4, blessed is that man. but that maketh the Lord his
trust." This is the Word of Christ. Now, I recognize this and I can
preach a whole other message on it, but the blessed man is
Christ. There's no doubt about that.
He is the blessed man. He's the happy man. That's what
it means, happy. You realize the Lord is never
anxious? He's never fretful? He's always happy. You realize He's never disappointed? Well, look at such a small group.
Do you suppose the Lord is just sad because of that? Do you suppose
He's disappointed at all because there's just not many? Nope,
not in the least. Remember when He said that woman
at the well, they came to Him, and He had not eaten, and He
was faint, and yet He was just so happy, and they go, what happened?
The Lord eats something! He said, I've got meat. You'd
have no idea what kind of meat I have. The joy I have of this
is greater than any meat I could eat on this earth. He's happy. And you know what his people
are? They are happy. Secret to happiness. Trust in God. The minute you don't trust in
God, you're not happy. The minute you take your eyes
off Christ, you're very discontent. And you know what? That's a self-inflicted
wound. I think they're the worst kind. Unbelief is a self-inflicted
wound. Fear is a self-inflicted wound. Why? He waited patiently. God brought him up out of the
horrible pit of our sin. He obtained salvation for us
and God established His throne. Many shall see it, fear and trust
in the Lord. And blessed is that man who makes
the Lord his trust. And you know what he does who
makes the Lord his trust? He respecteth not the proud. What do we continually do? We
put off this proud flesh. We must put it off. Did you put it off today? You know what? You have to put
it off again tomorrow." And I gladly put it off. It has
not caused me anything but misery. Nor such that turn aside to lies. And this is another thing. His people don't turn aside from
the gospel. We don't follow fables. There's no fable. Everything
that is not the gospel of God's free grace in Christ is a lie
and not the truth. I know some people, they consider
it charity to give credence to the God of the Arminian. Would you consider it charity
if a doctor found out you had cancer, and for charity's sake,
he said, no, everything's all right. Would you call that charity? We shouldn't tell them it's all
right, it's not all right. It won't be well with them. They
don't know God. And I'm not going to turn aside
to a lie to make them feel better about themselves. Let God be true. And every man a liar. God of universal atonement is
no God at all. Why? Because He's not victorious.
Not victorious. You see, our Savior is. And I
won't turn aside from Him to tell a lie. May our eyes be ever looking
to Christ then. He waited patiently. He was victorious. He sings the
gospel song, and many shall see it, hear it, fear it, believe
it, and trust in God as all our salvation. Now, you can take that to your
grave. and rest well. You can rest well with that.
I pray God give you grace and comfort for it. Let's stand and
be dismissed in prayer.
