The title of the message this
morning is Christ My Shepherd. Christ My Shepherd. We know this psalm. It is very
familiar to us. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. Now this psalm we know is a psalm
of David. And so many have tried to determine
when this psalm was penned. Some think it was penned as David
sat among the sheep of his father's house. You know, he was a shepherd
himself. Some think he sat among those
sheep and as he watched over those sheep, he also reconciled
that God was his shepherd. Some believe it was when he fled
from Saul or Absalom. that he sought this psalm to
be a comfort for his own heart, the Lord is my shepherd. Some
believe it's when he was exalted to the throne of Israel and where
he had peace throughout the whole land and he considered this peace
is because the Lord is my shepherd. Some believe it was when he was
old and ready to depart this world he wrote this psalm. And
he in his dying words could cry, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall
not want. The short and best answer to
this is that no one knows. No one knows. All of these are
plausible, but no one really knows. And I believe this is
because the Holy Spirit would have it so. So that in any circumstance
of the believer, so in any trouble of the believer, any prosperity
or health or wealth or whatever your circumstance, you may know
the Lord is my shepherd. This may be a comfort for you.
That's why the Lord didn't tell us when it was penned. So that
you might know that this psalm is for any occasion. Any occasion. The Lord is my shepherd. But I believe that it was placed
in this particular place, Psalm 23, because it follows Psalm
22. It follows Psalm 22. The Psalm
of Psalm 22 is, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Psalm 22 is a psalm of Christ's
suffering. No doubt, these no doubt are
the words of Christ as He suffered under the wrath of God for the
sins of His people. Isn't that what He shouted on
the cross? It was. It was a fulfillment of that
prophecy. See then, it was not the nails that caused Christ's
pain. It was not the crown of thorns
that troubled His mind. It was not the spear that pierced
Christ's soul. But it was the forsaking of God
that caused His suffering. Although Christ suffered all
through His life, you cannot tell me that any one of us has
suffered the ridicule, the mockery, the hatred, the venom of man
as much as Christ in His life. Christ suffered the effects of
the fallen world, yet having no cause for it in Himself. You see, as He walked as our
representative man, it was the love, the presence, and the power
of God that sustained Him. Do you not see that Christ yielded
all His strength, all of His omnipotence to God? He would
not so much as make one stone a piece of bread, except it were
the will of God. Except God give him bread, he
would not make it himself. He trusted completely on God
in every measure. And it was the presence of God
that gave him strength to do it. He was given the Spirit of God
without measure. To Him the Father gave all the
salvation of the elect to obtain by His righteous obedience. And
that righteous obedience was sustained by God. He trusted
God for everything and God was with Him all through His life. He sustained Him in everything.
So then, you should recognize this, all the responsibility
of salvation rested on Christ. Sometimes, we were making some
soup last night, Cheryl and I were making soup, and believe it or
not, I was making some soup. So, and then she said, you know,
all of a sudden I feel overwhelmed. This is nothing, but we feel
overwhelmed. Now we were feeling overwhelmed
making some soup. But consider the thing that laid on Christ's
shoulders was the salvation of His people. The salvation of
His elect laid on His shoulders. It rested on Him day and night. It was always on His mind, always
on His heart to obey God for us. In the midst of mockery and
hatred and ridicule of men, He still did it. Yet, during all
that time, He had the presence of God. When God made Him to
be sin for us, God could no longer be there. God must have forsaken
His Son. Must have forsaken His Son. God
must, in holy justice, forsake his son and pour out the vengeance
of his justice and judgment on Christ. Therefore, our sins became
his own. Our sins were imputed to him
and that God in justice condemned his own son in the flesh as our
representative. And so is Christ by His one offering
for sin in the flesh, in which God forsook Him, by which God
condemned our sin in His flesh. Therefore, He hath by His self
put away our sins. By Himself He purged our sins. By Himself, He hath made a perfect
offering for sin. We read this in the first message
time, but Hebrews 10, this is altogether lovely. that every priest, verse 11,
every priest standeth daily ministering, oftentimes the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sin. But this man, after he had offered
one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down. Those priests never
sat down. Why did Christ sit down? Because
His one offering was perfect. It was perfect to remove sin
forever. henceforth expect until his enemies
be made his footstool. For by one offering he by himself
perfected them that are sanctified." Those that he died for, he perfected. And listen, if you are to ever
know anything about the Lord being your shepherd, you must
first know something about that. If you know nothing of the death
of Jesus Christ. If you know nothing of His suffering
and His imputed righteousness, then you have no claim to this.
You have no claim to this. Only those who know and trust
in Christ And his one offering for sin may truly say, the Lord
is my shepherd. That's why I believe it's put
here. It's put here right after Psalm 22. So after you understand
Psalm 22, then you can come to Psalm 23 and say, the Lord is
my shepherd. But until then, you can't. Until
then, you can't. Go over to John chapter 10. John chapter 10, verse 11. Jesus said, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his
life for the sheep. The good shepherd does not flee.
He does not kill the sheep. What does he do for the sheep?
The shepherd lays down his life for who? The sheep. Has anybody
confused? Anybody confused so far? I don't
want to confuse anybody. I don't want to leave anybody
out. So then, the Lord is the shepherd of who? sheep. He's not the shepherd of goats.
He's not the shepherd of pigs. He's not the shepherd of cows.
He is the shepherd of the sheep. Who then does the shepherd lay
down his life for? For the sheep, and only the sheep. The sheep are the ones Christ
has purchased with His own blood. Only the sheep did he buy with
his own blood. Look at verse 14. I am the good
shepherd, I know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father
knoweth me, even so I know I the Father. And I lay down my life
for who? The sheep. And other sheep I
have, which are not of this fold, them also I must bring. For they shall hear my voice,
and there shall be one foal and one shepherd. One shepherd. Christ knows His sheep. He knows
them, and He calls them by name. He knows them completely, because
He chose them. Because the Father chose them,
and the Father gave them to Him, and He died for them. Look at
John 27. He said, My sheep hear My voice,
and I know them. "...and they follow Me, and I
give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand." He knows His
sheep. He calls His sheep. He saves
His sheep. How foolish are men to suppose
that Christ died in some blind hope so that men should accept
Him. I tell you that my Lord and Savior
did not die to make salvation possible. He died to accomplish salvation. Notice His words, My sheep, I
know My sheep. They shall hear My voice. They shall come to Me. Them I must bring. Are these
not definite words? These are definite articles.
I will bring them. They shall come to Me. These
aren't ifs and maybes and mights. These aren't perhaps, peradventure. They will. Why? They're His sheep.
They're His sheep. And I tell you, they're His sheep
because He paid for them. I laid down my life for them.
And you know what I'm going to do with my sheep? I'm going to
give them eternal life and nobody can take them out of my hands.
I'll tell you what, that is good news for the sheep. That's good
news to the sheep, to those who know Christ as my shepherd. That's good news. Man, I'm not
going to kick against that. That's just too good. Too good. The Scriptures speak in sure
language. He says in John 6, this is the
will of My Father. This is not ambiguous will. This
is not a maybe will. This is His will. He said, this
is the will of Him that sent Me, that of all He hath given
Me, I should lose nothing and raise it up again at the last
day. And all that the Father giveth
Me, listen, they shall come to Me. They will come. Heaven, hell, angels, demons,
men, earth, time, circumstance, you know what will prevent them
from coming to me? Nothing. Matter of fact, I'm going to
move everything to make them come to me. I'll do everything
necessary to make them come. These are my sheep. He is sure
that His life His life was the cost that He
should purchase His sheep. It was the price that must be
paid. And He even promised His resurrection. He said, if I lay down my life,
I know this, I'll take it again. Now is that ambiguous? Was that
maybe? Was that a perhaps? No! He said,
I'm going to lay down my life because that's the cost of my
sheep and I'm going to take it again when I pay the cost for
them. I bought them and I'm going to
bring them. Resurrection is the proof of
His acceptance. They're going to hear His voice,
not someone else's voice. You know, this thrilled my soul
when he first said it. But our brother, J.D., when he
came to me the first time, he came in and heard the gospel
the first night. You know what he said? He said, I heard His
voice. I just, I don't want you to hear my voice. It's contemptible.
You should hear His voice. And if you hear the shepherd's
voice, oh, how sweet it is. Sweet to hear His voice. I tell
you this, in that John 10, he said to these Jews, if you look
in verse 26, he said, I told you who I was, I told you what
I came to do, but you believe not. Now, why did they not believe? Well, Jesus don't leave us to
guess. He said, because you are not of my sheep. You are not of My sheep. You
aren't the ones the Father gave Me to save. I didn't come to
save you. I came to save My sheep. You
believe not because you are not of My sheep. Listen to the joy
of this truth. I believe because I am His sheep. Because I have heard His voice,
I follow Him. And this is a sure evidence,
not the cause of my salvation. Faith is the evidence of salvation. You know, one lady said to me
when she was converted, she said, Pastor, when I heard, before
I knew what happened, I believed. You see, faith is the evidence
of conversion. Faith is never the cause of conversion. Christ is the cause. The Shepherd's
life was the cause. And His sheep will hear His voice,
and they shall believe on His name, and they may claim, The
Lord is my Shepherd. Only them. Only them who believe. Faith is the evidence. Even so, it is true of all who
are born of the Spirit of God, us who are made partakers of
the divine nature. We are washed in blood of Christ,
robed in the righteousness of Christ, and we have this hope
and assurance of this. The Lord is, most definitely,
the Lord is my shepherd. He is my shepherd. Is He yours?
Oh, if He is, what a glorious thing that is. And that should
comfort you no matter what. That should comfort you no matter
where you are, what you're doing. Because you know something of
His suffering. You know something of His shepherdhood. And so as we look at this, believer,
the Lord is my shepherd, I want us to break down this passage
of scripture and may the Lord give us some comfort from this.
I really hope and pray that the Spirit of God would so impress
this on your heart that it would be branded on there and you wouldn't
be able to escape it no matter what. This thought may come to
you every second of every day. I pray that's the case. First
of all, who is my shepherd? This is important because it
is the Lord Jesus Christ. What good would it do if we had
men for our shepherd? Now there are, God has pastors
and we are his under-shepherds, but really, if I was your sole
shepherd, would that be any good for you? No, because I'm not
omnipotent. I don't have all power, all wisdom,
all knowledge. But if the Lord is your shepherd,
then you have somebody who understands and knows everything, who is
capable of delivering you. The Lord is my shepherd. Yes,
our shepherd was made flesh and he accomplished our salvation.
But long before he was made flesh, he was God, very God. Paul says in 1 Corinthians, he
says, to you who were deemed through the blood of Christ for
the forgiveness of sins, he says, let me tell you who that is.
He is the express image of God. He says he is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. This same
Jesus, John says, was with God and was God. I was reading this week. Do you know how ignorant
a man has to be just to say Jesus was a good teacher? If that's all you believe about
Jesus Christ, you are ignorant of his words. You're ignorant
of what he claimed. Jesus Christ did not claim to
be a good teacher. He claimed He was God manifest
in the flesh. Now either He is or He is a madman,
a liar. Now He is either God in the flesh
or He's a liar. There's no two ways about it.
He can't be a good teacher and be a liar. No. He's either God
or He's not. If He's not, we burn the book
and go home. There's no hope. But I tell you,
He is God. He is God. This One that is our
Shepherd created all things in heaven and in earth, visible
and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities
or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him. Do you get that? This world does
not spend for you. It spends for Him. Now, you think
it spends for you. You think this world revolves
around you because that's our carnal nature, it thinks that.
Look, this world's not made for you, it's made for Him. You are
made for His good pleasure and He'll do with you as He pleases.
Now, that's my shepherd. My shepherd sits in the heavens
and does whatsoever He pleases. You see, what's happening in
the world today is whatsoever He pleased. He does whatsoever He pleases.
This is Christ, our Shepherd that created all things. The heavens, the sky, the starry
space, the heaven of heavens, everything in it, Christ made
it. Angels and men, beasts and birds, creeping things and trees,
plants and foods, kings and governments, rulers and potentates, peasants
and devils, all were created by Him and for His good pleasure
He made them. and everything moves. He did
not create this world and let it stand on its own. He creates
this world and moves everything in it according to His will.
Everything. Scripture says, by Him were all
things and by Him all things consist. The reason this world
and universe does not evaporate into nothing is because he keeps
it, he sustains it, he moves it, everything. You breathe in,
you breathe out according to his good pleasure. That's it.
That's my shepherd. Controls everything. Not one
cell, not one organism in your body is without his express control
and permission. It doesn't move. It doesn't function,
except He will it. That's my shepherd. He's God. He does whatsoever He pleases.
The Lord Jesus Christ was no created being. He created all
things. Believer, then, this should be our comfort, if the
Lord is our shepherd, that nothing happens in this world by chance.
Our shepherd moves all things by His sovereign decree. And
you know what His sovereign decree is? That everything work for
your good. That's his will. The will of
my shepherd is my good. Are we not proof of that? I am a living, breathing proof
that God is gracious to his sheep. Every believer in Christ is made
a witness of it. We were born dead in sins, and
yet He kept us. He sustained us. He didn't kill
us. He didn't allow us to fall off
into eternity without Christ. He sustained us, and even while
we were yet in our sins, Christ died for the ungodly. And then in time, by grace, He
brought a man of God to preach the Word of God, and the Spirit
of God used the Word of God and applied it to our hearts, and
we became born again. We were given faith in Christ. We're evidence of His divine
providence and good pleasure of His will toward His sheep.
Therefore, believer, the Lord is my shepherd, and all things
work together for my good. David says of the numberless
thoughts of God, he said, how numberless are thy thoughts of
me. And you know what God says in His covenant of grace? He
says this, My thoughts toward you, I know my thoughts toward
you. Thoughts of peace and not of
evil. How many thoughts does my shepherd
think of me every day? They cannot be numbered, but
every one of them are for my peace. and not evil. Do you get that, the Lord your
shepherd, that nothing happens to you is evil? Your sin is evil. We know that. It causes much pain. But I know
this, even that God, even that God uses for our good. It's amazing. You meant it for evil, but God
meant it for good in everything. Secondly, the Lord is my shepherd. There is no doubt the Lord Jesus
Christ is my shepherd, even because He owns me. Do you get that? He owns me. He owns me. I know in this country of freedom,
we often buck. at that idea of slavery. Not a believer. We love it. He owns me. Lock, stock, and
barrel. He owns every part of me, body,
soul, and spirit. Why? Because he bought me. He bought me. You know the picture
of Hosea I don't have this in my notes, but Hosea, you know,
he was commanded to go and find a harlot, a whore, a woman who
was bought and sold on a slave market. And God picked for him this woman,
Gomer, and you remember her name means wasted. Oh, what a picture
of us, isn't it? And yet our beloved Savior came
and bought us and saved us. He bought us. We are His. The Father gave us to Him and
He purchased us with His own blood. Now I will not and cannot say
that God loves all men because He doesn't. He does show compassion
to all men in that He gives them life and breath. If they have
any joys at all in this world, it is surely of the mercies of
God, the compassion of God. But I tell you this, only for
His sheep does He have this love that is immutable and unchangeable. Do you get that? If the Lord
is my shepherd, then I know His love is as eternal as His person. And the proof of his love, how
do I know? Isn't that sometimes, Lord, do
you love me? Isn't that sometimes our request? Lord, I want to know, do you
love me? Am I one of yours? How can you love me? And he said,
look to the cross. I'll show you how much I love
you. Look, has anyone else in this world died for you like
that? Could anyone die for you like that? No. I alone love you. And I love you above everyone
else. The proof of His love is the
gift of Christ, who died in our stead and willingly laid down
His life. And now His Spirit is shed abroad in our hearts,
crying, Abba, Father, Daddy, Daddy, that's what it is. It's
a term of affection only reserved for the child. Only reserved
for the one who is not the servant in the house, but the firstborn
in the house. Abba! Father! And we cry out in love
to Him. Believer, we are not our own. We have been bought with the
price. Therefore, we glorify God in our body and in our spirit,
which belong to God. Now if the Lord's your shepherd,
you know this, you don't own yourself. God owns you. In man's religion, God is subject
to man. In true religion, man is subject
to God. Jesus said, if any man come after
Me and does not deny himself, take up his cross and follow
Me, he cannot be My disciple. If a man hate not his father
and his mother and his sister and his brother, and yea, his
own life also, he cannot be My disciple. Why? Because when Christ
purchased us, He purchased us completely, and therefore we
bow to Him as servants and sons. Servants and sons. He owns us. We're bought with a price. And
therefore, because the Lord is my shepherd, listen to this,
I shall not want. That's the next thing. I shall
not want. Now this word want means lack or fail. Surely believers we have wants.
Isn't that right? I want more faith. I want more
love. I want more grace. I want to
see more of the glory and power of Christ. Nor does it mean that the flesh
will stop wanting. That's not what it means. not
craving the things of this world and truly we're even the good
things our Father knows we have need of. So what does this mean
I shall not want? It means that you shall not lack
anything necessary. Because the Lord is your shepherd,
you shall not lack anything necessary. First of all, look at this, He
restoreth my soul. I'm sorry, He leadeth, verse
2, He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. Listen, you'll
never lack rest. Rest. Come unto me, all you that
labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you, what? Rest. Rest. We shall not fail, God shall
not fail to give us rest. Believer in Christ, we shall
never lack rest, for he maketh me to lie down in this, Christ
is all. Now if you want to lay down in
something and rest, you understand this, Christ is all. Have you ever been afraid so
much that you can't sleep? But if the believer in Christ,
if the Lord is your shepherd, what reason do you have to fear? Come, says the shepherd, and
lay down at my feet. Come and rest under the shadow
of my wing. Lay down under the refuge of
my blood and righteousness. And you know what you'll find?
You'll find plenty to eat. Green pastures. Green pastures. You won't lack food. You won't
lack rest. And you most definitely won't
lack food. You know, if you lack any of this, if the Word of God
is not appealing to you, it's not because it's lacking. But because you lack the appetite. May God give us such an appetite
for the gospel of God, the gospel of His grace, because He's not
lacking in giving it, is He? He makes us to lie down and find
rest. We lay down on the sure foundation
of Jesus Christ. The Scripture says, I lay in
Zion for a foundation, a stone, precious stone, a sure foundation.
He that believeth shall not get up and leave it, but he will
lay down on it. He shall not make haste. See,
I don't want to go anywhere else. Do you? I want to lay down right
on Christ and feed on His Word. So you won't lack peace. You
won't lack rest. You won't lack peace with God
because His blood has made peace with God. Secondly, He said, He leadeth me beside the
still waters. You know, she won't drink from
running water. It has to be still. Because they're so skittish.
They're so afraid. Believer, don't be afraid. God
has made peace already for you. So be at peace. You are at peace
with God. So why should you not be at peace?
May that steal your hearts. My shepherd leadeth me. You won't
lack for leading. Isn't that good? You won't have
to ask where to go. You know what? You're going right
where He wants you to go. He leadeth me every day. Well, I don't feel like I'm going
anywhere. Well, that's what He's telling you. Don't go anywhere.
Stay right there. Wherever He leads, go there.
Go there. He leadeth me by the still waters,
and He calms my mind and soul by His grace. And thirdly, we
won't want for redemption. He said, He restoreth my soul. He restored us. In Adam, we were
separated from God, but in Christ, we are reconciled to God. In
Adam, He brought judgment of God, but in Christ, we have peace
and restoration with God. Righteousness was lost in the
fall, but restored at the cross. Because Christ restored that
which He took not away. And now we are restored and He
leads us in that path. And this number four, we won't
lack a path to walk in. It says, He leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Now, none of us
knew this path. Man by nature, this path to God
is a broad path. It's a path that anybody can
follow. It's a path that anybody can go. And they all just kind
of lead to the same place. Jesus said, "...broad and wide
is the road that leadeth to destruction, and many go in thereat." But
I'll tell you, if the Lord is our shepherd, He leads us in
this path of righteousness. What is this path of righteousness?
It is Himself. He said, I am the way. Is there any other way to God? Not according to Christ, my shepherd. And He leads me always in this
way of faith. The just shall live by faith.
Faith in Christ, who is our righteousness, and by Him we continually receive
the forgiveness of sins. We who walk by faith, we obey
His commandments. What are His commandments? Believe
on Christ and love one another. These commandments are not grievous
to us. Is it grievous to you to love me? Is it grievous of
you to believe on Jesus Christ? No! These commandments are not
grievous. They're not grievous to us at
all. Why? The Lord's my shepherd and He leads me in this path.
I didn't put myself in this path, He put me in this path. And he
leads me in this path. And fifthly, we shall not want
for his presence or comfort. Look at verse 4. Yea, though
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear
no evil. Why? For thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort
me. It's often said that the valley
of the shadow of death is just the end of life. But believer, is not this whole
journey a valley of the shadow of death? Is it not always death
looming over us? Yes. This is a barren wasteland. When I picture a valley of the
shadow of death, is that not barren to you? That's a barren
place. Death is everywhere around us.
It's all around us. Sin is all around us. So this
is a valley of the shadow of death. And as I walk through
this valley of the shadow of death, you know what comforts
my soul? He's with me. I shall never want for his presence. I tell you, sometimes I don't
feel his presence. Now, does that mean he's not
there? No, he's there. He said, when
thou goest through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.
He said, I will be with you. I will be with you. A very present
help, when? In trouble. When are you not
in trouble? Have you found yourself without
trouble, believer? Man, if you're without trouble,
you're an anomaly, because I don't know any believers not in trouble.
You know what? You won't lack for my presence,
son. I'll be with you every step of the way. Matter of fact, you
know who's walking in this journey? And it's Christ. And he's carrying
you. If I ever make it to heaven,
it will be because he carried me all the way. That's it. He
carried me. on his shoulders. So I won't
want for his presence. And you know what I won't want
for his comfort? You know how he comforts it? He said, thy
rod and thy staff. You know what a rod is? A rod's
for correction. When a sheep wanders off and
continually wanders off, you know what the shepherd does?
He breaks the leg of that sheep. Well, man, how is that comforting? If you are without chastisement,
then are you bastards and not sons. Are you chastened of the
Lord? Does He chasten you because of
your sin? Oh, then you should be comforted
because He only chastens His children. He doesn't chasten
the lost. He lets them go. And you know what the shepherd
does when he breaks that leg of the sheep? He binds it himself.
And then he puts the sheep on his shoulder until he is healed.
Is that not our experience? It is if the Lord is your shepherd,
it is your experience. He chastens us, He breaks our
leg, binds it, wraps it, puts us on His shoulders and carries
us. And you know what? That sheep that has been broken,
He is the one that sticks closer to the shepherd than any other
sheep. So is that not a comfort that you are chastened? Even
so, Lord, chasten us according to Thy good pledge. Keep us from
sin. Keep us near Your side. And His
staff, His staff comforts us. That staff was for defense. Defense. Look at this. Thou prepares the table before
me. Where? in the presence of mine
enemies." Is that not your case? Aren't there enemies all around
you? You know where Christ leads His
people? Right in the den of lions. And you know what He does there? He says, I dare you to try to
touch one of them. Isn't that what He did to Job?
Satan? You know who picked the fight
in that? God did. He said, Satan, have
you noticed my servant Job? Look at, he's perfect. And Satan
said, perfect? Well, let me show you. If you'll
just let me, I'll take, I'll show you he's not perfect. Go
right ahead. But don't take his life. And you know what? Job came out
the better. Satan could not do to him anything
except God allow it and God will not allow anything to destroy
his people He will only do it for your good and his glory See
what he's doing. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall
not lack for protection His rod and his staff. I like not lack
for for a Chastisement and this and this he said Thou anointest
my head with oil my cup runneth over And listen, we shall not lack
for the Spirit. The Spirit of God is given to
us and He shall not be taken away from us. I tell you, at
times we grieve Him and at times He seems to be departed. But I tell you, He's not. Seek
Him and you'll find And verse six, we will not lack
goodness or mercy of God in this life nor the next. You see, it's not a matter of
presumption or a matter of merit, but one that must be grasped
only by faith. Jesus Christ is my shepherd. I will not want for anything. I won't want for peace. I won't
want for spiritual food. I won't want for redemption.
I shall not lack His leading. I shall not lack His righteousness. And even though I walk in this
valley of the shadow of death, I won't lack His presence. I won't lack His chastisement
and I won't lack His comfort and assurance, His protection. And surely He that's given me
these things in this life will surely shepherd me all the way
to glory. Is the Lord your shepherd? Good. Then you won't lack anything. He'll provide everything. What
do you provide? Nothing. I'm just a dumb animal. I'm the sheep. He bought me. I'm His. And you know what? He is mine. I pray that God, by grace, make
him yours. Let's stand and be dismissed in prayer.
