Go back to Romans 10 now with
me please. This is a message to exhort,
urge everyone in here to call on the name of the Lord. Our text says, verse 12, there's
no difference. It doesn't matter who it is,
Jew, Greek, male, female, rich, poor, young, old. The same Lord
over all is rich, rich in mercy, rich in grace, rich in salvation
unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever, whosoever shall
call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I've been reading
that. I've been reading that and quoting
that and thinking of that for days now. And when we read it
together, Say from what? Wrath. Judgment. Now, go with me to
Isaiah. Do you notice how many times
Paul quoted Isaiah? Isaiah chapter 2. This is an old-fashioned message
that is so rare today. It's still the message. A man is thought to be a fanatic
or some... if he preaches, flee from the
wrath to come. Escape for your life. Isaiah was, he thought, you know,
he preached, there was a lot in Isaiah, and he got to chapter
53, and he said, Lord, who hath believed thy report? Chapter
2, he says in verse 10, enter into the rock and hide thee in
the dust for fear of the Lord, for the glory of his majesty.
The lofty looks of man shall be humble. of men shall be bowed down. Paul
wrote in the last day, perilous time, men shall be haughty, high-mounted,
proud, lovers of themselves. Verse 12, the day of the Lord
of hosts shall be upon everyone that is proud and lofty, everyone
that is lifted up and be brought low. Look at verse 19, they shall
go into the holes of the rocks and the caves of the earth for
fear of what? The Lord. The glory of His majesty when
He arises to shake terribly the earth. Look at chapter 13. Have
you ever read chapter 13? It's fearful. Verse 6, Isaiah
13, 6, How ye! The day of the Lord is at hand.
It shall come as a destruction for the Almighty. Therefore,
shall all hands be faint. Every man's heart shall melt.
They shall be afraid. Pains and sorrows will take hold
of them. Verse 9, the day of the Lord cometh cruel with wrath
and fierce anger to lay the land desolate. He shall destroy sinners
therefore out of it. Verse 11, I will punish the world
for their evil, the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause
arrogance and pride to cease. Verse 13, I will shake the heavens
and the earth to remove out of their place in the day of His
fierce anger. Have you ever read that? See, that's the Old Testament. Second Testament. Notice 2 Thessalonians. God doesn't change. Paul wrote in Hebrews 12, 29,
Our God is a what? Consuming fire. 2 Thessalonians 2, here's what
he says in verse 7, To you who are troubled, Rest with us when the Lord Jesus
shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming
fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God and that obey
not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. As some in here have
not obeyed the gospel of our Lord, have not believed on the
Lord Jesus Christ, have not confessed Him. It's a serious thing. Verse 9, who shall be punished
with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
from the glory of His power, when He shall come to be glorified
in His saints and admired in them that believe. A preacher, he shouldn't preach
those things. I wouldn't be a preacher if I didn't. He's no preacher
that doesn't. But, whosoever, It shall come, on the name of
the Lord, shall be saved. And the day of His fierce wrath
and anger, saved. And the overflowing scourge of
God's wrath comes now, and it shall come. And Trump shall say,
it will not come down here. God's wrath has already been
poured out on His Son. If you call on Him, if you trust
Him, Saved from what, preacher? Saved from sin. Saved from sin. Punishment of it, saved from
the power of it. He that committed sin is a servant of it. Saved
from the presence of it someday. Saved from bondage. We'd be not
in bondage. Oh, yes you are. Oh, yes we are.
Bondage to the flesh, bondage to the God of this world, unless
Christ has made you free. and bondage to the world, and
bondage to all and everything around you following it. You
mean bondage to religion? Sure. People are in bondage.
Superstition, tradition, but whosoever shall call on the name
of the Lord shall be saved, delivered, ransomed, rescued. I preach, I urge everyone in
here to call on the name of the Lord, but I can't make you call.
I can only call for myself. And I can only call on the Lord
and ask Him to make the call. I can't make anybody call Him. I started to say I would if I
could, but no, I wouldn't. I wouldn't do that. Because the Lord knows it. It's His will. But whosoever
shall call. Now this is taken from Joel chapter
2. And it says, the remnant whom
the Lord our God shall call. That's who shall call. You know, there's some in here
who have not called. It's obvious. They have not called
on the Lord. They're not saved, don't know the Lord. Some think
they do and don't. Have not and do not call. This
calling on the Lord is not a one-time thing. It's a constant thing.
You know why we come here? Why we come here? to call on the name of the Lord.
To collectively give thanks and praise and hear His Word and
worship Him and singing of praises. But with prayer and our songs
and everything, we're calling on the Lord, aren't we? What
are we calling? What are we calling? Oh, Lord, save us. Have mercy
upon us. Be gracious unto us. We're calling
on the Lord. That's why we come. The reason some people don't
call, number one, they don't think they need saving. Or they
think they called years ago and made their profession and baptized
and joined the church, and from that day on, they're just cruising
on through and don't need saving. Then there's those who don't
want saving. They don't want saving. They say,
I don't want to call. Some don't call, haven't called,
don't call, it's obvious because they don't respond to the gospel
call. When the word, when the gospel, words of life, savor
of life to life goes forth, there's a savor of life, there's a response
of life, happy, sad, joyful, mourning, hunger, thirst, cold,
hot, not lukewarm, that's not life. There's a response. The Lord's voice. This is not
my voice. If the Lord speaks, it's His
voice. Shepherd's voice. He said, my sheep, hear my voice.
When my father called me, and I heard him, he got my attention.
And I responded. When he called, the sheep. When
he called, when the shepherd called, the sheep respond. They
cry. They cry out. Barnard used to say, preach my
verdict. He used to tell young preachers like my dad, preach
for a verdict. Preach in such a way that people have to respond.
He said they'll either get mad, and that's a response. How would people at least get
mad, or sad, or glad? And hopefully those that get
mad will be made sad, and then be glad. I preached some time ago to someone
who never made a response. Ever. Ever. Never said a word. Not a pertinent word. About one
message. Couldn't wait to get out of this place. And I said something in the pulpit
along these lines. It's a savor of life. It's a
response. Life responds to life. When the Lord calls, you respond. It's a face answer to face in
the water. It's proof of life, you know.
You tell a joke, somebody's alive, they'll laugh. You tell a sad
story, they're alive, they'll mourn. If you tell something
glad, they'll dance. That's what the Lord said. Well,
that person got mad at me and wrote me a letter. The only time
they'd ever responded to me was they got mad at me and wrote
me a letter. And I didn't respond to that. But you know what? The Lord revealed Himself to
that person. And they went from mad to sad
to real glad. And now that person responds
to the gospel as much or more than anybody. Can't get enough
of it. And rarely a day goes by that they don't tell me they
appreciate it. That's life! They've heard His voice! Heard from Him! Now, this is not a how-to. If
you're lost, I don't have to tell you what to do. If the Lord
gets you lost, I don't have to tell you what to do. You know
what you've done? Have you ever been lost? How
many lost couldn't find your way? Us men know something about
this. Men don't like to admit their
loss. Directions, you know. Our little
lady, I know where I'm going. But if you're lost, you'll admit
it. And you'll start asking. Start
calling. If you're really plum lost and
your life's in danger. Brother Walter Groover, I told
you that story about Brother Walter going out hunting by himself. The men told him, don't do this.
It's dangerous out there in Mexico. Down in Mexico, 110 degrees.
Don't go hunting by yourself. Don't do it. Well, he went anyway.
And he went out there, and he got lost. It's flat. There's
no landmark. I got lost down there one time. Didn't know where I was. Buddy,
I started asking. But Walter got down on the ground
from heat exhaustion, from heat stroke, and lay there on the
ground. And all he could do was say,
help me. Somebody help me. I'll tell you what to do, dear
love. You'll call. You'll call. And you'll come. You'll come. Peter, after he preached at Pentecost,
you know, he just declared Christ and he sat down. He didn't give
an altar call. He didn't. He didn't give an altar call.
Now, while the choir is singing, while the music is playing softly,
every head is bound. Don't disturb the Spirit now. Oh no, no, Peter just preached
Christ, the Lord on the throne, men in his hands to do with as
he pleased, as he will, and Peter sat down. And what happened?
They were pricked in their hearts, and they came crying to Peter,
what shall we do? They called. Alright, four points. Who should
call? Who should call? Secondly, who
shall call? Thirdly, how shall they call?
And fourthly, what is it to call? Now, who should call? Every person
in this room. Look at Isaiah 55, beginning
with this preacher. Isaiah 55. And as I said, calling
is not a one-time thing. It's a constant thing. That word,
verb, call, whosoever shall call, is ongoing. It means keep calling
and don't quit calling. Isaiah 55. All men, women, boys
and girls, every single young person in this room should call
on the name of the Lord. I mean right now, today. Right
now, as I speak. Are you hearing me, young people? I'm not playing games here. I'm
not just preaching a sermon. Right? Isaiah 55, verse 6, says this. Seek ye the Lord while he may
be found. Call ye upon him while he is near. Call upon him. Seek the Lord. Oh my, it goes on to say, the
Lord's mercy is higher than heaven. Go out with joy. He called you
to go out with joy. Verse 12, He led forth with peace.
The mountain will start singing unto you. The hills will clap
their hands. The Chief of Senate. Who should call? God commanded
all men everywhere to repent. Call. Not good advice. It's a command. It is good news. Call. Who serves
shall call. Somebody saves. Who will call? Jeremiah 29. Go over there. Jeremiah 29. Who
will call on the Lord? Well, I read to you from Joel,
or I told you that Joel 2.32 says, the remnant whom the Lord
our God shall call, that's who shall call, the remnant. But
Jeremiah 29, look at this. Verse 4, thus saith the Lord
of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away
captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem
unto Babylon. The first thing the Lord is going
to do when He deals with somebody is make them feel captive, in
bondage, lost, undone, wretched, miserable, poor, blind, naked,
sinner, needing a Savior. I caused them to be in bondage. But I know the thoughts I think
toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give
you an expected end. Then shall you call upon me,
and you shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you,
and you shall seek me and find me when you shall search for
me with all your heart, and I will be found of you, saith the Lord.
I will turn away your captivity. I'll gather you from the nation.
I'll bring you into the place. Then you'll call. Like Psalm
107. Psalm 107 says the Lord brought
them down through their own foolishness, through hard labor, through trouble.
They all got in trouble. It says, then they cried. Four
times. Then they cried unto the Lord.
And the Lord saved every one of them. Oh, I look how long for the day
the Lord will break a heart in here. Keep breaking hearts. Because
if your heart doesn't stay broken, you'll have a good heart. Who will call? Those the Lord
shall call. We keep saying this, don't we?
Why? Because it's true. Because salvation is of the Lord.
If He doesn't call us, we won't call. And it's for His glory. And brethren, if you call, if
you have called, if you do call, and if you will call, someday
you'll be in glory and you'll be thanking Him to high heaven
from the bottom of your heart to the top of your lungs. From
the sole of your feet to the top of your head, you'll be thanking
Him for calling you. You'll be singing. Some, you
know, sing this old monotonous love song. Boy, you'll be singing
it. And to Him that called us, thank you, Lord, for calling
me by your grace. I wouldn't have come. If you
hadn't have kept calling me, I'm like a lost sheep. Keep running
off, keep running off, and you keep calling me back in the throat.
Keep calling me back. Who will call? Look at 1 Corinthians
1 real quickly. 1 Corinthians 1. I'm endeavoring
to be short. You say, well, you
are short. I mean in preaching. In preaching. 1 Corinthians 1. You see, this
is comforting to me. It's comforting to those who
have been called, those who call and have been called, If you've
come to Christ, you've been drawn. The Father loves you. He's drawn
you. If you keep calling, you keep coming, you are one of the
called. You're the chosen. And you will
abide faithful. 1 Corinthians 1, verse 2. Look at this. He writes to the
church of God, which is at Corinth, or at Rocky Mount, to them that
are sanctified in Christ, set apart in Christ, redeemed, washed
from His blood, justified in Christ, called to be saints, and all that in every place call
upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. You see, you've been
called, and you call. Look at verse 26, 1 Corinthians
1. You see your calling, brethren,
don't you? Huh? Now that not many wise men after
the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. Who does God choose? Who does
God call? Foolish things of the world.
Our text Wednesday, Psalm 73, this is what Spurgeon said. He
said, I was so foolish, I was so ignorant, I was like a beast. I'm going to say it again. But
God called me by His I've told you time and again, I never get
tired of it. That the Scripture the Lord really
used to prick my heart was when He was hanging on the cross and
He said, Father, forgive them. They know not what they do. They
don't know what they're doing. They don't know where they're
going. He doesn't know where He's going. He doesn't know where
He's been. He doesn't know what He's doing. He doesn't have a
clue. Father, forgive Him. Bring Him to me. I'm going to
teach Him. I'm going to save Him. And He
did. God has chosen the foolish things
of the world, you see. Oh, people have a problem with
elections until they are called. You know what? Everybody has
a problem with elections until God calls them. And then you're so glad that
he hasn't elected. And you realize God chose foolish things. God
has chosen the weak things of the world to confound things
which are mighty, base things of the world, things which are
despised have God chosen, things which are not A nobody, a nothing
from nowhere to bring to naught things that are. Why? That no
flesh should glory in His presence. But of God, this is of God, are you
in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness
and sanctification and redemption, that according as it is written,
He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. If you call, truly
call on the name of the Lord, You have nothing to glory in.
It's because He called you. Who will call? Oh, the Lord calls. I can't emphasize that enough,
because false religion just begs and pleads and cajoles and bribes
and, you know, what's the word? Blackmails and promises. Please,
please. You don't have to beg people. But when the Lord calls in, they'll
beg you. It's happened to me. Brother
Gabe, not long ago, it happened to him. A fellow asked him to
be baptized. And Gabe said he wasn't real
confident in the man. He said, now let's just wait
a little while. It wasn't too long. He said, please, I've got
to confess him. He said, OK. Now, beg people,
they'll beg you. They'll beg the Lord. We're not
calling on men to do something for God. We're calling on God
to do something for men. We call it on the Lord to call
them. Lord, please call so and so. Please. They haven't called. It's obvious. But when you call
them, it'll be obvious. Because they'll come running. Old Mr. Wet Eyes will come up. But not until then. That's why
we keep saying that. Who should call? Everybody. Who
will call? Those that God calls. Now how
do they call? Romans 10. Romans 10, are you
there? Verse 13 says, Whosoever shall
call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Well, how? How
shall they call on Him whom they have not believed? And how shall
they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall
they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except
they be sent? And what's that saying? It's
saying exactly what you just read. Read it backwards. Sent. Preached. Hear, believe, call. That's the order. God sends a
preacher. It pleases God by the foolishness
of preaching. I don't need no preacher. I don't
need a preacher to be saved. Yes, you do. He's not saving
you. You're not saved by the preacher.
But this is the means God has chosen. You know, there are many
that think if you're elect, you're elect. It doesn't matter if you
hear the gospel or not. That's a lie. That's false. Our Lord
sent preachers, didn't He? God sent His Son to do what? Preach! Alright? He came preaching. And then Christ
chose whom He would, and they came unto Him. He said, Go ye
in all the world and preach the gospel, and he that believeth
and is baptized shall be saved. That's what the Son of God said.
Preach! They hear you, they'll hear from
me, they'll hear it through you. And buddy, those who've been
saved and being saved, they hear preaching of the gospel. And this is one reason God chose
by the foolishness of preaching. Number one, you have to sit down
and shut up. It's not a share session. It's a man standing up. And it
might be a lowly, uneducated, vain babbler, you think. And
buddy, it's going to bring down the high and the lofty and the
haughtiness of man. It's going to bring down the
wise and the prudent. It's going to bring them down
to the feet of listening to a coal miner, a fisherman. A demonstration of the spirit
and power of Paul says, not by might or power, but by my spirit
to make a proud sinner with all the attainments of this world
have to sit and listen to a nobody, a fisherman. Like on Nicodemus. He had to sit on the front row
and listen to Simon. That's of the Lord. And from
that day forward, you esteem that preaching. You think, oh,
that man's feet are beautiful. And you love to hear it. And
you've got to hear it. And you need to hear it. You
need to hear preaching the rest of your days. That's how God sends a preacher. God sends a preacher. That Ethiopian
eunuch is somebody. He's in charge of the king's
treasury. He was somebody second in command of a large country,
traveling his chariot, coming back from Jerusalem, coming back
from a big feast, reading Isaiah 53. He doesn't understand what
he's reading. And God sent a man named Philip. Who's Philip? He's
a deacon. What were deacons? They waited
on tables. And he came up to that man's
chariot and the Lord was working on this man, breaking his heart,
this Ethiopian youth. And Philip said, do you understand
what you're reading? Now, if he'd have been proud
and haughty and somebody, like the average religious person,
he'd have said, are you serious? Do you know who I am? But no, God was breaking his
heart. And he said, how can I except some man show me. Would you come
up in this? Can you tell me what this is
saying? Philip said, I sure can. And he preached Christ unto him.
And they were riding along. He believed on the Lord Jesus
Christ through the preaching of the gospel through the man.
And they were riding along. And Philip told him, our Lord
said, if you believe Him, you should be baptized and confess
Him. They were riding along. little lake or a pond, and E.
Philip Eugenics said, stop the chariot, here's one another.
Can I be baptized? You can, Philip said, if you
believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
He said, I believe. Let's go be baptized. That's how we call it. All right,
what is it to call it? in 24 minutes. Romans 10, verse
13, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved. And I want you to turn to Isaiah
43 with me, okay? Isaiah 43. Whosoever shall call
on the name of what? Who? The Lord. Brother Barnard
used to say this, Jesus doesn't save. The Lord Jesus saves. That's His name. And that's when He saves you.
That's what you'll call Him from then on. Barney used to say this too.
You can't have Jesus as your Savior and later on make Him
Lord. That's not it. First thing He does to you is
He lets you know He is your Lord. And you don't know if you're
saved or not. You don't know if He'll save you or not. But
you bow at His feet, pleading for mercy of this sovereign Lord,
helping, wishing, praying, calling that He might have mercy upon
you. Not expecting it. Not demanding it. Not thinking
He owes it to you. Not thinking it's your right. The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of the wisdom. The Gospel declares the name
of the Lord. The name of the Lord. Fear of
the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And you won't call on the Lord
to be saved unless you really know He is Lord. I mean sovereign. Doing as He
will, with whom He will, because He will. And He giveth not an
account of His matter, and whom He will, He hath. Right? My dad, if I've heard him say
this once, I've heard him say it a thousand times. You will
not bow to anything but a sovereign God. You will not worship anybody
but a sovereign God. You will not call on someone
except a sovereign God who has you in His hand to do with as
He pleases. That preacher, he's mercy, yes he is, but he said,
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy on. Didn't he? The Lord God is sovereign. Who
am I talking about? I'm talking about Jesus Christ.
He's the Sovereign Lord. Isaiah 43. You won't fear a mere man. If you think only of Jesus, you
won't fear Him. You won't bow to a mere man. You won't worship a mere man. Everybody back then wanted to
see Jesus. They wanted to see His miracles.
They were all enamored with Jesus. When it was all over, they all
wanted Him dead. They said crucify Him. But God. They did what their wicked hands
wanted to do. They did what God purposed, sovereignly
determined for them to do. And in sovereign mercy, love,
sovereign love, sovereign grace, in spite of what they did to
God's Son, He had mercy upon them. Isn't that wonderful? Isn't
that amazing? We need to see Him more than
Jesus. We need to see Him high and lifted up. The Lord Jesus.
That's the only one you'll bow to. That's the only one you'll
call upon. We need to hear the Lord Jesus Christ. Look at Isaiah
43. Are you ever tired of reading this passage? Isaiah 43, verse
1, But now, thus saith the Lord, created thee, O Jacob, and he
that formed thee, O Israel, fear not, for I have redeemed thee.
I have called thee. By thy name thou art mine. Verse 3, I am the Lord thy God,
the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior. Lord means Lord. Jesus means Savior. Christ means
Messiah, Covenant Head. He said, I gave Egypt for thy
ransom. Ethiopian seabird for that. That's sovereign. That's
Romans 9. Whom I will I harden, whom my
vessels of mercy prepare for glory. Verse 4, you are precious
in my sight. I have loved thee. Look at verse 6, I will say to
the north, give up to the south, keep not back, bring my sons
from far, my daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone that
is called by my name. I have created him for my glory. I have formed him, yea, I have
made him. Bring the blind. Verse 10, You are my witnesses,
saith the Lord, my servant, whom I have chosen, that you may know
and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there
was no God, for neither shall there be after me. I, even I,
am the Lord. Beside me there is no Savior.
I have declared and have saved, and I have showed, showed us,
when there's no strange God among you. Therefore, you're my witnesses,
saith the Lord, that I am God, that before the day was, I am
He, and there's none that can deliver out of my hand. I will
work, and who shall know? Who is that doing the talking
here? Jesus Christ. Peace of word. The Lord. I am the Lord, Jehovah, the name
of the Lord. Whosoever shall call on the name
of the Lord, At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every
tongue should do what? Call Him Lord. Isaiah 25. If you're still there,
look at this. I quoted it on the radio. I'll
quote it again. I love this. Isaiah 25. This is wisdom and this is salvation. Call on the name of the Lord.
The Lord. Look at Isaiah 25, 9. It shall
be said in that day, Lo, this is our God. We've waited for
Him. He will save us. This is the
Lord. We have waited for Him. We will
be glad and rejoice in His salvation. The Lord. That's Jehovah, isn't
it, John? Anytime you see capital L, capital O, capital R, capital
E, that's Jehovah. Who is that verse talking about?
Who is that talking about? In that day, it shall be said,
this is our God. This is Jehovah we've waited
on. He'll save us. Who's it talking about? Jesus
Christ. Jehovah means the eternal one,
the unchanging one. Well, Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today and forever. Unchanging. The self-existent
one. All-sufficient one. Wanting,
needing nothing. Jesus Christ, the Lord Jesus
Christ, needs nothing. Needs no one. Not dependent on
anyone. It's another Jesus that says otherwise. This is the Lord
Jesus Christ. And everyone in here is truly
called on the name of the Lord. Heard about this Jesus for years,
and believed in this Jesus for years, and wanted to, and tried,
and failed, and can't, and He's knocking on your door, and you
finally let Him in and made Him the Lord of your life. Well,
when you heard of the Lord Jesus Christ, you start knocking. You
start calling. You start begging. You start
hoping that He's going to let you in. Right? And bless God, everyone that
calls on the name of my Lord shall be saved. What did you
call me? Simon Peter, listen to this. Simon Peter, when he first found
out who Jesus Christ was, he called on Him, alright. And you
know what he called on Him to do? Depart from him. He scared him. Yes, John didn't
he? It should fear his heart and
his mind. When the Lord, you know, all those fish, and Simon
Peter thought he was just a teacher And he saw that, and he hid his
knees. And he called him, Lord. He said,
depart from me, Lord. Saul of Tarsus went about persecuting
Jesus. He said, who are you? Lord! That's His name. Call on the
name of the Lord. That's His name. Sovereign Ruler
of the universe. Sovereign in salvation. Sovereign
in righteousness. The Lord. Jesus. That's His name. Savior. Every single person in Scripture
who was saved said this, Lord, save me. The disciples one time went and
woke Him up. He was asleep. And they were going to perish.
What did they all say? All of them, all 12 of them gathered
around his bed, that bed of sails in the hold of the ship, and
all of them standing around him like little children. Lord, save
us! Or we'll perish! Now these were
strong, robust fishermen, Kelly. They'd been fishing all their
lives, sailing boats all their lives. And now they realize,
The Lord doesn't save us, but God does. And they all said,
Lord, you're the master of the sea. Lord, we know you are. We
saw you number the fish. We saw you bring the fish into
our boat. Lord, whosoever shall call, preach
or quit hollering, I wish you'd holler. Lord, save us or we perish. I wish everybody in here right
now would holler, Lord, save us. You might have a revival
here. Get worked up, preacher. He ain't much of a preacher that
doesn't get worked up. He's not worried, not fearful
for the souls of men. He sees people sitting, sitting,
sitting, sitting. Sleep, a sleep of death. Lighten
our eyes. Lord, loose our tongues. Lord, our hearts. Lord, break
my child's heart, break my daughter's heart, break my granddaughter's
heart, my grandson, my wife, my husband. They're dead. It
says when Christ came to the tomb of Lazarus, He cried with
a loud voice. Anybody that resists that, I
don't guess you've heard from Him. I'm hoping and praying to the
Lord, awaken your daughters. And your lost spouses? Really? For whosoever shall call
on the name of the Lord shall be what? Saved! No, we don't
need saving, we'll wait till tomorrow. Today is a day of salvation. It's not just a slogan, you know,
I preach as one that may never preach again, as a dying man
to a dying man. That's a fact. It's the truth. I don't know if it's my last
message or not. What if it is? Well, buddy, you've heard me,
haven't you? Call the Lord. What's His name? The Lord our
righteousness. Some people in religion, they're
all fixed up for heaven, but don't know Christ their righteousness,
our righteousness. But if you find out your righteousness
is the stench in God's mouth, still you'll start calling on
the Lord to come in. The Lord our righteousness. When
you realize it took nothing less than the blood of the Son of
God to put away all your sins, you'll throw away your filthy
rag. You'll throw away everything you've ever done, everything
you've ever said, everything you've ever thought, everything
you know. You'll throw it away. You'll
cast it away like solid tarsa. Forgetting those things that
are past. Oh, he says, I have one thing that I desire. One
thing that I might be found in Him. Covered under the blood. The Lord our righteousness. That's
what I used to call on the name of the Lord. Jehovah said, Kenu,
cover me. The Lord to healeth thee. I am
the Lord to healeth thee. He sends His Word to heal us.
Oh, if He ever reveals to us that we're lepers. I told you that story about Parrish
Reedhead, that Indian missionary leper out in the jungle. crying, somebody help me, somebody
help me. Came around the corner and found
this man, his arms were just nubbed, his face was, flesh was
gone, just a hole there for me, and he's crying out, somebody
help me. And that missionary said, if only I could have gathered
him and put him to my face, his face to my face, and his filth
to my health, and impart my health to him, and me take his disease,
if only I could do that, impart life to him. You know, that's
exactly what Jesus Christ did. And He does it for everybody
that cries, somebody help me. That woman whose daughter had
to vex with the devil, you know what, the Lord ignored her. He
ignored her. Then He said, it's only for the
elect. And you know what she did? She came and worshipped
Him. And all she could say was, Lord, help. That's what it is to call on
the name of the Lord. Lord, you're Lord, help me. Nobody else can. I'm a mess. I'm a sinner. I'm
undone. You are. Lord, I have peace. Lord, I don't have any peace.
I need peace. Lord, I'm a shepherd. Lord, if I'm a sheep, I'm a black
one. I'm a wandering one, always wandering,
a black one. Lord, bring me into the fold.
That's what it is to call on the name of the Lord, Lord our
Shepherd. Could I possibly be a she? To
call on the name of the Lord, to call for mercy. Most people
take God's name in vain. That's all they do. Most people
call on the name of the Lord to take it in vain. And you know
what the first commandment with warning is? There's a first commandment
with promise to children. Honor the parents. Honor your
father and mother. And you'll have a long life.
That's what it says. First commandment promise. You
know what the first commandment with warning is? Thou shalt not
take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will
not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. His name. And there's a whole generation
doing that. Most people say, oh Lord have mercy. Lord have
mercy. Oh my God. It's not a bit funny. Young people,
it's frightening. I'm hoping and praying that everybody
in this room will say, Lord, have mercy. That everyone will
say, oh my God, forgive me, pardon me, have mercy upon me, receive
me unto thyself. May the blood of Jesus Christ,
thy son, be propitiation on the mercy seat of this center. Whosoever
shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Brother John, you come. We're going to sing 235. 235.
We'll sing the first and last verses. 235. 235, first and last. Pass me not,
O gentle Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling,
do not pass me by. Savior, Savior, hear my humble
cry. While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by. Thou dost bring us all my comfort,
more than life to me. Whom have I honoured by thee? Whom in heaven's eyes
