Rain. Water of life! Freely, graciously given from God in Heaven. Everything depends upon it. Drought! When God shuts up Heaven and stops the rain, everything dies. When God stops sending rain it is always His judgment against sin. All the spiritual blessings of God in Christ to the child of God, are like rain, they come down from our Father in Heaven. But sometimes He shuts-up Heaven and stops the rain. Why?

Thank you. John and Robin. All right, go back to 2 Chronicles
7. I hope you read Chapter 6, Solomon's
prayer at the dedication of the temple. This story, his whole
prayer and afterward, is recorded also in 1 Kings Chapter 8 and
Chapter 9. So all of this is recorded twice
in Scripture. That makes it doubly important,
doesn't it? What this prayer of Solomon's
is, is a type, a picture, a shadow, a representation of the Lord
Jesus Christ's prayer in John 17. In John 17, our Lord prayed
that, that was the Lord's prayer in John 17. He prayed that great
high priestly prayer for his people, like Solomon prayed for
Israel. Solomon wasn't praying for the
world. He was praying for Israel, God's people. And the temple represents, Solomon
represents Christ, Solomon represents Christ, the temple represents
Christ, but also the temple represents God's people. You can use both
ways, but Solomon pray this prayer for God's people, and our Lord
Jesus Christ pray for His people, not the world. All right, look
at it. Verse 1, When Solomon had made an end of praying, the
fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and
the sacrifice, and the glory of the Lord filled the house,
and the priest could not enter into the house of the Lord, because
the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. Now, after
our Lord Jesus Christ prayed that prayer in John 17, very
shortly afterward, he went to the cross where the fire of God
fell upon him, where the sacrifice of Christ, our Passover, was
sacrificed for us, and the fire of God's wrath and justice and
anger against our sin was laid on him, and the glory of God
The glory of God's holiness, the glory of God's justice, the
glory of God's love, the glory of God's mercy, the glory of
God's grace, the glory of God's salvation, the glory of forgiveness
of sin, the glory of the Lord in the face of the Lord Jesus
Christ was seen at Calvary and we can't enter into it. Like
it says, they couldn't enter in. And we cannot fully enter
into the glory. Not only did Christ do this work
by himself, no one was with him, but he was by himself. But also
in that sense, we cannot truly enter into the glory of the Lord. But, it says he filled the house
of his fullness have we received. Of his fullness. Christ in him
dwelleth all the fullness. It pleased the Lord, and in Him
all fullness dwelt. Now, verse 3, When all the children
of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord
upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground
upon the pavement, and worshipped and praised the Lord, saying,
He is good, for His mercy endureth forever. When we see the glory
of God in the face, the person, the work of Christ and Him crucified,
For us, we bow our knees, don't we? Bow our hearts and confess
with our tongue that He is Lord. To the glory of God the Father.
And we worship Him, don't we? And we praise Him. For what?
His goodness to sinners. And show Him mercy to sinners
through Christ our Savior. Then, verse 4, the King and all
the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. And King Solomon
offered a sacrifice of 22,000 oxen, 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the people
dedicated to have. It took a lot of animals, didn't
it? Slaying of a lot of sacrifices. And it still wasn't enough because
we're not saved. It's not possible. for the blood
of bulls and goats to put away one sin. Hebrews says this so
much that this man, Christ Jesus, after he offered one sacrifice
forever, obtained eternal redemption for God's people. These things
never put away sin. But they were a picture. Why
did they offer so many? Because it's a picture of the
abundant mercies of our Lord. It's a picture of the bountiful
sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. How that Christ paid all the
debt we owe. That his blood is sufficient
and more than enough to cover all the sin of all of God's people. A bountiful sacrifice. And that
people feasted. Understand now, everybody ate
all of this food. That's why they all went home
full. Do you know how much meat there
was? Do you have much food there was? Nobody. Someone texted me
after receiving my text on the subject, the text, and said they
were looking so poor, so poor. She just went on and on about
it. Someone from out of town. And I said, I love to feed hungry
people. And here's what the Lord said.
He said, open your mouth wide and I'll fill it. You'll get
out of this, however wide you open your mouth. How hungry are
you? So they all went home full because
they feasted on fat things and wine on the Levites. Verse 6,
the priests waited on their offices. And that's what I'm doing. I'm
doing what I'm supposed to do. Preach the Word and feed the
sheep. The Levites also with instruments
of music. That's what you did, Robert.
John, that's what you did. David made instruments to the
praise of the Lord. The lute, the harp, he was a
luthier. What a talented man. The Lord
gave him great talent. He made these instruments. I
bet they were the finest ever made. I'd love to have heard
him play them. And he made them to praise the
Lord. What for, David? Have mercy and
do it forever. Do you know how many times the
Scripture says that? One psalm by itself says it in
every verse. The 26th verse, every verse,
end of every verse. It seems redundant. It seems
needlessly repeated by the world or by those that don't need mercy.
But every line says, for His mercy endureth forever. This is our greatest cause, our
greatest reason for praising our Lord. We're sinners, but
God is full of mercy. And it's in Christ Jesus, our
Lord. They praise the Lord for his
mercy, endureth forever. Verse 7, Solomon hallowed the
middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord.
There he offered burnt offerings and sacrifices, burnt offering
and fat of the peace offering because the brazen offering which
Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering
and the meat offering. I thought about this. We receive
such glory. such lessons, so many things,
so many gospel messages, message after message after message after
message. We can't take it in, can we? We can't take it all
in. Verse 8, Also at the same time
Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him. You see who's with him? Israel,
his people. And all of God's people that
are in Christ, they're with him. They were with him when he was
crucified. They were with him when he was buried. They were
buried with him. They're with Him now. He's seated in heaven
and we're seated with Him in glory. And He's with us and we're
with Him. A very great congregation. Oh,
Israel was numbered. But God's people says there are
people which no man can number. But He has them numbered. A very
great congregation. Verse 9. In the eighth day they
made a solemn assembly. They kept the dedication of the
altar seven days and the feast seven days. This is a solemn,
a solemn assembly. We always, every time, our worship
services are solemn. They're serious. They're under
the Lord. We're very conscious of who it
is that we come before. We're very conscious. I am very
conscious of whose word it is that I'm preaching, who I represent. And you're conscious of whom
you come before to worship. The fear of the Lord regulates
everything we do, everything we say, from every message that's
preached, every song that's sung, every prayer that's prayed, doesn't
it? It's a solemn assembly. But, and joyful. Can you be solemn and joyful?
Psalm 2 is the message for the radio Sunday. Pray for that message. Psalm 2 is a message that goes
on down to say, serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Only God's people understand
that. This is very serious. It's a matter of life and death.
We do this seriously, solemnly, carefully, as unto the Lord,
but we are very happy and rejoice to do it, don't we? Verse 10. And it's dedicated. You see,
it's dedicated unto our Lord who is the altar. We have an
altar, all right. It's not down here. But it's
Christ who's seated in heaven. Verse 10. And on the three and
twentieth day, the seventh month, He sent the people away into
their tents, glad and merry in hearts. for the goodness that
the Lord had shown to David and to Solomon. One time, the children
of Israel, it says, were murmuring in their tents. Remember that?
They had tents. And the Lord was providing for
them all their days. They never lacked for anything
for 48 years. And yet, they murmured in their
tents. But in the beginning here, these
people who rejoiced in the Lord, They went to their tents full
of praise and thanksgiving for the goodness of the Lord. I thought
about, we went over to pick up dad and mom for the service tonight.
And as they were getting in the car, there were two birds on
top of the house next door. And I'm hard of hearing. I don't
have my hearing aids tonight. I don't want to hear myself.
But anyway, these birds were singing so loud. I mean, they were just singing.
To whom? The birds don't have a roof over
their heads. The birds have a day-to-day struggle
for their existence. They have to seek their food.
They don't store it away. They have to seek it every day.
They live in a world full of dangers and predators. Yet, yet,
they whistle and sing unto the Lord at the rising of the sun. the coin down the same. How much
more should we who perceive such mercy and promises? They went
to their tents. Verse 11, So Solomon finished
the house of the Lord. Our Lord Jesus cried, You know
why we should be thankful and why we should be so joyful and
why we should be glad and make Mary in our heart? Because Christ
finished the work. Because Christ finished the work
of salvation. There's nothing for us to do
but rest. Nothing for us to do but praise
Him like these people did. He finished the house of the
Lord and the King's house. If the Lord doesn't build the
house, we labor in vain. But He did. He does. And He finished
it. All that came into His heart
to make in the house of the Lord and in His own house. It pleased
the Lord. to make you his people, like
Solomon, or greater than Solomon, the largeness of heart our Lord
has, and he prospers. He's prospered effectively. He's prosperously effective.
All right then, the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said
unto him, and I did say all that in context because in light of
all the goodness of the Lord, in light of all that praise,
All that thanksgiving, all that rejoicing, all that merriment,
it didn't last. Read on. The Lord appeared to
Solomon by night and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer. And the Lord God always hears
Christ's prayer at Lazarus' grave. And by the way, Sunday we're
going to look at John 11, Lazarus, where our Lord came to that tomb
and He said, I know you always hear my prayer. But I said this.
for their sake, that they might know. You always hear my prayer. He always hears Christ and hears
us through him. And he said, I have heard thy
prayer and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. Christ is the chosen one, the
elect of God, his servant, isn't it? And so are we, his people.
We are his chosen. We are the temple of the Lord.
You know that? Paul said this several times in his epistles. We are the house of God for a
sacrifice to render the sacrifice of our lips and praise. All right. He says, I have heard that prayer
and God has heard Christ's prayer and we are a chosen people unto
him. But. Verse 13. If I shut up heaven,
that there be no rain. If I command the locust to devour,
to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, if
I shut up heaven. And really, it's not a matter
of if, it's when. If and when. It's like John said
in 1 John 2, little children, these things I write unto you
that you sin not. And if any man sin, it's not
if, it's just a matter of when. Just a matter of when. The Lord
warns us and promises us throughout the Scripture. Again, I heard
this from a faithful pastor. He taught us, and I see it by
experience now, that the Scriptures are full of warnings. Full of
warnings. Lest we presume. The whole world
presumes. Preachers have told the whole
world so much that God loves them, they presume upon His mercy. They presume that He loves them. Scriptures are full of warnings
lest we presume. David said, Deliver me from presumptuous
sin. But Scriptures are full of promises
lest we despair. Promises. Paul wrote one time,
He said, Behold both the goodness and severity of the Lord. Behold both the goodness and
the severity of the Lord. He said to the Ephesians when
he was partying with them, I cease not to warn you day and night
with tears. Preaching repentance toward God
and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. Scriptures are full of
both. And God says, if or when I shut
up heaven. Now, every good and perfect gift
comes down from above. From heaven, from God in heaven,
from the Father, with whom there's no variableness or shadow of
turning. They never stop. True, really. And every good and perfect gift
comes down from heaven, from our Father. Water. We depend
upon water, don't we? It's the water of life. We can't
go more than three days without water. Three days. That's how
dependent we are on water. Bread. We need bread, don't we? We must have bread to eat. And
it comes down from heaven. It truly does. Water, rain comes
down and waters the hills and the valleys and brings forth
fruit, and they can bring forth seed to keep on replenishing
the earth and giving us food. Even our clothing comes down,
truly comes down from this water of life. All of this speaks of
Christ. He's the water of life. Christ
is the bread of life. Christ is our clothing. Christ
is all. He's the creator. He's the provider. He's the sovereign dispenser
of all blessings. All blessings come through Him
and because of Him, like Joseph in Egypt. Like Joseph in Egypt. And we, like Jacob's son, live
in the best land known. The land of Goshen. His church. His church. The land of Goshen. That's full. We'll never be in...
He prepares us a bountiful table like Joseph did his sinful brethren
in the midst of their enemies. They'll never lack for anything
because of our Joseph, our Lord Jesus Christ. His voice comes
down from heaven. The voice of God comes down from
heaven. That's Christ. The Word of God was made flesh.
It comes down from heaven. That's Christ. And in Christ,
His mercy comes down from heaven. His love, His grace, His goodness,
His truth, His gospel. Every good gift and every perfect
gift comes down from heaven. And what do we have that we have
not received from heaven? Every one of us can say he has
opened the windows of heaven and poured out blessing after
blessing upon us, hasn't he? Upon these unworthy sons of Jacob.
I love what old Jacob said. He said, I am not worthy, remembering
from where he came to where he was in the end, in the land of
Goshen. And this was what he said, I
am not worthy of the least of thy mercies, of all thy mercies,
and all the truth you have shown
me." He saved the blessing of blessings for land, the best
for land. He said, I'm not worthy of all the mercies you've shown
me and all the truth, the Word, the Gospel. You see, God hath
made known Himself unto the sons of Jacob. He revealed His Word
to Jacob, not the world. He's hid His sons from the wise
and prudent and revealed the blessed Gospel of our salvation
to sinners sons of Jacob and they'll not be concerned because
the sacrifice was. Over. Bruce I told you after
he preached Christ he said that's good preaching. People this is
good preaching right now right now good preach I'm preaching
crap and we're like the sons of Jacob Bennett factors of. We benefit from. He's our benefactor
we benefit from his Blessings to us in Christ, and oh, all
the blessings and mercies and all the truth. Gospel after gospel,
message after gospel, message after gospel. Like that manna
that came down from heaven. But God said, I shut up heaven. There comes
a time. There are times when he shuts
the heavens. and everything. When he shuts
up the heaven, when the rain stops pouring, when you quit
hearing Christ, when you quit receiving a blessing, everything
dries up quickly, doesn't it? How long does it take for this
planet Earth to dry up when the Lord holds the rain? Just a matter
of days, isn't it? What a wonderful growing season
we've had thus far in the state of Virginia, haven't we? Everything's
so, you know, I use a big word, verdant, green, beautiful, fine. God, that's why. Water. Do we remember the droughts,
the past droughts? Are men and women in the world,
in the state of Virginia, wherever they're, are they thanking God
for the rain? Thanking God for the Hey, they
bring in thanking God for the food. Not many. Not many. The two types of drought and
the one that we go through and the one we experience most of
is the second, the latter. There's physical drought and
there's spiritual drought. Physical drought has always been
the judgment of God against the sins of this world. Always. Always. The Lord has always withheld
the rain. If you go back through the Old
Testament Scripture, you'll see how that God, in His anger and
judgment and wrath against the sins of the world, stops the
rain. Like in the day of Elijah and
Ahab. Remember that? He stops the rain. In the day of Pharaoh, Egypt. Well, then there's spiritual
and only his people know something about spiritual and he does this
for the same reason. This is God's judgments. Chastening judgments against
the sins of his people. Look at chapter six, chapter
six, if you read it. He says this here in verse 26,
chapter 6, verse 26. When the heaven is shut up and
there is no rain, when the heaven, God shuts the heavens and we
don't feel any of his love, any of his mercy, any of his grace,
we don't hear the gospel like we once heard it. We don't receive
a blessing like we once were blessed. We don't rejoice. We
don't tremble. We don't It's not like rain. It's not a blessing. Because
why? Read with me. Verse 26. Because
they have sinned against death. They've sinned because of sin.
And God's people's sins, people, are worse. They're worse than
the people of this world. We sin against mercy that we
are aware of. We know it. We sin against love.
We sin against grace. We sin against goodness. The
sins of history were much worse than the sins of Egypt. We sin. Sins. Many. Many. So here we
go again. Yeah. Here we go again. This is why Christ came. Sins. Our sins are many. David
one time in his psalms, you'd be hard pressed to find one psalm
where David wasn't confessing his sins and the sins of his
people and crying unto the Lord for mercy. You'd be hard pressed
to find one psalm. The rest of the psalms he's praying,
thanking the Lord for his mercy. And the other psalms he's reminding
us of all of his goodness. The other psalms he's praying
for deliverance from his enemies. But always confession of sin,
Daniel. Ezra, Nehemiah, all of them. Our sins are many. David said,
Pardon my sins, Lord, our sins, for they are great and there
are many. Secret sin. Presumptuous sins,
like we talked about. Ingratitude. The world's not thankful. How
thankful are we all the time? Do we ever murmur or complain? Do we ever murmur or complain? Not in our tents, though they
are tents, truly, they're temporary dwelling, but in our sealed houses,
like our Lord warned us about. Do we ever murmur or complain?
We have sins of ingratitude. We have sins of attitude, pride,
envy, jealousy, anger, wrath, malice, bitterness, Huh? Anybody? Forgetfulness. Sins of forgetfulness. The children
of Israel forget past mercy. They forget the pit from which
they were digging. They forgot. Look with me at
Deuteronomy 8. Deuteronomy 8. What about sins
of worldliness? Huh? The world. Things of the world. Enticest. Lust of the flesh. Lust of the
eyes. These things entice us. In Deuteronomy
chapter 8, this is where we get the song, All the way, my Savior
leads me. He says in Deuteronomy 8 verse
2, Remember, thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy
God led thee these forty years in the wilderness to humble thee,
to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart. Verse 3, And he
humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with
manna. the lesson the message on how the Lord proved his people
with. Many of them said they got tired
of the man and they were not thankful for the man and the
Lord. And if we get tired of the gospel
the Lord tires of us. And look at verse 10 of Deuteronomy
when thou hast eaten and are full. Then thou shalt bless the
Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware
that thou forget not the Lord thy God in not keeping his commandments
and his judgments and his statutes which I command thee this day,
lest when thou hast eaten and are full and hast built goodly
houses and dwelt therein, and thy herds and thy flocks multiply,
and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou
hast is multiplied, then thine heart be lifted up, and thou
forget the Lord thy God which brought thee forth out of the
land of bondage from the land house of bondage who led thee
through that great and terrible wilderness and it goes on and
on to say who fed thee who protected thee who watched over thee and
you forget me how do we forget him think mostly of things think
mostly of people And our time, our money on ourselves, on the
world and things, and forget God. Like the church at Ephesus,
that is no more. It's not there anymore. And it's
a laughingstock to the Middle East now. That church where Ephesus
was. Because they forget their first
love. And the Lord told them, do the
first works. Repent and do the first work.
What's that? Diligence, consecration, worship
of the Lord. The people back then when the
Lord, when David first, Solomon first did this great thing and
the dedication of the house, they all wouldn't have missed
that foot. Anybody. Not anyone. And a few years later, other
things. Anybody guilty? Anybody guilty? So the Lord shuts heaven. And then you begin to wonder,
is his mercies clean? No. He'd be right to do it. Then
you wonder, do his mercies endure forever? Shuts up head. Why? You can't
blame him. You can't blame us. At first,
these people were singing at the top of their lungs. When
Solomon dedicated that house, and the Lord's fire came, and
the glory that filled that house, they were singing at the top
of their lungs. And after a little while, they
were near with their lips. And God shut the heavens. Shut
it up. Shut it up. And though the Lord
withholds blessings, The rain stops. And where there's no rain,
there's no fruit. There's no love. There's no joy. There's no peace. There's no
long supper. There's envy and jealousy and
bitterness and anger. No, no faith. Only doubts and
fears and worries and unbelief. Gentleness, goodness, meekness,
temperance. Oh my, the Lord shuts the heaven.
He shuts the heaven. Look at verse, in our text, chapter
7, verse 13. He says, If I command the locust
to devour the land, I send pestilence among my people. What's that?
The locust and the pestilence. That's our thoughts and cares
and the cares of this world, a constant barrage and a constant
buzz in our hearts and our minds. We can never get any peace from
it. Why? Because God's shut the heaven. Can't get any peace. All we hear is trouble, trouble,
trouble. Thoughts and care. What can we
do? What can we do? What's the center
to do? I remember my pastor preaching.
What can a center do? They say anything we can do.
Anything. That the Lord will open the heavens
again. Yes. All right. Look at it. Bad news. Look at this, verse
14, if my people, which are called by my name, sons of God, Christians,
Christ's people, his followers, his disciples, if they shall
humble themselves, humble themselves. Remember, we went through the
whole book of James. He said, humble yourselves in
the sight of the Lord. Humble yourselves. He will exalt
you in due time. Humble themselves. And pray,
he said. Pray. Pray. Pray and seek my face. Look at chapter 6 again real
quickly. Chapter 6. I had about, I wanted
to read almost the whole chapter. I told one of the brethren, Oh,
I'd love to read the whole chapter, but can't. I don't have time. You read it. Verse 24. If thy
people, Israel. Chapter 6, verse 24. If thy people,
Israel, be put to the worst. This is God speaking through
Christ to us. If they put the worst before
the enemy because they've sinned, and shall return and confess
thy name in the name of Christ, and pray, call, whosoever calls
on the name of the Lord, what can we do? Without him, nothing. That's why he says in every verse,
pray, if my people will call, if they will pray, see what happened
to them is they quit. Abraham went down to Egypt. You
don't hear about him praying much. He got in real trouble.
Denied his wife twice. Jacob went down to Paddanaram.
That whole story of all that trouble with his family. There's
not one single verse that mentions him praying and worshiping God.
Not one. Simon Peter got lifted up with
pride, didn't he? He said they won't He didn't
say, if you will, Lord. He said, I won't. I won't. I
won't. And he sat with the world. He
sat with the world. And he ended up cursing God and
denying the Lord. And I pray him that my people
will humble themselves out of sin and pray unto the Lord and
confess thy name in the name of Christ and make supplication
in the name of Christ. Then hear thou from heaven, verse
25, and forgive. I know you noticed how many times
he said, if they'll pray, then hear and forgive. Look at verse
26. When the heavens shut up, there's
no rain because they've sinned against thee, if they pray toward
thee, toward Christ and confess thy name and turn from their
sin. It's not just enough to pray, but turn. If we confess
our sin and turn and forsake them, Proverbs says, Proverbs
28. Let the wicked man forsake his way and turn to the Lord.
He'll abundantly pardon. Verse 27. Then hear thou from
heaven and forgive. Look at verse 28. If there be
dearth in the land, pestilence, blasphemy, mildew, and so on.
Verse 29. Then whatever prayer is made
by any man, whosoever prays or calls, Or all of them, if they
all do it, I'll hear them all. Isn't God good? They left Him, that He will not
leave them. And it was the Lord's mercies
that He made them know that heaven was shut off. And here, verse 30, And from
thy dwelling place, and forgive, forgive, And he went on to say,
those that know their hearts. And first Kings 5, he says, those
that know the plague of their hearts. The proneness of their
hearts to sin against the Lord. Moreover, verse 32, whatever
stranger comes in, when he hears the name of the Lord, if he comes
and he prays, I'll hear him too. Oh, if there's anybody in here
that doesn't know the Lord and you want to know the Lord, call. He'll hear you. And he'll do
for you what you want. What do you reckon the strangers
prayed unto the Lord for? I know what they prayed. Make
us one of your people. Rebuke yourself to us. Make us
one of the children of Israel. Okay. Down in verse 34, he says,
If your people go to war against their enemies by the way I send
them, and they pray toward Christ, Then here, verse 35, from heaven,
hear the supplication. Verse 36, if they sin against
thee, there's not one that doesn't. There's no man which sinneth
not. And you're angry with them and deliver them over their enemies
and carry them away captive. How many times have we been carried
away captive? Yet if they bethink themselves, verse 37, if you
bring them to themselves, like the prodigal son, how many times
have we played the prodigal? How many times will we? The Lord
is so good, His mercy endures forever. If they bethink themselves,
if they get back in the hog pen again, if the sheep wanders off
again, and the Lord brings them to themselves, and it's of the
Lord's goodness that they just repent. And they pray. He hears them. Every time. Every time. It's not one time
in here that he says, that's it. It's over. You're going to
pray. I'm not going to hear you. Not
once. Go back to our text in closing,
it says in verse 14, he says, chapter 7, verse 14, they turn,
then will I hear from heaven. and will forgive their sin and
will heal their land. Mine eyes will be open, mine
ears attentive unto the prayer that's made in this place, that
is, in Christ's name, for this is the house I've chosen and
sanctified, that my name be there forever. And mine eyes and my
heart shall be there perpetually. And over in chapter 6, it says,
I'll send rain again. And they'll think, oh, showers
of blessing on the thirsty land. Forgive me, Lord. Forgive me,
Lord. Stand with me. Our Lord and our God, in the
name of thy blessed Son, we pray, knowing from your Word, from
your blessed promises, that you hear us for Christ's sake. Our
Lord and our God, we confess our sins, like Daniel of old,
like Ezra, like all your faithful men. We confess our sins, all
of us, unto thee. O Lord, unto thee belongs righteousness. And to us belong confusion of
faces. And to thee, O Lord, belong mercies
and salvation. And to us, well, thou hast not
dealt with us according to our sins, have rewarded us according
to our iniquity. Oh, but we've received of the
Lord's hand mercy and grace double for all our iniquity. And how
we thank you through Christ our Lord, that blessed sacrifice
that was made for this house for this church house for these
people. For us, the temple of the Lord. Bless thy holy name
for sending Christ to die for our sins. O Lord, forgive us
our sins. Wash us from our sins. Cleanse
us. Mold us. Make us. Shape us. Conform
us in the image of thy blessed son. Keep us from sins. And remind us, though, if any
man sins, we have an advocate, Jesus Christ of Angels. In his
name we pray and give thanks. Amen. You're dismissed.
