Let me take the lead, swing now
a grip in my heart, rise to glory now. Alright, thank you John and Sherry. Go back to the text now, Psalm
25. The title and the subject of
this psalm is, Psalm of a Sincere Seeker. Or we could name it,
Prayer of a Sorry Sinner. David's prayer. He keeps praying
unto the Lord and asking for mercy and help. Prayer of a sorry sinner. Verse
1, he says, "...Unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul." Oh, my
God. I trust in Thee. Let me not be
ashamed. I lift up my soul. All that I am, all that I am
I lift unto Thee. Cast all my care upon You, David
said. I lift up my soul, my heart,
my mind, my soul unto Thee. Thou art my God, he said. My Lord. Oh my God. Oh my God. You know, I pointed
this out to you before, but that little letter O is a powerful,
powerful word. If you'll notice, If you pay
attention, you'll see that little letter on every page in the psalm. Oh, Lord. Oh, my soul. Oh, bring me out of distresses.
Oh, Lord, teach me my path. Oh, Lord. Oh, love the Lord,
ye His saints. Oh, Lord. Oh, ye saints, give
thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. Oh, oh, oh. Do
we not explain that all the time? Oh, my soul. Oh, my God. I thought
if only our nation and if only people, individually, would cry
that from the depths of their heart unto God. Oh, my God. Have mercy. The Lord would send
us a revival, wouldn't He? It would save their soul. But
tragically, sadly, they say that blasphemously. Oh Lord, but God's
people, oh Lord, oh my God, I trust in Thee. I love that word trust.
All my confidence. That song we just sang, that's
a good prayer. If you sang that from the heart,
that's a good prayer. All my trust in Thee is in Thee. All my hope is in Thee. I trust
in You. You reckon the Lord will let
someone down who trusts in Thee? No, no, no, no, no. Jeremiah
said this. He said, Well, Ron read this. He read this in Isaiah 45 tonight. Let me see if I can find it.
It says, They that trust in the Lord shall
be safe. Now, Jeremiah said this. He said, Cursed be the man that
trusteth in man. and maketh flesh his arm, and
whose heart departeth from the Lord, he'll be like heath in
the desert, the parched land. But blessed is the man, is the
person that trusteth in the Lord, whose hope the Lord is. He'll
be like a tree planted by the water. His roots will be like
a tree by the river. And a drought comes, he'll yield
fruit. Oh, Lord. David said, Oh my God,
I trust in Thee. Let me not be ashamed. You know, we're ashamed of ourselves,
aren't we? We're ashamed of our sinfulness. We're ashamed of our unbelief. We're ashamed of everything about
ourselves. We're ashamed of it. So David
says in a prayer, Lord, I'm tired of being ashamed. I'm tired of
being ashamed of myself. Let me not be ashamed. Let me
not be ashamed. And you know, Paul once wrote
to young Timothy and said, Be not ashamed of the gospel. Aren't you tired of being ashamed
and not speaking up? Aren't you tired of being a coward?
Oh Lord, let me not be ashamed. David was there. David lived
in places like in Gath and acted like a madman, acted like an
unbeliever, and he was ashamed. He didn't speak out. Oh Lord,
let me not be ashamed. This also means disappointed. Lord, I trust in Thee. Let me
not be disappointed. You know, we're all going to
be disappointed in one another. You're going to be disappointed
in every single friend and every single brother we have. Man,
all of us are going to disappoint one another. We'll let each other
down. You know, there's one person that's been the greatest disappointment
of all to me. Myself. I'm ashamed of myself. I'm at
the age now where I ought to know something. I ought to learn
something. or to act right, believe, or
to love right, I'm a big disappointment to me. But if you trust in the
Lord, you'll never be disappointed in Him. You'll never be disappointed. Oh Lord, I trust in Thee. Let me not be disappointed. Let
not mine enemies triumph over me. Oh my! We have many enemies,
don't we? The world, the flesh, and the
devil, but our two arch enemies, or that adversary that's constantly assaulting
us, Satan, and perhaps the worst one of all resides within us. Let this enemy called my old
man triumph over me. Oh Lord, You said, You said.
I was talking to a brother the other day and he said, you know,
we ought to pray Scripture. You ought to pray Scripture.
If you'd like for something to pray, this is a prayer. Lord, let not mine enemies try
up over me. You said sin will not have dominion
over me. You said that. Plead His promises. The Lord
loves that. Yea, verse 3, let none that wait on Thee be ashamed.
David was praying for himself, but David loved God's people.
He was a companion of them that feared him. He loved God's people. You cannot love God and not love
them that are begotten of God. And that's how we know. And David
was thinking about himself, but then he thought about his brethren. He said, let none of my brethren
be ashamed. Let none of them. Let none of them. But let them,
verse 3, let them be ashamed which transgress without a cause.
Let them be ashamed that transgress without a cause. You know that
all sin against God is without cause. All the sin that men and
women commit is against God. The unbelief, the rebellion is
against God. It's without cause. God is good. His tender mercies are over all
His works. His compassions, they fail not.
God has compassion on all. He feeds everyone. He clothes
everyone. It provides for everyone. If
anyone asks anything, the Lord grants it pretty much. Any sin
against God is without a cause. And so He says, let those be
ashamed. Let them be ashamed that transgress without a cause.
Lord, O God, verse 4, show me Thy ways, O Lord. Teach me Thy
paths. Teach me thy paths, thy ways. Now we know that Christ is the
way, don't we? Look at verse 8. Good and upright
is the Lord, therefore will he teach sinners in the way. Christ, the way. Verse 9. The meek will he teach his way. The way of salvation is in Christ.
Verse 12. Him that feareth the Lord he
will teach in the way that he shall choose. We know that Christ
is the way. But David says, teach me thy
ways, O Lord, and teach me thy paths. Well, there are God's
ways, and then there are man's ways. There are the paths of
righteousness, and then there are paths of wickedness. David
says, and I say, and we say, we pray with David, teach me
thy ways and thy paths. Order my step. Put my feet in
thy path. Show me thy ways." All that God
is and His way. You know, we say that about someone,
He has a certain way about them. The ways of God. Listen to this. Isaiah 55. He says, My thoughts
are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways my ways,
saith the Lord. He said, As the heavens are higher
than the earth, so are my ways. Higher than your ways. What ways? He was just talking about mercy. He said, you let the wicked forsake
his way, the unrighteous man his thoughts. The wicked now.
And the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return unto the Lord
and the Lord will have mercy on him. He will have mercy on
him. Doesn't matter how wicked. How far off. And the Lord will
have mercy upon him and turn to our God and He'll not only
have mercy, He'll abundantly pardon. Like that prodigal son. That's the Lord's ways. Oh Lord,
show me. Show me this. And put my feet
in those paths of righteousness. For Thy name's sake. The ways
of the Lord. Teach me. Show me. He says in
verse 5 of our text, lead me in thy truth. Lead me. And teach me. Teach me thy truth. The Lord says, this is the way,
walk in it. That's what the Lord said. This
is the way. Walk in it. It's not a way, it's the way.
Lord, lead me. In Thy Word, in Thy truth, in
paths of righteousness for Thy namesake. Let me walk like Christ. Let me walk with Christ. Let
me look to Him. Teach me. Teach me to walk as
He walked. Teach me to look to Him. Lead
me. Teach me. Thou art the God, verse
5, of my salvation. You're my God, the God of my
salvation. All of God's people know. That
God is the one who chose them. God is the one who had mercy
on them. Christ is the one who died for them. The Holy Spirit
is the one who brought the gospel to them, revealed the gospel
to them. And if they're kept, it will be by the power of God.
All of God's people know that. That He is the God of our salvation. That's why we cry unto Him. Without
Him, we can do nothing. He's the God of our salvation.
And look at this. And this is something David says
throughout the Psalms. On Thee do I wait. On Thee do I wait. All day long. On Thee do I wait. What does
it mean to wait on the Lord? He says this often. Some of you
love the psalm right across the page. Psalm 27. Don't you? It says in verse 14, Wait on
the Lord. Be of good courage. And He shall
strengthen thy heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord." To
wait on the Lord means to have a desire to Him, to desire His
mercy, to desire His grace, to seek His help, to seek His salvation. To wait on the Lord is to have
a desire to His salvation. David said that in Psalm 27,
verse 4. One thing have I desired, that
will I seek after. that I may dwell in the house
of the Lord all the days of my life. To wait on the Lord is
to desire His salvation, to desire Him. I wait on Thee, David said. To wait on the Lord is to delight
in Him, to desire Him, to delight in Him and depend upon Him. This
is to wait on the Lord. To desire Him, that you might
receive mercy from Him, grace from Him, help, salvation from
Him, like the man at the pool of Bethesda was waiting on the
moving of the water. To wait on the Lord is to delight
in the Lord, like a lover we've been reading and studying Solomon. How the lover had to wait on
the Lord to come to her, like a lover waiting on her beloved,
waiting on His return, waiting on Him. Those that love the Lord
are waiting on Him. To wait on the Lord means to
depend upon Him, like a servant looking to his master, waiting
on a word from Him. I wait for a word from you, like
a dog waiting on his master. Waiting on a word. Waiting on
His will. Waiting on His wisdom. Waiting on His grace. Waiting.
Watching and waiting. Asking. Wait, I say. He said, I wait all day long.
Verse 5. Don't you want to be that way?
You know when we get in trouble, don't you? When we don't wait. When we don't seek His will.
When we run ahead of Him. That's when we get in trouble
every time. Wait on Him all the day long. You know, the day may
be long, and the night may be long. But David said in another
psalm, he said, My soul waiteth on Thee more than they that watched
of the morning. I say, more than they that watched
of the morning. Keep waiting, and the night may be long. Weeping
may endure for a night. What's the promise? Joy will
come in the morning. The Lord will come. He's good
to all them that Wait on Him. Wait. The night may be long,
the day may be long, but keep waiting. You'll come. The night,
the day may be dark and dreary. Wait. Light will come. The day may be stormy, the winds
contrary, tempests strong. But wait, you'll
soon be safe on shore. Wait, I say, all day long. Don't make a move. Wait. Remember,
verse 6, Remember, O Lord, Thy tender mercies and Thy loving kindnesses. They've
been ever of old. You've been that way from the
beginning to the first sinners. Isn't this our constant cry?
If you had a favorite psalm, what would it be? And let me
just venture a guess. Psalm 51. Every sinner loves
Psalm 51. How does that begin? Have mercy
on me, O God, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness, according
to the multitude of Thy tender mercies. Isn't this the heart's
cry of every sinner? O Lord, remember Thy tender mercy. And Thy lovingkindness is...
You know, I don't... I'm your pastor, I'm supposed
to be. Well, I am. And some of you esteem me that
way, most of you. I don't always recommend messages
that I preach to you. Sometimes I do. I know when the
Lord has given me a message for you. And that's when I recommend
that you hear it again, especially if you didn't hear it the first
time. But there was a message that
we brought from Psalm 107 entitled, What we can't remember, the Lord
can't forget. And what we can't forget, the
Lord can't remember. Go back and listen to that. That's
Psalm 107. Just read the psalm for yourself. What a blessing.
David asked the Lord, Remember, O Lord, Thy tender mercies. Oh,
He will. He won't forget. You'll forget Him. You'll forget
His mercies, but He can't forget you. You'll deny Him, but John,
he can't deny himself. Oh, and then he asked, verse
7, remember not. He asked him to remember His
mercies and love and kindness, but something he doesn't want
the Lord to remember, the sins of my youth. Oh my. Oh my. Youth. Youth. Sins of youth. Ignorance. So ignorant. So foolish. We hurt
people. Don't give it a thought. Didn't
we? Caused people so much hurt. Oh,
the pain and suffering I caused so many that loved me so. The
worry, the fears, the troubles I caused and didn't give it a
thought. Like that prodigal. Didn't give
a thought what my father was going through. Didn't give a
thought. But the Lord has forgotten that.
Whacked it out. Blotted it out. Don't remember the sins of my
youth. You know, we can't forget them. Wouldn't you like to be
able to forget your past? Can't do it. But I tell you this,
the time when we do get, if we do get lifted up in pride, and
we all do, If we get lifted up in pride and we take His mercy
for granted and we get caught up in presumption, David asks
forgiveness of that. Keep back thy servant from presumptuous
sin. What's presumptuous sin? Not
presuming upon His mercy, not crying out for mercy, not being
grateful for His mercy and thankful for His mercy. And we do. And soon as we start taking His
mercy for granted and presuming upon it and forget the sins of
our youth, we'll repeat them. The Lord will allow us to do
it again. And then you talk about being
low then. So, it's a good thing. that your sin is ever before
you. That's a good thing. Because
it will keep you crying unto the Lord. David said, my sin
is ever before me. There was a while when it wasn't.
And he's hurting a lot of people. And then the Lord through Nathan
came to him and said, thou art the man. And from then on, his
sin was ever before. And that's good because he wrote
half the Psalms after that. Half the Psalms that we can Enter into it. Sinners like us. Remember not the sins of my youth,
nor my transgressions, how I just wholesale broke the law. Transgression
of the law. According to thy mercy, remember
thou me for thy goodness sake, O Lord. This is one of those
sayings that we need to guard against ever making. We say so
many things, oh for goodness sake, don't do that anymore. I've done it. David says, Remember me for thy
goodness sake. This is the way we need to pray
that. For goodness sake. Oh, for goodness sake, remember
me. For thy goodness sake. The Lord is good. He is good. Good and upright, verse 8, is
the Lord. Therefore will He teach sinners in the way. This gospel
is for sinners. He'll teach sinners. He didn't
come to call the righteous. He came to call sinners. He didn't
come to reward the good. He came to save the bad, show
mercy to the bad. He's good. He's upright. He'll
teach sinners in the way, the meek, verse 9. And I want to
hurry a little bit. The meek will He guide in judgment. The meek will He teach His way. That's humble. The meek. You
know, Moses was called by the Lord Himself the meekest man
on earth. None meek as Moses. None humble
as Moses. What did the Lord show him? Everything. Oh Lord, I'm so ignorant. I'm
so weak. Let me be meek. Let me be humble.
You know who the Lord will teach? He'll teach the ignorant. If
we think we know something. You know who the Lord will lead?
Those that are prone to wander. That's who he'll lead. You know
who the Lord will find? The lost. That's who. He'll teach sinners in the way.
The meek will He guide in judgment. The meek will He teach His way.
That's Christ. The way, the truth, and the life.
Salvation is God's way. Sovereign mercy in Jesus Christ. That's for the meek. That's for
the humble. That's for sinners. That's for
the unrighteous. That's for the ungodly. That's
who Christ died for, the ungodly. And He'll teach them that. He'll
keep it from others. Read verse 10. All the paths
of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant,
His testimony. All the paths of the Lord, all
the providence of our Lord, all the leadings of our Lord, everything,
all the way our Savior leads us ends in mercy. That's what that
Deuteronomy Six was where the Lord said, remember all the way
I led you. Someday we're going to see that,
that all His providential dealings, all His leadings, everything
He brought our way ended in mercy. All the paths of the Lord. That's
the ways He brings us through, are mercy and truth, according
to His Word. You know, God is true to His
Word. He'll do exactly what He said. If you trust Him, He'll
do exactly what He said, exactly what He promised. If you act
according to His promise, God will do it. In all the paths
of the Lord, in mercy and truth, unto such as keep His covenant.
That's what they mean. Lay hold of Christ and the Gospel
and God's Word and His promises and His testimony. Lay hold of
them and do and obedient and walk according to His Word. Then David starts to think about
his sin again. He can't help it. He says, I know that you're
good to Israel, he said in Psalm 73, the upright. I know you're
good to the upright, but as for me, but as for me, my foot will not
slip. It's almost gone. So he says, O Lord. See that? Over and over. Verse 11, For
thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. This is one of those verses that
every preacher I know has made a message from that one verse.
Pardon my iniquity, O Lord. For thy name's sake, pardon my
iniquity, for it is great. It is great. You know, salvation
is for a great sinner. A great sinner. And it's for His name's sake?
Listen to this. The Lord said that He saved people,
not for their sake. It's the only thing I'm going
to say about false religion. Here's what they say. Everybody deserves
a chance to be saved. Once again, nothing could be
further from the truth. Every sinner deserves to go to
hell. All have sinned and come short
of the glory of God. All have rebelled against their
Creator. All of them have shaken their fist in the hand. I have.
Shaken their fist in the face of God. All have been ungrateful.
God's not in all their thoughts. No, no one deserves a chance
to be saved. Salvation is not by chance and it's not by deserving
it. It's by sovereign mercy. Sovereign
mercy. He saves whom He will. And it's
mercy, not desert, that is, deserving it. And this is what Moses asked
the Lord. He said, show me your glory.
This is the Lord's glory. Solomon said, it's the glory
of a man to pass over a transgression. It's a man's glory to pass over
a transgression. Somebody offends him. Somebody
does something against him. Somebody deserves to be punished.
It's the glory of that man, according to his character, if he's a man
of great mercy and love and grace, to just pass over it. This is our Lord's chief glory.
And he said, here's what I'm going to do, Moses. I will make
my goodness pass before you. I will proclaim the name of the
Lord before thee. This is what David's praying.
For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity. It's great.
Mine. And the Lord says, I'll proclaim
the name of the Lord. Here it is. The Lord. God our
Savior. The Lord God. Your Creator, Your
Controller, Your Ruler, Your Owner, Your Judge, Your Provider,
Your Benefactor. Merciful. That's my name, He
said. He will pardon iniquity because that's His name. He's
ready to pardon. God ready to pardon. And gracious. That's His name. He gives and
gives and gives more grace. That's His name. Long-suffering. This is His name. And abundant in goodness and
truth. Oh, my. Pardon my iniquity. It's great.
What man is he that feareth the Lord? Verse 12. What man is he
that feareth the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way
that he shall choose. All these things go together,
don't they? Meekness, waiting on the Lord, fearing the Lord,
trusting the Lord. What man is he that feareth the
Lord? This is the beginning of wisdom. Him, that person that
fears the Lord, he'll teach in the way that he shall choose.
He'll teach him in the way that he shall go. The man that fears
the Lord, the man that the Lord puts the fear of God in his heart
or mine or the woman. Isn't that what happened to Ruth? He taught her the way she should
go. Didn't he? Ruth and Orpah. Who made the
difference? God death. The Lord put the fear
of God in Ruth and not in Orpah. Let Orpah go the way she chose. What did she choose? Her family
and her gods, her old God. But Ruth, she put the fear of
God in her. And what way did she choose? Your God is my God, she said
to Naomi. Verse 13, that's your soul will
dwell at ease. The person, the man that fears
the Lord, your soul will be at ease. Fear of the Lord. You know, to draw nigh unto God
is to fear Him. Fear of being away from Him. Fear of being far from Him. Because
you'll do anything if you're not nigh unto Him. If you're
not real close to Him. If He's not holding you by the
hand. If you're not seeking Him, if you're not looking to Him,
you'll do anything. You'll fall in a net. You'll fall in a pit. You'll dig a pit for yourself
and fall into it. if you're not near to it. I taught my dog and
the trainer that I studied trained 17,000 dogs. And she said, the
first thing you need to teach that dog to do is to sit and
heal. It's not to show your mastery
over it, but to keep it from killing itself. Keep it from
running ahead of you. Teach it to always stay by your
side. Never get away from you. Stay
right there. You're doing it for their safety,
for their salvation. As long as my dog was by my side,
he's safe. And he's at ease. And I'm talking
to him. I'm comforting him. I'm petting
him. When he gets away, he starts
chasing deer. One time he chased a deer. He knew better, but he
ran right over and he got lost. And he was lost. And I had to
find him. Put out a reward on that old
dog. And I found him. But after that, no more deer. He stayed real close. I thought
he'd lost me forever. Oh, your soul will be at ease.
Your soul will be at ease. You see, you'll inherit the earth.
Freedom. That's the seed of Christ. Christ is the heir. We're His
joint heirs and we'll inherit a new earth, a new kingdom. Trust
in Him, fear Him, look to Him, believe Him, keep His covenant,
His testimony. Verse 14, the secret of the Lord
is with them that fear Him. He'll show them His covenant.
Those that fear the Lord, He'll show them His covenant. The secret
of the Lord. What's the secret? You know,
somebody wrote a book years ago, The Secret. Some woman wrote
a book, The Secret. And you might know that they
sold millions of copies of that. Millions of copies. It was endorsed
by Oprah. It must be good if Oprah endorsed
it. No, I read through it and there's
not one mention of God or Jesus Christ in it. The secret of the
Lord is with them that fear Him. He'll show them His covenant. That's the secret, John. That's
the secret that people don't know. He hides these things from
the wise and prudent, and reveals them unto babe. Those that fear
the Lord, he'll show them his secret. Noah feared God. What
did God show him? I'm going to destroy this place. Nobody else saw it coming. God
told Noah a secret. I'm going to destroy this place.
Build an ark, Noah, and get your house in it. And just as sure
as I'm God, if you're in that house, in that ark, when the
overflowing scourge comes now, you will not come now, you. I'm
going to shut you in. Not for doing anything, but being
in the ark. I promise you, Noah, I'm going
to destroy this place." And everybody in the world thought, that's
a bunch of bull. Ha! Like they do now. And that's what Peter wrote.
Mockers shall come. Scoffers shall come. Ain't nothing
to this fire falling from heaven. God's revealed that to us and
our children. And we fear Him. That's why we
say, you need to get in the ark. You need to get to Christ. You
need to come to Christ. I mean today. This might happen tomorrow.
Christ might come tomorrow. Get in the ark now. Why tarry
you? Today's the day of salvation.
Get in the ark right now. He showed this secret to Noah.
He showed this secret to Abraham. Abraham was his friend. And he
showed him his covenant. He feared the Lord. He showed
him his covenant. He didn't show it to Abimelech
and the rest of them. He showed his secret to Daniel
and three Hebrews. He revealed unto them. Moses,
the meekest man, he showed him his word. It's a great honor. Listen to it. It's a great honor
when somebody reveals to you a secret. They have conferred
upon you great honor when they have something that is of great
importance and they're going to share it with you. They're
going to show you. They're going to call you and talk to you and
say, I've got something I want to tell you. There's a couple
down in Crossfield, Tennessee, Reba and Dirk and Reba Smith. A very dear couple. Years and
years ago, they went years without having children and wanted a
child. Finally, the Lord enabled Reba
to conceive. They called me and Mindy first
before they called anybody. That just overwhelmed us, didn't
it? Just overwhelmed us. You confer
a great honor on somebody. to reveal to them a precious
secret. That baby died a couple of years
later. Right before she died, she had
a birth defect and she died a couple of years later. She's with the
Lord. Right before she died, Dirk called Don, his pastor,
and me. to come into that hospital room
and anoint that child with oil and pray over her. What an honor. And the Lord healed her. Took her home. And to this day,
we're so close to Dirk and Regan. The secret of the Lord is with
them that fear Him. He'll show them His covenant.
He'll show them. He keeps it from others. David ends with
a prayer, "'My eyes, Lord, are ever toward the Lord. He shall
pluck my feet out of the nets.'" Pluck my feet out of the nets.
You know, my enemy is always spreading a net for me. And quite often, like I quoted
that proverb, if you dig a pit, you'll fall into it. Quite often I get in a net, don't you? This world is full of nets and
traps and pits that I am so prone to get into. And if you do, He
gives you this precious promise. If you call on Him, He'll pluck
your feet out of the nets. I told you that story of that
bird in my grape arbor. I'll tell you again. I had a
net covering that grape arbor to keep the birds off my grapes.
And I heard squawking and squawking and squawking. Well, I went down
and I delivered one bird out of it and then delivered another
bird out of it. And then I heard one day squawking and squawking
and there was a bird so caught up in that net, her feet were
so entangled in that net that she couldn't get out. And I went
down there and all the time I'm talking to her. Now, I had come
to deliver her. And I kept talking to her. It's
alright. It's alright. It's alright. And I held her
in my hands as I was cutting away that net. And that poor
bird died of fright in my hand. Just died. The Lord will pluck your feet
out of that net. No matter how many times you
get in it, and you're going to keep getting in it, I don't know how
many, I can't number the times I've got my feet caught in the
net. And I can't number the times he's got me out of it. But if
you call on him, he will pluck your feet. Don't die of fright.
Call on him. He will pluck your feet out of
the net. You have his word upon it. David said he will. Turn unto me and have mercy upon
me. I'm desolate and afflicted. Troubles of my heart are enlarged. There's no troubles quite like
heart troubles, are there? My, my. It won't go away. Oh, bring thou me out of my distress.
Oh, you see that? Oh, nobody can get me out of
this. Nobody can soothe my heart but
you, O Lord. Nobody can get me out. Oh, bring
me out. Look upon mine affliction and
my pain. Does he? His eye is ever toward us. And
forgive all my sins, not just my youth. If there's any sins
worse than youth, it's old age sins. We ought to know better. Forgive all my sins. Consider
mine enemies, Lord, there are many. They hate me with cruel
hatred, my adversary. Oh, keep my soul. Oh, deliver me. Keep my soul. Oh, Simon Peter knew this, didn't
he, that we're kept by the power of God. The Lord hadn't looked on Peter. Remember that day Peter denied
the Lord? And he's sitting by the fire
and says, the Lord looked at him. His eyes ever toward his people,
always looking upon them, even when they're not looking to him.
And Peter later wrote, Oh, we're kept by the power of God. Oh,
keep my soul, deliver me. You're my only hope. Let me not
be ashamed. He begins and ends this way,
doesn't he? I'm so ashamed. Let me not be ashamed. I put
my trust in Thee. That integrity, soundness. Oh
Lord, make me sound in the faith. Sound in faith, hope, and love. Uprightness, preserve me. For I wait on Thee. And then he's not going to close
this just praying for himself. He's got to pray for his brethren.
Redeem Israel, O God. Redeem your church. Redeem my
brethren. All that I ask for myself, I ask for my brethren. Redeem us all. Save us all out
of all our trouble. May the Lord bless that, for
His name's sake. Pray with me. Stand. Our God and our Father, thank
You. Your Word is our Thank you so much for all the blessed,
precious promises. All yea and amen in Christ Jesus. Sure and certain promises. Sure
mercies of the Son of David. All who trust in Thee. All who
trust in the Lord. All who trust in Him. None of
them will be ashamed. None of them will be desolate.
None will be found guilty. None. Not one. Not one. All who call upon Thee. For forgiveness
of sin, the greatest of sinners, you will have mercy. Delight
to show mercy. You will abundantly pardon. Oh
Lord, what precious promises. What precious promises. And oh
Lord, deliver us. Let us not fall into these traps
and nets, but when we do. Let us not sin, but when we do.
Remind us that we have an Advocate, Jesus Christ the Righteous. We
have a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, do this work for
someone that does not yet know You. Cause them to call on Your
name. Cause them to look to You. Cause
them to seek Your face. In Christ's name we pray. Amen. I know.
