But her dear Iron's face, I will
not hate that glory, But on my King of Grace, Not at the crown
He gives, But on His fearsome hand, Thank you. Luke chapter 9. Read verse 32
with me again. Luke 9, verse 32, Peter and they that
were with him were heavy with sleep. And when they were awake, they
saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. As we said, I hope we all can
pray that prayer with Moses. Lord, I beseech Thee, show me
Thy glory. If He does, that's sight for
the blind, that's life for the dead, that's salvation for sinners. This story of the Lord's transfiguration,
when His appearance It takes place, verse 28 says, about an
eight days after these sayings. After He said to them all down
there in verses 23 and 24, if any man will come after Me, let
him deny himself, take up his cross. Verse 25, He said, what
is a man advantaged if he gained the whole world and lose himself,
be cast away. What profit is to gain the whole
world and lose your soul? After he said that, then this
story happened. If we gain the whole world, what
we have gained is nothing. Solomon said, The son of David
said, vanity of vanity. It's all flesh. Anything to do
with this flesh is vanity. It's all vain glory. Vain and empty. The fortune,
the fame, the happiness that this world pretends to offer. It's all vain. It's empty. Nothing there. Well,
then he said, I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here which
shall not taste, verse 27, shall not taste of death till they
see the kingdom of God, till they see His glory, the King
in His glory. That's what the kingdom of God
is. One time he said the kingdom
of God doesn't come with observation. No here, no there. He said, the
kingdom of God is right in front of you. The dominion of the King. The King. Heaven is where He
is. What makes heaven heaven is He's
there. The King. And those who love
Him is subject. And the Lord is going to show
His three choice disciples, three of these disciples, what awaits
all who Come after Him. He's going to show them and us
what awaits all who lose their life. And it's a glorious sight. He's
going to show them something briefly to make them forget all
of that. Everything and everyone in this
world. to the point where everything
else will pale in comparison. Everything will fade from here
on out. Wouldn't you like to see that
same sight? After these sayings, after He
asks them, who do men say that I am? Well, He's going to show
them. He's going to show them. Who
do they say I am? And He's going to show them.
Now they're going to see Him as He is. And so shall we. And so have we, but through a
glass darkly or dimly. Verse 28 says about 8 days. About 8 days after these sayings.
Now, I was going to read it for you, but I want you to look at
that. Genesis chapter 2. Genesis chapter 2. About in eight
days, Matthew and Mark, this account is given in Matthew,
Mark, and Luke. And each gospel has, it's not
different, but each gospel has something to add, something to
add to the story. And in Matthew and Mark's account,
it says, after six days. Matthew 17, Mark 9. after six
days. Well, here it says about eight
days. So what day does that fall on? After six and almost eight. That's seven. That's the seventh day. All right,
look at this. There's no insignificant words
in Gospel. Nothing is given for the sake
of giving you a date. are giving you days. Daniel's
weeks, months, days, and so forth, all have eternal significance,
okay? After six days, about eight,
on the seventh day, they're going to see His glory. Look at Genesis
2. Verse 1, Thus the heavens and
the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on
the seventh day God ended His work which He had made, and He
rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.
And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because that
in it He had rested from all His work which God created and
made. Now, what is that talking about? A day? You know better. That's the Lord, our Sabbath. The Lord Jesus Christ, who is
the Lord of Sabbath, who finished the work of God, and who is our rest, in whom
we rest. And after the Lord finished that,
there's going to see They're going to see His glory. And listen,
beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that today, this is
a thousand years, Peter later wrote that, the Lord God said,
Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And when all
of His elect, His hosts are saved on the seventh day, it's finished. It's over. And we're all going
to see His glory. Are you ready for that? Let's
be as men who wait on the Lord. Until then, only a chosen few
see His glory. Not like these men. Go back to
the text. In verse 28, it came to pass about eight days after
these sayings, he took Peter and John and James and went up
into a mountain to pray. He took Peter and John and James. The Lord handpicked these men. The Lord chose these men to see
His glory. All men don't see His glory.
All men don't see Him as He is. Most just see Him as Jesus. But those whom God chooses, He
chooses to show them His glory. Isaiah 43, everyone that is called
by My name, I have created him for My glory. He said, you are My witnesses,
saith the Lord, My servant whom I have chosen that you may know
and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there
was no God formed. Neither shall there be after
me. I, even I, am the Lord. Beside me there is no Savior."
And didn't Gabe quote that for you from 1 John 5? And we know
that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding
that we may know Him that is true and we are in Him that is
true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal
life. So He chose Peter, John, and
James, and I believe He chose a chosen few in here tonight
to see His glory. But He took Peter, John, and
James and went up, it says, into a mountain to pray. He went up
into a mountain to pray. He took them up into a high place
to see His glory. Scripture says, brethren, it
won't be long until the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, that the trump
of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which
are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds to see His glory, to meet the Lord. And so shall
we ever be with the Lord. They'll comfort one another with
these words. It won't be long. Well, he took
them up on a mountain. And we see the Lord's glory on
Mount Zion, don't we? We're not coming to a mountain
that burns with fire and smoke and blackness. But Mount Zion,
and the Scripture says, the city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem,
and an innumerable company of angels to see His glory. So no less than Peter, James,
and John, He's taken us up to see His glory. Mount Zion. New
Jerusalem. Look at it. Verse 28. It says,
He went up there to pray. He went up there to pray. He
took them up there to pray. Our Lord prayed often, didn't
He? He's often found praying. In fact, He prayed without ceasing. I
know that for a fact. And the disciples were often
with Him and heard Him pray. Thank the Lord. Thank the Lord
they heard His prayers. Thank the Lord that He gave them
His prayers for us to read later. And times like this, over in
John 12, they were walking along And the Lord all of a sudden
just said, Father, glorify thy name. And there came a voice from heaven
that said, I have both glorified it and will also glorify it again. And some said it thundered. And you and I have always We've
remembered that, haven't we? That whenever you hear the thunder,
you hear what God is saying. It has something to do with the
glory of God. The glory of God in the person
of Christ. Well, John 17. Our Lord prayed that prayer,
didn't He? What did He say? He lifted up His eyes to heaven.
These words speak Jesus as He lifted up His eyes into heaven
and said, Can you quote the rest of it?
Glorify thy son. That he may glorify thee. It's
all about his glory, he said. That's what he prayed for. That's
what he prayed that we might see. That's what this is all
about. God created his people, everything
for his glory. The heavens and the earth were
created for his glory. He recreates, regenerates, saves
people for His glory. To behold His glory. And for
them to be with Him in glory. That's what this is all about.
Well, so He took these chosen few up on a mountain to pray.
Pray what? Lord, show them my glory. May we pray that right now. Show
them who He really is. who He really is, to see Him
as He is. You know, if we see the Lord
as He is, high and lifted up. Isaiah said, I saw the Lord high
and lifted up. If we see the Lord high and lifted
up, as we said, everything else will
pale. Everything else will fade. Our troubles will fade. Our worries,
our fears will be reduced. They won't completely go away
because we're fled. Our peace will be greater. Our
faith will be strengthened. Our comfort will be assured.
Our confidence will be stronger. If we just see Him as He is.
If we see the Lord seated on a throne, reigning and ruling,
To see Him who did what He did. This is what this story, the
heart, the soul, the crux, the crucifix of this matter, is that
Christ came to do something. And He did it. And He did it for His glory and
He did it for us to be in glory. Be with Him in His glory. And
to see that sight, There's nothing to worry about.
I mean, everything is. I feel so helpless here. But it's life, it's peace, it's
joy, it's confidence. I believe the disciples for just
a few days anyway, when they walked down off this mountain,
they were walking on a cloud. They were walking six feet off,
six inches off the ground. And for a few days or a few hours
anyway, they didn't have a care in the world. They didn't have
a fear in the world. They had no troubles whatsoever. Anything
anybody said to them, anything that was offered to them, any
temptation, any enticement or anything, it meant nothing to
them. Why? They had seen Him. That's why
when we see Him someday, when we're finally with Him, the former
heaven and earth will not be remembered nor come to mind.
The sun is going to eclipse all that. It won't even come to mind. Even the first earth that was
a paradise in itself, there's going to be nothing compared. I hadn't seen, here hadn't heard.
These men did though, a little bit. And for a time, they had
perfect peace, perfect assurance, fullness of joy, and absolute,
unbreakable confidence. How? Just seeing who Christ was. and hearing about what he accomplished. Alright, verse 9. As he prayed,
it says, his countenance, the fashion of his countenance was
altered. What it was, was what he was
wearing, he peeled it back. The robe of flesh that he was
wearing, this body that had been prepared him, He peeled it back
for them to see Him. And it says His raiment was white
and Matthew's account says this, it says His face shone as the
sun. Well, turn to Revelation 1. It
says His raiment was as white as the light. Mark said, whiter
than snow, whiter than any fuller's soap. This is one of the reasons we
resent these pictures so-called that they make of Jesus. Number one, God said, don't make
any graven image. Didn't He? Don't do it. This is abomination. Don't make
it. There's no description of the
Lord Jesus Christ of His earthly, physical appearance. He did not
have long hair, I can tell you that. Alright? There's no physical
description of Him in this Bible, is there? That's by design. We don't worship a picture. We
worship a living Lord. The Lord put away the types and
pictures and symbols and figures, didn't He? He put all those things
away. That's the shadow. We have the
substance, the real person. Plus, a picture can't do Him
justice. You can't paint the sun. You can't even look at it. Some idiot that's called the
painter of light, He hadn't painted the sun. You
can't paint light. You can't look at the sun. It
blinds you. This is what our Lord really looks like. Our Lord
said, no man hath seen nor can see Him. He dwells in light which
no man can approach unto. This is the Lord Jesus Christ
as He is, not as He was. covered in flesh. But as He is,
Revelation 1, John saw Him. Verse 14, His head, His hair
were white like wool, white as snow. His eyes as a flame of
fire. His feet like undefined brass
as burned in a furnace. His voice as the sound of many
waters. He had in his right hand seven stars, out of his mouth
went a sharp two-edged sword, and his countenance was as the
sun shining in his strength. And he fell down as a dead man. Couldn't take the sight in, in
his flesh. Couldn't see. Even the angels cover their faces,
don't they? His fashion, his countenance,
his appearance changed. He reigned with white and glistening.
Now, they saw him as he is, not as he was. A man named Jesus
had no beauty. He had no beauty, Scripture says,
nor form or comeliness that we should desire him. But he was
a plain brown-skinned Jew. Probably brown eyes, I'm certain
of it. He's a Jew. Plain brown-skinned Jew. He wore a simple robe without
seeing, but a very simple robe out of a peasant's garment. Because
he was poor. And it was a brown robe. I'm quite sure it was brown about
the color of badger skin. I'm certain of that. Well, that
plain man in those plain clothes named Jesus is all that they
saw then, and that's about all they see now. That's about all people see now.
And that's what he asked them, who do men say that I am? And
some of them said, well, they say you're John the Baptist.
Well, that would be a compliment to me. If someone thought I was
the next John the Baptist, I'd say, well, thank you. Well, I
don't deserve that. Some said, well, he's Elijah.
If they said that of Stan, he'd say, well, I don't deserve such
a title as that. Or one of the prophets, I'm assuming they alluded
to Moses, the greatest of all the prophets. And if that was
said about some man today, he would just take that as a highest
compliment. That was no compliment to this
man. That diminished his glory. In
fact, those men, are the ones that showed up to see His glory. That's by design too. Behold,
they were with Him. Verse 30. They talked with Him,
two men, which were Moses and Elijah. Moses and Elijah talked
with Him. God sent two witnesses. Two men
to bear witness to these disciples who this is. and us, to bear
witness to us of who this is. Moses represents the law. The
law of Moses. Elijah represents the prophets,
doesn't it? The prophets. And Paul wrote
in Romans, he said, the righteousness of God, without the law, that
is without us keeping it, is now witnessed by the law. and the prophets. Our Lord said, Moses wrote of
Me. He told the Pharisees, you look
at the law and you think you have life, you think you're keeping
the law. It's about Me. Moses wrote of Me. Our Lord said,
and the Scripture says, to Him give all the prophets witness.
To the Lord Jesus Christ, all the prophets. up to John, who
was the last, give witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. And now
these men are come to talk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Moses,
who represents the law. Elijah, who represents all the
prophets. In other words, all the Old Testament
scriptures has met together to bear witness of the Lord Jesus
Christ. And they're going to talk about
something. You know how much has taken place
in time. At this point, it's 4,000 years. And so they're going to talk
about a deep subject. What would these men talk about?
Moses, Elijah, the Lord Jesus Christ are going to talk about
something. Three great men are going to get together and they're
going to talk about something. What are they going to talk about?
Creation? Oh, that's wonderful. Oh, it's
glorious. The heavens declare His glory.
The firmament showeth His heavenly work. Day after day, others speak.
No language, that voice is not heard. What about the flood? Oh, it's amazing. What are they talking about? Look at it. It says in verse
31, Moses and Elijah appeared in
glory and they spake what they spoke of was His, the Lord Jesus
Christ's, decease or death which He should accomplish at Jerusalem. That was the theme of their conversation. His death which He should accomplish. They are talking about what the
Lord Jesus Christ came to do, would do, on Calvary's tree. Christ and Him crucified. Because in the volume of the
book, this is what is written. This is what it's all about.
The Scriptures must be fulfilled how that Christ suffered and
died for the sins of His people. And Moses perhaps would have
said something like this, O Most High Lord, O Most High Emmanuel and Jehovah,
Emmanuel God with us, Thou hast most surely fulfilled the law
in every jot and tittle. Every jot and tittle of the law
which you gave me on Mount Sinai that day has been most certainly
accomplished by you in your life. You have indeed glorified God
as a man and kept that most holy law. And Elijah said, perhaps, O Most High God, O Most High
and Holy Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All the prophets who
bore witness of Thee, the Christ who was to come, the Lamb slain
before the foundation of the world, You most certainly are
that One. You have fulfilled every type,
symbol, picture, shadow written in the prophets concerning the
Christ who was to come from His birth to His death. Thou art
the Christ. The One who is worthy. And they speak of his death,
which Christ should accomplish. Now, death is not an accomplishment
to you and I. You never can say when someone
dies, well, he did it. He accomplished it. Death is
something that happens to us. It's something appointed unto
us. It's not something we accomplish. In fact, usually it's the end
of everything we have accomplished. Usually it's the total loss.
Whatever we have started, stops. Whatever we have attempted, fails. Whatever we have accumulated,
it's gone. But they said this death, he
accomplished. What does that mean? Well, number
one, Christ's death and His death was an accomplishment in itself. Death. He said, no man taketh
my life from me. Nothing and no one could kill
Him. He could not die of natural causes.
The wages of sin is death. He had no sin. No disease could
touch Him. No natural cause could kill him.
Men can't kill him. They can't. He can't die. Nothing
can kill him. He said, no man taketh my life
from me. But, lay it down. You and I can't do that. We can't
just up and say, think I'll die. No, sir. He did. On Calvary's tree, when he was
hanging on that cross, it says that he said, it is finished
with the Lamb of God. And he said, Father, into Thy
hands I commend my spirit. And it says he baptized it and
gave up the ghost. He accomplished death. He died. Willingly, powerfully, miraculously
accomplished. His own death. His death was
an accomplishment in itself. And what He accomplished in His
death was the redemption of God's people was accomplished. Mission accomplished, truly. The redemption of God's people
was accomplished. Our Lord made an atonement His
glory is at stake. This is all about His glory.
Our Lord satisfied justice. Now listen, why is there no judgment for
God's people? One reason. One reason why God's people will
not face judgment for their sins. Christ died. He paid for their sins. He paid
the penalty for their sins. How could one man do that for
so many? It's because of who He is. That's how. By His death, His blood was shed
for the remission of many. More than we can number. And
by His death, He condemned sin in the flesh. Put it away. Put it away. Completely. The Lord laid on Him the iniquity
of us all. Our Lord was the scapegoat. Right
on Calvary's tree, our Lord had become the scapegoat. God can't forsake a sheep. He
made Him to be sin. He made Him a good. And put on Him sin. Made Him
to be sin. He's not only the sacrifice,
but He's the fit man. who took that sin and separated
it from us as far as the east is from the west, took it out
into the wilderness, behind God's back, wherever that is, where
it can never be seen, where God cannot remember it anymore, and
the iniquity may be sought, but it won't be found. Because Christ
accomplished that on Calvary's trail. That's what He accomplished. What did Christ accomplish with
His death? The death of death was accomplished. Christ died. Scripture says Christ
died. It says He died. But now, Brother
Stan, you've got to write. Stan, Stan, Stan. Now, Brother
Stan, he says about us, He that liveth and believeth in me shall
never die. I don't even taste the death.
It won't even taste of death. You walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, but it won't come nigh you. It won't taste
of death. It's not death. He gave up His
beloved to sleep. It's not death. Why? Because on Calvary's tree, it
was the death of death. He put sin to death and He put
death to death by His death. How do we know? He walked out
of the grave. See? There's nothing to fear. When you walk in there, you'll
walk right on into glory and the presence of the Lord. It's
not death at all. It's the very beginning. So Moses
and Elijah came once again to talk once again about which they
gloried in. of that which all the Scripture
speaks of, of Christ's sovereign, victorious, finished work of
redemption on Calvary's tree. Now look at verse 31. You'll
like this. And I'll hurry. It says, "...they
appeared in glory." They were glorious. These men were glorious
in their appearance. Their arraignment was glorious.
Their countenances were glorious. Do you remember Moses when he
went up on the mountain long before he came back from being
in the presence of who? Same one. The burning bush. The Lord Jesus Christ. The bush
that burned was not consumed. In his faith, it says, he came
down, his countenance shone. He had to put a veil over His
face so people couldn't even look at Him. Well, He was glorious
then and He's glorious now as He appears to the disciples to
talk with the Lord, and so was Elijah. They were glorious in
their raiment and their countenance. How were they glorious? Where
did they get all this? Psalm 45 says, The King's daughter
is all glorious. Her clothing is of wrought gold. She's brought under the king's
arraignment of needlework. This is the robe that they're
wearing is the one that Christ made. The righteousness of saints
is that which Christ made for them. And they're like Him. Scripture says when we see Him,
we will be like Him, only not as glorious. He's the fairest
of 10,000, the bright and morning star. His countenance is as the
sun that shines in all its strength. We're like the moon. The moon
doesn't even shine. The moon reflects glory. And
the scripture says we'll be like him, but we're not going to worship
one another. He far exceeds our glory. One time, John over in Revelation,
twice, John over in Revelation fell at the feet of an angel. The angel that was sent by the
Lord to show him the revelation of Jesus Christ. John, Stephen,
fell at his feet because he was just a glorious John was in the
flesh and blood. And he fell at the feet of this
glorious being. And both times the angel said,
don't do this. See thou do it not, get up. He
said, I am of your fellow brethren and the prophets and those that
bear witness of Him. He said, worship Him. Worship
Me. How did they know it was Moses
and Elijah? People ask this question all the time, and it's really
a mute point, isn't it, if you know the Scripture. Shall we
know each other? Absolutely. They've never seen
Moses and Elijah before. How did they know it was them? There are no pictures of Moses,
Elijah. No picture of Christ. How did
they know it was him? The Revelation. God. Scripture
says, we shall know as we've been known. We'll know each other. But Steve,
as soon as we walk in glory, we're going to know. There's
Moses. There's Elijah. There's Jacob. There's Joseph. Well, there's Rahab. Well, there's
Ruth. There's Lydia. Well, there's
Virgie. There's Ellen. There's Linda.
There they are. We'll know them all. They'll
know us. Well, good to see you, Steve. And you'll say to Stephen,
hello Stephen, the martyr. We'll know each other. Scripture
says that. We'll know even as we've been known. They knew it
was Moses and Elijah. But like old, a way in Hale Road. I know I'll see Moses and Elijah.
Or Daniel and Samson, I'll see. But that's not who I'm looking
for. We'll be glad to see them, won't we? That's the lesson that these
disciples learned here. Sit down and look at this. This
is sad. This is us. Verse 32. It's us right now. As the Lord was showing them
His glory, and Moses and Elijah came all the way from glory to
speak of His glory, they were heavy with sleep. It says, You notice that's the first
time I've noticed that. But Peter, he's the only one
the Lord named. Poor Peter. I'm so thankful the
Lord raised up Peter and put him down. Aren't you? Oh, I'm
so thankful for Peter. Peter. Peter, Peter, Peter, Simon, Peter,
Simon Bar-Jonah. But Peter, and they that were
with him, James and John, were heavy with sleep." Heavy with
sleep. You know, the Scripture says, Lord, lighten our eyes, lest
we sleep the sleep of death. The Scripture says, Brethren,
let us not sleep as do others. Many are asleep in this enchanted
ground while the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be seen. And He tells us to watch unto
prayer. Watch unto prayer. Watch unto prayer. Over and over
again. You'll see His glory. If we want
a blessing from the preaching, we can't expect to get one unless
we ask for one. If we want to see Christ's glory,
We can't expect to see it unless we've asked for it. Quite often
the Lord overrules. But count on it. We have not
because we ask not. But thank God it says they were
all sleeping. Like those ten virgins, all of
them fell asleep. And so have we. So do we. even
in the face of His glory. Well, verse 32 says, though,
that when they were awake, or when the Lord awoke them, when
the Spirit of God awoke them, they saw His glory. And these
two men with them. When the Lord awakened them,
they saw His glory. If the Lord will awaken us by
His Spirit, and that's what the old writers used to call an awakened
sinner. What they all used to say. An
awakened sinner. The Lord has awakened that sinner
to see His glory. To see the Lord Jesus Christ. Who He is. What He's done. Where
He is now. Verse 33. And they saw these men. And it
came to pass as Moses and Elijah departed from the Lord, Peter. Peter said unto the Lord Jesus,
Master, He's not calling him teacher here, he's calling him
my owner. Master? Now Peter's, he's excited
here. Peter is beside himself here.
The Scripture says he doesn't know what he's saying, but he's
got to say something. Master, it's so good for us to
be here. I'm so glad to be here. Master,
it's good for us to be here. Let's make three tabernacles.
Let's make three monuments. Let's raise some monument here. So we'll never forget this. One
for you, one for Moses, one for Elijah, not knowing what he said.
And Mark's account says, Mark's account
says, he wist not what to say. In other words, he didn't know
what to say. You know, if we don't know what
to say, here's a lesson. If we don't know what to say, better
not say anything. But he did anyway, didn't he? Gotta say something. He was excited.
And that's alright. Bless his heart, Peter. Don't
come down on Peter at all. He's excited. He's beside himself.
He's gotta say something. Let's build three monuments.
One to the Lord Jesus, one to Moses, one to Elijah, thinking
he's doing some great thing, not knowing what he's saying.
Ignorant. How ignorant can you be? We're
going to build three equal monuments. Yes, these are three great men,
but one of them is greater than great. As we said, this one, the other
two came to see Him, talk to Him, witness of Him. You know, right now, I thought
about this. Right now, all of us would be, if we saw Moses,
we'd be thrilled like Peter. We would be thrilled. We'd want
to build something again. But when this is over, they're
going to see Christ alone. Look at it in verse 34. While
He was speaking, while Peter was opening his big mouth, While
Peter was talking, a cloud began to hover over them and it began
to totally engulf them. That sounds like the Holy of
Holiness. Where the ark was. The cloud. Where His glory was. Shekinah
glory. A cloud overshadowed them. And it says, and they feared
over Matthew's gospel. They were sore afraid. Trembling. Peter shut up as they entered into this cloud.
And there came a voice out of the cloud saying, This is my
beloved son. What God said right there is
the whole counsel of God. You know that? God just summed up the Bible
in two words. In fact, however many words. This is my beloved Son. Seven words. Seven perfect words. Here it is. The counsel of perfection. All the counsel of God is in
it. All the Scriptures. All the Law. All the Prophets.
All treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Everything. The secrets of God. It's all right here. This. This
One. Who came is My Beloved. The altogether lovely Son The
only begotten Son of the Most High God. Here. The only one
God speaks through. The only one you speak to, and
He speaks to God for you. Here. The only one God will hear. The only mediator between God
and men, the Man Christ Jesus. Here. Him. Not her. Him. Not Moses. Him. Not Elijah. Him. To Him give
all the prophets witness. Him. This book is a Him book. Him. Unto Him. It's all about
Him. Because in Him dwelleth all the
fullness of the Godhead body. In Him are all the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge. To Him give all the prophets
witness. That all the saints, Scripture says, God says, let
all the saints, let the angels and the heavenly hosts worship
the Son. Not men, not angels, not the
elements. Worship Jesus Christ. Oh, now
we see. Everything else would be an idol,
wouldn't it? Moses is not to be worshipped. Elijah is not
to be worshipped. Angels are not to be worshipped.
Men are not to be worshipped. Men are just men. That's all
they are, men. But now this man is equal with
God. Let all worship Him. They found
out. And when the voice was gone,
and Moses and Elijah was gone, the cloud was lifted, They saw
no one but the Lord Jesus only. In verse 36, when the voice was
passed, Jesus was found alone. Matthew said, they saw no man
but the Lord Jesus only. And they kept it close. Like
a closely guarded secret. You know, if they had come down
and tried to tell anybody, they wouldn't have believed it anyway.
They couldn't have told it. When Paul said, I heard things
unlawful to utter, he said, I can't tell you what I heard. Well,
what about what they saw? They tried. John, later, didn't
he? Wrote a book and said, He didn't know how to describe
it. That which we've seen, which we've heard, handled, touched,
looked upon. Life. Light. Life. We beheld His glory. Peter said,
we were with Him on the mountain. We were eyewitnesses of His majesty. We heard a voice. And this is
no fable, he said. No fable. We were there. But
they now saw that mystery kept hid from the foundation of the
world. They now know who this is. This is none other than the King,
of whom all the Scriptures come. The King has come. He said, pray, thy kingdom come. And it's not a place, it's a
person. It's a person. That's how He's
doing it. Let's stand with Him. Our Lord, thank You for
Your Word. We thank You again. We would
not know Thee except through Your Word. And we still preach
in part and know in part. But oh, when that which is perfect
has come, will know as we have been known, and we look forward
to that day, the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And yet, we
have been honored. Thou hast honored us and, yes,
glorified us, whom You did foreknow and predestinate and call and
justify, You have glorified by showing us Thy glory. This is
glory. As the song says, that will be
glory for me to gaze upon Him. Lord, as long as we live here,
we ask that You would continue to show us Your glory more and
more. See Thee as Thou art, so that
we might see everything as it truly is, and not look upon the
things that are seen, but Him who is not seen whom we love
and look forward to seeing someday. And Lord, let us pray to that
end. Let's pray to that end. And Lord, show Yourself, we ask,
we pray. We pray that You might be others
that You have chosen to show Your glory to. Our children,
our friends, our neighbors, this community, Lord, call out more
people, we pray, for Your glory, to show them Thy glory. It's
in Your name and for Your glory we've met tonight. Amen. You're
dismissed. That was a great question. That turned out great.
