So that's a very good hymn. There are two things I hope this message
will accomplish in us. Worship. Worship is thanksgiving and praise, and watchfulness. worship and
watchfulness. Scripture says, take heed unto
yourself. And we read that, let him that
thinketh he standeth, take heed. And we're going to find things
to be thankful for and things to really beware of here in this
chapter. This is vital. I hope everyone,
young and old, will listen very carefully. Give me your undivided
attention. very, very, very, very serious,
young and old. Do not miss this. All right,
our Lord, or, well, this is our Lord's Word, but through the
Apostle Paul, he says, verse 1, don't be ignorant. Brethren,
I don't want you to be ignorant, is what he's saying. I don't want you to be without
understanding, my son. I don't want you to be asleep,
Paul said, as others. Now, we need understanding. We need wisdom from above, don't
we? We need to know how does wisdom
come? How do we get understanding?
How are we kept from being ignorant? Ignorant means not knowing, not
understanding. Well, by the Spirit of God. Number one, that's how we get
wisdom. It comes from above. Spirit of God. Any man that lacks
wisdom, James said, ask. It comes from God. Wisdom. Saving wisdom. Number
two, it comes from the Word of God. It comes from a careful
hearing of, study of, hearing the Word. The Holy Spirit taking
the Word and and opening your understanding, and you're not
ignorant anymore. Okay? It comes also from a wearing,
a watchfulness, being watchful of things. Self. History. Studying of history. I've told
you that saying that he who does not study history will repeat
it. You see, Paul here is dealing
with the history of the Israelites. And then he said, Now these things
are written for our learning, that we might study what they
did or did not do and learn from it, he said. And so he says,
Don't be ignorant. Don't be ignorant. And he uses
the Israelites of old As an example, all the way through here, he
said, no, don't be ignorant now that all our fathers, verse one,
all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through
the sea. All of them were under the cloud
and passed through the sea. Let's go back where that's told
of Exodus 13. Exodus chapter 13 is a story
of this cloud and the Red Sea passing through the Red Sea. I'm not very careful. We could
sure dwell right here in the midst of the sea. What a glorious
picture this is. This cloud and this fiery pillar
and the sea party. Exodus 13 is the story, true
story, verses 20 and 21. And it took their journey, talking
about God's people, took their journey. from Succoth at Campden-Etham
in the edge of the wilderness. They're walking through the wilderness.
The Lord went before them by day and a pillar of the cloud.
Lead them." The what? The Lord. By night and a pillar
of fire. Give them light to go by day
and night. They had light day or by night. They were led by the Lord himself,
day or night. Cloud? It's a cloud, literally
a cloud. cloudy pillar went before them
to lead them to where they were going. They didn't know, but
they just kept their eyes on this cloud. Moses pointed to
the cloud. They were going to get there.
And then by night, it's fire. So that's what this is. Chapter
14. Turn over one page. Verses 19 through 22 says, The
angel of God went before camp of Israel. You know this is all
speaking of Christ, don't you? Huh? The angel of God went before
the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them. He was in front of them and back
of them. How could he be in both places at one time? See why? Behind and before. And a pillar
of cloud went before their face and stood behind them. Verses
20 and 21 are good. It stood between the camp of
the Egyptians and the camp of the Israelites. It was a dividing
line between the Egyptians and God's
people. It was cloud and darkness to
them. The Egyptians were in darkness. They couldn't see. But now it
was light by night to the Israelites. So the one came not near the
other. There was a separation there. And over in chapter 11,
I believe it is, the Lord said, I've made a difference between
you and the Egyptians. And verse 21, Moses stretched
out his hand over the sea. They came to an impasse, the
sea, the Red Sea. And you know the story. Moses stretched out his hand
over the sea, the rod, and the Lord caused the sea to go back
by a strong east wind. All that night made the sea dry
land. The waters were divided. The
children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the
dry ground. The waters were a wall under
them on their right hand and their left. They walked over
on dry ground, not one fleck of mud on their feet. And you know the rest of the
story. They made it over, and the Egyptians came pursuing them,
and God consumed them with this sea. What is all this? Go back to 1 Corinthians 10.
Paul is writing here and says, they were all baptized, don't
be ignorant, now that all our fathers were under the cloud
and all passed through the sea. Verse 2, they were all baptized
under Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all of them, all,
A-double-L, all of them. Saw this cloud and all went through
the sea. Every person in this room has beheld this cloud and is
walking through this sea. There's not one new face in here
who has never heard the gospel. There's not one person in here
who has not been a recipient of the mercy of God Almighty. That's this cloud leading, protecting God did everything for the Israelites,
everything, everything. And this sea represents the world
that we walk through. The sea represents the world,
and we're all going through it, all passing through the sea. But God's people pass through
on dry land. No mud accumulated to bog them
down. The wall, it was a wall. There
was a separation, a dividing line. They passed through it.
They didn't stop and stay in it and be consumed by it like
the Egyptians were. You know the story. The Egyptians
came in to the sea too, but they got mud on their chair. Where
did the mud come from? The Israelites went through with
no mud on their feet. The Egyptians came in and it says their wheels
bogged down in the mud. That's the world. And unbelievers
are walking through this world and getting bogged down by it
and eventually going to be consumed with it, he said. Not God's picture. No, it's going to be dry land.
They're going to pass through it and not be consumed by it. Verse 2 says
they were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and the sea. That
is, God sent this man Moses. God sent him. He was just a shepherd. He was just a shepherd. He wasn't
anybody special. Forty years old, and God began
to reveal to him, and he was just a shepherd. Not a man of
great words. He himself said, I can't speak.
I don't want this job. But the Lord sent him. And those people followed him.
And if he's God's servant, he's going to say, He's going to point
the rod toward the cloud. He's just going to lead the people
in the direction of the angel of the Lord. That's a preacher
of the gospel. You know this. But you know the
principal thing that a shepherd, an under-shepherd, a leader does
for the people? Feeds them. Yeah, he leads them,
but just wants them to cry. He just leads them to cry. And
he's insufficient for it, but he feeds them. Look at verse
3. They did all eat the same spiritual meat. What was that? What was it that they ate, that
spiritual meat that came down? It was bread from heaven. Remember? And they walked through
the wilderness, and they got hungry, and they said, We're
going to starve to death. Oh, no. No. bread from heaven, this white,
sweet substance from God himself. And they all said, what is it?
They'd never seen it, never tasted it before that day. And they
called it manna. That means, what is it? A mystery. What's that? Well, what is it? What is manna? That's the gospel.
It's a gospel. The Egyptians didn't eat that
damn thing. They didn't get a touch of it. But the oil of the Israelites
could have all they wanted. All they wanted. They ate manna.
Read on. Verse 3. And do you see how that,
you read with me how that he said, now these things are for
type. That's exactly what Paul said. All this happened. It actually
happened. But the reason it happened, And
the reason everything in the Old Testament is written and
took place was to fulfill. There were shadows and types
of the real, you see. The law, everything. Now, isn't
that a revelation? Genetic. Everything. That just
jumped out at me when Paul said that. These things are a type.
But it really happened. But it was for a type. picture
to show us. Now, what is the manna, the bread
that comes down from heaven to God's people now? God's people
are passing through the wilderness of this world. God's people are
being led by a cloud. Darkness to the world, but light
and leadership to them. And then they get this bread
that comes down from heaven and it's What is it? It's a mystery. It's glorious. It's just something
wonderful. It comes from God himself, and
it's sweet to their taste, and they can—it's just there for
the taking, all that. What is that man? Christ. He said, I am the bread of life,
which come down from heaven. He said, Moses gave you that
bread, but I am the bread which came down from heaven. I'm the
bread. So they all ate the same spiritual
meat, verse 4, and they all did drink the same spiritual drink. They drank of that spiritual. It keeps saying spiritual. Even
then, you see, even then, they were to do those things
looking to Christ. That's important. The Old Testament
believers were saved the same way we are. Those things were
real to them, but they were still types. And they walked and walked
and walked, and Moses and Aaron taught them. Everything's not
written in scriptures that took place in the sand. And they taught
the people. They heard good gospel. They
sure did. What's this brim? God's going
to come down Himself. What is this water? There's this
water in verse 4. I like to go look at that. It
was a rock that followed them. I mean, they were walking through
the wilderness, and this big rock was following them. This cloud. I don't believe that.
I'm not talking to you. This happened. This happened. Those that don't believe it,
this rock's going to roll over them, our Lord said. He said,
the rock's going to fall on them one of these days. And this big rock was falling.
One day they got thirsty. They ate all the bread and they
said, we're thirsting. And the Lord said, Moses, take
your rod and smite the rock. That rock that's been following
you? Hit it. Slide it. Hit hard. And you know
what happened? A river of water came flowing
out of that rock. Boom! Moses hit that rock in
the sight of all the people. They were all watching this.
All the people watched this rock. And Moses smite the rock. And it just flowed. A river of
water. Fresh water. What is that? Verse 4 tells us,
that rock was Christ. That rock, you see, was behind
them, following them, for nobody could get around. An Egyptian
between a rock? Hard place, buddy. The rock was between them and
the people of God. That's what came between the
world and God's people, a rock. Oh, my, the Scriptures are full
of this stone. This stone, my Lord, is laid. It comes between God's people
and the world. You can't get around this rock, which is Christ. And this smiting of the rock—oh,
people, we need two hours this morning. This smiting of the
rock is when Christ was the rock of ages. Christ was hanging on
Calvary's tree one day, and the wrath of God, the wrath of God's
justice, smote his son, and out of his side came rivers of living
water. There is a fountain filled with
blood, drawn from Emmanuel's vein, and sinners plunged beneath
that blood lose all their guilty sin. There is a river that flows
from the person of God. Thirsty? Have you licked your
lips, Barbara? Ah, Christ, the smitten rock,
a rock not only as a refuge, Moses, the Lord hid Moses in
a rock, clipped to the rock. That rock is Christ. A place
of safety, a rock to stand on while the world is shifting sands.
You can stand on Christ, the rock of ages, and not be moved
with all these tides and so forth. Though the waves roar and crash
you, you're standing on a rock. Whatever happens, you're standing on a rock. And Christ, that smitten
rock, who was smitten by God on behalf of his people, and
his blood flowed that we receive by faith and meets our needs. Well, they all drank that spiritual
rock that followed them, and that rock was Christ. Oh, my. That rock was with them
everywhere. With them everywhere. Christ
said, Lo, I'm with you always. Behind and before. Now, this
is the next verse. This is Sam. And this just doesn't apply to
the Israelites. This applies to the Rocky Mountites. This will apply to me if I don't
heed it. This man standing in front of
you will fall if this verse applies to me,
these verses. Verse 5, But with many of them
God was not well pleased. They were overthrown in the wilderness. God was not well pleased with
them. They were not accepted. They were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now, we've already talked about the wilderness being the world.
John talks about this, how we overcome the world and not be
overcome by it. These were. They were overcome
by it. They were overthrown in the wilderness. troubles and
trials came, and it revealed they were not God's people. Only two over twenty entered
the Promised Land out of millions. Now, he says this is for us. Now, here's the reasons. Verse
6, he's going to give us reasons why they were overcome, all right? Oh, Lord, please teach me. These things, for example, to
the intent, verse 6, that we should not lust after evil things
as they also lusted. Now, he says these things are
for us, to the intent, to the purpose that we not lust after.
That means be overly taken up with and desire and pursue after
evil things as they were. Now, there's no evil in things.
Let me show you that. There's nothing
evil in itself. Romans 14. All right, let's look
at it just a few pages back. I'll take my word for it. And
these are verses you've heard so many times. And you need to
know where they are. Because people are going to come
and say, there's evil in that. Now, isn't this evil in that?
No, it's not. You remember, Jenny, when our
Lord said, Don't don't be deceived by these Pharisees. Nothing goes
in your mouth. That's not that's not that's
not the problem. It can be a problem. Look at
Romans 14, verse 14, Paul says, I know and am persuaded by the
Lord Jesus that there is nothing. Unclean of itself. You see that? That thing. Verse 17, the kingdom
of God is not meat and drink. It's not things. It's not the
doing of things, the taking of things, or the not doing, or
the not taking of things. It's not, it's spiritual. It's, this thing is spiritual. Go back to the text. So he's,
he's not telling us that there's evil in things. It says such and this thing made
this person to follow. No. That person willingly partook
of that thing to excess and made them, they themselves are responsible
for what they are. Right? It's not a thing. Not
what God created, all things. Is that right? That's just, that's
just something. And then that's a vital point, because so many
people think, because I don't do such and such a thing, I therefore,
because I abstain, I therefore, no. We talked to, I was talking to
one of the men, John came, he didn't eat, he didn't eat what
the people ate, he didn't drink wine or any strong drink, no
alcohol whatsoever, nothing. John. Remember, Samuel didn't. All right? What'd they say about
John? They said, he's got a devil. He's the most holy living man
ever to walk this planet, darn hell. Total abstinence. They said, he's got a devil.
Well, our Lord Jesus Christ, now holiness personified walks
the planet. What's he do? He eats everything
and drinks wine with the people. And they said, well, he's a winebibber. The wisdom is justified. That's
what he meant when he said wisdom is justified for children. They
understand. There's no evil in things. And
our Lord said, watch this. The evil comes from here. It's
in everyone. The propensity to be an alcoholic
is in everybody in here, to be a drug addict, to be a harlot,
is in us. Oh, no, no, not me. Being a self-righteous
Pharisee, the propensity is there to be that, and that's worse. It is. It's worse. It is. The world doesn't believe
that, but it is. You know, our Lord said that.
He said, The publicans and harlots will enter the kingdom of heaven
before you, abstainers and good and moral righteous people. So there's no evil in the thing.
Our Lord's not saying that, but now here's the problem. They
lusted after them. They lusted after these things.
Insatiable lust is not just sexual lust. That's many things. Lust
after food, clothes, cars, houses, entertainment. That means an
insatiable craving. Give me again. Lust means just,
ah, give me, give me, give me more, more. I've got to satisfy
this craving. That's what lust means. After
evil things, and things become evil when you lust after them.
That's why they're called evil things. Verse 7 says, "'Neither be ye
idolaters.'" And you remember when it's written covetousness
is idolatry. Covetousness. That means not
being satisfied with what you have and never being satisfied
until you get more of what you're looking for. That's covetousness.
He said, that's idolatry. An idol is that thing which you
worship and got ahead and spend all your time thinking about.
Idolatry, verse 7, need to be idolatrous as some of them were,
as it is written. And here's proof of their idolatry.
This is what they were consumed with. This is all they thought
about and all they did. The people sat down to eat and
drink and rose up to play. What did the people do? What
was on their mind? What were they consumed with?
Eating and drinking and playing. Now there's nothing wrong with
eating and drinking, is there? Huh? Certainly not. What about
playing? Why, no. You allow your children to eat
and drink. You want them to eat and drink. What about playing? Do you allow
your children recreation? Why, certainly. Does God? Why, certainly. But the fact
here is, what this is saying is, that's all they thought about. I like to eat. I like to drink. I like to recreate. I like to enjoy myself. Anybody here not? Don't be ridiculous. No human being on the planet
doesn't enjoy those things. There's no evil in those things,
but if that's all that's on my mind, then I've got problems, eternal
problems. The problem with God, God is
not pleased. He pleased, yes, he said, enjoy,
enjoy, enjoy, doesn't it? Pleased, yes, he is. Read it,
enjoy, enjoy. But give thanks to the one that
gave it. Stop and give thanks. Pray without cease. Thank you,
Lord. Enjoy it. God gives us richly all things
to enjoy. Not begrudgingly, but cheerfully.
Here, enjoy that. Thank you. Lord, Lord gave it. Lord, take it away. I've got
it, I've got it, I've got it. No, it's left. That's covetousness. I've got to have more. No, that's
idolatry. Verse 8, "...neither let us commit
fornication, as some of them committed, failing one day three
in twenty thousand." Twenty-three thousand fornications. This literally happened, and
I wish we had time, but we don't. To go back there to this, Numbers
11 talks about it, and it literally happened. The people, what it's
talking about, was the people went into the world wives of
the world while they were in the wilderness, married and intermarried. And those people, those women
and so forth, led the people into idolatry. And they began
to worship their gods. They began to worship these people's
gods and do the things these people did and liked to think. And they forgot God. because
of the evil communications, they had joined themselves to these
Baal worshipers. Now do you get the picture? Light
was beginning to have fellowship with darkness, and rather than
darkness being influenced by the light, light was influenced
by the darkness. Rather than the worshipers of
God having influence on the Baal worshipers, it was vice versa.
Now do you see what fornication is? and said this so many times,
that this world, to a believer, the world, there's nothing we have that
appeals to the world. Nothing. They don't want our
religion. They don't want God's Word. They
don't want you to bring it up. They don't like our ways. They
don't like it. There's nothing that appeals
to this world. Old friends and all that don't
want these new things. But now, remember that old man
we talked about? That's still in there with us,
that dead fellow we carry around? Flesh, there's much in the world
that appeals to him. So who's going to be influenced?
If that's who we rub shoulders with, if that's who we spend
our time with, if that's our companions, they us, not us them. And Paul in another place says,
what do we have in common anyway? I hear of believers going on
vacations with. But that's the way it is, and
these things were written, so that's what this fornication
is, not just sexual. Neither let us tempt Christ,
as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpent."
What is that talking about, tempting Christ? Moses. That's when the sons of Korah
said, You're just a man. That's what they said to Moses.
Who do you think you are? You're just a man. We know as
much as you do, and we're led in the spirit of God as much
as you are. And we're not going to listen
to what you say anymore. You're just like us. We're just
not going to listen to you anymore. We've heard enough from you.
That's what the sons of Korah said. Now, Moses never said he
was anything but a man. But God did. God says, if they
hear you, Moses, they don't hear me. And Moses fell on his face constantly
and said, Lord, I can't do this. People are looking to me. I can't
do anything. People are ready to stone me.
I didn't do this. I didn't want this. I can't do
this. And they, and some of these sons
of course, say, You're just a man, and we've had enough, and what
happened? They were all bitten by serpents.
Some of them were destroyed, many of them. That's what it
meant by tempted Christ, because they heard from Moses, they heard
Christ. Neither murmur, you look at verse 10. Don't murmur. Just murmuring? Don't murmur. Some of them were
murmured and they were destroyed of the destroyer. Murmuring?
What's murmuring? I can't believe it. This is bad
stuff. Can you believe what's happening
to us? Why? Why me? I don't like this bread. I don't like being in this wilderness. We all murmur. And so this is written, you see,
don't be ignorant now, and we all murmur, starting with me.
But he wrote this, this is written for our learning so that we'll
quit murmuring. Because if we keep murmuring,
we'll be destroyed. I told myself I was going to
preach this message with as much pathos and compassion as I can. I'm trying, and this is for me.
Ed Berry, this is for me. That's why I'm bringing this,
because I read this and, Lord, I need this, please. Don't let me lust. Don't let
me murmur. Don't let me be an idolater. Don't let me get bogged down
in the sea. Please deliver me. Let me hear. I've got ears to hear. Let me
hear." Verse 11, now, these things happen
to them for examples. They're written for our admonition.
Do you see that? Paul said, Our. Paul included
himself, didn't he say? Our. Upon whom the ends of the
world are come. Us. It's about over. It's just
about over. The Lord is near, especially
for you old folks. It's about over. What have I
to do anymore with idols? That's what we ought to say. Wherefore, verse 12, let him
that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. You see that? And I've said so many times.
I've seen so many preachers that I esteem so highly. Men that
I thought, men that I heard as a young believer, he preached,
I thought, these men, these are God's men. This is the gospel. What a wonderful preacher. I'd
like to be like them. And then fall horribly. Let anybody that think it be
standing take heed. lest he fall. Fall how? We just
read. We just read it. How this fall
comes about. Now, he says, verse 13, there's
no temptation. This is a great verse. There's
no temptation. No lust, no trouble, no conflict,
no inward struggle. that have taken you, that you're
going through, no trouble that you're going through, nothing
you've done, thought, said, or ever have, will do or say that
some believer hasn't done or said or thought or been through.
Nothing. Common. Such is the common lot
of sinful lots. It's the lot of lot who lives
inside them. to be vexed, to be tempted, to
be tried, to fail. Now, here's salvation. Are you
waiting for this, John? But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted. Above that you're able, but will
with the temptation make a way to escape, that you're able to
bear it? What is that way? God says he'll not suffer you
to be tempted above. I can't take this anymore. You
did. I've heard of believers going
through the most, well, we read. You know, I've heard of believers
go through horrible things in my, right now. But you read the
scripture. Have you read the scriptures?
What some of the believers went through back then? The atrocities, the wickedness,
the things that they did, any of them. Have you read it? Was God faithful to them? He sure was. That's all our hopes, our faithful
God, our faithful Christ. You see, Christ came to this
earth, our faithful God, came to this earth in the likeness
of sinful flesh. God hath made him to be sin for
us, him who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness
of God in him. And therefore there is now no
condemnation to them that are in Christ. God is well pleased
For Christ's sake, as long as you keep looking to Christ, that's
the way of escape. Christ said, I'm the way. Christ is the way of escape.
He's the one you keep looking to. You know how? You know what
this, over in Hebrews, where it says, they sin willfully.
Now, if we sin willfully after we've heard the word of truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sin. You know what that is? The sins that we commit, we sin willfully, people. There's
no one in here, starting with me, that can say, I didn't mean
to do that. Huh? Will you confess with me? I did
that because I wanted to do it. I did that because I mean it. I did that because I'm a vile
man or woman. I did that because I went after
it and that's it. I did it! What is this willful sin? If
any man sin willfully, the whole book of the first several chapters
of Hebrew is dealing with the children of Israel who heard
the gospel. And then after a while, they
said, we don't need that anymore. The manna was a type of that.
The manna, Roy, the manna was a type of that. Over numbers,
the people said, we're tired of this manna. After a while,
God just gave them this glorious, after a while, Roy, they said,
we want something else. That's not enough, which is a picture of the gospel. And there are many signs of being
tired of the gospel, literally. How long has it been since a
gospel movement, dear? I mean, when we first heard the
gospel, it broke our hearts and just thrilled our souls, and
just caused us joy and rejoicing, and couldn't wait till the next
sermon. Those children, I guarantee you,
I bet you, when that manna fell, oh, look at that old old boy,
they were just doing that. I know they were all laying on
the ground. And they went to bed that night and jumped up
for a dog. Where is it? Where is it? Where
is it? Hungry. Here comes more and more. And after a while. Just man, I had that before. Wake up time to get mad. Oh, my brother, my brother's
flea. Flea, verse 14, says flea, idolatry. See, idolatry is what does it.
Enchanted grounds, what does it. The muck and the mire is what
we get stuck in. Like old Charles said, we've
got to have our feet washed. this pure water. I speak as to
wise men. Verse 15, I'm speaking to wise
people. Judge what I say. Are you with
me? Judge what I say. I'm speaking
to people that are wise unto salvation. Now, you listen to
what I say and what God said. The Lord made this man to listen
to his own mouth. The cup of blessing which we
bless. Is it not the communion of the
blood of Christ? The bread we break, is it not
the communion of the body of Christ? Oh, Sobe, you've tasted that
the Lord is gracious. Desire the sincerity of the Lord.
Have we not been fed? That's, you know, sometimes that's
part of the problem. You having trouble sleeping last
night, Sam? Went over to the Andersons And just ate, and ate,
and ate, and ate, and ate some more. You know how
it is. We were all sitting around after
a while, and I said, I've got to go home. All this food, it
just made me sleepy. When I got home, I fell, I passed
out. in the bed. And we've eaten so
much here, and maybe that's the problem. Maybe that's the problem. I don't know. But that's where,
just so we take it for granted. You take good food for granted.
No, you really do. Until you, well, I like that
food. My wife's been gone several days. And I'm like Sam there. I asked
Sam if he could cook. He said, well, I heat up. And
that's where I am now. I eat several different types
of cheese. I use peanut butter many different
ways. I don't cook a full meal. My
wife does that for me. While she's here, I sometimes
take it for granted. Boy, I tell you, whenever Sherry
said, will you come over? Yes. What time? I called you
dinner. What time? You want me? Five,
be there at four. Seriously, this is a picture
of the gospel that says, Lord, don't let us be. And our Lord,
you know, marvelously in Luke 21, we didn't get to it, but
our Lord said, beware lest your heart be overcharged with serpent. That's in the context of those
verses we looked at this morning. He said, Beware that your heart,
right after he said, The Lord's coming, I'm coming again. He
said, Beware that your heart be overcharged with serpentine.
That is everything. What's the hymn, John? I lost
the paper. What's that? 359? God is faithful. Keep looking
to Him. Keep coming to hear, and Lord,
sing that song from the heart. Break thou the bread of life.
Sing this song. My faith looks up today. If,
Lord, you leave me to myself, I'm a goner. This world, this
wilderness will overcome me. But now through Christ, I can
get through it without getting mud on my feet. So, Sam, let's sing verses 1,
2, and 4. Verses 1, 2, and 4. My faith was there with me, proud
and lost I will be. Now hear me when I pray, take
all my sin away, for it be from this day the only light. May Thy rich grace enforce, Strength
through my fainting heart, My zeal inspire, As Thou hast died
for me, O may my love believe, Step on and take the feet that
lead me far. When in Christ's hands is free,
When death's host all is free, Shall all be blest. Blest Savior, then is lost, Fear
and distress removed, Oh, do we thank the Lord for ransom's
gold.
