Chapter 49. Let's begin at the 25th verse
of Isaiah 49. I'm going to use this for just
a starting point. as our subject is the servant
saves God's children. Isaiah chapter 49 verse 25, but
thus saith the Lord, even the captives of the mighty
shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered. The Lord says, for I will contend
with him that contended with thee. And listen to the words
of the servant. He says, I will save thy children. I will save thy children. We
know this is a passage of scripture about our Lord Jesus, God's servant,
the servant of Jehovah. As I said this morning on the
surface, this is about the deliverance
of Israel, really I should say Judah, out of their bondage to
Babylon. But that deliverance was really
a picture of the deliverance of sinners held captive by Satan,
held captive by sin, the deliverance that has been wrought by our
Savior. In fact, I would say that the
historical significance of this, the deliverance of the Jews out
of their Babylonian captivity, it really has no meaning and
it has no significance to us today except that it is a beautiful
picture of this great salvation of God's children by the Lord
Jesus Christ. So I want to go back to the very
beginning of the chapter and let's just take a walk through
this wonderful garden, take a walk through these verses as we look
at God's servant who saves God's children. Notice in the first verse, here
God's servant sets forth his hearers. He says, listen, listen
O Isles unto me. There is a voice to be listened
to and it's the voice of the Lord himself. I made mention
in our Bible class, I believe it was last week, that we got
in trouble and we still get in trouble by listening to the wrong
voices. We need to listen to the voice
of the Lord. The voice of the Lord is His
Word. The Lord speaks. He speaks to the isles, that
is, to the Gentiles. Now these are not the words of
the man Cyrus that God raised up to deliver the Jews or to
free the Jews from their Babylonian captivity and send them back
to Jerusalem. They're not the words of King
Cyrus. They're not the words of Isaiah
the prophet. They're not his words either.
These are the words of God's servant. These are the words
of Christ Jesus. These are the words of the Son
of God and He speaks to the Isles. He speaks to the Gentiles. He
speaks to His elect who are scattered among the nations of the earth.
You see, our Lord in His design of grace, He has ordained that
He have a people of every nation, of every kindred, of every tribe,
and of every tongue. These people are spread throughout
the world. It's an innumerable company of
people. God selected these, He elected
these to salvation in the Lord Jesus, and He gave them to Christ,
God's servant, our surety, our Savior. And the Lord will speak
to these, His people, at some point during our life. He comes
to us with the gospel and He says, listen, listen unto Me. Up until the point that He speaks
to us in effectual, irresistible power, up to that point, we'll
listen to any voice. We'll listen to any religious
voice that comes along. We'll listen to any message that
comes along, whatever religious message that might be. But when
the Lord's servant Himself, that is, when God's Jehovah's servant,
Jesus Christ the Lord, when He speaks to us and He says, listen
unto Me, That's when we listen. That's when we listen. We've
been listening to all the wrong voices and He comes along and
He says, listen unto Me. Ye isles, ye isles, listen unto
Me. He says, look at the next phrase,
He says, hearken ye people from far. You're way off. You're far off from God. That's
our condition by nature. We're far off from God. Once
far off from God and dead in sin. That was our condition.
There was a vast distance between us and a holy God and we had
no interest in that distance being closed up. We had no interest
in being brought nigh unto God. But God had the interest. God
has an eternal interest in the salvation of His people. And
in the Lord Jesus and through His substitutionary sacrifice
on the cross, our God has ordained that a people who are far off
from Him by nature be brought near to Him by the blood of the
cross. It's our sins and our iniquities
that have distanced us from God. God didn't leave us. We left
God. We left God and we went running
from Him and we would, that is those of us in this congregation
who love the gospel, those who are watching by the internet,
who believe the gospel of God's grace, we'd still be running
from God even yet had He not spoken to us in irresistible
grace and said, listen to me, I've got something to say to
you. God Almighty has to get our ear. He has to get our attention.
And He does by His servant who speaks to us and He says, You
hearken unto Me, you who are afar off. And when He speaks
in sovereign power and authority, that's when we listen. That's
when we listen. Here the Lord Christ calls for
men and women far off from God to listen and hearken unto Him. We read in the book of Ephesians,
at that time, You were without Christ. Aliens from the commonwealth
of Israel. You were strangers from the covenants
of promise. Having no hope without God in
this world, but now in Christ Jesus, you who were sometimes
far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ Jesus. Oh people
of God, isn't it absolutely wonderful that those of us who are by nature
rebels against God, He draws His knife to Himself and He even
says to us concerning this matter of approaching Him in prayer,
He says, come boldly to the throne of grace. Those of us who drank
iniquity like water, God says to us, come boldly to the throne
of grace. Come near to Me and you will
be accepted through the blood and the righteousness of the
Lord Jesus Christ. He speaks to us. Oh, what condescending
grace. Oh, what a wonderful, wonderful
message this is to those of us who need this message of good
news, who need to hear about a salvation that's all of grace
and all in Christ Jesus. Oh, God, give me ears to hear
this message. Give me a heart to believe this
message. So here the servant describes
and speaks to his hearers. Secondly, the servant describes
himself. After his words to listen, O
Isles unto me and hearken ye people from far, he begins to
speak about himself. And in these first three verses,
our great Redeemer, God's appointed servant, our Savior, He sets
forth Himself and He declares the authority from Heaven with
which He is invested and which He is coming to the world to
exercise. He's vested with all power and
authority. He says, look first there, he
said, the Lord called me from the womb. The Lord called me,
to what? To the work of Mediator. He called him to the work to
be of the prophet, to be the priest, to be the king. He called
him to the work to be the Savior, to be the Redeemer, to be the
Reconciler. He didn't assume these offices
unto himself. He didn't take this work upon
himself. He says, I was called to this.
I was called to this. And you notice he says, He's
called me from the womb. What does that mean? From the
very womb of eternity. God Almighty called Him to save
His people from their sins. He called Him before time began. God called Him to be His servant
from the womb of eternity. Even from the womb of His eternal
purposes and His everlasting decrees. Christ Jesus was set
forth. He was foreordained in the purpose
of God to be the propitiation of our sins. He was predestinated
to be the Redeemer of those who were enslaved and held captive
by Satan and by the law of God. He was appointed to be the Savior
from the womb of the morning. And then He comes in the time
And he says, from the bowels of my mother, he hath made mention
of my name. An angel appeared to Mary and
spoke to her and said, there's a holy thing in you. You're going to bring forth a
son. She said, how can that be? I've never known a man. He said,
the Holy Ghost is going to overshadow you. You'll call His name Jesus. Before He was ever born, He already
had the name Jesus. That's what the angel told Mary
in Luke 1 and 31. And the angel of God said the
same thing to Joseph in Matthew chapter 1. Thou shalt call His
name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins. He's
made mention of my name from the bowels of my mother. Even
when my mother was carrying me in the womb, God made mention
of my name. God said who I would be. God
said I'd be the Savior. God said I'd be the Deliverer.
God said that I have a people, that I had come to save my people
from their sins. He had this name from his mother's
womb and from the womb of eternity as well. Notice as he describes
himself in the second verse, he's made my mouth like a sharp
sword. God has qualified Him. God has
equipped Him for this work, this man Christ Jesus. The Lord God
furnished His Son, His servant, with everything necessary to
fight the battles that He had to fight and destroy the works
of the devil and save His people from their sins. He made His
mouth a sharp sword. The Word of God is And in Hebrews chapter 4 we read
that His word is sharper than a two-edged sword. It's with
this sharp sword He cuts in pieces the hearts of men and women.
It's with this sharp sword that He cuts down all of His enemies.
Because this sword cuts both ways. He's made my mouth like
a sharp sword. His mouth, that's His words.
That's his word. That's his gospel. This gospel is sharp. And we
must, when we set forth this gospel, when we draw out the
sword of the Word of God, we must just deliver it exactly
like it is. Don't try to blunt it, don't
try to dull it, don't try to co-opt it down, or to water it
down, I should say. Just the Word will do its work. Just pull out the sharp sword
and let it go. It will cut. It will do God's
work. God said, my word will not return
in me void. He says, He's made my mouth like
a sharp sword. In the shadow of His hand, He
has hid me. He's hid me in the shadow of
His hand. He's hid me in His counsels and
in His decrees. God hid Him in the Old Testament
in types and prophecies and pictures. God hit him when he was in danger? When King Herod said, I'm gonna
kill all the male babies, I'll get rid of this Messiah, God
hit him? When His enemies would take Him
before the time came that God ordained that He would lay down
His life a ransom for us, God hid Him. He was hidden from men. In Luke chapter 4, when He preached
there in Capernaum, He preached sovereign grace, distinguishing
grace, effectual grace, and the crowd rose up against Him. They
were ready to throw Him off the temple, and He, passing through
their midst, went their way. What happened? God hid Him. because
he's not going to die until the time comes that God has ordained
for him to die. And then watch it, he says this,
he's made me a polished shaft. He's made me a polished shaft. Listen, the great weapon, the
great weapon, that goes forth to kill the enemies and even
to slay our hearts is the Lord Jesus Himself. He is the weapon. You've got to get that. He is
the weapon. He's made me, He's made me, He
says, a polished shaft. He's the shaft that goes and
hits the target. You know, when I preach, I'm
preaching like a shotgun blast. I'm just, it's just going everywhere.
I don't know where, I don't know what's gonna hit who. But our
Lord, He's the polished shaft. And you just, in your heart,
don't you say, Lord, just hit my heart with a polished shaft.
Oh Lord, oh Lord, do you work in my heart. When we're talking
about salvation, we don't want to talk about generalities. It's just personal. I want God
to deal with me in His saving grace. Oh, send this polished
shaft right to me. It's a polished shaft. It has
no imperfection. It's shiny, it's glorious, it's
beautiful, it's magnificent. Christ is in all of His characteristics,
in all of His attributes, in all of His perfections, in all
of His offices, in all of His names. He's the polished shaft
and God sends Him forth to the target. Oh God, hit my heart.
Hit my heart. Use my heart for the target.
Send the polished shaft to me. He said, in His quiver He hath
hid me. He's hid me in the quiver, the
quiver of His eternal counsels. And He said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel. Thou art my servant, O Israel. He said to him, Thou art my beloved son in whom
I am well pleased. God said, this is my beloved
son. Peter, James, and John on the
Mount of Transfiguration. They saw Moses and Elijah talking
with the Savior about his decease that he would accomplish in Jerusalem,
about his death that he would accomplish, the redemption he
would accomplish. Simon Peter says, just build
three tabernacles here so all three of you can stay. And all
of a sudden, a cloud comes over this situation, over this scene. And then when things kind of
clear out, Moses and Elijah are gone. And they saw Jesus only. Jesus only. And God said, this
is my beloved son in whom I'm well pleased. This one is. He said, Thou art my servant.
Oh Israel, oh Israel, what amazing condescension here that He who
is the King of Israel takes the name of His own people. We're
God's Israel, but He takes our name. Just as He's given us His
name which is the Lord, our righteousness. Over in the book of Jeremiah
you read, this is the name by which He shall be called, the
Lord our Righteousness, Jehovah Sidcanu. And then later on you
read, this is the name by which She shall be called, the Lord
our Righteousness. We have the same name in here.
We are His Israel. We are the Chosen of God. We
are the Israel of God. Galatians chapter 6 says that. And yet our Savior, He condescends
to take the same name as ours. God says, Thou art my servant,
O Israel. O Israel. You remember when Jacob
wrestled with the Lord? God said, Your name is now Israel. You prevailed. You are a prince. You prevailed. Oh, that man,
that man who wrestled with the Lord, that man was nothing compared
to the God-man who has prevailed over all of our enemies. He well
deserves the name of Israel for He has conquered every enemy
of His people. He has and He continues to prevail. He is the Prince. He has been
exalted to be the Prince, to be the King, to be the sovereign
ruler over all. And you will notice the last
statement of verse 3. In whom I will be glorified,
God said. God said, I'll be glorified in
this servant. I'll be glorified in the work
that he does. I'll be glorified in his person.
I'll be glorified in his life. But God will receive the greatest
glory in his death. in His substitutionary atoning
work. When He poured out His blood
unto death, when He laid down His life for the sheep, God was
glorified for salvation was signed, sealed and delivered by the death
of the Lord Jesus Christ. And He arose again because justification
had taken place. He was raised again because of
our justification. But then look thirdly at the
servant of God and his rejection. Then I said I have labored in
vain. I've spent my strength for naught
and in vain. Yet surely my judgment or the
deciding of the case That's a good thing to write in your margin,
that word judgment. The deciding of the case is with
the Lord and my work with my God. Now, what is the Savior
saying here when he says, I have labored in vain? Well, we know
this. He didn't die in vain. He didn't
die in vain. Let me show you a reference here. Look over in Isaiah chapter 65. Isaiah chapter 65 and verse 23. This is speaking of the Lord's
people. Those who deliver the Word of
God. Isaiah chapter 65 and verse 23. They shall not labor in vain,
nor bring forth for trouble. For they are the seed of the
blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. In other
words, our labor in the Lord is not in vain. It's not in vain. That which we do for God in the
spreading of the truth, in the preaching of the gospel, it is
not in vain. It doesn't come to nothing. The
word vain means nothing. It's airy. There's nothing to
it. But that which we do for God
in worshiping the Lord and in preaching the gospel, there's
a lot to it. There's a lot to it. We don't
do this in vain. We don't meet in vain tonight.
We're worshiping God. We're honoring His name. And
may I say this? I've heard people pray this way
or people talk this way. Oh, the most important thing
tonight is that somebody would be saved. And don't misunderstand
that. That is vital. That's not the
most important thing, is it? Unless I've missed something,
that's not the most important thing. The most important thing
is His glory. Isn't that the most important
thing? Whatever He does with me, He
may save me or He may damn me, but the most important thing
is His glory. He's got to get the glory. We
don't labor in vain. We're not conducting this service
in vain. We're magnifying God. We are
praising the name of Jesus Christ. And listen, others may not be
happy. Well, you may not be happy. But that does not make you too
different. This is pleasing to God. We are glorifying His name.
That is what we are all about. We do not labor in vain. I do
not like what they do over there at 13th Street Baptist Church.
Well, that is too bad. We are just going to keep doing
it because our goal is to glorify God. So God's people don't labor
in vain, and I'll tell you this, God's Word doesn't go forth in
vain. In Isaiah 55, look at Isaiah
55. Look at Isaiah 55 in verse number
10. Isaiah 55, 10, for as the rain
cometh down from heaven, cometh down in the snow from heaven,
and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh
it bring forth in bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and
bread to the eater. So shall my word be that goeth
forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void.
This is not a vain thing, the preaching of the gospel, the
deliverance of the word of God, God's own word. It shall accomplish
that which I please, and it shall prosper wherever I send it. Wherever
God sends His Word, it will prosper. It will do the work He meant
for it to do. His work shall not fail. His written Word shall not fail. And you go back over here to
our text now. What does this mean then when
Christ says, I've labored in vain? What does that mean? Well, I know this, the Savior
can't fail. Let's go over to Isaiah chapter
42. Isaiah chapter 42. His laborers
don't fail. We don't labor in vain. His word
doesn't go forth in vain. And He can't fail. He didn't
labor on the cross. He didn't die in vain. Isaiah
42 verse 4. He shall not fail nor be discouraged
till He has set judgment in the earth and the isles shall wait
for His law. So his death wasn't in vain. So we go back over here. What does this mean then in verse
4 when he says, I've labored in vain? Well, I think we should
take it this way. As he preached and as he did
his miracles, as he set forth the very truth of God, he was
rejected. His labors, as far as the Jews
were concerned, the word which was sent out to them, That labor
was fanat. It was fanat. They didn't receive
it. They didn't believe Him. Just like folks don't believe
us. Isaiah will say, go over to Isaiah
chapter 53 and verse 1. He will even say this, Who hath
believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the
Lord revealed? And our Savior labored, performing
miracles. He said, they said, you tell
us who you are and we'll believe you. He said, I've told you.
I've told you. But you didn't believe me. So
in that sense, His labor, His work on this earth was in vain.
Not His blood, not His righteousness established. I've spent my strength
and all and in vain. But watch this, yet surely my
judgments with the Lord. The Lord will decide the case.
My works with God. And watch that the certainty
of His work. Look at verse 5. And now saith the Lord that formed
me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob again to Him. Though Israel as a nation be
not gathered, yet I shall be glorious in the eyes of the Lord.
and my God shall be my strength." He said, it is a light thing
that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to restore the preserved of Israel. And I said this morning,
light thing means it's not enough that you just sent to the Jewish
people. I'm going to give thee for light to the Gentiles as
well that thou mayest be my salvation to the ends of the earth. Oh,
He is the successful Savior. He is the successful Savior.
And while there are some that don't believe Him, those to whom
the Word of God is sent irresistibly and effectually, they will believe
Him. You may not love this gospel,
and your neighbor may not love this gospel. They may reject
this gospel and say, I don't want to have anything to do with
that preaching that you all have up there of sovereign grace.
I don't want to hear anything about it. You may not want to
hear about it, but there's somebody God's going to cause to want
to hear about it. He's going to send forth His Word. And there
are some people in this world, when they hear this gospel, they're
going to say, I want to hear some more of that. I want to
hear that again. And then they really get a taste
for it and then they'll say, you know what? I don't want to
hear anything else. That's all I want to hear. I
don't want to hear about free willism. I don't want to hear
about making your decision for Jesus. I don't want to hear about
put you in the baddest and wash your sins away. I want to hear
about the blood and the righteousness of the effectual Savior that
actually saved His people from their sins. That's what happens
when God's Word goes forth effectually. The servant describes his service. Verse 7 he talks about he was
despised. Thus said the Lord the Redeemer
of Israel, His Holy One, to Him whom man despiseth, to Him whom
the nation abhorreth. The nation of Israel, they hated
Him. And you know, they still hate him. They still hate him. And you'd still hate him had
not the conquering gospel overcome you. The Father says to the Son, you'll
be a servant to rulers, kings shall see and arise. He was made
under the rule of kings. He is made under the law. He
is made under parental law, born under parental law, lived under
the law of the rulers, lived under the law of the civil law,
and lived under God's law. But thus saith the Lord, verse
8, In an acceptable time I have heard thee In a day of salvation
I've helped thee. I'll preserve thee. I'll give
thee for a covenant of the people to establish the earth and cause
to inherit the desolate heritages. Now I know this. He's a mediator
of the covenant. He's the surety of the covenant.
He's the messenger of the covenant. His blood sealed the covenant.
But you know what this passage is saying? He is the covenant.
He is Himself the Covenant. He is the Covenant of Grace.
All of the Covenant of Grace is in King Jesus. And if you
ever see that, then like David on your deathbed, David will
say, all of my salvation is in that Covenant. It's sure, it's
steadfast, it's never going to fail because He can't fail. He
is the Covenant. God says, I send you forth, look
at verse 9, that thou mayest say to the prisoners, go forth.
That's what He says. To them who are in darkness,
show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways and
their pasture shall be in high, all high places. Go forth, He
says. He didn't say, please make a
decision for me. Here's the prophet of God speaking
with absolute authority and he says to the prisoners, go forth,
you're free. He didn't, I'm knocking on your
heart's door, will you let me? Will you let me do something
for you? Won't you let me do something? No, here's the key,
he says, go forth. Go forth. He says to those who
are in darkness, show yourselves. Manifest yourselves to be my
people by the faith that I'm going to give you. And he says in verse 10, they're
not going to hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the
sun smite them. For he that hath mercy on them
shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide
them. He's going to show mercy to them,
he's going to guide them. He said, and I will make all
my mountains away, and my highways shall be exalted. Behold, these
shall come from far. They shall come. They are far
off, lost in sin, but they shall come. You got to love the Lord's
shalls. Don't you? You got to love His
shalls. When He says something shall
happen, well, it shall happen. He says, Behold, these shall
come from far, and lo, these from the north and from the west,
and these from the land of Sinim, that is China, even from China. Because He's got a people from
everywhere. That's why we go forth sending
the gospel. You know, even from this little
group right here, as we send the gospel out by CDs and DVDs
and the internet, There are people in foreign countries that listen
to this word. It wasn't so many years ago when
somebody said, you know, the gospel, as it says in Mark, the
gospel has got to go around the world. I said, how in the world
is that going to happen? Well, that thing called the internet.
And I heard somebody say, it wasn't too long ago, I said,
the devil invented the internet. No, they said the devil created
the internet. I said, well, the devil can't
create nor destroy. But I then said to him, I'll
just say what Joseph said to his brothers. Well, you meant
it for evil, but God meant it for good to save much people
alive. And that's happened. I've corresponded
with a man in Pakistan. How am I ever going to preach
the gospel to somebody in Pakistan? except this way, this way. And people in Africa, people
all over the world. You'd be amazed how many nations,
there are people in so many nations throughout this world that watch
us on the internet. Folks over in Hawaii, that's
how I got acquainted with them. Somebody in Michigan told somebody
in India about our ministry and that person in India told somebody
in Hawaii about our ministry. That's how that happened. Go
figure that. I tell you, the ways of God are
mysterious, aren't they? See, He's got a people out there.
Don't be discouraged. The work is successful. The work
is going forward and it goes forward in God's time according
to His will. And these shall come. That's
effectual calling. Well, the rest of this, begin
in verse 13. Here's a call to rejoice. But
then Zion says, verse 14, the Lord's forsaken me. Zion, God's
people get down in the dumps. The Lord said, I'm not going
to forget you. I'm not going to forget you. In fact, He said,
look at verse 18. Lift up thine eyes round about,
and behold, all these gather themselves together and come
to thee. As I live, saith the Lord, thou
shalt surely clothe thee with them all as with an ornament,
and bind them on thee as a bride doeth." This is what God says,
and He can swear by no greater, so He swears by Himself. God
says, as I live, this is going to happen. As I live, this is
going to happen. As I live, these people are going
to come to you, my servant, to be saved. He says, for thy waste
and thy desolate places, the land of thy destruction shall
even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants. I tell you
what, one of these days when God gathers all of His elect
together, we're going to say, man, that's a bunch of people.
Now, now, it's a little flock. And our Lord says, fear not,
little flock. But I'll tell you, millions of
people, millions of people chosen out in God's grace and washed
in the blood of the Redeemer and robed in the garments of
salvation, called effectually by the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ. They're going to come to Him.
God says this in verse 22, and I got to go quick. Thus saith
the Lord God, behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles. I'm going to set up my banner,
my standard to the people. That's the word standard is banner. That's Christ Jesus. He's the
Lord, our banner. And they shall bring thy sons
in their arms, and their daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders."
In other words, here's a picture of somebody in Israel and they
hold up their staff. Every tribe of Israel had their
own banner, had their own staff. They held it up. When they held
it up, people from the family said, oh yeah, there's my standard,
I'm going to... God says, I'm going to lift up
my ensign, I'm going to lift up my standard. Who is that?
Christ Jesus. And all the family comes to Him.
That's what God says. I'm going to lift up the standard.
I'm going to set up my banner. I'm going to set up my son. And
all of my children are going to come to Him. And it says in
verse 23, Kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens
thy nursing mothers. In other words, they all exist
to serve the purpose of God for His people. That's why these
companies exist. These big corporations, they
exist ultimately to take care of God's children. I know a lot
of people benefit from them, but hey, don't miss the purpose. God raises up these people with
authority, people with money, people with great wealth. He
raises them up to take care of His children. God's interested
in His children. He's interested in a nation.
It's His nation. We're the nation. God's people.
Not the United States of America. I'm thankful for the United States
of America, but that's not the nation God's interested in. The
nation He's interested in is the nation He's loved with an
everlasting love. And that's the nation of His
elect in Christ Jesus. That's the nation who's coming
to the Lord. And blessed is the nation whose
God is the Lord. That nation. is the nation of
God's elect. And the last few verses, 24,
25, and 26, here's God's servant. Listen to this, shall the prey
be taken from the mighty? Or the lawful captive be delivered? Oh yeah, see we're the prey.
We've been captured. We've been taken captive. Been taken captive by Satan at
his will. But thus saith the Lord, even
the captives of the mighty shall be taken away." Who's going to
take them away? Somebody who's more mighty than the evil one.
Our Savior. And the prey of the terrible.
They shall be delivered. But listen to God's servant.
He says, For I will contend with him that contendeth with thee. Here's what he's saying. Your
enemies are my enemies. And I'm going to conquer them
for you. I can't conquer them. You can't conquer them. We're
just weaklings. But he's got all the power. He said, all the
power is given to me in heaven and in earth. And here's the
servant. He says, I will save thy children. I will save thy children. His
name is Jesus. He shall save his people from
their sins. Well, what about the rest of
them? What about those who oppose God's children? Verse 26, I'll
feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh. They shall be
drunken with their own blood as with sweet wine, and all flesh
shall know that I, the Lord, am thy Savior and thy Redeemer,
the mighty one of Jacob. What's he saying? I'm going to
save my people and I'm going to destroy all the opposition.
This is God's servant, God's faithful servant, our great Savior. Let's sing number 192.
