Not ashamed to be called Our God

Donnie Bell September, 25 2022 Audio

In the sermon titled "Not Ashamed to Be Called Our God," Don Bell focuses on the profound doctrinal truth that God is not ashamed to identify with His people. He articulates that God's immutable nature—His inability to lie, change, or be tempted—contrasts sharply with human fallibility. Supporting his points with Scripture, particularly from Hebrews 11, Titus, and Exodus, Bell emphasizes that God's promise of eternal life is guaranteed because He cannot betray His word. The sermon asserts that the comfort derived from God's steadfastness informs believers' identity, assuring them of their acceptance despite their imperfections. The significance of this doctrine lies in its assurance of salvation and the relational dynamic that believers are invited to enjoy with a God who is always willing to be their God.

And look what it says. But now
they desire a better country, that is in heavenly, where God,
God is not ashamed to be called their God. That's my subject
today. God not ashamed to be called
our God. That's one of them things that
you can't get your mind around. You look at yourself and think
about yourself right now. Who you are, what you are, what
you think, what you do. And God says, I'm not ashamed.
I'm not ashamed to be called their God. Look at you. Call your name. I'm not ashamed. I'm not ashamed to be called
his God. I'm not ashamed. You know, we
love to talk about what God is. Who He is. We love to talk about
that. We love to talk about all that He can do. All the power
and all the glory and all the authority that He has. But even
with all that He can do, with all the authority that He has,
all the glory that He has, there's some things that He cannot do.
That He cannot do. One thing is He cannot lie. He
cannot lie. You know, turn back, you keep
11, Hebrews 11, and turn back over here to Titus, and Titus
is that little book right before the book of Hebrews. God is not
a liar, it's impossible for God to lie. You know, by two immutable things
in which it was impossible for God to lie, he gave us two immutable
things. And look what it says here. In verse one and two of Titus,
Paul, a servant of God, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to
the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth,
which after godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, that
cannot lie, promised before the world began. You reckon he'll
keep that promise, since he can't lie? So he's not able to lie,
it's impossible for God to lie. In fact, he said, let every man
be a liar, but let God be true. And I'll tell you something else
he's not able to do, he cannot do. He cannot be tempted. God tempteth no man, and he cannot
be tempted with evil. God is not tempted by anything
that's wrong, anything that's evil. He's not a partaker of
anything that's evil. God is not able to be tempted.
You know, man, and he won't even let us be tempted above that
we're able to bear. But he's not able to be tempted.
How could you tempt God to do anything? Could you tempt him
to say something he ought not say, do some deed he's not able
to do? Could you tempt him to say something
he ought not say? Can God be tempted to be anything
that he's not? And I'll tell you something else
he's not able to do, he cannot do. He cannot deny himself. He can't, he can't deny himself.
He sees all the things that goes on in this world, said all men
may deny him. We went through that here recently.
Man may deny God. Denies existence, denies power,
denies glory, denies authority, denies word. Deny the blood of
Christ. But God said, man may deny me. And he may deny me by his profession
and things that he says and do. But one thing I won't do, I will
not deny myself and I won't deny myself when I'm in God's people.
I will not deny the fact that I'm in them. And here's another
thing he can't do. He cannot change. He cannot change. God is immutable. Oh, that's
why he said, all you sons of Jacob, Trusted the Lord, but he cannot
change. He's immutable. It's an impossibility
for God to change. And here's another thing that
he does not do and cannot do. And I'll tell you, this is one
thing that folks just despise about God, but this is one of
the characters that he has. He cannot love everybody. He
cannot do that. In fact, he says he won't do
it. You know what I told you in the book of Acts, the love
of God's not mentioned in the book of Acts. And here God says,
Jacob have I loved, Esau have I hated. And God said, I hate
the workers of iniquity. I'm angry with the wicked every
day. So God, he cannot, it's impossible for him to love everybody.
Now when I say that, I mean that's God's nature. If he loved everybody,
it'd be like a man being married and loving every woman the same
that he loves his wife. That's an impossibility. And
what kind of man would love his wife and then love every other
woman equal to what he loves his wife? That's the way God
is. God cannot love everybody no more than a man can love his
wife and everybody else. And folks, they don't like that,
but I mean, that's just the way it is. And the fact, and here's
another thing he cannot do, he cannot die for everybody in this
world. He can't do it. But I tell you,
these things that I mentioned today, these things are very
comforting, very assuring to me. These things about his blessed
nature and his character are very comforting to me. Nor he
ain't gonna lie, cannot lie. can't be tempted, can't deny
himself, can't change. Oh, that's comforting to me.
Oh my. And what I'm saying is God's
not like us in any way. Not like us in any way. He does
not need us whatsoever. He does not need us. He didn't
need us before we got here and after we're gone, He still won't
need us. Well, I tell you what, we need Him. He don't need us,
but we need Him. And we're all these things that
He is not. Liars. We change. We can be tempted. All the things, we can do everything
that God cannot do. Boy, He's not like us. But now look
here. Look there at verse 16. Look at this startling, startling
statement, and it is to me. It says there in the middle of
that verse, wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their
God. Oh my. Wherefore he hath prepared
for them a city. Now this is what I'm saying,
God cannot, and he's not ashamed to be called our God. With all of them, we're not like
Him at all. And He's not ashamed to be called
our God. The force of that term, the force of that statement,
that God looks at every one of us and all of His children, wherever
they are in this world, He looks at them, and He looks at them
corporately and says, I'm not ashamed to be called their God. When Abraham was lying and saying,
Sarah, you tell them that you're my sister, God was not ashamed
to be called his God. When Lot had to be drug out of
Sodom, God said, I'm not ashamed to be called his God. When David
was with Bathsheba, God said, I'm not ashamed to be called
his God. That's a big statement, ain't
it? Can you grasp the fact that God looks at you and said, I'm
not ashamed to be called his God? Oh my. But now we make fun, all of us
make fun of this modern day God, so-called savior, who won't let
anybody do anything for him unless they let him. We pity those people
and the way they worship him, the figment of their imagination.
And we can't stand up and say, we can't stand up, and God can't
stand up and say, this is my people. These folks that say
Christ died for them. These folks that says God loves
everybody. God cannot stand up and say,
I'm not ashamed to be called their God. He can't do that.
He can't do that. I'm not embarrassed by them.
I'm not ashamed of them. And then the other side of that
is those who ridicule our God and our way of worshiping Him.
They say, I wouldn't worship a God who is sovereign. I wouldn't worship a God who
doesn't love everybody. I wouldn't worship a God who
does as He pleases. I wouldn't worship a God like
that, that don't love everybody that Christ didn't die for. My
God's a God of love. He couldn't hate anybody. Oh
my. He's an unjust God. He's a monster. Well, I'll tell you one thing.
You better get ready to meet a monster, because I tell you,
you're gonna meet a God who sits on his throne, and he deals with
people in this world the way seems good in his sight, and
according, he decreed, this is what I love about God, God decreed
what's gonna happen in the very end, and everybody that's gonna
be gathered around the throne, before he ever created heaven,
before he ever created the earth, before the sun ever shone, he
had it all decreed to happen, and everything in between. People
say, oh, that's too much. Well, that's just right for me. That's just right for me. Oh,
but in the ridicule, and there are people that do ridicule,
and they slander. The Jews did it. They slandered
Christ. They slandered the gospel. They
slandered the Lord Jesus Christ. Pharaoh said, who is the Lord?
And I tell you, Assyria, let me tell you a little story. Assyria
gathered around Jerusalem, gathered around all of Jerusalem. And
they had an army of 185,000 people scattered all around Jerusalem. And this fella stood up and he
said, now don't let Hezekiah tell you that their Lord's gonna
save him. He said, and we went to this
place and their gods didn't save us, and we went to conquer that
conqueror, their gods didn't save us. We went over here and
conquered this, and their gods didn't save us. So I tell you
what, don't let Hezekiah tell you your God's gonna save you,
because he ain't gonna do it. No other god did. You know what
Hezekiah did? He went before the Lord. He laid
that letter that them guys threatened him with, laid it before the
Lord. He said, Lord, they're not threatening me. They're not
going to destroy me. They're making fun of you. They
say you can't do anything. You know what happened after
he done that? The angel of the Lord went out and killed 85,000
of them. And they got up the next day
and every one of them was gone. That's what I'm saying. God wouldn't
kill that many people. Listen. You know how many you reckon
perished in the flood? You stand up against God. You
stand up against God. You stand up and put your chest
out in the presence of God. Let your lips Curse God. Let your mind curse God. Let
your thoughts curse God. Stand up against him and see
how long you last. That's what happens to people.
And I tell you what, and all those people, when God looked
at Hezekiah and said, I'm not ashamed to be called his God
because you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to save him.
He's mine. No, I tell you, and I tell you
Paul stood up and preached on Mars Hills and they got around
and said, that fellow seems to be sent forth as strange gods.
I've never heard a God like that before. A God of heaven and a
God of earth. He don't worship men, don't dwell
in temples made by hands and he's not worshiped with men's
hands and he don't care about your silver and he don't care
about your gold. Huh? Oh, and then, but here God says,
He says, wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God.
Why is it that He's not ashamed? Well, I'll tell you what. Here's
the, let me give you some reasons. And you know, He's not ashamed
to be called our God. Look back down here at verse
six. You know why? And this, without
faith, it's impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, that he is. Now what in the world
does that mean? You gotta believe that he is
who he says he is. And that's the first thing that
God teaches us, that who he is. He teaches us, you know, he's
eternal, immutable, holy, just, creator of heaven and earth.
Look over here in Exodus 3 with me. Let's look in Exodus 3 together. I want you to see this. You know,
God does as he pleases, when he pleases, always as he pleases. Paul said he was the only wise
God that dwells in the light that no man can approach unto.
We believe that he is who he says he is. Look what it says
here in Exodus chapter 3 and verse 6. You know, he's standing before
this burning bush and the bush is not consumed. God told him,
you know, he's standing before that burning bush, and God, this
is what God said to him when he's standing before there. Moreover,
he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he
was afraid to look upon God. Now look what he says down here
in verse 13. And Moses said unto God, behold,
when I come unto the children of Israel, they shall say unto
them, and I shall say unto them, the God of your fathers has sent
me unto you, and they're gonna say to me, what is his name?
What is his name? What shall I say unto him? What
am I gonna say about you? God said unto Moses, I am that
I am. I always am. I always am, right now, he I
ain't, right now, he it. I am, right now, I am. He was
I am before he created the world, he's I am right now, and he's
I am throughout eternity. I am Alpha and Omega. I am the
beginning and the ending. And he goes on to say, oh my,
yeah, that's, in verse 15, and Moses said, God said more unto Moses, thou
shalt say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your
fathers. The God of Abraham, the living
God. The God of Isaac, the God of covenant. God of Jacob, the
God of election, has sent me unto you. My name and this memorial
unto every generation. Oh my. So I tell you, he's the
great I Am. And I love to say about how he's
omni, omnipotent, omniscient. He's all powerful. And he works
all things after the counsel of his own will. Do you know,
you've heard this so many times, that David said, they come to
the heathen, come to David, said, David, where's your God? Where
is your God? We got ours, we got him over
here in the temple. He said, where's yours? David
said, well, I can see yours, but you can't see mine. Our God's
in the heavens. What does he do, David? Does
whatever he pleases. Let me show you another. I tell
you, I won't take too long. Look in Psalm 135. That's what
we're talking about. Now, the God I'm describing here,
the God I'm describing here is the God that says, I'm not ashamed
to be called their God. Here he is. He declares the end
from the beginning. Look down here in verse five
and six. Psalm 135. For I know the Lord is great,
and thou, our Lord, is above all gods. Whatsoever the Lord
pleased, that did he in heaven. Oh my, it's wonderful he can
do what he pleases in heaven. But what about down here? Well,
he's gonna do what he does down here. And then look over yonder
at the sea, look at all the seas, seven seas. Atlantic Ocean, Pacific
Ocean, all the seas, seven seas. And look what he says here. He
does whatever he pleased in the heaven, in earth, the seas. And if you find any place deep,
he's doing what he pleases down there too. Oh my, we find such comfort and
assurance in the God of the Bible, a sovereign, electing, predestinating
God. The God of Jacob who gets a hold
of you, grabs you, won't let you go until he changes your
walk and changes your name. And I tell you, we pray for His
will to be done, we trust His will to be done, and we bow to
His will. Oh my. We're not fatalists, we
don't believe that just things are just happening haphazardly
in life. We believe that God is, and what
that means is that God is all wise. This world's being governed
by wisdom. the wisdom of God himself, being
governed by the power of God, the God himself. And I tell you
what, he's full of mercy, full of grace, full of pity, patience,
and longsuffering. And then he says, wherefore I'm
not ashamed to be called their God. And I tell you what, you
know, Noah moved with fear and Abraham obeyed. God's not ashamed
to be called their God. Tell you another thing, Another
thing that God's not ashamed to cause his, you know, and these
are the things that he does for us. But look what it says there
in verse six again. But without faith it's impossible
to please him, for he that cometh to God. And that's what we've
done. We've come to him. We've come
to him. We've come to a God, the God
of the Bible. We've come to the God that this
blessed book says created the world. And we've come to him,
how? By faith, by faith. When what
are we talking about by faith? Well, let's go over here in verse
one. Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for. You know what substance means?
This is substance I'm standing on. Solid, something I can put
my feet on. Something I can stand on. Something
that won't come out from under me. And that's what faith is. Faith has got substance to it. You can stand on it. You can
believe it. It has a foundation. It won't
walk out, it won't leave you alone by yourself. It won't leave
you without any place to stand. And what's the place we stand?
We stand before God by faith. And what substance is that? And
then look what else he said, evidence of things not seen.
I ain't seen Christ except by faith. I ain't seen the Trinity
except by faith. There's so many things that we
don't see. So many things that we don't
see. I can't see your faith. And you can't see mine, but God
can. And look what it says, then what
else it says. And by it, by faith, the elders
obtained a good report. Who gave them a good report?
God did. God did. Faith, faith. What is not a God
of our imagination? Look what else he says here.
Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed.
The worlds. How many worlds you reckon there
are in this world? God said He framed them. How
did He frame them? How was the Word of God? How
was the world framed? God said. God spake and it was
done. And that's what He said. We're
framed by the Word of God. So whatever you're looking at
right now, and looking at in this world, the things that you
can see were not made, but things that you can see. Oh, I tell
you, this world, you can't, you see what you see? We're not made
by themselves. God made them. And here's another
thing we have faith in. We have faith in a sacrifice.
Look what it said there in verse four. By faith, able to offer
unto God a more excellent sacrifice. Oh my. We have a sacrifice. We have the sacrifice appointed
by God himself. God gave us, when Abraham went
up on the mountain with his son, Isaac said, Father, where's the
lamb? He said, Son, my God will provide himself a lamb. And God
himself did provide himself a lamb in the person of his blessed
son. And Abel offered God a more excellent sacrifice. Well, with
Abel at a more excellent sacrifice, what kind of sacrifice do we
have when we have God's blessed son? When we have the Lord Jesus
Christ. Oh, what a Savior. I mean, we've
come to the true sacrifice. We've come to the Lord Jesus
Christ, who by Himself put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself. God Himself said, this is my
beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. God gave His Son to
be an offering, gave His Son to be our sacrifice, gave His
Son to be our substitute, gave His Son to be everything to us. And that's why he said no man
can receive anything except to be given him from heaven. And
so we have a sacrifice. A more excellent, you know, Abel
had an excellent sacrifice. He did, he had an excellent sacrifice. So if he had an excellent sacrifice,
what kind of sacrifice do you think we have when we have the
Lord Jesus Christ himself? Look over here in Hebrews 10.
Let me show you something here. I believe it's Hebrews 10 I want
to look at. Yeah. Look what it says down here in
verse 11. Every priest stands Every day,
all day, ministering, offering, oftentimes, the same sacrifices
over and over and over again, which can never take away sins.
But this man, this man, after he had offered one, just one
sacrifice for sins, forever, he sat down. And you see that
there in verse 10 says they had to stand. They never, they always
stand and offer the same sacrifices over and over. Not one of those
sacrifices put away sin. But the Lord Jesus Christ, after
he had offered one sacrifice for sin, he never stood again.
He sat down. Where'd he sit down? At the right
hand of God. Why? Because he don't need another
sacrifice. And then look what it says there
in verse 14. For by one offering, He hath
perfected forever them that are sanctified. Just one sacrifice, all it took.
And I tell you, that's our sacrifice. When Moses said, God said, you
go down there and tell them I am what I am. Well, you go before
God with the Lord Jesus Christ and God Almighty. And this is
the thing, that God gave us the faith, God brought us to faith,
God enabled us to faith, gave us the substance of faith, and
then he gave us the Lord Jesus Christ as our sacrifice for our
sin. No, I tell you, faith, let me
tell you, now listen, faith did not put away sin, Christ did.
Faith doesn't satisfy God's justice, Christ did. Faith believes what
happens, faith believes this and it's done, not do. And that's
the difference between what we believe and most people. Their faith is always working
to do. Our faith says it's already done.
It's done. We believe that it's done. There's
nothing left for us to do. What could we possibly do if
the Lord Jesus did it all? Our Lord Jesus, He pleased the
Father. He established righteousness. And God receives us for His sake. And with His spotless garments
on, we're as holy as God's own Son. Wherefore God is not ashamed
to be called their God. Because the sacrifice that He
provided is acceptable. And that's the only way. And
God's not ashamed to be called our God. Tell you something else
that faith does. Something else faith does. Look
what it says up here in verse 7. By faith we condemn the world. By faith nor being warned of
God of things not seen as yet. That's one of those things, you
know, that things not seen. You know, rain had never been
seen. Judgment had never come. Except
on Adam and Eve. But Noah being warned of God
of things not seen as yet. But he had substance to it. He
believed it. He moved with fear. And he prepared
an ark for the saving of his house. Now listen to this. By
which he condemned the world. And that's what faith does. Faith
condemns the world and says we're strangers and we're pilgrims.
That's what it says. We're no longer strangers and
pilgrims on this earth. You know, faith, we condemn the
world. How in the world can that be? Well, when you say you believe
God, how many people you know that believe God? How many people
you know that trust the Lord Jesus Christ? How many people
in your family know God? How many people in your family
trust the Lord? How many people does? And I tell
you what, we condemn the world. Look down there in verse 13. Oh, we're going to have a city
that's sure. Look in verse 10. This is why
we're strangers and pilgrims. Because he looked for a city.
But faith was a stranger. Abraham was. He looked for a
city. He spent his whole life looking for a city. Which has
foundations. Whose builder and maker is God.
And then I tell you what. By faith we condemn the world.
Faith makes that city sure. I've not been to that city. I've
not been to that city, but I'm going to that city. I'm looking
for that city. I'm looking for God to take me
to a city that's got a foundation. And God Himself laid that foundation. And every time I look at that,
the world is condemned when I tell them that I've got a hope beyond
this world. I've got a place to live eternally. You know, we know that people
die, live and then they die. But what God does for us, we're
dead and he brings us from death to life in Christ. And this is
what we're talking about. We're talking about, we have
a city, a foundation. And I'll tell you, look what
he said again there. These all died in faith. They died in faith. They said, I'm looking for a
city whose builder and maker is God. David said, I'm a stranger
with you, as were my fathers. But I tell you what, you know
how we condemned the world? Just the same way that Noah condemned
the world. When Noah was preparing that
ark, the world looked at him and said, this old man's a fool.
He's a nut. He's building him a great big
boat. He's building a boat. There's
no, I don't see no sea, I don't see no, why is he building a
boat out here in the middle of nowhere? Ain't no water, there
ain't no lake, there ain't no river. Because God said, Noah,
in 120 years I'm gonna cause it to start raining. Well, Noah
for 120 years, he believed that. He stood on that promise right
there, he stood there. that he built that ark, and every
day that he's working on that ark, they made fun of him. Even
people that worked on that ark made fun of him. And they said, boy, that old
man's crazy, crazy, crazy. He's nuts. But then one day, one day it started raining. That's
the same way. When Noah got in that ark, and
him working on that ark, every day he worked and every day he
believed God's promise, the world was condemned. And then when
he got in that ark, that world was really condemned. That world
was judged, that world was condemned, and that world was destroyed.
And that's the way it is. We're in the ark. We're in the
ark. We're not living by luck. We're
not living by chance. We're not living by accident.
We're not living with a way of dealt the cards given to us.
We're living by Christ and Christ alone. Like Noah got in that
ark, we're in Christ and Christ alone. Huh? Oh, we look into
our promises. The promise is given to us in
Christ. And I tell you, by doing that, we condemn the world. Whenever
I'm around my family, my faith in what I believe in Christ,
in Christ alone, condemns my family. They're under the judgment
of God. And your family. And I'll tell you what, I'll
tell you some people that God, people that God did not say He
was ashamed to be called their God. Look down there in verse
4 again. I tell you, God said, I tell you what, he didn't say
about Cain, I'm not ashamed to be called his God. No, no, no,
he didn't say that. Oh, Cain. God, God didn't, God
said, oh, I'm ashamed of Cain. I'm ashamed of Cain, I'm embarrassed
by Cain. He come bringing to me not blood,
he come bringing to me the works of his own hands. He wasn't,
Ishmael, ah listen, I'm ashamed of Ishmael. He's born of the
flesh. Esau, he didn't, he wanted a,
he left his birthright for a bone old man. And I'll tell you what,
God said who he was not ashamed to be called their God. Cain,
Ishmael, Esau. But I tell you what, he looked
at Abel, he looked at Noah, he looked at Abraham, he looked
at sinners and said, I'm not ashamed to be called their God. Sinners who came by the Lord
Jesus Christ, like Simon Peter, like David, you find the place,
you find the situation, you find the circumstances where God is
ashamed to be called their God. You take us before God's holy
law. Take your conscience before God's law. That law that said
love God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself.
Take your conscience right now before God and take it before
the law of God. And see if God's ashamed to be
called you God. He's not. You know why? Because
Christ is the end of the law. For righteousness to everyone
that believes. No, go before His justice. Is God ashamed to
be called our God before the justice of God that said the
soul that sinned, it must die? No, I'm not ashamed. Why? Because
Christ satisfied God's justice by bearing His wrath. Oh my,
God's holiness, God's righteousness. He's not ashamed to be called
our God in light of all of His holiness and all of His righteousness. I'm not ashamed to be called
their God. And then before devils, Satan was running to and fro.
And God said, where are you going, Satan? He said, I'm not going
to and fro. Looking for somebody I can reach
down and devour them. I can just eat them up. God said,
listen, have you ever looked at my servant Job? God wasn't ashamed of Job. Have
you ever looked at him? He's a perfect and an upright
man, and he eschews evil. And oh, he eschews evil. And
I tell you, God wasn't ashamed to be called his God before the
devils and before men when they were stoning Stephen to death.
You know what, Stephen, he looked up and he said, I see the Lord
Jesus! The Lord Jesus Christ said, I'm
not ashamed to be Stephen's God. Well, they stoned him to death
because they hated the gospel he preached, because they hated
the Christ that he preached to them. Stoned him to death. And I tell you, come before men,
God said, I'm not ashamed to be called their God. And then
before angels, the angels stood and tried to look into this gospel
that we believe. Tried to look into the fact,
how did our Lord of glory, how did the Son of God who is eternal,
who we loved and obeyed and saw his glory for eternity, how in
the world did he go down there and become identified with him?
And they tried to look into it, how could it be? And I tell you, before any angel,
God said, you know, God never redeemed one angel. Christ never
died for one angel. Christ never gave himself for
one angel. But when our Lord Jesus Christ
died for us, you know what he said? And every one of us were
sinners. Every one of us was lost. Every one of us was dead
in trespass sin. And God looked at us before he
even saved us. He said, I'm not ashamed to be
called their God. Oh, before your own heart, look
before your own heart. You ever grumble? Ever complain? Commit sin? Suffer? I tell you, no matter what you
say, what you do, God said, I'm not ashamed to be called their
God. I'm not ashamed. I'm not ashamed. And I tell you, our Lord Jesus
Christ, there's never a time, never a place, never a situation,
never circumstances. For we're ashamed of our God. Are you ashamed of your God?
He's not ashamed of us. I'm not ashamed of Him either,
are you? No, I'm not ashamed of Him. We confess Him. We own Him. We bless Him. And we bless His Son for being
our great God and our Savior. If God's not ashamed of me, I'm
not ashamed of Him. I'm not ashamed to say who He
is. I'm not ashamed to say that He's the only Savior. I'm not
ashamed to say that His blood is the only one that can cleanse
from sin. Now let me give you this one last thing. Look with
me in Romans 10. Romans 10. Verse 9. And when we come to the end of
the way, when we come to where this life is over and done with,
look what it says here in verse 9. That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, that thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead. Do you believe that,
that God raised the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead? And what
that means is that God, that Christ, when He died, He actually
satisfied God, He actually put away sin, that He was actually
raised again from the dead. Huh? If you believe that God
gave His blessed Son, you confess that with your mouth. Believe
in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Thou shalt
be saved. And this is the way it works.
For with the heart, with the heart man believes unto righteousness,
the righteousness of Christ, the only righteousness. And then
what you do when you believe that this is the only righteousness,
that God raised him from the dead, that he sits in God's right
hand, that he put away sin, and with the mouth you confess that
salvation. And listen to this now. For the
Scripture says, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Now what does that mean? That
don't mean that we will not be ashamed of him, but it says,
he that believeth on him shall not be brought to shame at the
judgment. That's what that means. Wherefore
he shall not be brought to shame. And Isaiah says he shall not
be confounded. There's gonna be a lot of people
confounded at that day. There's gonna be a bunch of people
get up and say, Lord, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
Do you know how many times we've preached in your name? Do you
know how many devils we cast out? Do you know how many prayers
we prayed? Do you know how many church services
we attended? Do you know how dedicated we
were? Do you know how much money we
gave? And you know what they're gonna
hear? They're gonna be brought to shame. Depart from me, you
workers of iniquity. I never knew you. But he'll look
at us and say, I'm not ashamed to be his God. I'm not ashamed
to be her God. I'm not ashamed to be their God.
And everybody else is gonna be ashamed. Get away, get away,
get away. Oh my. But not those. They'll never
hear that, those that confess the Lord. And what do we confess? We confess that He's everything
and we're nothing. I'm empty, He's got to fill me.
I'm sinful and I've got to have His righteousness. And if you
believe in that heart, right in your heart, that heart means
your mind, your heart, whatever you are, what makes you you?
If you believe in your heart that God raised him to death,
that he satisfied God, that he honored God, that he put away
sin, sin has been finished. And I tell you what, he has endured
it and consumed sin, and it's by believing and trusting and
taking Christ to be your all before God Almighty. And all
who have this faith and believe God, you know what every one
of them's gonna do back over here in Hebrews 11, 13? These all died in faith. Every
one of them died in faith. Oh, what a blessed thing to die
in the faith. Paul said, I've kept the faith.
And I tell you, they all died. God-given faith will all die
in the faith. And you know what? He's already
prepared them a place to live for eternity. He's already prepared
it. Yeah, he said, he hath prepared
for them. For who? Them. Who's them? Those that he's not ashamed to
be called their God. I've got a city for them. Oh
boy, it's gonna be a wonderful day if we go in that city. You
think Jerusalem was something, they called it Zion. You wait
till we go to where God dwells, that city where God built for
us. It's gonna be a blessed day. Our Father, oh our Lord and our
God, thank you for your gospel, thank you for your word, thank
you for your truth. Lord, forgive me if everything
is so, so unlike you. Lord, I pray that you, it's your
word, it's your word, it's in your hands, you do with it what
you will, what you're pleased to do. I pray that it was will
be used to honor you and be used to be a blessing to your people. God bless them as we go our way
to meet with us again tonight. We ask these things in Christ's
name. Amen. Amen. Well, I'll see you tonight,
6 o'clock, God willing.
