Emo and now you radiation radiation John 7 started verse 14 Now about the midst of the feast
Jesus went up into the temple and taught and And the Jews marveled,
saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them and said,
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man
will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be
of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself,
seeketh his own glory. But he that seeketh his glory
that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in
him. Did not Moses give you the law?
Yet none of you keepeth the law. Why go ye about to kill me? The
people answered and said, Thou hast a devil. Who goeth about
to kill thee? Our Lord answered and said unto
them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Moses therefore
gave unto you circumcision, not because it is of Moses, but of
the fathers. And ye on the sabbath day circumcise
a man. If a man on the sabbath day receives
circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken, are
ye angry at me, because I have made a man ever withhold on the
sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance,
but judge righteous judgment. Then said some of them of Jerusalem,
Is not this he whom they seek to kill? But lo, he speaketh
boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know
indeed that this is the very Christ? Howbeit we know this
man whence he is, but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence
he is. Then cried Jesus in the temple,
as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I
am. And I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true,
whom ye know not. But I know him, for I am from
him, and he hath sent me. Then they sought to take him,
but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet
come. And many of the people believed
on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles
than this man hath done? Our blessed Master, our Lord
Jesus Christ, who is our great God and our Savior, who we look
for you to appear, look for you to come, but we look especially
today to you with great thanksgiving. Oh Lord, we're so thankful, so
blessed, so graced so loved, so cared for, so known of you. And Lord, because you know us,
you made us to know you. And we thank you for that and
bless you for it. And Lord, as we pray, we ask
that you'd come into our service tonight or this morning. Come
into this service. Come into our presence. Come
down among us. And oh Lord, let us see your
glory. Let us see your power. Let us
see your mercy, your love, and your grace. Let us see your righteousness. Let us see your blessed Son,
the Lord Jesus Christ. May we behold Him. May we worship
Him. May we honor Him. May we, from
our heart of hearts, find Him to be everything. And Lord, find
Him to be our only hope, our only righteousness, our only
acceptance before You. Lord, may You work this into
the hearts today. Bring glory to yourself. We thank
you for those saints that's back with us. Kyle and Annie. Thank
you for Bruce and Sandy. Lord, we pray for them. Pray
for their strength. Pray for your abundance of mercy
and strength given to them. Thank you that they are strong
enough and able to come out. And we thank you for what you've
done for them. And Lord, we pray for the lost among us. God, do
something for them. And our Lord Jesus for our lost
families. sons, daughters, grandsons, grandchildren,
husbands and wives. And for those that's been asked
to be prayed for, we pray for them. God meet with us today
for Christ's sake. Amen. And I talked about how the Jews
sought to kill our Lord Jesus Christ. And how his brethren
didn't believe in him. The incredible unbelief of his
own brethren. And how our Lord Jesus Christ
was in absolute submission to his Father. Obedient to his word,
obedient to his will. Said, my time is not yet full,
God. Now in verse 14 it says, Our Lord, now in the midst of
the feast, he went up into the temple and he taught. taught. He began teaching. He wasn't intimidated, wasn't
frightened by those who sought to kill him. But I want to get
my subject out of verse 17. If any man will do his will,
he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or of myself. Now I want to ask you, do you
know the doctrine? Do you know the doctrine? That's
what our Savior is saying. Him that does the will of my
Father, he shall know of the doctrine. Our Lord, it says here
in verse 14 that our Lord Jesus Christ in the middle of the feast,
this feast lasted eight days. He's in the middle of this feast.
Come up there after everybody else had been there. And so it's
the middle of the week. He goes into the temple and he
begins to teach. And the temple's only been mentioned
twice so far. When our Lord Jesus cleansed
the temple, and he came there one time and he saw people selling
the sacrifices, changing money, selling, making merchandise of
his father's house, he'd run them all out. Run them all out. And then the second time you
find our Lord Jesus Christ in the temple, he's at the pool
of Bethesda, remember? And he come to this impotent
man and he asked him, said, will thou be made whole? And he says,
you know, when the seasons come right, somebody get in the pool
and they would be healed of whatever infirmity. But our Lord looked
at that man and he says, will thou be made whole? He said,
I've got no man. that can pick me up and put me
in this pool. And our Lord Jesus Christ says,
take up thy bed and walk. That pool ain't gonna do nothing
for you, but I can. That pool can't make you walk,
but I can. That you're laying there empty
with no power, but I've got all power. And that's the thing that
our Lord Jesus Christ. But here's the first time. Here's
the first time we find our Lord Jesus Christ teaching in the
temple. So he's teaching in the temple.
Look what it says in verse 15. We're just going to go down through
here and kind of see what the Bible says about these things.
Do you know the doctrine? And the Jews marveled. Marveled. They marveled at our Lord Jesus
Christ lots of times. And our Lord Jesus marveled at
two things, unbelief and faith. But here he says this, how knoweth
this man? They marveled at this. Here's
this man setting and teaching, opening up the scriptures. And
they said, how does this man know the scriptures? How does
this man have letters? Where did he get his education
at? What rabbinical school did he go to? Paul went to Gamaliel's
school. You remember it said he went
to Gamaliel's school. He was the best teacher of his day.
He was the best rabbi of his day, teaching people the law.
Teaching people the pharisaical doctrine. How does this man,
having never learned? That's the first thing they want
to know. Where's his credentials? Where's his credentials? He ain't
got no credentials. What in the world does he think
he's doing? And that's what they did. They just stood back and
marveled. They heard all these rabbis, they heard all these
people, and all their talking, and all their teaching, and all
the things that they taught about Moses, and all the things they
taught about the law. Six hundred and something different
rules and regulations and standards and precepts that they had to
follow. You haven't been to none of the
rabbinical schools that we know of. Well, where in the world
did this man get educated at? And our Lord, no doubt, took
the Scriptures. Took the Scriptures. Even with
His own disciples, He had to open their understanding. And
if you and I know anything about the Scriptures, Christ has got
to teach us. Christ has got to open our understanding
to Him. And our Lord, no doubt here,
opened the Scriptures. And I'm telling you what, there's
only one thing He taught concerning the Scriptures. That was himself. That was himself. Is that not
what you find him teaching things about himself? He's not going
to talk about the issues of the day. He's not going to talk about
politics. He's not going to talk about
all the things that people do. But no, no, he no doubt opened
the scriptures concerning himself. And he probably talked about
this feast of booths. Where they all had to come back
to Jerusalem and set them up in a little booth and live under
them booths for seven days? He probably taught what that
means. How that they were strangers when they were brought up out
of Egypt. How God brought them up out of Egypt. How He was the
Passover Lamb. And He probably talked about,
you know, you talk about the Feast of Tabernacles. He said,
you know what the real tabernacle of God is? Do you know what it
is? It's me. I'm the tabernacle of
God come down to be with men. God tabernacled among men. And you find over in Revelations
about the tabernacle of God. The tabernacle of God is with
men and that tabernacle is our Lord Jesus Christ. He was manifested
in the flesh and that means tabernacled among us. And I'll tell you what,
beloved, when you talk about the tabernacle, we'll get to
that eventually in Exodus. But there's this tent. a tent
out in the wilderness. Badger skin on the outside. Badger
skin, just old skin. Hair on the skin. But when you
went out, it didn't look like nothing, just a tent. But when
you went inside, oh my, you saw golden boards. First thing you saw. And you
saw this beautiful, beautiful veil. And you saw this golden
altar and a golden candlestick over here and a golden table
over here. And you saw a golden label over
there. And you saw a golden labor back
there with the incense in it. And that's the way it is with
our Lord Jesus Christ. They just saw Him on the outside.
But God lets us see who our Lord Jesus Christ is. We see His glory. Something about His blessed glory.
And oh my! And so He was, when they talked
about dwelling in the wilderness. When they was coming through
the wilderness. Our Lord Jesus Christ no doubt said, you know
that fire that followed you by night? and protected you from
everything out there? And then that cloud that went
before you before the day? He said, that's me. I was the
angel of the Lord that God sent to protect you from the back,
but guard you from the front. Can you imagine? Can you imagine
the way our Lord Jesus Christ spoke? We'll get to hear His
voice one of these days. I hear His voice in His Word.
And I tell you what, right now, that's blessed to me. To hear
the voice of Christ in His Word. To hear Him speak to me from
His Word. To hear Him touch my heart from
His Word. To hear Him speak to me, to my
brain, in His Word. To hear Him let me know Himself
in His Word. Oh my! Can you imagine the way
He spoke? Can you imagine the manner that
He taught? And made even his enemies marvel,
said, how in the world does this man know all these things? Never
been educated. And that's the same today. I
was telling somebody the other day, I was going through sermon
audio, looking at a lot of different sermons on a particular verse
of scriptures that I was going to use. And I'd say 75% of the
place I clicked on, it was a doctor or a PhD. Same today without education. That's a great requirement today. That's a great, great requirement
today. Everybody's got a doctor's degree. This is one of today's alters.
First thing they ask you is, where did you get educated at?
I'm going to tell you something that really happened. We went
down to Chattanooga one time to hear John Reisinger preach
at a Presbyterian church down there. And this pastor's wife asked
Mary at the time, she said, where'd your husband get his education
at? Where'd your husband go to school? This is true. She said he went to Bush College.
She said, where's that at? The Bushes up behind the house. That's a good place to get an
education. But oh my, that's what men do. Oh, these men's consciences weren't
pricked. doctor this and doctor that and
rabbi this and rabbi that. Our doctor, you know, there was
a preacher, a guy used to come here from the Presbyterian church
out here in town and he was fixing to move and they was looking
for a new preacher. And the other preacher used to
have to come out there and have fellowship with me, but I don't know this
new. But anyway, this guy told him, said, listen, there's lots
of preachers that don't have education that God's taught them.
And you need to look for somebody that's not, that God's taught
to get to pastor your church. And they said, no, no, no, no.
We got to have somebody with the degree. And that's what he
told them. But oh my, these men's consciences
weren't pricked when they heard our Lord Jesus Christ teach and
preach. It was their curiosity. Not the
claims of God. Not what Christ said about himself. That's not what they cared about.
But what they was interested in, how in the world did schools
of men, where did he get his education at? Well, look what
our Master said to them. He just ignored what they said.
He said, and Jesus answered them and says, my doctrine, My teaching
is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will,
he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or whether
I am speaking of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh
his own glory, but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the
same is true, and no unrighteousness is any. First thing he says,
my doctrine is not mine. But our Lord Jesus Christ has
said, I did not come to start a new religion. I didn't come
to start a new religion. They call it Christianity, and
it's right. It is Christianity. But our Lord
didn't come. He came with the same doctrine
of the Old Testament. The same God of the Old Testament.
The same truths of the Old Testament. The same things that the prophets
taught. The same thing that Moses taught.
Everything that our Lord Jesus Christ said. This is the doctrine. And I didn't come up with this
doctrine. I'm a man in this world and I'm God in this world. But
I want you to understand that my doctrine didn't come from
me. My doctrine came from my Father.
My doctrine came from heaven itself. My doctrine came from
heaven with me and my doctrine. Now let me tell you something.
He's the righteous, righteous servant of Jehovah. And he's
preaching and teaching the doctrine of God Almighty. He's dealing
with eternal issues. Look over here at John 8, 28
with me. Just look there for a second.
It doesn't originate in his mind as a man is what he's saying
is. That's what he's saying. It didn't originate in me as
a man. This comes from my father, me
and my father when we came. But look what our master said
here in John 8, 28. Then said Jesus unto them, when
you have lifted up, put the Son of Man on a cross, then you're
going to know that I am. And I do nothing of myself. You'll
see there that I submit myself to my Father. I submit myself
to the will of God. That I submit myself to everything
that's happened and been prophesied of me as my Father has taught
me. I speak these things. And I tell
you what His teaching is that it didn't come from any school
of man. I want to show you this. You keep John 7. Look in Galatians
chapter 1 verse 11. Look in Galatians chapter 1 verse
11. What he is saying is that my
teaching didn't come from any school of man. Man didn't teach
me this. This comes from my Father. This
comes from God Himself. This comes straight from glory. And look what the Apostle said
here. In Galatians 1.11. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached
of me is not after man. Man didn't teach me this. For I neither received it of
man, neither was I taught it. But how did I get it? Christ
taught it to me. And if a man says that, imagine
what our Lord Jesus Christ is like. Christ is saying this teaching
is not my invention. But it comes straight from the
throne of God. Him that sent me. And you notice
he said doctrine. Doctrine. And doctrine just means
teaching. And when you talk about doctrine,
when you talk about doctrine in the scriptures, it's one,
always one, singular, always singular, one whole. All of God's
teaching is one whole. And this is something that when
the gospel, when you heard the gospel and somebody has been
teaching the gospel for years, you understand from Genesis to
Revelation, you get the whole picture. You get the whole scheme
of things. You get the whole understanding.
You understand from Genesis to Revelation that this book has
a unity to it. The truth is as in harmony. It's
one truth but in many different parts. And just like our Lord
Jesus Christ, how many different offices does our Lord Jesus have?
He's God. He's man. He's prophet. He's
priest. He's king. He's the righteousness
of God. He's the servant of God. He's
the Lamb of God. He's the offering of God. He's
the tabernacle of God. He's the veil of God where God's
seen behind the veil. I mean we could go on and on
about our Lord Jesus Christ. But the doctrine I'm saying is
it's one whole. It's all one thing. And oh my,
that's why Paul says, you know, that all scriptures given by
inspiration of God's profitable for doctrine, reproof, and correction. And listen to this, instruction
in righteousness. But now in contrast, here's the,
whenever you find doctrines plural, three different times you find
it plural. There's the doctrines of men. He says, touch not, taste
not, handle not. which all are perishing according
to the doctrines of men. And then there's the doctrines
of demons, the doctrines of devils, giving heed to seducing spirits
and doctrines of devils. Why do they say that? don't follow
strange doctrines. Why do they always take doctrines
in those things? Because anything that the devil
teaches, man teaches, anything the man teaches, demons teaches,
and doctors, I'm telling you what, there's no harmony to it.
There's no harmony to it. There's no unity to it. And let
me give you an illustration. Every religion that's ever started,
ever started by man. You can go to the time and the
place and the person that started it. You can go to John Russell
Taylor. He's the fellow that started
Jehovah's Witnesses. Call him Russell. You can go to 1845 and
you can find five Baptist preachers that got together and they decided
they wanted to teach water for baptism. And the Church of Christ
was born. And then you can go to the 1920's
and you can find out when Pentecostalism was born. You can go and find
out when the Latter-day Saints, Mormons were started. You can
go back and find when the Christian science was started. You can
go back to any time and any place in history and see when a man
started a doctrine. But if you want the doctrine
of God, there's only one place you can find it at, and that's
in the Bible. You cannot go back in history and find out when
the gospel started. You can't go back in history
and find out when somebody come up with the grace of God. You
can't go back in history and find when somebody come up with
free grace and sovereign grace. You know where you find out where
grace started at? Noah found grace in the eyes
of the Lord. And that's what, you know, you
can find out when freemism started. You can find out when Arminianism
started. They call it Arminianism from
Jacob Arminius who started it. So what I'm telling you is that
when you find doctrines, you've got confusion. But when you've
got Christ and the doctrine of Christ, it goes together as harmony. It brings us all to the same
place. It brings us all to the same
God. It brings us all to the same Christ. It brings us all
to the same Bible. Oh my! Doctrine! Teaching! Teaching! And then look what
our Master said. My doctrine is not mine. I didn't
invent this. And that's what people said when
I first started preaching the Gospel down here, when we first
moved up here. People said, Boy, that Donnie Bell started a strange
doctrine, didn't he? Oh, I don't know how many people
said that. They said, That guy's got a cult!
He said, he's up there preaching election and predestination.
Who in the world ever heard of such a thing? Well, they hadn't. But that's the way it is. One
guy told Todd one time when he heard him preaching and read
an article by the paper said, hey, you couldn't get enough
people to believe that in his phone booth. Well, I tell you,
if you'd all of us fit in the phone booth today, That's how
strange the truth of God is to this generation. It's so strange
to this generation. And that's what our Master goes
to say now. If any man will do his will, if any man will do
the will of God. Now when he talks about the will
of God, he's talking about what the Bible says. The revealed
will of God. Now all these fellows in there
that said, oh, wouldn't this man learn all these letters?
They knew the Bible. They knew the Scriptures. They
understood the Scripture. But they didn't know nothing
about the will of God. They didn't know nothing about
Christ coming. They didn't know anything about
that. And he said, if any man will do his will, he shall know the doctrine. Know
of the doctrine. shall know the doctrine whether
it be of God or whether I come up with this myself now he shall
know the doctrine now I'll tell you something beloved we can
be certain as to the things of God we can be absolutely certain
as to the things of God how can we be certain here in black and
white here in black and white, he can be certain as to the shall
know, he says shall know the doctrine. If a man wills to know
the doctrine of God, if a man wills to know what God says,
if a man wills to know what Christ is and who he is and what he
did and what he came to do, he can know that. He can know that. If you desire spiritual knowledge,
willing to obey His revealed will. And this is a hard issue,
knowing the will of God. Obeying the will of God. Coming
to Christ. This is a hard issue. We know
where He will and where the will and the desire comes from. And
our Lord Jesus Christ said, you can know. You'll know the doctrine. If you know the will of God,
you know the doctrine of God. What is the will of Him that
sent me? That everyone that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him,
hath everlasting life. This is the will of Him that
sent me, that I should lay down my life for the sheep. No man
takes my life from me, but I've got the power to lay it down,
and I've got the power to take it up again. My Father, I come to do your
will. If it means that I have to drink
this cup, I'll drink it. And I'll tell you, this word
rebuked him. And what he's saying is, you don't know the will of
God. And not only you don't know the will of God, but you won't
do the will of God. He said, you will not come to
me that you might have life. You can't possibly know the doctrine
of God. That's what our Lord Jesus Christ
is telling us. You don't know the will of God
and you ain't going to do the will of God. If you knew the
will of God, if you knew the doctrine of God, you'd know whether
it come from me or whether it come from glory. And there's
three things here that he's talking about. Knowledge, we should know.
Know. Know. God don't save people and
leave them in ignorance. I'm telling you, he does not
do that. That's what the gospel's for. is to teach people and instruct
people and knowledge. You've got to know some things.
Do you know yourself to be a sinner? I mean, really know yourself
to be a sinner? If you know yourself to be a
sinner, do you know that there's only one Savior? Do you know
that you're black and your heart's black and there ain't but one
thing to be done to get your heart white and that's for Christ
to take it out and put a new one in and wash it in His blood? Do you know what it's like to
be born again and have a new nature? Do you know what it's
like to be given faith? To be given faith to look at
Christ alone and Him alone and trust Him alone and never, ever,
ever look to anything or anyone else? Do you know what it's like to
desire Christ all the days of your life from the first time
you see Him and know Him? That's what He's saying here. Knowledge and then it's to the
heart. It's a heart issue And then obedience
do the will of God faith works by love now look what else he
goes on to say In verse 18. I've taken too long here Verse
18 he that speaketh of himself What is he talking about now?
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory He that comes up
with his own message. I He that comes from his flesh,
he that comes from his own mind, that he comes up with something
himself. His message originates with himself. And what our Lord is saying here
is a man who expresses his own views and his own opinions and
his own interpretation of things is seeking his own glory. He
does that so he can get the glory. And these Jews sought their own
glory. They sat in Moses' seat. Look
what our Master said over here in verse 48 of John 7. They sat
in Moses' seat. Have any of the rulers or the
Pharisees believed on him? That's the first thing they ask.
Oh my, ain't none of us anybody that's anybody don't believe
on him. But look what they said, this people who knoweth not the
law are cursed. I tell you what, you know what
curses you? Trying to be saved by the law. Curses everyone who
continues not in all things. But he says, he that speaketh
of himself comes up with his own doctrine, comes up with his
own view. Say, I know the Bible says that
but. I know the Bible teaches grace
but. I know the Bible teaches that
salvation is by grace but. Salvation is by Christ but. Whenever
you put a but on anything, and I tell you the only people that
holler but is goats. Sheep don't say go. They don't
say but. They don't put no buts on anything
but the Word of God. Men will say, I know that God
is sovereign but... A preacher one time said, I know
that God is sovereign. He told me to my face that I
know God is sovereign but also man is responsible. I said, the
only way in the world a man will ever be responsible is for God
in His sovereign grace to make him responsible. And then when
he teaches him that, that Christ is the one responsible for him
from the day he was born till the day he dies. Christ is responsible
for his sheep. And if you ever responsible for
yourself, do you know what will happen to you? But if Christ is responsible
for you, my sheep hear my voice. I give unto my sheep life. They
shall never perish. There ain't nobody going to pluck
them out of my hand. I'd rather be in His hands and
be responsible any day. I'll tell you what, when I've
done what I... This is awful. But you know,
everybody says, well, I tell you we've got to be responsible.
Well, I'm responsible. I'm responsible to preach the
gospel. I'm responsible for a congregation. I'm responsible as a husband.
I'm responsible as a pastor. I'm responsible as a father.
I'm responsible as a grandfather. I'm responsible as a brother. But where in the world do I get
the will and the desire to do all those things and seek to
do them for the glory of God? In Christ. And oh my, the one who seeks
God's glory, look what it says here, but he that seeketh his
own glory, that sin him, the same is true. You seek the glory
of God, the same is true, and there's no unrighteousness in
it. The same is true, he's genuine, no unrighteousness in it. That's
why Paul said, we preach not ourselves. We don't preach ourselves,
but we preach Christ Jesus the Lord. and ourselves your service
for Christ's sake. And when he said there's no unrighteousness
in him, there's no deceit in him. But they were the deceitful
ones. And that's what our Lord says
next. Look how deceitful you are. Did not Moses give you the
law? And yet none of you keeps the
law. Why go you about to kill me? Oh my. Why go you about to kill me? Remember it says you know that
the first verse here that you sought to kill him. If you say I'm unlettered, that
I have no education. You have the letter. You have
the education. You've got the letter. You've
got the law. You've got Moses. You've got the law. And yet you don't keep it. You
know what the law summed up in one word? Love. Love. Our Lord, the man asked our Lord
said, what's the great commandment in the law? He says, love God
and love your neighbors as yourself. Love. And yet here they have
hatred in their hearts. Look at John 5.45 over here.
Look what our Master said about it. no unrighteousness in me but
there's nothing but unrighteousness in you and why go you about to
kill me that's what he said now he talked about you know Moses
gave you the law and you don't keep it he said John 5 45 do
not think that I will accuse you to the father I don't have
to there is one that accuses you even Moses Now this is a
quickie day in whom you trust. Don't trust God. Don't trust
Christ. Trust Moses. Trust Moses. Huh? Why didn't any back over
here, he says in verse 19, why go you about to kill me? Why
do you do that? If a man's heart isn't for the
truth, our Lord said, anybody's not for me is against me. And
then look what he said in verse 20. The people answered said,
thou hast a devil. Who goes about to kill you? Oh
my. The people he's teaching to have
said, well, you've got a devil. See these people that came up
to Jerusalem for the feast. Many of them, many of them were
ignorant of the leader's purpose and the Jews purpose towards
Christ. They didn't know that they were
going to fix to kill the Lord Jesus Christ. And what they said
was, you're insane, you got a devil, you got a demon. They think somebody's
going about to kill you. What blasphemy! What blindness
to His glory! What deafness to His word! And
then our Lord said in verse 21, Our Lord answered and said, I
have done one work, one work, and you marvel. You know what
the work that He did? That's when He healed that Impotent
man at the pool. I've done one work and you marvel
He ignored the charge of the people call him a demon and he
continued to address the Jews The scripture said in him was
no guile and no sin Being reviled he reviled not again. I He just
kept on preaching and teaching. And look what our master said,
healing that infant man on the Sabbath. That's what he's talking
about. When he healed that man on the Sabbath, that just absolutely
upset the Jews to no end. Oh my, done something on the
Sabbath. Done something on the Sabbath and we're supposed to
keep the Sabbath holy. And I'll tell you what, now Lord
Jesus says, Moses, and he goes on down there to say, Moses there
gave unto you circumcision. Because Moses didn't give it
to you, it was other fathers. God gave it to Abraham 400 years
before the law. And you on the Sabbath day, you'll
circumcise a man. You'll take a man's heart and
to fulfill the law, you'll circumcise him on the Sabbath day. And if a man on the Sabbath day
receives circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken,
are you angry at me? Are you mad at me, angry at me,
and hate me because I made a man ever withhold on the Sabbath
day? Huh? Oh my! You want to kill me for
healing on the Sabbath day? Yes, you work on the Sabbath
day. You circumcise a man on the Sabbath day. And then our
Lord said in verse 24, Judge not according to the appearance. Oh boy! That's a mouthful, ain't
it? Judge not according to appearance.
Hard not to, ain't it? Hard not to. But he said, judge
of righteous judgment. I've heard it said this, don't
believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see. Don't believe anything you hear
and only half of what you see. You might see a person coming
out of some place and you say, oh my goodness, what are they
doing in there? You don't know why they are in
there. They might have went in to get somebody out. They might
have went in there to tell somebody something. You don't know why.
But people say, oh my goodness, did you see where he come from?
And oh my. Then look at the questions
here. They have done the same, same
thing. You know, they wanted to know some things about him.
And then says some of them of Jerusalem, those that lived in
Jerusalem, People that knew what was going on. Is this not He
whom they seek to kill? They got discussions about Him. Oh, they know the leaders. Is
not this the one? Is this the one that they're
seeking to kill? The one that they're marveling
at? The one that just told them about Moses? Moses gave you circumcision.
But you circumcise on the Sabbath. He exposes their false refuge. Against them. Their false notions. And then down there they said,
oh listen. Do they really know this is the
very Christ? Look what he said in verse 26.
But oh listen, he speaks boldly. Confidently. He's without fear. Without favor. And they don't
say nothing to him. They don't stop him. They don't
tell him to shut up. They don't stop him and say,
no listen, you're teaching the wrong things here. Do the rulers
know indeed that this is the very Christ? Do they know that
this is really the Lord Jesus Christ? Do they know this is
the very Christ? And look what they said, we know,
how be it we know this man from where he's from? We know where
he's from. We know he's from Galilee. We
know where he lived in Nazareth. We know where this man came from.
We know his mother, we know his father, we know his brothers.
But when Christ cometh, nobody will know where he come from.
Nobody knows where he lives at and where he comes from in this
world. You know, they had a superstition
that he had suddenly appeared by supernatural birth. And then
look what our master said. Our Lord Jesus cried in the temple
as he taught. He knows what these people are
saying. He said, you both know me. And you know where I am. You
know where I come from. You know where I come from. And
you know that I'm not coming myself. I didn't come into this
world by myself. My father sent me. I was a lamb
slain from the foundation of the world. The father sent me
is true. Now here's the one you don't
know anything about. You know that I'm Jesus. You
know that I'm the Christ. You know where I'm from. You
know. And then, oh my. But he said, but I know him.
Our Lord said, but I know him. I know my father. I know God. I know my father. I address my
father. For I am from him and he hath
sent me. And his presence hath sent me.
Then look what he said. Then, in verse 30, then they
sought to take him. Then they said, we got to get
this man. We've got to get this man. We've got to stop this man.
We've got to stop his teaching. We've got to stop him and everything
about him. We've got to stop him. But no
man laid hands on him. Why? Because it wasn't his hour.
It wasn't his time. It wasn't right. Oh my. His hour is several days away. Weeks away. And oh my. It was impossible for them to
take him until it was time for him to be taken. And then look
what he said in verse 31, and I'm done. And many other people
believed on him. Many of the people believed on
him, and listen to this, and said, When Christ cometh, will
he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? Now,
they didn't believe on him because he was the Christ. They didn't
believe on him because he was the Lord Jesus. They didn't believe
on him as a Savior. They believed on him as a Messiah,
a political Messiah, a leader come to set them free. That's
why I said, When Christ comes, will he do anything more than
this man hath done? They didn't call him master.
A leader to set them free from wrong. That's what they think
about. And when Christ comes, will he do any more miracles
than this fellow has? They ain't seen nothing yet.
You know the doctrine? If you know the doctrine, you
know Christ. If you don't know Him, you don't know nothing.
Ain't that right?
