Severely tried Joseph. Oh my,
he was tried. The only person tried more than
Jacob, of course, I mean Joseph, was our Lord Jesus Christ. That's
why he's such a type of our Lord Jesus Christ. And there's several
parallels, of course. He's in prison. He's in prison. He went there not because of
any fault of his own. But he ended up in Egypt because
his brethren hated him. Oh, how they hated him. Because
he told them one day they was all going to bow down before
him. And if his own mother and dad would bow down before him.
And then Potiphar's wife lied on him. And so they put him in
prison. And then when he was in prison,
that butler got restored back to his former place. And he says,
oh, when you go back before Pharaoh, show me kindness. And please,
please tell Pharaoh about me down here. Please show me kindness. Now there's two views in which
we can view our trials. Two views, our trials from two
standpoints. We can view it from the human
side. We can view it from the human side. Joseph's suffering
was because of Potiphar's wife, the ingratitude of the butler,
and because of his brethren that hated him. That's the human side. He could have looked at it like
that. Oh, I've been so mistreated. Potiphar's wife lied on me. The
butlers, he forgot about me. Forgot about anything that I
ever said or done. And he could have done that.
Or he could look at it from the spiritual side. He could look
at it as these things come from God. The Lord has sent him into
Egypt. He was being trained, he was
being prepared for the great work that God had before him
to do. And how we look at our trials
will make all the difference in the world and how we act and
how we react to our trials. One creates turmoil. When you
look at it strictly from a human standpoint, you're going to be
bitter, despair, troubled, turmoil in your heart and soul. But if
you look at it as this comes from the hand of God, This is
from my father's hand. These are things that my father
gave to me. And he will never go anywhere
where he does not go with me or hasn't been before me. You
can look at it like that, and that will bring peace no matter
what's going on. That will bring peace. And the
king of Egypt here dreamed two dreams. Two dreams. And the magicians and the wise
men of Egypt, they couldn't help him. They couldn't help him.
And so when Chief Butler heard of these dreams, he remembered
his experience down there in prison. And he told him there's
a Hebrew slave down there that told him his future and exactly
what was going to happen to him and what was going to happen
to Chief Baker. And it happened just like Joseph said it would.
So Pharaoh sends for Joseph and explains his dreams to him. Thirteen
years has passed since Joseph went into Egypt. He'd been in
prison for over two years. Been in prison for over two years.
And here's someone who'll just give you some things. Some things
here, it's very obvious. First thing is, the Pharaoh's
the king, but the king's heart is in the hand of the Lord as
the rivers of water, and he turneth it wheresoever he will. And so
I'll tell you why. It was no accident that Pharaoh
dreamed a dream about what he did and when he did. God himself
sent these dreamers. And that's why Joseph said, I
can't interpret it, but God can. And it was God's time. Here's
the way things happen. It was God's time. God's wheels
move very, very slow. But when they start moving, I
tell you what, beloved, they go to moving. And I tell you,
it was God's time for Joseph to be delivered up from prison
and to be exalted and put in a great, glorious, and high position. And that's the way it was with
our Lord Jesus Christ. He was took very, very long.
but he was exalted forever. And I tell you, listen to me
now, the most trivial or the most important, the most likely
or the most unlikely circumstances are made to minister to the unfolding
of God's purpose in this world. That's what Charles H. Macintosh
said. The most trivial or the most
important The most unlikely circumstances are made to minister to the unfolding
of God's purpose. And God's purpose is going to
unfold. And one of these days, His purpose is going to be fulfilled.
And this world is going to burn with a fervent heat. And it's
going to melt. And I tell you, even Satan, as
the king's heart's in the hand of the Lord as the rivers of
water, even Satan is an instrument in God's hands. Even Satan, you
know, he can't do anything till God tells him he can. He can't. And as are the angels and the
principalities and powers. It's like Satan, you know, he
come before the Lord going to and fro on the face of the earth
and God said, who are you looking for? He said, I'm looking for
somebody to devour. God said, if you ever consider
my servant over here Job, he's a perfect and an upright man.
He said, I tell you what you let man, he'll cut you to your
face. God said, okay, you can do that. Second time, yeah, you
can do that. And I tell you all the angels
and principalities, it's like Simon Peter. Everything unfolds
to God's purpose. He told Simon Peter, Satan has
sought to sift you as wheat. And I tell you what, Satan sifted
him too. And I mean really sifted him.
But you know the reason his faith didn't fail? Because our Lord
Jesus Christ said, I prayed for thee that thy faith fell not. And so you see, beloved, whatever's
happening, how big it is, how little it is, whatever happens,
it's unfolding God's purpose. And this king dreamed these dreams
for one reason. So Joseph could be brought up
out of prison. Joseph could be exalted. That's
the only reason. And let me tell you something
else here that we see in these verses that I read. The wisdom
in this world is foolishness with God. The wisdom in this
world is foolishness with God. Here's these wise men and these
magicians and all these Pharaoh's mighty men, the wisest men in
the kingdom, they're standing around, Pharaoh calls them all
in. I done, this is what happened. Now you fellas tell me what's
going on. I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. And I tell
you what, this is the greatest country at this particular time,
it was the greatest country on the face of the earth. and had the wisest men and the
most intelligent men there was there was around the king and
I tell you what they couldn't do one thing in the world for
him and that's the way the wisdom of this world is. What can it
do for us? It's never done nothing for us
and this Israel I mean Egypt is an idolatrous people, heathen
people and Egypt of course is a type of the world but when
it comes to helping Pharaoh There's magicians and wise men are impotent,
impotent. Pharaoh's made to feel the impotency
of all human help. Nobody can help him. And you
know what man's wisdom is at best? You know what it is at
best? Look over in Isaiah 44. Here's man's wisdom at best.
Somebody read this here recently. This is man's wisdom at best. Isaiah 44, look in verse 13.
This is man's wisdom at best. This is the best man can do.
And you see it every day in this world. You see it every day.
This is man's wisdom at his best. The carpenter stretches forth
out his room. He marks it out with a line.
He fits it with planes, planes it off. He marks it out with
the compass. Takes his compass and makes his circles. And making
that after the finger of a man. According to the beauty of a
man. That it may remain in his house.
Oh my. And then he goes out here and
he used him down cedars and takes the cypress and the oak. And
he strengthens it for himself among the trees of the forest.
He plants an ash and the rain doeth burish it. Then it shall
be for a man to burn. For he'll take the oven and warm
himself. Yea, he'll kindle it and bake him bread for himself.
And then he'll turn around and make a god out of the rest of
it. And he'll take the rest of it
and make a graven image and fall down there. Some of it he's going
to heat himself with. Some of it he's going to bake
bread with. But what's left over, he wills him out of God. Wills
him out of God. And he falls down to it. He burns
part of it in the fire. This is man's past at his best.
With part thereof he eateth his flesh. He roasteth the roast
and is satisfied. Yea, he warms himself and says,
Oh, I am warm. I've seen the fire. And with
the rest thereof he maketh a God, even his craven image. He falleth
down unto it and worships it and prayeth unto it and saith,
Deliver me, for thou art my God. You say, people don't do that.
Well, they got crucifixes everywhere. They got stone images everywhere.
And oh, look what he said. And oh, God says this, they have
not known nor understood. Why? Listen to this. You know
why they're like this? They have not known or understood.
For he, God, has shut their eyes that they cannot see, and that
their hearts that they cannot understand. And none considers
in his heart, neither is there knowledge, nor understanding
to say, I've burned part of it in the fire, I've baked some
bread upon the coals thereof, I've roasted some flesh and eaten
it, and I'm going to make the rest of it thereof an abomination.
Shall I fall down to the stalk of a tree? God said he'd done
this to them. He feeds on ashes. A deceived
heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul,
nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? That's man at
his best. That's man at his best. And you
know the greatest God he has that he worships right now? The
greatest God that man worships right now, and I don't mean to
be offensive here, but man's number one God in this age is
his free will. That's the God of his this age.
Man's free will. His power over God. His power
to refuse or accept. His power to tie God's hands. His ability to tell God that
you can't do nothing for me unless I let you. And I heard a famous
man, a famous man say one time, he's found a witness to a man
on television, and he said this, he said, God will not ever go
and invade a man's free will, because if God ever took a man
and overcome his free will, that would be like God raping a man. And that was Huckabee, was the
fellow that said that. Never watched his show ever again.
If God know this, if God don't invade a man's will, he's gonna
perish. Why did God say, you know why
these fellas done that with all that wood? Because God shut their
eyes and blinded their hearts. That's why we're just as idolaters
as they was. But all the wisdom of this world
is foolishness with God. Greatest kingdom on the earth.
Mighty men couldn't do anything to help the king. And I tell
you what, back over here in Genesis, the man of God, that man that
God had there, was the only one that had true wisdom and light. Look what he said in verse 16.
And Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, it's not in me. It's not in me. God shall give Pharaoh an answer
of peace. I tell you, that's what he says.
Not in me. Oh God, it's in you. I can't
teach you anything. It's God that's got to do this.
And what can the best of the world know? And what can that
do? Only the call of God knows exactly
what's going on. You know, it's like Nebuchadnezzar.
This is the way things happened. Nebuchadnezzar, he walked around
there and talked about how great he was. Babylon, this great Babylon
that I've made. God put him out as a beast in
the field. Kept him out there seven years. The men stand up against God. All of their wisdom and all their
glory and all their power has no power. Only God's man has.
The one that God's raised up. And it's like Belshazzar. He
was having a great big feast, drinking out of the Lord's cups.
And a hand come up just out of nowhere. Just a hand. One hand. No arm or nothing. Just a hand. He began to write. And he wrote
on the wall. There's no arm, just a hand.
You can't ride on a wall. You're weighing the balances. And you're found wanting. And
I tell you, the kingdom's gonna be ripped from you. And I tell
you, there was nobody, you know the only person in that kingdom
that could do anything for him was Daniel. It was Daniel. And I tell you, beloved, and
here's what we also know in reading these verses of Scripture. that
all things work together for good. All things work together
for good. Everything that happened to Joseph
happened for his good. Not only his good, but for the
good of everybody in Egypt, and everybody in his own kinfolk,
and his daddy, and his brothers, and everybody else. Everything
that happened to him ended up not only being good for him,
but for good for everybody that he knew and come in contact with. If we can learn by God's grace
to see the whole picture, see the whole picture, not just our
present circumstance. Scott Richardson said this one
time, he said, if we had the power of God, we'd change everything. We'd change everything. But if
we had the wisdom of God, we wouldn't change a thing. Oh my, Joseph suffered for a
while. God, Joseph suffered for a while. And our Lord Jesus Christ suffered
for a while. Suffered at men's hands. Suffered
at Satan's hands. Suffered. But oh beloved, It's
time for Him to be brought up. Time for Him to come up out of
prison. Time for Him to come up. And
God brought Him up. And God brought Him out. And
God brought Him out of prison. God brought Him up. And that's
why the scripture says, Let patience have her perfect work. Weeping
may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Now let's
look at some Joseph in due time as he was delivered from prison. Let's say a few things about
that. When he was in prison and he was delivered from it, he
was there by no fault of his own. Not any fault of his own. It's time for him to leave that
dungeon. And before this is over, he's
going to ascend to a throne. He's going to send him to the
throne. Look what it says there in verse 14. Oh my, call him
up out of prison. Then Pharaoh's sin called Joseph
and they brought him up. Brought him hastily out of the
dungeon. And he came into Pharaoh's presence. And I, Lord Jesus Christ,
you know what? This is what those Jews, they
couldn't stand to hear. Peter and John and them said,
we know, we know that you crucified the Lord of glory. We know you
crucified Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God. But he
said, I tell you what, God didn't leave him dead. God raised him
from the dead, and not only didn't raise him from the dead, but
set him at his own right hand. And boy, when they heard that,
oh my, we're not dealing with a dead man. No, you're dealing
with a living man. He was dead, but now he lives.
Joseph was in prison through no fault of his own, but up he
went. Christ went to the cross, not for anything he did, but
for everything you and I did. And Joseph was delivered from
prison by the hand of God. Look over here in chapter 45
in verse 7. He was delivered from prison
by the hand of God. Pharaoh thought he done it. Pharaoh
thought he did it. Look what happened here. In verse 7. This is what he said
now. That's what I'm talking about.
God sent me before you to preserve your posterity in the earth,
and to save your lives by great deliverance. So now it was not
you that brought me hither, or sent me here, but God, and hath
made me a father to Pharaoh, Lord of all of his house. and
a ruler of all things throughout the land of Egypt. Haste ye and
go up to my father and say unto him, thus saith thy son Joseph,
God hath made me Lord of all things. Egypt, come down and
tarry unto me. But he said, God did this. God
did this. God sent me here. God brought
me up. God put me on the throne. And
God raised up our Lord Jesus Christ, having loosed the pains
of death. Not possible that it should hold.
And Joseph now is seen as the revealer of secrets. The revealer
of secrets. Joseph, Pharaoh told Joseph his
dreams. Fat cattle, skinny cattle. The skinny cattle ate up all
the fat cattle. great big ears of corn and then
a little bitty wasted ears of corn. The little bitty miserable
looking corn ate up the big heavy great big eared corn. Pharaoh told him his dreams and
the wise men were under hell. unable to help. And I'll tell
you something, beloved. Somebody had to tell us what
God's will was. We didn't know. Somebody had
to tell us about the gospel. Somebody had to come and tell
us what God's word has to say. And under the Lord, the scriptures
tells us, under the Lord, behold the secret things. And Joseph
said, it's not in me. And ain't that what our Lord
Jesus Christ said? He said, the words that I speak,
they're not mine, but His has sent me. That's what he said. He said, you know, he said, everything
that I say, I speak what my father commanded. And God showed Pharaoh,
look what Joseph says here now. I think down here in verse 25,
look what it says here. And Joseph said unto Pharaoh,
the dream of Pharaoh is won. Listen to this, God has showed
Pharaoh what he's about to do. Pharaoh didn't know what was
going to happen, but God did. And he had somebody that would
tell him, someone to tell him all about it. And God, you know
who he used to tell us? Revelations 1 says this, this
is the revelation of Jesus Christ who came, who was sent to reveal
and to make known the will and the word of God. And he has showed
his servant, John, the things that must surely come to pass.
So, beloved, we know what's happening. We know what's going to happen.
We've read the back of the book. We know how this thing's going
to end. I know how it's going to end. I read a lot of books
and I don't know how they're going to end. Sometimes I figure
it out before I get to the end, but most of the time I don't.
And I tell you what, I know the back of what this book says.
I know the back of the book. I know what it says. I know how it's going to end
up. I know how it's going to end up. And guess what? You know
how it's going to end up? All of us are going to be with
the Lord and the Lord's going to... You know they talk about
the Lord's going to sneak here and rapture his church out and
the rest of them's got to stay here and go through a tribulation
period and all that. Nope, nope, there's going to
be one judgment. General judgment. God's going to take all the world
at one time. He's going to judge the world.
Sheep He's going to put over here. Goats He's going to put
over here. And they're going to go into
everlasting perdition. These here are going to go into
everlasting life and spend eternity with Christ. And then this earth
as we see it now, God said He'll burn it and melt it with a fervent
heat. And then He's going to make a
new heaven and a new earth And there ain't nobody but righteous
people going to live in it. There ain't going to be no sin. That's the back of the book. Oh my. He said even if we're
in the grave, we're going to come out for that judgment. And
every man is going to be judged according to his works. And we're
going to be judged according to our works. And you know what? Everyone who
is saved by the grace of God and by the work of Christ, every
single one of them is going to say, He did it. He did it all. All to Him I owe. And the rest
of them are going to stand over there and say, wait a minute,
wait a minute, wait a minute. And God doesn't have to say a
word. He doesn't have to say a word. Because when He stands
before him and His eyes, the scripture says they are like
a flame of fire. And when he looks into a man's
eye, all he's got to do is look at the man. And the man knows
it, God knows it. That's all it'll take. And they's
over here, their heads are going down. He's over here, boy. We've read the back of the book. And that's what Joseph's telling
the Pharaoh said Pharaoh God showed you what he's gonna do
God showed us what he's gonna do God showed us what he did
do for us in the Lord Jesus Christ God showed forth what he did
do he purposed to do it for the world again. Did it come to pass? Yes, it did. Is he still gonna
save his sheep? Yes, he is. Is he still gonna
take us to glory? Yes, he is. God has showed us
what he's gonna do Huh? Oh, listen. And then Joseph, he warned of
coming danger. Look what he said. And he told
them how to prepare for it. Look here in verse 29. Behold, there come seven years
of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt. And there
shall arise after them seven years of famine. And all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine
shall consume the land. People starved to death. And
the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that
famine followed. For it shall indeed be very,
very grievous. And for that the dream was doubled
unto Pharaoh, Twice is because the thing is established by God
and God will surely bring it to pass. Now therefore let Pharaoh
look out a man discreet and wise and set him over all the land. He told him, oh my goodness,
so it's going to be some danger. Then he told him how to prepare
for it. and said, Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint
officers over the land, take up the fifth part of the land
of Egypt in the seven plenteous years, and let them gather all
the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under
the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep them food in the cities.
And that food shall be restored to the land against the seven
years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt, that
the land perish not through the famine. Now here's Joseph, he
comes along and he warns of great danger. And you know what our
Lord Jesus Christ said about people? He said, except you believe
that I am, you'll die in your sins. That's a terrible thing
to think about. He said, except you believe I
am, you'll die in your sins. And then he turns around and
says this, He said, He that cometh to me, I will know why it is
cast him out. And he says this, this is the will of him that
sent me, that everyone will see that the Son hath everlasting
life. So our Lord Jesus Christ, and
that is what Joseph did, he told them, oh listen, this is danger
coming. But this is how you prepare for
it. Our Lord said, danger is coming. But there is a way out. Danger is coming. But I'm the
Savior. Danger's coming. Hide in me. We sung that song tonight. Jesus,
lover of us, so let me hide myself in thee. Oh, let me hide from judgment
in Christ. Let me hide from the wrath of
God in Christ. Let me hide from my sins in Christ. Let me hide from my self-righteousness
in Christ. Let me hide my pride in Christ. Let me hide from my wickedness
in Christ. Oh, hide me! Oh, my Savior, hide
me! And our Lord Jesus Christ, He'll
tell a man flat-footed, square in the eye, this is what's happened
to you if you don't come to Me. But if you come to Me, you'll
have life, everlasting life, eternal life. You'll have salvation. You'll have acceptance with God.
See, old Joseph wasn't a mealy-mouthed optimist. He didn't come up to
Pharaoh and say, listen, God's got a wonderful plan for Egypt
and a wonderful plan for your life, Pharaoh. He just looked
at him and said, something's good gonna happen to you, Pharaoh.
No, no, he told him the truth. He said, dude, we're gonna have
seven years of plenty, seven years of famine, and this is
how to save yourself from this famine. that the whole country
don't perish. And you know what, I'll tell
you something else, not only did our Lord warn us, but you know
what else He let us see? He let us see what it's like
in hell. Our Lord Jesus Christ let us see what it's like in
hell. There was a rich man, buried
sumptuously every day. And there was a beggar set at
his gate, named Lazarus. And Lazarus was so miserable
and so, his body was so corrupt that the dogs, he had sores on
him and the dogs would come up and lick his sores. But that
rich man would go by him with his chariot and his coach and
walk right on by. One day, that rich man ended
up in hell. and Lazarus ended up in Abraham's
bosom a third glory and our Lord says that rich man said oh would you let Lazarus
he didn't give Lazarus a time of day didn't give Lazarus a
time of day but he said would you let Lazarus dip his finger
in some water, and let him just give me one drop on my parched
tongue. So our Lord Jesus Christ, He
warned us of the danger to come, and then He told us how to get out from under the
danger. And that's what I try to do. I try to warn folks. And
I tell you what, and then Joseph, listen, I've got to hurry on.
Joseph is seen as a wonderful counselor. Look what it says
in verse 37, there's a wonderful counselor like our Lord Jesus
Christ, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the counselor, the wonderful
counselor. And it said here, in interpreting
the dream, the meaning Joseph gave the wise counsel and the
thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all
of his servants. Oh my, you're a wise man. And Pharaoh said unto his servant,
can we find such a one as this, a man in whom the Spirit of God
is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph,
for as much as God hath showed thee all this, there is none
so discreet and wise as you are. Oh my, they said, boy Joseph,
you're wise. And you know, our Lord Jesus
Christ is known as the wisdom of God. The treasures of wisdom
and knowledge dwell in our Lord Jesus Christ. God said he counted
the fools of men wise and he said you want to know where wisdom
is? Wisdom is in my blessed son. You know where power is at? It's
in my blessed son. And all Joseph they said what
a wonderful counselor and our Lord Jesus Christ God's wonderful
and blessed counselor and then look what happens here to Joseph. He's exalted and sent over all
Egypt And so in verse 39 and Pharaoh said unto Joseph for
as much as God has showed thee all this There's none so discreet and
wise as you are Then look what he says to him. He said, you're
going to be over my house and according unto thy word shall
all my people be ruled only in the throne will I be greater
than you. And our Lord Jesus Christ, God
set him at his own right hand. God set him at his own right
hand with majesty and glory. But here's Joseph. He comes from
shame to glory from prison in a day now in a day from prison
and before the days out he's exalted to a throne from being
a slave to being a rule over all and our Lord Jesus Christ
said God had given me power over all the flesh over everything
in this world And Joseph was exalted to the throne because
of his personal worth. Now listen to this. Because of
his personal worth. Look in verse 38. He said, Oh,
can we find such a one as this, a man in whom the Spirit of God
is? He told him down in verse 41. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph,
See, I set thee over all the land of Egypt. Oh, he saw all
the wisdom that Joseph had and God was with him. But our Lord
Jesus Christ, the Scriptures tells us that He was found in
fashion as a man. That He took upon Himself the
form of a servant and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross were for God. Highly exalted Him. and gave him a name that's above
every name. Oh, gave him a name that's above
every name. And like old Pharaoh said here,
everybody's going to do what you say. And he says, thou giving
him a name above every name. And one of these days, every
knee's going to bow, every tongue's going to confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. And then Joseph was
dressed for his new position. Look down at verse 42. Oh my. Pharaoh took off his ring
from his hand and put it upon Joseph's hand and arrayed him
in vestures of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. Oh my, if you're going to be
the ruler, you've got to be dressed like the ruler. You've got to
be dressed like, and he dressed him, oh my goodness. Put new
clothes on him. Put the Pharaoh's ring on his
hand. Put a gold chain around his neck. And oh, our Lord Jesus
Christ. What did it say about our Lord
Jesus Christ? Looking unto Jesus. That our
Lord Jesus Christ, you know, that we see Jesus made a little
lower than the angels, but made higher than the heavens. I want
you to see Revelations 1.13. Look at Revelations 1.13. See
what about our Lord? And don't we get dressed? Our
Lord Jesus Christ dressed us. Dressed us. But Joseph was dressed
for his new position as the ruler. As the prime minister, as the
one who's going to run the agent. But look what it says here about
our Lord Jesus Christ. And in the midst of the seven
candlesticks, one like unto the Son of Man. Listen to this now.
Clothed with a garment down to the foot, and had a girdle around
his chest, a golden girl. His head and his hair were white
as wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were a flame of fire.
And so you see, our Lord Jesus Christ, he's dressed. He's dressed
for his position. Dressed as the one who's got
the right to sit in God's right hand. And our Lord Jesus Christ
dressed us for our position as children of God. And let me show
you this. Back over here in verse 43. Joseph's
authority and glory are publicly owned. Everybody's got to own
this. Everybody's got to see it. Everybody's got to bow. Look
what he said in verse 43. And he made him to ride in the
second chariot which he had. And they cried before him, bow
the knee, bow the knee. And he made him ruler over all
the land of Egypt. Everybody's got to find out that
Joseph is one going to be power here. And he made it right through
there. And everybody's all, bow the knee, bow the knee, bow the
knee. Publicly proclaimed him. And
that's what we do in ourselves. We say, bow the knee to the Lord
Jesus Christ. On the day of Pentecost, Peter
preached and said, this same Jesus whom you crucified, God
has made Him both Lord and Christ. And you know what they said?
They were pricked in their heart. They said, men and brethren,
what shall we do? And I tell you, beloved, when
I, Lord Jesus Christ, is on publicly, confessed publicly, and God set
him forth publicly for everybody to see who he is. And here's
the last thing. Joseph received a new name from
Pharaoh. Look in verse 45, received a
new name. And Pharaoh called Joseph's name
Zaphnapaniah. And he gave him to wife Asheneth,
the daughter of Potiphar, a priest of own. And Joseph went out over
all the land of Egypt. But he gave him a new name. Gave
him a new name. And that name was, you know,
a revealer of secrets. And our Lord Jesus Christ, God
gave him a name. Before he was ever born, he told
his mother and daddy, he said, you know what you're going to
call him? You're going to call him Jesus. You know what Jesus
means? Savior. Jehovah's Savior. And
I tell you what, he is made Savior of the world. And our Lord's
name on earth was the pledge and promise of salvation. This is what God said about him
before he was ever born. He told Mary and Joseph, you
shall call His name Jesus. For He shall. This is before
you ever got here. For He shall save His people. I like that, His people. Shall
save His people from their sin. And just the fact of His name
tells that He's going to do what His name says He is. Jehovah's
Savior. He's going to save us. And God
has exalted his name as they exalted Joseph and made him over
everybody and gave him that new name. God gave Christ our Lord
his name. And gave him appropriate name.
God gave the name thy Lord Jesus Christ. And God has exalted his
name above all else. And you know what God said about
him? He said this is the only Savior. This is the only Savior
in this world. This is the only Savior there
is in this world. And old Simeon, Ruby and I are
sitting there talking about it today. Old Simeon was an old
man. An old man. And he wanted to
go to be with the Lord. But I tell you, he went in that
temple that day and that baby was in there to be circumcised
and to be dedicated to the Lord, being the firstborn. And he walked
in there and picked up that baby, held it in his arms, looked at
it in the face, and he lifted up his eyes and he said, Lord,
let now thy servant depart in peace. Why? For my eyes, my eyes
have seen your salvation. And I tell you, I'm ready to
go now. And I tell you, when you see that salvation that God
has, you're ready to go. But until you see that, you don't
want to go. I tell you what, we have seen
the salvation of the Lord. He was a Savior. before he was
born. He was a Savior when he was an
infant. He was a Savior when he was 12.
He was a Savior when he was 30. He's a Savior, now God's right
here. He was a Savior before he ever
come into this world. He's a Savior. He's a just God
and a Savior. And God said this is the only
Savior. I told you this morning about people saying we're bigots.
And our Lord Jesus Christ is the only Savior. He was shamed
just like Joseph was. He was shamed and mocked even
in his dying hour. But God said, listen, I've got
a place for you. I've got a place for you to sit.
I've got a place for you to sit. I've got a place for you to sit.
And I want you to come up here where I am. I want you to come up here where
I am. And there's a throne right here.
And I want you to sit right there. And I'm going to sit here on
my throne. You're going to sit right there. And you're going
to do everything in this world that needs to be done sitting
right there on your throne. What's God doing? Whatever He
wants to. Who does He do it through? The
Lord Jesus Christ. And you know what? When we get
there, we're going to see a man, Christ Jesus, the Lord of Glory,
but He'll still be a man. Oh, my. Our Savior, oh, our blessed,
blessed Savior, how glorious and holy and righteous is your
name. Oh, we bless you for allowing us to meet here again today.
for your great and abundant mercy given to us in Christ. Lord,
we seek to honor you, we really truly do. And Lord, I know, I know, I know,
we can't think of you high enough, can't speak of you well enough,
can't love you enough, but oh Lord, it's in our hearts to seek,
to try, to do it, And Lord, when we fail, we want to get up and
try it again. So Lord, bless this word to the
saints of God's hearts. Thank you for their attention
that they listen to the gospel and for their great grace that
you give them to listen to such a weak, weak vessel. Thank you,
Lord Jesus, for the grace you've given and given us together. We bless you and praise you in
Christ's name. Amen. Amen. There's a chorus I want
us to sing in the chorus book. Let me find it here real quick. I tried to sing it here the other
day in the chorus book. It's E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E. Every hour, right here on the
very back page, right here on the very back page, every hour,
Let's stand together. We haven't sung that in a long
time. We need to get back to being with these choruses. We
haven't sung them in a long time. You all remember this, don't
you? We tried it the other day. Most of you remember it anyway.
Every hour of every day. Every moment and in every way
I'm leaning on Jesus. One more time. And in every way I'm leaning
on Jesus He's the rock of my soul I'm singing His praises
wherever
