God makes much out of His own
name, and especially the name of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Makes much out of His name. I
don't know, just in this particular chapter from verse 1 down to
verse 18, his name is mentioned five times. The name is mentioned
five times. And I know this, it says down
in verse 14, excuse me, verse 12, I'm sorry. He said, there is salvation Neither
is there salvation in the other, for there's none other name under
heaven. Wherever you go, there's a heaven.
No matter what part of this planet you're on, there's a heaven.
And God said, wherever you go in this world, there's no other
name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved no other
name and Paul and Peter and everybody in the scriptures God himself
made much of the name of his blessed son the Lord in fact
he said he gave him a name that's above every name and one of these
days God's gonna make every knee bow and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord. He's going to make people that
hate His name, ridicule His name, despise His name, use His name
as a byword and a cuss word. He's even going to make them
bow down and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to God's blessed
glory. He's going to do it. He's going
to do it. But let's go through these verses
together Now the first miracle that they recorded here in Acts,
back over here in chapter 3, when they came up to the temple
to pray at the ninth hour, three o'clock in the afternoon, there
was a man that was laying there, remember, at the gate, beautiful?
And he was begging, he was a beggar. And Peter and John said, we ain't
got nothing to give you. Absolutely have no money. We
have no money. But he said, I'll tell you what
I have. He said, I've got the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And ain't that what he said in verse 6? Such as I have, give
I thee. In the name, there goes that
name again. In the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the hand,
by the right hand, lifted. up and immediately his feet and
ankle bones received strength and he leaping up stood and walked
and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and
praising God. That's the first miracle recorded
in the book of Acts. And you'd think, boy, folks are
going to be happy, they're going to rejoice, that God's still
working, God's performing miracles, and people are walking who never
walk, people are being raised from the dead. And it says in
one place that the shadow of Peter, they just laid people
in the streets, that the shadow of Peter just might go over them
and they'd be healed. But instead of people being happy
and rejoicing over them, There were enemies, and look what it
says there in verse 1 here in our text. And they spake unto
the people, they're standing there preaching to the people.
Talking to the people. And while they've done that,
it's getting late on up in the day, remember this starts at
3 o'clock in the afternoon. That's when this happened, they're
going up at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. They've been talking
for quite a while and it's getting late. And it says, and they spake
unto the people, the priests, and the captains, and the Sadducees,
and it came upon them. It came upon them. And it's amazing to me that the
miracles of our Lord and His apostles caused so much hatred
and opposition. For us, it's a cause of joy,
thanksgiving, worship, and praise. That's what the man who happened
to have, that's what he did, and everybody else did. And everything,
I'll tell you something, everything about true religion, everything
about it, is supernatural. It's a supernatural act. And
it comes from above. It comes unsought, it comes unasked. From the revelation, until our
regeneration, till our being taken home to glory, everything
about our religion is supernatural. Supernatural. It's a supernatural
power, it's a supernatural force, it's the God Himself that works
wonders, that works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure. He has to come and reveal Himself
to us, regenerate us, and carry us, or we'll not get to glory. Because He's going to get all
the glory. But anyway, as they spake unto
the people, they were arrested. Arrested! I told you a while
back, we may see the day when they arrest us. I mean, with
the way the political world, the winds are blowing right now.
I tell you what, when you got people that empower, and we'll
see that here, empower, they may come to you and you start
preaching against homosexuality. Men marrying men, women marrying
men, women marrying women. And you start preaching against
those things and they're going to pass laws where it's against
the law to even say or speak against things like that. They've already started making
people go to re-education camps who even won't have anything
to do with it. You're going to go to re-education.
They ain't going to re-educate me. No, no. But anyway, here
they come and arrested these people. And they're speaking
unto the people, talking, gave this opportunity to preach the
gospel. And as they speak unto the people, the priest, captain
of the temple, that's the ruler, and the Sadducees came upon them.
And oh, listen, there was about 5,000, 3,100 or 3,000 people
believed at one time. And then it says there in verse
4, how many of them which heard the word believed in the number
of the men was about 5,000 there in chapter 4. So there were just
a few leaders over this great group of believers. And none
of them had much experience. I mean, you know, they hadn't
been preaching very long. They traveled with the Lord Jesus.
Peter was out there preaching by himself, him and John. A small, small group of people
compared to the amount of the Jewish people. Amount of the
mob that gathered around the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But all the powers that be came against this little group of
people. And they started with the apostles, they started with
the preachers. And look while we go down through
here and look what it says. You know how many people's involved
in this? Look down here in verse 6. How many people's involved in
this? It says, Annas the high priest, Canthas, John, Alexander,
and as many as their kindred of the high priest were gathered
together at Jerusalem. First of all you have the priest
and the captains of the temple, the Sadducees. Sadducees didn't
believe in a resurrection. And in verse 5 it talked about
the rulers, the elders and the scribes. Alexander, kindred of
the Most High. So you got a whole group of people. Rulers, priests, elders, scribes. A whole bunch of them. Everybody
was kindred to the high priest. They decided, well, he's got
all the power, so we're going to stand around close to him.
And why were these princes of the world who crucified the Lord
of glory, why were they so upset? Why were they so dead set against
these Peter, James, and John? That's who was doing the preaching.
Three of them. And look what, what were they so upset about?
What were they so upset about? And it said in verse 2, being
grieved. Being grieved. That means highly,
highly, highly incensed. Grieved to the point that they
were angry. And you know what upset them?
That they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection
from the dead. They didn't like that. You know
why they didn't like it? Because they were guilty of crucifying
the Lord Jesus Christ. Now you keep this and look over
in Matthew 27 with me, just a minute. Matthew 27. They preached through
Jesus the resurrection of the dead. Now look here in Matthew
27, 62. Oh, they, these princes of the
world, that's what they're called, princes of the world. Now the next day, Matthew 27,
16, now the next day that followed the day of the preparation, the
chief priests and Pharisees came together under Pilate, saying,
Sir, now this Christ done been crucified and buried now. Saying,
Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, While he was yet alive,
after three days I will rise again. They remembered that.
They know exactly what our Lord was preaching. They know exactly
what he said. They knew exactly what he claimed
to be. He said he's going to rise again
the third day. They called him a deceiver. Command
therefore that his grave be made sure under the third day. lest
his disciples come by night and steal him away, and say unto
the people, He is risen from the dead." They think everybody's
like them. Since we're liars, and we're
deceivers, and we're manipulators, and we hate him, well, everybody
else is like us, so they'll sneak around and get his body out of
the grave, and they'll go around telling everybody he's raised
from the dead. Oh, so the last error We'll be worse than the first
one we made. We done messed up once, we don't
want to make any more messes. Pilate said unto them, you have
a watch. Go your way and make it as sure
as you can. So they went and made the sepulchre
sure, sealing the stone and setting the watch. And you know it says in another
place that since the Lord raised, they went over and paid those
fellows to tell people that he didn't really raise from the
dead. But anyway, back over in our text. So they got him a watch,
they set on the watch and said, now ain't nobody gonna come to
listen. But anyway, look what it said
here. Being grieved that they taught the people. Taught the
people. These men were the teachers of
the people. These rulers here, they thought
they were the teachers of the people. And they were usurping
their authority. We're the ones who teach. We're
the ones who has all the power. We're the ones that's got the
message. We're the ones that's got the synagogue. We're the
ones that rule the temple. We're the ones where you gotta
come and worship. We're the ones that you gotta
come get your sacrifices from us. We're the ones that rule
the roost around here. And they said, you all are usurping
our authorities. And you fellas ain't been to
any schools, you ain't been to any of our seminaries, you ain't
been to where we've been taught, and you got no business out here
doing something that usurping authority over us. Huh? And what it does to us is these
preachers and these apostles threaten their authority. Threaten
their authority. And I'll tell you, you don't
want to threaten the powers that be's authority. And this is what
they hated about our Lord Jesus Christ, His teaching and His
authority. They hated it about him. That's
why they sent somebody, a bunch of men to take him one day and
they came back and said, have you taken him? He says, no, we
didn't. Why didn't you? Because we got
to listening to him and never anybody speak like this man. Nobody, and when we got to listening
to him, we wasn't fixing to take him because I never heard anybody
speak like he did. And the scriptures tells us he
spake like one who had authority, not like the scribes and not
like the Pharisees. They just spin all around. He
spake with authority. And that's what they hated about
him. And when they sent to arrest him, they couldn't do it. And
they had killed him and now they had the people to deal with.
They had these people to deal with. Now these fellas has got
weapons. These people of authority got
weapons and all this and this says there in verse 3 and they
laid hands on them and put them in jail put them in hold until
the next day for it's late in the evening now. And you know
what the weapons, the authorities of this world have? Naked power. That's the only authority and
weapon they have. And I tell you some people have
the power of wealth and they use it to control others. And
if God ever gives you any power or authority, be careful how
you use it. Now this is Father's Day. Father's
Day, you know, and I just say this on the side. He says, Fathers,
and happy Father's Day to you. But He says, Fathers, provoke
not your children to anger. Don't just all the time be on
them and on them and on them just for the sake of being on
them. But this is what they're doing. These fellas have got
nothing but naked power. Authority. And they're going
to use that authority. They want people to know we're
running this place. Not you little old piddling apostles. Says you've got nothing. You've
got no education. You're nothing but fishermen.
You ain't got no authority. You ain't got no power. You ain't
got no prestige. You ain't got no government behind
you. You ain't got no big organization behind you. You ain't got any
money. And ain't nobody's anybody that's
behind you. Nobody's backing you up. And
oh, listen, and the government, that's all the government can
do is use this power. They use this power, the government
uses this power against its own citizens. They use the courts
and police and abuse their power. And they use guns and they use
army, that's the only power it's got. And the first thing they've done
is they came to intimidate them. They came to intimidate them.
They come upon them suddenly. How would you like to be out
preaching, and they come upon you suddenly? What if we're sitting
here today, and I'm telling you, this is going to happen. I'm
64 years old, and if God lets me have another 10 years, I'll
just be 74, and I'll just almost bet a cow to a dollar and a half. that before 10 years passes,
that there'll be times that people walk through that door and come
in here and say, we understand that you all believe this. We
understand that you preach in this. We understand that you
don't like this. And we understand that this is
what you preach. Now, we're here to see if that's
what you said. If you do, we're going to carry
you out of here. I believe I'll see that before I get out of
here. I really believe I'll see that. That's how far gone our government
is. That's how far gone our nation
is. That's how far gone people are in any sense of morality,
any sense of right and wrong. Nothing's black and white anymore.
And if you have black and white in your view, Then you're the
one that's the bigot, the racist, the idiot, the troublemaker,
the one that's against everything that's right in their view. You think I'm right about that?
I believe I'm right about that. I believe I'll see it, we'll
see that in just the next few years. I mean, they've already
done it in some places. But anyway, that's what they've
done. They come and try to indemnify
them. They come upon them suddenly.
Arrested them. Laid hands on them. That's what
I said in verse 3. How would you come and lay hands
on them? Say they come and got one
arm of John, Another got another arm of John,
and one got an arm of Peter, and another got an arm of Peter,
and they said, come on with us! And they done just like their
master. They were led. They didn't fight, they didn't
fuss, they didn't argue. And oh, beloved, I tell you,
they tried to indemnify, they came upon them, arrested them,
stopped them. And what they were saying to
us, we have the power to shut you down any time we want to.
That's what they're saying. We have the power to shut you
up anytime we want to. That's what they're telling us.
If you preach at all, it's because we let you. Huh? If we decide
you can't, we got the power to stop you anytime we want to. We can arrest you. We can arrest
you tonight. Go back out tomorrow. We can
arrest you again tomorrow. We can just get you anytime we want
to. But look what it says down in verse 13. Now when they saw the boldness, you mean to tell me when they
saw the boldness of Peter and John, you mean they ain't afraid
of us? No. Well I'm a high priest, that
don't make any difference to us. Now when they saw the boldness
of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and
ignorant of men, they marveled. They marveled. Evidently our
rest didn't have any effect on them. Evidently our power didn't
have any effect on them. And all these men weren't intimidated
or they weren't impressed. And they used threats. Look down
here in verse 21. Look what threats they used on
them. So when they had further threatened them, they let them
go, finding nothing how they might punish them because of
the people, for all men glorified God for that which they had done. And oh, listen, this is the charge
they brought against them when they had them up there. Look
down here in verse 7. And when they had set them in
the midst, they asked, By what power or by what name have you
done this? What name is this man here? By
what power and what name? Something you got to use. You
didn't use our name. You never invoked our authority.
You never said to the high priest that I could do this. Could you
just hear him say, in the name of Annas, Oh no. And oh, now listen. And I tell you, see God makes
everything about the name. But what power, but what name?
Now we're going to really see who's got the power. Look what
he says down here in verse 8. Then Peter, filled with the Holy
Ghost. That's the real power. That's
the power that no man can resist. That's the power that God uses. And I tell you, when He uses
that, He puts men prostrate. He shuts men's mouth. He saves
men. He regenerates men. He does things
for men that nobody else can do. And look what He says. And
being filled with the Holy Ghost, set unto them. And look what
He says. You rulers. He started talking,
the rulers. The rulers. And that's what it says, the
rulers and the elders described. He looked up and the first people
said, you rulers of the people and elders of Israel. You notice he didn't defend himself. He didn't talk about what authority
he had, how much power he had. He didn't talk about being an
apostle. He didn't talk about his preaching. He didn't talk
about how many souls had just been born. He didn't talk about
miracles that he had performed. You know what he said? If we
this day be examined of the good deed of the impotent man, He did what every preacher does
by the grace of God. What he does is he starts to
use his every opportunity to say something about the Lord
Jesus Christ. So if we're damn examined for
this good deed, for this act of kindness, for this man that
was impotent, you want to know how he was made whole? You want
to arrest us for this? Because we did a good deed? Because
we did a kindness? And look what it says down in
verse 14. And listen, this same guy, this
same man that was made whole, and beholding the man which was
healed, standing with him. He showed up, you know. Listen,
I'm going to watch these fellows die. And he stood right there with
them. Would you stand with them? If they had been arrested, would
you go and stand with them? And look what it says, And beholding
the man which was healed standing with them. They could not say
nothing against that. So he says, Be it known, He said, I'm going to make you
know some things. I want you to understand some things. You
need to know some things. To you and to all the people
of Israel. Now listen to it. That by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And he gives a four point message
right here. First of all, by the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That's his first point. He's
going to talk about Christ. Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He
talks about him in his humanity and then he goes around and says,
whom you crucified. He talks about the person and
he talks about his death. And all this, and this is what
he said to him. He says, you crucified him. And
what he says, whom you crucified. You did. You rulers did it. You high priests,
you did it. Caisus, you did it. You elders,
you did it. You scribes, you did it. You
stood outside Pilate's judgment hall and said, crucify him, crucify
him, crucify him. Pilate won't let him go. Crucify
him, crucify him, crucify him. You did this. You lied on him. You bribe people to do it. They
were guilty of crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ. And look over
here in Acts 3 in verse 15, what it says. Oh, facing the powers
that be, what courage, what boldness it takes to charge them. And
look what he said in verse 13 here. He says, The God of Abraham
and Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified
his Son, Jesus, whom you delivered up. He never failed to charge
him, and denied him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined
to let him go. But you denied the Holy One and
the Just One, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you, and listen
to this, and killed the Prince of Life, the Author of Life,
whom God has raised from the dead, and we are witnesses of
it. Oh my! Listen, I'll tell you something,
beloved. That's something that, and I've said this, and I hope
you understand it. And until you understand your
part in the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, you'll never be
a partaker of the fruits of it. Until you see Christ crucified
for you, until the Holy Ghost makes you aware of your sin. That's what when Peter preached
unto them, they said that this same Jesus whom you crucified,
God has raised him from the dead and made him both Lord and Christ.
And they smote on their breasts, says, Men and brethren, what
must we do? And I tell you what, our sin, our sin, your sin, my
sin, put him on that tree. And I tell you, until you find
yourself guilty, of crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. There was lots and lots of common
people there too. Lots of people like you and I.
Lord, great Lord called him out to the hill there in Golgotha
before they ever nailed him to the cross. And they stood there
and watched him being nailed. And then they, when they dropped
that free in the home. They stood there and laughed
and mocked and ridiculed. Surely, surely you would realize
your part in the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. And then look
what else he says to them there. Oh, you crucified him. Here's
the second point. Who God raised from the dead.
Oh listen, you say, we will not have this man to reign over us.
God said, yes you will. God said, you killed him, I raised
him. Told you I was going to raise him. He said
he would rise again. Oh, God raised him from the dead. And His resurrection from the
dead, you know what it means? It proves everything concerning
our faith, what we believe. First of all, that Christ was
God. Christ was God. He says, no man takes my life
from me, I have the power to let it down, I have the power
to take it up again. And this commandment have I received
of my Father. And Christ was God. Only God
can give life. Only God can rise from the dead.
Only God has the power to come out of the tomb. Only God has
the power to raise somebody from the dead. And secondly, it means
this, that He accomplished the salvation, the work that He was
sent to do. If He hadn't finished the work
that the Father gave Him, if He hadn't accomplished the work
that the Father gave Him, which to be a sacrifice for sin, to
put away sin once and for all by the sacrifice of Himself,
to honor and uphold God's holy law and to bear our sins in his
own body on that tree and then for the justice and wrath of
God to come down on him like an awful dark cloud and burn
on him and fall on him and punish him to the utmost degree He wouldn't have been raised
from the dead if he hadn't finished that salvation, hadn't accomplished
it. That tells us that our salvation
is a done deal. It's not something that's going
to happen. It's something that's already done. Let me tell you something.
The salvation of everyone from whom Christ died is done. What do I need to do? Believe
me. You mean, don't I need to come
to the front? No! Don't I need to shed a lot of
tears? Oh, tears would be wonderful. But tears never put away one
sin. You get to Christ from right
here to right there. You can get to Him right now
without moving a muscle. You can embrace Him with your
heart and with your soul right now. Do you understand that salvation
is done? It's not in doing. Salvation as sin's already been
put away. Justice already been satisfied.
The law's already been magnified. And Christ now sits at the right
hand of God with all power and authority. And I believe that. So right now, I'm going to go
to Him. I'm going to Him in my heart. I'm going to Him in my
soul. I'm going to Him in every fiber of my being. I've got nobody
else to go to. He's the one that put my sin
away. He's the one that kept my salvation. It's done. It's done. It's done. It's through. It's finished.
You say, well, are you ready to put my sin away? Do you believe
Him? If you believe it, yes, you did. If you trust it, you
say, yes, my sins are gone. Oh, the bliss of this glorious
thought. My sin not in part, but the whole,
is nailed to the cross. I bow no more. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Oh, my soul.
Huh? Oh, listen. Not only that, here's
the third thing that His resurrection proves. Death isn't the end for
anyone. Death isn't the end. It wasn't the end for Christ. And it's not the end for everyone
who's in Christ. But death isn't the end. We're
either going to be raised with Christ or be lost forever. Could you
imagine being lost forever and ever and ever? Now I know everybody
in this building at one time or another you've been somewhere
and you got turned around and you got lost. And it's a troubling thing to
get lost. How do I get back from here to
there and this and you just go around in circles. Mary and I,
one time we was in this city and we went for 30 minutes, we
kept going around saying, let's get us out. And we kept coming
back to the same place every time for over 30 minutes. So
we just parked the car and got out and walked until we figured
out how to get out of there. And old Scott told this story,
and tell me if I'm wrong about this, y'all, after service. Don't
tell me now, tell me after service. But if I'm not mistaken, they
was off hunting up in West Virginia. And snow came on. And Glenn Shrevely
was all out hunting in Glenn Shrevely. It snowed. And he couldn't
find the trail. And he was hunting and he started
crying out, I'm lost! I'm lost! I'm lost! I'm lost!
I can't find my lost! I'm lost! I'm lost! Because everything turned white
and he couldn't see which way it was coming. And that's where
you've got to understand that you're lost. You're lost. You're
lost. Well, how in the world will I get found? Christ has
to find you. His sheep are lost and he goes
and finds the lost sheep. And when he's found that lost
sheep, he lays that sheep on his shoulder. Oh, to be on the
shoulder of the Lord Jesus Christ. You know He is so glorious and
so magnificent and so powerful and so omnipotent and so gracious
and so pitiful and kind and compassionate that He carried all of us on
His shoulder at one time. And I'll tell you something about
Him. I don't never want Him to take me off His shoulder. I cannot
stand on my own. I cannot go in my own strength.
I cannot stand on my own power. I can't make it to glory if He
don't take me. I can't make it through the rest
of the day if He ever sets me down and leaves me to myself.
I'm a goner. So the Lord Jesus, He comes and
He takes His sheep and He lays them on His shoulder. Oh, listen. And then, beloved,
there's a resurrection. Resurrection of the just and
the unjust. And here's the fourth thing about
this resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. God did this. God raised Him up. And how do
you know? Everybody went to the tomb and
said it's empty. Everybody went to the tomb and said it was empty.
And here's the third message. Here's the third point of His
message. He said in verse 11, This is the stone which was set
at nought of you builders which has become the head of the corner.
God's purpose is fulfilled even though it's opposed. This is the stone which was set
at nought, and you know what that nought means? That means
that you set it, consider it to be nothing. Not worth thinking
about. Not worth mentioning. Bring a
stone and set it in the corner. Oh no, we don't want that stone.
Oh, that stone ain't fit to be set in a corner. That stone there,
we reject it. It's not right. It's not good.
It's not got enough power. And they said, we don't want
it. We despise it. We reject it. We don't want nothing
to do with it. God said, that's what you think.
This is the corner I'm going to stay. And he said it right
there. He said, you said it is nothing, I'll make it there be
everything. You don't even want to stand
on it, I'm going to build my church on it. And every stone I put in, it's
going to be, not a hand is going to be put on it, I'm going to
take it and I'm going to set it in there. Let me show you something over
here. Do you know where Zechariah is at? Malachi is the last book
in the Old Testament. Zechariah is the book right before
that. Look in Zechariah 4, just a minute. Oh my! They said, that shows us that
God's purpose is going to be fulfilled. They said, well, we
don't want this stone. God said, I don't care what you
want. He said, My will is what's going to be done. I'm going to
set this cornerstone. You set it in naught. You reject
it. But He says, I'm going to set this to be the head of the
corner. Look what it said here in Zechariah
chapter 4 and verse 6. Then he answered and spake unto
me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel,
saying, Not by might, not by an army, nor by power, but by
my Spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts. Who art thou, O great
mountain, before Zerubbabel? Thou shalt become a flame, and
he shall bring forth the headstone." Listen to it. Their love was
shouting, crying, Grace! Grace! Grace said it and grace put it
on him. In spite of rejecting it, in
spite of denying it, in spite of saying I don't want it, God
said I'll do my will and the armies of heaven among the inhabitants
of the earth and there ain't nobody going to stay my way.
Nobody. And oh, and listen to what he
goes on to say here. Then he comes down. He said this
man, this man, This man stands cold here by
the power of the one you crucified now lives. The man who crucified
now lives. The world hates, let me tell
you something, the world hates personal guilt. But the resurrection
proves that there's life after death and that God's will is
going to be accomplished whether you ever believe it or not. Whether
you ever trust Christ or not. And oh, so trust Him. You certainly
don't want, you know it said over in Matthew 22, on whomever
falls on this stone, it'll grind him to powder. It'll
crush him. So whoever this stone falls on,
it'll grind him to powder. If we fall on this stone, we'll
be broken. God will break us. Saved. But if this stone falls on you,
it'll grind you to powder. I don't want that for you. I
don't want that for anybody. And then look what else he goes
on to say here. And I love it right here. Neither is there
salvation. Here's his fourth point. No other
salvation. Under heaven. Upon this earth
anywhere. And look what he says. There's
none other name under heaven and first of all it's given.
This name is given. Who gave him this name? God did.
How do you know his name was going to be Jesus? Thou shalt
call his name Jesus. Why are you going to call him
that? For he shall, shall save his people from their
sins. It's given to men to trust, given
to men for salvation, given to men to declare, given to men
to believe, given by God to set above every name so that when
you call, that's the name that God says, call on me through
this name. And oh beloved, listen, and look
what it says here, whereby we must be saved. Huh? Only by this man. What does that
mean? That means that if you're saved,
Christ must be the one to save you. Must be saved. He said, Thou
shalt call His name Jesus, and He shall save His people from
their sin. So if He shall, that means they
must be. And if you're saved, He must
be the one that does it. He's got the power. He's got
the price. He's got the willingness. He's
got the mercy. He's got the grace. He's got
the love. He's got the compassion. He's got everything a poor, helpless
sinner needs. You need life? He's got it. You've got fears? He can calm
your fears. You've got weakness? He's your
strength. You've got no ability? He's got
it all. You know the only thing you can
bring to the table? It's nothing but sin and weakness
and inability. And everything you've got, He
done pushed it away. He's got the strength and He's
got the ability. He's got the willingness. He's
got everything that you need. You're naked? He's got the clothes to put on
you. He's got it all. He's got it
all. Oh my! He's the only Redeemer,
the only sacrifice, the only satisfaction. No one's ever like
Him. Holy, harmless, undefiled, separate
from sinners, higher than the heavens. You say, preacher, that's too
narrow. That's the way God said it. No other name whereby we
must be saved. It's exclusive, yes, Christ is
the only Savior. It's intolerant, yes, God will
let nobody come unto Him except through Jesus Christ. But what name will you ever be
saved if it won't be by the Lord Jesus Christ? How else will you be saved if
Christ don't save you? And I can tell you, and I could
ask a multitude of people to stand up here this morning. I
could go from, start right here, go across this pew, come back
across that pew and let everybody stand up that knows the Lord
Jesus Christ. And every one of them would tell you. Every one
of them would tell you. He's everything that I need.
He's all that I want. And my salvation is a miracle. And I have been saved, I am being
saved, and I shall be saved. You say, I don't know if I'll
be able to make it. You won't. You won't. You won't. You can't. That's why you come
to save us. Because we can't. But He can. He can. Oh, trust Him, trust Him, trust
Him. Oh, listen, you know how you get real, real weary sometimes,
you get real weak and you just fall back on the bed and you're
so tired and you just want to rest so much and you just, oh,
I need to rest so much, I'm just so tired and you fall back. If
you're weary, tired, fighting, struggling with life and its
problems and its fears and its anxieties and its troubles and
its burdens, Just fall back on Christ. He'll catch you. He'll catch you. And He'll never
ever set you down. Our Father, in the blessed, blessed
