I will praise Thee, O Lord, with
my whole heart. I will show forth all Thy marvelous
works. I will be glad and rejoice in
Thee. I will sing praise to Thy name, O Thou Most High. When
mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at
Thy presence. For Thou hast maintained my right
and my cause. Thou sentest in the throne, judging
right. Thou hast rebuked the heathen.
Thou hast destroyed the wicked. Thou hast put out their name
for ever and ever. O thou enemy, destructions are
come to a perpetual end, and thou hast destroyed cities, their
memorial is perished with them. But the Lord shall endure forever. He hath prepared His throne for
judgment, and He shall judge the world in righteousness. He
shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The Lord
also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times
of trouble. And they that know thy name will
put their trust in thee. For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken
them that seek thee, saying praises to the Lord which dwelt in Zion.
Declare among the people his doings. When he maketh inquisition
for blood, he remembereth them, he forgetteth not the cry of
the humble. Have mercy upon me, O Lord, consider
my trouble, which I suffer of them that hate me. Thou liftest
me up from the gates of death, that I may show forth all thy
praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in thy
salvation. The heathen are sunk down in
the pit that they made, and the net which they hid is their own
foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgment
which He executed. The wicked is snared in the works
of His own hands. The wicked shall be turned into
hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall
not be always forgotten, the expectation of the poor shall
not perish forever. Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail. Let the heathen be judged in
Thy sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, that
the nations may know that themselves to be but men. I'll title my message this evening,
I will, for Thou hast. I will, for thou hast." David
said in verse one, I will, praise thee, O Lord. Verse two, I will
be glad and rejoice in thee. And this is the reason, verse
four, for thou hast maintained my right. I will because you
have. That's right, ain't it? We will
because He has. And here what David is doing,
he's praising the Lord, he's praising God. He's still rejoicing
over the God from where in Psalm 8 where he said, O Lord, how
excellent is Thy name in all the earth. And here he's done,
and that's, he said that twice there. And here he's praising
the Lord with all of his heart. And he's praising God for destroying
his enemies. That's what he's doing. David
had enemies, and I don't know what these particular enemies
were at the time, but he's rejoicing and thanking God for destroying
his enemies. And there's going to be a time
when the saints shout hallelujah while God sends men to hell.
Over Revelations, I believe it's 19, they shout hallelujah as
the smoke ascended up, and God, the sovereign, He executed judgment
upon all the nations, and He opened up hell and cast them
all in there. And the saints began to shout, Hallelujah. The
Lord God Omnipotent reigneth. And that's where we're at. And
that's what David's doing here. David had some enemies. God destroyed
them. God put them down. God took them
away from him. And let me tell you this. This
is a personal, personal It's a practical psalm, but it's also
a prophetic psalm. It says a lot about our Lord
Jesus Christ, and we'll see that. And David was happy. David was
happy that God had destroyed some enemy of his. And he was
thankful that God's people can always put their trust in the
Lord. Ain't that what he says down there in verse 10? And they
that know thy name will put their trust in thee. So he's giving
thanks, and look what David does. He starts off saying, I will
praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart. Now I read something,
I believe Mr. Spurgeon said it, he says, you
know, David done everything with all of his heart. God said he
was a man after his own heart. And he says that a half a heart
is no heart. And I think that's right, because
when I'm half hearted, I feel like I got no heart. You understand
what I mean? When I feel like I'm half-hearted
at what I do, I don't have no heart at all to do it. And that's
why David said, I'll praise Thee with my whole heart. And then
he says, you know, David, he puts his heart. He said, that
means all of me. I'll praise Thee with my whole
being, and I will show forth all Thine marvelous works. Now
you begin to talk about the works of God. Marvelous works. Everything God does is marvelous.
There's something for us to marvel at, to wonder at, and that's
the same thing as saying, I will show forth the wonder of thy
works. And what about His works in creation?
Oh my, the works of God are beyond description. We've seen things
that God's done, and just to behold a beautiful tree, just
to see a beautiful bird, and especially to see some glorious
mountain, all the marvelous works of God. and His works in praying
and meeting our needs in His providence all the time. Always
protecting and preserving. But the marvelous work of His
salvation the marvelous work that God undertook to save His
people, that God Himself took and sent His Son into this world.
And His Son came for one purpose, and one purpose only, and that
was to bear our responsibility, to become our surety, to bear
our sins in His own body on the tree, to endure God's wrath for
us, to satisfy God's justice that could never come back and
get us. Oh, what a marvelous work God
done. And I tell you what, you look
at yourself and what God's done with you, and you'll have to
say, it's a marvel, it's a wonder. It's a wonder what God did for
me. It's a wonder. Something to wonder
at. That God would save us and save
us away. That He could stay God. That
He could stay just. He could stay on His throne.
Stay glorious in His power. And yet come to sin and save
sinners like us, and be just in doing it, and declare us just. And how can He do that? Only,
only, only through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. And that's
why Christ is called the Wisdom of God. And let me tell you something. If you think about this, you
go home and you consider, You consider how Christ could be
the wisdom of God in saving sinners, and if you find the answer to
that question, you'll know the gospel. Ain't that right? How Christ could be the wisdom
of God to save sinners, and you'll know the gospel. That's the only
way Christ was God's wisdom. Well, you do that. Then look
what he goes on to say, and I'll be glad. I'm glad. Glad, oh, I get glad pretty often,
especially when people are preaching. But I will be glad and rejoice
in thee. There's nothing to rejoice in,
in this world, unless God saves somebody. And then we rejoice
in Him for what He's done for us. I'll be glad and rejoice
in thee. There's much to rejoice in in
Christ, much to rejoice in in God, much to rejoice in in who
He is and what He's done and who He does it for. And then
look what He says, And I'll sing praise to thy name, O thou Most
High. You know the first place that
the Most High God's name's mentioned. In Genesis 14, no, excuse me,
Genesis 18, when Abraham met Melchizedek on the
way back from the slaughter of the kings. And he met Melchizedek
and he said, I'm the priest of the Most High God. That's the
first place it was mentioned. O Thou Most High God, the High
and Lofty One that inhabits eternity, I'll sing praise to Thy Name.
And let me tell you something about His Name. When we say we'll
praise His Name, that means that we recognize who we're talking
to, who we're praising. We will praise Him, His name. His name is Jehovah. His name
is Lord. His name is God. His name is
Father. His name is Holy Spirit. His
name is Son. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. His name is Savior, Wonderful,
Counselor, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace. So when we say,
we're going to praise, sing praise to thy name, we know what the
name means. And God will only accept us when
we recognize who He is. Very few people recognize the
name of God. Very, very few. I mean, you look
at some of these things that these people put on their church
signs, and you know it'd be a fountain, not a drain. What a stupid thing to put on
a church sign. Take a Bible, take a Bible bath,
soak in the Word. Sunday's message, prison break. Where is the devil's way of saying,
thanks for listening. And be sure to do this, come
see us at the fireworks tent at Walmart this week. Folks wouldn't know God from
a goat, that's why we say, that's why David said, we're going to
praise your name. We recognize who he is. We recognize his blessed
name. We recognize the name, that name
that's above every name. And that's why he says, I'll
sing praise to thy name. And look what he went on to say,
O thou most high. The one that's so far above us. Finite. He's infinite and we're
finite. But David gives four reasons
why he praises and rejoices in God, and why he gives thanks
to His name, and why he sings praises with all of his heart.
He gives us four reasons here in the first part. First of all,
he praises God for his own personal deliverance. Look what he said
in verse 3. In verse 4. He said, This is
why I am going to sing praise to You and sing with all my heart.
When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish
at Thy presence. See, David was a great warrior.
I mean, he was a warrior. David and his three mighty men,
it wasn't nothing for him to slay them. David saw through his thousands,
David saw through his hundreds, David saw through his thousands.
And David was a great warrior, but he knew. He knew that he
didn't survive his enemies. He knew he didn't survive all
of his battles because of himself, by some deed that he had done.
He said he knew that God was the one behind everything, that
God was the one who saved him and kept him. He said, when my
enemies are turned back, God said, I'll turn your enemies
back. God said, I'll lift up a standard. When the enemy comes
in as a front, I'll lift up a standard against them. And look what,
they shall fall? Oh, the enemy, she said, they're
going to fall. Why? Because then they're going to
perish. Because you come forth. You come on my side. You come
and take my cause. You're the ones that in your
presence turn them back. And oh, beloved men, look what
he goes on. And I tell you, if we have any enemies, if God don't
destroy them and keep them back and cause them to fall, they're
going to get us. And then look what else he says,
for thy has maintained my right, my cause. You know, he's saying, I was
right, my cause was just, and I was right in my wars, I was
right in my battles, I was right in the things that I was doing,
and you maintained it. You upheld me in that. And while
you were doing that, you were sitting on your throne, and you
were judging between me and the wicked. And the wicked was perishing,
the wicked was falling, but you were maintaining me. You were
upholding me. You is keeping me in the right
and you is keeping my cause. And oh, what a wonderful thing
that God would do that for us. Maintain our rock and keep our
cause. And then he sat on his throne
making the difference between the two. And then here's the
second reason. He praised God for saving him
from all the heathen nations. Now, this is prophetic right
here. Let me show you that this is prophetic. For thou hast rebuked
the heathen, and this is Christ now, thou hast rebuked the heathen,
thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name
for ever and ever. Now that's something yet going
to be. There's still lots of wicked people. And their name has not been put
out for ever and ever. The name of the memory of the
just is blessed, but the name of the wicked, it rots. And look
what he said here, he said, you know, you destroy them. God has
and will destroy and rebuke and destroys these people completely. And he says here, they put out
their name forever and ever. That's going to come a day when
the Lord Jesus Christ, and we'll see that here in a minute, when
he's going to sit on the throne and he's going to put out people's
names forever and ever. Going to destroy them forever
and ever. Their names are going to be blotted
out forever and ever. And those that the Lord Jesus
Christ died for, our names in the book of life, they'll never
be blotted out. Moses said, blot out my name.
God said, I ain't going to do it. Blot out my name. He said, I'm
not going to do it. And then look what he said in
verse 5, because it saved him from these nations. And this
is a prophetic thing. O thou enemy, and all my enemies
we have, Oh, the enemies, he says, destructions are come to
a perpetual end. Whatever our enemies are and
the destructions that they have, he says, they come to a perpetual
end. There's going to be an end to
the destructions of the wicked. There's going to be an end to
the destructions of our enemies. There's going to be an end to
our enemies that destroys this body. We're going to get a new
one. Look what he says. And then he says, and thou hast
destroyed sinners. And listen to this. And they
won't even remember them, their memorial is perished forever.
He said, they won't even be remembered. He said, so they will put out
their name forever, and their memorial is going to be perished
forever too. You know, you put up signs, all
people got signs everywhere, in memorial of this, and in memorial
of that, and in memory of this, and in memory of that. People
build churches and buildings and things by selling bricks,
you know, and say, if you'll give us a thousand dollars for
a brick, we'll put it in memory of so and so. Dedicate a pew
to somebody that didn't give me a sword or something. God
said he gonna brought it out there and give me. Gonna brought
it out. And oh my, he just gonna, the
memorial's gonna perish with him. Just gonna perish with him. And nigga, look what David says
here. Now look what he says next. David praises him for his righteous
judgment. Again, I'll show you, this is
the Lord. But the Lord shall endure forever. The world, the
wicked's going to be destroyed. Their name's going to be gone
forever and ever. Destructions and enemies are going to come
to a perpetual end. Memorials are going to perish.
But the Lord, He's going to go on forever and ever and ever.
And He has prepared His throne for judgment. And I don't need
His prepared right now. We don't know when it's going
to come. We don't know when it's going to happen. But look what
he says here. He hath prepared his throne for judgment. Now,
oh my, Bruce Crabtree made it so plain Sunday morning about,
oh, to die lost, to die in your sin, to die without ever knowing
God, without ever knowing Christ, to be lost forever and ever.
to no end of your misery, no end of being rejected, no end
to it. And God's got His judgment prepared.
Sitting on His throne, judgment's prepared. He's got it all ready. And one of these days, He's going
to call all the nations forth, and He's going to say, the goats
over here on the left and the sheep over here on the right,
and you go to part of the thunder and the nations and everything
that's forgotten God, they're going to just all be parted away
forever. And then look what he said, and
oh my, and this is what Paul preached to them on Mars Hill
when he ended up his message in Acts 17 31, and he shall judge
the world in righteousness. Now that's That's the difference
in the judges of this world. That's the difference in the
way people deal with things in this world. It's rare for a man
to be able to make a righteous judgment. It's rare for a man
to make a judgment and make it right concerning any one thing
or any one person apart from the scripture. But God's gonna
judge the world in righteousness. That king that took his bribes,
that king that held forth his scepter, all those people, beloved,
that trusted in all the things that they trusted in, there they'll
be. And God will be, all their thoughts will be exposed. All
their motives will be exposed. All their desires will be exposed. Everything that everybody ever
done will be exposed. And He's going to judge in righteousness. And a man may stand up and say,
I did. And God will say, no, you didn't. Oh, to judge in righteousness.
Judge the world in righteousness. I'll tell you, let me say this
for believers. He's judged us in righteousness,
and He judged us in Christ. That's why when we face God,
we're not afraid, because we've already been judged. We've already
been judged in Christ. God judged us in righteousness.
He judged us in Christ, and He gave us His righteousness. Christ
is our righteousness. But everybody outside of Christ,
oh my! Has everybody seen a plumb line?
You know, they don't use them anymore. But you know, you've
seen a plumb line around me when you hang that thing down that
makes... It don't make the wall straight, it just shows you how
crooked it is so you can get it straight. And here's the thing
about it, God's plumb line is the Lord Jesus Christ and His
righteousness and His obedience and everything He did. And that
plumb line right there, if you're not as straight as God's plumb
line, you're in trouble. Bad trouble. Serious trouble
when God judges the world in righteousness. And look what
he says here. And also in the last, he shall minister judgment
to the people in uprightness. You know, when a judge sits on
his throne, everybody is just waiting to be bathed in bread.
You know, for the Supreme Court to come out with this ruling
and that ruling, and hundreds of people standing outside waiting,
and they run out there and say, well, this is what they decided,
this is what they said. But God, He's going to send them.
He's going to send them on His throne, and He's going to minister.
He's going to be there to minister justice. He's going to be there
to minister judgment to the people. Meet it out, just exactly what
everybody's got coming. And then look what else he does.
He praises God for his personal protection. Look in verse 9 and
10. So you see, he praises Him and
sings praises to Him and is glad and rejoices in Him for his personal
protection. Look what he said in verse 9.
The Lord will also be a refuge for the oppressed. Oh my! Not only a refuge for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble. Do you ever feel oppressed? You know, you're like this, this
thing's coming from all directions. And you know, and he said, well,
listen, he says, the Lord will be a refuge for those who are
oppressed. Where else are you going to go when you're oppressed,
when you feel like oppression's all around you? I've got a place
to go. Go to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And then look what he says here also. a refuge in times, times
of trouble. Didn't say I wasn't going to
have trouble, but when you do, when you are in those times when
you have those troubles, where you going to go? Going to go
to the Lord Jesus Christ. He's my refuge. I'll tell you,
and I know from my own experience, I don't know how long I'm going
to speak for myself, but if I didn't have Him for a refuge, if I didn't
have Him for a refuge, In the times of trouble, when I feel
this oppression, when I feel, you know, that you just don't
know which way to go, which way to turn, how to answer the questions,
how to deal with yourself, how to deal with what's going on.
And when all that goes on, I just stop and say, Lord, I'm going
to hide myself right here. I'm going to stay right here.
I'm going to leave all that out. I'm going to leave that behind.
I'm going to hide right here. And, oh, listen to what he says
now. This is so glorious right here. Verse 10, And they that
know thy name will put their trust in thee, for thou, Lord,
hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Oh, my. Three things here. They that
know thy name. We talked about his name. This
is eternal life that they might know thee, the only true God
in Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. They that know thy name
Know the power of your name. Know the glory of your name.
Know the salvation of your name. Know the power of your name.
Know the strength of your name. Know what all your name stands
for. You know what they'll do? When they've got the knowledge
of who God is, when they have that knowledge of who He is,
you know what they'll do? They'll put their trust in Him. The more
you know Him, the more you'll trust Him. If you ever know Him,
you'll trust Him. Old Tom says all the time, you
know what? Faith cannot not believe. When you know Him, you cannot
not believe. You've got to trust Him. And
I tell you, the Lord, when you know Him, you'll say, I trust
Him. I trust Him with my soul. I trust
Him with my life. I trust Him with my family. I
trust Him with my children. I trust Him with everything that
I know. I trust Him with Him with it.
And then what else He says? And here's the blessed results
of it. For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken
them that seek thee." Oh, you ever sought the Lord, and the Lord said, no, no, He listens. We seek Him, He never forsakes
us, never walks off and leaves us, never leaves us high and
dry, always there for us. And there's three things involved
in this business, and there's three things involved in our
salvation, all three of them in this verse. We know Christ. He that knoweth
God puts his trust in Him. You've got to know Him. You cannot
call on an unknown Christ and then faith. When you know Him,
then you believe Him. You believe Him. Faith is involved.
And then our experience is that the Lord has never, ever forsaken
us. Oh my. Well, let me hurry on.
Let me hurry on. Look what else he says here.
And then another reason David desires, David does here in the
second part of this psalm is, is he desires for all of the
Lord's people to sing praises to the Lord. Look what he says
in verse 11. Just let everybody sing praises to the Lord which
dwells in Zion. God dwells in Zion. You know,
Zion is considered the church. Zion is considered the place
where God dwells. Zion is the church. Zion is that
place where God is saying praises to the Lord which dwells in Zion. Declare among the people His
doings. Testify of His glory. Testify
of what He does. Testify of what He's doing among
His people. Testify about God. And oh, listen
to this now. And look, here's another reason
why we sing praises to Him. Oh, this is something. When He
makes us inquisition for blood in verse 12, He remembers them.
What does that mean when He makes inquisition for blood? Inquisition
means that He's going to search, He's going to seek, and He's
going to inquire until He comes to the very answer that He's
looking for. And God said, I'm going to make
you inquisition for blood. Now, what is He talking about?
He's talking about those of His people, His elect people, those
who have suffered, whose blood has been shed for all the ages. That's who He's talking about.
Every time somebody sheds one of His people's blood, God said,
I'm going to have an inquisition for that blood. And all you know
the Scriptures talk about the voice of blood. Look over in
Genesis chapter 4 with me just a moment. Let me show you one
poem now. Genesis chapter 4 and verse 9. You know, he remembers all who
shed the blood. Oh, you know how many times the
saints' blood's been shed down through the ages? They're killing
Christians in Egypt now. I don't know. They call them
Coptic Christians. You know, there's a... And they're
killing Christians all over the place, all over the world. In
Vietnam, you can't meet and worship publicly. In China, you can't
meet and worship publicly. And I mean, if they find you
up there, you know, if I was to go over there and try to hold
a meeting in somebody's house and they caught us, they'd put all
them people in jail, maybe kill some of them, and that'd certainly
put me in jail. Christianity, and I'm going to
tell you this, talking about donations to forgive God, Right
now, in our military, this is so, I'm going to get a little
personal here. In our military right now, they
have stipulated that you cannot pray in Jesus' name, you cannot
read your Bible, you cannot witness to anybody about Christ and witness
your faith. Now the Muslims can do that,
but the Christian people can't do that. And so the Congress
got a bill together a couple weeks ago and going to ram that
through there and say that the military can read their Bibles,
they can witness, they can have their faith just like any place
else in the United States of America. And our president said,
if they put it on my desk, I'll veto it because we're not going
to have that in our military. No wonder all nations have forgiven
God. We're done turning heads. And that's what I'm talking about
here. I said, you know, he's going to make inquisition for
blood. You mistreat God's people, and you shed their blood, and
you won't let them pray in this. And he said, here, I'm going
to make inquisition. And look there in Genesis 4.
I forgot about that. I got off on that. But look in
Genesis 4 and verse 9. And the Lord said unto Cain,
where is Abel thy brother? He said, I know not. Am I my
brother's keeper? And he said, what hast thou done?
Listen to it. The voice of thy brother's blood
crieth unto me from the ground. You shed your brother's blood,
a believer, a man who believed in me, and now his blood is crying
out, crying out for vengeance, crying out for judgment, crying
out to be atoned for, crying out. And, oh, beloved, remember
what Judas said. He went and threw all that money
back, and he said, I betrayed innocent blood, and hung himself.
And I tell you, God will avenge the blood. He will avenge all
this blood that's been shed. And the Scriptures tells us,
remember when they Pilate says, you know, I won't
let him go. I won't let him go. I won't let him go. And the people
cried out and said, his blood be on us and upon our children. Well, it will be. And it has
and it will be. And oh, beloved, then so you
see, he makes inquisition. Oh, my, to shed the blood of
one of God's people? Oh, and yet it's one of the most
glorious things that God could do. Paul the Apostle put his
hand on him. John the Baptist, just because
he told Philip, Herod, it wasn't lawful for him to have his brother
Philip's wife. God wanted his head. He took his head off. Herod
and Herodias and Philip, the whole shooting match is going
to face God. Pilate said, I'm going to work with my hands of
this man's blood. Did he wash it off? He didn't
wash it off. No, he didn't. Then look what
else he says here in verse 13. So have mercy on me, O God, O
Lord. But yet he forgets not to cry
out the humble. He's going to get those who shed
the blood, but he forgets not to cry out those humbles, those
that humble themselves before God and cries out to Him. And
have mercy upon me, O Lord. Have mercy upon me. Oh, Lord,
I need your mercy. And then look what he says. Consider
my trouble. Consider my trouble. Now, this
is Tim talking about Christ. He's talking about the Lord.
You know, he says, this is Christ. And he said, have mercy upon
me, O Lord. Consider my trouble, which I
serve of them that hate me. They that hate me without a cause
are more than the hairs of my head. And thou liftest me up
from the gates of death." God lifted Christ up, took him out
of the gates of death, when death brought him up out of the tomb.
And oh, beloved. And then he says, and this is
again about Christ, these are prophetic things here, that I
may show forth thy praise in the gates of the daughter of
Zion. Christ shows forth the praises of God. And we show forth
the praises of God. And Christ came and manifested
God to us. And then he says this, I will
rejoice in my salvation. I will rejoice, David will rejoice,
and Christ will rejoice. Thou wilt not suffer my soul
to be left in hell. Thou wilt save me. And oh, let
me hurry up now. And oh, beloved, look what he
tells us. It's about the end of the wicked. He tells about
the end of the wicked in verse 15 through 18. Look at what happens. What's going to happen? The heathen
are sunk down in the pit that they made. A fellow lays a trap
for somebody, and he gets caught in it himself. All those people
that betrayed Christ, and all those people that tried to hold
the Lord's people, and he got sunk in his own pit. And the net which they hid their
own foot had taken. I mean, they think they're slipping
up on God and have their things figured out. God said, they think
they're going to get saved. God said, catch it. They got
them a snare made and they catch it, their own foot in it. And
then the Lord, look what He says now. Oh, the Lord is known by
the judgment He executes. Now you think about that for
a minute. Think about some of the judgment that God has executed
in this world. He executed judgment against
Adam when Adam sinned. He executed judgment against
Cain when Cain slew Adam. He executed judgment against
all the people before the flood, whose only imagination was only
evil continually. He executed judgment against
Sodom and all their wickedness and all their sin and all their
sodomy. And the angels that sinned, he
put them down and cast them in chains. Pharaoh, who said, Who
is the Lord that I shall obey? God executed judgment on him.
Herod, who stood and orated like a great king, got smote with
worms and he died. And Christ, when sin was found
on Him, when He was caused to be our substitute and our sin
offering and our sacrifice, God executed judgment upon Him. And our Lord cried, My God, My
God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Executed judgment upon the Son
of His love. And right now, beloved, look
what He said. Here's what's going to happen. Here's another thing. The wicked shall be turned into
hell and all the nations that forget God. And I don't mean
a literal one right now. That means, beloved, that hell
takes over. In the wicked, they become a
hell themselves, and they, nations that go this way, are turned
into a nation of hellish people, and hellish notions, and hellish
principles, and hellish everything about it is hellish. And then
he says, Oh, arise. Verse 19. Arise, O Lord. Let not man prevail. Arise, O Lord, don't let man
prevail. Well, he won't. And look what he says now. Verse
18, Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail. Arise, O Lord, for the
needy shall not always be forgotten. It seems like people forget people
and their needs. When they first hear about the
need, they get really interested in it. He wanted to do a lot,
and then after a while, the need just gets less and less and less.
And he said, but the needy won't be forgotten. And the expectation
of the poor, that'll never perish. The poor expect something, God
said, I'll give them their expectation. They won't perish. And then he
says in verse 20, put them in fear, O Lord. Now listen. May God, that's one
thing we need to pray for. God, put the fear of God back
in people. Put the fear of God back in our
nation. Put the fear of God back in our home. Put the fear of
God in us. Put the fear of God in our children.
Because when God puts his fear in them, people, they say, I
wouldn't be, I remember Floyd told us one time, he said, he
said, he is a lost man. And he was, I believe he said
he was in Korea. And somebody went to cussing
God and went to carry it on a site. And he said he was lost himself,
and he said, I told that man, don't you fear God cussing like
that? He said, God may kill you right
here. What's the matter with you? And there was a time that people
would rebuke one another when they carried on like that. And
put them in, oh God, put them in fear, oh Lord, that the nations
may know that they're just nothing but
men. And every man is going to have to face God for himself.
And the nations, whatever they are, we may be a nation, but
we're all just men. We're going to have to face God
for ourselves. Put them in fear. Put them in
fear. Oh, I will sing praises unto
Thee, O Lord, for Thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice
in Thee, for Thou hast maintained my cause. I will, because You
have. Amen.
