Deuteronomy, chapter 18. We've been talking about the
person of Christ. We've been talking about the
person of Christ, His humanity, His deity, His Godhead,
God manifest in the flesh, the great mystery of that. And when
we started, going through these Bible doctrines. You know, men
and women are born in darkness, live in darkness, and the Lord
Jesus says, not only are they like that, but they love their
darkness. They love it. And we were in the same boat.
We were in the same boat. And Paul says, the world by wisdom
knew not God. And people that's in this world,
they go through heartaches and griefs and sorrows just like
you and I do. Yet to find a reason for it,
to find an answer to it, and to find some consolation for
it, they look to their reason, they look to their own wisdom,
they look to their philosophy, they look to the flesh, they
look to psychologists, they look to sociologists, and they have
their problems, and yet they're never satisfied. They never find
a solution to them. They never really do. Let me
tell you a little story a preacher told me just yesterday. And this
woman was in our conference this last summer. She was going to
school at the University of North Carolina to get a doctorate.
She liked just a little while getting her Ph.D. in counseling. Well, she made a profession of
faith out of this meeting back where she went from. began to hear the gospel and
grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, she told her pastor's
wife, she says, you know, everything that I've learned is false. I've not learned anything that's
true. And she stopped going to school and just that far away
from getting a doctorate. That's what God does for his
people. I count my wisdom To be foolishness. And I count Christ
to be my wisdom. Now, not many people do that.
See, you gave up a lot of money. You've spent a lot of money.
But what an amazing thing that God would do that. But what do
we tell people in this condition? That they have no answers to
their solutions. They get mad. They get angry. They go to philosophy. They go to their own opinions.
Go to psychiatrists and psychologists. What do we tell people in this
condition? We tell them they need light. from somebody else. They need life from somebody
else. And this is why, you know, we study the scriptures and look
at them, and people may be conscious. Now, most people say they're
conscious that there's a God. But I know this, that their reason
and their thoughts cannot arrive at God, cannot find God, or cannot
understand God. They can say, I believe there's
a God. And be conscious of it. But their carnal reasoning and
their thinking can never get them to God. They can't do it.
But God, bless His holy name, has been pleased to give us a
revelation of Himself. And we see this revelation of
Himself in history. It's His story. This whole world
and everything, it's in His story. We see this revelation of Himself
in nature. Four seasons every year, just
like He said there would be, we see this revelation of God
in creation. But none of these things, but
in none of these things has He spoken clearly or savingly in
history, nature, or creation. People have got to have more
than that. So God in His blessed goodness and His kindness, He
gave us more. He gave us the Bible. He gave
us the Word of God. Gave us the Word of God. And
I'm thankful that He did. And we say the Bible is not words
about God, but that it is the Word of God. Ever jot and tittle
of it. So then it comes back down to
a question of authority. You're going to listen to your
philosophy, Or God? Are you going to listen to your
final reasoning, or God? Are you going to try to solve
your own problems, or are you going to come to God? Are you
going to try to get good by yourself, or are you going to come to God?
And so it's a question of authority. And beloved, this is the Word
of God, and God gave it to us. It's infallible. It's infallible. There's no mistakes in it. In
all matters of faith, we know exactly that the Bible tells
us what we're to believe. And there's people that look
at it and say, I believe this about it, but I don't believe
that about it. You've got to believe it all or none of it. That's
kind of like the law. You know, I keep nine-tenths
of the law, and that's that one-tenth. That one-tenth just nullifies
the other nine-tenths. And then it's all, it's infallible
in all matters of faith. It's infallible in all matters
of practice. We don't need anybody telling
us how we're supposed to live while we live in this world.
This blessed book tells us right here. And there's nothing, nothing
apart from what God says is worth knowing and worth trusting in. Nothing. And it's not what we
think about what the Bible teaches, but what it teaches itself. And
then we know this, that the central point of this revelation that
God gives us in this blessed Word is the Lord Jesus Christ
Himself. And it's His person. It's His
person that God confronts us with right off the bat. The seed
of the woman. The seal of woman, that's the
first thing we're confronted with. We're confronted with this
person, the wonderful, the counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting
Father, the Prince of Peace on His shoulders, the government's
going to be. He's that, and on and on, He's
after the order of Melchizedek. Oh, so much about His person.
And we've looked at His person. The mystery of God manifesting
the flesh. The mystery of His humanity and
His deity. The person of our Lord Jesus
Christ. And we can, but I'll tell you
what, it's not what we say about His person, it's what He teaches
us about His person. Now I want to look about His
work. Let's deal with His work. Some of the work that He's done
while He's on this earth. And we can understand, I'll tell
you, this is a statement that I've heard and folks may disagree
with it, but we can never, never understand the work until who
He is. You don't arrive at Christ through doctrine, you arrive
at doctrine through Christ. You come to Christ, everything
else will fall into place. You can get doctrine. You don't
ride with Christ through doctrine. Because Christ comes and then
you get the right doctrine. And we won't understand what
the work is until we know who He is. And that's why it's such
a dangerous thing for people to say, and you hear them say
it all the time, I'm trusting in the finished work of Christ.
I'm trusting in the finished work of Christ. That's not good
enough. You trust in Christ who finished
the work. Finished the work. Who was it
that came to do the work? Who was it that bore the sin?
Who was it that satisfied God? Who was it that was in the flesh?
Who was it that was born of a virgin? Who was it that died? Who was
it that went in the presence of God? Who is it now that's
in the presence of God? So we won't understand the work
if we don't know who the person is. You know, when our Lord Jesus
said, I've got many things to say unto you, but you're not
yet able to bear it. You know what? They'd seen all
the works that he'd done, but they never really understood
who he really was until his resurrection. They understood what? The work
that he came to do. When he was raised from the dead,
when salvation had been accomplished, then they understood more about
the Lord after his resurrection. And he came, our Lord Jesus came
into this world to reconcile his people to God. And he has
an office, and there's three functions in this office. And
look here in verse 15 of Deuteronomy chapter 18. The Lord thy God will raise up
unto thee a prophet. You see how that's capitalized
a prophet, a title, an office. From the midst of thee, of thy
brethren, like unto me, unto him shall ye hearken." And our
Lord Jesus, He has this office. There's three functions in this
office. Prophet, priest, king. And all of these were foretold
in the Old Testament. And first of all, He is a priestly
prophet. He's the only prophet who is
also a priest. And he's a royal prophet because
he comes from the tribe of Judah. And then not only that, but he's
a prophetic prophet. A prophetic priest, excuse me.
And then he is a royal priest, a prophetic king, and a priestly
king. All of them in our Lord Jesus
Christ. And so we want to talk tonight about his office as a
prophet. And we desperately need somebody.
How in the world are we talking about the Bible being the Word
of God? Well, we have this Word, but who's going to teach it to
us? Who's going to make us understand it? Who's going to work it in
our heart? Who's going to enlighten our
understanding? Who's going to take this darkness away? Who's
going to do that? The preacher can't do it. Church
can't do it. The denomination can't do it.
The priest can't do it up at the Catholic Church. He can't do it. And look what
it says there, it says, The Lord thy God, this is what Moses tells
them, The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet. That's
what they ask about John. Are you that prophet? They know
God's going to send them a prophet. And he'll come right up out of
the midst of you. He'll be your brother. He'll be a Jew like
you. And unto him shall you hearken.
Now watch this, according to all, that thou didst ask of the
Lord God in her, and in the day of this assembly say, Let me
not hear the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this
great fire any more than I doth not." And what they said was,
God don't let God speak to us anymore, so God said, I'll raise
you up a prophet. I'll raise you up a prophet.
And let me tell you something about the Lord Jesus in His office
as a prophet. Now, our Lord Jesus was God or
else He could not have revealed to us or taught us the mind of
God, the purpose of God, the will of God, the mind of God
in the Scriptures. No one can give sight, no one
but God can give sight to the blind and give light in darkness.
And no one can open the heart but he who has the key. And our
Lord Jesus has the key of David. He opens and he shuts. If he
opens, no man can shut. When he shuts, no man can open.
And in Him, in the Lord Jesus, is all the wisdom of God manifested. All the wisdom of God is manifested
in Him. The treasures of knowledge are
in Him. And God made Him unto us righteousness,
wisdom, sanctification, and redemption. But man is in such a state of
sin and death that if the Lord Jesus doesn't become their prophet
to teach them, their prophet that God puts His word in his
mouth, And he comes, and no man hath seen God, the only begotten
Son, he hath declared him, and told him it. And if the Lord
Jesus doesn't become a prophet to you and to me, we'll stay
in ignorance and stay in darkness. Paul said it like this, they
know nothing yet as they ought. You see, the natural man, he
doesn't know the difference between morality or grace. And in the
dark, I don't care how beautiful something is, how pretty something
is, how gorgeous something is, if it's in the dark and you can't
see the beauty of it. And Christ is in His beauty,
and unless He comes and teaches us and brings us out of that
darkness, we'll never see the beauty about it. The angels themselves
stand in amazement at the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ. But
the natural man in his darkness, he sees no beauty about the Lord
Jesus Christ. And you know there's people that
are naturally afraid of the natural darkness. They're afraid of the
natural darkness. But you'll not find anybody that's
afraid of spiritual darkness unless God saves them from the
spiritual darkness. Then they become afraid of it.
Ain't that right? People ain't afraid of spiritual
darkness. Oh no. And God said He raised us up
a prophet. I'm going to raise you up a prophet.
He's called the Counselor. He's called the Angel of the
Covenant, who suddenly comes to his temple. David said he
was his lamp. He said, Thou art my lamp, O
Lord, and the Lord will lighten my darkness. He's the bright
morning star, the first thing you see in the morning before
the sun comes up. And it's like that woman at the
well. When our Lord Jesus Christ says, Go call your husband. I
don't have a husband." She says, you well said. She said, you
had five, and the man you have now is not your husband. She
says, sir, I perceive that you're a prophet. I perceive you're
a prophet. And a prophet is a man of God,
sin of God, taught of God. John the Baptist was the last
Old Testament prophet. But there's never been a prophet
like Christ. And so you see, and he teaches
us. Now, let me show you. Just look with me real quick
over here, Luke. Excuse me, in Isaiah 48. I want you to see
this, just a moment. Isaiah 48. He not only opens
the Scriptures, but he opens the understanding. You know,
when he was with the disciples on the Amass Road, from the Scriptures
he taught them of himself, and he opened their understanding.
And look what it says in Isaiah 48 and verse 17. Thus saith the Lord thy Redeemer,
the Holy One of Israel, I am the Lord thy God, which teacheth
thee to profit." You'll profit by my teaching. You'll learn
something from my teaching. "...which leadeth thee by the
way that thou shouldest go." In other words, beloved, He teaches
us. We get some profit from His teaching. Well, how does the
Lord Jesus, as a prophet, how does He teach us? How does he
teach us about God? How does he make God known to
us? Is he going to teach us? That's what a prophet does. He
comes to tell the mind of God. He comes to tell the will of
God. He comes to say, Thus saith the Lord. And that's what our
Lord said. He says, The words that I speak are not mine, but
the words of him that sent me. And the words that I speak, the
same going to judge you in the last day, he said. So how does
the Lord Jesus teach us? First of all, He teaches us externally
by the Word. Oh, John Bunyan called it the
ear game. He said that's the place God starts attacking. When
He starts attacking the soul, He starts attacking through the
ear game. He starts bombarding the ear game. And that's what
He does. He starts getting into that brain, to that mind, through
the ear. And, beloved, He does it by His
Word. That's why Paul told Timothy, preach the Word. In season, whether
you're out of season, whether you feel real hot or whether
you feel real cold, they've got nothing to do. Preach the Word.
Preach the Word. And that's why David, you know,
it says this, it says that, Thy Word, it's by Thy Word that my
ways is cleansed. It's by the Word that I take
heed to my ways. And he says, and if they speak
not according to this Word, it's because there's no light in them.
So he reaches us externally by his word. And that's why we are
so adamant about preaching the gospel, so adamant about standing
in the scriptures, so adamant about people coming here to the
gospel. Faith comes by hearing. And then
not only does he teach us by the ear game, but he also teaches
us inwardly, in our heart, by the Holy Spirit. He says, When
he, the Spirit of truth, is come, He'll guide you into all truth.
He shall take the things of mine and shall show them unto you.
He'll teach you of me. And He teaches us inwardly. It's
like our Lord, you know, when Paul says, the natural man receiveth
not the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them.
How are you going to know them? The Holy Spirit's got to come
and take the things of Christ and teach them to us. Teach them
to us. You know, a hog can see an acorn. A hog can see an acorn. But a
hawk can't look up and see a star. He can't even look up in a tree
and see where they can come from. And so that's the way we are.
God's got to teach us. He's got to change our natures.
And that's why it says the Word of God is quick and powerful,
sharper than any two-edged sword, to the piercing of the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit. Verse three things I'm going
to tell you He starts teaching us. Three things. There's more
things He teaches, but this is what I'm going to deal with tonight.
What's the first thing He teaches us? What's the first thing He
starts teaching us as a prophet of God, as He starts teaching
His people, as He starts coming to us and dealing with us and
opening our ears and teaching us in our hearts? The first thing
He teaches us is what is in our hearts by nature. The first thing
we understand is that our hearts are deceitful above everything
and desperately wicked. That's the first thing. I mean,
He starts teaching us what's in our own hearts. We start thinking
that we had a good heart, we find out we got a hard heart.
We start thinking about we got a loving heart, we come to find
out that it don't take much to make that heart turn into a hate
of love. We think we have a heart that can be touched. And you
know we're compassionate, but only compassionate with those
that we think we ought to show compassion and not to others.
And He shows us and teaches us what's in our hearts. And oh
my, when we look in our hearts, we just say, oh my soul. It's
like finding a nest of rattlesnakes. That's what happens when He seeks
us in our hearts. You just come up on a whole nest
of rattlesnakes. And you find that venom, you
find that rattle, you find that spit, and you find that hate,
you find that venom. And you didn't even know it was
there until the prophet of God comes and turned on the light
in the heart. Man, do you know mysteries of
science? Oh my, these guys that know so much about science, whoo,
they blow your mind. Economics, politics, but they
don't know the mysteries of the whole art. They don't know the
mysteries of the whole art. They can't believe the wickedness
of it. You remember that? I think it was Joas. He was going to go in and put
a wet rag over the king's face. and kill him. And the prophet
come to him and told him, he says, you know, I know what you're
going to do. When you go in there that king, you're going to take
a wet rag, put it over his face to smother him, and then you're
going to stab him. And you know what the first thing
he says? Do you think I'm such a dog and I'd do such a thing
as that? But he didn't. That's what, oh, I wouldn't do
that. I'll tell you something, beloved. Ever seen that any man
can commit on the top side of God's earth than is in every
heart that's ever lived? And the only reason it don't
spout and bring forth fruit is God staying a man, keeping him
from it. All you've got to do is look
at some of the things you've thought about in your life, thought about
doing, and oh my, we see our vain thoughts now. We see our
evil imaginations. We blush at our sin. And we cry
out, oh God, save me from myself. I need saving from me. Me, myself,
my weakness, my inability, my vanity. So he teaches us, oh
my, the wickedness and inability of our own heart to change itself.
And he teaches us the vanity of man. They are vanity of vanity,
says the preachers, and we find out just how vain he is. Where's your strength at when
you get sick? Where's your strength at when you get down? Where is
your ability to save yourself from any respect? We walk in
a vain show, and all God's got to do is BAM! He puts you in
the dust so fast. Scott Richardson said, he said,
Lord God can bring you to the dust in the snap of a finger.
And he got out of the hospital, he said, I felt like a mangy
dog tied to a bumper in the dust and couldn't get away. Vanity,
vanity, everything we've got is vain. We're vain. We walk in a vain show. The natural man, he looks for
happiness in this world, but the believer don't. He knows
that at his best state, he is vanity. He knows that his days
is as a hen's breath. Oh, and I'll tell you something
else he teaches us. Oh, my. I tell you, you know
how vain it is whenever God takes You really see the vanity of
it when there's something that you love dearly. Some of you
all just, you're spirits, if you have a husband, or a daughter,
or a son, or a baby, and God takes them, and how vain is the
world? You see the vanity of it then. What did it amount to when I
stand there and look at them? What does the house mean? What
does the cars mean? What does the money mean? I had no strength to do anything,
and that's the issues of this world. I mean, it's just like
trying to get anything out of this world and find any happiness
or joy. It's like trying to catch the wind in your hands. And He teaches us. He teaches
us the worth, the power, the glory of things unseen. Oh, we look at the things not
seen. Oh, the things that we see, they're
temporal. But the things that we don't
see, they're eternal. That's what Paul said. And we
see the power and the glory of things. We ain't seen Christ,
but we see the power and glory of it. We can't see faith, but
we see the power and glory of it. We ain't seen heaven itself,
but we've seen something of the power and glory of it. We ain't
seen the Trinity, but we see something of the power and glory
of it. That's why Paul said, Moses said, he endured as seeing
Him who is invisible. Oh, this earthly tabernacle is
going to be dissolved, but we have a building not made with
hands eternal in the heavens. And oh, he says, though we may
have trouble now, We have a far more exceeding eternal weight
of glory. Oh, my. Well, how does our Lord
Jesus Christ, don't you don't you see the worth of these things
outside this world? Me and Todd was talking about
today, he's talking about, oh, my, you know, to go to be with
the Lord, be able to stand, actually stand in his presence. Actually
stand in his presence. And then Wayne was talking before
it comes to service, and he was wanting to, we went through 1
Thessalonians chapter 4, and he was going to start preaching
next week, starting at verse 13 when he says, I would not ye be ignorant, brethren,
concerning them which are asleep, and that ye saw not as those
which have no hope. For them that are asleep in Christ
Jesus will God bring with Him. And the Lord shall descend with
a shout with the voice of an archangel. And then those that, the dead will rise first, and
those that are alive in the rain shall be caught up forever to
be with the Lord. Don't you look? I'll stay here
as long as the Lord wants me to. But I mean, oh my, but you
know what's going to happen? What happens here, you just close
your eyes here and you wake up there. You take a step from here, you
go into another world. And you know, Ben, from going
from the natural world into the spiritual world, that was some
kind of a radical change, wasn't it? What a radical change for
us to go to that natural world, a sinful world, and come over
here into this spiritual world. Transform from the kingdom of
darkness into the kingdom of God's dear Son. From flesh to
spirit. So you imagine what kind of change
it's going to be when we go from this world and the spiritual
to sinless perfection there in the presence of God with nothing
to deal with in this world ever again. That's going to be a radical
change. Oh my. Well, let me hurry on. When our Lord Jesus teaches,
how does His teaching, how does the prophet of God, the one who
teaches us the mind of God, the Word of God, the will of God,
how is His teaching different than, say, mine or any other
preacher's? Well, first of all, He teaches the heart. He teaches
the heart. He gets to the heart. All I can
do is get to the ear. I can get to the head. But He
gets to the heart. I can inform the mind. But he
can put his impress on the heart. Just like Lydia. She was tending
to the things that Paul spoke down there by the riverside.
And the Scripture said, and the Lord opened her heart. All I can do is give you knowledge,
but Christ gives you grace. I can tell you the truth and
give you some light on the truth, but only Christ can give you
the love of the truth. We can only teach what to believe,
what you ought to believe, but Christ can teach you how to believe
and cause you to believe. And not only that, but He gives
us a taste of the Word. A taste of the word. Now, this
is something that you understand. I know you understand this. A
preacher can set food before you, but only Christ can cause
you to taste it. If you've tasted that, the Lord
is gracious. Have you ever tasted the grace
of God? Oh, the taste is the grace of God. How gracious does
the grace of God taste? And God said, taste and see the
goodness of the Lord. And oh, we taste the grace of
God. We taste the goodness of God.
We actually taste it. We can savor it. That's why Paul
says, you know, Christ is the knowledge of savor, a savor of
life unto life. When it comes, it's got this
savor, this strong smell, and it gives life to those who smell
it. But it also is a savor of death
unto death. And it's one thing to hear a
truth preached. It's another thing to taste it. It's one thing to hear a promise
or to read a promise. It's another thing to taste that
promise and enjoy it. And I'll tell you something else. There's a prophet, what the Lord
does. When our Lord Jesus teaches a man in his heart, Gets to His
heart. Works grace in Him. He makes
us obey. I can't make myself obey. But
He can. We can teach, but we can't make
men obey. We can preach humility, but we
can't humble anybody. We can preach meekness, but we
can't make anybody meek. We can preach poverty of spirit,
but we can't make anybody poor in spirit. But the Lord Jesus
Christ can. He saves you. I'm going to humble
you. I'm going to make you meek. I'm
going to make you poor in spirit. And you know what? He says, love
me with all your heart. Demands us to do that, and then
He makes us obey Him. Puts it in our heart to do it.
And oh, He breaks that stubborn will. I'll tell you something,
beloved, His grace is irresistible. And He teaches us. Here's what
I love about our Lord Jesus Christ as a prophet. He teaches us so
easily. So easily. You know, I'm a slow, slow learner. And things don't stay with me
very well. I can read something and in a
little while it's gone. But our Lord Jesus Christ teaches
us so easily. Now, us preachers and teachers,
we teach with difficulty. We teach with difficulty sometimes.
Hard for us to teach. And we certainly can't make it
effective. But our Lord Jesus Christ, when he wills to teach
a man, he just do it just like that, a snap of a finger. He'd
say, that's going to be light. Guess what? Light's coming over. And when the Lord Jesus Christ,
as our prophet teaches us, I'll tell you something else he does
for us. He makes us willing to learn. I'm willing to learn now,
ain't you? There was a time, you know, you
couldn't teach me anything. But now, Lord, I need you to
teach me everything. He says, take my yoke upon you
and learn of me. Solomon the wise man said, fools
despise instruction. But oh, he can make a man willing
to learn. I can teach and teach and teach
and teach, and men may never have a mind to learn. But boy, just in the blink of
an eye, he can make his people willing in the day of his power. Those that Christ teach, you
know what they do? They love and esteem that knowledge
of Christ above everything else. They love and esteem that knowledge
of Christ. That's why how many of you men
get up here and pray and say, Lord, give our preacher something
to say. Give the pastor something to say about Christ. Let us learn
of Christ. And here's what happened. You know, when Cornelius was
standing there, waiting on Simon Peter to get there, he said,
Here we stand, waiting for you to teach us,
tell us what God has commanded you to tell us. And that's what
we do. We come in here and, Lord, whatever
you've got, tell us. I'm going to sit here and listen.
I'm going to sit here and listen. And, O Beloved, when He teaches,
when this great prophet of God who takes the Word of God begins
to teach us, He not only gives light for our darkness, but He
gives life. He gives life. We who by nature
are dead, now who in the world is going to teach the dead? Nobody
teaches the dead. You've got to have life before
you can teach the dead. Christ says, Lazarus, come forth. He that was dead came forth.
Stop that casting. Young man, arise. Oh, my. And beloved, when He
brings life, He gives life. Well, I tell you, this sort of
brings such joy in our hearts. The Lord Jesus is the one who
has taken it upon himself to teach us. He didn't give the
angels charge to teach us. He didn't just give any man charge
to teach you. I mean, he took it up the responsibility
of teaching us upon himself, being a prophet, to tell us the
mind of God. He says, no man can come unto
the Father but by me. And he said, you know, over in
John 6, verse 44, he says, no man, no man can come unto my
Father, come unto me, except my Father which sent me draw
him. And that is written in the prophets, they shall all be taught
of God. And everyone that hath heard
and learned, come to my house. And we just keep on coming. Keep
on coming. And what in the world? You say,
boy, preacher, I'd love the Lord Jesus to be my prophet. Take
me in hand and start teaching me. How many times have I prayed
that? Lord, take us in hand and teach
us, instruct us. We're children. We'll sit at
your feet. Well, first thing you've got
to do is admit that you don't know nothing. You've got to admit
your ignorance. People don't like to admit their
ignorance. But when it comes to spiritual things and the things
of God and the things of Christ, the things of Scripture, I'm
obeyed. Lord, if you want Christ to be
your prophet and teacher, admit your ignorance. Admit you need
to be taught. And then come to Him. Come to
Him. Lord, oh Lord, I'm so ignorant. I'm
so ignorant. Lead me in Thy truth. Lead me
and teach me. You know, the disciples said,
teach us to pray. David said, Light my eyes, lest
I sleep the sleep of death. And I tell you, beloved, the
Lord Jesus Christ is willing to teach. Yes, sir. Mary said, as he speaks, Martha
comes out and says, Master, Master, don't you care? Are you so interviewed? What in the world's the matter
with you? I've got things to do in here, and I need help.
I'm trying to cook, I'm trying to clean, I'm trying to take
care of all these people around here, and there's my sister sitting
out there at your feet. Don't you care? Tell her to get
up and come help me. Martha, Martha, Martha, Martha. You've got lots of worries. You
just, oh, you're so anxious. You've got lots of worries, and
it's a good thing. But listen, Mary's chosen that
good part. I ain't fixing that part. And
God help us always to seek that good part. Seek that good part. Oh my, He opened His mouth. The first thing you read in Matthew
5.1, He opened His mouth and taught them. These thinkers,
one has having authority. And there's none of us, and this
is what I'm so grateful for. There's none of us so slow and
none of us so eager that the Lord Jesus can't teach us. None of us are so slow and so
ignorant that the Lord can't teach us. And let me tell you, if you want
the Lord Jesus to teach you more, well, walk according to the knowledge
He's already given you, and He'll give you more. And oh, if the
Lord Jesus has saved you and taught you, be thankful. Be thankful. Be thankful. You know, in Old
Sparrows, he's come to that man that was born blind, said to
him, said, Well, this man, this man's a sinner, you know, he's
not a God. That blind man said, I know this, this is what I do
know. I was blind. Now I see. And this is the man
who done it. It's the one who done it. It's
the one who done it. And our Lord Jesus Christ is
the only one that can do it. And oh, Lord, walk with us and
take us at hand and teach us, teach us. Our Father, oh gracious, gracious
God, thank You for the Lord Jesus Christ, for raising Him up to
be a prophet, for giving Him charge Give Him the position,
give Him the authority and the power to take your children and
to make your mind and your will and your purpose known to us,
known to your children. And Lord Jesus, we thank You
that You come and You not only open the Scriptures, but You
open our understanding to them. We're not only thankful, Lord
Jesus, The Word's about you, but you teach us the Word about
yourself. Father, bless these dear saints
as they go to their homes, to their work, to school, the things
that they do. Keep them and preserve them.
And again, pray for these dear brethren as they labor in the
Word this Lord's Day. We thank you in Christ's name.
Amen. Amen.
