But it says here in verse 9, that if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
And it says over here in verse 13, for whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I want to talk about
when a man confesses Christ as Lord, confesses Christ as Lord. Now, the Scripture says in 1
Corinthians 12, 3, that no man calleth Jesus the Lord, but by
the Holy Ghost. I mean knows that he is Jehovah,
knows that he is God. Only, no man can call him Lord. Lord. ruler, sustainer, desperate. You know, and there's been arguments
over whether a person can be saved and Christ be the Lord
or not. That's been going on forever. I know that there's been times,
and they still do it, that they say, you know, you can get saved
and then, you know, you may not live a very dedicated life, committed
life, and you won't until you let Jesus be Lord. You know that
you have to make Him Lord. He saves you, but yet you have
to make Him Lord. You have to let Him have control
of your life. But I tell you this, that the Lord Jesus is
the one who has the right to rule, and there is no limit to
that right. No limit to that right. Now look
over here in Romans 14 with me, in verse 7. You know, the Lord Jesus Himself
said this, He says, God, He says, He hath given him all power,
all power, all power, over all flesh, all flesh. And the reason He
gave it to him that he might give or should give eternal life
to everyone that the Father gave. Now that means that He is the
power over you right now. He has the power over my children,
my grandchildren. And He has the right to rule
over them and dispose of them and do with them as seems good
in His sight. I believe that with all my heart.
I believe that with all my heart. But it says here in Romans 14,
7, For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. What
does that mean? That means, beloved, We're going
to all have to answer to somebody. We're all going to have to answer
to somebody when it's all said and done. Whether we live, we
live under the Lord. Or whether we die, we die under
the Lord. Whether we live, therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. We
are the Lord's. And watch what it says. But to
this end, Christ both died and rose and revived again, that
he might be Lord both of the dead and the living. He's Lord
over those who are still yet dead in their sins, and He's
Lord over those that He's quickened and given life to. Now, He's
Lord over all of us. Now, that's what that's telling
us here. And that's why He says, Thy throne, O God, is forever
and ever. Talking about the Lord Jesus
Christ. And upon His shoulders is the government, and of His
government there shall be no end. And you know He says that
all things must be put under His feet, must reign till all
things are put under His feet. The Father loveth the Son, and
hath given all things, all things into His hands. Now, some people
seem to think, and they have this idea, and it's a false conception. It's a heresy. It's a thing that
this generation has been thrown a curveball on, and they believe
it. They seem to think that they can be in a kingdom without a
king. But now, if you're in a kingdom,
and there's a king that rules over that kingdom, if you're
in his kingdom, you may be a rebel. You may not like his rule, but
either you're going to bow to his rule and submit to his rule
and love his rule, or else he's going to punish you as a rebel
and dispose of you because you are a rebel. Now, ain't that
right? He's still king, whether you
like it or not, whether you want to bow to him or not. Whether
you like his rule or not, he's still king. And like I said,
our Lord Jesus Christ is the one who has the right to rule,
and there's no limit to that right. There's no limit to that
right. This idea, you know, that Jesus
is the Savior, and then, you know, you come along later and
you give him the right to be your Lord. Or you know that if
you start towards Him, He'll start towards you. That is born
to the Scriptures as the Son standing still today. But not
only does He have that right, but He exercises that right. Over in Mark chapter 3, it says,
He went unto a mountain, and what does it say there? He called
unto Him whom He would. He called unto Him whom He would.
And that's when the disciples were called disciples. That's
when they became apostles. And he exercised that right,
but also not only that, by whom he called. He said, no you're
not. You've not chosen me. But I've chosen you. Isn't that
what he says when he calls Zacchaeus out of that tree? As far as we
know, that's the only person that was saved that day when
he passed through Jericho. He called, Zacchaeus! He didn't
call in those other people in them trees. There was all crowd
around him. As long as that gas he called out of that tree. There
was multitudes of Pharisees. It was Pharisees that falsely
accused him. It was Pharisees that paid 30
pieces of silver. It was Pharisees that hired Judas
to betray him. It was Pharisees that turned
him over to Pilate. And yet Paul was a Pharisee of
Pharisees, but God put Paul in the dust and says, Lord, what
will you have me to do? And oh, and I tell you, he exorcised
that right by whom he healed. He went there to the pool of
Bethesda one day, and there was infinite people all over the
place. All of them trying to get in that pool while the water
was being troubled. All over the place. But the Lord
Jesus stopped and spoke to one man. One man and all their people
around that pool. Crowd around there. The Lord
Jesus done something for one man. One man. And that's what our Lord said.
There were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, but Elijah
was only sent to one. Many, many lepers in Elisha's
time, but Elisha was only sent to one. And, oh, beloved, he
has power. He exercises his right over power,
over life and death. You know how many people were
dead and died the day that Lazarus died? You know how many people
were put in the grave the day that Lazarus was put in his grave? But Martha Mary said, he whom
thou lovest is sick. And he said, well, we'll just
wait until he dies, and you'll see that this is for the glory
of God. There was lots of folks died that day. But Christ only
called laughers from the dead. And He called him by his name.
Called him by his name. And not only that, beloved, but
He only, you know, He exercises that right when He prays. When
he prayed in John 17, you know what he says? He says, Father,
I pray not for the world. I'm not praying for this world.
I didn't come to save this world. I didn't come to make salvation
possible for everybody. I didn't come to open a door
for salvation for people. I didn't come to gamble and people
just give me an opportunity to change. He said, I pray not for
the world. But I tell you what I'm praying
for. I'm praying for those that God has given me. That you keep them. So he exercises that right. And,
oh beloved, this idea, and I say it's an awful, it's a horrible
thing, fundamentalist, I can remember I despised it years
ago, and I still despise it, to say you can be saved or bow
and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ later is a damnable
doctrine. But the Scriptures teaches, the
Scriptures teaches that a man bows to the Lord Jesus Christ,
Because he is saint. I mean, the moment he sees Christ
as Lord, he bows right then and there. Isaiah said, I saw the
Lord. What did he do? He bowed and
said, what was unto me? When John saw Him in His glory,
he just fell as a dead man. When Paul saw Him on the Damascus
road, the first word out of his mouth was, Lord! And oh, beloved, that thief on
the cross, you know what he said? When God gave him eyes to see
where he was at and what he was and who his Savior was, he looked
over to the Lord Jesus Christ and said, Lord, when you come into your kingdom,
would you remember me? So what is it? What is it to
bow to the Lordship of Christ? What is it to confess Jesus Christ
as Lord? This is what it says here in
verse 9 of Romans 10, that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. So what is it
to bow to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and what is it to confess
Him as Lord? What is it? I've got several
things to say about it. The first is this, the man, that
man or woman who says he believes in the Lord Jesus, by saying
that, is saying, and when he says that I confess Jesus Christ
as Lord, as my Savior, as my Redeemer, in saying that, he
recognizes in the Lord Jesus Christ, one who has no rights,
one in whom he has no rights, no claims to. And that he is
the Lord Jesus' property, body, soul, and spirit to be disposed
of as he pleases. He understands when I confess
Christ as Lord, that I see him as Lord, that I have no right
over him. I have no right to him, I have
no claim to him, and yet I know that I'm his property, body,
soul, and spirit, and he can do with me as he will. I mean,
we see that. We understand that. We bow to
that. I mean, beloved, He says, you
know, when our Lord Jesus had those people come out and go
to work for Him, in that parable, He says the first fellow comes
out at six, gets a penny, nine gets a penny, noon gets a penny,
three gets a penny, five gets a penny, and that last fellow
comes in there, and he comes up, he's worked an hour, and
he's the first in line to get his pay. They give him a penny,
and that fellow in the back goes, wait a minute. This destroys this idea of rewards
that happen. Somebody's going to get something
more than anybody else is. Wait a minute. Listen, we've been working since
6 o'clock this morning, and you're giving this fellow work an hour,
the same thing we did? He says, surely, surely, we're
going to get more stars. You got to give us more than
you gave him. And he says, is it not lawful
for me to do what I will with mine own? Is your eye evil because
I'm good? You're going to consider me evil
because I'll treat a man the way I want to treat you? Was
not all the pennies mine? Was it not I that put you in
the vineyard? Did you not agree to it? So why are you finding
fault with me? You're the one that's got the
evil eye. You're the one that's full of pride. You're the one
that's full of self-righteousness. You're the one that feels like
somebody owes you something because you've done something more than
somebody else did. He said, it's all mine and I'll
do what I want to with it. And that's what he meant with
the last shall be first and the first is going to end up being
last. Go ahead and be first. Everybody says, I want to be
first. Listen, go ahead and be first. Go ahead and brag on yourself. Go ahead and put yourself forward.
Go ahead and tell everybody what a good teller you are. Go ahead
and tell everybody all the good things you do. Go ahead and tell
everybody how fine you are and all the work you've done. Just
go ahead and do that. And God's going to take everybody
that ain't nothing and nobody and give them their penny. And
because you've got an evil eye, you're going to be last. Ain't
that right? Oh, my. Look over here in Matthew
chapter 8 with me just a moment. I want you to see this. Here's
a perfect illustration, biblical illustration of what I'm talking
about. You know, that woman, that Syro-Phoenician
woman had the devil, the daughter, Vex was the devil. She brought
her daughter to the Lord. And the first thing out of her
mouth says, Lord, Lord, Lord, my daughter is grievously vexed
with the devil. Would you have mercy on her?
You don't owe it to her. You certainly don't owe me anything.
But would you have mercy? Would you just have mercy? Look
here in Matthew. Here's what I'm talking about.
Matthew chapter 8. And when he was come down from
the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And behold, there
came a leper. Now watch this. And worshipped
him, saying, first word out of his mouth, Lord, if you will, you're the one with
all the power. You're the one with the rights.
I'm the one with the problem. I'm the leper. I'm the one unclean. I'm the filthy one. Lord, if
you will, you can make me clean. You can. I mean, I'm in your
hands to do with me as you please. I'm a leper. What claim do I
have on it? I have no claim on the law. The
Lord doesn't pronounce me unclean. Nobody has nothing to do with
me. I'm filthy. And he said, Lord, the first
word out of his mouth, Lord, if you will, you can make me
clean. And Jesus put forth His hand and touched him saying,
And I love this, I will! I will! And I'll tell you what
he says, I will. It's done. Be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy departed
from him. So what I'm telling you is, if
you say, if you confess with your mouth, and you believe in
your heart that Jesus Christ is your Lord, your Savior, you're
saying that you recognize in Him One in whom you have no right,
no claim, and He can do with you body, soul, and spirit as
He will. Here's the second thing. He that
says he has faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and confesses that,
says that he has no faith in himself. Ain't that right? When you say you have faith in
Him, that means you have no faith in yourself. When you recognize
Him to be your Lord, that means that you give up all rights to
yourself. And that's what I'm telling you,
beloved, He has no faith in Himself. I mean, what can we do? I have no faith in my faith. I have no faith in my Bible reading. I have no faith in my prayers.
I do not recognize in me that there's nothing. Absolutely not
a zero, nothing. Huh? No, that's what Paul said. He said, I was really somebody
in my day. Folks looked at me and they said,
boy, you're something. I'm telling you, if anybody goes
to heaven, you're going to go. I ain't no whip-edge or much
about it. You are something. I've never
seen anybody like you. So much zeal, so much dedication,
so much commitment, so much law-keeping, so much righteousness,
so much work, and so much prayer, and so much giving. I tell you,
you must be something. And Paul said, Oh, I was. And
then he comes, he says, oh my, but you know what I found out?
When I seen the Lord Jesus Christ on the Damascus road, when he
opened my eyes and I looked up and I seen Jesus of Nazareth,
the man I hated, despised and persecuted and blasphemed, he
said, oh, he said, I count every bit of my righteousness before
that. I count every bit of my works. I count every thought that I
ever had of my own that was good. I count every feeling that I
had that I trusted in. I count everything that I ever
done as nothing but dumb and garbage. Oh, I'm nothing. I'm nobody. I lost all confidence
in myself and in my place. And now I have no confidence
in nobody but Him. I want to be found in Him. Amen. Glory. Don't you despise, don't
you just despise yourself when you start thinking that you've
got something, know something? Whew! Paul said another time,
he said, you know, he said, I have these great visions. He said,
but you know what I found out? He found out that who is sufficient
for these things. Who's sufficient for these things?
Who made me to differ? He says, I found out that when
I'm weak, that I'm strong. How in the world does that work?
The world tells you got to be strong. Be strong. Keep a stiff
upper lip. Don't give in. Keep on keeping
on. Go on. I quit keeping on years
and years ago. I trust Him. I trust Him. I trust Him. If I'm going to
make it tomorrow, He's going to want to keep me and make it
tomorrow. I've lost all confidence in myself. You know, I have confidence
in you. Now, don't misunderstand me.
As believers, as brothers and sisters, people that I love,
I've got confidence in you. Perfections, I've got confidence
in you. But yet, I don't have confidence in you in the sense
that I would ever trust you for anything about my own soul. Now, is that not right? That's what I'm talking about.
Oh, when I'm weak, I'm strong. That don't even make sense. How
can you be weak? We have got no strength left
whatsoever, and then you're strong. How can, when you have nothing,
absolutely have nothing, and know nothing, have everything,
and know all things at the same time? In the Lord Jesus. Oh, here's the third thing. He
that says that Jesus is his Lord tells me, tells me, that all
his righteousness is absolutely useless. Ain't that what is said
here in the beginning of this chapter? Romans chapter 10. Brethren, the harsh desire and
prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. For I bear them record, I go
on record before God, go on record before them, before you, that
they have a zeal of God. I mean, they're very zealous
for God. I'm telling you, they pray on
the street corners, they carry their Bibles with them, I mean,
everywhere they go, when they're walking down the street, they
got their Bible under their arm. They got it where everybody can
see it. They got bumper stickers on their cars, you know, Hulk,
if you love Jesus. They got crosses around their
neck. I mean, these folks, they got pictures of Wild Bill Hickok
up on the wall calling Jesus. And oh, beloved, they buy them
records. Oh, listen, but their zeal for God is not according
to knowledge. They don't know anything about
the righteousness of God. They don't know anything about
the Lord Jesus Christ. They don't know anything about
God's righteousness. How do you know they don't? They're
ignorant of it. Why do you know they're ignorant
of it? They're establishing their own. They're establishing their own.
They're building their house. They're building their own house.
They're building their own house. And I'll tell you, beloved, Listen,
the scripture says our righteousness is as our as a filthy rag. And
here's the thing about it. Have you ever been around homeless
people and seen their old rags and smell them and then, you
know, they get stinking and all that? Well, they can all live
together because they all smell the same and they all, you know,
but they think they're dressed all right, you know. But here
comes a fella and he's got all these rags and he thinks he's
dressed real good. But everybody else in the same rags, and he
don't know any difference. And that's the way people in
this, they trust in their own rights. They're dressed in filthy
rags, awful rags, dung-covered rags, and they don't know it
because they're all dressed the same. And they all got to live
in the same houses. They all got the foundations
leaning this way and that way and got cracks in the walls.
And they all live in the same houses and they think they're
okay because they don't know what it is to be built on a rock. They don't know what it is to
be clothed with the righteousness of Christ. And, beloved, when
you see the Lord Jesus Christ and His righteousness, you see
immediately, oh my! What awful, awful, awful righteousness! Oh, how awful that I ever thought
that I had a righteousness! How blasphemous is that I ever
thought that I had a righteousness that I could come before God
with? Huh? Look what it says over here.
Oh, listen, look what it says over here in Philippians with
me just a moment. Philippians 3. Let's look at Philippians 3 a
minute. That's what Paul went on to say
there. Oh, these people, they're going
about to establish their own righteousness. And all you've
got to do to find out whether a fellow trusts in his own righteousness
or not, start belittling him. Start telling him how sorry he
is. You say, why does the world make you think
you're anybody? Who do you think you are? And they'll tell you
right quick who they think they are, what their day is. But you tell a believer who you
think you are, I'm nobody. I'm just a zero. I'm nothing
until you put Christ in the equation. I mean, that is actually our
heart's belief. That's what we really know we
are. We're like Jacob. Who am I but dust and ashes to
speak to you? Dust and ashes to speak to you.
We're like Mephibosheth when he went into David's presence.
Why shouldst thou look upon such a dead dog as I? Huh? And Paul says you're in Philippians
3.5. Watch what I'm talking about.
He says, you know, I was circumcised the eighth day of the stock of
Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin. I was a Hebrew of the Hebrews.
Mama and daddy both full-blooded. As touching the law, I was a
Pharisee. Concerning zeal, I persecuted
the church. Touching the righteousness which
is in the law, blameless. Oh, but all these things that
were gained to me, I counted lost for Christ. Yea, doubtless,
I count all things, all things but loss. All those things are
loss. For the excellency of the knowledge
of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom, for whom I have suffered
the loss of all things, and do count them but done, that I may
win Christ. And I'll love this, be found
in Him. Now God's going to find us in
one of two places. Going to find us either in Christ
or in Adam. Going to find us in the righteousness
of Christ or find us in our own. And I tell you what, men don't
mind giving up sins. They don't mind giving up sins.
Stopping doing bad things. But only God can make a man part
with his righteousness. The last thing he'll give up
is that righteousness. But he will give it up. He will
give it up. I mean, he'll give it up, and
he'll be so glad that he did, and he'll never want it back. Never want it back. And he'd
be found in Him not having my own righteousness, because that's
of the law. But he said, I want that righteousness
which is through the faith of Christ. The righteousness of
God which is of faith. That I may know Him. That I may
experience the power of His resurrection. That I might live by His life. Oh, and that's what he says,
for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone
that believes. Oh, my. Oh, you say, I confess
Jesus Christ as Lord. When you do that, you're telling
me that your righteousness is as a filthy rag, useless. That
God made Christ unto you, your wisdom, your righteousness, your
sanctification, your redemption. That God made Christ unto you,
the righteousness of God in Him. Huh? And let me tell you this
quickly, and to stay in Philippians 3, I should have just told you
to stay there, but that man who confesses Christ as Lord tells
me, tells me and tells everybody else that he has no confidence
in the flesh and that he cannot, cannot save himself. Huh? Ain't that what it says here
again? There's three things about the believer here in Philippians
3. Three things about him. I mean, you know, Paul said,
I know that is in me, in my flesh. Well, it's no good thing. How
to perform? You know, the will is present
with me, but how to perform, I know not how. I mean, he has
no confidence in his power. He cannot save himself, no confidence
in his flesh. And look what he says here in
Philippians 3. There's three things about the
true believer. First of all, we're the circumcision. We're
the true circumcision. God, first and foremost, He cleansed
our heart. That's the first thing God does.
He takes out the stony heart and puts in a heart of flesh.
He takes out the foul spirit and puts in a new spirit. Takes
away the carnal mind and gives you a spiritual mind. Takes out
The will that's resisting Him that makes you will in the day
of His power. We are the circumcision. God
has cleansed us. And the first thing we do, we
worship God in the Spirit. We don't have to have music. We don't have to have hand clapping.
We don't have to have flag waving. We don't have to have aisle runnings.
We don't have to have testimonies. This flesh, the less involved
in it is in the worship service, the purer the worship. We don't
have to have a flesh rag doll. We don't have to have special
days for mommas and daddies and babies and grandmas and old folks
and young folks. We don't have to have birthday
parades. We don't have to have none of that stuff. We don't
have to have a thousand announcements. Don't have to sell wicks to get
your name on it. No. We worship God in the Spirit. If we worship God, it's from
our spirit to His spirit. The Holy Spirit works in us to
worship God in the Spirit. The less flesh and blood in it,
the more. That's why we keep it just as
simple as we can. Everybody else got another song.
Get all hearts and minds clear. I hope our hearts and minds clear
when we come into the presence of God, that it's clear of everything. But the Lord Jesus Christ, we
worship God in the spirit. That's what our Lord Jesus Christ
said. He said, God is a spirit. And they that worship him must
worship him in spirit. Let's go over on this mountain
and worship. That's what our fathers did. Let's go over here
and worship. That's the way they done it. Start at this altar.
That's where God meets us over there. Most folks, when they
come here out of a typical Baptist church or Camelot or anything
else, they come in here and say, God's not in this place. I don't know how many people
say that because we have nothing to cater to the flesh. What do
we have to cater to this flesh? What do we have that caters to
the flesh? We have no instruments. We have no big jumbotron up here. You certainly ain't got much
of a preacher, much of a personality. Hollers at you, points at you,
screams at you. So you know if you're going to
worship God, you're certainly going to have to worship human
spirits. I don't brag on you. I call you
sinners, worms, grasshoppers. Oh, we worship God. That's the
first thing about us. Oh, we have no confidence in
this flesh. And listen, not only that, but look what else it says,
that we rejoice in Christ Jesus. Oh, won't you rejoice in Him,
in the Lord Jesus Christ? Why, He did all, all to Him alone. Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow. Dressed in His righteousness
alone, fall as to stand before His throne. Wherein God has made
us accepted in the Beloved. This is the Son of my love. Rejoice
in Christ Jesus. Rejoice in His person. Rejoice
in His blood. Rejoice in His righteousness. Rejoice in His justification. Rejoice in His forgiveness. Rejoice
in His power to keep us. Rejoice in His sustaining. Rejoice
in His promises. We rejoice in Christ Jesus. And here's the next thing. And
have no confidence in flesh. Oh, boy. I'm going to give you an illustration
of somebody who's got confidence in the flesh. Years and years ago, I was preaching
and a fellow walked in with his finger stuck in his Bible. He said, I've got a message Now, that's confidence in the
flesh. One time, Brother Henry, Mayhem, was sitting on the front
pew. He was going to preach. He'd done preached a couple of
times. A fellow sat down beside him and said, Brother Henry,
if you don't feel like you can handle the service today, he
said, I'll be glad to take your place. Now, that's confidence
in the flesh. My brother said, oh, I believe
God will enable me. That's confidence in the flesh.
Confidence in the flesh, he said, boy, I wish that fellow sat down
so I could say it so much better than him. I don't know why the world makes
some people think they can sing. I can sing circles around. That's
confidence in the flesh. That's no wonder Paul said he
was sufficient for these things. You men know, you know wisdom
experience. And that's the difference between
people that have confidence in the flesh and people that don't.
If you're on the schedule to get up here and read the scriptures
and lead in prayer, your mouth gets as dry as cotton done. And
you get up here and you just tremble inside and you shake.
And you wonder, what am I going to pray? And you think, boy,
am I going to be praying to impress these people? Am I going to read
some scriptures just to show them? And you go through all
this stuff. And you get up here, and by the
time you get up here, your knees is knocking again. And you know,
now ain't that right? So that's three things. Have
no confidence in the flesh. We worship God the Spirit and
rejoice in Christ Jesus. Let me hurry here. All right. That man that's saying that the
Lord Jesus, and then he confesses Him, is saying that He is the
Lord and Jesus. The man confessing with his mouth
the Lord Jesus Christ, bleeds in his heart and confesses with
his mouth. He said that he's both Lord and Jesus. Now what do I mean by that? He
said that he's both God, that he's the Lord. He's God. He's got all the power. He's
got all the authority. He has all the right. And bless
His holy name. He is Jesus, the man who came
into this world. to save his people from their
sins. And that, beloved, it takes God
and man both to save man. As God, He got the power to save
me. As God, He had the power to die
on my body. As God, He had the power to satisfy
God. As God, He had the power to bear
the wrath of God. But as a man, He bore our sin. As a man, He obeyed the law. As a man, He suffered. As a man,
He bore our guilt. As a man, He bore our sin. And
as a man, He identified with us and was able to die. And we
confess that God is able to save us. As man, He identifies with
us. And as a man, He carried our griefs. As a man, He carried
our trials. As a man, He obeyed the law. As a man, He bore our sins. And as a man, now we come to
Him. God and man. God to keep us and
sustain us. than man who can be touched with
the feelings of our infirmity. Bless his name. And let me tell
you this, back over here in Romans 10, that man who confesses and
says that Jesus Christ is Lord and he believes Him and confesses
Him as his Master, as his Lord, he tells me, he tells me and
tells the world and tells everybody else when he confesses that he's
been brought face to face with the essential truth with the
essential truth now, that if he's ever saved, the God-man
will have to save him, and that he alone can save him. Not only
can he save him, but if he is saved in the end, he's going
to have to do that too. That's why we don't go back to
an old experience. This idea, you know, that I was
saved back there, you know, and on this altar, and I felt these
bumps, and I saw this light, and I felt so light and all that,
and you've got to go keep running back to an experience. Listen,
we're brought face-to-face every single day that if God don't
save us and Christ don't save us, there's no hope for us. I
mean, brought face-to-face with that over and over and over again. Now, ain't you brought face-to-face
with that? Lord, save me. Lord, save me. Lord, save me. How many times
have you sat in your living room? Lord, save me. Sit on your back
porch. Lord, save me. Lord, if you don't
say, oh Lord, I want you, I need you, please don't leave me to
myself. Please don't let me go. Please forgive me. Oh God, don't
let my flesh roll over me. We're brought face to face with
that. And that's an essential truth. I mean, that's not one of these
things that you put on the back burner every once in a while,
just, you know, that we're saved and we're fixed up for eternity.
I mean, we are, we have been saved, we are being saved, and
bless His holy name, we shall be saved. Our salvation is nearer
than when we believed. Now, do I have confidence that
He'll do it? I do. Why do I have confidence that
He'll do it? Because He has. And He promised
me. And He told me. He is able to
save to the uttermost, uttermost, I mean from the lowest to the
greatest extent, them that come unto God by Him. And Lord, here
I come. And I'm coming to God, O Lord.
Father, I'm coming to You. And I'm coming by Him. In His
name, in His power, in His righteousness. I ain't coming. I dare not. I
just ain't coming. I ain't coming if I can't come.
You know it's one of the bones of sin. Lord, don't carry something
unless you go with it. Lord, I'm not coming unless Christ
come with me. And look over here in Romans
10, and I'll tell you this. Look down there in verse 11.
Romans 10, 11. That man who confesses Christ
as his Lord, and submits to him, and acknowledges that, shall
not be ashamed, or be brought to shame, or confounded. Look
what it says. For the scripture saith, Whosoever
believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Now when it says that,
that don't mean you know the business that we're not ashamed
of him before other people. That means that we shall be brought
to shame when we face God. Shall not be confounded. And
I tell you what, we'll not be brought to shame before God.
God's got more to lose if Christ saves us And Christ died for
us, and Christ washed us in His blood, and God gave us to Him.
If God let one for whom Christ died perish, then God loses His
honor, and His glory, and His truth. He'd lose me. So you see, we'll not be brought
to shame. When we face God, we won't be
ashamed. And before the law, are you ashamed
before the law? Huh? You can give me the Ten Commandments
right now. I'm not ashamed before them.
Thou shalt have no dogma for me. I don't. Just go through all of them.
You say, well, you know, you've committed all of them. I'm not
ashamed. And I won't be brought to shame
when I face God. God opens the books. Why won't
we? Christ is the end of the law
for righteousness, not for the fellow that does, but for the
fellow that believes. What does he believe? That Jesus
Christ is Lord, believes that in his heart, confesses Him to
be Lord, and knows that God raised Him from the dead, and the only
righteousness you have is His. And I tell you, I'm not ashamed
before my conscience. I won't be brought to shame before
my conscience. And when God brings us before
the world, we won't be brought to shame before the world. No, I'm not ashamed before the
world. Are you? Let me tell you something. There were some folks
who were brought to shame. Do you remember that over in Matthew
7? When they said, Lord, we've done all these wonderful works,
done all these wonderful works, done all these wonderful works,
and the Lord Jesus says unto them, depart from me. You're
talking about confounded and ashamed. brought to shame, then
shamed before their own confession, shamed before all the people
that they've confessed for, shamed before God, shamed before their
own consciousness, shamed before the Word. Depart from me, you
workers of iniquity, I never knew you. But that man who confesses
and believes within his heart and acknowledges Christ, he's
everything and all things, He said, that man won't be brought
to shame. He'll never hear those words, depart from me, you workers.
You know what he's going to hear? Come thou, thou blessed of the
Lord, enter into the joy of the Lord. Amen. Our Father, O our Father, in
the blessed name of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, Thank
you for the day. Thank you for your blessed gospel.
Thank you for the truth as it is in Christ. Oh, God, how thankful
we are. Oh, how grateful, how blessed
we are. And, Lord, it's all because of
you. You did it, Lord. You did it all. Not unto us,
O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name be glory. Oh, Lord Jesus,
we again acknowledge we need You, but also at the same time
we want You. Oh, how we desire You. We desire
to know You. Desire to honor You. Desire to
bow to You. Desire to do Your will. Desire
in our hearts to love You. Desire in our hearts to love
Your people. Desire in our hearts to love Your Word. desire in our hearts to be a
people that says, Oh, God's not ashamed to be called their God. In our Lord Jesus' name we bless
you. Amen. Amen. You say, Preacher, I'll believe
everything you said today. Well, I'll tell you what, if
you've never confessed Christ before, that now would be a good
time to do it. I know it all Jesus paid it all
All the good he's done, I know And a crimson stain, ye marbles,
in white as snow. Lord, Thou indeed art kind, kind
Thou, and I love Thee. Jesus paid it all, all to Him
I owe. Saved and left a crimson stain to be worn in white as
snow. I've washed my garbage by the
blood of Calvary's Lamb He sustained all, all the weight of my own Brings some things they want
and why they should know.
