Well, our speaker this evening
is no stranger to us, Pastor Marvin Stoniker, pastor of the
Katie Baptist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia. And we're so delighted
his dear wife, Glenda, could come with him this time. I don't
imagine there's another local church that we go further back
with than Katie Baptist Church. We have been friends a long,
long time. Marvin is such a dear friend of mine, and I know I
don't, I'm not, by any stretch of the imagination alone in saying
that. I told his son Gabe one time,
I said, I know everybody's got to tell you this, but just what
a special, special friend your dad is to me. And he said, well,
you're right. I hear that a lot. So I know
I'm not, I'm far from alone in that, but Marvin, I'm so thankful
for you. Thank you for your friendship
and your faithfulness. Your ability to preach the gospel
and your faith and your willingness to come preached us tonight.
So you come and preach the message God's laid on your heart. It's a very humbling introduction. I'm so thankful to be here. I too I thank the Lord for this
privilege to be with you. The thought of being able to
stand before a people everlastingly loved of God, which I'm convinced
many such sit here this evening, that the Lord Jesus Christ would
come into this world be made in the likeness of sinful flesh,
lay down His life for sinners such as we, and then allow us the glorious privilege
to be able to know it, to teach us. I pray that the Lord have
mercy on us tonight and help us, help us to worship. It is such a joy to be with you. I'm going to ask you to take
your Bibles and turn back to the passage that Brother Frank
read lastly. Genesis chapter 27. Amazing passage of Scripture. I was talking with your pastor
a few weeks ago and I looked back on some notes that I preached
21 years ago. And I preached out of this passage
of scripture 21 years ago. And it just blessed my heart. And I was talking to Brother
Frank about it. And the next thing I know, I was going over
the notes again, then redoing the notes. And then here I am. I'd like for us to consider this
subject this evening, Esau. a picture of Christ. That's a
title that stirs my heart. I think about our Lord as He
walked with two on the road to Emmaus. And after they had told
Him a few things, asking whether or not he was even from around
that part of the country. Surely you must not be from around
here if you have not heard of Jesus of Nazareth. He was crucified three days ago,
they said. And we surely thought that he
was the Christ. It's been three days, they said. old fools and slow of heart to
believe all the things written. And beginning with Moses in the
book of Genesis and in all the prophets, he expounded unto them
in all the scriptures those things concerning himself. This evening,
I'd like for us to look for a few minutes at this blessed passage
of Scripture. I asked Brother Frank to read
verses 1 to 29. The Scripture declares that Rebecca,
she had two boys. Genesis 25 tells of her situation. before these two boys were born. And the Scriptures declares,
after Isaac, her husband, had prayed and asked the Lord for
a blessing upon his wife, she was barren, the Lord was entreated,
the Scripture says, verse 21, of him, and Rebekah conceived. And the Scripture says, Verse
22, the children struggled. Now that word struggled right
there is more than just, and you ladies know a whole lot more
about this than I do. This wasn't just a little kick
every once in a while. Oh, I think I felt him though.
I think, yeah, I think he did. No, this, this word right here,
there was a battle that was going on and it was more than just
a little nudge. There was a war going on. The children struggled together
within her, and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the
Lord. And here's what the Lord told
Rebekah about her two children. The Lord said unto her, Two nations
are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated
from thy bowels, and the one people shall be stronger than
the other, and the elder shall serve the younger. Now, that
terminology right there was explained by the Spirit of God through
the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 9. When we hear that, the elder
shall serve the younger. What does that mean? Okay, the
elder. I know the elder was to get everything,
I understand. But what exactly did the Lord
mean that Rebecca surely understood? What did He mean when He said,
the elder shall serve the younger? Well, Romans chapter 9 and verse
11. The scripture sets forth here
again, the Spirit of God speaking through the Apostle Paul. And
He says, for the children, being not yet born, neither having
done any good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to
election, might stand. Not of works, but of him that
calleth. It was said unto her, the elder
shall serve the younger. And the Spirit of God moved upon
the Apostle Paul to write this next verse of Scripture that
she might understand and we might understand. exactly what the
Lord meant. As it is written, Jacob have
I loved, but Esau have I hated. Now Rebecca knew exactly what
the Lord was saying. He was talking to a mother, but
a mother that knew God and a mother that believed God. The scripture
begins back in Genesis 27, and Isaac, her husband, has told
their oldest son, Esau. They were twins. Esau was born
first. He was the firstborn. He was
the elder. He was the one that was traditionally
to get the blessing. He was going to receive the blessing,
that blessing that was carried down from Abraham to Isaac, from
Isaac to... Everybody would have thought
it would have been Esau, firstborn. Through Esau, in Isaac's mind,
is going to come the Messiah. Messiah is going to come through
Esau. Esau is going to be the one that will lead, come in to
the promised land and inherit that land of promise, that land
that pictured glory itself. That's going to be Esau. You're
going to have the birthright. You've got the birthright. You're
going to be the one through your loins shall come the Messiah. God had told Rebecca, the elder
is going to serve the younger. And Rebecca knew, according to
the word of the Lord, what was going to happen. So she heard
her husband say to Esau, go kill a deer, get some venison and
make that savory meat such as I love. Bring it to me and I'm
going to bless you. I'm going to give you the blessing
that I received from my father, Abraham. I'm going to give it
to you. But she told Jacob, upon hearing
that, he said, my son, I want you to go and kill a couple of
goats. You bring them back to me. And
I'm going to make savory meat such as your father loves. I
want you to go in and you get the blessing. And Jacob questioned
what she was saying. And he said, I'm a smooth man. My brother's a hairy man. My
father is going to feel me. He's going to touch me. He's
going to know I'm not Esau. I'm not Esau. And she said, I'm
going to take Esau's garment. And I'm going to take Esau's
goodly garment. I'm going to put that goodly
garment on you. And she took the skins of those
goats that she'd killed. She put him on his hands, on
his arms, like that, prepared that savory meat. And she said,
now, I want you to take this and you go before your father
and you receive that blessing. Now, here's where we pick up.
I want to pick up on Jacob actually coming before Isaac, his father. His eyes are dim. He can't see. He's going to come and he's going
to stand before his dad. His dad is going to stand to
give the blessing to Esau. Now listen, I'm going to just
go ahead and just tell you, you know where I'm going. I don't
have to tell you. Esau is a picture of Christ here. Isaac is a picture of the Father.
Rebekah is a picture of the Holy Spirit. The one who instructs
Jacob on how this sinner is going to receive the blessing of God.
The only way that you're going to receive the blessing of God.
And she tells him, you do exactly what I say. And Rebecca robed
Jacob, the object of God's mercy. The one that God almighty said,
I love Jacob. Jacob, I'm going to bless. Jacob's
going to get the blessing. Messiah is going to come through
Jacob. And Rebecca knew that. And so she gives that robe, those
skins, and now here is this sinner, a picture of all of us. Here's
the only way set forth in these scriptures, these scriptures
that the Lord Jesus told those two on the road to Emmaus, these
scriptures that speaks of Him. You tell me one more time, tell
me one more time, how How is this sinner going to be blessed
of God? How is this sinner going to have
any hope in the Lord Jesus Christ? The Scripture says, verse 18
and 19, And he came unto his father, and he said, My father. And he said, Isaac said, Here
am I. Who art thou, my son? And Jacob
said unto his father, I am Esau. thy firstborn. I have done according
as thou badest me. Arise, I pray thee, sit and eat
of my venison, that thy soul may bless me." Now, here's Jacob,
by the instruction of his mother, a picture of the Holy Spirit. And I want us to all understand
exactly what's going on here. Humanly speaking, we're looking
at a picture. We're looking at a type. We're
looking at a shadow. But it's a shadow that's got
a heavenly meaning. A heavenly, glorious meaning. But humanly speaking, there is
absolutely no way that we can conclude or reconcile this tactic
that was used as being honorable. Isaac is standing before one
that he believes is Esau. And Jacob, when Isaac asked him,
Jacob says, I am Esau, your firstborn, and I have done as you have bid
me. I've killed the venison. Prepared
it, and now I'm standing before you. Here's the first thing we're
going to realize. Jacob, as a picture of the vessel
of God's mercy, is a sinner. He's a liar. He's a cheat. He's a conniver. And that's you,
and that's me. That's what we are. Let's just
go ahead and just realize who is standing before Isaac, his
daddy. a liar. Who is Esau purposing
to bless? I mean Isaac. Who is Isaac purposing
to bless? Esau. Who's going to get the
blessing? Jacob. Whose purpose that Jacob
gets the blessing? God Almighty. So when we look
and see what's going on and realizing who is speaking, let's realize
that you and I can put ourselves in this place because you can
say, and I can say, I can enter into that. I can tell you for
a fact, I know Jacob is a supplant. He's a trickster. He's a liar. So am I. Jacob's going to get a blessing.
And I'm like him. And you just tell me how am I
going to get a blessing because I know what I am. I'm not trying
to cut corners. I'm not trying to beat around
the bush. I'm just going to be straight up about it. You and
I and ourselves are in trouble. We're liars. When Isaac asked
Jacob who he was, Jacob gave the only answer that Isaac was
going to accept as far as giving a blessing. I've got one blessing
to give. And Isaac, the father, has said,
I'm going to give it to my firstborn. I'm going to give it to Esau.
And what does Jacob say when he asked him, who are you? He
said, I am Esau. I'm Esau. And Isaac, verse 27, to his son,
how is it? that thou hast found it so quickly,
my son." And he lied again. He said, because the Lord thy
God brought it to me. Jacob, according to his own will,
his own thoughts, his own ability, lies, even ascribing his success
to the will, to the pleasure, to the providence of Almighty
God. But, according to Jehovah's revealed
purpose to Rebecca, according to grace, Was Jacob
not standing there truly according to the Lord's will? Yes, he was. It was the Lord's will that he
stand right where he's standing to get the blessing. But did
it negate the fact that he was still in himself a liar? No,
sir. He's still a liar. And he's still
lying on top of lying. And did not the Lord God of heaven
order and arrange and deliver all that was prepared? He said,
the Lord brought it to me. True statement. But you're not
going to get away from this fact, Jacob. You're still a liar. So here we see truly that Almighty
God allows this man to do just exactly what he wants to do,
what his mama wants to do. But she's doing what she's doing
according to the Lord's revelation to her. We see that truly the lot's cast
into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. And Isaac, verse 21 through 23,
said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee that I may feel thee my
son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went
near, unto Isaac his father, and he felt him. And he said,
The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned him not." I got to thinking about that statement
right there, that he discerned him not. And I looked it up. He recognized in his mind that
there was no difference between who he thought he was and who
Isaac wanted him to be. In Isaac's mind, is what I'm
trying to say, that is Esau. That's Esau. Isaac, he speaks with some apprehension. He seems to wonder if the one
to whom he speak is truly his son. He said, your voice, that's
Jacob's voice. Oh, but your hands, that's Esau's
hands. Those are the hands of strength.
That's my son, Esau's hands. And he calls Jacob near to him,
feeling and looking for evidence that the one who stood before
him was truly his firstborn. Oh, but don't we even now begin
to see the mercy of Almighty God to his everlastingly loved
people. Everything about Jacob was a
lie. He lied about his identity. He
lied about the food that he prepared. He lied about his hairy hands.
It was a deception. But Jacob, in Isaac's eyes, though
they were dim, was Esau. And Jacob now is going to receive
the blessing. But here is a verse of Scripture,
verse 24, and it just arrests me because what we must do now
is realize the place, the only place in which we can stand before
God Almighty of whom Isaac is a picture. This daddy, this Isaac
is a picture of the Father. Esau is a picture of the Son.
Jacob is a picture of the sinner. Rebekah, a picture of the Holy
Spirit, in verse 24. And he, that is Isaac, said,
Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am. I am. Now we pray the Holy Spirit's
blessing upon our understanding here. And this question that
Isaac asked his son Jacob is a question that every regenerated
vessel of God's mercy must consider. We know who we are. We know who
we are as being born in Adam. Who are we? We're Jacob's. That's
who we are. But how are we going to receive
a blessing from Almighty God when the only one that the Father,
based upon His own merit, has everlastingly been pleased to
bless is precious Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the only
one that He's gonna bless. On His own merit, He's the only
one. How can you and I have any hope
of receiving any blessing when the Lord Jesus is the only one
that's going to receive the blessing. And there's one way. We must
be found one with him. We must be found in him as one. Are you my very son, Esau? The Father will ask, are you,
my very son, the one that I am pleased with, the one that I'm
going to bless? That's a yes or no answer. That's
a yes or no answer. I look at this verse of scripture,
Frank, like I do 2 Corinthians 5.21. You just, you hold your
breath. when you read what's being said
here. Because let me tell you this, there's only one way that
you or I am going to receive a blessing from Almighty God. And that blessing is going to
have to be if we be found one with Christ. When the Father looks upon us,
if He sees not His Son, We have no hope. No hope. When he asked him that question,
Jacob, humanly speaking, now I'm going to just tell you how
I am and you are still right now. As being born in Adam, he's
still a liar. But in Jacob's lie, we behold
the blessed type and picture of the younger son receiving
the blessing. And this is the greatest revelation
of mercy that God Almighty has ever shown to a sinner. Jacob stood before his father,
robed in his brother's, his elder brother's robe, clothed with the skins Of those
two goats, there's only one other passage that I ever found where
there was two goats that was used, and it was on the Day of
Atonement. They killed two goats. One of
them was a goat for the Lord, the Lord's goat, and the other
was a scapegoat. One of those goats was sacrificed
as a sin offering. The other goat had the hands
of the priest put on his head and confessed the sins and it
was taken away. And those goats, both of them,
a picture of Lord Jesus Christ. He who died and he who took away
and bore away our guilt. The blood of those goats was
taken in and sprinkled on the mercy seat on the day of atonement.
And now here's Rebecca and she's taking these two goats. Now here's
a glorious picture. of that blessed sacrifice, that
blessed burnt offering, that sin offering, that sweet savor
offering before the Father. Now here's Jacob in himself,
a liar, he's a liar. He comes before his daddy, and
he stands before his daddy robed in his brother's robe, his goodly
robe, had the skins, had the evidence of sacrifice upon. He
was covered, covered. And Isaac asked Jacob, are you
my son? He said, yes, I am. And by the
grace of God, you and I, sinners by birth, sinners by practice,
sinners by choice, sinners right now. robed in the righteousness
of Christ, and in Christ's righteousness, we are holy and without blame
before Him in love. Are you truly my son? Yes, I am. Yes, I am. How can that be? I just mentioned
this verse, you turn with me, 2 Thessalonians 5.21. 2 Thessalonians,
you know this scripture, your pastor preached on it, mentioned
it, quoted it. 2 Thessalonians 5.21. For me to have any hope, for
you to have any hope, we must be one. 2 Thessalonians, I meant
2 Corinthians. Turn over to 2 Corinthians. You
know where I'm at. 2 Corinthians 5.21. For he, that
is the Father, hath made him... 2B is in italics, so I'm just
going to read it like it's not in the original. For he hath
made him sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made... Now listen to this. How can I
stand before God accepted. How can I be blessed to the Father
that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him? In Christ, we stand before God
as His Son. We are His body. We are one with
Him. Listen to this scripture, 1 John
4, 17. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness
in the day of judgment. Now here's Isaac with Jacob standing
before him. Jacob, who knows what he is in
himself. Me, I know what I am, Bob. I
know what we are. Herein is our love made perfect,
mature, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment. Boldness in the day of judgment.
Because as He is, so are we in this world. Now I'm going to
just admit something. My little finite mind cannot
grasp hold of the depth of that. But I can believe it because
I have just enough sight. I see through a glass darkly,
but I have just enough sight to know this. If I stand before
God Almighty and I stand not in Christ, not one with Him,
not being His body, if I am not the branch grafted into the vine. Take an oak tree. You take an oak tree and look
at the trunk. And what is the trunk? What kind of wood is the
trunk of an oak tree? We say it's oak. What's the branch? It's oak too. By the grace of
God, Here again, I can't explain the depth of this. He said, you're
the branches, I'm the vine. You're wrapped into me. We stand
before God Almighty. Listen to this scripture. He
that is joined to the Lord is one spirit. Listen to John 17.23. I in them and thou in me that
they may be made perfect anymore. And that the world may know that
Thou hast sent me and hast loved them as Thou hast loved me. I cannot grasp hold of the depth
of being one with Him. He's the head, we're the body. You see this right here? This
is Marvin Stonica. This is too. So is this. I can understand that. But to
understand the depth that Almighty God would make me one with Christ. His body, one with Him. But I can tell you this, that's
the only way I'll ever be blessed of God. Outside of that, I have
absolutely no hope. And the scripture says, verse
25 to 27, and he said, bring it near to me and I will eat
of my son's venison, that my soul may bless him. And he brought
it near him and he did eat. He brought him wine and drink.
And his father Isaac said unto him, come near now and kiss me,
my son. And he came near and he kissed
him. And here's what Isaac did when
Jacob came near to him. He smelled the smell of his raiment, and he blessed him. And he said, See, the smell of
my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed.
Here's what Isaac smelled. He smelled, he said. When we stand before God Almighty
in Him, and I'm going to say it one more time, I know what
we are in ourselves. But we stand in Him, chosen in
Him from before the foundation of the world, robed in His righteousness,
We stand before the father being found in him. And when the father
smells the raiment of righteousness that robes his people, the vessels
of his mercy, he says, I smell my son. That's my son,
the one I love. He blessed him. He said, that
smell is of the smell of my son as the smell of a field which
the Lord has blessed. What kind of a smell is that? Over in Song of Solomon, I'll
just read this for you. Song of Solomon, chapter five. The Lord has a garden, got a
garden. Song of Solomon 4, I'm sorry,
verse 16. Awake, O north wind, and come
thou south. Blow upon my garden that the
spices, the spices of the fruit of God's Spirit, smell of honor,
the smell of obedience, the smell of faithfulness, that was not
of our doing. That was His robe. That was Esau's
robe on Jacob. That's Christ robe upon us. And the Father smells that, and
He smells that sweet savor of obedience, honor, and faithfulness. Oh, and the bride says in Song
of Solomon 416, when He says, the Lord says, blow to the Spirit
of God, blow upon my garden that the spices thereof may flow out. And the bride says, let my beloved
come into His garden and eat of His pleasant fruits whenever
the father smelled Jacob robed in Esau's garments. And Isaac
smelled the garments of his son that he loved. Don't you know
that Jacob said, smell it one more time. Smell it one more
time. A believer hears of the blessedness
of the Father's pleasure with His precious Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ, and being found in Him, and hearing those precious words,
for Christ's sake, I've shown mercy. For Christ's sake, I've
shown. For Christ's sake. And that sinner
will say, Lord, smell me in Him one more time. Smell me once
again. Then in closing, Isaac was going
to go ahead and bless Jacob. Here was the blessing that he
was going to receive. He said in verse 28, he said,
verse 28, therefore, God give thee of the dew of heaven, fatness
of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine. Whenever he said that
to him, He said, the dew of heaven. That was more than just a blessing
of being able to get up one morning and go out and look at the dew
on the ground. The thing that the dew of heaven
set forth, first of all, was God's blessing upon Jacob, the
sinner, the vessel of God's mercy. His blessing from the Lord was
going to be that Jacob was going to be able to hear and understand
God's Word. Listen to this. I'll read this
Deuteronomy 32 verses 1 to 4. Give ear, O ye heavens, and I
will speak, and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine
shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distill as the dew. as
the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon
the grass, because I will publish the name of the Lord, ascribe
you greatness unto our God. He is the rock. His work is perfect. All His ways are judgment of
God of truth, and without iniquity, just and right is He. God give
you, Isaac said to Jacob, robed in Esau's garments. God give
you an understanding. of the truth. God give you an
understanding of the gospel. Secondly, that blessing spoke
of the Lord's effectual call to His people and their desire
then concerning and asking for forgiveness after the Lord had
regenerated them and His promise to forgive. Listen to this promise
that's found, Hosea 14. And when he gave him this blessing
right here, here again, this was just more than just, you
know, some dew. When he says, the Lord give you
the dew of heaven, here's what, I'm going to read that, I'm going
to read the blessing again just before I read this scripture
so you'll hear what it is. Here's the blessing. He said,
the Lord give you the dew of heaven. What did that mean? Well,
first of all, you're going to hear the gospel with some understanding. That's a blessing. That's a blessing. Here's the second part, that
Almighty God is going to effectually call you out of darkness. And
having called you out of darkness, He's going to give you a desire
to ask Him for forgiveness. And He's going to forgive you.
And He's going to give you His word and promise of that forgiveness. Now listen to this, Hosea 14
verse 1 to 7, O Israel, Return unto the Lord thy God,
for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity, have we not? Take with
you words, and turn to the Lord, and say unto him, Take away all
iniquity, and receive us graciously. So will we render the calves
of our lips. Asher, the king of Syria, shall
not save us. We will not ride upon horses,
neither will we say any more to the work of our hands. You
are our gods, for in thee the fatherless find mercy. Then the
Lord says, I will heal their backsliding. I will love them
freely for mine anger is turned away from him. I will be as the
dew unto Israel. He shall grow as the lily and
cast forth his roots, his roots as Lebanon. His branches shall
spread, His beauty shall be as the olive tree, and His smell
as Lebanon. God give you the dew of heaven,
my son. God's going to call you out of
darkness. God's going to teach you the gospel. God's going to
give you a heart to ask for forgiveness, and He's going to forgive you.
And lastly, when he said that, concerning that God give you
the dew of heaven, Micah, Micah chapter 5 and verse 7, Micah
5, 7. I'll read this to you. And the
remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as dew
from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass that tarry not
for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men. Here's a blessing.
You're going to be like dew in the midst of many. I don't know
how many people there are in this part of the country. I mean,
Ashland, Kentucky, every time I think of Ashland, Kentucky,
I think of this assembly. I think of your pastor. That's
what I think about Ashland, Kentucky. What does that mean? That means
Frank Tate. That's what that means to me. How many people
are in this community? How many people are in this city? But I can tell you this, out
of the great midst of all these people in this community, God's
been pleased to raise up some dew in this community. And there's some, there's some
elect, and God's been pleased to call them out of darkness. God give you the dew of heaven. Now listen to that verse again.
And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people
as dew from the Lord. Almighty God had blessed this
young man, and this is the blessing that we receive tonight. What
is the blessing that we receive for Christ's sake? Sinners by
nature, vessels of His mercy, robed in His righteousness, made
one with Him, branches grafted into the vine, one, one with
Him, betrothed to Him before the foundation of the world.
That's a great mystery, Paul says. Speaking of a man and his
wife, but these two shall become one. As we said, these two should
be one. Paul said, that's a great mystery,
but I speak of Christ and his bride. That is a great mystery.
That blessing that Isaac bestowed upon Jacob. Oh, the blessing
that we receive. The Lord has taught us the gospel.
He's called us out of the midst of people, made us his due. in the midst of many, gave us
a heart to ask him for forgiveness. What a blessing. When you stand
before God, what else do we need? We're robed in him, found in
him, one with him, sinners, asking for God's mercy. What else would
we ever want? Well, I'm going to close. Almost, I'm almost there. And
the scripture says, as soon as Jacob received the blessing,
he walked out, here comes Esau. And I'll just, for the sake of
time, I'll tell you what happened. I'm going to go over verse 38
in just a second. Esau walks in and he says, father,
I'm here. I've got to save for meat. And
he said, who are you? He said, I'm Esau, your firstborn. I've done as you bid me to do.
I've got the meat. He said, well, who is this that
is just in here that I blessed and he shall be blessed. Isaac knew that almighty God
had ordered this and he gonna be blessed. Who are you? He said, I'm the one that you
promised. Then he began to cry, that is
Esau. Then he said, Verse 38, Father,
hast thou but one blessing, my Father? Yes, there is but one
blessing. There is one blessing from the
Lord. And that blessing is in the Lord
Jesus Christ. There's one. Bless me, even me
also, O my Father. And Esau lifted up his voice
and wept. And Isaac said, Behold, thy dwelling shall be
as the fatness of the earth and as the dew of heaven from above. You know, when you look at that
verse of scripture, it almost appears as though that he gave
Esau the same blessing that he gave Jacob. What did he give
Jacob? Oh, but then I realized, no,
there was a great difference. In verse 28, here was the blessing. God give thee of the dew of heaven. And in verse 39, the scripture
says that Isaac told Jacob, his son, behold, thy dwelling shall
be as the fatness of the earth and the dew of heaven. There

that you would put our sin upon him, make him sin for his people
and punish him fully in your white hot wrath against sin. that your people might be blessed,
accepted in him, made righteous in him. Father, how we thank
you. And I pray you'd apply your word to our hearts, that you'd
