Well, turn with me please to
Isaiah again, Isaiah chapter 26, as we work our way through
this wonderful prophecy. Most of this year we've been
going with this apart from one or two breaks, but we come now
to chapter 26, and the first four verses of that chapter,
and I've called this message, The Peace and Safety of Zion. You read again and again, especially
in Isaiah, you keep reading about in that day. I haven't done one
of those count up how many, but there are a lot of in that day.
There's one like, my eyes just fell on it straight away. Verse
nine of the previous chapter. In that day, in that day. And
also in this mountain. In that day and in this mountain.
Scripture speaks repeatedly of a particular day and time and
a special mountain, in contrast to the generality of days and
places in this world. This world, as you know, as we
learn from the Scriptures, this world is the kingdom of Antichrist. That's what it is. It's utterly
opposed to the kingdom and rule of God. The kingdom of Antichrist,
its philosophy is different, completely opposed to the principles,
the precepts of the kingdom of God. Even the science of this
world increasingly is becoming, you know, scientists a couple
of hundred years ago, you know, the great people of science,
you know, the Humphrey Davies and Michael Faraday's and Robert
Boyle's and all, they were men of faith. Men of faith. They believed the true gospel.
Science didn't disprove their God to them. It was confirmation
that God has made all things well. Isaac Newton, probably
one of the greatest, if not the greatest, brain that's ever walked
this planet. He said when he'd come to his
height of scientific discovery, he said, I feel just like a little
boy wandering on a beach, picking up pebbles, and that's it. Have
I encompassed it? No more than that little boy
has encompassed the beach, he's picked up one or two pebbles
on that beach. But the science of this world
is the science of the kingdom of Antichrist, and it's opposed
to the things of God. And even in that, that's why
Paul calls it science falsely so-called, because it's flawed,
because it's the kingdom of antichrist view. I'll give you a complicated
word, paradigm. It means your recipe for working
things out. Their way of thinking about things
makes them misinterpret everything, even including scientific observations.
The social morality. Oh, how we've seen it, haven't
we, in the last 40 years? I mean, it just seems that every
day hastens even further. the kingdom of Antichrist and
its opposition to the justice and righteousness of the kingdom
of God. The dazzling technology of this
world, I'm not being a hypocrite, I like the technology and I make
use of it, but do you know the way in which the dazzling technology
of this world is one of Satan's instruments to beguile the people
of this world, that they don't believe the truth. And the religion
of this world, oh, there's still a lot of religion. What a lot
of religion there is. Do you know what's wrong with
it? Do you know what's wrong with all of it? You know, I was
accused recently of constantly talking about why we're so right
and everybody else is so wrong. I can tell you why, because we
try to be true to this book, and others in so many ways are
not true to this book. Do you know why? I'll tell you
why. All other religion is fundamentally flawed. They do not see any need
for the satisfaction of divine justice. That's it. Their religion
pats them on the back and says you're pretty good if you do
all of these things and you try and make this world a better
place. It thinks that a good state can be achieved without
the satisfaction of divine justice. What marks out what we preach?
Divine justice must be satisfied, and we know of only one way,
and that's in the gospel of God's grace. This kingdom of Antichrist
in which we live, this generality all around us, increasingly makes
it difficult for God's believing people to, as Revelation 13 puts
it towards the end of it, make it difficult to buy and sell,
to trade in this world, to interact with this world, to go to work.
Do you know, I used to be a science teacher at one stage in my life,
Do you know, I'd be interviewed by the board of governors now
and the head and I wouldn't get a job as a science teacher. If
I was back then, that 20 odd year old, I wouldn't get a job.
They wouldn't have me. Do you know why? because my philosophy
of life is the philosophy of the gospel of grace, and it's
completely opposed to the paradigm of this world and its fallen
science. Make it more and more difficult. It seems like we're
in a pretty bad place, doesn't it? But remember what I told
you last week. You only have to turn on from Revelation 13,
which is that terrible chapter of how bad things are, and we're
seeing it all around us. Go to Revelation 14 and verse
one, and I looked says John, I looked and I saw on Mount Zion,
here's that mountain, here's that mountain, Mount Zion it
is but it's the same one, Mount Zion, I looked and what was on
Mount Zion? A lamb, a lamb, the king of God's
kingdom and with him 144,000. Who are they? I believe that they are God's people at
any one time in this world. Twelve, times twelve, times ten,
times ten, times ten. Twelve of the Old Testament,
patriarchs, twelve of the New Testament, apostles, times God's
completeness, times God's completeness, times God's completeness. 144,000, it's symbolical of the
number of God's people in this world at any one time. In this
kingdom of Antichrist now, the Church of God, Zion, Mount Zion,
The Church of God is kept by the Lord Jesus Christ who walks
among the candlesticks, Revelation 1 to 3. He's there in that first
vision of Revelation. The mountain is Zion. In this
mountain Which mountain? Zion, the church of the living
God. Glorious things of thee are spoken. Zion, city of our
God. I saw new Jerusalem coming down
out of heaven, says John. Zion, the new Zion. This is the
day of salvation. In that day, in that day, the
day of salvation. What day do I mean? Well, I mean
the day when Christ came. to save his people from their
sins. He was called Jesus, for he shall save his people from
their sins. And Galatians 4 verse 4 tells
us, when the fullness of the time was come. In that day, when
the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son,
made of a woman, made under the law, to do what? To redeem those
who are under the law. Why? That we, those people, might
receive the adoption of sons, become the children of God by
grace, by being made righteous in Him. And that day, that day
in each individual that comes. There is a day. I'm not asking
you to remember your spiritual birthday. I don't mean it's like
that at all. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that if you can't
remember a date and a time when you believe the truth then you're
not saved. Not at all. You come to a realization of
it and some come very quickly and others take longer. But there's
a time when each individual, for them, it is the day of salvation. When they know that they were
in darkness, but now they see the marvelous light of Christ.
So if you're among the symbolical 144,000, we saw last week, you're
rich beyond measure. If not, if you're not among them,
if you cannot say it is well with my soul, you're on the broad
way, said Jesus, that leads to destruction. I want to declare
to you this morning what God has said concerning Zion. What he said concerning Zion
for two reasons, to cheer your heart if you're in Zion, and
secondly, to exhort you to find the way in if you're on the outside. That's what we see here in these
four verses. Look at verse one of chapter
26. In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah.
We have a strong city. This is the words of a song.
We have a strong city. Salvation will God appoint for
walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates that the righteous
nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep
him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he
trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. In that day shall this
song be sung. In the land of Judah we have
a strong city. A strong city. The song of a
city. If you lived in England eight
or nine hundred years ago, and probably long before that as
well, the rule of law was not very reliable you know in other
words you thought you own something but somebody else could come
along and take it off you and make it his and there wasn't
a great deal that you could do about it unless you were strong
enough to stop him unless you could fight him off unless you
could defend yourself unless you could protect your property
the rule of law was not very effective in those days we've
just been down to Hastings for a few days where William the
Conqueror invaded this land and we walked around his castle that
he built at Hastings up on the promontory of rock above it.
Why did he build a castle? Because he'd only just taken
the land and he didn't want anybody to come and take it back off
him. He had to make it strong. So he defended it. If you lived
amongst the generality of men eight or nine hundred years ago
you'd be very vulnerable to attack and having things taken off you.
And what did they used to do? They used to gather together
in communities. And gathering together in communities,
they'd still feel a bit vulnerable, so they built walls around themselves.
They put fortifications around themselves. They congregated
together. And so today, go to the city
of York, go to the city of Chester, in fact, even in parts of London,
you can still see evidence of it. In parts of East London,
there's the London Wall that you can still see bits of. And
that wall provided safety and protection for the people on
the inside. And can you imagine those that
were on the inside when they'd finished their city wall and
they felt defended and they could close it up at night and they
could keep those that they didn't want to come in, they could keep
them on the outside and it was hard to get in and they felt
safe and I'm sure they felt glad. In this world, in this kingdom
of Antichrist which is seeking to swallow up God's people and
to make us conform, it is you know, you read Revelation 12,
I know I keep referring to Revelation is very much in my mind. But in Revelation 12 you know
when Satan is clearly defeated and he's angry and he's furious
and he's cast down into the world And he causes a flood to come
to try and wash away the woman who's in the wilderness. The
woman is the church. The wilderness is a wilderness separation from
this world in terms of its philosophy, different set of thinking to
the things of this world. That's what the woman... And
he sends out a flood. And do you know what that flood
is for? It's not to drown the woman. No. is to sweep her off
her feet, to sweep her into conformance with this world, so that she
loses her faith, so she renounces Christ, so that she's intermingled
with this world. That's what he tries to do. But
here we read, on Mount Zion, with the Lamb, lives the Church
of God, within the walls of a strong city, within the walls of a strong
city, walls that protect the city's inhabitants, from the
destructive intentions of Antichrist's kingdom. What are these walls?
What are these walls? Salvation will God appoint for
walls and bulwarks. They're salvation. These walls
around this city, this spiritual city of Zion, are walls of salvation. and they protect the people of
God. This is the protection of God's believing people in the
kingdom of Antichrist. It's all around us, but within
Zion, with the walls of salvation, we're in there. We're protected
by it. This being in there, it's, it's, it's, how do you get in
there? It's not an offer that's dependent on human will. but
it's the accomplishment of divine justice. Divine justice satisfied
in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that truth, that fact, is
as solid as the rock which is Christ. It's solid. It's absolutely,
it's Him. He is that solid rock who is
God. He is it. He it is. Look at chapter
25 and verse 9. It shall be said in that day,
when you come to a knowledge of salvation, Lo, this is our
God. Have you noticed in Isaiah, we
keep on reading, Lo, this is our God. In case you're in any
doubt, this, who is our God? I tell you what it's saying,
the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the promised one who came to
fulfil all that the Father gave him to do in the salvation of
his people. Lo, this is our God. This is our Jehovah Jesus. This is our God and our Saviour.
Lo, this is our God. he has accomplished an effectual
salvation for his people. Because the walls of salvation
around Zion speak of something that's very effectual in providing
protection. The salvation he has accomplished,
that's effectual. Because he's made satisfaction
to the justice of God. How has he done it? You know,
I bet you hear me quote this verse more than any other, and
most of our preaching friends. 2nd Corinthians, chapter 5, verse
21. He made him, Christ, who knew
no sin, to be made sin, to be made sin. Not to pretend that
he was sin, but to be made the sin of his people, which he bore
in his own body on the cursed tree, on the cross. He made him
who knew no sin, the sinless Lamb of God, the perfect Lamb
of God, without blemish and without spot. He loaded him just as the
priest in the Old Testament sacrifices would lay his hand on the head
of the animal to be sacrificed and that was symbolical of the
sins of the people being transferred to that one who would suffer
the penalty due to that sin and pay its penalty and thereby satisfy
justice which says, the law says, the soul that sins it shall die
and he satisfied the justice of God for his people. When he
died, he satisfied the justice of God for his people. He accomplished
effectual salvation and thereby, with him dying, he made his people
the righteousness of God in him. And it's guaranteed by the justice
of God. You see, if God has already punished
Christ and said he is satisfied with the penalty Christ has paid
for your sin and for my sin, he will never call it to account
from us ever again. Proverbs 17 verse 15, let me
remind you, he that justifieth the wicked, he that says the
one who's done something evil can go free because there's nothing
against him, which so often happens in our justice system in this
world in these days, he that justifieth the wicked, and he
that condemneth the just, He that is happy to see Christ who
had not been made sin put to death on the cross, even they
both are an abomination to the Lord. He loaded Christ with the
sins of his people and there justly condemned the guilty. He justly condemned him, for
he counted him the sin that he had been made, so that he might
pay the penalty that was due to the offended justice of God.
When Christ, the sinless one, was made the sin of his people,
God justly condemned him. And his justice inflicted exactly
the required penalty. And the result? Salvation. Salvation from sin. Salvation. Being saved from condemnation.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
No condemnation. Revelation 12, again, referring
to it a lot this morning. Revelation 12 verse 10, I heard
a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation. In that chapter, the woman gives
birth to a child which is Christ and he accomplishes salvation.
And then it says, now is come salvation and strength and the
kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ. Why? Because the
accuser of our brethren is cast down. Who's he? Is it not Satan? Satan is the accuser of the brethren,
which accused them before God day and night. He accused them
before God. He says to God all the time,
you cannot let these people into heaven. They're sinners. Look,
they're just as bad as me and all mine. You cannot let them
into heaven. He accuses them before God day
and night. But now he's cast down. Why? Why is he cast down? For Christ
has come and paid the penalty. How did they overcome him? How
is he cast down? It tells us, by the blood of
the Lamb, for the blood of the Lamb paid the penalty to the
full. So, there is no condemnation. Who shall bring any charge? Romans
8, 33 and 34. Who shall bring any charge against
God's elect? Nobody can. Why? Christ's already
died. For the charge of which they're
guilty, Christ has already died. Satan is completely disarmed. His weapons that he thought he
could bring everyone, all of God's people down into hell with,
they've taken off him. He's disarmed. How? In the very
moment he thought he'd conquered Christ, in that very moment he
himself was conquered. How should a man be just with
God? What must I do to be saved? Christ has justified all that
the Father gave him. And it's all a free grace. And
as we often sing in that hymn, and if free grace Why not for
me? And if free grace, why not for
me? Why not for you? Don't ever tell me that the truth
of election kept you out of the kingdom of God. Come unto me,
all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. You see, Zion is this city of
God, this church of God, this people of God, this saved people
out of this world of Antichrist. In this city we're surrounded
by walls of accomplished salvation. Nothing can break through them.
Walls of accomplished salvation. What can Satan, what can Antichrist
do? Doesn't it make you want to sing
praise to God? Do you know why we use almost
exclusively Gadsby's hymn book. There's loads of hymn books,
and there's loads of nice tunes, but we use almost exclusively
Gadsby's. There's one in here, the last
one is not from Gadsby's, but virtually every other hymn we
sing is from Gadsby's. Should I tell you, if you want
me to put into one sentence what is the theme of Gadsby's hymn
book, it's this. We have a strong city. Salvation
will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. You could Paraphrase
virtually every hymn in that way. I could, we haven't got
one here and I'm not going to try it, but you could give me
a Gadsby's hymn book and I could open it at any page and I could
show you on that page, hymn after hymn that says, we have a strong
city. Salvation will God appoint for
walls and bulwarks. That's why we sing those hymns.
You see, we as we are in our flesh, we're mortal beings. We're
sinful mortal beings. If we know anything of the nature
and character of God, who has made us, who has created all
things, who is holy, who dwells in unapproachable light, we know
that we're mortal and we're sinners. You know, as Isaiah in chapter
6, when he saw that vision of Christ, the pre-incarnate Christ,
filling the temple in Jerusalem, he went in there, saw his train
filled the temple, And what was his reaction? Woe is me, I am
undone, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people
of unclean lips. He knew he was a sinner. Have
you seen that, that you're a sinner? That you're justly condemned
by the justice of God? That you know that it is appointed
for you to die once, and then the judgment? When you know that,
to hear the gospel news of salvation accomplished, of justice satisfied
in Christ, of sin removed, of heaven guaranteed, No wonder
the one saved wants to sing. Secondly, open ye the gates that
the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. The gates
open wide. It's a city with impregnable
walls, these walls of salvation. Nothing can change them. Nothing
can batter them down. These walls are impregnable.
But this city has gates. It has gates. It has a way in.
We read in John 10 verse 9, Jesus said, I am the door. I am. Can you imagine? I keep
telling you this. Just imagine that you were there
with those crowds of people and the disciples and the Pharisees
and the others. And you hear this man that has
no comeliness that we should desire him. He just looks like
another ordinary man. In fact, he looked older than
his years, we can infer. When he said, before Abraham
was, I am, they said, you're not yet 50 years old. And he
was only just turned 30 years old. No comeliness that we should
desire him. And here's this man, this ordinary
man, not like one of the pictures in the National Gallery with
a halo around his head. No, not like that. And this man,
ordinary man, says, I am the door. By me, if any man enter
in, he shall be saved. I am the door. Not we're all
equal. He and he alone is the door. If you would come into
the safety of the city of Zion, it must be through the one and
the only door. So what does it say here gates?
Why does it say gates? Well, if you read The picture
again, I'm referring to Revelation, of the city in Revelation 21,
towards the end of it, it's got gates on the north side and the
south side and the east side and the west side. And what is
it speaking of? It's speaking of this, that those
who are bidden to come in are not just Jews from that nation
there, there from all the world without distinction of race.
For God, said Jesus to Nicodemus, God so loved the world of sinners
without distinction of race, people from all tribes and tongues
and kindreds, that he sent his only begotten Son, that whosoever,
whichever of them believeth in him should not perish but have
everlasting life. And Christ has opened the way
into the holy presence of God. The way into the holy presence
of God was barred to sinners. It's barred to those who do not
have the holy nature of God. How holy do you have to be to
get into heaven? As holy as God is, for he will
not allow anything that defiles to enter therein, but by Christ
he has made the way. And that veil, that thick veil
of the temple, we read in Mark last week, that when Christ died
and when he gave up the ghost, when he really died, in the flesh
he really died, and that veil of the temple was torn from the
very top of it to the bottom, symbolizing, symbolizing that
you didn't need to be only the high priest on the day of atonement
with a blood sacrifice that was exactly according to the prescription
God had given. No, you didn't have to be that.
the access is made open for all of his people to come in. Having
therefore, brethren, boldness, says Paul, to enter into the
holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which
he has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say, his
flesh. It's him having gone in there.
He's made the way open. We have access through the gates.
He is the door. He is the way in. He has made
the way open. What qualifies a sinner a sinner
who is barred to enter boldly, Colossians 1, 2. He, Christ,
has made us meet. He's qualified us to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints. How has He qualified us? By taking
away our sin, by imparting a righteous nature, by imputing the righteous
nature of God. He who knew no sin was made sin
for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Christ's blood has paid his people's
sin debt to the full, and he's made them the righteousness of
God in him. So, open ye the gates wide. Open them. Look, I'm telling
you, Zion's gates are open wide. Whoever you are that might be
listening or watching, Zion's gates are open wide. This is
what the word of God is telling us this morning. Here is refuge
from just condemnation. You know, the cities of refuge
that were set up, When they went into the promised land from the
wilderness wanderings, they went in there, and God told them to
set up cities of refuge which were such a picture of Christ.
The one who accidentally killed his neighbor, and the neighbor
wanted vengeance, but it would be unjust. And so he said, these
are cities of refuge which give a breathing space where the case
can be tried and looked at. The cities of refuge were a picture
of Christ. We flee to Christ, the city of
refuge. And Zion's gates are open wide.
Here is refuge from just condemnation. Why should we come? Because he
said it, come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. The Spirit and the bride say
it, right at the very end of the scriptures, Revelation 22,
17. The Spirit and the bride say, the Spirit of God calls,
the people of God. Through evangelism and preaching
of the word, they say, come, come, come. Come to God by the
only way. Come to God by Christ. And here's
the promise, you will be saved. You will. He will save all who
come to God by him. Then verse three, thou wilt keep
him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he
trusteth in thee. Zion's perfect peace. How do
we enter into Zion? Through Christ. Through Christ.
We come by faith. Faith is the means by which we
see the things of the Spirit of God. We see and we believe
by faith, and that not of ourselves. It is the gift of God. And seeing,
we call upon Him, and we trust Him. You know, it talks about
how shall they hear? How shall they call on what they've
not heard? And how shall they hear without
a preacher? And they've got to believe on Him and trust and
thereby they come. That's how we enter. God gives
the gift of faith to his people. He quickens, he makes alive,
the Spirit of God comes and makes alive to the things of God, so
that we sense the truth of God, we hear the gospel of God, we
hear the claims of God, and we're made willing to believe in the
day of his power. And thereby, with mind stayed
upon Jehovah, With mine stayed upon Jehovah, thou wilt keep
him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee because he
trusteth in thee. Mine stayed upon Jehovah Jesus, anchored
to him, anchored to him. That's another picture that is
used, Hebrews 6.19, which hope, the hope of salvation, we have
as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast. It's an anchor. Storms of life and of doubts
and of turmoil come and go. Storms come and go, but we have
an anchor in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have an anchor of the soul,
sure and steadfast. That's solid rock. You know,
if you're in a ship in a storm, you want that anchor fastened
onto the biggest, heaviest rock that you can. You don't want
it to move. It will hold you firm. Nothing can move it. Nothing
can move those anchored to it, whatever might happen. what peace
that gives. It says here in the original,
it says, where it says perfect peace, it's peace, peace, the
peace of God, peace, peace, peace which Flesh cannot know which
nations, you know, all the striving that there is for peace in worldly
conflict. They can know nothing of this true peace. This is the
peace of God which passes understanding. He will keep him. God will keep
his people in peace, peace, the peace of God, perfect peace,
God's peace, the peace of being at peace with God. No longer
enemies of God, which is what we are by nature, children of
wrath even as others. but by virtue of the gospel and
the accomplishments of Christ, at peace with God. At peace with
Him. Whereby we cry, Abba, Daddy,
Father. God is a consuming fire and is
angry with the wicked every day. But the children of God, who
are saved by what Christ has accomplished, cry, Daddy, Father. And God accepts them. And Christ
says, I no longer call you servants, but I call you my friends. Because
he tells his friends his secrets. They do, don't they? Friends
tell one another their secrets. What secrets does he tell us?
He tells us the secrets of the gospel of grace in the book of
God, in the word of God. No longer at enmity, knowing
that Christ has made peace with a holy God through the blood
of his cross. That's what Colossians 1.20 says.
And I experience it by faith. I experience it by faith. I savour
the blessings of salvation. I taste the blessings of salvation
by faith. Salvation that's been accomplished.
Not something I have to work at. Not something that where
I've been given a leg up to get started and thereby thereafter
it's all down to me. No, it's salvation that is accomplished. resting in the assurance of acceptance
and welcome into heaven. Yes, we still live in this flesh.
Flesh will waver and fluctuate, but the inner man of the child
of God is constantly assured of peace. Do you hunger for peace
with God? Zion's gates are open wide. Peace with God within Zion. And
then fourthly, Verse four, trust ye in the Lord forever, for in
the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. This is underwritten
by God himself. You know, in insurance, you go
and buy an insurance policy from somebody, and generally speaking,
the people you buy the insurance from are just a front. They're
just the kind of the marketing, the trading company. If you need
to call in that insurance because something's gone terribly wrong
and you want the payout, you know, your house is burnt down,
then probably that company itself has got no means of paying for
you to have your house rebuilt. They have to have the insurance
underwritten by somebody with the resources to do it. And this
is what the financial regulators do. The financial regulators
are constantly trying to make sure that the companies that
sell us insurance have got proper underwriting, that there are
the resources underneath it to guarantee that you'll get what
you think you've paid for. What about this? In Isaiah 25
and verse 8, he will swallow up death in victory, and the
Lord God will wipe away tears from off all the faces, and the
rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth.
How can I know? For the Lord hath spoken it.
God has said it. His word, God's word, is his
bond. God's word is utterly reliable. Here in this book, in his word,
he's guaranteed it. It's guaranteed by His own Word,
His own unchanging purpose, His irresistible power. It's infinite,
inexhaustible resources. Now I ask you, do you believe
Him? Do you trust Him? Do you depend
upon Him? Trust ye in the Lord forever,
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Do you trust Him? Do
you depend on Him? Are you persuaded like Paul?
What He said to Timothy, 2 Timothy 1 verse 12, I know whom I have
believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which
I've committed unto Him against that day. I know, I trust Him.
I know, I've committed my immortal soul to Him against that day
of judgment and I know that He's able to keep it. He's able to
keep it because He's justified it and He'll take it to be in
glory with Him. You can trust Him forever because
His strength is everlasting. This is the Lord Jehovah. Trusting in the Lord Jehovah.
What is it to trust the Lord Jehovah? It's to trust Christ. Jehovah Jesus. God our Saviour. That's who it is. Be in absolutely
no doubt. You know, it isn't as if there's
salvation at the top of a mountain with God and it's the same God
that we all believe in but there are just different ways up the
mountain. No, only one. He alone is the way, the truth
and the life. Unbelievers will argue with you.
Unbelievers will tell you, well, there's no God. There's no God. I still can't remember his name.
You know, that professor of unbelief at Oxford University. No, I can't
remember his name. Dawkins. Richard Dawkins. That's
it. You know, his book, The God Myth. Oh, what a clever man. And he's written a book that
tells you there is no God. There's no eternity. Do you know
there was a London bus four or five years ago that had a big
advertising placard on the side of it, and it said, there is
probably no God, so stop worrying and enjoy yourself. That was
the placard on the side of London buses a few years ago, and it
was probably done by the Richard Dawkins Foundation. No God, no
eternity. Ah, do you know why? Do you know
why they're like that? There's no accountability. No accountability. They did not like to retain God
in their knowledge. There's no accountability to
God. So we can live as we want. Eat, drink and be merry, for
tomorrow we die. There's no consequences of anything. No accountability. And therefore, no point, is there? What's the point of it all? What's
it all for? That's as foolish as denying
the beauty of Switzerland because you've never been there and seen
it with your own eyes. It is, you know, just as foolish.
Here is the word of God himself, our Lord Jesus Christ. We've
heard his words. We read his words. This is his
words. These are they that speak of
him. This is the testimony of God's believing people who are
in and know the blessings and the goodness of being inside
Zion's walls of salvation. If you're outside of God's Zion,
I encourage you to come in and find eternal safety. Come through
Christ the way, the door, trusting his atonement. He bids you to
come to him. And I promise you, what God has
promised is eternal peace to your immortal soul. And I assure
you, as all his people know, that God can in no way fail to
deliver everything that he has promised. Amen.
