You that craft you own god, falling down before him, worshiping him, carrying him on you shoulder, sitting him where you want him to sit knowing he cannot move unless you move him, crying to him, . . . he can't answer you. He cannot save you.
6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
7 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

Last year I was down preaching
in western Kentucky and an old preacher sitting behind
me when I walked into the building, preaching for the David Callison.
This older man had been pastor of the church some years before. And I asked him, I said, did
you know Brother Wilbur Johnson? He said, everybody around here
knew Wilbur. Said, who didn't know Wilbur? I said, well, I
didn't know him well, but I knew him. He was a faithful preacher. First thing he said about Brother
Johnson, after everybody knows Brother Wilbur and he was a good
preacher, he said, it kind of went to seed on sovereign grace. Well, that was the wrong thing
to say to me. I said, I'm thankful he did. I wish other folks would.
I get the same comments. Folks seem to have the idea that
somehow your pastor is overboard in stressing God's sovereignty,
divine predestination, and God's purpose of grace. Well, let me
see if I can give folks reason to talk again. My subject tonight
is the sevenfold purpose of God. Turn with me to Isaiah chapter
46. The sevenfold purpose of God. In this 46th chapter of Isaiah,
as in many, many other passages of Scripture, but distinctly
this passage we're fixing to read, the Lord God makes His
purpose his purpose, the absolute certainty
of his purpose being accomplished. He makes the certain accomplishment
of his decrees, of his predestination. He makes the certain accomplishment
of all his will and all his pleasure, all his desire, and all his purpose. to be the one thing that distinguishes
him from all the imaginary gods of the universe. Now, in other
passages, he speaks of other things by which he's distinguished
as a just God and a savior. But here in Isaiah 46, the Lord
God makes this the distinguishing character of his being as God. This is that which sets him apart
from all that men have concocted and made and set up as though
they were gods, from all the gods of men, gods of men in the
past. And be sure you understand what
I'm saying. Be sure you understand what I'm saying. I'm not just
talking about the stump and totem pole gods of heathens and darken
lands and such as that. I'm talking about every imagination
of man. Every imagination of man about
who and what God is denies the sure accomplishment of God's
purpose. And God makes this the distinguishing
character of his being as God. Look at verse 3, Isaiah chapter
46. Harken unto me, O house of Jacob,
and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are born by
me from the belly, which are carried from the womb. You, the
children of Israel, the children of my choice, the sons of Jacob,
you're born by me from the belly. My grace with you didn't start
when you came to know about it. You're born by me from the belly.
You're carried by my hand from the womb. All the days of your
life, from the first breath to the last, I carried you in my
hand and I directed your steps and I ordered the affairs of
your life. even to your old age I am he
and even to whore hairs will I carry you I have made and I
will bear even I will carry and I will deliver you I'll save
you I'll save you verse 5 to whom will you liken me to whom
Will you liken me? We like to liken things. God
says to whom will you liken me? Now, men think they can liken
God to most anything. Men liken God to Pepsi Cola. He's the real thing. Men liken
God to an old man upstairs. Men liken God to a helpless grandpa. Men liken God to lots of things.
God says to whom will you liken me or make me equal? and compare me that we may be
like. They, the heathen, they lavish
gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire
a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god. Isn't that wonderful? They take their money, their
wealth. I mean, they take riches. and they hire him a goldsmith.
And they say, here, take my money, take my silver, and take my gold.
And he takes their silver and gold and maketh it a god. Now let's bow down and worship. They fall down, yay, they worship
this god, this god. And then they pick him up and
carry him. They'd bury him on the shoulder.
What's that you got on your shoulder? My God. Where are you going with
him? Where I want to go. What you
going to do with him? He's going to do what I tell
him. He's my God. I use him when I need him. They'd
put him on the shoulder and they'd carry him and set him in his
place. Now this is, this is where you
belong. Come to church and worship on
Sunday. Don't you interfere with my business on Monday. Come to
worship on Sunday. Don't you bother me in my house
on Thursday evening. Come to worship on Sunday. Don't
you interfere with what I do with my life any other time.
Set him in his place. And he standeth. From his place
he shall not remove. He can't. He's a wheelchair God. He's helpless. He's made of men,
used of men, placed where men want him, and useless to men. Yea, one shall cry unto him,
yet he cannot answer nor save him out of his trouble. Remember
this and show yourselves men. Quit acting like fools. Quit
acting like children who think if they Rub a rabbit's foot,
it'll bring good luck. Quit acting like children, fools.
Act like men. Bring it again to mind. Oh, you
transgressors. Verse nine. Remember the former
things of old. For I am God. And there is none
else. I am God and there is none like
me. There's none like me. Go through
town, anywhere you want to. Go through town and see if you
can find somebody who preaches to God anything like the God
we worship. Go find them. There's none like
me. There's none like me. What do
you mean by that? Declaring the end from the beginning. Not that I looked out and saw
Well, it looks to me like this is the way you folks are going
to choose to do things. So I foresee this is what's going
to happen. No, no. He says, I declared what
would be done from the beginning. Not I prophesied it, not I foresaw
it, I declared the end from the beginning. Declared it. And there's
no God doing that but me. And from ancient times, the things
that are not yet done saying. My counsel shall stand. And I will do all my pleasure. Now you hear folks talk about
the Lord's will. Oh, God's will for you. God won't
choose. God wishes, God would, God wants. Whatever is, whatever is, is
God's will. Now mark it down. Whatever is,
is God's will. Nothing comes to pass contrary
to God's will. God's pleasure and God's decree. This is that by which God distinguishes
himself as God. Is that what the text says? Can
you make anything else of it? Anybody? Can you make anything
else of it? My counsel shall stand. I will
do all my pleasure. And it doesn't matter what obstacles
seem to stand in the way. Well, how are you going to feed
your prophet who's hiding for his life? I'll call a ravenous
bird from the east. I'll call a raven. Not just a bird that normally
would eat seeds and has no interest in eating raw meat. I'll call
a raven. And the raven, rather than eating
the meat, will bring it and feed my prophet every day. That's
God. That's God. Why that's not likely
to happen is if God ordains it. And the man that executed my
counsel, I'll tell you who's going to bring you out of Babylon.
I'll tell you who's going to bring you out of the land of
your captivity. It shall be a man who is himself
a pagan who never knew my name. But I created him and ordained
him to deliver you. His name's Darius. He'll bring
you out. The man that executeth my counsel
from a far country. Now watch this. Yea, I have spoken
it. I will bring it to pass. I have
purposed it. I will also do it. We sometimes
speak of God's purpose, God's decree, God's predestination
as God's plan. Forgive me for ever using such
a term. You maybe will hear me use it
again, but I ought not to. to speak of God's purpose as
his plan is to kindly try to make it palatable to folks who
hate God's predestination and God because he is the God who
predestinated all that comes to pass. You see, a plan, we
all make plans, don't we? You've got plans for tomorrow.
I heard some of you discussing your plans earlier. You've got
plans, but Your plans kind of depend on whether it snows or
rains or a tornado comes up or a flood comes up or somebody
dies in the family or something catastrophic happens in your
life and you just can't do it. Your plans are meaningless. My
plans are meaningless. God's plans aren't meaningless.
You see, we plan, but Merle, we don't control our breath. much less anything else. God
has purposed and God controls everybody's breath and everything. And what God
purposed, he brings to pass. Verse 12, hearken unto me, you
stout hearted that are far from righteousness, you proud rebel,
listen to me. You far from righteousness. You despise my righteousness. Oh, you love the thoughts that
maybe you somehow have a little goodness in you, but you proud
rebels far from righteousness. Listen to me. Listen to me. This
is God speaking. I bring near my righteousness. You sit here today. robed in
Christ's righteousness. You sit here today with Christ
in you, who is himself the righteousness of God. You who are born of God,
it's because God Almighty brought near his righteousness. God put
righteousness in you in the new birth, giving you a new nature,
else you would have none. I bring near my righteousness.
It shall not be far off. and my salvation it shall not
tarry, and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel by glory. I will, in the end of this thing,
I will place salvation in Zion for my chosen covenant people
by glory. This is what I'm doing. The Lord
God identifies himself as God. He distinguishes himself as God. And from all who are called gods,
he separates himself with this declaration in verse 11. I have
spoken it. I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it. I will also do it. We believe
according to the scriptures that everything that comes to pass
in time is brought to pass by God's hand of providence, according
to God's purpose in predestination. If it comes to pass, God predestined
it and God brings it to pass. Well, what about Satan? What
about the demons of hell? What about all the things that
happen in time? What about wicked, evil men in
the universe? If it happens, God purposed it
and God brings it to pass. And Satan and the devils of hell
and wicked men are as much his servants as the most willing
angels in heaven, though they know it not. They are his vassals. They cannot
wiggle but by God's decree and by God's purpose. Let others
worship at the altar of good luck and misfortune and chance
if they wish. We worship the God of glory,
whose distinguishing glory he declares in the words of our
text. I have spoken it. I will also
bring it to pass. I have purposed it. I will also
do it. My good friend, Brother Gene
Harmon, frequently makes this observation. He says, there are
three women of ill repute whose names I'll never speak except
in contempt. Mother Nature, Lady Luck, and
Miss Fortune. We worship God Almighty. I'm here to declare as best I
can from this book, the absolute certainty of God's purpose. What God purposed came to pass
this day. What God purposed shall come
to pass tomorrow. And when this world is consumed
in the ball of fire that God himself lights by which he consumes
it, God's purpose shall have been brought to pass. Let's look
at some scripture. Turn to Romans chapter eight.
I want you to turn with me and look at these four or five texts
of scripture. Romans chapter eight. To the law and to the testimony,
if they speak not according to this word, It's because they're
sincere, good folks, but they just need to learn a little bit.
That's not what the book says, is it? To the law and to the
testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is
because there is no light in them. They live in darkness who
speak not according to this word. It's talking about preachers.
It's talking about preachers. If they speak not according to
this Word, it's because they don't have any light. All right,
let's see what the Word of God has to say. Romans 8, 28. We
know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are thee called. Well, how is it that all things
work together for good? You go to the funeral home and
you'll I stand by somebody who's standing at the end of the casket
and a person here has died in an automobile accident or a fire
or a tornado or slipped and fell on banana peel or something.
He just died, unexpected. And you're standing there and
folks come along and they'll say, well, boy, we don't understand
it, but we know that all things are going to work out all right.
Everything works out for good. That's not what the book teaches.
Somehow this is going to turn out good. Somehow it's going
to be all right. No, that's not what the book
teaches. All things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called. And David Burge, this is how
they work according to his purpose. This is God. This is our Heavenly
Father. Romans chapter 9, verse 11. Here the Apostle Paul, writing
by inspiration, tells us that God chose Jacob in everlasting
love and rejected Esau in everlasting hatred. Now preachers try their
best to explain that away. Let's just leave it just like
God states it and let men do what they want to. He said, I
love Jacob and I hated Esau. Well, I don't understand that.
Yes, you do understand it. That's the problem. You understand it
exactly as God stated it. Well, I just can't stand the
idea that God has that right. That's your problem. It's all
right for you to have that right. All right for you to love whoever
you want to and hate whoever you want to. Because you think you're
God. And men hate the doctrine I'm declaring to you because
they hate the God I'm declaring to you. Paul says God loved Jacob
and rejected Esau because he loved Jacob and hated Esau. And he reveals this fact to the
boy's parents. Watch this, that the purpose
of God, according to election, might stand not of works, but
of him that calleth. Wow, what does that mean? That
means the reason God chose to do what he did with Jacob and
Esau. And the reason God has chosen to do what he has with
all the human race, dividing them by his elected purpose into
two groups, either those who are his elect or those who are
reprobate. They're divided into those two
groups, sheep and goats, and the two shall never mix. That
in order he did this for this purpose, that everybody will
understand that God's mercy and God's grace doesn't have a frazzling
thing to do with your goodness. It doesn't have anything to do
with your works. It's according to the purpose
of God. Ephesians chapter 1. Paul He's again writing by inspiration,
speaking to us about God's everlasting salvation. He begins back in
eternity. He comes now through the accomplishment
of redemption, and he now deals with God's providence, and he
tells us that God's shown us his wisdom and prudence. Now
watch how he does it in verse 11. In whom, that is in Christ,
also we have obtained an inheritance. have obtained. You already in glory? Yeah. You already possess it? That's
what it says. We have obtained an inheritance
in the substitute before the world began. It's ours. Look at this. Being predestinated
according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after
the counsel of his own will. You mean we obtained this inheritance
in Christ when God predestined that we be with Christ in everlasting
glory, in the perfection of resurrection glory. You mean that's when we
obtained it? Well, that looks to me like if God willed it,
it was done when God willed it. does, doesn't it? That's just
exactly how it looks to me. Look at chapter three, verse
11. Here, Paul explains that he preached the gospel to the
Gentiles, even the unsearchable riches of Christ, that the manifold
wisdom of God in the gospel might be made known unto men. How is
that? According to the eternal purpose
which he purposed in Christ Jesus the Lord. One more text in this
regard, 2 Timothy 1.9. Paul is describing the gospel. I can't tell you how often I
was told when I was just a young teenage boy in seminary, Bible
college, how often I had been told throughout my life As a
believer, I've been told by folks who attempted to dispute that
which I'm preaching to you tonight. These things are, these things
are true, but now they're not, they're not vital. These things
are true, but you don't want to press them too hard. These
things are, they're true, but, but, you know, we talk about
these back in the office. People don't, they, they, preachers
really think like politicians. You folks too dumb to understand
this. They really, they can't get it. We talk about it back
yonder. We don't preach any back here. Here, the apostle Paul
is describing the gospel. as it were with his last breath
on this earth. This is the last letter he wrote
by divine inspiration. And he knew when he put down
his pen, he was about to die for the cause of the gospel.
And he writes to one dear to him, his young son, Timothy,
one converted under his ministry, raised up under him as a preacher
of the gospel himself. And he's describing to him now
the gospel he preached. And this is how he describes
it. God hath saved us. And called us with an holy calling. Not according to our works. But
according to his own. Purpose. His own and grace, watch this, which
was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. Now these
five texts we just read, these declarations of God himself in
his word, tell us five distinct things about the purpose of God. Number one, God's purpose is
eternal. It's eternal. And Ron, what's
eternal is unalterable. Nothing causes God to change
his mind ever. Well, what about when the scriptures
speak of God repenting? Obviously, the scriptures are
speaking about the appearance of God in action, not the character
of God in his purpose. God's purpose is eternal. Number
two, the purpose of God includes all things. All things according to his purpose. All things. Brother John, I can't
understand that. I can't either. I don't need
to understand it. I don't need to understand it. I guess I could find out. If
I were of a mind to how it is that a brown cow can eat green
grass and give white milk and yellow butter, but I really don't
care. I just drink the milk and eat the butter. I don't understand
all God's purpose and how it includes all things and God never
be charged with folly and never be charged with evil, but God's
purpose includes all things and he's perfectly righteous. And
if you don't like it, you can take it up with God and you will. I promise you. Number three,
God's purpose has the everlasting benefit of his elect for its
design. That makes it pretty good. What child would not be elated
elated, elated to know that her father or his father who has
proved his love and devotion to that child has absolute control
of everything. Would any of you object to that?
Anybody? Oh no, the only time men object
to it is when it comes to God Himself. That's the only time. That's the only time. Our Heavenly
Father rules everything according to His purpose for our benefit
because of His infinite designs of love for me. the cause of his infinite designs
of love for you. Lord God, in his purpose, being immutable and sure, declares
forthly, my counsel shall stand. What God does, he's always purposed
to do. and what comes to pass is according
to his purpose. And then fifthly, in its ultimate
end, when everything's done, God's purpose will accomplish
the eternal salvation of his elect and the glory of his name
in their salvation. He says, my salvation shall not,
will not, shall not tarry and I will place salvation in Zion
for Israel, my glory. Now, let me give you seven things
God has purposed, seven things. I can give you many, many more
that are clearly revealed in Scripture. Here are seven things
God has purposed, seven imperatives, things that must come to pass,
must come to pass. Number one, the crucifixion of
our Lord. Turn to Luke chapter nine, Luke
chapter nine, Luke chapter nine, verse 22. I begin here because this is
the most important of everything I've got to say. The Son of God
must suffer and die upon the cross. Our Lord says in Luke
9, 22, the Son of Man must. Must. That's a strong word, isn't
it? Must. Must. The Son of Man must suffer
many things. He must be rejected of the elders. He must be rejected of the chief
priest. He must be rejected of the scribes. He must be slain. And he must
be raised the third day. The Lord Jesus must die at Calvary. He said so. Our Lord's death
at Calvary, as Brother David sang this morning, was not something
that was a second thought with God. It was not something that
came to pass because the Jews wouldn't let him have his way
and be their king. Oh, no, he was born for the two. He came here to die upon the
cursed tree. Had he not died at the cross,
the purpose of God would not have been fulfilled. He must
die at Jerusalem in order to accomplish his covenant engagements
as our surety. He must die upon the cursed tree
because there's only one death specified in the Old Testament
Scriptures as a cursed death. And he must be obviously one
who dies as the cursed one. Cursed is everyone that hangeth
on a tree. He must be lifted up from the
earth, lifted up between earth and heaven, dying to fulfill
all the types and prophecies of the Old Testament Scriptures.
He must die upon the cursed tree at Jerusalem exactly according
to divine purpose to fulfill the prophets of the Old Testament.
It was absolutely necessary for our Lord to die at Calvary. Otherwise,
God could never have saved us. If the Lord will give me the
message, I hope to preach to you soon from the passage Brother
Frank read to us last Sunday evening, Daniel chapter 6, on
Darius and Delima. How could Darius deliver Daniel
and yet not violate the law of the Medes and Persians, which
once set could not be broken? He can't deliver Daniel. That's
how he can do it. He can't deliver Daniel. He can't
do it. Except Daniel himself meet what's
required by the law he wrote. So Daniel goes to the lion's
den. And he goes to the lion's den
with this word, with this word from Darius the king. He said,
Daniel, thy God is able to deliver thee. And then he goes the next
morning and he says, Daniel, is the Lord thy God able to deliver
thee? Daniel said, he is. He is. How's that? He stopped the mouths
of the lions. He stopped their mouths. Justice
now is satisfied and Darius brings Daniel out of the lion's den.
And so it is with the redemption of our souls. God Almighty put
us in his son and cast us under the fury of his holy law and
his justice and the fury of his wrath and his anger. He pierced
each one of his elect with the sword of justice in the person
of the substitute. And when he died, we died. And now God says, deliver him
from going down to the pit. I found a ransom. Justice has
been satisfied. And the law of God demands as
much as the mercy of God, the salvation of every sinner for
whom Christ died. And without that death, justice
could not be satisfied. Our text in Luke 9.22 also declares
that in order to save us, The Lord Jesus must rise from the
dead the third day. This is stated numerous times,
but that'll be sufficient. Our mighty Zerubbabel could not
build his church except the foundation stone be laid in Zion. And then
he arise from the dead to build upon that stone. And he who died
in our stead is declared to be the son of God with power by
his resurrection from the dead. And he who was delivered for
our offenses was raised again for our justification. That is
because justification is accomplished. And he who bear our sins in his
body on the tree to the tomb on the third day. came out of
the tomb justified in the Spirit. And now the resurrected Christ,
we are told, that one who lives forever, He, will you hear me? He is able
to save to the uttermost all them that come to God by Him.
He's able. You mean Brother Dodd? If I come
to God by Him, He's able to save me? He's able to save to the
uttermost all who come to God by Him. Because this one has
borne in His body the iniquities of His people. All their transgressions
made His. He who is the Holy Lamb of God
made to be sin for us, suffering all the fury of God in the room
instead of sinners until they drink the cup of damnation dry. And now this risen one is able
to save to the uttermost all who come to God by him. Here's
something else. Turn to Mark, Mark chapter 13. Mark chapter 13. You remember when we read this
morning in Revelation chapter 20 verse 3 After the little season
or after the thousands of years after this gospel age is ended
at the close of this gospel age The angel told John in his vision Satan must be loosed for a little
season He must be loosed This too is according to God's purpose.
God will send the nations a strong delusion that they should believe
a lie so that the whole world is drunk with the wine of Babylon's
fornications. And we see it all around us.
The religious world, the secular world, the whole world drunk
with Babylon, drunk with the stupidity, the ignorance, the
barbaric depravity, the barbaric degeneracy of our forefathers
from the darkest of ages in the darkest days of humanity. So
that these days pedophilia, what a horrible name for the evil,
homosexuality, fornication, adultery, all are just sort of, well, you
know, that's all right. It's all right. Defended and
protected by law under the name of righteousness. And the blame is laid at the
door of religion where men are worshiped as God. Our Lord said,
this is how it shall be. Satan shall be loosed a little
season to again deceive the nations of the world. But watch this,
Mark chapter nine, or chapter 13, verse 10. The son of God
says, the gospel must be published, must first be published before
the end comes. among all nations. Right in the midst of this terrible
age of apostasy, the Lord God raises up those two witnesses
slain in the streets of Jerusalem. He raises up the preachers of
the gospel, his church, and he causes the gospel to be heard
again. And we live in the midst of this day when the gospel is
being heard, preached among all nations. I can't tell you how it excites
me to serve God in this day. Never been such a day. Never
such darkness, never such light. Never such ignorance, never such
knowledge. Never such horrible degeneracy. Never such clear revelation as
we have in this day. God Almighty has raised up his
witnesses and the gospel is preached. I'm telling you, it is preached
among all nations. Everywhere. Everywhere. This
opportunity God's given us with this internet ministry, this
Free Grace Radio ministry, Oh my. I remember the first time
talking to Brother Mahan, trying to encourage him a little bit
after some hardship and heartache. He'd just begun having the messages
aired and getting, what, 2,000 or 3,000 people listening to
him. And he said, maybe, maybe this is how he's going to do
it. How's he going to do what? Have the gospel preached among
all nations. And you know what? Merle Hart,
what you're hearing tonight is going to be heard in at least
87 countries. At least 87 countries, unless
things change from what they had been. The gospel preached
among all nations to leave all men without excuse. And to save
God's elect. That's the reason gospel preached.
This is the means God's ordained for the salvation of his elect.
Here's the fourth thing. Look at John 10, verse 16. Our Lord Jesus says, other sheep I have, which are not of this
fold, them also I, what'd he say? Must break, must break. There'll be one fold, one shepherd. All the Lord's sheep. Every one
of God's elect must be saved Not a possibility if you're God's
you're gonna get away from him Not a possibility ain't gonna
happen he may take you through hell, but he gonna bring you
to glory He may he may use things that
seem so totally contrary to what men imagined God would do. But
if you're his, you're his, and he'll get you. He'll get you. But Brother Don, you ought not
tell folks that. Why not? It's true. It's true. Not only is it true, it's wondrous. And I'm perfectly content in
preaching the gospel, never to have to compromise anything.
I don't have to stand up here and try to trick you into anything.
I don't have to do something, try to con folks into getting
religion and acting, acting like the Christians when they're not.
I'm not going to do it. Not going to do it. No reason
to do it. It's all sham. It's all fake. I don't have to
do, I don't have to do anything. Compromise the gospel. I just
declare God's word. And God, by his spirit calls
out his elect when he will, where he will, but call them. He will
them also. I must break. Here's something
else. The Lord Jesus, we're told, must
reign. Saw this last week. He must reign
until he's put all his enemies under his feet. All of them. Every foe shall be subdued to
the Son of God. Every enemy. Everybody. Everybody. One of two ways. You'll bow to him and seek his
favor. You'll bow to him. I ain't bowing. If you're his, you will. If you're his, you will. Oh,
Nebuchadnezzar, look at this great kingdom I built. Hang on,
Nebuchadnezzar. Let me tell you who you are,
boy. And God drives him from his throne and turns him into
a beast. And I'm gonna tell you what God's
gonna do with you. He's gonna make you know you're nothing
but a wild beast. Just like he did Nebuchadnezzar.
And you'll bow to him. You'll bow to him. You'll bow
to him with trembling and fear. You'll bow to him knowing the
evil and depravity and corruption of your own heart. You'll bow
to him! Bow to Him and confess what you
are, and bowing to Him, obtain mercy for your soul forever.
Or you'll persist in your rebellion. You'll live on with your fist
in God's face. You'll live on defying God with
every breath. You'll go out of the world cussing
God and meet God in judgment and bow to Him. But bow to Him,
you will. Every knee shall bow and every
tongue confess. And then, then Christ must come. 10,000 of his saints to be glorified
in all his saints. And then judgment. We must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ, and receive each of us according
to that which we have done in the flesh, according to our works. David has stated so many times,
it can't be missed. You're either going to go to
hell according to your works, or you're going to glory according
to your works, but not works you performed personally. the works of a substitute, a
shirt. Works you performed in your covenant
head, Christ Jesus the Lord, or you'll perish according to
your own works. You sinners, seek his face whose
wrath you cannot bear. Trust the Son of God. Bow to
Christ the Lord. Worship Him who rules all things
for the saving of His people. Amen.
About Don Fortner
Don Fortner (1950-2020) served as teacher and pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Danville, Kentucky.
Pristine Grace functions as a digital library of preaching and teaching from many different men and ministries. I maintain a broad collection for research, study, and listening, and the presence of any preacher or message here should not be taken as a blanket endorsement of every doctrinal position expressed.
I publish my own convictions openly and without hesitation throughout this site and in my own preaching and writing. This archive is not a denominational clearinghouse. My aim in maintaining it is to preserve historic and contemporary preaching, encourage careful study, and above all direct readers and listeners to the person and work of Christ.
