Being a preacher, I feel like
I'm just getting started. And I know it gets bigger. It gets
bigger. But I also know it's the highest
calling that God can give a human being on the top side of this
earth. I'd have to step down to become the President of the
United States of America. And I'd rather, and as I have
done many times over the years, preached to a handful, as to
be the President of the United States. I love the Gospel. I love the Lord's people. There's
nothing more encouraging than to meet new saints of God, to
the saints here in Rescue, California, those who come from Minnesota
and here yonder and about. You know, God's people are precious,
precious people. They're delightful, I love them,
enjoy being with them. I enjoy the gospel. And it does
something for me and it does something for you that nothing
else in this world will do. It just, it just, it just, we
know that God gave it because it just does something for us
that nothing else in this world will do. Ain't that right? Well,
here I'm not going to read this whole chapter because there are
61 verses or 67 I believe in it. But I've titled my message
this morning, A Bride for Isaac. A Bride for Isaac. And I'll read
these first 10 verses and then come back and hopefully the Lord
will be pleased to bless us this morning. And Abraham was old
and well stricken in age, and the Lord had blessed Abraham
in all things. And Abraham said unto his eldest
servant of his house that ruled over all that he had, Put, I
pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and I will make thee swear
by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that
thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the
Canaanites among whom I dwell. But thou shalt go unto my country,
and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. And the servant
said unto him, Peradventure, the woman will not be willing
to follow me unto this land. That's always a tough thing. Maybe they won't be willing. Maybe they won't be willing.
And then he says this, Must thy knees bring thy son
again unto the land from which thou comest? Must I need to take
him down? Do I need to take him and bring
him down? If they don't like him, they
don't want him, am I supposed to bring him down to third level,
bring him down to where he can be a hat at any price or any
way? And old Abraham said, beware
that thou bring not thy son, bring not my son there again.
And the Lord God of heaven which took me from my mother's house,
and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and
that swore unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land.
He shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife
unto my son from thence. And if the woman will not be
willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this
my own. Only bring not my son there again. And the servant put his hand
under the thigh of Abraham his master. and sweared to him concerning
that master. And the servant took ten camels
of the camels of his master and departed, for all the goods of
his master were in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia
under the city of Nair. Now, you at your own leisure,
you can read this whole chapter. And here in this chapter, which
most people see as just a historical story, something to teach children
maybe, We have one of the clearest and fullest and most blessed
revelations of God's electing love and grace that you'll find
anywhere in God's Holy Word. Incredible, incredible revelation. Picture of our Lord Jesus Christ
getting His bride. The sinner and how that sinner
is brought to the sunset. Maybe she won't be willing. Well,
we're going to see how they're made willing. We're going to
see how they're made willing. There's four types. Four types
in this chapter I want us to look at. Abraham, first he's
a type of the Father. God the Father. Isaac is a type
of God the Son. Eliezer is a type of the Holy
Spirit who goes and does the Father's bidding. And of course,
Rebecca, the bride, she's typical of me and you. And I believe,
I hope this will be a blessing to you. It's always been a blessing
to me. But now, first of all, let's look at the Father. Let's
look at the Father. Now the father's purpose, by
him, he said, I want a bride for my son. And this was the
father's purpose. The father's purpose was in that.
Look what he said here in verse four. But thou shalt go unto
my country and to my kindred and take a wife unto my son Isaac. You see, it was the father's
purpose. And it was the father's will that the son have a bride.
It originated with him. It didn't originate with Isaac.
It didn't originate with Rebecca. It didn't originate down in there.
It didn't originate in Canaan. It started with the father. And
the father, before the world ever began, he had a purpose
to have him a bride. He had a purpose to bring glory
to his blessed son. And look on with me over here
in Isaiah. Keep Genesis now. Look in Isaiah
14 with me, just a moment. You know it says that the kingdom
of God is like unto a king who made a marriage supper for his
son. And you know God's eternal purpose
is in His blessed Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything about
God is eternal. And His purpose is eternal. And
you know He works all things after the counsel of His own
will. And the thing that God used more than anything to reveal
to me, the gospel. was that everything God has ever
done and ever will do is always done on purpose. I began to search
the scriptures in light of that word purpose. And oh my, you're
talking about changing the way you think. No accidents, no chances,
no misfortune, no lady luck, none of that. But look here in
Isaiah 14, 27, talking about God's purpose. The Lord and host
has sworn, saying, surely as I have thought, So shall it come
to pass. Now watch this. And as I have
purposed, so shall it stand. And so God had a purpose. And
the Lord Jesus Christ, He had a purpose to have a bride for
His Son. And Abraham said, Go get a wife
for my son Isaac. And it was God who saved us.
And He called us with the holy calling, not according to our
words, but according to His own purpose. and grace which was
given us in Christ Jesus before the world ever began. And oh
beloved soul, go down there. We know that all things work
together for good to them that are loved God and are called
according to His purpose. Now we think that purpose happens
means after we're converted everything's for our good. But from the time
we're born until the time God takes us home, everything in
our lives is according to God's purpose and it's good. And it's
good! It's good. Do you know why it's
good? Because God said it's good. And it's on purpose. I was born
where I was born on purpose. I was born to the parents I was
on purpose. I went through the life I went
through on purpose so that when God would bring me to Himself,
then I would see that I saved on purpose and make me abhor
my sin. And what all my sin I take for
myself, but all the grace I give to Him and all the glory. Then
what else he said down here in Genesis 24 and verse 4. But he
says, but thou shalt go unto my country and to my kingdom
and take a wife. Now what in the world do you
reckon that means? That means he said go to my country. The
earth is the Lord's and the fullness there. Is there any place you
can go on this earth that don't belong to God? The cattle on
a thousand hills is mine. The gold is mine. The earth is
the Lord's and the fullness thereof. So this whole country is His.
Everything about it belongs to Him. And then He says, go to
my kindred. Let me tell you something about
that. He says, you go down where my people are. God's always had
a people. He says, you go to my kindred.
And that's why He means God's not ashamed to be called our
God. That's why Paul said, when it pleased God who separated
me from my mother's womb and called me by His grace. He told
Jeremiah, before I formed you in the belly, I knew you and
I ordained you to be a prophet. And you see, beloved, for whom
He did foreknow. It's He. He also predestinated. Whom He predestinated, He called,
He justified, He glorified. And so you see, God's always
had a people. And He goes and gets His people
from out among His people. You may be out here in the world,
but it's God's world and wherever you're at, if you want to hear,
somebody's coming after you. Ain't that right? Somebody's
coming after you. The servant's coming to get you.
And you may not know nothing about it. You know, that's what's
the one. We're on the trail of God's sheep. I'm not looking
for no goats. I'm not trying to separate the
sheep from the goats. I'm just on the trail of God's
sheep, and I'll tell you that, and listen, they're going to
be found. I don't find them, God finds
them. But that's why He says, you go to My country, go to My
kindred. Now also, a bride for Isaac was
started with the Father's purpose. Now look at the Son's position
over here in verse 35. Just look at the Son. Typical
of our Lord Jesus Christ. Just look at Him. You see, the
Father sought everything for the Son. The Father's purpose
is to be fulfilled in the Son. And the first thing that Eliezer
said was this. He said, I am Abraham's servant.
Now watch it. And the Lord hath blessed my
master greatly. Everything belongs to God. And
He has become great. And he hath given him flocks,
and herds, and silver, and gold, and men's service, maid's service,
camels, and asses. Now watch this. And Sarah, my
master's wife, bear a son to my master when she is old, and
unto him hath he given everything that he's got. The father said, Oh, everything
belongs to my son. Everything that I've got, I've
given to him. Everything, my whole purpose. My whole will and all my goods,
everything, I've given over to Him. And the Father loveth the
Son, and I've given all things into His blessed hands. You know,
look at, you keep this. I want you to see Colossians
with me, just a moment. This is, you're going to, if
you're like me, you're going to love this. But over in Colossians
chapter 1, you know, the Father sought everything for the Son.
He loved the Son, and all His purposes fulfilled in the Son.
Now, He has given all things unto the Son. All things belong
to Him. And you know, when our Lord Jesus
prayed in John 17, He says, Father, I pray not for the world, but
for them that Thou hast given Me out of the world. Everything
God has, Christ gave. And oh, beloved, our Lord Jesus
Christ, God loved Him. He's the heir of everything.
Everything. God made Him heir of the world
and everything in it. Now, look here in verse Verse
16, I want you to see this. I want you to see two things. For by Him were all things. By Him were all things. Now watch
it now. Go down to the bottom of that
verse. All things were created by Him before me. He is before
all things. By Him all things. Everything's
by Him, for Him, because of Him. That's what the Father's will
and purpose is. Everything's in the Son. By Him, for Him,
because of Him, through Him. And if you've got the Son, you've
got everything. What He's got, you've got. I
told you the other day about that preacher. You know, his
daddy left him millions. Millions. Millions. Now he's got to be running around
trying to figure out what he's going to do with all his money.
What he's going to put here, what he's going to put there, how it's going
to go. And I told that fellow, I said, man, I've got more than
he's ever dreamed of having. I said, I've got everything God
has. I've got his son and everything the son has, I've got. The son
has had everything. And guess what? I'm going to
go out there with him. I'm his brother. He's not ashamed
to call us brethren. And I'm His brother, so everything
He's got, I've got. He inherits glory, I go to glory
with Him. He has streets of gold, I walk
on streets of gold. He's got walls of jasper, I've
got walls of jasper. He's got eternal glory, I've
got eternal glory. He has access to the Father,
I have access to the Father. All the silver and gold in the
hills is His. That's my silver and gold. I
stood years ago with some old boys down home. He had a little
old country store, and I was standing there in his parking
lot, and I looked out over Spitzer Mountain there in Tennessee. Big old huge mountain as far
as you could see, big old valleys, just beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. And I stood there, and I said,
oh, just to thank. My father owns every bit of this.
I'm just talking to myself. And he said, what in the world
are you talking about? Your father owns all that. He
said, I don't know who owns that land. It ain't your daddy. I
said, oh, it is my father too. You just don't know it. That's
the truth. I said, you just don't know it.
My daddy owns it all. I can't trespass nowhere because
it all belongs to him. Ain't that right? And oh, beloved, that's what
our Lord Jesus said. All things, all things by him
and for it. God, who at sundry times and
in divers manners, in time past, spake unto the fathers by the
prophets, hath in these last days spoken in the Son, by whom
He appointed heir of all things, after He by Himself purged our
sins. Sit down at the right hand of
the Majesty on high." And I went right up there with him and sat
down. Huh? It don't look like I'm sitting down, but I am. I'm
resting. Believe me. And that's He gave
Him a name that's above every name. All the fullness of the
Godhead dwells in Him. He has an everlasting dominion.
Everlasting dominion. Eternal dominion. Now, there's
the Father. There's the Son. The Father's
purpose in the Son. In the Son, the Father's made
Him heir of everything. Now, let's look at this bride
just a minute. Let's look at this bride. It says again in
verse 4, Now don't you take my son down
there. And that's why we're not, by God's grace, we're not going
to take the son down. Me and my wife were talking the
other day, and most folks, I'm telling you, they've used the
Lord Jesus Christ as a doormat. He's a doormat. The only time
they want Him and need Him is whenever they get dirty some
way. They get in trouble. They get sick, get jailed, have
marital problems, have trouble with their boyfriends, girlfriends,
financial problems. Well, I know what I'll do. I'll
go to Jesus. And they'll come in there and
they'll just wipe their feet off, get good and clean, get all gassed
up, and get right back out there. But that's not the way the Lord's
people is. Now, look what this bride prospect was. It says,
Darren, thou shalt go unto my country, unto my kindred, and
take a wife unto my son Isaac. Now, I want you to understand
this. She had no clue that this conversation was going on. She was totally unaware of it.
She didn't have a clue. She didn't know anybody named
Abraham. She didn't know Isaac. She didn't
know that they was up there in that other country. She didn't
know that anybody knew her. Didn't know where she was, what
she was doing, what she was like in any way. She was totally,
absolutely unconscious of anything going on about us. But before
she knew it, before she was told, before that servant ever went
after her, she was going to be the bride, son's bride. She's sitting down there, well,
just going on about her business. But God already has somebody
on her trail. She don't know nothing about
it. Oh, don't that do something for
you? Oh, that blesses my heart. I
can't see what it does for me. I sit there twiddling my thumbs
just Like a blind hog, couldn't even find an acorn. And then
the Lord Jesus had His affection set on me. Had His affection
set on you. He loved you with an everlasting
love. They took that infant and threw
him out in the field because he was lame and crippled. And
that was wrong. We never washed him. But God
came by and said, it's the time of love. And He washed him and
He swaddled him and spread His skirt over him. Why? Because
He loved him. Oh my! And not only did she not
know that she was going to be the bride and the son, but she
was going to be joining heirs with him and have everything
he did. Tell you something else about this bride. She was far
off in another country. She was way off over yonder.
How are you going to get her from there to here? That wasn't
my problem. That's Eliezer's problem. That's
the father's problem. Huh? And oh, you reckon you can
get her over there? Our Lord Jesus said, I lay down
my life for the sheep. And there's other sheep which
are not of this fold, them also I... I sure hope I can get them
there. I'm going to do my best. I'm
going to work at it. I'm going to beg. I'm going to
plead. I'm going to entice. I'm going to do what I can. No,
no. He said, them also I must. Must. Oh, must bring. I'm going to tell you something
about, you know, people say God don't get you by the napping
neck and bring you. If He don't get you by the napping neck,
you ain't coming. Folks don't like, you know, like
free will in Armenia despise that. But if God don't reach
and get you, you ain't coming. You know when Peter drew that
sword to cut off Malchus's ear? That's the same Word that He
uses to bring us. He reaches and gets hold of us. With an unseen hand, but you
know He'll come. Ain't that right? I'm telling
the truth now. Oh, listen. We're off in this
far country, but all that the Father giveth me. What are they
going to do? They're going to come to me. And we were already
saved and called with the Holy Calling in Christ before God
ever made this world. And, oh beloved, now the calling
was with God, but we had to be called in time, and that's what
happened to this bride. She's down there, she's unconscious,
but the call has went out. Who sent it out? The Father did.
Who did He send to get her? The Holy Spirit to get her. Do
you reckon He's going to get her? Yes, He's going to get her.
You know, the Lord Jesus Christ, it says, you know, if a man has
99 sheep and one of them be lost, or 100 sheep and one of them
be lost, he goes into the wilderness. And Christ comes into the wilderness.
The Holy Ghost comes into the wilderness. The wilderness of
faith. The wilderness of religion. The wilderness of tradition.
The wilderness of customs. And He comes and He finds that
sheep. And He finds that lost sheep.
He picks it up. Lays it on His shoulder. Lays it on His shoulder. And
I'll tell you something, beloved. He never sets it down once He
picks it up. And this is what the Lord is about our Savior.
He can carry all His sheep all at the same time. And never lose
a one of them. Ain't that right? You know, we
do this. And Milton was talking about
it yesterday. We raise our kids to be independent when they grow
up. I failed very bad at that. I'm
not very independent. But see, we raise them to be
independent. And to walk on their own, but
that's one thing God never does. In fact, He does just the opposite.
He teaches us dependence. Dependent. Depend. Lean. I'm carried. I mean, at this
moment in time, the Lord Jesus Christ has me on His shoulder.
And you know when He talks about the government being on His shoulder?
It don't say shoulders. It says one. He only needs one
to carry the government. He's got all the sheep on the
other. I've been our Savior's glorious
and great. Ain't that right? Oh my, you
know Eve. Eve was in Adam the moment he
come out of the dust. God had to take her out of there.
And we were in Christ from the foundation of the world. Ain't
that right? God took His bride out of him.
Now let's see what this preacher is going to say, this servant.
And the servant, I told you, is typical of the Holy Spirit.
Let's look at what he's going to do now. First up here in verse
2. He had authority in the house. Abraham said unto his eldest
servant of his house, that run over all that he had. See, he
had authority in the house. He is the one that Abraham said,
you do this. And so here He is. He's the one
with authority. And the Holy Ghost, He's the
one with the authority. I have no authority to confer.
I have no authority to give anybody any assurance. None of these
preachers do. Only the Holy Ghost does. And then, look what it
says, and He was sent by the Father. The Father is the one
who sent Him. Our Lord Jesus says, you know,
the Holy Ghost, the Comforter will come, whom my Father shall
send unto you. He'll send Him to you. And oh,
beloved, what did He do? He was sent in the name of the
Son. Now I want you to go and tell about my Son. You go and
He takes the things of Christ and reveals them unto us. He
takes the things of Christ and makes us to know them and to
show them unto us. Now look over here in verse 32. What does He do? Well, He comes
and declares the Father's purpose. Never speaks of Himself. And
the man came, in verse 32, into the house And he ungirded his camel and
gave straw and provender for the camels and water to wash
his feet and the men's feet that were with him. And they're setting
meat before him now. Here's Eliezer. They set some
meat before him. But he said, I'm not eat. I'm
not going to eat until I told you what I'm here for. I've got
one reason to be here. I'm not going to eat. I'm not
going to do nothing. I've got to tell you what I'm here for.
Look what he says now. The first thing he said, I'm
Abraham's servant. He didn't speak of himself. He never pointed
to himself. You can always tell a false preacher,
he's not preaching Christ because where the Holy Spirit's at, he's
always testifying in Christ. He's not speaking in unknown
tongues. He's not causing people to get wild eyed and wallow in
the floor. He's not causing people to sway to and fro and clap their
hands and all that. He is speaking of the Lord Jesus
Christ wherever He's at. You can always tell a man's ministry,
if he's called of God, he's going to be speaking of Christ. The
Holy Spirit speaks of Christ. Think what he says. Now, I'm
just Abraham's servant. And oh, and what does he begin
to talk about? He begins to talk about the Father. Talks about
Abraham. And ain't that what the Holy
Spirit begins to talk about the Father? The Lord hath blessed
my master greatly. He's become great. God's given
him silver, gold, men, servants, and maidservants. And then he
talks about the Father's will, the Father's purpose, the Father's
glory. And then he says, but you know the Father has all of
His eggs in one basket. And he said, And Sarah, my master's
wife, bear a son to my master when she is old, and hath given
unto him all things. He talks about the father, then
he begins to talk about the son, everything being given to him.
Now watch what he goes on to say. And my master made me swear,
Don't take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites
of whose land I dwell, but you shall go unto my father's house
unto my kindred, and take a wife unto my son. And oh, he was true
to his message, true to his purpose, true to what he was sent to do.
And oh, let me show you something over here in verse 53. Again,
verse 53, just a moment. And this servant began to take
the things of Christ and show them unto her. Now, what did
he begin to say? He said, Now the Father has given
everything to the Son. And he, then the servant, brought
forth jewels of silver. Now he's with Rebekah, and we'll
get to her in a minute. And he began to show her the riches
of Isaac, and all that Isaac has inherited, and all the wealth
he has, and all the glory he has, and all the power he has,
and all the majesty he has. And the servant brought forth
jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to
Rebekah. What in the world does this mean?
Silver is the redemption. Wherever you find silver in the
scriptures, it's redemption. Here's the Father's redemption
purposes in the Son. And then the gold. Showed Him
the gold. That's His deity. That's His
power. That's His glory. That's His
wealth. That's His riches. That's His deity. And then Raymond!
Oh! Look at this glorious garment
here. This is going to be yours. This silver, this gold, this
redemption, this gilded, this raiment, this garment, this glorious,
wealthy garment, this robe of life, it's going to be yours.
It's going to be yours. Oh, you see what's going on here.
Ain't that something? And then, oh beloved, look what
it says. And He gave them to the man. Just gave them to her. Just gave them to her. Said,
here. Here's the silver. Here's your redemption. Here's
His deity. Here's His righteousness. Here's
His glory. Here's His power. It's all yours.
And oh, beloved, and listen, when this servant starts home,
guess what he does? He's responsible to get the bride
all the way back. Well, go down to verse 61. And Rebekah arose and her damsels,
and they rode upon the camels, and watch this, and followed
the man. Followed the man. And the servant took Rebekah
and went his way. And I'll tell you something,
beloved. He guides all the way home. He's going to see to it
that we get all the way to glory with our Lord Jesus Christ. You
know, the Holy Ghost cannot comfort us, cannot have fellowship with
us, until He makes known the character of the Father and the
Son. And then when He makes that known
to us, then we have His comfort, then we have His truth. He's
going to make known the Father and the Father's purpose. He's
going to make known the Son and the riches and the power and
the glory of the Son. All of God's purpose is fulfilled
in His blessed Son. And I'll tell you something else,
when He went down there to look for her, something He didn't
do. He didn't go down and scream, Hey! My master's got a boy up here,
a son up here, and he's wanting somebody to please be his bride. He wants somebody to be willing.
Oh, anybody want to be his wife? He never went through there,
hollering and yelling and carrying on, would you? Who wants to do
it? Anybody like to do it? He went to one person. told one
person, dealt with that one person, revealed to that one person.
And that's why we don't have invitations. God knows where
they are. He's going to go get them. Ain't He, Don? Yeah. You may not know
who they are, but God does. He went after a particular person.
And that's why we're not out here begging and pleading and
cajoling folks Asking them if they will and won't and all that.
I know what people do. They will not come to Christ.
Nobody else would have come either, but he was sent to one. And oh,
when she began to look at that silver and gold, she said, My
soul, this man, he's somebody. He's glorious. And all this man
has done is went down and told about Abraham and told about
Isaac. That's all he's done. Never told about anything else.
Well, you know, remember he says, you reckon she, what if she's
not willing to come? What if she's not willing? Well,
let's look here and see what made her willing. Down in verse
58. That's why I say you need to
read this whole chapter to get the, get the gist of this whole
thing. And it says down in verse 58, they called Rebecca and said
unto her, will thou go with this man? What does she say? I will go. I'll go. Oh, I'll go. Oh, the gospel is the power of
God unto salvation. To them which are being saved,
Christ is the power of God. Christ is the wisdom of God.
Oh, bless you. When we preach Christ, and folks,
Don said it last night sitting there at the table. He says,
you know, when you see the Son, You know, he's talking about
when he was a young boy, and he looked up at the solar eclipse
and he saw the sun, he seen sunspots in his eyes forever, for a long
time. He said, and that's the way it
is, that when you look at the sun, if you ever are blessed
to see the sun, the son of God, you'll have sunspots the rest
of your life. That's all you'll ever see, is that sun. Huh? And oh, the son of righteousness
who arises with him. But oh, look how it attracted
Rebecca. There was no pleading. He never said, would you please?
Are you willing? I would like for you to. Would you open your heart? No,
he just went and told her the situation, told her about Isaac,
told her about Abraham, told about the purpose, told about
the gold, told about the silver, told about the Raymond. And it
was the goodness. and the glory of the Father,
and everything He had, and the blessed Son, and all that was
given to Him, that won her heart to Isaac, even without sin, whom
having never seen, we love and rejoice with joy unspeakable
and full of glory. Now watch what happens now. Look
back up here in verse 55. And her brother and her mother
said, Let the damsel abide with us just a few days, Let her stay
at least 10. After that, she can go. Honey, don't go. Don't go. We
want you to stay just a little while longer. Don't go with that
man. Oh, my. And the servant said
unto him, Hinder me not, sin the Lord hath passed from my
way. Send me away that I may go. Oh, my. Mama said don't go. His brother
said, oh, honey, stay just a little while longer. And that's why,
you know, Paul said, we don't confer with flesh and blood.
When you hear the Gospel and you hear some truth, don't go
ask Granny whether it's so or not. Don't go ask Granny. No, no. Don't go to anybody.
Don't go to your neighbor. You know what he's going to say?
You better not go back up there. Stay away from that place. In
fact, here recently, I was gone, They said some woman comes and
she calls several churches asking for a place to go. She said,
where you can go here, you can go there, you can go there. But
there's a church out on Lantana Road. Don't, whatever you do,
don't go out there. Dang, I've got a strange belief. That woman said, I got to go
out there. She wasn't strange about it. Everybody she talked
to said, go anywhere but go there. And they told me when I got home
about that, you know. But anyway, it must have been
strange. She ain't been there. Oh, me. But here she goes. And they said, oh, my. They brought
the woman in. Don't you dare go in the park.
You just keep coming and listening. You just keep coming in here.
Don't go ask mama. Don't go ask daddy. Don't go
ask your aunt or uncle or nobody. You just keep coming. Watch what
happens now. She said, we'll call the dancer.
Let's call her and see what she wants to do. Let's see what she'd
like to do. And oh my. They said to her,
will you go with this man? I'm ready to go. Let's go now. Let's go right now. If he's ready
to go, I'm ready to go. I'm going. Mama's told, Mama,
I'm going. I'm going. Well, I don't know
about you. I'm going. Oh, darling, please.
I'm going. Oh, listen, you're going to have
to walk away and leave everything if you come into Christ. You've
got to come for yourself. You can't come for your husband,
your wife, your children, nobody. You've got to come for yourself.
And oh, she left all behind. Why? For the glory that had been
revealed to her. When he began to tell about Abraham
and his blessed person and purpose. How that the father sinned. And
then he began to take the riches of the son, the silver and the
gold and the raiment, and began to describe him to her. And oh,
listen, if I asked you to describe the Lord Jesus Christ, how would
you describe him? You would not describe a physical
person, would you not? You would say, well, he's probably,
I think he's 5'9", probably weighs 165 pounds, probably got dark
hair. No, you do not describe a physical
person. You describe a personality. You
describe someone and you begin to describe his attributes. You
begin to describe his will. You begin to describe His power,
and His glory, and His love, and His grace, and His wisdom,
and His purpose, and His clothes, His righteousness, and His justification. You begin to describe a person,
and all that He's done, and all that He is to you. And oh my,
the half ain't been told yet. And I'll tell you, beloved, I
want you to look with me in 1 John chapter 5. Just a moment. I'll
be done in a minute. You know, she trusted everything.
to Abraham's promise. Now Abraham said, I'm giving
everything to the Son. She hadn't seen the Father. She
hadn't seen the Son. So she accepted everything by
faith before she ever got there. Ain't that right? Ain't that
what we do? We accept everything by faith. Look here in 1 John
5. And that's what you've got to
do. And oh, God will help you to do it now. If you're not a
believer, God will help you to believe at this moment. I've tried, and I know God has
and Milton has, we've tried to describe Christ and His glory
and His power and His majesty and His love and His grace and
His righteousness and His eternal purpose and all mine. You say, well, you reckon God
would have anything to do with me, He will in His Son? Well,
look what it says here in verse 9, 1 John 5, 9. If we receive the witness of
men, Now I've stood here and witnessed to you, and these men
have witnessed to you, Gene's witnessed to you, we witness
to you. We tell you what we know, but the witness of God's greater.
We're just telling you what God said. And this is what God bears
witness to. What does God witness to? God's
testified of His Son. That's what Abraham, that's what
he's interested in. I want a bride for my son, because
I've got everything vested in my son. All of my wealth, all
of my power, all of my glory, the promise, everything's in
my son. Now watch this. And he that believeth
on the Son of God hath to witness it himself. You don't need me
to witness whether God's done something for you. You don't
need the church to witness if God's done anything for you.
You've already got the witness. Oh my. How do you have the witness? God gave it to you. God bore
witness to your heart. And he that believeth not God
hath made him a liar. He said, well, I just don't believe
what God has said. I just don't believe that's true. Because
he believeth not the record that God gave of his son. And that's
what, there's a word down there. He bore record to the son and
what the father told him to tell him. And this is the record.
This is it. This is what God records. God
recorded in eternity. God recorded in His Word. He's
recorded in my heart. This is the record that God has
given to us. Watch this. Eternal life. Given
it to us. Just like He gave Rebekah those
things of Isaac. And this life is in His Son. It's in His Son. Oh, now listen. He that hath the Son, and with
Rebekah, She said, O my, she took the things of the Son, and
he that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath the Son of God
hath not life. And I ripped these things to
you, that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. Alright,
let's go back over here and finish this up. Look here and now at
verse 62. Excuse me, verse 63. And Isaac went out into the field,
meditating in the field at evening time. walk around in the field. I do that at home, but we live
on a farm. And I go out walking around in
the evening, late in the evening, walk around the pond and things.
And here he's out walking around in the field this evening. And
watch this. And he lifted up his eyes. What
did he see? And he saw some camels coming.
Isaac saw her coming before she ever got there. The father said,
Oh, there's my son. We all got him. And there he
sees her coming. And oh, beloved, look what happens
now. In verse 62, Rebekah lifted up
her eyes. And when she saw Isaac, she jumped
off that camel. My, that is why she done it.
She said, sir, what man is this that walketh in the field to
meet us? Who is this man? She'd never seen Him before.
Oh, boy. And the servant said, It's my
Master. It's my Master. Boy, she's not like us. She covered
herself. She covered herself. She'd come
in humility. She'd come submitting. And she
covered herself. And oh, my. She found a husband. She found her true life. She
found everything she needed in Him. And oh, beloved, she'd come
and she covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all
things that he had done. Now watch this. And Isaac brought
her unto his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became
his wife. And listen, and he loved her. He loved her. And you know, she'd
come home to a home that she didn't even know existed. Came
to a man she didn't even know. And she fell head over heels
in love with him before she got there. And you know, one of these
days, that's what's happening to us, that we've got the message.
Christ has come and told us, and he prayed in John 17, 24,
Father, I will that they whom thou hast given me be with me
where I am. And guess what? We will. We will. Lord bless you.
