It is so very, very good to be
with you all again. It's been too long and I apologize. It's always a delight to be with
you, and the folks in Danville ask me to say hello. We pray
for you continually, for your churches, and for God's blessings
upon your ministries together. The subject this morning is going
to be the work of God the Holy Spirit. I want us to start in
1 John chapter 5 and verse 7. This passage, is eliminated from almost all
modern translations. Those that have it, included
in the translation, generally make a note saying it shouldn't
be there. But that is without foundation. We find it in the more ancient
translations of Holy Scripture. It is in the earliest translations
of Holy Scripture, and was never questioned. until folks began to raise questions
about the Holy Trinity, denying the eternal deity and absolute
Godhead of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let's read the statement together. There are three that bear record
in heaven. Three that hold the testimony
in heaven. Ever bearing witness of all things. Bearing witness of all things
from eternity. as the eternal God, Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, who have ordained all things that come to pass.
There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. Of course, you know the word
refers to Jesus Christ, God's eternal Son. John uses the same
language in John's Gospel, chapter 1. In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God. It's interesting the way John
expresses himself. There are several different words
that are translated, with. The word that is used here is
not the word that would be used if I were shopping with my wife. When I am compelled to go to
the store with her, I'm with her, but I'm way behind her.
And one of the words would be with, but way back here. Whenever I'm thinking about, Cuando yo estoy pensando, going
to buy something for my truck, she may go with me, but I'm way
ahead of her. She's many steps behind. There's a word that's
with, it means that. The word John uses, In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God. See the difference? And the Word
was God. Quite literally, and God was
the Word. Alright, so back here in 1 John
5, 7. There are three distinct persons
that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Ghost. Now watch this. And these three are one. Not
like one. Not similar to one. Not almost one. One. Now, it's so important that we
understand this. The most important things revealed
in the gospel. The most glorious. The most delightful.
The most comforting. are infinitely beyond human comprehension, much less
explanation. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds
of books have been written about the Trinity. In fact, I've read
hundreds of them. written by good men. And the more they say about it,
the muddier it gets. None of them have explained it
or even illustrated it. God condescends to reveal himself to us in human
language. But the three persons, Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, distinct individual persons, one God,
eternal, unchangeable, always the same, Now, all three persons of the
Godhead are continuous at the force of Scripture as being the
source and the worker of all our salvation. Sometimes different aspects of
God's saving grace are set before us as being specifically the
work of the Father, or of the Son, or of the Holy Spirit. But
if you read carefully the Scriptures, you'll see, sometimes, When we talk about the purpose
of God, election for example, we will see that election is
said to be by the Son. Sometimes you will find that
redemption is said. to be by the Father or the Spirit. What I'm saying is this. We must
never attempt to get all the person and work of God to fit
into our box. I've been coming down here for
more than 30 years. You men have been studying together
all that time. Because the subject matter of
our God, His grace, His salvation, is just too big to get all together.
It's too great for us. The more we know, the less we
know. We recognize how little we know,
and the bigger we see Him to be. Yet in order for us to get
a handle on things, God speaks to us in certain ways revealing his
works, and all the way through the scriptures.
He speaks of himself as a plural God, but one God. And he speaks
of himself in all his works as being for
his glory and the saving of his people. The first man Adam was
made. Do you remember what God said? Let us make man, not let me make
man. Let us make man in our image and after our likeness. The Holy Spirit reveals in the
Word here, as Paul gives that great benediction
in 2 Corinthians 13. He speaks of the love of God,
the Father, and the communion of the Holy Ghost. and the mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Son of God. Now turn with me, if you will,
to Ephesians chapter one. Here is a tremendous passage
of Scripture, revealing the whole work and purpose of God in our
salvation. Let's begin at verse three. God the Father hath Notice it's in the past tense.
One time. Had blessed us with all spiritual blessings. How
many are those? What's lacking? All of them. All spiritual blessings. Nothing lacking. When did it do it? It did it
in heavenly places, that is, in covenant mercy, in a covenant
head, in a covenant surety, in Christ. God ordained the triune God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and purposed to reveal himself
in all the fullness of his being, in one person, the incarnate
Christ. Who stood before Him as our surety
before the world began. And the Lord God said that in
Him are all things. Put all things in that surety.
And said let Him have preeminence and praise. In the fullness of
time Christ came. And in him, that man who is God,
that God who is man, dwelleth constantly, without variation,
all the fullness of God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
so that the Christ, the Mediator, our surety, is all the revelation
of God. All we know of God is revealed
in Christ. All we hear from God, we hear
from Christ. All we receive from God, We receive
in Christ the mediator. Now watch this. That was done
from eternity. And it's continually being done
in the works of his grace today. How has he blessed us with all
these spiritual blessings? According as he hath chosen us
in him. before the foundation of the
world. Now, here's the object, the object
of God's purpose of grace, that we should be holy and without
blame before Him. Now, sometimes we will use expressions that are true, but not true in the
way we use them. People say, God chose us to be
holy. And then start telling folks all kinds of works they ought to do in
order to be holy. Election is unto holiness, and
then this is how you make yourself holy. Holiness that men can see
is not holiness. You have an expression down here,
we want folks to see Jesus in me? You hear folks say, I want
people to see Jesus in me. They didn't see Jesus in Jesus.
And they're not going to see Him in you. Holiness that men
can see. is not holiness. Here Paul tells
us that we should be holy and without blame before him. That's
holiness. When you and I can stand before
God Almighty, and God behold no sin in us, but look upon us
perfectly righteous, because in His Son we are actually without
sins, and perfectly righteous. Sometimes we think that God's
work is He just says, Cody's righteous, but Cody's not really
righteous. If God reckons you righteous,
it's because He has made you really righteous. No matter how contrary that may
appear, in your own thoughts and experiences,
or in any isolated act of evil arising from your nature, how
does God make us Holy, and without blame, before
Him, so that we are worthy, worthy, worthy of God's acceptance in
heavenly glory. Three things necessary. Three
things absolutely necessary. One is just as important and
necessary as the other. Destroy one, and you destroy
them all. And bless God, none can be destroyed. The work of the Father, the work
of the Son, and the work of the Holy Spirit. All three necessary. You cannot stand holy before
God except the Father, except you in His Son. And that was
done before the world began. Our Lord Jesus Christ is spoken
of as the land slain from the foundation of the world.
Would you like to try to explain that? I can't explain that. But
I can believe it. For God said it. And before the world began, Jesus Christ, in the mind and
heart of God, listen to that, as if God had a mind or a heart.
You understand what I'm saying? He condescends to use terms that
we can understand, to communicate His glory and grace. In the mind and purpose of God,
in his heart, from all eternity, Christ was slain. He fulfilled
all requirements for us. He was accepted as our sacrifice. Now look at this. in love having predestinated
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself. He
predestinated us to obtaining All the glorious blessedness
of being adopted as his son, but he don't. according to the good pleasure
of His will, to the praise of the glory of
His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted into the beloved.
He did all this Before ever he did anything? Before ever he spoke the world
into being? Accepted us into beloved. Now,
if he accepted us into beloved, how do you reckon he accepted
us? holy, and without blame, from
everlasting. Somebody says, well, if you believe
that, that makes the work of the Son in redemption, and the
work of the Holy Spirit in grace, unnecessary. Oh no! makes it dead sure. Because God the Father, God the
Son, and God the Holy Spirit accepted us in the Son from eternity. In time, He reveals His grace
to us and in us to the praise of the glory of His grace. forever
and ever. And the work of the Son is just
as necessary as the work of the Father. Verse 7, in whom we have
redemption. Very important word. When we
receive words in Scripture, we tend to isolate them. We like
to put things in small packages. And we think about redemption
as being just what Christ accomplished at Calvary. We think about salvation as being
what we experienced yesterday or twenty years ago whenever
God saved us. But in the Scriptures, it's not
that way. In the Scriptures, redemption
and salvation are terms used almost synonymously, and they
speak of the whole work of God's grace. the deliverance of our soul into
the glorious liberty of the sons of God. And yet, as it's used
here, the word redemption speaks specifically about the work of
Christ accomplished in the shedding of His blood at Calvary. Alright, Paul says, in whom we
have a present everlasting possession, redemption. The only way you can have redemption
before God is through His blood, through His sacrifice of Himself. I tend, in trying to preach the
gospel of God to grace, to speak of Christ's obedience in his
life as working out righteousness for us. But, strictly speaking,
that's not true. There was no righteousness for
us until he finished his work. Had he lived perfectly righteous
as our representative until this very day, it would amount to
nothing for us. His life is meaningless, insignificant,
as meaningless and insignificant as yours, unless he died as our
substitute. When he died and cried, It's
finished, having shed his blood for us, the Lord Jesus obtained eternal redemption for us. Have with His blood. Oh, bless
His name. With His blood. His death, finished,
satisfied, all the law all the demands of the law, for
righteousness and satisfaction for all his people, for all God's
elect, for all those given to him, all those of whom he said,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O my God. of whom he said, other sheep I have, them also
I must bring, of whom he said, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd given his life
for the sheep. What was the object of him in
redemption? Turn back just a few pages to
Galatians chapter 3. Why did Christ die for us? Now, obviously, many, many answers
to that could be given. But for our purposes this morning,
look at verse 13. Christ hath redeemed us from
the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. What a word. Christ redeemed us from the curse
of the law, being made a curse when he was made sin. Read on.
For it is written. Cursed is everyone that hangeth
on a tree. But don't stop reading there.
The sentence doesn't stop there. Look at the connecting word.
That. That tells us why he did it.
That tells us what his object was. That the blessing of Abraham
might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ. Now, what was the
blessing of Abraham? Oh, they get all that land over
there. Not hardly. Oh, they get to have
a palace and a kingdom. And the Jews are going to rule
over everybody again. and the Son of God is going to
come off his throne and set down a little peanut throne in Palestine.
Not hardly. But what is the blessing of Abraham? It's the blessing We read of in Ephesians 1, verse
4, represented in that covenant God made with Abraham back in
Genesis 15, when he said, Blessing, I will bless you, and I'll make
you a blessing. Well, how do you know that's
what it is? Read the next line. Paul, what
do you mean that the blessing of Abraham might come on us?
That. That. There's a connected word
again. We might receive. Now that word might doesn't mean
we might possibly receive. But the word means this. Christ died because there's no
other way we could receive. Read the illustration, 2 Corinthians
5, verse 21. God made him sin for us who knew
no sin. that we might, not that maybe
we might. But he made his son sin for us,
who knew no sin, because there's absolutely no other way whereby
you, could ever be made the righteousness
of God in him. Is that right? All right. Back to the Galatians. Christ
died under the curse of the law that the blessing of Abraham might come on us, the Gentiles. What do you mean? Because there's
no other way. We could receive the promise
of the Spirit through faith. God blessed us with all those
spiritual blessings in heaven and the places, in Christ before
the world began. And there's no other way you could get them
except God give them. And there's no other way God
could give them to sinners except through the blood of His Son.
And there's no other way we could receive the promise of the Spirit
except through the sacrifice of His Son. And there's no other way we could
lay hold of all by faith in Jesus Christ except the Spirit come
and give us faith. Now, this is what I want you
to see. I want so much for you to see. The purpose of God the Spirit
in all the words, the purpose of God the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit in all things is that Christ have preeminence. As I
mediate to ensure it, everything in this book points us to Him. but points us to Him as the one
mediator between God and man. It is never the intent of the
Spirit. It is never the intent of gospel
preaching to point to Christ the Mediator as if the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Triune God, did not exist or were insignificant. We worship Father, Son, and Spirit
through the knowledge and revelation of Jesus Christ, our Mediator,
our Savior. I want to know, does that make sense to you folks? Is that clear? and all three persons in the
Holy Trinity. The very reason why, you'll recall
I pointed out, sometimes election is spoken
of as being the work of the Father. It's sometimes spoken of as being
the work of the Son. And sometimes it's even spoken
of as being work of the Spirit. Sometimes redemption is spoken
of as being work of the Son. Usually it is, but sometimes
it's spoken of as work of the Father and work of the Spirit.
Sometimes the new birth, regeneration, It's spoken of as being the work
of the Father, the work of the Holy Spirit. And it normally
is. It's spoken of just that way. But often, it's spoken of as
being the work of the Son, and the work of the Father. We adore
God's glorious providence. Usually, it's spoken of as the
work of the Father. Then sometimes spoken of as work
of the Son, and sometimes work of the Spirit. How come? Because you can't do
without the Father, the Son, or the Spirit. And all three
persons of the Godhead are fully engaged fully engaged in all the work
of our salvation, to the praise of the glory of the grace of
the triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, all who
bear record in heaven. done, we are accepted into the
love. All right, now, I want to wrap
this up by looking at specifically the work of the Spirit as it
is experienced in the life of every believer. At the appointed time of love,
a time ordained before the world
began, the eternal God our Savior set a time when He would come
and reveal Himself to us and in us, in Jesus Christ the Lord. And the works of the spirits
are generally, if I can use such terms, categorized. And it's
alright to categorize them. We have puny brains. little bitty brains, when it
comes to understanding God. So God reveals things to us in
a sequential, orderly, logical way. But we must never imagine
that God's brains as bitty as ours. For you to know something, you
have to think. Don't you? Not God. He doesn't
think. Ever think about that? He didn't
think. He just knows. He knows. Because
he ordained. All things. And what? So in speaking of God's, the
work of God the Spirit in us, it is revealed in an orderly
fashion and must necessarily be understood by us. in the order in which it's revealed.
Now, here's the reason I stress that. Some people say, if you
believe, then you will have life. Oh, that means, you save yourself. The scripture
declares, if you believe, you already got it. How come? Because
you're dead, and trespasses in sin. to declare that your faith in
Jesus Christ is the reason, cause, or instrument by which you get
life, is to declare you never were dead. Which comes first, regeneration
of faith? Obviously. If you're dead in trespasses
and sins, regeneration. Well, how long? Watch this. Which came first? The pin or
the hole? Would you like to time that? Well, the pin made the hole.
But which came first? Let's try it again. Watch closely.
Which came first? The pin or the hole? Well, I
don't know. As far as time is concerned. But I know what made the whole. And I know what gave me life.
We are born of His Spirit. What is that to be born of the
Spirit? Does Paul call it a new man? Isn't it over here in Ephesians
chapter 4? Let's look. I think it's chapter 4, verse You may find it before I do.
Verse 24, that you put on the new man, which after God is created
in righteousness and true holiness, do what? Brother Jose, did he
say There's something in you that's
righteous and truly holy? Let's go to 1 John chapter 3.
Some of you men have been walking with God By faith, in the experience of
His grace, for a long time. Papa Gruber here, he's been a
believer almost as long as I've been alive. And yet, We have something in us that
we hate, don't we? It's called flesh. And in the
new birth, God doesn't change the flesh. He doesn't improve
it. He doesn't make the old man better. He puts a new man in us, a whole
new nature, so that you cannot do the things you would. The
flesh lusts against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh,
and you can't do what you want to. The flesh will never surrender. La carne nunca se va a rendir.
Never give up. Nunca se va a dar por vencido.
But the flesh will soon be put to death. Pero la carne prontamente
va a ser puesta a la muerte. When we drop this robe of flesh.
Cuando este manto de carne se ha dejado. Until then, in the
Song of Solomon, hasta que ese momento venga, como dice Daniel
Cantares, The Church of God describes herself, La Iglesia del Señor
Jesucristo se describe a sí misma, as having two armies in her heart. And that's your experience. The
things I hate, what I do. People sometimes say, well, when
you sin. Huh? Would you tell me when you don't? Well, don't you see? I'm talking
about big things. Me too. I'm talking about what
you are by nature. That's what we are. But what
happens when God saves a sinner? What happens in regeneration?
Do you remember what happened to Adam in the garden? When God
gathered the dust up? formed the body of a man, and
there's that man. Not yet. That's just well-formed
clay. And then God Almighty stooped
down from heaven and breathed into him the breath
of life, and man became a living soul. But when he sinned, Adam
died. His soul didn't die. His body didn't die. What happens in the new birth? What's the word for spirit in
Spanish? A spirit? You know what word
is used in the New Testament for spirit? It won't surprise
you. Wind. Breath. Isn't it something? And over and over in Old Testament?
It's illustrated just that way, isn't it? Ezekiel, can these
bones live? Or do you know? Prophesy to the dry bone. Okay.
Preach it to them. And he said, prophesy to the
wind. To the wind? Yeah, prophesy to
the wind. Come, come, O wind. And the wind comes. And the bones
rise up and live. What happens when God says a
certain thing? The wind bloweth Now hear the sound thereof, but
canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth. So is every
one that is born of the Spirit. God comes and puts life in the
dead, puts life in the dead, and that life is
called Christ in you. How does Paul describe it? Colossians
127. Christ in you. Christ in you, the hope of glory. You mean God, the Son, comes
and takes up residence in me? That's what He did. By His Spirit. By His Spirit. Christ in you. This is what the scriptures declare. Paul said, he said, It is no more I, but Christ that dwelleth in me. I am crucified with Christ. When Christ died, I died. Yet
I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life that I now live
in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me
and gave himself for me. I'm not the same man I used to
be, but I am the same man I used to be. The same wretch, the same God-hating,
sin-loving, vile wretch that was born 56 years ago. Nothing
has changed about this man, except he gets worse. But 40 years ago, something changed. And I ain't the same man I used
to be. Another man has taken up residence
in me. A man that loves God with all
his heart. A man that can not sin. called Christ in you, the hope
of glory. Now let's see if that's what
the book says. 1 John 3. 1 John 3. Verse 5.
You know He was manifested to take away
our sins. Well, did He do it or didn't
He? For in Him is no sin. He did what He came to do. Look
at verse six. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not. doesn't continue in the habit
of sin. It's really a proper reading
of that. Sin is not his way of life if he abides in him. Who's
to ever sin it? If this is your way of life,
hath not seen him, neither know him. Though children, let no man deceive
you. He that doeth righteousness is
righteous, even as he is righteous. He whose life is this way, righteous, is righteous. That makes pretty
good sense, doesn't it? It stands for a good reason. Whosoever is an apple tree bears apples. Whosoever is a
grapefruit tree produces apples and grapefruits. Let me know
if you ever see one like that. No, no. The grapefruit tree has
grapefruits. Own the grapefruits. The apple
tree doesn't have anything but apples. Just apples. You've got
two streams. flowing in from the ocean, just
a little short stream that's bitter salt water. One flowing
from the mountain down to the ocean. Sweet, good water. Fresh. You drink the one that's flowing
in from the inlet, You're going to die. Grab you a cup full of that coming
down the mountain. Drink all you want to. But you
will never find the two together. The same stream doesn't produce
both sweet water, good water, and bitter. All right, now let's
look here. John is talking to us. about that which is sin and that
which is righteous. And he's not talking to us about
two different people. He's talking about two different
natures in one person. Let's see. He that committeth
sin, verse eight, is of the devil, follows the devil. Came because the devil said. Came because the devil said.
You shall not surely die. And Adam followed his lie. And
we died in him. For the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of
God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Now,
look at verse 9. I want you all to look at it. First John 3, 9. Whosoever is born of God doth not. That's a bad translation. Your
Spanish Bible is a bad translation. I picked up old practice, that's
what it says. That is not the translation. Horrible translation. The text
says, does not. Read it in Greek, it says, does
not. Never. Look at it. Whosoever
is born of God does not commit sin. For his seed remaineth in
him. Now look at it. And he cannot
sin. That which is born of God doesn't walk. In the way of sin. And there's
a reason why it doesn't walk in the way of sin. It can't sin.
It can't sin. You mean that new man in you can't sin? Who did
Paul say he is? Who did he say he is? Christ
in you. Christ in you. Christ in you. To say that new
man sins is to say Christ sins. Well, John were you talking?
You talk as though Christ and all his people are exactly the
same. Ain't that good? Yeah. We're one with Him. One with
Him. In Ephesians chapter 5. Paul speaks about the union of
a man and his wife. And he says, for this cause,
shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall be
joined unto his wife, and they too shall be one flesh. Now,
let's wait a minute. Let's just wait a minute. I had breakfast this morning,
with this fellow right here, sitting right beside, a real
pretty little thing, back that high. I figured they'd win it.
But it's out. You're mad at her, aren't you?
This will surprise you. I can tell the difference in
him and her. Oh, you mean God's word is not
true? They're not one flesh. Paul said that ain't what I'm talking
about. I'm talking about Christ and His Church. Look at it. We're
bone of His bones. Flesh of His flesh. And the husband and the wife,
who kindly blend together, are just a picture of that. But this is the mystery. We're one with Christ, and Christ
is one with us. And in the new birth, He invades
the heart. invades the heart, giving us
life. How? Because he who is life has
moved in. Does that make sense? Moved in
by the breath of the Spirit. How do you know when Christ is
there? Have you all seen pictures of Jesus knocking at the hearth's
door. And they say, there he is. Did
you notice there's not a handle on the outside? Because you have
to let him in. If he waits for you to let him
in, you'll go to hell. How does he get in? He knocks the door down, bolt
and bark, and sets himself up in your heart. And when he does, he brings his
welcome with him. First time you know he's there,
you say, come Lord Jesus. Possess me. And that's the result of him
coming in. And we continually bid him come
in and possess us. Only if he has come in and possessed us. All right,
let me show you. John chapter three. John chapter
three. Verse 36. He that believeth on
the Son of God hath, does it say shall have or has? Has. Did you get it? He that believeth, believeth
because, Something happened in him. He has everlasting life. Paul said we're made partakers by the promises of God. No, Paul,
Peter said this, 2 Peter. Made partakers of the divine
nature. Do you mean? That we become God? No. No. What
does it mean then? The word for takers means possessors. Possessors. possessors of the divine nature,
because Christ has moved in. Look here. Christ is in here,
and I live in Him, because of His grace. When the Spirit of
God comes by His grace, creating faith in the center. He convinces the world, not everybody
in the world. You don't have a problem with
this, do you? He convinces God's elect, everywhere
in the world, of three things. And he didn't say he tries to
convince, he says he convinces him. Of sin? You're sin. There
came a day when he convinced Brother Cunningham here, he's
nothing but sin. Said, well, everybody knows they're
sinners, ask them. Well, I know I haven't done I'm not perfect. Nobody's perfect.
I've made a lot of mistakes in my life. That's all everybody
has. Nobody's perfect. That's what
I'm talking about. Came a time he convinced that
man. Nothing but sin about him. Convinced him. Mama couldn't
do it and daddy couldn't either. And the preacher couldn't do
it. He convinced him. And it convinced him of righteousness. Now the way that's presented
in most religious circles, papist and otherwise. As the Holy Spirit comes, and
it convinces you to start acting good, doing righteous. No. He
convinced you that righteousness is done. in a substitute. That's what
causes you to believe. And it convinced you of judgment. You see, when the Holy Spirit
comes, it gets folks scared to death, and they're terrified,
because they know judgment's coming. Every man in the world
was born convinced that Romans chapters 1 and 2. So I
don't believe in that stuff. He's a liar. He's convinced by nature
judgments come I ask you men, was there ever
a time in your life, from your smallest childhood, when you
weren't terrified of meeting God in judgment? No. We're born convinced of judgment,
and more convinced as we grow. What does he mean then? He'll
convince the world of judgment. Judgment finished for somebody.
He comes. and reveals Christ to us, but
as he reveals Christ to us, he reveals Christ in us, and looking
on the Son of God, knowing my sin, my corruption, Knowing that Christ has finished
righteousness because yonder he sits, trusting him, I am fully
convinced. Judgment is done. There is therefore
now no condemnation. to them that are in Christ Jesus. None now, none tomorrow, none
forever. How do you know that? Because the Spirit of God put
righteousness in me, put a righteous nature in me, without which no
man shall see the Lord. And that righteous nature is Jesus Christ,
the Son of God. Christ in you. We're made fit to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in life. Fit? That's what he
said, isn't it? Fit. Worthy. Den of glory. Of
which in Revelation 19 we're said? Anything that defiles or makes
a lie cannot enter the gates of that city. Well, how are you
going to get in? God Almighty put me in His Son
before the world began and made me righteous. Well, that's all
it needed. Oh, no. Oh, no. God the Son came into this world
and laid hold on the seed of Abraham, laid hold of God's elect,
and walked for thirty-three years, and at last made In complete obedience to his
father. And cried, it is finished. When he satisfied the justice
of God for me. And I was made righteous. I know
I was. Because he rose from the dead. But that's all it needed. No. The righteousness of Christ
imputed to you will not bring you to glory. Listen now. The
righteousness of Christ imputed to you will not bring you to glory. It makes the way for you to get
to glory. The righteousness of Christ imputed
to you guarantees one more necessary thing shall happen. Righteousness
is put in you. Christ in you. And when we go to glory, we're
going just like we are right now, except for one thing. We drop the sin. That's it. Oh, we grow and labor
and travail and weep Who shall deliver me from the
body of this death? That's a pretty good description
of this, isn't it? Death. Death, thank God, through our
Lord Jesus Christ. Soon deliverance, redemption,
shall be completed. God bless you. If you have any
questions at all, don't ask me questions. I'll be glad to answer
any I can.
