Good morning. Thank you. Let's review just a minute what
we talked about yesterday. I asked you all what this number
was, right? And it was one. Good. All right. You did good
in your math. And we did a whole lot of those
things, and they were all one. And then I held up three oranges,
didn't I? And y'all were smart, you said
there's three of those. And then I held this up, you
remember? And I said, how many is this? And almost everybody
said one. And then I showed you that this
was one the Father, one the Holy Spirit, and one the Son. And
that they were, Three in one. Y'all remember that? And we talked
a little about what it meant to be three in one. They're all
the same. They're all alike in their attributes,
which is a big word for they're all holy, they're all righteous,
they're all perfect. All the traits, all the things
that make God, God, they're all alike. But then I said today
we're going to talk about how they're different. We're going
to talk a little about each one. Now, God the Father, God the
Father, He is a father. Who here has a father? Okay. Go ahead adults, you can raise
your hand too. You have a father. Everybody has a father, don't
they? And God the son, he is a son. Now, all you boys in here,
you're the son of a father, just like you girls are the daughter
of a father. But God is a father, and like everything
about God, he's a perfect father. Now, all of you know that your
daddies aren't exactly perfect, right? That's okay. They try hard, but they're not
perfect. Just like we all know that none of us are perfect children,
right? We know that. But like everything
else about God, God the Father is a perfect Father. And God
the Son is a perfect Son. And don't ever question anything
this book says about God the Father. Whatever this book says
about God the Father, That's right and perfect because God
the Father says so. And whatever he says, it's right
and perfect. It doesn't matter whether we
like it or we approve of it or we even understand it. If the
Bible says it's so, then it is so. And all who are or would
be the children of God, they have to be perfect too. because
God is a perfect father and he's only going to have perfect children. The father, therefore, all his children must be perfect.
Now, that's a problem for you and me, isn't it? If we'd like
to be children of God, because we know we're not perfect. But
when Jesus Christ, the son of God, the father, When he was
very young, he was just 12 years old. Anybody in here 12 years
old? I know some of you are 12. Yeah, there's some of you. When
he was Ryan's age, okay, when he was Emma's age, his parents
took him to a town from where they were living all the way
to Jerusalem to observe the Feast of the Passover. And when they
left, They walked for several days. And it wasn't like we travel
today where we're all in a van and if one of the Vincents is
missing in the van, they notice real quick, you know. Where is
this one? But it was a caravan and they
walked several days. And then all of a sudden, it
occurred to them that their son whose name was Jesus to them,
he wasn't with them. And they searched everywhere,
and they turned around, and they went back to Jerusalem, and they looked,
and they looked, and they finally found him in the temple, in God's
temple. And of course, they were upset,
and they were like, don't you know we were upset because you
weren't with us? Now, you know what he said to them? He said,
if you read the scripture, I'm not going to have you look it
up, but you can look it up later. Trust me, it says, he said to
his father, little F, Like to his daddy Joseph, his earthly
father, he said to his father, little f, he said, don't you
know, I must be about my father's business? And that father's capital
F, you know why? It's God the father. And Jesus Christ is God the son. You see the relationship there?
He said, I must be about my father's business. Business is not the way we think
of it today, where buying and selling or doing, starting a
big building and doing things. No, this business means this.
He said, I gotta be about my father's business, which are
matters of vital, eternal importance. You see, God's son, Jesus Christ,
God the son, is doing his father's business. It's why he came to
the earth to do his father's business. Now, what is that business?
As simple as I know to tell it to you, it is that God the Father
determined. He determined something. Y'all
ever see somebody who's determined? They're like, maybe they're trying
to put a screw in with a screwdriver and they're determined to get
it done, right? God the Father is determined
about his business. He doesn't go, oh, I hope I can
get it in there. He doesn't go, well, I hope I
don't break the screwdriver. I hope I can't, it's just too
much. No, whatever God the Father, because he's almighty, he's all
powerful. Whatever he sets about, he's
gonna do it. When he determines to do it,
he doesn't hope he can do it, he doesn't worry about it, he
doesn't even plan, he just does it. He's determined to do it.
And you know what God's determined? what his business is. Number
one, he's going to glorify his son, God the Son, Jesus Christ.
He's going to glorify him. He's also determined he's going
to have a lot of children just like Jesus Christ. That's God's
business. And Jesus Christ, God the Son,
is about his father's business. God the Father put God the Son
in charge of that business. The father's not concerned about
God the son being willing to do it. He's not concerned about
it being able to accomplish the business. He sits on his eternal
throne waiting for the time when it will be revealed to everybody
when, how, where and for whom this business is finished, is
all done. Now, There's so much I could
say about God the Father. There's not enough time. Eternity
won't be long enough to tell you all there is about God the
Father. But what I just told you is enough
for you to know. It's enough for me to know right
now. If we can believe that, that's enough to understand about
God the Father. Now, let me go real quickly to
God the Holy Spirit. In John 4, we read, is Spirit, capital S. We're talking about God the Spirit.
And they that worship God must worship him in spirit and in
truth. And it's a lot easier probably
for all of us here to understand God the Father, because we have
a father, right? And it's easy to understand God
the Son. To some extent it's easier because
there are sons here. We all have a father, and many
fathers have sons. We have a little harder time
understanding this thing about spirit, don't we? And Hollywood
hadn't made it any easier. You know, they're creating all
kinds of spirits like, you know, ghosts and ghoulies and all these
crazy things. All right? Forget about all that.
That's got nothing to do with God the Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit, he's real. All that other stuff, somebody
made up. God the Holy Spirit is real, but he doesn't need
a body to accomplish his purpose. And again, that purpose is the
same as God the Father's, to glorify God the Son, Jesus Christ,
and to call out a people that will be God's perfect children.
And you say, ah, this is hard to understand. He doesn't have
a body and he does all these things. Well, let me see if I
can illustrate this for you, okay? Y'all know what this is,
right? You know what I can do with this?
Let's assume that I have Molly in my speed dial. You know what
I have to do? I just have to go call Molly. Hello, this is Molly. Whoa! How did that happen? You see
how we want to deny the Holy Spirit the very ability God's
given us to do things without our body. Don't be so foolish
as to think just because you can't see the body of the Holy
Spirit that God the Holy Spirit doesn't exist. He does exist.
If you ever meet him, you ever hear from him, he ever talks
to you, if you're on his speed dial, you'll get a call from
him one day. And when you do, recognize Him.
Remember, Mr. Bob told you, He's not going
to knock on your door, He's not going to come to visit you physically,
but He's going to speak to your heart and your mind, and you'll
know it's Him. You'll know it's Him. He makes
Himself known. And that's the purpose. Look at how He accomplishes
His purposes. Several things. Number one, God
the Holy Spirit calls all of God's children. He calls them.
God's children are called the elect of God. Second Peter said,
God's children are told, make your calling and your election,
sure. Hebrews 3 says that God's people
are partakers of the holy calling. Second Timothy says, God who
has saved us and called us with a holy calling. You know who
does that calling? God the Holy Spirit calls. He doesn't need one of these.
He doesn't need, he calls. He speaks from wherever he is
and remember God is everywhere. God's omnipresent. He's everywhere. He can just be right next to
you and call your name. And that's what he'll do if you're
one of God's children. The Holy Spirit also teaches
God's children. Everyone he calls, he teaches.
Isaiah 54 says, God's elect are all taught of God. Every one
of them. They're taught by whom? Well,
your parents, they want you to, how many of you think your parents
want you to know how to do math? Okay, your hands. You may not
want to learn it, but you know they want you to know it, right?
Okay, so what they do is they send you to the swimming pool
to swim. That's how you learn math, right? No, that's ridiculous,
no. What they do is they send you
to school where there's a teacher who knows math and the teacher
at least tries to teach you math. God the Holy Spirit has teachers. You know who they are? They are
those who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Todd is
one whom the Holy Spirit has called, has taught, and has given
him the gift to teach God's other children. Isn't that great? God's given us a teacher. Wow. The greatest gift God can give
a people is somebody who preaches the gospel, teaches us who God
is, who the Lord Jesus Christ is, all he's done. Now, the next
thing the Holy Spirit does is he convinces. He convinces. I used the illustration yesterday
that if little Macy came running in here and went, there's an
elephant outside and we all get to ride it. Everybody goes, yeah,
right. You're not convinced, are you?
Well, if Pastor Todd and Miss Pam and I all go, there is an
elephant out there. He's waiting for y'all to ride
him. You're beginning to believe,
aren't you? And then one day, you walk out there for yourself
and go, there is an elephant out here. Let me tell you what
believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is. When God the Holy Spirit
calls your name, sends you a teacher, and you hear, you'll believe.
You haven't seen him yet. You haven't seen the Lord Jesus
Christ physically. You don't have to. You believe
he's alive. You believe he's who he says
he is. You believe he's done what he says he's done, what
the book says he's done. You believe, that's what it is
to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit will
convince you. He says, I will, Ezekiel says,
I will put my spirit within you. I'll give you a new heart. I'll
give you ears to hear. I'll give you eyes to see. I'll give you a mind to understand.
I'll give you a heart to fall in love with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, I know some of you girls are getting old enough. Some of you guys too. You girls
see some guy and you think, man, he's handsome. I like him. You hear him talk and you go,
I like him a lot. And you know, maybe you'll fall
in love with that fellow. And you guys are the same with
some girl. Let me tell you what. If God the Holy Spirit ever comes
to you and speaks to you and teaches you concerning the Lord
Jesus Christ, you know what'll happen? He'll convince you to
fall in love with Him. And you will. You will. It'll
be the best day of your life. It surely will. And then what
does God the Holy Spirit teach? That's what we're gonna talk
about tomorrow. It's not a what He teaches, it's a who He teaches,
the Lord Jesus Christ. Okay, let's go to our classes.
