Matt. 11:25-30

The sermon "Rest Unto Your Souls" by Jason Messer addresses the theological concept of rest in Christ as presented in Matthew 11:25-30. Messer argues that true rest is found in understanding who Jesus is—the Son of God and the Messiah who fulfills the law and offers salvation, rather than in external religious rituals. Key Scripture references include Matthew 11:28-30, where Jesus invites all who are burdened to come to Him for rest, and Luke 10:21-22, which emphasizes the divine revelation of the gospel to the humble rather than the wise. By critiquing reliance on human works and traditions, he underscores the Reformed doctrine of salvation by grace through faith alone, pointing out that genuine understanding of Christ leads to the comfort of knowing one's sins are atoned for. The practical significance lies in the call for believers to find assurance and relief from guilt by resting in the completed work of Jesus.

If you would, for our message
today, turn with me to Matthew chapter 11. Matthew chapter 11. We'll start at verse 25. The title of the message is common
to me. But let's read through here It
says at that time in verse 25 at that time Jesus answered and
said I thank thee O father Lord of heaven and earth Because thou
hast hid these things from the wise and prudent and has revealed
them unto babes Even so, Father, for so it seems good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto
me of my Father. And no man knoweth the Son, but
the Father. Neither knoweth any man of the
Father save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal
him. Come unto me. all ye that labor
and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon
you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and
ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and
my burden is light. Now there in verse 28, come unto
me. The Lord here is speaking to
a multitude of people. He's got many disciples here. And he says, not all these people
were believers. Some still are unsure who he
is. Many people were constantly asking
him, are you the Christ? They weren't sure. They didn't
know. But here he is saying, come unto me. If you were there
and you didn't know him, and somebody stands up, even him,
and says, come unto me, the first question I'm going to ask is,
well, who are you? Who are you? And here he is saying, come unto
me. And all their lives, they've
been hearing the priests talk about the Messiah, but yet they
didn't know. He came unto his own, and his
own knew him not, right? It's very important for us, as
we read our scripture reading, We've got to know who he is. False religion worships this
little baby Jesus that can't do anything. That's not him. He's telling you, he's the son
of God that was predicted, that was prophesied that he would
come into this world and save his people from their sins by
taking their punishment on the cross shedding his blood, and
providing our atonement for our sins. That's who he is, and he's
not just Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph and Mary. That's
what these people thought. They knew his parents, some of
them did. How could this be God's Christ? They said, come unto
me. Come unto me, and I'll give you
rest. Now back up here to verse 25,
it says, at that time, turn with me real quick to Luke chapter
10. Luke chapter 10, let's get through some of these verses
here. Look at verse one. After these things, the Lord
appointed other 70 also and sent them two and two for his face
into every city and place, whether he would sin, whether he himself
would come. Now the next 15 verses explains
how these are disciples, 70 disciples. He sent them out just like all
the disciples. Preach repentance. Preach baptisms. Heal the sick, cast out devils.
Look down here at verse 17. Verse 17 says, and the 70, the
70 disciples, returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even
the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said
unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold,
I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over
all the powder of the earth, and nothing shall hurt you. These
people come back, give him a report, and said nothing about the salvation
of any soul. They were more impressed. They
were happy. And they were rejoicing in the
fact that the devil And he says to him in verse 20,
notwithstanding, in this rejoice not that the spirits are subject
unto you, but rather rejoice because your names are written
in heaven. Don't rejoice in the fact that
God gave you some power. Verse 21, in that hour, Jesus
rejoiced in the Spirit and said, now here's where Luke and Matthew
are coming together. I thank thee, O Father, Lord
of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the
wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes, even so, Father,
for so it seemed good in thy sight. Now go back to Matthew
chapter 11. Matthew chapter 11, verse 25. Now we know at that time is when
70 returned. Jesus answered and said, now
nobody, I want to point this out here, this answer, nobody
asked him a question. If you look up in the concordance
of the word answer, this is a Hebrew way of talking. is when one is
expected to say something. And that's why they use answer. We would say, he spoke and said.
They said, he answered and said. Don't be confused by that. But
he says, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth. Is
there any doubt who he's talking about? God, the creator of all
things that is in heaven, the creator of the heavens and the
earth, Hell, all the angels, and every man, woman, everything
we see in this world, God created it, not man. There's no man that
can save you. It's his creation, and we are
the creation. We're to worship him. We're to
follow him. By birth, we have no idea who
he is. When Adam sinned, he died spiritually. God is a spirit. We are dead. We come into this world spiritually
dead. We have no understanding of who
he is, what he's done. He said, I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of heaven and earth. Why? Because thou hast hid these
things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babe.
What things did he hide? Turn with me to 1 Corinthians
chapter 1. 1 Corinthians chapter 1, verses
8 18, 18 through 29. He's hid the gospel
from these people. Now verse 18 says, for the preaching
of the cross, and that is the gospel of Christ. Paul says when
we preach Christ, we crucify Him. That's the gospel. For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness.
But unto us which are saved, it is the power of God. For it
is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will
bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the
wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this
world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For
after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew
not God. It pleased God by the foolishness
of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require
a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom. But we preach Christ
crucified unto the Jews a stumbling block, unto the Greeks foolishness,
but unto them which are called both Jews and Greeks, decrites
the power of God and the wisdom of God, because the foolishness
of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger
than men, not that he has any foolishness or weakness in him.
For you see, your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after
the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God
hath chosen the foolish things of the And God hath chosen the weak
things of the world to confound the things which are mighty,
and the base things of the world, and the things which are despised
hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not to bring to naught
the things that are, by the no-flesh glory in his presence. But of
him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God has made into us wisdom,
righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, that according
as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Back
in our text, Matthew 11, he that glorieth, let him glory in the
Lord. This is a problem for those who are wise and prudent. They
glory in their own selves. They love works, religion, because
they get something out of it. They get their pride is puffed
up. And that's what they like. That's
what they're wanting out of the works. Out of the works. They
hate the gospel. That's what those things are
that he hid. He hid the gospel teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ
from these people. Christ crucified. That's offensive
to very many people. Many, many people find that very
offensive. But he hid it for the wise and
the prudent. Prudent means mentally put together. mentally
put together. There are a lot of people in
this world who think they've got it all figured out. We see
it in false religion. And they're really overbearing
to everybody around them. Very overbearing to everyone
around them. Let me read this to you from Isaiah. Isaiah, you don't have to turn
there, but it's Isaiah 5.21. says, woe unto them that are
wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight. Woe unto
them. Destruction. Destruction to them. Back in our text, Matthew 11,
he's hid these things. He hid the gospel, not because
they're wise and prudent. He did it because it pleased
him to do so. There are many wise and prudent
children of God. Solomon was the wisest. He didn't
hide his gospel from him. He revealed it to him. So it
doesn't just depend on whether or not you're wise or not. This
all depends on God's good pleasure. It pleases Him to reveal it to
who He will. Who did He reveal it to? A peculiar
bunch of people. He calls them babes. here in
our text, we reveal the gospel testimonies of our Lord Jesus
Christ to babes. Babies are children. They know they're less than the
wise people in the world. They're willing to learn. They're
willing to accept. You tell them, well, you're wrong. This is how it is. The older
they get, the more they get set in their ways, and it's hard
to convince people that are wise in their own mind that there
is a God, period. But he reveals this unto a certain
group of people and says in verse 26, Even so, Father, for so it
seemed good in my sight. Why does God do this? Why doesn't
he just accept these people's hard work? Why doesn't he accept
that for salvation? It seemed good in his sight to
do it the way he chose to do it. He's the creator. We're the
creation. We don't get to choose. He's
God. Wouldn't you rather have him
choose for you? You ever choose anything and
afterwards you realize, well, that was a dumb choice. I don't
know that I've ever chosen anything right, except for marrying that
woman right there. What a blessing that was. God
brought her to me. I needed to say that, didn't
I? But in verse 27, the Lord says,
all things are delivered unto me of my father. He's telling
us who he is. He's telling us who his father
is. That's a very important question. What things are delivered unto
him? I didn't know he got that because
of who he is from the beginning. He's equal with God. That was
all his from the beginning. What was delivered unto him was
all the people that he delivered unto him to save. You see, after
that word father, there's a colon. Now that colon in English grammar
means what's coming after that is one of a couple things. what he's talking about, or is
he just going to give you an example of what he means? All
things were delivered unto me and my father. What's that mean,
Colin? And no man knoweth the son, but the father. Neither
knoweth any man the father, save the son, and he to whomsoever
the son will reveal him. What he's saying is, all things
that were delivered, then he goes in and tells us how God's
here, we're here, we have no idea who he is. But the Lord
was appointed by God to reveal who God is to us as a mediator. That's what he's talking about.
What was delivered to him as a mediator. He's the one that
stands as our substitute and our representative between man
and God. The Old Testament, the high priest
would go into the holiest of holies once a year and make sacrifices. That's where he would meet with
God. When the Lord Jesus Christ died, the veil between the holiest
of holies and the other part of the tabernacle was ripped.
It was four and two. Done. There's no need for that. We have an advocate. We have
a representative, a substitute, a mediator, and his name is Jesus
of Nazareth, our Lord. Lord Jesus Christ, the Christ,
God's Christ, Messiah. This is the one spoken of in
John 3, 16. For God so loved the world that
he sent his only begotten son. This is him. Yell it from the top of the mountains.
Jesus of Nazareth is the one. He's the Messiah. We need to
know who he is. Get it in our heads. There may
be some here, I know, I know I'm preaching to the choir, but
there may be some here who still don't know, who still don't believe. It's very important to know who
he is. There's a difference between
the Lord Jesus Christ and the baby Jesus in the imagination
of many. That's all he is, the little
baby Jesus. Now, These first three verses
tells us who he is. And that's, again, what we need
to know. Now, he says, come unto me. We know who that me is now. This
ain't just somebody that's out there claiming to be the son
of God. This is the son of God. And he says, come unto me, all
ye that labor. all ye that labor, and are heavy
burdened, and are heavy laden, and I'll give you rest. Now this
rest he's talking about, this rest, in the strongest concordance,
is to repose. Figuratively, it means to be
exempt. It means to stop the physical work that you're doing.
In the next verse, it talks about rest unto your soul, and that
rest is a little different. It's talking about an intermission,
by implication, recreation. You see, there's a word, the
first rest is stop what you're doing. The other one means rest
in Christ, rest unto our souls. If you look to Him, there's no
work to do. He's already done it. Let's get
into this a little bit. Come unto me, all ye that labor
and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Many, many people
in the Old Testament were under the works of the law. They made
their sacrifices to the priests. They kept the Sabbath. They kept
the festivals, the Passover. These were works. They had to
get up and do something. And today, false religion still
thinks they're under that. They're looking for their own
righteousness through the law. But the word of God is plain.
It says Christ is the end of the law of righteousness. It's
the end of belief. So he says, come to me all you
that labor and are heavy laden. Now, I'm talking to a bunch of
people who are, I'm assuming, are God's sheep. We're not under
the law. We know we're not under the law.
The law wasn't given for us to do. It was given for us to show
us what we're doing wrong. The law isn't there for us to
keep. He says, coming to me all ye
that labor and are heavy laden. So where is one of God's children
that has been enlightened by our Lord? Who does believe? We're not under words, are we?
This message doesn't sound like it's for us. Maybe it's for someone
who still doesn't know. This is exactly for God's children. We have guilt. The guilt of our
own sins. I do not want to do these things,
but yet here they are. Paul says, things I want to do,
I can't. The things I don't want to do,
that's all I seem to do. What is the difference? Sins
in me. Sin. We have the guilt of sin. That's a heavy blame. That's
a burden, isn't it? We also look at God's holy law.
Well, how perfect is it? It says, thou shalt not kill.
I don't think anyone here has ever killed anyone physically.
But when God says, if you hate your brother, that's the same
as murder. I can't do that. I've got two
brothers. And I was sitting there a little
bit ago thinking, how many times have this fist hit one of them
in their head? We used to fight like brothers
when I was a kid. That's hate. That's murder. In God's eyes, we're to love
one another like He loved us. I can't keep His law. That is
a heavy burden on me. And then, look at man's traditions. Look at the works they try to
put on us. Here's where I feel like I'm
not under that. I'm under that guilt. I know
I can't keep his law. I don't have to worry about men's
traditions. I'm going to stand up like Peter said to Christ.
He's going to stand up for me, right? He said, before the cock
crows three times. What about Christmas? What about
Christmas for God's children? There's no salvation in the birth
of Christ. The teachings of Christ Christ
crucified. His death is what saved us, not
his birth. Christmas, every December, or
Black Friday, let's say the day after Thanksgiving. That's when
it really kicks in, all right? Here we all are, going around,
doing these pagan Catholic rituals. Everybody here got a Christmas
tree in their house, I assume. I have, everybody here has. with man's traditions, even though
we don't believe it. But here's the problem. If I
try to fight it, if I try to stand up for what's right, I'm
going to get ridiculed to death. If I say something to someone
else, you're wrong to do that. There's no salvation in what
you're doing. I'm going to get ridiculed to
death. So here I am to this guilt. Lord, I know what I'm doing. And what does he say? Comin'
to me, you go to him and tell him, Lord, I don't know what
to do. I'm at a rockin' hard place with
man's tradition. But the Lord was also faced with
man's tradition. Remember when the Sardis and
Pharisees came to him and said, your disciples don't wash their
hands before they eat. They've transgressed the tradition
of the elders. How dare you? The Lord says, you're worried
about these men's rules. That's not ruling. He said that
what they did was they took, how in the tabernacle, the priests
were to wash the plates, the cups, the things that pertain
to the service of God. They were to wash them, clean
them, sanctify them, set them apart for the service of God. Well, if I wash myself, then
I must be holy. That's why they do these things.
That's why they wear certain clothes. You know, false religion
tells some people how to look, how to dress, what to eat, what
they can drink, what they can't drink, what they can say. Those
are men's traditions, and yet here we are under men's traditions.
For instance, the Lord tells us They're complaining that they
didn't wash their hands, and they transgressed the men's tradition.
The Lord says to them, they take the Word of God, they take away
from you, add to it what they want. He pointed out to them
how the law says you're to honor your father and mother. But these
people claim Corinth is what they call it. And I'll try to
explain this to you. Once before, I think I did. If
my dad, under the Old Testament law, if my dad came to me and
said, Jason, I need money to pay my electric bill. If I've
got that money, I'm to give it to him. That's honoring your
father and mother. Here's where the Pharisees come
along and they make an amendment to God's Word. They're not allowed
to do that, but they do. They say that, well, if you tell
your dad, yes, I've got the money, but I've already set that aside
for the church, and you don't give it to him, but you do give
it to the church, then you won't have to die. That's not the Word
of God. That is not what He said. Men
do not have the right, the power, or the authority to change God's
Word. But yet, go to a false religion
church and that's all you're going to hear. Their own man-made
rules. They take the Word of God and
they twist it to fit themselves to make themselves feel more
righteous. They love to put on people, works,
but yet they themselves don't seem to get involved in the work.
They get some kind of glory out of being up at the top, looking
down at the peons and telling them to do things. I'm going
to read this. Turn with me. Turn over to Matthew
23. Matthew 23. Here's our Lord speaking again.
I love it when the ink in the Bible is red. Then nobody can
say, well, that's Paul's opinion. That's Matthew. No, this is the
word of the Lord being recorded. Listen to what he says. Then
spake Jesus to the multitude and to his disciples. Saying,
the scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses's seat. All therefore
whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do. But do not
ye after their works, for they say and do not. For they bind
heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's
shoulders. They themselves will not move
them with one of their fingers. But all their works, here it
is right here, it's what I've been saying, all their works
they do for to be seen of men. They may broad their phylacteries
and enlarge the borders of their garment. They used to write scripture
and wear it on their clothes. When they walked down the street,
Everybody knew who they were. You ever see a nun walking down
the road in her habit? There's someone who's trying
to let everybody know how old they are. That's the same thing
these Pharisees were doing. They loved the uppermost runes
of the feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and
greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, rabbi, rabbi,
or master. Be ye not called rabbi, for one
is your master, even Christ, and all ye are brethren. And
the Catholics need to pay attention to this next one. Verse nine,
call no man your father upon the earth. for one is your father,
which is in heaven. How do you skip over that? You
choose not to see that, don't you? They chose not to see, and
God's gonna blind their eyes so that they can't see. God doing
his pleasure. Back in our text in Matthew 11.
So then, Verse 29, take my yoke upon you
and learn of me. Take my yoke upon you and learn
of me. This is talking about two animals,
horses, oxen, whatever it may be, that are yoked together and
they have a plowman behind them. and they're plowing the field.
They yoke these two animals together. We go outdoors to Jackson all
the time. There's a lot of Amish out there and I can't help but
look at these beautiful farms that they have and every now
and then you'll see them out there, a team of horses, yoked
together, plowing their fields. And I've always been told that
one of the horses is going to be the leader and the other one
will follow. There could be more than two,
but the one is leading. He tells us to take his yoke
upon us and learn of him. To be yoked together with him. Learn. He's revealed the gospel
to the babes. Now learn what he's saying. What he's saying is, I have finished
the work. A yoke is a commandment. That's
what he's referring to. It's a commandment. There's nothing
for us to do but to be saved. The Lord Jesus Christ has already
completed the work. When he hung on the cross and
said it's finished, he meant that. works, all these heavy burdens
that false religion puts on us, all these things that God's children
are still dealing with in this world are on us. Come unto me
and you'll find rest unto your souls. Put my yoke upon you and
learn of me. Learn the gospel. It's all about
him. It's all about his death. What
do you learn? The wages of sin is death. Everyone here is a sinner, right?
I know you are. We deserve to be punished for
our sins, and that punishment is death. There's one who's already died
for your sins. He already took the punishment. on the cross 2,000 years ago,
your sins were punished. You have guilt. I know we all
do. How can you, this I should hope
with our guilt, how can we look at the crucified Christ and say,
all of my sins, past, present, and future, have been laid on
that man. I'm free. God's not gonna lay
anything else to my charge. All of my sins are paid by this
one man. The Christ, God's Christ, inside
our Lord. Lord, Jesus Christ. If you have no sin, we shouldn't
have any guilt, should we? I know what we are. We know what
we are. We know what we do and think. Honestly, if you're going to
be truthful with yourself, your sins are paid. They've already
been covered. That does not give us the right
to sin freely and willfully. How could you do something and
think of the Lord laying on that cross? You're going to do it
on purpose. And yet we do. Sometimes we don't have a choice.
We make these choices to do good. Sometimes you've got two choices
that are both bad. But both times, you're just like, I don't know
what to do. Just like with Christmas. It bothers me every year. I don't
know why. It just, it really bothers me.
But yet, I can't do anything about it. Except, come to me. Without the good Christ. Lay
that guilt on Him. He's already paid for that. He's
already paid for that. Take the guilt off. You want
my rest? Go to him. Rest for your soul. Rest for the guilt, the heavy
burden that we're under. Go to him. Why? Take my yoke upon you, learn
of me. Now, then he says, for I'm meek
and lowly in heart. I'm meek and lowly. Humble. The Lord has humility. When he came down here, his first
visit to the earth was in humility. He condescended to come down
here. He came off his throne. He came
out of glory, present with his father. He's
always been his presence, I understand. But he left that to come down
here. Come on, Flash. to be with all
these sinners, the ones he loved, the ones he came to save. He
condescended himself. He humiliated, it became a humiliation. He'd become a humble servant. Now, if you take these two horses
that are yoked together, and I said one of them, one of them
already knows, and then they might put another horse with
it to learn, right? That first quarter, that new
one, he ain't gonna like that. He ain't gonna like that, yo.
He don't want to be controlled. But the other one has already
learned to submit to the master. The guy that's back there on
their hands. The one that's in control, he
submits. That's our Lord. He submitted
to his Father's will. We could not do that. Adam didn't
do it. We can't do it. He did. The things
you can't do, take them to him. He's done it. I guarantee whatever
it is you are faced with in this life, you can find somewhere
that the Lord Jesus Christ has already dealt with that issue
himself. He's the firstborn among many
brothers. Firstborn because he's experienced
these things for us. He made it. He completed all
the work. He died. There's no more death
for us if you're in him. He died. He took death. Where's the sin, the very sin? Gone. When you die, when you
close your eyes for the last time, when your heart stops beating,
you're gonna open them eyes and you're gonna see him. You're
gonna be in his presence. Death is not limbo. you're going
to die, and then there's going to be this time where you're
waiting. And hopefully somebody prays
you out of them. But those are all lies, of course. But it's not death. We're not
going to suffer the death that's in hell. When you die, you're
going to be in the presence of our Lord. And that's our whole
desire, isn't it? Don't you want to be with him?
Aren't you tired of him? sick of seeing your own, everybody
else's. Can't even watch TV without getting
my stomach turned. It's just frightening my face.
I got enough of my own. I don't need to see everybody
else's. He says, I'm Megan Lowley. Come
under me. I'll give you rest from the physical
work that you've done. I'll give you rest from the heavy
burden that's on your soul. And then he ends it up with saying,
verse 30, my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Now, once
again, he says, my yoke, those are commandments. The commandment that I want to
point to here is baptism. But he says, believe that's the
commandment. Be baptized. Keep the Lord's table. He's telling us who he is. He starts off here telling us
who he is. He tells us to come to him for rest. Do you believe
who he is? Do you believe what he's done? God so loved the world, he says,
his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish,
but have everlasting life. And now you know who he is. He's
telling you to come, go to him. Have you went to him? Lord, I
believe. Lord, I'm a sinner. I cast all that on you. You did
keep the law. You did pay for my sins. I believe
that. And he says, for my yoke is easy. There's not a lot of commandments
like the Old Testament Jews had. Be baptized. Do you believe? What are you waiting on? Have you not been baptized? Do
you believe? It's a commandment from our Lord.
Be baptized. That yoke is easy. That burden
is light. The burden, there's no guilt.
He's done it all. Now, I try my best to explain things
while I'm up here. I know I'm a human being. And
I love to have the Lord explain things. Turn with me to John
17. Hold on a second. We read that in our scripture
reading, didn't we? Turn with me to Hebrews chapter 4. Hebrews chapter 4. We'll read a whole chapter. This will be our closing. These
words say it better than I could. Hebrews chapter 4 verse 1. Let us therefore fear, lest the
promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached. Remember that? He said, He hid
certain things from the lives of the people. This is what he's
talking about. It was preached to them. For unto us was the
gospel preached, as well as unto them. But the word preached did
not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard
it. They didn't have faith. Faith is a gift to God. For we
which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, as I have
sworn in my wrath, that they shall enter into my rest. Although
the works were finished from the foundation of the world,
for he spake in a certain place on the seventh day on this wise,
and God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in
this place again, if they shall enter into my rest, if, seeing
therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they
to whom it was first preached enter not because of unbelief,
Again, he limited a certain day, saying to David, today, after
so long a time, as it is said, today, if you will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts, take rest in his word. For if Jesus
had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken
of another day. There remained, therefore, a
rest to the people of God. For he that has entered into
his rest, Christ's rest, Christ our Sabbath, he also has ceased
from his own words, as God did from his. Let us labor, let us
labor, therefore, to enter into that rest. Lest any man fall
after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick,
and is life-giving, powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and
of the joints of marrow, and as a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart. Dear naked front hand, he knows
everything. Neither is there any creature
that is not made known in his sight, but all things are naked
and open unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." You
see that? It's important to know who he
is. Would you rather be in him or
out of him? If you're out of him, you're
just a goat on judgment day. Verse 14, seeing then that we
have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus,
the Son of God, let us hold fast to our profession, for we have
not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings
of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted, like as we
are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace, Why, that we may attain mercy and
find grace to help in a time of need. Do you know who he is now? I
hope so. I hope your eyes were open. and
lets us see who he is. Salvation is not on us. He's
already completed it. That works for me. Rest in that. Rest in the fact that our Lord
Jesus Christ is God. He's a son of God. He saved his
people from their sins. Salvation does the Lord. Rest
in that. Those are gospel teachings. Christ
crucified. Rest in that. Pray this has been a blessing.
David, would you pray?
