Deuteronomy chapter 2. It's on
page 216 in the Pew Bible, if you have one of those. If you
don't, you'll have to find it. In chapter 1, that you and I
just finished, Israel, the nation of Israel, because of their unbelief,
they had missed the opportunity to enter the land of Canaan.
There in the last two verses of chapter 1, we left them weeping
before the Lord. And what a sad, sad situation. And I made the statement last
week, one of the saddest incidents in their lifetime, at least this
generation. And we left them there weeping
before the Lord, and then they go back into the wilderness for
some 38 years or better. They wander here in the wilderness.
We are told that in chapter 2 and look in verse 14 and 15. And the space in which we came
from Kadish Barnea, remember that is where they were when
they refused to go into the land. Until we were come over the brook
Zerid was thirty and eight years until all the generation of the
men of war were wasted out from among the host. as the Lord swore
unto them. For indeed the hand of the Lord
was against them to destroy them from among the host until they
were consumed." Now you see there that Moses is speaking of another
generation, the first generation. They had all died out now. Almost all of them were gone.
Moses was left and of course Joshua and Caleb was left. And
Deuteronomy, for the most part, is speaking to the second generation. This is the children of those
who refused to go into the land of Canaan. The first generation was a faithless
bunch of people, for the most part. They just didn't believe
the Lord. They were always murmuring, always
complaining. They were unteachable. They were
stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears. But this second
generation, this generation that Moses is preaching to now and
teaching to now, they were for the most part a faithful and
obedient generation of people. And I think that's why Moses
wanted, another reason why he wanted to go into the land of
Canaan, because he knew this generation was different from
their fathers and their mothers. Boy, they were enthusiastic,
they were ready for a fight, When the Lord told them to go,
they went. And that's why Moses wanted to
go in. He loved this younger generation,
and he wanted to see what they were going to do when the Lord
brought them into the land of Egypt. And Moses, for the most
part now, is teaching this second generation. Almost everything
that's written in the book of Deuteronomy is written to the
second generation. He's teaching them about how
the Lord has brought them through the wilderness for 40 years,
and what He's going to do when He brings them into the land
of promise. And they're very teachable. They believe what
Moses tells them as opposed to their father. And He's going
to teach them some Bible lessons here in chapter 2, and He's going
to teach us some lessons as well. And the first lesson that I want
us to look at is found in here in verses 4 through verse 6.
There are several places here in this second chapter I want
us to look at. The first lesson that Moses is
going to teach this generation is this is their Father's world. This world, the earth, and everything
in it belongs to their covenant God. And He gives it to whomsoever
He is pleased to give it to. Now this is very important for
them to learn, this lesson, and you and me as well. Let me give
you some examples here by reading them to you. Look in verses 4
through verse 6. And command thou the people,
saying, You are to pass through the coast of your brethren, the
children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraid
of you, take you good heed unto yourselves therefore, meddle
not with them, for I will not give you of their land, no, not
so much as a footbread, because I have given Mount Seir unto
Esau for a possession. You shall buy meat of them for
money that you may eat, and you shall buy water of them for money
that you may drink. Now you remember You remember
when Isaac had Jacob and Esau and they finally separated? And
the Lord gave Mount Seir, this whole mountain range, to Esau
and his descendants. And now He tells the children
of Israel, don't you meddle with them. Don't you try to make war
with them and take their land. I've given the land to them.
And then He goes on here in verse 9 and gives us another example. In verse 9, look at verse 9,
ìAnd the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend
with them in battle, for I will not give you of their land for
a possession, because I have given her unto the children of
Lot for a possession.î Now you remember when Lot had those children
by his daughter. One of themís name was Moab.
And the Lord gave to Moab this land, the descendants of Moab,
to this land. So he says, don't meddle with
them. Don't distress them. I've given them this land. And
then Lot's other son, here in verse 19, he says the same thing
about them. Look in verse 19. And when thou
comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, Distress them
not, nor meddle with them, for I will not give you of the land
of the children of Ammon any possession, because I have given
it unto the children of Lot for a possession." So there was Lot's
other child and his descendants, Ammon. The Lord said don't distress
them. Don't meddle with them. I've
given the land to them. And here in verse 30 and 31 we
have another example. But Sihon, the king of Heshbon,
would not let us pass by him, for the Lord had hardened his
spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him unto
thy hand as a peer at this day. And the Lord said unto me, Behold,
I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee, begin to
possess that thou may inherit his land." So here we have four
examples that tells us these four different nations, the Lord
gave them this land to inherit. And also He was going to take
the children of Israel into the land of Canaan and give them
that whole land of milk and honey. Now what do we see and what do
we understand from this? What Psalmist David said, The
earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of our own. The world
and they that dwell therein. The Lord owns this world. It's His. And He gives it to
whomsoever He pleases. Now, you remember when Satan
came to the Lord to tempt Him. And remember one of the temptations
was, if you'll fall down and worship me, I'll give you all
the kingdoms of this world. Remember that? I'll give you
all the glory of them. He said that's delivered unto
me, and I give it to whosoever I will. Now, I doubt that's true,
don't you? He may, by God's permission,
rule the kingdom of darkness under God at His permission.
But we never read anywhere where the Lord has relinquished the
deed to this world. And to this earth are allowed
Satan to own or possess or to give anything to anybody. The earth is the Lord's and the
fullness thereof. The world and everything that's
in it belongs to Him. It's not Satan's to give. He
doesn't have the deed to anything. I want you to look at a couple
of scriptures pertaining to this. Hold your autonomy to chapter
2. We're coming by here. And look back here. Look in Daniel
chapter 4. Daniel chapter 4. If you go to
Ezekiel, you find Ezekiel. And Daniel is the next book to
your right. You remember Nebuchadnezzar,
this great king of Babylon. He got lifted up in pride. Remember
that? He said, look at this great kingdom
that I've made myself. And the Lord smote him and sent
him out to live in the pastures like a beast. He ate grass and
his fingernails grew out and his hair grew out. The Lord was
going to teach him a lesson. And look here what the lesson
He was going to teach him in verse 17. Daniel chapter 4 and
verse 17. This is Daniel's interpretation.
And this matter is by the decree of the watchers. and the demand
by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living
may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and giveth
it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basis
of men." And then he says almost the same thing in verse 24. Look
at this. This is the interpretation, O
King, Daniel said. This is the decree of the Most
High which is come upon my Lord the King, that they shall drive
thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beast of the
field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as an oxen, and
they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times
shall pass over thee till thou know that the Most High rules
in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will." Now,
it sounds like that Satan has no authority to give anything
but trouble and oppression. He don't own any land. He don't
rule any nations. Under God, as God allows him,
but he has nothing to give. The earth is the Lord, and the
fullness thereof. He sets over the nations whom
he will, and he gives the property to whomever he's pleased to give
it to. Look in one more place, back
to your left, in Jeremiah chapter 27. And look in verse 5. This is a very interesting context.
You can read it sometime. The Lord didn't permit Israel
to invade Moab or Eden or Ammon. But if you want to read the context
of this, now Ammon and Moab and Edom was giving them all kinds
of trouble. But look here what the Lord reminded them of in
verse 5. Jeremiah chapter 27 verse 5.
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the
ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and I
have given it unto whom it seemeth good. proper meat unto me. I've given it to whomever I please,
whomever I decide to give it unto. So the Lord gives portions
of lands to people and then sometimes He takes it away. He gives it
and then He takes it away and gives it to somebody else. All
four of these countries that I read to you about in Deuteronomy
chapter 2. All four of these countries, their lands were possessed
by somebody else. Before Esau's descendants dwelt
in Mount Seir, another nation dwelt there. And it was so with
the children of Lot before they possessed their property, their
lands. Other people dwelt there. Sihon, the king of the Amorites,
and Og, the other king of the Amorites, they possessed their
land before the Lord gave it to the children of Israel. But
he took it from them and gave it to somebody else. Why did
he do that? He has his own reasons. Sometimes
it's because of the sin of those people, and other times it's
just because he's pleased to do it. It's his. And he says,
Shall I not do with my own as I will? You and I have experienced
this in this country, if we know anything about the history of
this country. It's been, what, how many, 250
years ago now or so, 1776 or so, when mainly Europeans came
here to the States and set up their colonies. And what did
they do? Now let's be honest about it.
We're not politically correct here, are we? So we can be honest.
They drove out the Mexicans. In the Southwest and in the extreme
West, in California, New Mexico, that was occupied by Mexicans.
They took it and drove them out. They put the rule of the Indians
down. And they set up their colonies
and now we have this great nation. And it's evident that God gave
this country to the people that settled it, that we call the
United States of America. That's evident, isn't it? Now,
will there be some people that have to give account for broken
treaties and lies and murders? No doubt they will. But that
doesn't change the fact that the Lord took the land from the
Indians and the Mexicans and gave it to another people, does
it? It's a fact because that's what happened. That's history.
That's our history. I guess some nations, some rulers,
they don't They probably don't pay enough attention to the earth
being the Lord's and everything and everybody in it. I think
probably, this has happened in the past, and I think it was
so with our rulers when we set up this country. They were very
careful about not invading other countries. And I think one of
the things that was in our forefathers' thoughts was, what business have
we got to try to take somebody else's land? They were very careful
about doing that. There was a time when Great Britain,
it was said of Great Britain, the sun never sets on the British
Empire. That's how huge their empire
was. But Spurgeon said they got that
empire by covetousness and by desire to rule over other people. Well, I don't know but what it
came back to backfire on them because now Great Britain is
a Little Britain now. And a lot of their lands that
they took over the years has now been taken from them. So
I would say even the nations could learn a lesson from this.
Be careful about meddling with something that God has given
somebody else. I remember when Great Britain
went into Afghanistan. and tried to take that country
and Afghanistan whipped them. Russia was in there for years
and they whipped them. And now look how long we've been
in there. And we're getting ready to pull out and they'll keep
their land and go right back to where they were before. So
sometimes it's good to remember this is not our world. We best
be careful, hadn't we? The nations best be careful how
they treat other nations. Meddle not with them. I've given
this to them. Don't distress them. I've given
this man to them. But I think also there's a spiritual
lesson here for you and I to learn as well. A practical lesson
for Israel, and I think there's a practical lesson for us as
well in this. Don't covet anything that the
Lord has given. to someone else. Don't meddle
with them. Don't envy them or cause them
distress about it. Be happy for them. Allow them
to enjoy what God has given them. If it's a believer or unbeliever,
be happy for them. If they have anything, it's because
the Lord has given it to them. If a man is given If the Lord
has given a man a wife, I tell you, brothers and sisters, you
better not covet his wife. The Lord's given that wife. If
the Lord's given a man a house and some property and a car and
a job and money, we better not covet that. That's not ours,
is it? That's theirs. And that's what the Lord was
telling the children of Israel. Listen, this is not your land. I've made this world. I created
this world. This is mine. And I've given
this land to these other nations. Don't meddle with it. Don't make
war. So that's a good practical lesson,
isn't it? Don't covet anything that the Lord has given to somebody
else. The Lord has given them that.
Be happy for it. Be happy for it. I say that because
this is not always easy. This is not easy. You remember
Asap in Psalm 73? Poor man, he's having a terrible
time. Everything was going wrong in his life. He planted potatoes
and they rotted in the ground. He couldn't raise any animals.
They were dying and diseased. Everything was happening to this
poor man. He was chastened every morning, he said. I'm chastened.
The Lord's got His rod upon me every day. And he looked around
him at the wicked and how they were prospering. And everything
they touched turned to gold. Their children were happy and
obedient. He was having trouble in his family. And this is the
statement he made. I was envious at the foolish. When I saw the prosperity of
the wicked, I envied them. I envied what God had given them. I tell you, I bet verse 5 here
in our text in Deuteronomy 2, where the Lord said, meddle not
with the children of Esau, I have given them Mount Seir. I bet
you this was a sticking point with Israel, and I tell you why.
You will find this, I think, in Joshua chapter 24. The Lord
said this, I gave Jacob and Esau to Isaac. And to Esau I gave Mount Seir,
but Jacob and his children went down to dwell in Egypt. Into bondage. Into slavery. For hundreds of years. And while
they were down there in slavery, where were the children of Esau?
They were enjoying their homeland. They had a big mountain range.
They had cattle. They had everything. The children
of Israel were in bondage. And now here they came out and
they're in this wilderness. And they have nothing. And the Lord says, Don't you
meddle with Esau. I've given that to him. Here we are in this desert and
we can't even take the land. We watched them while we were
in bondage. Now we're in this desert and
He still won't let us out. Don't you bother. Now, you know,
it's easy to say, don't covet this. It's easy to say, don't
long after that. But boy, sometimes when you get
in that place where opportunity and desire and need and trials
come together, it's tough, isn't it? It's tough. But this will
help Israel, and this will help us. Brothers and sisters, the
earth is the Lord. and the fullness thereof, the
world and everything in it is His. Don't covet after what He's
given to somebody else. Don't envy them because of what
the Lord has given them. That's the first lesson, and
I hope we can learn it well. The second lesson, and I think
this brings us automatically to it, not only not covet what
the Lord's given them, but be content with the Lord yourself
and His gracious provisions to you. Look what he says in verse
7 of Deuteronomy chapter 2. For the Lord thy God hath blessed
thee in all the work of your hands. He knows your walking
through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your
God has been with you, thou hast lacked nothing. See that? Not only not covet, but be content
with what the Lord is to you and what He's given you. Now,
here was the difference, and you're supposed to be the difference
between you and I as God's children and the unbelievers. These nations,
they had these things that the Lord had given them. But you
know, they were so anxious about it, When they heard that the children
of Israel was coming through the wilderness close by, what
did they do? They got scared to death. They
got so anxious, they were afraid they were going to lose what
they had. And the children of Ammon and the children of Moab,
they were distressed. He said, you be careful because
they're afraid of you. They're afraid you're going to take their
land, their stuff. And here is the thing about the
ungodly, about the unbeliever. They're anxious about getting
things. They're anxious about keeping
it. They're worried sick about losing it. And there comes a
time, brothers and sisters, what is anything worth if you have
to worry yourself sick about it? But that's the difference
in the ungodly nations as opposed to the children of Israel. They
weren't to be anxious. The Lord had provided for them. Their covenant God was with them. In a cloud of the day and in
this pillar of fire at night, His presence was with them. Forty
years they had wandered in this wilderness. He had led them every
step of the way. He knows where you're at. That's
what Moses said there in verse 7. He knows you're walking through
this wilderness. Isn't it a wonderful thing, brothers
and sisters, to live in this world and our covenant God knows
us? He knows every step that we take. He knows our frame. He remembers
that we're just dust. He knows our down setting. There's
not a word in our mouth, but He knows it. He knows what we
have need of, even before we ask Him. He knows us. He knows
where we are. He knows what we need. And we
don't have to be anxious to do it. They look back, and Moses
invited them. He said, you look back over these
last 40 years. All you young people have been
growing up, he said. Your fathers have been dying,
your mothers have been dying, but He said, look at your life.
He said, have you needed anything? Hasn't the Lord supplied everything
you need? My soul, when they got up of
the morning, the Lord had laid the food out for them. He had
set the table. When they got thirsty, this rock
was following them, gushing water out of them. That's amazing.
If they wanted Me, He'd send quail among them. And Moses said,
listen, listen. Here's the difference between
you and them. They don't have God for their
covenant God. They don't have the Lord's presence.
He's not leading them. He's not providing for them.
Here's the difference, brothers and sisters, in us and every
unbeliever. You and I have a Father in heaven.
And He tells us not to be overly anxious. He tells us not to be
worried and fretful about the things of this life. Trust Him
to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. We've looked at this so many
times, but let's turn over here and look at it again in Matthew
chapter 6. Matthew chapter 6. I think you and I can look back
over our Christian life, it may be two years or it may be forty
years, but I think if you and I look back over our Christian
life, look at it in retrospect, we realize that we have lacked
nothing to bring us this far on our Christian journey. Can
you think of one thing that you've lacked? that's been necessary
to get you this far that He has not provided. You can't thank
Him for a single thing, can you? Not one single thing. And there
have been times where you thought that He pursued you, but did
He? He may have hid His presence to make you appreciate His presence,
to make you afraid to leave Him, but looking back, has He ever
left you? He hasn't, has He? Has He ever
failed to lead you in the way that you should go? There's tears,
there's heartbreaks because of your errors in your life, in
your Christian life. There are things today that you
still sob over, what you've done, your attitude, and things that
you've said and so on. But who has led you and brought
you where you are tonight? Hasn't He done it? And let's
be honest, in general, Isn't things better right now in your
Christian life than they were five years ago, or ten years
ago, or whatever? They are, aren't they? And who's
responsible for that? It's our covenant God. He has
led us and kept us and provided for us, and we lack nothing. He's not only provided our spiritual
food, but He's provided our natural food. He's provided our physical
covering. He's provided our spiritual covering. He has provided. And what your
anxious thoughts added to you. You worrying yourself sick about
it. Did that add anything? It didn't, did it? It didn't.
And that ought to bring us to trust Him better. Look what He
says here, and this is what our Lord Jesus is teaching us here
in Matthew chapter 6, and let's go all the way back up to 24.
Look at this. Matthew 6, verse 24. No man can
serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love
the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other.
You can't serve God and mamma. You can't serve God and money. We can't serve God and anything
else, can we? Therefore I say unto you, take no thought Don't
be anxious, don't worry and fret yourself sick for your life. What you shall eat, what you
shall drink, nor yet for your body what you shall put on. Is
not the life more than meat, and the body more than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do
they reap, neither gather into barns. Yet their Heavenly Father
feedeth them. Are you not much better than
they? Which of you, by taking anxious
thought, by wearing, can add one cubic unto his height, his
stature? And why take ye thought for your
raiment? Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow. They toil not, neither do they
spin. And yet I said to you that even
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothed the grass of the field, which
the day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much
more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore take no anxious
thought, saying, What shall we eat? What shall we drink? Wherewithal
shall we be clothed? For after all these things do
the Gentiles seek." Ain't that what they were so anxious about?
So distressed about? Israel is going to take our land.
Oh, no! They just began to worry themselves
sick. That's what the world does, isn't it? How are we going to
get it? How are we going to keep it?
What if we lose it? And they keep sleeping, they
get sick, and they get bad health because they're worrying about
this world and this life. Your Heavenly Father knows that
you have need of all these things, but look at this. This is what
this does. It frees us up. It frees us up
from the anxiety of trying to secure our well-being in this
present world. Give it all to your heavenly
Father. Let there be a firm trust in
your Lord, your covenant God, that He will supply all your
needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ. Trust
Him with all your heart. Rest in Him to do that. He's
glorified when we do that. And when we do that, that frees
us up to do what verse 33 tells us to do. Seek ye first, foremost,
always, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added unto you. Paul said, Be content. Godliness with contentment is
great gain. Having food and raiment, therefore,
be content. Now, I'm sure some of you here
tonight, I know Terence tonight, he could have been doing other
things in his business. Maybe some things that needed to be
done. But he's here. He's here. Maybe there's some things that
some of you needed to do tonight, but you're here. What did you
do? You trusted the Lord with those
things, didn't you? Those things will take care of
themselves. This one thing is needful. To seek first the kingdom
of God. But what about this? What if
this happens? Leave that with the Lord. The
earth is the Lord's in the fullness of. He gave it to you. Put Him
first. And I'll tell you, He'll probably
let you keep it. And if you don't, you don't want it anyway, do
you? You don't want it. That's a good lesson there, isn't
it? That's a good lesson. Good lesson. One more thing,
and we'll close. Look back one more time in our
text. Look in verse 25 of Deuteronomy chapter 2. This brings us automatically,
I think, to this point. Here in verse 25 of Deuteronomy
chapter 2, this is something that that the world don't understand,
and I would contend the church world don't even understand.
The church in our day don't even understand what the attitude
towards the world should be concerning the church. Have you ever seen
a day in your life, I know you haven't, where the world and
the church has fell in together, and you can't tell them apart?
And the church has even encouraged the world, we're just like you.
There's no difference in you, no difference in us. Well, that's
the truth, ain't it? That's the sad truth in our day. But the world is supposed to
look at the church, and here's the attitude the world is supposed
to have. Now, I know this is foreign,
but here's the attitude. And I'll read it to you, and
then I'll tell you the reason why. Look in verse 25. This day
will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee
upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear
report of thee, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of
thee." Now you say, Bruce, the world is supposed to feel that
way towards the church? The world is supposed to be afraid
of the church? Supposed to be in anguish because
of the church? Now listen, when the church is
the light of the world, When the church is the salt of the
earth, the world will look upon the church, share its message,
and I'm telling you what, the world is going to be somewhat
afraid. When the presence of God's power is among His people
when they gather, as we are tonight, when the power of His presence
is in your home, As you live your Christian life in your home,
as you live it on your job, and the Lord is present with you,
this is going to be the attitude of the world towards the church. There's going to be some trembling.
There's going to be some dread. There's going to be some fear.
How can there not be? When the Lord blesses the church
to preach the gospel, how can the world keep from fearing?
That's one of the reasons the world will not come and hear
the gospel. It makes them afraid. I've got
loved ones that will not come and hear the gospel. Why? Well, you know what they hear?
There's but one way of salvation. And that's by Jesus Christ the
Lord. You cannot approach to God to obtain favor of Him, to
be accepted of Him, but as you approach through Jesus Christ
the Lord. And here our lost religious loved
ones are, setting without Christ, dependent upon their works. And
when they hear that, what does that make them think? Man, I
ain't got no hope if what he's saying is right. That scares
me. When the world hears that they
must be barred again, or they can't see the Kingdom of Heaven,
how should they feel? When we tell them that they're
sinners and they must be washed in the Savior's blood, or they'll
stand filthy before God, shouldn't that make them anxious? That's
our whole problem today. The world doesn't fear, does
it? They're not anxious about this. We tell them death is coming. We tell them a resurrection is
coming, that judgment is coming, and they'll not fear. When God visits, we see it in
the history of the church, when the Lord visits during the days
of revival, you see the world trembling. You see whole communities
being afraid of the church. You remember in Acts chapter
5 when Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and the Lord
killed them? And remember when people heard about it? Not just
the church. But everybody that heard about
it feared. They were filled with dread.
And the Bible says nobody else joined themselves unto the church. They were scared to death. They
said, those are God's people. He's protecting them. You better
be careful when you go over there. God may kill you. You better
sit and be quiet and listen to what they've got to say. Don't
you wish it was that way in our day? But the Lord has to put
that fear. The Lord has to visit His people. And He says here, I have begun
to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nation. And that's what we need today,
isn't it? That's what we need today. Let's close with Joshua. Right over to your right in our
next book. This is a perfect example of this. This is where
Joshua sent the two spies over. And they had come here to the
harlot's house. Deuteronomy, or Joshua chapter
2. And she had them hid up in the
upstairs where she had the flax laid out. And they were ready
to lay down and go to sleep. But she comes up and look at
her attitude. Look what she says about everybody
else. Verse 8, chapter 2 of Joshua,
And before they were laid down, Rahab, this harlot, came up unto
them upon the roof. And she said unto the men, I
know that the Lord has given you the land, and that your terror
is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint
because of you. For we have heard how the Lord
dried up the waters of the Red Sea for you when you came out
of Egypt, and what He did unto the two kings of the Amorites
that were on the other side of Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you
utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these
things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any
more courage in any man because of you, for the Lord your God
He is God in heaven above and in the earth beneath. Now, therefore,
I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have showed
you kindness, that you will also show kindness unto my Father's
house and give me a true token." I think the reason we are not
seeing any conversions hardly at all in our days is because
nobody is afraid. Nobody does dread. Nobody is
trembling. Nobody is saying, oh, look at
their God. Look what He's did for them.
He's with them. He's among them. He's a great
God. This is why we must preach the sovereignty of God. He is
God in heaven above and in the earth beneath. Ain't that what
this harlot said? Your God, He's God. He's not an idol. He's God. And
it made the people tremble. and they feared, and she repented
and sought a true token. Oh, may the Lord be pleased today
to so visit us in this little place that when people come here
without a hope in Christ, they will tremble to leave without
falling on their faces and their hearts and seeking Him for mercy. Lord bless His Word.
