Psalm 19:7-14
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

I'm taking the title from Psalm
19 down at verse 7. Psalm 19 at verse 7, the title
is, The Word of the Lord is Perfect. The law or the doctrine, and
I'm rendering that word The Word of the Lord is perfect
converting the soul. Perfect, the doctrine of the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is perfect. Whenever I think
about the Word, I think of it in two ways. The written Word
of God, the written Word of God is perfect, isn't it? BECAUSE
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE. THE WORD, WRITTEN WORD, EVERY
WORD WE HAVE IN THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED AND GOD-GIVEN. YOU HOLD
IT IN YOUR HANDS. IT IS THE WORD OF THE LORD AND
IT'S PERFECT. IT'S RIGHT. IT'S TRUE IN EVERY
WAY. NEVER MAKE, GOD NEVER SPEAKS
WITH A MISTAKE OR AN ERROR. EVERYTHING HE SPEAKS IS ABSOLUTELY
PERFECT. And I think of the living word,
well that's perfect because the living word is the Lord Jesus
Christ. He is the word that was with God and the word that was
God. And everything about him is perfect. The God-man mediator, the word
made flesh, had no sin, knew no sin, and did no sin. HE IS
THE PERFECT SAVIOR. WE NEED TO GIVE US A PERFECT
RIGHTEOUSNESS AND A PERFECT SALVATION. THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE IN THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST. NOW, IN THIS PSALM, WE LOOKED
AT VERSE 1 DOWN THROUGH VERSE 6 LAST TIME, LAST WEDNESDAY EVENING,
AND THAT DECLARES THE BOOK OF GOD'S CREATION HAS ONE MESSAGE,
GOD IS GOD. AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS
EVERYTHING IN SALVATION. HE'S THE BRIDEGROOM THAT REDEEMS
AND HE'S THE BRIDEGROOM THAT SAVES. AND THEN THE SECOND PART
OF THIS PSALM IS ABOUT THE BOOK OF GOD'S WRITTEN WORD. AND THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO CONSIDER
THIS EVENING. GOD'S BOOK WE CALL THE BIBLE,
THE HOLY WORD OF GOD, OR THE SCRIPTURES ARE ALL GIVEN OF GOD. Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ,
died for our sins according to, thus saith the Lord, according
to the scriptures. I've been reading through the
book of Jeremiah the last, I think this week, I started reading
through the book of Jeremiah. And it's surprising how many
times when Jeremiah, the Lord says, Jeremiah, thus saith the
Lord, thus saith the Lord. And you can put that in front
of every scripture, thus saith the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ
died for our sin according to thus saith the Lord. The Bible,
some people say, well, the Bible contains the word of God. THAT'S
WHAT SOME PEOPLE SAY. BUT THE BIBLE DOES NOT JUST CONTAIN
THE WORD OF GOD. THE BIBLE, THE SCRIPTURES, IS
THE WORD OF GOD. WHAT YOU HOLD IN YOUR HAND IS
THE TESTIMONY OF GOD FROM HIS HEART TO YOURS. IT'S A LOVE LETTER
FROM THE LORD TO HIS PEOPLE FROM BEGINNING TO END. The Lord Jesus
Christ is the alpha, the omega, the beginning, and the end of
all the Word of God. What a privilege we have. You
know, for many, many years, back in the 13, 14, 1200s, back all
those years ago, up until the 15, 16, 1700, those people lived
in those days, they didn't have access to the Word of God. It
was kept away from the people. Catholic Church didn't want anybody
to have the Word of God, to read for themselves and ask the Lord
to show them the gospel through the Word of the Lord. But we
have such a privilege of having the Word of the Lord and so many
good study things that we have, a concordant, a dictionary, all
these Bible programs. I can look at every word and
just with a click of a mouse. I can click that word or that
word and I can see the meaning of that word in the original
and then I can click on it again and I can see how that word is
used in every place in the Bible. Such a good study tool. WE HAVE
THESE THINGS THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN US ALL ABOUT THE WORD OF
GOD. WE DO OURSELVES MUCH DISSERVICE
WHEN WE DON'T REGULARLY STUDY THE WORD OF THE LORD. NOW, IN VERSE 7, DOWN TO VERSE
11, WE SEE SIX DISTINCT CHARACTERS OF THE WORD OF GOD AND THE EFFECT
THAT IT HAS ON GOD'S PEOPLE. NOW, THE WORD OF GOD DOESN'T
HAVE AN EFFECT ON EVERYBODY. NOT AT ALL. BUT IT DOES HAVE
AN EFFECT WHERE GOD SENDS IT WITH HIS POWER. LOOK AT VERSE
7, THE DOCTRINE OR THE LAW OR THE WORD OF THE LORD IS PERFECT,
IS PERFECT. WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF IT? IT CONVERTS US. IT MAKES US NEW
CREATURES. THE WORD OF THE LORD IS PERFECT. THAT IS, IT IS COMPLETE WITHOUT
ERROR, THE WHOLE TEXT OF SCRIPTURE IS HIS HOLY TESTIMONY. LOOK BACK AT PSALM 12, VERSE
6. PSALM 12, VERSE 6. THERE ARE
SO MANY SCRIPTURES THAT TELL US ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD ITSELF. ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN OF GOD.
GOD INSPIRED. GOD GIVEN. verse 6 in psalm 12
said the words of the lord are right the words of the lord are
pure as silver tried in a furnace of earth and purified seven times
thou shalt keep them oh lord thou shalt preserve them from
this generation forever remember he said heaven and earth is going
to pass away but he said my word will never never never pass away
look at psalm 18 verse 30. 18 psalm 18 verse 30 as for god
his way is perfect the word of the lord is refined tried he
is a buckler to all those that trust him for who is a god save
the lord who is a rock save our god so the word of god IS PERFECT. IT'S PERFECT. WE HAVE A MORE
SURE WORD OF PROPHECY. HOLY MEN OF OLD SPAKE AS THEY
WERE MOVED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD. AND PAUL WRITES IN ALL SCRIPTURES
IS GIVEN OF GOD. ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION
OF GOD AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION,
FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS. THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE IN THE WORD
OF THE LORD THAT HE IS GIVEN UNTO US. THEREFORE, BECAUSE HE
GIVES US HIS WORD AND WHAT DOES HE TELL US TO DO WITH THE WORD? HE TELLS US TO PREACH THE WORD.
TO PREACH THE WORD. You remember when he write to
Timothy, he said, I charge you before God and for the Lord Jesus
Christ to preach the word, preach the word, preach the word. We don't add to the word. Someone
said it's a crime to add to it and it's treason to alter it.
It's a felony to take from it. So we don't. TAKE AND CHOOSE
AND PICK AND CHOOSE. WE GO BOOK BY BOOK, VERSE BY
VERSE, WORD BY WORD, THE WHOLE WORD OF GOD, THE WHOLE TESTIMONY
OF GOD. THAT'S WHAT WE PREACH. WE PREACH
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. WE PREACH HIM, CHRIST
AND HIM CRUCIFIED. DECLARING UNTO YOU THE TESTIMONY
OF THE LORD AS PAUL SAYS OVER HERE IN FIRST CORINTHIANS Chapter
2, he said, Brethren, when I came to you, I came not with excellency
of speech or wisdom, but declaring unto you the testimony of God.
What you hold in your hand is the will and testimony of God
concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. For I determined not to know
anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And
then Paul said over here in 1 Corinthians 15, moreover, brethren, I declare
unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which you have also
received, and wherein you stand. We preach the gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Why do we preach the gospel?
Why do we preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ? I'll give
you four brief reasons. Number one, for the glory of
the Lord. THE GLORY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
THAT'S WHY WE PREACH THE GOSPEL, TO GLORIFY HIM. NOT UNTO US,
O LORD, PSALM 115, VERSE 1, NOT UNTO US, BUT UNTO THINE NAME
DO WE GIVE GLORY FOR THY MERCY AND FOR THY TRUTHSAKE. SECONDLY,
WHY DO WE PREACH THE WORD? WHY DO WE PREACH THE GOSPEL?
BECAUSE IT'S HIS COMMAND. IT'S HIS COMMAND. GO AND PREACH
MY GOSPEL. IT'S HIS COMMAND. Thirdly, it's
the means that God has ordained to call out His elect. God's
going to call out His elect with the preaching of the word. That's
why Paul, we've seen that all the way through the book of Acts,
haven't we? Everywhere he went, every village he went, every
house he went. PUBLICLY AND PRIVATELY, WHAT'S
HE DOING? PREACHING THE WORD, PREACHING
THE WORD, PREACHING CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED. WHY DO WE PREACH
THE GOSPEL? FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, BECAUSE
IT'S HIS COMMAND, BECAUSE IT'S A MEANS THE LORD HAS ORDAINED
TO CALL OUT HIS ELECT. FAITH COMES BY HEARING, HEARING
BY THE WORD OF THE LORD. IT PLEASES GOD THROUGH PREACHING
TO CALL OUT HIS PEOPLE. THE FOURTH REASON IS THIS, IT'S
BECAUSE IT'S THE WAY THE LORD FEEDS HIS PEOPLE. Peter, do you
love me? Yeah, Lord. Well, feed my sheep. Remember we studied in Acts 20,
28, where Paul said to those elders to feed the church of
God, which he purchased with his own blood? Well, that's why
we preach the gospel. And here's the effect. Notice
converting the soul. converting the soul, or quickening,
restoring the soul, regenerating the heart. It takes the Word
of God and the power of God, God the Holy Spirit, to quicken
a dead man to life. And that's what happens when
we preach the Word of God and the Holy Spirit grabs that Word
and takes it home to the heart of the sinner by the power of
God. Of His own will begat he us with
the Word of truth. When Paul describes those who
are the elect of God, he describes those as who just did not hear
the word of the Lord in word only, but in power of the Holy
Spirit. WHEREBY HE QUICKENED US BY HIS
SPIRIT. OF HIS OWN WILL BEGET HE US WITH
THE WORD OF TRUTH. WE ARE BORN AGAIN, NOT OF A CORRUPTABLE
SEED, BUT OF AN INCORRUPTABLE SEED." WHAT? THE WORD OF GOD. SEE WHAT HE'S SAYING THERE? THE
WORD OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, COMPLETE, IT'S WHOLE, AND IT
HAS AN EFFECT. WHAT DOES IT DO? IT REGENERATES
US. IT QUICKENS US WITH THE POWER
OF GOD. IT MAKES US NEW CREATURES IN
CHRIST. THANK GOD FOR THE WORD. AND THEN
THE SECOND THING HE SAYS IN THE NEXT PART OF VERSE 7, THE TESTIMONY
OF THE LORD, THAT IS THE WILL AND TESTIMONY OF THE LORD, IT
IS SURE. WE HAVE A SURE WORD OF PROPHECY. DON'T YOU LIKE THINGS THAT ARE
SURE? THE WORD OF GOD IS SURE. IT'S ORDERED IN ALL THINGS AND
IT IS CERTAIN AND SURE. THE WORD OF THE LORD CAN BE TRUSTED. THE WORD OF THE LORD CAN BE RECEIVED.
THE WORD OF THE LORD CAN BE BELIEVED BECAUSE IT'S CERTAIN AND SURE.
THE WORD OF THE LORD IS TRUE. WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF IT? THE
EFFECT OF IT, MAKING WISE those who are simple. And I take that
to mean he takes people who are totally ignorant, ignorant of
God, ignorant of the Word, ignorant of their own sinful self before
God, he takes the Word of God and he makes us wise unto salvation. You remember WHEN PAUL WRITES
TO TIMOTHY, HE REMINDS THEM, REMINDS HIM, HE SAID, THOU FROM
A YOUTH, A CHILD, HATH KNOWN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES WHICH ARE
ABLE TO MAKE THEE, WHAT? WISE UNTO SALVATION. THAT'S WHAT
THE LORD USES TO TEACH US THE WORD OF THE LORD, MAKING US WISE. HE TAKES IGNORANT, FOOLISH PEOPLE
AND HE GIVES US Wisdom to understand the gospel and he does so by
revelation. He reveals it unto our heart
He's hid these things from the wise and prudent revealed them
undebated even so father Because it seems good in your sight we
preach Christ crucified unto the Jews a stumbling block under
the Greeks foolishness, but under them which are called and BOTH
JEWS AND GREEKS, CHRIST THE POWER OF GOD AND CHRIST THE WISDOM
OF GOD. WE SEE IN CHRIST CRUCIFIED THE
POWER OF GOD AND WE SEE IN CHRIST CRUCIFIED THE POWER OF GOD AND
THE WISDOM OF GOD, DON'T WE? LOOK AT THE NEXT VERSE, VERSE
8, PSALM 19, VERSE 8, THE STATUTES OF THE LORD. And that word statutes
means mandates, or we could say the decrees of
the Lord. The mandates or the decrees of
the Lord, they're right. Everything he has mandated is
right. Now, our governor has given quite
a few of these mandates during this pandemic. And some of the legal people have
taken him to court because they said some of those mandates that
he's issued, he doesn't have the right to do that. But my
friend, I assure you this, every mandate and every decree that
God has given from all eternity, it is right. It is good, it is
wise, it is holy. The statutes, mandate, and decrees
of God, they're founded upon his righteousness, upon principles
of holiness. They're righteous and they're
just. And here's the effect. They rejoice
the heart. THEY REJOICE THE HEART. WE REJOICE
IN THE WORD OF THE LORD. PAUL DESCRIBES THOSE DELIVERERS
AS THOSE WHO ARE CIRCUMCISED IN THE HEART, THAT REJOICE IN
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THAT WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND HAVE NO CONFIDENCE
IN THE FLESH. HERE IS THE EFFECT, REJOICING
THE HEART. WHAT REJOICES YOU MORE, THAN
HEARING THE DECREES OF GOD'S GOSPEL KNOWING THAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED
ALL THINGS FOR US. YOU MEAN THERE'S NOTHING THAT
I HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO BE JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD? NO, HE'S DONE IT
ALL. HE'S PERFORMED ALL THINGS FOR
US. DOESN'T THAT REJOICE YOUR HEART? THAT SALVATION'S OF THE
LORD? THAT SALVATION'S BY HIS GRACE
ALONE? IT'S NOT OF HIM THAT WILLETH
OR OF HIM THAT RUNNETH. It's God that shows mercy. That
rejoices our heart. His mandates, His decrees, Him
being delivered by the determinate counsel and full knowledge of
God. That rejoices my heart, knowing
that He's accomplished our salvation. We rejoice in the Lord always,
and again I say, and again I say, rejoice. And then the next part
of verse eight is the fourth thing we see. The commandment
of the Lord. The commandment of the Lord,
it is pure, perfect and right, good. The commandment of the
Lord, the Lord who is Lord of Lord, Lord of Lords and King
of Kings, it is pure. And what is the effect? It enlightens. It enlightens the eyes, the eyes
of our understanding. It enlightens us, doesn't it?
The commandment of the Lord, no mixture of air defiles it,
not a stain of sin pollutes it, it's as holy as God himself. It's pure, it's perfect, it's
right, and it is sure. I like those descriptions of
the word of the Lord. And here's the effect, it enlightens
our understanding. The Lord has ordained that through
the word, the word of God, he opened our understanding to the
glory of God that we see salvation accomplished in the Lord Jesus
Christ. He commands the light to shine
out of our hearts. He gives us an understanding
that we might know Him that is true, and that we're in Him that
is true, even in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the true God,
and this is eternal life. The effect of the word, it enlightens
us. He gives us understanding. OF
HOW SIN IS PUT AWAY AND HOW RIGHTEOUSNESS IS BROUGHT IN. HOW THE LORD JESUS
MADE AN END TO THE LAW FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVETH. HOW
DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT? WE CAN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING
OF THE GLORY OF HIS MERCY AND HIS LOVE AND HIS GRACE JUST BY
MERELY LOOKING AT THE CREATION, ALTHOUGH IT DECLARES THE GLORY
OF GOD, BUT SPECIFICALLY TO KNOW HIS MERCY AND HIS LOVE TOWARD
HIS PEOPLE, THAT COMES TO THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD. LOOK AT VERSE 9. THE EFFECT OF
IT, VERSE 8, THE FEAR OF THE LORD, LET'S GO BACK TO VERSE
9, the fifth thing is this, not only does he enlighten our eyes,
but the fear of the Lord, you see that? The fear of the Lord,
it's clean. The fear of the Lord is good
and right. The fear of the Lord is not dirty.
You remember there was that sign, I don't know if it was one of
the sports companies who put out that media on those t-shirts
and hats and everything where they said, no fear. That's the
way the ungodly are described, there's no fear of God before
the rise. But to the believer who has been
enlightened, who's been made wise by the gospel, we do fear
the Lord. Turn over here to Psalm 111.
You remember this Psalm? Psalm 111, verse 9. He sent redemption unto his people. Psalm 111, verse 9. He commanded
his covenant forever, holy and reverend is his name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of wisdom. A good understanding have all
they that do his commandments. HIS PRAISE ENDURETH FOREVER."
IT IS A HEALTHY THING TO HAVE A REVERENTIAL FEAR OF GOD. THE WORD OF THE LORD DIRECTS
US TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, DOESN'T IT? AND IN HIM WE HAVE
ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS. AND THERE, NOTICE THE EFFECT
OF IT, ENDURING FOREVER. Everything
God does for us is eternal. He saves us with an everlasting
salvation. He gives us eternal life. He's
obtained for us eternal redemption. The fear of the Lord endures
forever. We will throughout all eternity, the church of the Lord
Jesus Christ will worship Him and reverence Him in holy splendor
without sin. Can you imagine worshiping the
Lord without sin, without distraction? The fear of the Lord is right,
good, it's clean, it endures forever. The last part of verse
9, the judgments of the Lord, the judgments of the Lord are
true, or truths, and they're righteous altogether. The judgments of the Lord are
right. WHEN GOD JUDGES THIS WORLD AND SENDS A MULTITUDE OF SINNERS
TO ETERNAL CONDEMNATION, THAT'S RIGHT. IF GOD SENT ME TO HELL
FOR ETERNAL CONDEMNATION BECAUSE OF MY SIN, HE'D BE DOING RIGHT. THAT'S WHAT DAVID PRAYED IN PSALM
51. LORD, IF YOU CONDEMN ME, YOU'D
BE RIGHT. YOU'D BE JUST. YOU SEE, THE JUDGMENTS
OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT. TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS ALL TOGETHER. SHALL NOT THE JUDGE OF ALL THE
EARTH DO RIGHT? AND HE WILL. HE'LL DO RIGHT. HE'LL DO RIGHT BY HIS WORD BECAUSE
HE IS HOLY. LOOK AT VERSE 10. HIS POWER IS INVINCIBLE, HIS
JUSTICE IMPECCABLE, WHATEVER HE DOES IS RIGHT. MORE, VERSE 10, TO BE DESIRED
ARE THEY THAN GOLD. THE JUDGMENT OF THE LORD, THE
WORD OF THE LORD, WE DESIRE THAT MORE THAN WHAT IS GOLD. I MEAN, IT'S JUST A ROCK, ISN'T
IT? A SHINY ROCK? I'm amazed that you study the
history of the West, Colorado and Idaho and Nevada, the gold
mines, the silver mines, the gold strike in California in
1849. all the gold in the Klondike and the Yukon and in Alaska. Boy, I tell you, men have killed
for gold. They've sacrificed their family,
their life, their livelihood, their health for gold. Boy, they
desired it, didn't they? Better to desire the eternal
word of the Lord, because the gold of this world, you know
what Solomon called it? I've also been reading Ecclesiastes,
and in those 12 chapters, Ecclesiastes, one thing is most evident. ALL
THINGS ARE VANITY. EVERYTHING WE SEE IS VANITY,
VANITY AND VEXATION OF SPIRIT. MORE TO BE DESIRED ARE THEY THAT
IS THE JUDGMENT OF THE LORD, THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD,
THE LAW OF THE LORD, THE STATUTES OF THE LORD. THERE ARE MORE TO
BE DESIRED THAN GOLD, YEA, MUCH FINE GOLD. THEY'RE SWEETER ALSO. than honey
and the honeycomb. And I like to fix a peanut butter
and honey sandwich and put a few raisins on it. And I like that
honey and it is sweet. And they tell me it's nutritious.
I guess it is. But his word is so sweet to our
soul It's the honey. One place in
the Psalms, it's called, the word of God is called the honey
out of the rock. And that's what we have. It's
not the honey out of the beehive. All that, that's good, I enjoy
that. But it's the honey out of the
rock, the Lord Jesus Christ. So we desire his word, don't
we? His word is a light and a lamp
unto our feet. Sweeter, sweeter, better. than honey and the honeycomb,
more to be desired than gold, silver, diamonds, what are those
things? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Verse 11, moreover, by them,
that is by the word of the Lord, you can go all the way back and
COMPILE EVERYTHING THAT HE SAID, THE WORD, THE TESTIMONY, THE
STATUTES, THE COMMANDMENT, THE JUDGMENTS OF THE LORD, BY THEM
THE SERVANT IS WARNED. WE HAVE MANY WARNINGS IN THE
WORD OF GOD. AND IN THE KEEPING OF THEM, OR
THE RECEIVING OF THEM, AND THE BELIEVING OF THEM, IS A GREAT
REWARD. WE RECEIVE THE WORD NOT AS IT
IS THE WORD OF MEN, WORKETH IN YOU THAT BELIEVE, IN THE KEEPING
OF THEM, THE RECEIVING OF THEM, THE BELIEVING OF THEM, THERE'S
A GREAT REWARD IN BELIEVING THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
YOU SEE, HE IS OUR REWARD. I DON'T EXPECT ANY REWARD IN
GLORY OTHER THAN CHRIST. WHENEVER THE WORD REWARD is used
in scripture, notice it doesn't say rewards, plural. Christ is our exceeding great
reward. Verse 12. Who can understand his sin? And who can understand anything
about cleansing from sin apart from the Word of the Lord? You
see, it's the Word of the Lord that tells us that the blood
of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all our sin. Who can
understand anything about what he is before God, a sinner? THAT'S
WHAT I AM. WHAT I DO IS JUST A RESULT OF
WHAT I AM. BUT WHO CAN UNDERSTAND ANYTHING
ABOUT HIS SINFUL GUILTY CHARACTER APART FROM GOD SAYS ALL HAVE
SIN AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. IF WE UNDERSTAND SOMETHING
OF OUR SIN WE PRAY UNTO THE LORD, LORD CLEANSE ME. HAVE MERCY UPON
ME THE SINNER. CLEANSE ME FROM MY SECRET Notice
that word has been supplied, but it's okay. Secret sins. Sins that I'm not even aware
of. Consciously aware of. Lord, cleanse me from all my
sin. That's exactly what Christ did. The blood of Jesus Christ
cleanses us from all our sin. So much so that God said, their
sin and their iniquity, you know what, I don't even remember them
anymore. Verse 13, here's our prayer. Cleanse me from my sins,
keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins, and let them not have dominion
over me. Then I shall be upright, I'll
be justified, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression
or from much transgression. Keep me, Lord, from my sin, from
myself. Don't let self reign. Don't let sin have dominion over
me. Then shall I be justified and
I shall be innocent from the great transgression here, I believe
is what he's talking about as apostasy, forsaking the gospel. Verse 14, let the words of my
mouth come from the meditation of my
heart. With the heart, man believeth
unto salvation. With the mouth, confession is
made unto salvation. Let the words of my mouth and
the meditation of my heart be acceptable before God. Oh Lord, You're my rock, that
word strength is my rock. He's my rock and he's my redeemer.
Now if he's your rock, your strength, the foundation, and he's your
redeemer, all things are well. Our redeemer
is our deliverer. And that's what the Lord had
done. He delivered us from our sin. In whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sin, according to the riches
of his grace. That the words of my mouth and
the meditation of my heart, let it be Christ. Let it be on the
Lord Jesus Christ. He's my Lord. The Lord is my
light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? THE LORD IS
MY STRENGTH, HE'S THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE, HE'S THE STRENGTH
OF MY SALVATION, HE'S THE STRENGTH OF MY PARDON, AND HE'S MY REDEEMER,
THE ONE SIN OF GOD, WHO HAS REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW,
BEING MADE A CURSE FOR US. THANK GOD FOR HIS WORD. THE WORD
OF THE LORD IS
