What does the Bible say about glorifying Christ?

The Bible emphasizes that Christ's glory is central to worship and the life of believers.

The New Testament frequently highlights the importance of glorifying Christ as essential to the Christian faith. For instance, in John 12:32, Jesus states, 'And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.' This indicates that the glorification of Christ facilitates the drawing of sinners to Him. Furthermore, according to Revelation 5:12-13, the heavenly hosts proclaim Christ’s glory, emphasizing that worthy is the Lamb who was slain. As believers, our worship should consistently reflect and exalt the glory of Christ, as it is through His glorification that we experience the fullness of His grace and love.

Why is glorifying Christ important for Christians?

Glorifying Christ is essential for true worship, unity among believers, and the comfort of troubled souls.

Glorifying Christ is crucial for various facets of the Christian life. Firstly, true worship stems from acknowledging and exalting Him. It is only when Christ is seen in all His glory that believers can genuinely render praise and experience heartfelt worship. Moreover, Christ's glorification fosters unity among God's people; as stated in Ephesians 4:3, we are to endeavor to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. When Christ is glorified, believers are drawn closer together in love and unity. Additionally, for troubled saints, looking to the glorified Christ provides comfort and peace, as they recognize His sovereignty and compassionate reign over their lives. Thus, glorifying Christ is not merely an act of praise; it is fundamental to our identity and community as Christians.

Ephesians 4:3

How do we know that glorifying Christ draws sinners to Him?

Scripture affirms that the glorification of Christ compels sinners to seek Him.

The relationship between glorifying Christ and drawing sinners is profoundly rooted in biblical teaching. John 12:32 explicitly states that when Christ is lifted up, He will draw all people to Himself. This statement underscores the direct correlation between Christ's glorification and His magnetic ability to attract those who are spiritually lost. When Christ is spoken of with grandeur and exaltation, His irresistible grace is made evident to those seeking redemption. Furthermore, the Gospel accounts depict how Christ's miracles and teachings, which revealed His divine nature, led many to repent and believe in Him. Therefore, understanding and proclaiming the glory of Christ is essential for evangelism and drawing the lost into a saving relationship with Him.

John 12:32

I have one goal in preaching this morning: that Christ be glorified.  I want to declare Christ in all of His glory.  The only way we will be able to truly worship is if Christ is glorified.  The only way sinners will be drawn to Christ is if Christ is glorified.  The only way God’s sheep will be fed is if Christ is glorified.  The only way troubled saints will be comforted is if Christ is glorified.  The only way anyone will have peace for their soul is if Christ is glorified.  The only way God’s children will be drawn together in love for each other is if Christ is glorified in their eyes.  Brethren, pray with me that Christ will be glorified today!
