What does the Bible say about heaven?

Heaven is for those who have been redeemed by Christ and have trusted Him for salvation.

The Bible teaches that heaven is not for everyone, but specifically for the redeemed of the Lord, those chosen and called by God. In John 3:18, it is clearly stated that 'he who believes is not condemned,' indicating that faith in Jesus Christ is essential for salvation. This concept aligns with the understanding that heaven is reserved for those who have repented of their sins and placed their trust in Jesus as their Savior. Thus, the only way to assurance of a heavenly home is through the Gospel and a relationship with Christ.

How do we know that only the redeemed go to heaven?

Scripture affirms that only those chosen and saved by God will enter heaven.

The assurance that only the redeemed will enter heaven stems from Scripture's clear teaching on salvation. Romans 8:28-30 outlines God's purpose in calling and justifying those He has chosen, demonstrating that salvation is entirely dependent on God's grace rather than human effort. The Gospel emphasizes the necessity of faith in Christ, as seen in John 3:18, highlighting the contrasting fates of believers and non-believers. Therefore, it is through God’s election and the redemptive work of Christ that we confidently assert that heaven belongs solely to the redeemed.

Why is believing in Jesus important for Christians?

Belief in Jesus is essential for salvation and access to heaven.

Believing in Jesus is paramount because He is the sole means of salvation, which is foundational to Christian faith. According to John 14:6, Jesus declares, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.' This exclusivity emphasizes that faith in Him as the Savior is the only way to reconciliation with God. Additionally, as revealed in John 3:36, those who believe in the Son have eternal life, while those who reject Him face condemnation, reinforcing the significance of faith in one’s eternal destiny. Therefore, belief in Jesus is not merely an option but an absolute necessity for all who seek to know God and inherit eternal life.

John 14:6, John 3:36

There is a misconception that heaven is for everyone or that everyone who dies goes to heaven. This is false and not based on the testimony of God's holy word. Heaven is for the redeemed of the Lord, those who have been chosen by God, called and who have had their sins forgiven and are saved.

It is very easy to know where you are heading when you leave this life. "He that believes on Him ( that is to put your trust in Jesus Christ alone as your only Saviour from sin and your only hope of being saved) is not condemned: but he who believes not is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"

The thought of going to heaven while you have rejected God and His Son, neglected His Gospel and salvation, of living your life for yourself alone may please the flesh and sound very nice but it is a lie. Heaven is for those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ and who have believed the Gospel and trusted Him. If you don't belong to Him you can be sure that heaven will not be your home.
