What does the Bible say about sin being pardoned?

The Bible teaches that through Christ, believers are forgiven of all their sins and stand perfect before God.

The scripture reveals that true believers, though they acknowledge their sinfulness, are entirely pardoned through faith in Christ. They are seen as perfect in Him because of the Father's love for His Son, which extends to those united with Him. This assurance is rooted in passages such as Ephesians 1:4-5, where Paul emphasizes God's choice of believers in Christ for adoption, and Romans 8:1 which assures that there is no condemnation for those in Him. Therefore, the doctrine of the pardon of sin is essential for understanding the believer's standing before God;

How do we know that God forgives our sins?

God's forgiveness is assured through faith in Christ, as expressed in His Word.

The certainty of God's forgiveness stems from His Word, which promises that all who believe in Christ are justified and forgiven. As believers, we cling to His promises, denying our own feelings or senses that might contradict this truth. passages like Romans 8:30 underline the inevitability of glorification for those whom God has called, affirming His commitment to our salvation and complete forgiveness. This assurance must prompt us to confront sin boldly, knowing we have His grace supporting us in the struggle against our corrupt nature;

Romans 8:30

Why is being at peace with God important for Christians?

Being at peace with God provides believers with assurance and a foundation for spiritual warfare against sin.

Understanding that one is at peace with God is crucial for the Christian life, as it undergirds our confidence in approaching Him and empowers us in the battle against sin. This peace is rooted in the believer's identity in Christ, where God regards them with the same love He has for His Son. This profound assurance enables believers to fight against sin and temptation without the burden of guilt and condemnation. As Romans 5:1 states, 'Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,' highlighting that true peace comes from our justification and standing in Christ, not from our own righteousness;

Romans 5:1

     It is true that I have sin in me, but it is pardoned. God has forgiven me all trespasses. I stand before Him in my Redeemer, Who undertook for me, and I am perfect in Him. The Father chose me in His Son: He looks upon the face of His beloved, and sees me in Him. In Christ He is well pleased, so He is with me! As He loves Christ – He loves me! This is the glorious privilege which by faith I now enjoy. I deny sight and sense, and I believe the Word of God! I adhere strictly to the Word of God concerning me, believing myself to be dead indeed unto sin in Christ, and in Him absolutely freed from guilt and condemnation.

     The Father is at peace with me, and He loves me in His son, with the same love with which He loves Christ – His Father and my Father. With this persuasion I go to war with my corruption. They are fighting against everything that is dear and precious to my soul. But having the promised grace of the almighty Savior for my help, I desire to set upon them in His name. I am at war with sin but at peace in Christ!
