What does the Bible say about God's love?

The Bible reveals God’s love as immense and everlasting, surpassing all earthly beauty.

The Scriptures often illustrate God's love as an immense ocean, emphasizing its boundless nature and eternal quality. As seen throughout the Bible, God's love is unfathomable and surpasses human understanding, making the loveliness of the world seem trivial in comparison. Romans 8:38-39 assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, highlighting its permanence and depth. In Heaven, this love will be fully manifested, creating a longing in believers to experience it in all its fullness.

Romans 8:38-39

How do we know God's love is true?

We know God's love is true through the Scriptures and the witness of the Holy Spirit.

The truth of God's love is established in Scripture and the transformative experience of believers. God's love is not only proclaimed in the Word but demonstrated in the person of Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for us (John 15:13). The Holy Spirit also testifies to this love within the hearts of believers, providing assurance and drawing them into deeper communion with Him. Such experiences, coupled with biblical truth, assure us of the reality of God's immense love.

John 15:13, Romans 5:5

Why is God's love important for Christians?

God's love is foundational for Christian faith, providing comfort, assurance, and motivation for holy living.

God's love is crucial for Christians as it forms the basis of our relationship with Him and shapes our identity as His children. Understanding His immense and everlasting love offers profound comfort amidst life's trials, reminding us that we are cherished and valued. Moreover, it motivates us to live in response to that love, expressing gratitude through obedience and service. Additionally, the promise of experiencing this love fully in Heaven fuels our hope and perseverance as we journey through life as pilgrims.

1 John 3:1, Romans 8:28

    Dear friend,

May Jesus be yours - all that He is, and all that He has. Then you will be as rich as an archangel!

May He captivate you more with His infinite beauty and enable you to live more blessedly upon His infinite fullness, that He may keep His royal court in your soul!

The more you are acquainted with Him, the more you will grow in love to Him; for He is altogether lovely, an immense ocean of everlasting love!  The loveliness of the whole world is but a drop compared to His immeasurable love. What must Heaven be, where His love is to be fully manifested and enjoyed forever! There we shall see Him! Oh, for that day!

But even along our pilgrim way, He walks with us and makes our hearts burn within us. These sweet foretastes of His love draw us on and whet our appetite for Heaven. A few more of these foretastes, and we shall get to the fountainhead and drink rivers of pleasure forevermore!

To His precious dear heart's love, I commend you and yours, and am for His sake your friend and servant,
