What does the Bible say about salvation?

The Bible teaches that salvation is a new birth and a transformation into a new creature in Christ Jesus.

Salvation is not merely an act of trying Jesus or making a moral reformation; rather, it is an act of God that produces profound change in the believer's life. According to the Scriptures, salvation is a work of regeneration, where God makes someone a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). This transformation signifies that one moves from spiritual death to life, showing that salvation is entirely God's work based on His eternal purpose.

2 Corinthians 5:17

How do we know salvation is true?

We know salvation is true through the revelation of Scripture and the transformation it brings in believers' lives.

The truth of salvation is grounded in God's Word, which reveals His plan of redemption. Scripture clearly outlines that God purposed salvation in eternity, illustrating that it is not an afterthought but part of His divine will (Ephesians 1:4-5). Additionally, the evidence of changed lives among believers serves as a testament to the reality of salvation, corroborating God's faithfulness to His promises.

Ephesians 1:4-5

Why is new birth important for Christians?

New birth is essential as it signifies the transformative work of God in a believer’s life and their entry into God’s kingdom.

The concept of new birth is vital for Christians as it represents the beginning of a renewed relationship with God through Jesus Christ. As stated in John 3:3, one cannot see the kingdom of God without being born again, which underscores the necessity of divine intervention in salvation. This new birth not only bestows new life but also enables believers to live out their faith authentically, reflecting the character of Christ and fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives.

John 3:3

Salvation is not to “try God” – it is to know God.  It is not moral reformation – but a new birth and life.  Salvation is not letting Jesus save you, but God making you to become a new creature in Christ Jesus.  Your salvation only surprises you – God purposed it in eternity!
