Why is the concept of Jesus as both God and man important for Christians?

Understanding Jesus as both fully God and fully man is fundamental to Christian theology. This dual nature enables Him to relate to our human experiences while also possessing the divine authority needed for our salvation. As the eternal Son of God, He embodies divine holiness and righteousness, fulfilling the law perfectly on our behalf. Simultaneously, His humanity allows Him to empathize with our struggles and to genuinely represent us in His sacrificial death. Without this duality, Christ could not be our advocate or the sufficient Savior who overcomes sin and death. Hebrews 4:15 highlights this when it speaks of Him as one who was tempted in every way, yet without sin, making Him the perfect mediator who intercedes for us before the Father.
