Thy Be seated we'll sing hymn number 110 110 Alas, and did my Savior bleed,

this evening, I'd like to read Psalm 40. Psalm 40. I waited patiently for the Lord,
and he inclined unto me and heard my cry. He brought me up also
out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet
upon a rock, established my goings. And he hath put a new song in
my mouth, praise unto our God, many shall see, and fear, and
shall trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh
the Lord his trust and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn
aside to lies. Many, O Lord my God, are thy
wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which
are to usward. They cannot be reckoned up in
order unto thee. If I would declare and speak
of them, they are more than can be numbered. Sacrifice and offering
thou didst not desire, Mine ears hast thou opened, burnt offering
and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I
come. In the volume of the book it
is written of me. I delight to do thy will, O my God. Yea, thy
law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness
in the great congregation. Lo, I have not refrained my lips,
O Lord, Thou knowest. I have not hid Thy righteousness
within my heart. I have declared Thy faithfulness
and Thy salvation. I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness
and Thy truth from the great congregation. Withhold not Thou
Thy tender mercies from me, O Lord. Let Thy lovingkindness and Thy
truth continually preserve me, for innumerable evils have compassed
me about. My iniquities have taken hold
upon me so that I am not able to look up. They are more than
the hairs of mine head. Therefore, my heart faileth me.
Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me. O Lord, make haste to help
me. Let them be ashamed and confounded
together that seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be driven
backward and put to shame that wish eat me evil. Let them be
desolate for reward of their shame that say unto me, aha,
aha. Let all those that seek thee
rejoice and be glad in thee. Let such as love thy salvation
say continually, the Lord be magnified. But I am poor and
needy, yet the Lord thinketh upon me. Thou art my help and
my deliverer. Make no tarrying, O my God. Our most high and heavenly, almighty,
all righteous, God the Father, we come to you through your blessed
son. We thank you for your many mercies. They be countless. And we thank you for your perfect will. Thank you for your
grace, for your righteousness, for your holiness. We thank you for the precious
covenant of Jesus Christ. Father, we thank you that you
are our, that you are our all. You help us, you hold us, you
guide us, you teach us, you keep us. You do everything for us that
we cannot do ourselves. Lord, we thank you for your blessed
word. We ask that you would teach it
to us, give us understanding, give us
ears to hear, hearts to love, Eyes to see. Lord, we just read
that our troubles are more than the hairs of our head, but your
mercy endureth forever. And they are countless. What a blessing it is, Lord.
The hairs of our head are numbered, but our mercies are countless. Lord, we pray for those who are
weak and weary. Those who the flesh is failing
them, Lord. Uphold their spirit, if it would
please you. Lord, send peace to their hearts.
Raise their bodies again if it be thy will. Father, we ask that you would
send a spirit amongst tonight. That you would be with our pastor
as he stands before us. Lord, we pray that thy will be
done through all of earth as it is in heaven. I ask that your
word would go forth and accomplish as you see fit. Lord, we ask that you'd let us
not meet in vain tonight. Let us to lift up the holy name. Lord, we pray these things for
Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. Hymn number 474. Not have I gotten,
but what I received. Grace hath bestowed it, since
I have believed. ? Pride I abase ? I'm only a sinner
? Saved by grace ? Only a sinner ? Saved by grace ? Only a sinner
? Saved by grace ? This is my story ? To God be the glory I'm
only a sinner saved by grace Once I was foolish and sin ruled
my heart Causing my footsteps from God to depart Jesus hath
found me I now am a sinner, saved by grace. Only a sinner, saved by grace. Only a sinner, saved by grace. This is my story, to God be the
glory. I'm only a sinner saved by grace. Tears unavailing, no merit had
I. Mercy had saved me, or else I
must die. Sin had alarmed me, fear in God's
face. But now I'm a sinner, saved by
grace. Only a sinner, saved by grace
Only a sinner, saved by grace This is my story, to God be the
glory I'm only a sinner, saved by grace Suffer a sinner whose
heart overflows, Loving his Savior to tell what he knows. Once more to tell it would I
embrace, I'm only a sinner saved by I'm only a sinner, saved by grace
Only a sinner, saved by grace This is my story, to God be the
glory I'm only a sinner, saved by grace Mark 12 again, I'm gonna finish
up this chapter, start fresh after our meeting in chapter
13. Darrell Hardman, his wife, called me and said that his fever's
gone down and his antibiotics are working good,
but they're gonna keep him a couple of days. And let me, I also wanna
mention this before I get into the message, that Cody Henson
is gonna come over here to preach this next week. He's got a little
baby that's, how old is he? Two and a half. Name's Isaac. And he started having seizures
here about, what, three or four months ago? Two months ago? Yeah,
a month ago, started having seizures. And that's very stressful for
them. And it just stays on my mind
all the time with, you know, You talk about helpless. I mean,
we are helpless anyway without the Lord. I mean, it's just,
but when you got a baby and ain't nothing you can do except trust
him with the Lord and hopefully that the doctors can find out
what's wrong or outgrows it. But that's just, that's just
a, that's a heavy burden to bear. That's a heavy burden to bear.
So y'all remember Cody and his family and uh, All right, I will start here
in verse 41. And Jesus sat over against the
treasury and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury.
And many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain
poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples,
and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow
hath cast more in than all they which have cast into the treasury.
For they all did cast in of their abundance, but she of her wont
did cast in all that she had, even all her living." You know, The wisdom of our Lord
Jesus is always amazing, the wisdom that He uses. And here
we see it again, oh, how we see it. The Savior sat watching men
go by the treasury. They had a treasury there, a
box, a big box, and people come in and throw their money in it.
And He sees these men out making their offers, giving their gifts.
Now, he had just exposed their hypocrisy for devouring widows'
houses. He talked about how awful they
were, the way they treated widows. You know, they would forcibly
take away their houses. They would take their money,
take all their money, and then take their houses and homes away
from them. And oh, my! And now he shows
by his own example how widows should be treated. And He's going
to show us the hypocrisy of the scribes, He did that. He's now
going to reveal the honesty, the sincerity, and the commitment
and the love that she had for her God, that she, of this poor
widow. And He places genuine religion,
which she has, against this sham religion that the Pharisees,
the Herodians, and the scribes had. Two different types of people
here, all together. Some make long prayers, tired
widows' houses, and then he looks over here at this, he just said
a certain poor widow. Our Lord oftentimes said a certain
man, or a certain woman, a certain person, and you know, it don't
make no difference who their name is, He just said a certain
person. And He knows who it is, or He
wouldn't call attention to it. He knows exactly who it is. And
you know, so our Lord here, He comes and He watches these people
start casting in their monies. And He shows us how widows ought
to be treated, especially poor widows. When they were poor,
these folks didn't care for them. These fellows that devoured widows'
houses, they didn't care for the poor widows because they
didn't have nothing they could get from them. They didn't have
nothing they could give them. So they didn't pay any attention
to them. But let me first say this, this is my first point.
THE LORD JESUS SEES THAT ALL THAT'S DONE ON THIS EARTH, DOWN
TO THE MINUTEST DETAIL. OUR LORD JESUS SEES ALL THAT'S
DONE IN THIS EARTH. AND HE LOOKED, AND HE SAID, WATCH
IT SAYS THERE IN VERSE 41, HE SAID OVER AGAINST THE TREASURY.
HE SAID DOWN BY THE TREASURY. HE SAID DOWN. AND WATCH THOSE FELLAS. WATCH
A LOT OF PEOPLE COME IN THERE. AND HE SAID AGAINST THE TREASURY.
And he behold how the people cast in their money. He looked
and he saw the rich and he looked and he also saw a poor widow.
He mentioned her twice as a poor widow, poor twice in two verses
called her poor widow. And you know, our Lord also,
also sees everything that goes on in this earth. Now you keep
this and look in Proverbs chapter 15 in verse three. Look what
it says over here in Proverbs chapter 15 and verse three, talking
about our Lord. He looked and he saw the rich.
He looked and he also saw the poor. He looked and he also saw the
poor. Look what it says here in verse
three of Proverbs 15. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, every place,
every place. They're here, they're outside,
they're in Kentucky, they're in Indiana, they're in China,
God sees every place, every place. And look what He says, Beholden
the evil and the good. He sees exactly what people are
doing. And I tell you, I don't know
about you, but that gives me comfort to know that God's got
His eye on me. You know, that old song said,
He's got His eye on the sparrow, imagine what He'll do for you.
And I tell you, here He goes. You know, our Lord Jesus, back
over in our text, you would think that His mind would be occupied,
that's all before Him. The next chapter, He goes, In
chapter 14, He s going to be apprehended, He s going to be
taken, and you d think He d be preoccupied with all that s before
Him. You d think that s what would
be on His mind. Talk about His betrayal. He knew that Judas
was going to betray Him with a kiss. He knew of His unjust
judgment that was coming in the Pharisees judgment hall, in the
palace of the high priest. He know that his cross laid before
him. He knew that he was going into
Gethsemane and he's going to pray until his sweat came as
great drops of blood. He knew that his death was close
at hand. He knew that he had just one
more day and an evening and they would come and take him and take
him away. You would think that that's what
our Lord would be thinking about, but that's not what's on his
mind at all. That's not what's on his mind. Oh, you know, he
could have been talking about the destruction of the temple.
He said, tear down this temple and I'll restore it in three
days. And the Jews being scattered all over the world, but these
things were, wasn't immediately before him. And yet he, you know,
with all that's facing our Lord, he's sitting there and he's watching
this poor widow. Got his eye on that poor widow. Got his eye on that poor widow.
Oh my. He pays attention to the conduct
of a certain poor widow. Nothing, nothing is too little
to escape his attention. Nothing is too little to escape
his attention. Absolutely nothing. It don't
get too small for our Lord to escape his attention. Like I've
told you countless times, he counts the hairs on our head.
Counts the hairs on our head. He's got our days numbered. He's
got our days numbered. He's got our hours numbered.
You know, David said, make me to know the end of my days. And
he said our days is as a head breath. God's got the day that
I leave this world already marked out. He's got it EXACTLY when
it's going to happen for me. So why would I, you know, be
apprehensive about getting to that day? He pays attention to
the LITTLEST THINGS. Nothing, I don't care how minute
it is, it does not escape His attention. People say, Don't
bother God with that. Listen, you ain't going to bother
God. You're not going to bother Him.
How are you going to bother Him? you going to bother Him? And
I tell you something else, He has a book of remembrance. Over
in Malachi chapter 3 it says over there that, Thy Lord has
a book of remembrance, a book of remembrance, and He says that,
oh listen, that book of remembrance for those that often spake one
to another and feared the Lord and paid attention to Him, He
has a book of remembrance. And I, you know, he writes down,
I don't know how to say it. You know, he talks in terms for
us to understand. And if I want to remember anything,
I have to write it down. If I don't write it down, just
forget it. And I got to put it somewhere where I can reach and
get it when I get where I'm going. Because I can't remember. But
God, He said He has a book of remembrance. He has a book of
life. And the same hand that formed
the worlds, the same hand that formed the worlds and upholds
them by the word of his power, you know, the same eyes that
sees the council of the kings of the earth, he's the same one
that sees all, rich and poor alike. And he called more attention
to the poor than he ever did the rich. He ever did, the rich. Let me look over, keep Mark now,
and look over here in Psalm 139. This is one of my favorite Psalms
right here. If you read this, it's so, look what he says here
in Psalm 139, in verse 11. If I say, surely the darkness
shall cover me, Oh, it's dark, nobody can't see me, can't see
me. Even the night shall be light
about me. What he said, God, it'd be darkest
pitch where I'm at, and I can't, nobody see me. But he said, when
you look at me, it's just nothing but light. I got a light, and
I'll tell you what, you can't hide. That's what he said, you
can't hide from me. And look what else he says here. Yea,
the darkness hideth not from thee, but the night shineth as
the day, the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. God sees things as they are.
And all, Hebrews 4.13 says, all things, all things are open and
naked before him with whom we have to do. And he measures,
our Lord measures the littlest and the greatest. You know, He
measures the littleness and the greatness by a very, very different
measure than we do, than man does. God's measure is different
than ours is, always has been, and always will be. What we think
is great, God thinks it's nothing. What we think is nothing, God
may look at it and say, That's everything! that s what He does
here. Whatever is trivial or whatever
is great, He sees all and He judges the measure. God s the
one that judges the measure. And you know, you remember our
Lord says this, With whatever measure you meet, whatever measure
you make, He said that s the measure you ll get back to you.
And oh, He measures the littleness and He measures the greatness.
And boy, He has a very, very different measure than man's.
And it says here, He saw the rich. He saw the rich casting
in large amounts. And it says there in verse 41,
the people and many that were rich cast in much, cast in much,
cast in much. Let's give you an illustration.
A billionaire, a billionaire, and I don't know how much money
that is, it's a bunch. But if he gives a million dollars,
he ain't gave anything. But everybody wants to talk about
how generous he is if he gives a million dollars. But there's
a rich man come to our Lord Jesus Christ, a rich man. A rich man,
rich young man came to our Lord and he says this, he said, what
good thing must I do to inherit eternal life? He said, sell everything
you got and give it to the poor and you'll have riches in heaven.
He went away sorrowful because he had much goods, much goods. And he went away. But here I
hear these people cast in, that cast in much, cast in a whole
lot. And they cast in large amounts.
And there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with
it. People's got more money, ought to give more money. And
yet he saw, he saw it wasn't the amount that these people
gave. But he saw what the gift of the heart. He looks on the
heart. He don't look on what we do on the outside. He looks
on the heart. And he looked on the heart of this giver. And
he's looking on the hearts of these givers here. And he said
he saw also a poor widow. A poor widow. A poor widow. She cast in two mites. You know
what a two mites is? A fourth of a penny. A fourth
of a penny. That's all she had. And she gave
every bit of it. A fourth of a penny. And oh my. And I tell you what she gave
was very, very little by human standards. But what was important
is the value that our Lord put on it. That's the only thing
that's interested in this world, is what our Lord says about it,
what our Lord puts value on it, what Christ puts value on it,
and that's what I want, and that's what you're interested in, is
what's valuable to Christ, what's Christ! And you know, and to
me, the greatest thing that a person, you know, When the Lord Jesus
Christ comes and gives us a new heart and saves us by His grace,
then you know what becomes important to us? Not what we give. Our relationship with Him is
what counts, and our Lord looks at the little things. You say,
Well, you know, He won't pay any attention to what I'm saying,
what I'm doing. Yes, He does! Our Lord pays attention to His
sheep. He even said, He said, it'd be
better for a man to have a millstone thrown around his neck and cast
into the sea than to feed one of these little ones of mine. Oh my. So she gave very, very
little by human standards. But what's important is the value
our Lord put on it. I remember one time, I may have
told you this, years ago, I was going off somewhere to preach,
and I don't even remember where it was. It had a little old bitty
card, and you could put three dollars in it, and I mean go
a long, long way, but I couldn't do that now, but I mean you could
go a long way. And I went off somewhere to preach.
I don't even remember where it was. And I got through preaching,
and this little lady come up to me, and she said, Tried to
slip me $2. Here, here, preacher. Said, here's
$2. I want to help you out. I said, oh, sister, please don't
give me that. Said, I don't need that. I don't need that $2. She
got tears in her eyes, started crying. She said, please take
it. Said, if I don't, if you don't, I won't get no blessing
from the Lord. She said, you know, God put this
on my heart. So please take it. $2. But she gave probably a lot of
what she had. She probably had very, very little.
And I didn't want to take that $2, but I didn't want her to
be offended or be hurt. I remember that to this day,
$2. I remember one time that a dear preacher friend of mine, there's so many things happened
over the years. A dear preacher friend of mine sent me $25 in
an envelope. And my dog laid the mail down
and the dog got a hold of it. Everybody scattered all over
the crop. So I had to get it all back. But he thought enough
of me and evidently we needed it. But he sent us $25. Had been
years and years ago. So I tell you, you think the
Lord don't know what's going on in your life. If you got a
need, he gonna take care of that need. If there's something going
on in your life that you need, you really need, God's gonna
see that you get it. I remember, and I'll tell you
this another one, and every one of y'all's been through this.
Every single one of you's been through this one time or another. Winter was coming on, and I'll
tell you what, we was living in a little old trailer down
there, and we didn't have the money to buy winter clothes with. We just didn't have it. Driving in old cars, and it's
cold. Went to the mailbox one day,
and there's a $100 bill in that mailbox. We went, bought winter clothes.
Bought our kids two new coats for the winter. Got some boots,
you know, to keep your feet dry. Oh, the Lord, listen. And that's
why he saw this poor widow. He saw her. And if the Lord sees
us, He really sees us. He really sees us. Ain't you
glad He does? Ain't you glad He does? And oh, listen, He made
a serious judgment between the gifts. Over in Luke it says you
know of a TRUTH, but here He says, look what it says there in verse
43 here. And he called unto him disciples, his disciples, and
saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow
hath cast in more than all of them hath cast into the treasury. And I'll tell you what, there's
no telling how much money they put in there, but our Lord says
she gave more than all of them put together. Now how could that be? They said because they gave of
their abundance. above abundance. You know, two
mites, two mites. And our Lord said, it's more
than all of them put in that offering. He watched them come
in there, throw their gold in, throw their silver in, throw
several hundred dollars in there. Just see them throw, you know,
put it in there. Oh, my. And what this widow did
was so important in the eyes of Christ. Look what he said. He called his disciples and saith
unto them, I'm gonna give you an object lesson right here.
He said, I'm gonna give you all an object lesson. I say unto
you, see this widow? See this poor widow right here?
See her? You seen all those fellas putting
all their money in? You see, you heard that money
jangle in there. You heard that hit the bottom.
You heard all that money going in there. He said, look at this.
I want you to see this widow. I want you to see this widow
right here. It's so important in the eyes of the Lord. He called
his disciples, draw their attention to it. And oh my, use this widow
as a object lesson to the Lord Jesus Christ. to these dear saints
of his. He said, now this is it. And
you know when he sent them, he sent them out to preach one time.
And he said, don't take no script with you. Don't take an extra
coat. Don't take no money with you.
Don't take nothing with you. And they went out and they went
and preached and they got back. And now the Lord said, did you
lack anything? Nothing. Nothing. They went out with nothing. And he said, did you lack anything
while you was gone? Nothing. Well, who fed you? Somebody's always there with
a meal. Well, who took care of your affairs for you? There's
always somebody there. Where'd you sleep at? There's
always a bed you provided for me. So when they got back, he
said, did you lack for anything? They said, no, we didn't lack
for nothing. And I tell you what, What made this gift, what made
this gift so precious to our Lord Jesus Christ? They cast
in of their abundance, they had lots, they had plenty, they had
plenty. She cast in her poverty, said she's poor widow. She cast
in all of her living, whatever money she had left, she put it
in that box that day. She put it in there. And I want
to show you, I want to show you something. Over, look with me
over at 2 Corinthians chapter 8. I want to show you a couple
of things and then I'll be done. 2 Corinthians chapter 8. And look in verse 8. Paul, he's talking here to the
Corinthians about offerings to take up to the poor saints at
Jerusalem, and he said, I speak not by commandment, but by occasion
of the forwardness of others, other people's gave, and to prove
the sincerity of your love. To see, prove the sincerity of
your love. Do you love Christ? Do you love
His gospel? Do you love? You love grace?
Then this is what He said here, For you know the grace, you want
to see the sincerity of love? For you know the grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, O the riches of
His grace, the riches of His glory, the earth was the Lord's
and the fullness thereof, that though He was rich, yet for your
sakes, for your sakes He became poor. that you, through his poverty,
get to be made rich. He became poor so we'd have his
riches. And then look what he said over
here in chapter nine. Or excuse me, down in verse 12. Verse 12 of 2 Corinthians 8.
Excuse me, let me go here first. And this is so obvious. If there first be a willing mind,
It is accepted according to what the man has, not according to
what he has not. And what he's saying is, if you
don't have it to give, you can't give what you don't have. And
that's what he's saying here. The church that begs for money,
I feel sorry for them, but that's what he says. Whatever a man
has, it's got to be a willing mind, first thing. And then it
has to be according to what a man has. If you don't have something,
you can't do nothing with it. Now look over here in 2 Corinthians
9. Look in verse six and seven. But this I say, he which soweth
sparingly shall reap also sparingly. And he which sow bountifully
shall reap also bountifully. And what he s talking about here
is if you go out here to plant a field, you put just a little
bit of seed down, you ain t going to get much. But if you put a
lot of seed down, you re going to get a lot of stuff, and that
s what he s talking about. And then he goes on to say this,
but this is what he s talking about. Every man according as
he has purpose, as he purposes in his heart. You ve got to purpose
it now in his heart. in his heart, not to be like
those fellas that went by that treasury and let everybody see
how much he was getting and how much he was putting in. Purpose
in his heart, so let him give. Don't do it grudgingly. Don't
do it because somebody begs you to or intimidates you into doing
it, or of necessity. Don't do it because it's necessary.
For God loves somebody that's happy, joyful, cheerful giver. And let me show you one more.
Look over in Proverbs 11, 24. Proverbs 11, 24. But our Lord
paid so much attention to these Proverbs 11. Look down at verse 24. They cast
in their abundance, but she cast in of her poverty. And that's what made it so special
to the Lord Jesus Himself. There is that scattereth, yet
increases. Scatter, and yet it increases. And then there's those that withholdeth,
more this necessary, more this right, and that tends us to poverty. It'll end up making you poor.
That's a strange thing, ain't it? You know, he said, if you hold
it to yourself, you'll end up poor, man. And what he means
by poor, he's not talking about wealth and amount of money you
got or say poor at heart. You'll have a poor life. You'll
have a life that's without God, without Christ. And I'll tell
you what, beloved, here's the thing, here's the thing, and
I've said this and I'll say it again in closing, that if somebody
has your heart, they've got you. If somebody has your heart, they
have you. And if Christ has your heart, He has you. And if he
don't have your heart, then he don't have you. And if he has
your heart, he has everything that you have. Belongs to him. And you know that. And you acknowledge
that. Ain't that right? If he has you,
if you know. Take my heart and seal it to
thy courts above. All right. I mean, I'll tell
you what, I got a song I want us to sing. And close with this. And it's 35 in this little book
here, find it. 35. Can you do play that Marlene? I like this song. That's the way I feel sometimes,
I know you do too. ? I saw a wayward traveler in tattered

he was sad ? His back was laid in heavy, his strength was almost

shouting as he journeyed, deliverance will come Ben, bombs of victory
Crowns of glory, palms of victory I shall wear ? I saw him in the evening, the
sun was bending low ? He'd overtopped the mountain and reached the
vale below ? He saw the golden city, his everlasting home ?
And shouted loud, Hosanna, deliverance will come ? In palms of victory
Crowns of glory, palms of victory I shall wear ? While gazing on
that city just o'er the narrow flood ? A band of holy angels
came from the throne of God ? They bore him on their pinions safe
o'er the dashing foam ? And joined him in his triumph, deliverance
has come ? In palms of victory Crowns of glory, arms of victory
I shall wear ? I heard the song of triumph, they sang upon the
shore ? Our Jesus has redeemed us, to suffer nevermore ? Then
once more looking backward, he viewed the race he'd run ? And
shouted loud, was then us, deliverance has come ? In arms of victory Glory, palms of victory I shall
wear. Old Bunyan, you know, Christian,
was going across the river to get over into Manuel's land.
And he got out there, boy, and he was just about to drown. He
didn't think he was going to make it. And he got out there,
and then his foot found a rock. And he walked the rest of the
way on that rock, and he landed in that celestial city. Oh, boy. One of these days, that's what
we're going to look back. Paul said, I've finished my course.
I've run my race. I've run my race. I'm done. Oh,
boy. We've got a race to run, and
we cannot finish until we get to the end. Good night, and God
bless you. See you Friday night, 7 o'clock. Oh, oh, dude. Look how you're
here.
